Main RP: The Botanic Gardens

I could tell that Lickitron really wanted those bananas by how hard he was working. He had always worked hard before, coming up with devious schemes to get food. We got kicked out of a grocery store once because he couldn’t keep his tongue in his mouth. He pulled the fire alarm and water starting falling out from the small holes in the ceiling. Everyone evacuated the store except us two. I got fined a hefty price that day, but at least I didn’t have to pay for all the food he ate. I always wondered why they didn’t charge me for that, but I was glad they didn’t. He had always gotten me in trouble when it came to stuff like this. I pretty much got used to it already, but I did make sure to keep an eye on him. One of these days he was going to cross the line with a tough opponent by stealing its food and I’m going to have to get him out of that mess. Lickitron always found ways to get food, so it didn’t surprise the he jumped on Tropius and took its fruit, though it did surprise me that he did so so carelessly. He should have taken precaution. Tropius could have easily dealt major damage to him. Thankfully, it didn’t. Sort of took me by surprise though because if someone did that to me I would straight out attack them. Maybe this Tropius was a peaceful kind, I sure hoped so.

The cloud of toxins Lickitron sent off hit Tropius head on, making it begin to fall asleep. It was too perfect. I didn’t think he was going to get hit, but unfortunately, I was wrong. Right after Lickitron hit it with Ice Punch, Tropius wings on its back began flapping, and leaves came flying all around Lickitron, cutting him up all over the place. Once again Lickitron came through and used Ice Punch again, stealing a banana as well like I had expected. He never disappointed when it came to doing stuff like this.

“Alright Lickitron, this time use Fire Punch, full blast.” I called out. “I’ll try and calm it down with this Calming Fragrance Plus.” I reached into my bag and pulled out a small vile of perfume like substance and let out the sent towards Tropius. I also pulled out a Hyperball and readied myself to throw it again once Lickitron made contact with his move. I made sure the vile was empty before placing it back into my bag. I looked over at Ataro and his Lickilicky who were doing a great job keeping that Combee away from me. His Lickilicky was sitting on the Combee which made me laugh. It was funny to see a large Pokémon sit on a small one like Combee. There wasn’t much the bee could do. The only way I saw it escaping its grasps was if it taunted Lickilicky with honey or I captured this Tropius and we went on our merry way.

“Looks like the capture time is here.” I said happily. I enlarged the Hyperball and aimed it at Tropius. I wanted this to be a fast capture; I wasn’t sure if Lickitron knew this, but I felt he would do his best as he always did. Lickitron took off again, fist pulled back like before. Only this time it was on fire. I expected Lickitron to move around the Tropius and wait for it fall asleep, but he didn’t. He went in for the blow. As he moved in, I saw the flames on his fist grow larger, getting more powerful. He was going to hit it hard like I had wanted. I had a feeling this was going to be over now.​

 

Lickilicky's tongue struck hard, and strangled Combee quickly; although it probably couldn't even feel the pain after the paralysis from Disable. She didn't waste any time and went over to plant herself on top of the Combee. I could tell from the jolly expression on her face that she was having a great time.

Meanwhile, Lickitung's attacks had struck perfectly as well. I heard Cameron commanded his Lickitung to perform a final Fire Punch with all of his might - he wanted to capture the Tropius as fast as possible. In fact, he was even making use of the calming perfumes which had the ability to soften the difficulty of captures.

I focused my attention back onto Lickilicky. Even though I wasn't intending on capturing the Combee, I needed to defeat it now; in order to move on, and to save time. If Combee was still not defeated by the time Tropius was caught, it would only mean that time would be wasted trying to defeat it or running away from it. Time was a crucial factor here, and you wouldn't want to waste too much time on an encounter if possible. I needed Lickilicky to finish off the Combee in one blow, and the move choice was obvious now.

"Lickilicky, let's finish this. Blast its heads off with a Fire Blast. Don't go easy on it!" I commanded.

From my battling experience, Fire Blast would be able to finish off the Combee in one hit. However, in the Park, damage calculations were not as fixed as in usual battles. Sometimes, a Pokemon might have a strength that was so unprecedented, that it might be able to resist damage from a certain attack. I was quite confident about this however. Lickilicky had it within her control completely; with the Combee trapped under its butt, and there was no way of escaping unless Combee had lured her with honey.

I watched on as she quickly charged up the firepower within her belly, and exploded it out of her mouth. The Fire Blast came in the shape of a Chinese character, and the color of fiery red peppers. I wasn't sure if Combee would be able to escape, but the huge stream of attack was about to hit it anytime. With such a dynamic attack performed at such close range, the effect would likely be even magnified.

"Alright Lickitron, this time use Fire Punch, full blast. I'll try to calm it down with this Calming Fragrance Plus," Cameron called out as he pulled out one of the easily recognisable vials. They were equipped with amazingly powerful spray nozzles, ones that never seemed to fail or break down.

Ataro seemed to take the cue from Cameron. "Lickilicky, let's finish this," he said. "Blast its heads off with a Fire Blast. Don't go easy on it!"

As the smaller Lickitung ran back towards the Tropius, a large fireball growing around its left fist, Cameron sprayed the fragrance in the direction of the large Tropical Pokemon. The wind picked up and carried the pink mist over to the Pokemon, who seemed to calm down a bit. At least, it wasn't scowling as hard or ruffling its leaf-feathers as much.

I looked over to Lickilicky. She was charging a big attack - I could tell by the way it glowed through the Pokemon's closed mouth. Suddenly, Lickilicky's tongue shot out and planted itself on the ground. She threw herself into the air, using her tongue as a counterbalance, spinning herself around at the same time so that when she landed on her feet she'd be facing the Combee.

The very second her feet touched the ground she opened her mouth fire and a huge blast of fire shot out, strangely taking on the shape of a many-pronged symbol. I'd seen it do this before - it was one of the ancient ways to perform Fire Blast. Ataro must have trained specially with Lickilicky to be able to pull this off. The fire crashed into the Combee and wrapped around it, preventing it from escaping. It cried out wildly, but as the flames faded, it held its ground, refusing to run away. It took a deep breath and blew a stream of air at Lickilicky, but again, it didn't seem to do much but force her to take a couple steps backwards.

By now Lickitron had reached the Tropius, and not wishing to be predictable he slammed his fire-coated fist into the Tropius' left leg. It groaned, and collapsed onto that knee. Again, being the cheeky little Pokemon that he was, Lickitron used the Tropius' lowering to his advantage, stretching out his long tongue and snaring another banana, leaving only three swinging under the large green beast's neck.

Cameron judged that this was the right time to throw the Hyperball, so he did so. It sailed through the air and tapped the Tropius on its neck, sucking it in by converting it into red plasma. The ball shook twice on the gravel, but then it sprung open. A flash of red light blinded me, and when I regained my vision I saw that the Tropius was hovering there, flapping its wings hard to stay off the ground. It had managed to break out of the Hyper Ball!

The Tropius suddenly stopped flapping its wings, and it crashed to the ground causing a shockwave to move out. It passed harmlessly under the Combee, but it knocked Lickitron and Lickilicky over. I could see by the look on his face that Lickitron wasn't happy his meal had been disrupted. Luckily, at that moment the Yawn came into effect. Tropius craned its neck towards the sun, opened its mouth wide, and then collapsed onto the ground. It had finally gone to sleep.

Lickitron sucessfully hit Tropius again, but it didn't do as much damage as I had expected, which was a bit disappointing. Since it didn't do as much damage as I wanted, Tropius still had enough strength for an attack. He used a magnitute five Earthquake, it wasn't powerful, but it did its toll on both Lickitron and Licklicky. Luckily for us, Tropius fell to the ground asleep.

"Alright, this is our chance!" I called out to Lickitron. "Use Thunder Punch! Do the capture." Lickitron ran forward and picked up the ball with his tongue. His fists were giving off electrical energy as he ran towards Tropius. Lickitron aimed for his chest area as he prepared to give the blow. I could see him begin to extend his tongue and bring out the Hyperball in his other hand. I watched and waited for the moment he used the Hyperball, this had to be the final capture. Then we could finally move on and perhaps I'd find Ferroseed or Durant soon, which is what I really wanted.​

 

The attacks had struck their respective targets. I watched as Lickilicky's Fire Blast blasted the head of Combee, but to my surprise, the Combee still managed to put up a fight. The Combee took a deep breath and blew a stream of air towards Lickilicky. I had almost laughed out loud at the attack, for even though I didn't know what the attack was, it was too hilarious. A stream of air. :sweatlol:

Then, Lickitung's Fire Punch struck Tropius. Cameron didn't want to waste too much time, so he quickly threw the Hyper Ball after the damage was dealt. After a couple of quivers, the capture device opened up instead - Tropius had managed to escape. I would have asked Lickilicky to protect herself from Tropius' counterattack, but the action was all too fast. With a sudden flap of its wing, the ground started to vibrate somewhat mildly, and the shock wave caused minor damages to our Pokemon. It was probably a low powered Magnitude. After it was done, it started to yawn lazily, and fell back to the ground awkwardly - fast asleep.

"Alright, this is our chance!" Cameron called out to his Lickitron. "Use Thunder Punch! Do the capture."

The Lickitung ran forward and picked up the ball with his tongue. He started to charge up his fists with electrical energy as he charged towards the Tropius, and Cameron had already prepared his Hyper Ball again. My job was too take out Combee with a final blow now; nothing too hard.

"Lickilicky, let's finish off with a Seismic Toss, shall we?"

My Lickilicky responded by shoving its tongue out into the air, though I wasn't quite sure where it was pointing it to. It withdrew its tongue and ran towards the Combee, while shaking its butt left to right. I started to giggle at the funny sight. I waited for her to make contact, as she would grab the Combee forcefully, and shoot herself up by using her tongue to bounce off from the ground - high up into the air, then dropping Combee back down to give it a crash landing.

"Alright, this is our chance! Use Thunderpunch, do the capture," Cameron called out to Lickitron.

The Lickitung grasped the Hyper Ball in its tongue and began running back towards the sleeping Tropius. Both of his fists were covered in needlelike electrical shards which sparked through the air as he ran. He rammed both of his fists into the Tropiu's long curving neck, and the sparks danced across the large beast's skin. The Lickitung then threw the capture device at the Tropius, and it was sucked inside in another flash of red light. It lay on the ground, wobbling slightly, as the Tropius fought to escape even in its sleep.

Meanwhile, Ataro had ordered a Seismic Toss, and so Lickilicky was reaching out for the wounded Combee. Before she got hold of the Bug Pokemon, a small whirlwind grew in front of it, and the Combee launched the Air Cutter attack. The small tornado blew right through Lickilicky, making tiny cuts along her arms, and then it curved around and smacked into Lickitron as well, knocking him over. At that exact moment the Hyperball sprung open again, and the Tropius re-emerged. It sure was determined to resist this capture.

The news wasnt all bad, though. Lickilicky grabbed the Combee and pushed off her tongue, high into the air. She span around a bit, performing a few somersaults, and then headed back towards solid earth, holding the Combee out in front of her. The two Pokemon crashed into the ground, making a small crater just off to the side of the path. Lickilicky hopped out of the crater, and I could just see the Combee laying stunned right in the middle of the shallow hole. It was quite clear to me that the Combee wouldn't be moving around for a few hours - it was out of this fight for good.

"You should probably try to get one more attack in, Cameron," I said, trying to be helpful. I hated it when my Trainers experienced repeated failed captures. "The Tropius doesn't look that wounded to me."

It was true. Despite being asleep, it still looked quite healthy. Its neck was a bit bruised and its wings ragged from the Leaf Storm earlier, but it still looked quite battle capable. In order to capture it, Cameron would have to decrease its health a little bit more. I didn't blame him for being impatient, though - after all, this Tropius was more of a side-trip as opposed to the main reason that Cameron had come here - a Ferroseed or Durant.

"You should probably try to get one more attack in, Cameron," I said, "The Tropius doesn't look that wounded to me."

"Yeah, I know." I sighed. "Guess trying to do this quick isn't helping. Wow," I mumbled to myself. "This damn thing won't stay in the ball. So stubborn. I'll just have to weaken it some more then." Licktron looked at me, waiting for my orders. I didn't want to be repetitive, but I just wanted to get this over with. I figured another Thunder Punch would do the trick, but then another idea came to mind.

"Lickitron, use Body Slam." I called out. "Slam into it hard." Lickitron nodded and ran towards Tropius. He extended his tounge and used it to push himself off of the ground, then let himself freefall over Tropius. That damage should be enough for me to capture him. I picked up the Hyperball and readied myself to toss it once more.​

"Yeah, I know." Cameron sighed. "Guess trying to do this quick isn't helping. Wow," He mumbled to himself. "This damn thing won't stay in the ball. So stubborn. I'll just have to weaken it some more then."

Cameron then commanded his Lickitung to strike the Tropius with a Body Slam. He picked up the Hyper Ball that was on the floor and threw it towards the Tropius again. I stood there and watch, since there was nothing I could do. I hoped that the capture would be successful this time - third time's the charm after all. Though, I could help damage the Tropius a tiny bit more.

"Lickilicky, let's weaken the Tropius slightly more too. Follow Lickitung and use Body Slam on the Tropius as well. Take care not to faint it however. Reduce the power of your slam if needed."

"Yeah, I know. Guess trying to do this quick isn't helping. Wow, this damn thing won't stay in the ball. So stubborn. I'll just have to weaken it some more then," Cameron remarked.

"Lickitron, use Body Slam. Slam into it hard," Cameron called out, and Lickitron nodded his head. He was starting to get a little tired. I could tell by the way his strides weren't as sharp, and how his tongue lolled about a bit as opposed to staying in the same curved position like it normally did.

Despite his fatigue, Lickitron planted his tongue firmly into the groun and pushed himself into the air, using his tongue to move in an arc. When his rear end was pointed squarely at the sleeping Tropius, he shoved his tongue against the ground, sending himself flying towards his opponent. Lickilicky also did the same thing, but she didn't use her entire strength. Being a fully evolved Pokemon, her Body Slam might have damaged the Tropius too much to be caught. He flew over the long brown neck and crashed firmly into the large green body, while she smashed into his right foreleg. Luckily, the Tropius still did not wake. It would have been disastrous if it woke up right then - Lickitron had become entangled in something on its back and was at the Tropius' mercy.

Luckily for Cameron, the Hyperball had rolled back towards us after failing the second capture. He stepped forward and scooped it up before hurling it overarm towards the Tropius. It made contact with the beast's head and converted it's entire form into red plasma. The ball the opened up and the red plasma swirled around, moving towards the opened sphere as it curved. Thankfully, this freed Lickitron, dropping him onto the ground. He wisely decided to retreat, and jogged back to Cameron's side.

Once all of the red light was inside the ball, it closed again and fell onto the ground, rocking back and forth for the third time inside five minutes. This time, however, it stayed closed. A red light shone forward, and an easily recognisable tone played loudly through the now-silent area, indicating that the capture had been successful.

"Congratulations on your Tropius capture, Cameron," I said as I strode forward to pick the ball up. I dusted it on my overcoat - I'd probably have to take that off later when it got a bit hotter - and slipped it inside the roll-up pack that was fastened inside the curve of my lower back. I shaded my eyes and looked around - aside from the crater caused by Lickilicky's Seismic Toss, the area was still in perfect condition. Truly these two were expert Trainers.

"Well, ready to move on?" I asked, waiting to lead them through the forest plot.

Buzz relaxed happily as the battle unfolded, I wonder if I have any beer in my bag, Buzz thought. The sombrero topped Ludicolo quickly recovered from the Leaf Storm and once again started to hop around.

“Teddson, get up close, charging up an Ice Punch and a Brick Break in your hands, and strike Shiftry with one punch at a time. When you connect, take a bit of his health through a fist-focused Giga Drain," instructed the ranger.

Teddson happily bounded around at the instructions as its two fists began to glow, it drew ever closer to the rather ominous looking Shiftry, both fists raised and glowing brightly against the miserable sky. Buzz pulled an umbrella and clipped it to his chair, smiling as the gentle splatter of the rain bouncing of the plain, black umbrella.

Buzz watched as the Ludicolo proceeded to strike the Shiftry chest with both fists, ice crystals shattered off the Shiftry's bark like body. Doubling up in agony, the Shiftry recoiled but let of a swirling mass of pure dark energy. Just as Ludicolo's fists began to glow absorbing energy it was hurtled back across the grassy clearing they found themself in.

Buzz was very impressed at Siless' determination in this slow battle, Shiftry was proving to be a formidable foe, eager to battle and desperate to win. Buzz wasn't certain Ludicolo would survive the whole battle unless Si though of something quickly. Buzz noted the pace of Ludicolo's dance had slowed quite dramatically.

Shiftry's long white hair, now flattened and grey in the downpour of Ludicolo's Rain Dance, swung through the air as it leapt into the air spinning towards the Jolly Pokémon. Leaves whistling through wind as jumped at the Ludicolo.

"Congratulations on your Tropius capture, Cameron," He said as I moved forward to pick the ball up. Like all Park Rangers, he was required to keep hold of the Pokeball until I was ready to leave the park. As much as I wanted to hold onto my new Pokemon, I repsected their rules, a few more hours wouldn't hurt, and I would be especially grateful if a Ferroseed finally showed up, I was getting a bit impatient.

"Ha, thanks." I replied. I was quite glad I managed to catch it so quickly, even if it did take me three tries to snag in the ball. I was just going to have to be more resourceful then next time I battled and make sure I don't make the same mistakes twice. I pulled out my Pokeplayer again and placed the Ferroseed disk back in. My determination to find one didn't fade, I knew that I'd find one, and I hoped Ataro found his Pokemon that he wanted as well.

"Well, ready to move on?" Chain asked us.

"Sure thing." I said, "Let me just play this damn thing again and hope I get lucky." With that, I clicked the play button on the player, letting out the screeching sound of a Ferroseed.​

 

I watched as Lickitung planted his tongue onto the ground to propel himself into the air. He didn't move with as much energy and power as before; probably a sign that he was getting tired - but still tried his best nonetheless. He stuck the tongue against the ground once he was close enough towards his target, and slammed himself onto the Tropius with all of his might.

The Tropius suddenly flinched from the sudden weight; albeit still deeply snoring in sleep. Lickitung had only just stood back up, and Lickilicky was already overhead of Tropius. She slanted her body just so that she could lower the damage of her Body Slam; aiming for Tropius' right foreleg instead.

Then, Cameron threw his Hyper Ball and it went flying overhead towards the Tropius. With a decisive knock, the orb opened up and the red light expanded to surround every inch of the large-sized creature. The red light consumed and sucked it back into the capture device; dropping back onto the ground and started to shake unsteadily again. Both Cameron and I stood there motionless - I wasn't sure what Cameron was thinking, but I was hoping that the capture would be successful this time.

The Hyper Ball rocked back and forth for the third time, and finally locked shut. "Congratulations on your Tropius capture, Cameron," Chain said, and walked forward to pick the Hyper Ball up. He dusted the dirt off with his overcoat and slipping it inside his backpack - rangers were supposed to keep the captured Pokemon for the trainers until the end of the expedition. I noticed that my ranger had looked around the area for a while, as if he was studying if there was any major damage done to the surroundings, but he seemed pretty impressed. I wasn't sure what he was impressed with, but that was surely a good sign.

"Well, ready to move on?" Chain asked us.

"Sure thing," Cameron replied, "Let me just play this damn thing again and hope I get lucky." After he said that, he pressed the 'Play' button again on his Pokeplayer. I didn't had to however, since I had never paused my Pokeplayer at all - I was resolute to find and capture a Bouffalant.

"Yeah, gladly. I want my Bouffalant!!!" I cried out as I dropped to the ground and started hitting the ground - whining. :bawl:

Argent was working at the outpost at the Botanic Gardens, surprisingly. He definitely preferred working within this outpost than within any of the others he had worked in before - maybe it was because it was a nostalgic place for him, the area where he had first been in the National Park. Then again, it was probably just the warmth of the sun shining in through the windows, and also the fragrant breeze that sifted in through the windows, filling Argent's nostrils with the rich scent of flowers and wild grass, almost encouraging him to work more than he usually did (not that Argent didn't work a lot - in fact, he worked a lot harder than he suspected he should be, but he didn't bother complaining, since the paperwork was, for the most part, rather entertaining). Chimey, customarily hovering by his shoulder, was amusing herself by using her psychic powers to practise a game she had invented for herself - 'paper toss'. She would use her power to grab a sheet of paper that Argent would throw in the waste basket, then psychically 'throw' it into the waste basket, letting go when she felt confident that it would land in the waste basket. Of course, she had missed a fair few times before, but she didn't mind so much. The game gave her a way to exercise her mental power and also a way of amusing herself.

Argent's uplifted mood was due to a man who named himself 'Chainy' - he was the ranger who had opened the windows. Nodding respectfully to him as he passed to go see what one of the women who worked in the place - Elisa by name - was doing. There had been a clatter just outside of the room, and Chainy had obviously gone to investigate. A short conversation ensued, and Chainy seemed to agree with whatever Elisa said in a kind of resigned tone. Argent smirked slightly, even though it was rather improper. Chainy's reputation did certainly precede him - Argent had heard before that Chainy was a ladies' man through and through, and this had just been proved to Argent by the way Chainy seemed to crumble in the confrontation with Elisa. Argent himself had no particular problems with women - he didn't really think about them too much or too little, and he didn't falter in any of their presences. Argent was kind to anyone, through and through, and genders didn't make the slightest bit of difference to his genuine care for everyone who he knew or was at least acquainted with - and of course, the resident Pokémon of the National Park.

Chainy, after getting some belongings for himself, left the outpost, seemingly for a team run, from what Argent could gather. Argent, who was still a rather new ranger, was hoping that he'd get the chance to take two trainers through at once like in most team runs. Encountering two wild Pokémon at once, which was what happened a lot of the time when two trainers went around, must be exhilarating. That was one of the reasons why Argent had decided to become a Ranger in the first place - for the wildlife and Pokémon who resided here in the National Park. He had a soft spot for the Botanic Gardens, however - it was one of the most beautiful places he had ever been to in his life, and even if he hadn't have been working here, he would have still remembered every detail of this area vividly in his mind. Sighing in a nostalgic way as his pen scratched along the surface of his work, Argent scratched the back of his head. It would be a while yet before he'd be able to go out on a run, he assumed.

Fingers lightly tapped his shoulder, and he straightened up in his chair, looking up inquisitively. He saw it was one of the women who worked in the Registration Office. He smiled brightly at her - this seemed to intimidate her slightly, as her hands trembled and her voice was shaky as she spoke, almost as if she was nervous whilst talking to him. Argent was surprised that he could have that kind of effect on someone. The woman's deep blue eyes looked down at him with a kind of importance, and her flaxen hair was meticulously tied into a ponytail.

"There has been a request to go through the Botanic Gardens - it's a team run, and I thought I'd take the request to you to see if you'd like to take it. You work hard enough... so I took it upon myself to see that you got a break from working soon enough," she said, her tongue rolling like a rapid river, and her tone almost gushing. She blushed, not meaning to say it so quickly. Argent, keeping a perfectly straight face as he realised that this one had certain feelings for him, took the folder gently from her firm grasp. She let it go with a kind of reluctance.

"Thank you, miss. I'd love to take this run." Flashing her his most winsome smile, his mood now rather whimsical, he sat back down for a few moments to look through the information. Withdrawing some files from the folder, he began to read.

"Aha. One Alaska and one Chris. I wonder if they have surnames... maybe they didn't think to include them on their request. Ah well, I'm not here to judge."

Stepping up out of his chair and beckoning to his Chimecho to follow him, as they were going on a run. He decided to leave Cassidy to her own devices before going on this run - he'd take his Leafeon instead. Vanilla would probably like to get out in the Gardens and meet the other Grass-types about. Argent smiled almost inwardly as he neatly placed the folder within his satchel and headed out of the outpost.

From the outpost, it was a few minutes' walk to get to the front gate for the Botanic Gardens. Vanilla in tow now, he waited by the front gate - hopefully his trainers would be here in a few minutes.

As Alaska walked towards the Ranger's outpost, she began occasionally twitching.

"Shit, shit, shit," she muttered. Ryuu, her Garchomp, whined with concern. "It's fine, bro. Just... here, give me a sec."

She stopped and took off her black backpack. She reached inside and rummaged around several large objects before pulling out a plastic Ziploc bag filled with what appeared to be pieces of candy in blue wrappers. Upon opening one, however, she revealed that it was in fact a white, powdery substance hidden in a candy wrapper. She tossed the powder into her mouth and started cackling maniacally. Her Garchomp shook his head mournfully. Her entire body seemed to spasm for a moment, and then she was fine. She sighed.

"Thanks, broham," she said to her Garchomp, before continuing over to the outpost. At just that moment, a ranger walked out of the double doors and into the bright sunlight. By his side, was a green and yellow fox-like Pokemon, a Leafeon. Though he looked rather young, his hair was a shiny silver color. Hadn't her ranger been named Argent? She couldn't remember. All the names and places had been blurring together recently. She shook her head. She had to stay focused so she could catch more Pokemon. She needed the money from battling; Rare Candy didn't buy itself.

"Hey there," she called. "Are you Argent Silverswift?"

 

"Yipee," Chris shouted. He neatened out his crimson t-shirt and enter through the rocky gate towards the National Park. This trainer also brought along his two trusty companions, which were a Crobat, and a Gengar. These two powerful purple Pokemon were always close to Chris and insisted they come along on this new journey.

He tread carefully through the Botanical Garden's grass, and slowly looked around in search of a Tauros. But... who knew what could happen within this new adventure. Crobat was a giant, pink bat like creature with sharp fangs and slowly flapped its sharp winds through the cold air. Below it stood Gengar... This Pokemon was a foggy ghost who loved to play tricks on others, however it was a very modest creature.

"Less about my Pokemon, and onto to the Park!" Chris shouted. He then realised he had to catch up with Alaska. She stared at Chris and waited for him. This trainer had brown hair, and wore a dark t-shirt along with some short jeans. Those clothes made Alaska look like a bad ass trainer whom no one would mess with. Alongside her was a Garchomp. One of her trusted partners.

"Garch.." Garchomp screeched. This dragon Pokemon was a dark blue coloured creature with strong blade like winds. It also had razor teeth that could hack through any material even without HM Cut. Garchomp stood strong within the cold breeze that flustered over and awaited Chris' actions. He then arrived and stood by Alaska ready to take the next challenge.

"Sure thing, let me just play this damn thing again and hope I get lucky," Cameron replied. He ejected the disc and reinserted it, hooking it back onto his belt. I would be hearing the cries of a Ferroseed, except the sonic sponge filters in my ears recognised the handshake of the Pokeplayer and the repetitive soundwaves, and filtered them out from my hearing automatically. I had made them when I got tired of having to listen to the Pokemon calls over and over - professional Trainers like Cameron often requested I take them on runs because Pokeplayers seemed to work around me more than usual.

"Yeah, gladly. I want my Bouffalant!" Ataro yelled in a high-pitched voice, suddenly falling onto the ground and lashing out with his fists. I shot Lickilicky a look, and she shrugged in response. Perhaps the breakdowns were common, a mental problem or a protein deficiency or something. As long as he didn't act like that while Rangering people I didn't really have to worry about it.

"Alright, let's head off then," I said, gathering my coat around me and walking towards the stone gate. I did it to look cool, but I knew I had about an hour before the coat got too hot to wear. It certainly was badass and it hid my pistol well, but I loathed heat and wasn't far off ditching it.

The five of us crunched down the gravel path. The path was wide now, wide enough for us all to walk abreast, but it would soon taper down to only two side-by-side as we got deeper into the forest. Before that happened, though, I heard a sudden whistling, and I knew what it was. I'd heard it before, and we had maybe two seconds to act fast.

"Get back!" I yelled, and we all dived backwards. Something heavy hit the gravel path in front of us, showering small stones all over the place. Luckily I had instinctively covered my face with my arm, and my coat was thick. As I got to my feet and looked over, I saw that I had been right. A Ferroseed had dropped down from one of the branches above to ambush us. I then heard a chittering coming from my right, and I saw that a curious Treecko was climbing down a tree trunk to investigate the commotion. It looked like we had found our next pair of Pokemon.

"Alright Cameron, there's your Ferroseed. Go nuts," I said, taking another step back. There was no doubt in my mind that he would indeed go nuts. I felt a little bad for Ataro, though - not only had his disc failed, but he'd already given a rare Pokemon to Cameron. I hoped his luck would come through for him soon.

IC: "Alright, let's head off then," Chain said, fixing his coat. I couldn’t imagine wearing a coat in this place. It wasn’t too hot, but it felt much better wearing shorts to and feeling the breeze here at the gardens. We walked down the gravel path, keeping our eyes peeled for the Pokémon we wanted. I heard a whistling sound, but before I could react, Chainy yelled out: "Get back!" and we all dived backwards. I heard a loud, heavy thud slam into the gravel path

A Ferroseed had dropped down from one of the branches above to ambush us. A Treeko above looked down at us, watching to see what we did. I had a feeling it was going to want to join the battle. I looked back at the Ferroseed to quickly examine it. It was just as the name had suggested, a large seed looking Pokémon with many thorns coming out of its body. It had a metallic body with band-like stripes and green thorns. His two small yellow eyes glared at me, itching for a battle.

"Alright Cameron, there's your Ferroseed. Go nuts," Chainy said, taking another step back. I felt like screaming at the top of my lungs and running around in circles waving my hands in the air and acting like a mindless person. However, before I could react, my eyes stopped on Ataro, the love of my life. I felt really bad because he had let me battle the Tropuis who was clearly interested in battling him instead of me. But he was kind enough to let me catch it, and now this. My voice disk working and his not, I felt bad. I looked at him and frowned. “Sorry,” I said in an extremely quiet voice.

I looked at the Ferroseed and wondered who I was going to use. Lickitron was out of the question. Lickitron didn’t like using Special type moves, he was a full on attacker, which was going to be a problem with Ferroseed’s sharp thorns. Not only that, Lickitron would more than likely definitely lick the Ferroseed which would hurt like hell if it cut his tongue. Snorlax was too big for this little guy. Flamefeather and Shadow were both incredibly powerful, and Ferroseed was both Steel and Fire type, so Fire would do a risky amount of damage. So it was between Mindbender and Cybershock, both were great choices, so either would do fine.

“Alright Mindbender, you’re up.” I said, tossing her ball in front of me.

"Lickitron!" Lickitron grumbled angrily. I placed my hand on his shoulder and gently pulled him aside. He was mad that I didn't use him in battle.

"Buddy," I whispered so that only he could hear, "I know you want to battle, and I know you'll do great, but most of your attacks require physical contact, and you'll defintely get hurt by its thorns that way. You see what I mean?" Lickitron looked at me, then the Ferroseed, then back at me and nodded. "I'll reward all you guys when we get out and get you especially whatever foods you want." Lickitrons immediatly formed a large grin as he began to wonder what foods he wanted. I turned my attention back to the battle.

I pulled out my Pokedex and did a quick scan of this Pokémon. I clicked the green button and a green light shot out and engulfed the Ferroseed. The light didn’t do anything to the Pokémon, it just scanned them.

Ferroseed – The Thorn Seed Pokémon. Ferroseed is a Grass/Steel type Pokémon who shoot barrage of spikes when they feel threatened, which gives it a chance to escape by rolling away. They stick their spikes into cave walls and absorb the minerals they find in the rock.

“Hmm, so watch out so that it doesn’t escape.” I called out. “Use Thunder Wave, that should prevent it from being able to leave. Then go in with you Hidden Power move.” Mindbender nodded and began meditating.

She lifted her arms and began creating a small ball of blue and yellow electrical energy. The energy appeared to be moving through her body in small pulses and it made its way out through her arms. When it was big enough, she launched the orb at Ferroseed. As soon as she did that, her eyes turned red and I could feel heat coming from her body. Small red orbs began forming around her, growing bigger and bigger as she waited to launch it. I guessed that she was waiting for Thunder Wave to hit before firing the Hidden Power attack, that way, if Ferroseed did try to escape, she could teleport next to it and quickly smack it down with her attack.

I had been so caught up with the Ferroseed, that I forgot about Treeko, I hoped that Ataro wouldn't be mad at me and once more help me by fending off the Treeko while I battled Ferroseed.​

 

"Alright, let's head off then," Chain said, fixing his coat. I was forced to get up. As they walked on, I followed behind them lazily. Suddenly, we heard a whistling sound and Chain yelled out: "Get back!"

A rush of excitement overwhelmed me, as I waited for my next encounter to appear. A Ferroseed had dropped down from one of the branches and immediately hopped over to Cameron; signalling to me that it was Cameron's encounter. Then, a gecko Pokemon dropped down after Ferroseed; watching intently on what it is that we're doing. I was too shocked for words. Of all Pokemon - and yet a Treecko.

"Alright Cameron, there's your Ferroseed. Go nuts," Chain said, taking another step back. I looked at Cameron with desperate and envious dog eyes, while he seemed so excited and blinded with happiness. He turned to look at me, then suddenly started to frown; probably feeling sorry for me.

"Sorry," He said in an extremely quiet voice.

I didn't saw the need for an apology though. It wasn't exactly his fault anyway. He followed up by studying the Ferroseed and seemed to be thinking hard about what Pokemon that he should use to battle the wild Pokemon. After a while of consideration and scratching of his chin, "Alright Mindbender, you're up," said Cameron. He pulled out a Pokeball and tossed it onto the ground. As he did that, his Lickitung grumbled anrily - he was probably mad that Cameron didn't use him in the battle. Cameron quickly turned to Lickitung and whispered into his ears. I wasn't sure what he had whispered but it was probably something good, for Lickitung had seemed contented and moved back to let another Pokemon battle.

As Cameron had pulled out his Pokedex, his Gardevoir had appeared from his Pokeball. I heard Cameron asked his Gardevoir to perform a Thunder Wave and a Hidden Power attack. I didn't see what he or Gardevoir had did though, for I slumped down back to the ground and started wailing loudly away.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" I started screaming and whining away. Though, it was for the melodramatic effect. After I was done whining away, I quickly got into the battle mood again. If I couldn't catch a Bouffalant yet, I was going to battle my way to get to it.

"Alright Lickilicky, stand back for now. We will let Skitty fight the puny Treecko. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" I commanded and started laughing hysterically.

Lickilicky had obeyed my command and quickly stepped back. She seemed nonchalant and oblivious to my dramatic actions - she had knew me too well. Skitty meanwhile, quickly took a step forward and wagged her tail; signalling to me that she was ready to battle.

"Alright Skitty. Let's show it what you're capable off. Get it there and pummel it down with a couple of Double Edge attacks. Don't go easy on your attacks. Go all out with it!" I shouted.

Upon my command, a sudden flash of silhouette appeared around her body as she charged towards the Treecko. A rush of white blazing trail lighted behind her; displaying the force and speed of the attack as she sped through the field. As she started to close up on her foe, her movements seemed to be more circular. Once she was in a good enough distance, she would ram herself into Treecko two times, while in a spinning movement. In fact, to others, it would look like she was off-balance and simply chasing her tail.

However, it was actually a technique that we had perfected to lower the damage of the recoil received from the move itself, while still having the same force of the move. The spinning action would be able to spread and share all of the recoil damage over Skitty's entire body, due to the spinning action. Due to this, the recoil damage received would be lesser as compared to when a Pokemon attacks head on. With the spinning action, if Treecko were to suddenly attack Skitty, there would be a better chance that the damage is lessened since Treecko cannot get a direct hit, or perhaps Treecko might even hurt itself.

OOC: Tropius and Ferroseed gender?

Cameron scuffed his feet on the stones and muttered something, but I couldn't hear exactly what it was. It can't have been important though, because he quickly refocused his attention on the Ferroseed, dancing a little happy jig as he did so. His hand hovered over PokeBalls as he thought about which one to use. Finally, he made his choice - he detached a PokeBall and tossed it in front of him. A familiar form appeared - that of his Gardevoir, Mindbender. Even from in his PokeBall, I could feel that Dual already knew that she was out, and he intended to come out and hit on her some more.

Later, buddy, she won't thank you if she stuffs up the battle because you're busy distracting her, I pointed out.

<Fine,> Dual grumbled, <but the ssecond this battle finished I'm coming out to say hi.>

Why do I get the feeling it's going to be so much more than hi? I asked with a sneer.

Dual chuckled and then fell silent, apparently content to watch from my eyes. Being able to contact him through our telepathic link no matter where he was had been incredibly helpful many times before, and it even worked when he was in his PokeBall. He'd often sift through my memories when he got bored, despite my repeated pleas for him to let dead stuff lie.

As Mindbender sized up her opponent, Lickitron made an unhappy grunting sound. As Cameron bent down to explain to the Pokemon why he couldn't use a physical attacker against the Grass type, I suddenly heard a wailing. I turned around to see that Ataro was once again flailing around on the ground, crying his eyes out. Lickilicky gave me that same look - apparently this happened all the time. As he thrashed around on the ground, Cameron pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the Ferroseed. I didn't hear what the little red machine said, though - I'd configred my sonic sponges to filter those noises out too. They were another common Trainer tool that I found annoying.

“Watch out so that it doesn’t escape. Use Thunder Wave, that should prevent it from being able to leave. Then go in with you Hidden Power move," Cameron ordered.

As Mindbender began to exude patterns of yellow sparks, Ataro decided to snap out of his fit. "Alright Lickilicky, stand back for now. We will let Skitty fight the puny Treecko," he said before beginning to laugh hysterically. I stared at him for ten seconds or so - I was starting to get worried about his mental sanity. The lazy crazy I'd had in the Park was high on two different drugs and carried around some sticks of dynamite.

By now all the yellow sparks were flowing around Mindbender's body in smooth arcing patterns, except they were all heading in the general direction of her arms and down them to her hands, where a yellow ball was growing. When it was the size of a basketball, it flew towards the Ferroseed and burst when it was right in front of it. A multitude of sparks burst out and crawled all across the Ferroseed's skin. In addition to this, the Ferroseed's patches of silver thornless skin began to glow pure silver, but I was pretty sure that wasn't a side effect of the Thunder Wave.

"Alright Skitty. Let's show it what you're capable off. Get it there and pummel it down with a couple of Double Edge attacks. Don't go easy on your attacks. Go all out with it!" Ataro yelled, and I was glad to see him finally get in on the battle. Coco jumped forwards and shoulder-tackled the Treecko, knocking it backwards. Unluckily for Coco, the Treecko remained on its feet. Coco began running towards the Treecko again, but it quickly put both of its hands to its head. I imagined someone yelling "Solar Flare!" as a bright white light emerged from the Treecko's forehead, temporarily bliding Coco. The second Double Edge attack barely skimmed the Treecko - instead of making direct contact, Coco brushed past her opponent and fell over onto the ground.

Not wishing to waste this opportunity, the Treecko began dashing in zigzags towards Mindbender, even as the Gardevoir charged up a chain of glowing red energy balls. As soon as they began whistling through the air towards the Ferroseed, the little gecko Pokemon jumped high into the air and latched onto Mindbender's arm, tearing at it viciously with its small teeth. Mindbender shook her arm wildly, but was having trouble dislodging the little green beast.

All seven red orbs crackled and whistled as they approached the Ferroseed, who was still spinning around and glowing bright white. They all made contact, and the spnning stopped. The Ferroseed moved onto its next attack, though - the green spike directly between and above its eyes began to glow bright fluoroescent green, and a flurry of small white bullet-like objects moved towards Minbender, striking her all over. She gasped as they made contact - not all of them had hit her, but most of them had.

I was glad Mindbender’s Thunder Wave went through, because Ferroseed was already raising its speed. If that managed to raise its speed before Thunder Wave hit, I was going to have a serious problem because it was fast and if it made contact, I would take that damage, plus the damage from its spikes which would definitely be an annoyance. I had to make sure this thing was as slow as possible. I looked over at Mindbender who was being bitten on by Treeko. I was so focused on the Ferroseed that I hadn’t noticed the other Grass Pokémon much.

“Mindbender, I want you to use Psychic to swat that Treeko off you. Then launch an Icy Wind at both Ferroseed and Treeko. It doesn’t matter to me if you hit Treeko or not, but be sure to hit Ferroseed for sure. After you do that, don’t focus any more of your attacks on Treeko. Finally, use Hidden Power again.” I called out. It was sure a mouthful. Then I talked to her privately. “Okay, now that they can’t hear, you don’t really have to use Psychic on Treeko, just start using it and it should hopefully scare it off. If not then when you start forming Hidden Power that will definitely scare it off, because if it doesn’t then it will get hit. So don’t use Psychic, hell, don’t even use Icy Wind, just use one powerful Hidden Power attack is all I want you to do.”

She grinned and nodded. Then she stared down the Treeko and began to use Psychic. At the same time, she began forming the balls of fire again. The orbs grew bigger and bigger each second. Within fifteen seconds, the Hidden Power orbs were half a foot long. Four orbs circled around her as she locked on to her target. She didn’t waste any time in firing them. I watch the orbs float over towards Ferroseed at a decent speed. Ferroseed was paralyzed, so I hoped to god that it would kick in and this attack would hit head on. I looked over at Ataro and hoped that he would get Treeko again and stop it from doing anymore damage to Mindbender. I knew I could count on him, so I didn’t worry about that.
