There are plenty of giant hollow logs where Pokemon hang out and a few ponds here and there. The grass is generally knee-high but taller in certain places. Also, there are two ways we can do this, the Bumblebee way or the Sec way. The BB way is for me to throw Pokemon at you, one after another, so you can more quickly find the ones you want. The Sec way is for me to write more Non-Battle-Posts in-between encounters, allowing you to build up a large Character Count so that you don't need to over-extert yourself in the actual Encounter. Which way do you prefer?

I sat in the gate-control booth of the Botanical Gardens. Not many people had come through here lately, and I had drawn the short straw this week. There had been nothing to do for the last three days except keep fit and play on my game machine.

That's what I was doing right now, wearing out my thumbs on a game system. I began hearing a crunching noise, and I looked up to see what could be making it.

To my surprise, a Trainer was walking up the gravel road. Even as I watched him, my PDA buzzed, sending through his file. I read it quickly through my eyepiece, and when he was a few metres from the gate, I pulled the lever, allowing him to enter the Gardens.

"Ranger Chainy, leaving Outpost Five with Trainer," I said into the radio sitting on the desk.

"Copy that, sending replacement Ranger," the Park Organiser replied.

I swung out of my seat and left the gate control room. The door swung closed and locked automatically.

The Trainer had now walked through the gate, and the gate closed automatically behind him. My eyepiece picked up handshake protocols from a Pokeplayer: this guy had obviously come prepared. He'd probably switch it on the second we started.

"Hey there," I called out, walking over. "My name is Chainy, and I'll be going through the Botanical Gardens with you."

I extended my hand to shake his.

An overconfident Bill is peering at Ranger Chainy, eager to start his first run through the National Park. Many of his much more experienced companions have shared stories of how there was every Pokemon known to man located in the once totally unknown island.

Garnered with a backup full of exploration goods, struggling to carry, and 3 shiny red (almost new) Pokeballs... it was easy to assume he was new to even the art of adventuring. His clothes looked totally out of

Expecting something to happen while urgently staring at the Ranger, Bill totally forgot that it was he who was suppose to be asking for service - not gaining it. He quickly looked swiveled around a little, checking his pockets for some odd reason. Then he looks stares and his hand, where he apparently scribbled something down.

"U-Umm, hold on a sec... I did some research on this area that several years ago, after the island was just discovered, scientists began testing their experiments here. But after they decided to transform this area into a protected zone, they converted their experiment fields into the Garden that stands today. One of their most famed creations was Castform, which is now considerably highly sought for by some of the most novelty Pokemon collectors. Also-", Bill continues to mumble on about all this stuff he has no need to share about, he knew he was kinda getting embarassing, but the mix of eagerness and nervousness put him into an awkward position.

The young man seemed nervous, checking his pockets and rattling off a long speech. The only word that I really picked up was 'Castform'.

"So you're looking for a Castform?" I asked him.

He nodded.

"Well, you've come to the right place," I said expansively, indicating the Botanical Gardens with a grandiose wave of my hand.

We started along the path. The weather was my favorite kind of weather - overcast so that the hot sun didn't shine directly on me, and a slight breeze to keep me cool.

We soon reached a split in the gravel path, like I knee we would. The left-hand fork led to some glasshouses, and the right-hand fork would take us to the outdoor gardens.

"Which way do you want to go?" I asked Bill.

Bill straightened himself up, quickly itching the side of his head to personify which direction he should take to find the Castform.

Hmmm... would a Castform most likely be located in Greenhouses... or more in the nature?

"Err... I guess... I'd go in the direction of those glass structures?" answered Bill.

He started unpacking out a brand new, latest model, Pokeplayer - tieing it to his belt. Then he unzipped a small binder-like case full of discs, grabbing out one that had the Pokemon "Castform" scribbled in Sharpie marker on it.

"Should I be using this yet?"

Bill chose to go to the greenhouses, which was were Castform were usually sighted. We began walking, and along the way Bill unpacked a brand new Pokeplayer and clipped it to his belt.

"Should I be using this yet?" he asked me.

"Well, the sooner you start it playing, the better chances you have on encountering the Pokemon you want faster," I replied.

Bill nodded, and pulled out a disc with some writing scribbled on it. My eyepiece automatically zoomed in, and I read the word 'Castform'.

I grinned. This Trainer seemed quite single minded.

"So, is there any particular reason you want a Castform?" I asked Bill as we continued walking.

As the disk started playing, strange and almost artificial cries of Castform were repeating in a loop every few moments.

"Well, I've always thought that the intelligence of we humans were restricted. Until I started doing time consuming research and discovered the Porygon and Castform. Porygon has been hopelessly upgraded by scientists continously, but they've failed to control its artificial intelligence even after several upgrades to its system. Castform on the other hand is much less hostile and was engineered to be more of an organic Pokemon, it has the ability to control weather and change forms in it. I've always found it to be a cute lil' blob according to photos I got off of it from magazines. Seems interesting that such a small thing could control every weather known to man, that's why I want Castform," lengthily explained Bill with deep detail.

After a little conversing and interviewing, the two finally paced downwards to the first greenhouse. Bill notices thies to open the door, figuring out that it's sealed. He then notices there's a little hole for something like a key to place in just about the handlebar.

"Ummm..." awkwardly paused Bill.

Bill explained at length his fascination with Pokemon that had been tampered with by humans. It seemed like as good a reason as any: it was preferable to someone who wanted to catch one for a collection then shove it so far back into the Storage System that it never saw daylight again.

We stopped at one of the greenhouses, and Bill tried to open the door without luck. I frowned. Usually, public buildings like these weren't locked. I wasn't even aware they could be locked.

I looked over the handle, and I saw that it had been lightly welded shut. Obviously by some prankster.

Frowning, I pulled back my coat, revealing a device strapped to my wrist. I pulled out a little nozzle on the bottom of the device, and a small, well-controlled flame burst from the bottom.

"Stand back," I said as I cut the door open. Small sparks flashed onto the ground, but none caught alight. When the welding was undone, the door swung open by itself. I looked around inside, and saw some movement at ground level. I waved Bill over, and I gently peeled aside some leaves.

A tiny little Cherubi was moving around, looking for a feed. It had one small red head, and a smaller one connected by a green stem.

"Wanna try and catch a Cherubi?" I asked Bill, holding the leaves aside so he could see.

"Ehh, not a Castform..." uneasily responded Bill with dissapointment for the lack of the target Pokemon, "I think I'll just skip it... theres too many of those annoying pseudo-fruits where I live anyways..."

"Ehhh, not a Castform," Bill mumbled.

I shrugged, and let the leaf fall back to its natural position, hiding the Cherrim. We set off through the glasshouse. It was a litte warmer than I liked it in here, and also strangely humid. Some of the larger plants were planted at ground level, and some were in pots on shelves and tables. If Bill encountered a Pokemon he wanted to catch, it would be hard battling it without breaking things.

"You know, you can take three Pokemon out," I said, "and there's no guarantee you'll run across a Castform. If I were you, I wouldn't focus on one Pokemon so hard that you ignore all the others."

"Yeah," I replied, nodding my head. "One of the rules is that you can leave with up to three Pokemon you catch. So if you run through here and come across a Castform, that's great. But you're not really getting your money's worth unless you catch two more Pokemon. Hell, even if you don't want them, maybe you know someone who does. I've got a little sister who is always pestering me for a Pikachu."

Bill looked thoughtful as he took this in.

We kept walking through the glasshouse, but there were no Pokemon to be seen.

"Argh, seems like this area might be empty? Or wait, are all the Pokemon hiding?" Bill complained a little, then asked a question. He then began checking objects like leaves and things to see if any stealth Pokemon were hiding away,

Bill began checking behind leaves and plants for Pokemon. That was a good idea, sometimes the rarer Pokemon didn't appear often.

The search was punctuated by a beeping noise, as the readout on Bill's Pokeplayer changed from 5 to 4.

Bill was looking behind a pot plant on the ground when I heard a squeaking. As Bill had moved the plant, he had disturbed a small yellow seed-like Pokemon. The little Pokemon looked up at him with large eyes and squeaked rapidly, obviously telling him off for disturbing its rest.

I laughed. It was a Sunkern.

"Do you want to try and capture it?" I asked Bill.

"Wow! A wha?!" Bill opens up his Pokedex and puts in the name of the Pokemon, bringing up a generic image of it+extra information.

"I've never seen one of these where I live before! Alright, I'll go for it!" answered Bill in excitement.

He rapidly unclicks his 3rd Pokeball off his belt, flinging it into the cleared center of the greenhouse.

"Go Devourer! With your Wonder Guard, you'll be able to easily withstand this Grass-type Pokemon!"

A seemingly lifeless animation floated out of the Pokeball. Its body seemed wickedly frozen into one position. Its eyes were frozen in one spot. It had a quite noticeable gaping hole in the back of its body.

"Shedinjjaaaa..." rumbled Devourer.

"Let's catch a Sunkern!"

Bill chose to battle the Sunkern, which was strange. Most Trainers refused to even look at them, because they were statistically the weakest Pokemon in existence.

Bill released a Shedinja from a PokeBall. I was jealous. I wanted a Shedinja, but my Nincada hadn't yet evolved. Shedinja was a good choice for battling Grass type Pokemon because of its Wonder Guard Ability, but I couldn't help feeling like I had forgotten something.

"Be careful not to do any damage to the greenhouse," I warned Bill.

The warning didn't seem needed, however - he intentionally released the Shedinja in the middle of the greenhouse, where the least amount of breakable objects were.

The Sunkern saw that it had a challenger, and its eyes narrowed. It floated over to the opposite side of the empty space.

And the battle began.

The Sunkern began trilling in its' shrill, squeaky voice. As it did so, I could feel the heat inside the greenhouse increasing.

I swore quietly. The little seed was using Sunny Day, which in turn was making the glass house hotter. I hated the heat.

The Shedinja's empty-like "eyes" started glowing in a distinct purple, and it quickly spun a gas-like ball of aura in the same shade of color.

"Now launch it at that Sunkern!"

"Bah, Sunny Day? What will that thing do to my Shedinja with that?" Bill snorted.

He was mostly right. Usually, Sunny Day would allow Sunkern to fire off rapid Solarbeams, but they wouldn't be any use against Devourer's Wonder Guard. The only thing Sunny Day would bring to the table in this fight was a slight bonus to Sunkern's healing Synthesis move.

"Devourer, create a Confuse Ray!" Bill ordered.

Devourer's eyeless slits began glowing purple, and mutiple purple orbs swirled around its body, growing bigger as it did so. When they were fully formed, the orbs glided towards the Sunkern, still rotating mesmerisingly.

The Sunkern tried vainly to watch them all at the same time. It spun, first to the left, then to the right, as all the orbs spun around it, at different angles and different speeds.

Sunkern was so busy turning and trying to chase the orbs that it smacked into a pot plant.

I nodded. That was a good opening move, but Devourer would need to use more than status attacks to capture this Sunkern.

The Shedinja rose to the top of the greenhouse building, then in an instant, it quickly started flying downward at the Sunkern at intense speed. Almost quick enough to see the air around it streak. The tiny horn-like outgrowths on the top of its head looked even sharper.

Sunflora was still in spinny-spin phase as Shedinja collided into the Pokemon. A devastating blow!

Even as the Sunkern spun around in confusion, Bill was planning his next move.

"Let's show it an Aerial Ace!" he called.

Devourer rose high into the air without moving a muscle. It then descended rapidly, heading straight for the little yellow and brown seed.

It struck the Sunkern firmly, and the little Pokemon was thrown against a pot. The pot rattled, but did not fall over and break.

The Sunkern looked up at the Shedinja as it flew in a large wide circle. It squeezed its tiny eyes shut, and from its mouth a pencil-sized Solarbeam shot out towards Devourer.

Just before it hit the immobile Pokemon, an invisible force curled the beam around Shedinja, dissipating it as it did so. Sunkern saw this, and its mouth dropped in shock. It tried to fire another beam, but the little beam exploded in front of its face! It was still confused!
