"Teddson, disrupt its thoughts with an Uproar and try to break yourself out of the ice with Brick Break, then continue both attacks against the Shiftry." Buzz spotted Siless covering his ears and implying he should do the same. Buzz happily obliged, hearing an Uproar was never a fun experience. The sheer force of the sound wave appeared to force the Shiftry backwards.

It seemed to damage the Shiftry, but then the shiftry seemed to swipe his arm's propelling a crescent of air at the Ludicolo. The impressive power of the current of air made it visible it appeared to carve its way through the uproar attack and struck Ludicolo. Teddson doubled up in pain as the Air Cutter attack seemed to strike in a weak spot of Ludicolo.

This gave the Shiftry was still being forced back by the Uproar, Teddson took the initiative and used this time to Brick Break his way through the surrounding Ice, it was an efficient way to remove the ice. Soon Teddson was free completely and looked at the Shiftry.

Unfortunately the time it had taked for the ice to be smashed completely, it was clear it had come up with a new plan. Suddenly the Shiftry had thrown itself high into the air using Bounce. What did it have instore for Siless and Teddson. Buzz was eagar to know, as this interesting battle raged on neither side appearing to be weakened heavily. There was still a long battle ahead of them.

Teddson took a strong hit from the Air Cutter. It didn't appear to hurt him badly, but every bit counts at this point in the battle. I needed a way to buy him time, and hopefully damage at the same time, though that may be getting greedy.. If I didn't find a way to stop or avoid Bounce, however, it would hurt far more than that Air Cutter did.

"Teddson, make a Substitute using your energy and toss it into the air to intercept Shiftry!" My Ludicolo seemed to think it was humorous, chuckling as he shook off his outer pineapple coat to create a substitute while growing a new one, but he excelled best at those attacks that would probably end up funny. That and dancing, which would hopefully come up next.

Ludicolo's upper body strength was up there; it was able to learn Seismic Toss, which is far more controlled than what I was ordering Teddson to do. Teddson didn't need to know the move itself for what I wanted him to do, though. All I needed was for the Shiftry to be knocked off target, as a Bounce is inaccurate if you got pushed while falling, even if you could alter your descent with wings or, in Shiftry's case, hands full of leaves.

Teddson picked up his shed coat, muscles twitching to some imaginary tune, and launched his Substitute skyward. The act of making it must've drained him, but I figured it would be a great distraction or defensive maneuver against the Bounce attack. Still, now I needed some way to counter the steady damage my Ludicolo was taking. I wished I had purchased that Drain Punch TM for Teddson; it would've really been useful here, though I suppose I would have to do without for the battle, and I'd have to come up with something else for hopefully-high-damage while healing.

For now, we needed to take advantage of Bounce's time in the air. "Teddson, start Rain Dancing and restore yourself with your Rain Dish ability!"

I didn't need a storm as strong as the one Sela made. I wasn't aiming for a completely black-out, though it wouldn't hurt Teddson that much since he could just stall it out while recovering his health. Still, we needed to fight. A drizzle would be just as efficient for Rain Dish, and would let everyone see and the fight continue. I doubted we had enough time for a storm anyways; we had to continue the fight as soon as Shiftry landed or risk a pummeling.

Joe decided to take another shot at catching the Sentret. At this point, I was beginning to lose interest in the battle, so I was glad that we'd finally be able to move on.

"Whad'ya think, Clucky? Is it gonna work?"

She shrugged, sitting down next to her new friend.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do next. If I really wanted to find a rare Pokemon, I'd use Raiguy to look from the air. The only problem with that would be leaving Sentret and Clucky on the ground. I decided to stay, since Joe wasn't finished his battle yet.

"Good luck, Joe!" I yelled from the sidelines.

"I'll take your word for it," Joe replied, taking the Parkball. He bounced the orb in his hand a few times before tossing it at the Sentret once more.

"Good luck, Joe!" Daniel called to his friend as it left the teen's hand, being pushed by the wind towards the target.

The red-and-white-colored sphere touched the wild creature lightly on the tail, then a red erratic beam of sorts sucked her in. She did not seem to struggle inside the Pokeball, as it only needed to shake twice before we heard a satisfying click.

I walked over to the tranquil ball, picking it up quickly so as not to delay much longer. "Congratulations! You captured the little thing. I'll have to keep it for now, though - but don't worry, it'll be safe in my bag."

I led the two trainers past Gardens' gate, scanning the vast area upon entering. There seemed to be Pokemon everywhere, so free and wild. This whole place could actually be a make-shift battle field, I breathed in the fresh scent of the wildlife, smiling and cherishing the moment.

My eyes gazed around once more, much slower this time. I did not where where we should start first, so I decided to ask the male trainers. "Right, so, would you like to search the Greenhouses or just roam around out here? We could also follow that trail over there, which should lead us way deeper into the Botanic Gardens."

I gasped suddenly, though, tugging on Joe's sleeve. "Look! Over there... It's Shaymin!" The Grass-Flying-type was a small, hedgehog-like creature. Its body was pure white in color, while back was covered with green fur. There was a pink flower with two leaves on each side of its head, which resembled the Gracidea flower. The creature's legs were short, and its underside was seemingly plump - though it was a bit hard to tell since it was a good distance away from us. To date, Shaymin is the smallest Legendary creature.

I averted my gaze from the mythical entity for a while to check on Daniel. He, too, seemed to be in awe as he looked at it. He had his own encounter, though - one that was sneaking up behind him, Clucky, and the little Sentret.

"Hey, Daniel, there's a green - or should I say Grass - monkey coming up from behind you," I told the trainer, stifling a small laugh. I pointed over his shoulder to the primate-like, green-and-yellow Grass-type Pokémon. The upper half of its head and the broccoli-like sprout atop was green in color, save for a pattern of three yellow, tapered seed-like shapes in the sprout's "foliage". Its eyes were oval-shaped, with large pupils, while the lower half of its face was yellow with a small, dot-like nose. Its upper body and its skinny forelimbs were also yellow-colored, and its hands seemed to have no fingers, aside from thumbs. The entity's lower body was green as well, with small feet. Its wiry tail is tipped with two leaves.

"Would you like to battle the Pansage?" I prompted him with the question, as it was Park Policy to ask.

"Teddson, make a Substitute using your energy and toss it into the air to intercept Shiftry!"

A flying substitute; thats a new one, Buzz thought. He watched as the Pineapple like Ludicolo began to create the dummy. Often used as a means of protecting against status moves and non damaging attacks, this was a first for Buzz.

With a great heave of effort the shell of the Ludicolo was hurtled towards the incoming Shiftry. High above, the dark from of Shiftry began to decsend. It didn't spot the oncoming Ludicolo substitute until it was too late. The Shiftry who was falling with body spread wide was hit by one the oncoming doll like object. It clipped one of its arms which spent Shiftry spiralling out of control.

There was a crash amongst the nearby trees as leaves fell to the floor. The shiftry crawled out of the undergrowth it looked rather battered and bemused. Beside it followed the Ludicolo substitute which shattered upon impact with the ground.

Meanwhile Siless had taken advantage of the falling time and ordered Ludicolo to summon the rain, and rather predictably the rather happy Grass type had begun hopping pleasantly as the cloud cover began to thicken. Rain, gentle at first, began to pour down upon the grassy area. The rain gathered in the sombrero like hat of the Ludicolo, who suddenly shone a pale white as the rain appeared to absorb into it. Rain Dish was clearly a very useful ability.

The was a flash of green light as a swirling mass of leaves flew at breakneck speeds towards the Carefree Pokémon. There was no time for Siless to react as the storm flooded over the dual typed Pokémon. Buzz eyes flicked over to the Shiftry, it appeared to have recovered from the fall and the Leaf Storm attack appeared to be at a decent power level. The Shiftry still had lots of energy and was just as eager as ever.

Buzz could see no quick conclusion to this battle, so he took out an item ball and released a small metalic folding chair. He quickly sat down and relaxed as he watched the battle, he still felt rather alone without River to converse to but he knew it was safer if she was tucked away in her Poké Ball.

I put my feet up on my desk and sighed, relaxing as I listened to the sound of birdsong. The Gardens were truly a beautiful place, and I'd opened all the windows so that there was a nice breeze running through. I loved being indoors, but I hated stale air. Luckily, the main work-section of the outpost in the Gardens were perfectly placed to tease moving air inside. The architect was a genius.

I leaned back on my chair and was contemplating taking a nap when I heard footsteps. I sighed and opened my left eyelid a crack to get a look at who was coming my way. Unfortunately for me, they had already arrived. A pair of piercing blue eyes were staring straight into mine. I toppled off my chair in surprise, hitting the wooden floor with a loud thud. I shook my head to clear away the stars and groaned.

"Elisa, I wish you wouldn't do that," I said weakly, climbing back into my chair.

Elisa put her right hand on her hip - her left hand was balancing a stack of papers. "I'm just a tad bit overworked, and a Team Run just came through, so I thought you wouldn't mind taking it," she said, dropping the papers on my desk before I could answer.

"Of course," I replied immediately. It was no secret that I wasn't very good in confrontations, especially versus women. Elisa gave me a smile and walked away, long brown hair swishing behind her as she did. I shook my head again, and took a look at one of the forms. The first person was one of the Rangers here who went by the name Ataro. I'd never really crossed paths with him, but there were plenty of rumours about his skills and high connections. It'd be nice to rub shoulders with him for a bit.

I looked at the other form, and immediately jumped out of my seat in surprise. The second Trainer was Cameron, a regular Park visitor and long-time friend. I'd taken him through on two runs already, both very eventful. It'd be good to catch up with him again.

I quickly looked around and patted myself to make sure I had everything, which I did. I then strapped my pack to my lower back and slid my pistol home into it's holster before running out the door: it wouldn't be long before my Trainers arrived, and I certainly didn't want to keep them waiting.

"We're almost there!" I shouted out to the pilot. He seemed a bit annoyed because I had been saying that the whole way there. I looked down and saw an enormous island up ahead. I could see the smoke coming out of the volcano. It was like that the last time I came so I didn't worry too much on it.

"Ready Shadow?" I asked as I prepared out parachutes. He let out an excited bark and moved towards the opening of the plane.

"Jump on my mark." The pilot said. "One... two... three...!" I wasn't sure if three was the mark or not. Usually it was one, two, three jump, but I wasn't sure if that was his mark. Reguardless, I jumped anyways. I looked behind me and saw Shadow falling close behind. A couple of moments later, I pulled the string that opened my parachute, Shadow did the same with his teeth. We slowly descended towards the outskirts of the Botanical Gardens. As soon as we touched ground, the paracute automatically folded and went pack into my pack. Same thing happened to Shadow's. It was Mindbender's doing. She was using her Psychic powers to quickly assemble the parachute back into place. I took Shadow's pack off and placed it in my bag.

"Let's go find our Ranger and partner." I said to Shadow as we took off to the main entrance to the gardens. Standing at the entrance was none other than Ranger Chainy, a Ranger who I had quite liked. He was one of the more experienced Rangers, so having him on my expedition was going to be great, especially since he could help me find a Ferroseed and Durant.

I pulled out my Pokeplayer and inserted a Ferroseed disk. I wasn't wasting anytime at all. As soon as Ataro arrived, I'd play it. I walked over to Chain to let him know I had arrived.

"Hey Chain, long time no see." I said as I approached him.​

 

I still remembered back on the land, when I had saw that Cameron was going to travel to the island through means of a helicopter. I saw him from a distance and was definitely feeling snubbed and upset - he was just showing off how rich he was. I decided that I wasn't about to let him snub me just like that. Besides, I needed a way to travel to the island. Our destination was Botanic Gardens; an area which was off island and separated by the blue ocean by a couple of distance. And that was why, I had decided to use the cheapest way of travel mode, and still equally cool.

"Good job guys, let's speed up so that we don't keep them waiting!" I shouted, while trying to get my voice above the loud crashing noise from the wave currents.

I grinned proudly as I sat on Snorlax's shoulders comfortably, while he surfed through the sea currents smoothly and expertly. This was nothing difficult for it, since it has mastered the Hidden Machine called Surf, even with his immense weight. I looked to my sides, and both of my Pokemon were surfing alongside me and Snorlax as well - Bibarel and Lickilicky. Even though all of them were pretty bulky Pokemon, they had mastered and learned the move Surf, so this was a simple task for them. In fact, they were even happy to be able to Surf through the currents. Once I had asked them to speed up, they gained the momentum on their feet, as they rushed through the waters even faster magically.

Then, I heard the loud noise from the spinning blades of the helicopter - it was already hovering over the island. From the door, I had managed to spot a human that seemed like he was preparing to jump, alongside with a Houndoom as well. As they finally jumped out from the helicopter, Snorlax alerted me at the same time - as the island was already in sight. We were about to reach within the next few minutes. I continued looking up, and there he was - Cameron with his Houndoom - parachuting down. Judging from the way thinks looked now, I gathered that Cameron should be able to reach the island faster than me, but I didn't care too much.

As we were nearing the shore of the island, I managed to spot the last glimpse of Cameron's parachute as he touched down on the opposite side of the island. I then called out for my Pokemon to divert to the other side, so that I didn't have to walk too much. While we circled around the island and sped for the final distance, I managed to spot the faint silhouette of two people and a Pokemon - presumably Chainy, Cameron, and Cameron's Houndoom. I waited for the final few seconds of surfing, and my Pokemon had reached the shore of the island safely.

"Hey guys!" I shouted as I walked towards them with my Pokemon, while waving in the air.

I quickly settled myself down, since I knew that we were setting out for the expedition as soon as we're ready. Cameron was only holding onto a Pokeplayer, so I gathered that he was ready to use his Voice Disk any time. I took out three Pokeballs at the same time, and beamed all of them at my Pokemon in one single shot, while thanking them for the transport. I then took out Skitty's Pokeball and unlocked the capsule; releasing a small-sized, pink feline creature. She was one of my most favorite Normal-type Pokemon, mainly because she was just so adorable.

The stumpy body; the big head; the slender tail; the three pin-like appendages that had cream-colored heads; the four stubby and short limbs; as well as the Skitty's face which had resembled a lopsided crescent moon marking - was simply an image of cuteness. Skitty's character and behavior only served to magnify her image - especially the way she liked to chase her tail. She then starting purring adorably while looking at me with her slit-like eyes, and grinned sweetly. Although some people might think that such Pokemon had no capabilities to fight, it was in fact more enjoyable battling with such Pokemon - and they were a good company anyway.

I reached into my bag next, and took out my own Pokeplayer and Voice Disk. I quickly inserted the Voice Disk which had 'Bouffalant' scribbled on it into the player. My main purpose for coming to the Gardens was to capture a Bouffalant, and I wanted to catch one as soon as possible if it was going to appear. I managed to find a friend whom had wanted to go to the Gardens at the same time. After all, going on an expedition with a group is more fun than just with your ranger.

I got to the front gate to the Gardens panting. I certainly didn't want to be late for the start of this expedition. And luckily, I wasn't. I waited barely two minutes, and then I started hearing the faint roaring of an approaching aeroplane. I looked up into the blue sky and saw a black jet flying high over the island. It was hard to make out, but I could just see that the wings were comparatively small and the lines were very sharp, indicating that it was a new model. I always guessed that Cameron was rich, and here was proof: he would have had to pay out a buttload of money to afford the costs attached to a temporary flight-path over the island.

The plane didn't look like it was heading towards our landing strip, though. Instead, it simply flew in a straight line over the Park, being careful to stay away from the volcano. I scratched my head, not sure what was going on, until I saw two white parachutes open up. I grinned - leave it to Cameron to make a flamboyant entrance.

The two parachuters made good time down, and as they neared the ground the large folds of cloth folded themselves up and returned to the backpacks. I saw that one of the parachutes was being used by Cameron's Houndoom, Shadow. Shadow hated being put into his PokeBall - in previous runs, the Houndoom had had a hard time getting onto boats and such. Cameron bent down and picked up the parachute before stowing it away inside his own.

I cast a look around, and I saw the strangest sight. Three large Pokemon were almost flying across the large lake just outside the entrance to the Gardens. There was a Lickilicky, a Bibarel, and a Snorlax carrying a person on its shoulders. They all reached the shore, and the Trainer dismounted from the Snorlax, returning all three Pokemon to their balls. He then released a Skitty, and I realised it had to be Ataro - it was rumoured he had an affinity for Normal-typed Pokemon. Well, he'd come to the right place to find em.

By now Cameron had reached me. "Hey Chain, long time no see," he said.

An honest smile spread across my face, and I shook his hand fervently. "Yeah, it's been too long," I replied, "and it's nice to get out of the Great Lakes for once. No Kyogres in here."

I laughed, and then I heard someone call out "Hey guys!" I turned to look, and Ataro had walked up the slight incline to the gate. He put a disc into his Pokeplayer, and then smiled at us.

"Okay, I'm ready!" he said.

"Sure, it's good to see you," I replied. I wanted to know all the Rangers well. I walked over to the entry gate with both of my Trainers following me. I stepped onto a hidden foot panel and the mechanism inside it read my weight. I heard a chime, and the gates swung open, revealing the beginning of the network of paths through the Gardens.

"So, what are you guys looking for today?" I asked them.

"Yeah, it's been too long," Chain replied, "and it's nice to get out of the Great Lakes for once. No Kyogres in here." I couldn't help but to laugh. I remembered Dual fighting Kyorge, was an epic battle. I looked around wondering where he was. I was about to ask Chain when I saw something out of the corner of my eye.

It was Ranger Ataro coming in with his team. We were both going to this area so we figured we'd team along. Ataro was my last Ranger, and the ordeal we went through of finding my kidnapped Mindbender from the clutches of a demented Golett. It was crazy, but exciting. It was the kind of rush I liked, though I could do without the kidnapping this time, and I was certainly positive that Mindbender felt the same way.

"Hey guys!" Ataro called out once he landed. He, like me, already had his Pokeplayer out. We weren't here to waste time. "Okay, I'm ready!" he said.

"So, what are you guys looking for today?" Chain asked us once we were inside.

"I'm looking for a Ferroseed and Durant." I quickly replied. "Speaking of which..." I took out my disk and inserted it into the Pokeplayer. "I added some modifications to this Pokeplayer, let's see if it works." I played the button to my Pokeplayer, sending out the sound of a Ferroseed. I hoped it would attract one quickly, because I really wanted Durant more than anything. So if I caught Ferroseed, I could use a repellant and make Durant easier to find.

Then, one of my Pokeballs fell to the ground, releasing a large, long-tounged, pink Pokemon.

"Lickitung!" Lickitron cried out happily, giving me a big lick in the face with its enormous tounge. I just laughed and patted him on his head, wiping as much slime as I could off of me.

"That's right buddy, we'll find one and when we do, you can be up first to battle."

I waited for Ataro to respond. ​

 

"Would you like to battle the Pansage?" Elisa said.

I turned around, feeling hopeful. I'd never seen a Pansage before, and thought it would be a good Pokemon to add to my collection.

"I think a battle would be absolutely-" but I was cut off by the Pansage's expression. It was one of the most hideous Pokemon I'd ever seen. Its big eyes were staring directly into my soul. I wasn't sure I could live with myself if I captured it. Having a monster like that amongst my team would ruin my reputation... or worse, kill me in my sleep! It was like an evil Aipom bred with a Treeko and it grew up near a nuclear power plan. I smiled uneasily. "... unnecessary and Clucky would probably set the poor little thing on fire... LET'S GO."

I exclaimed, walking quickly, hoping to get as far away from the Pansage as possible. Not today, monkey Satan... I thought, throwing up a little in the back of my mouth. I feel as though when the great one was creating the Pokemon of the world, they got really lazy.

 

The substitute struck home. I had honestly never thought that those words would go through my mind, but a “doll” formed of my Ludicolo’s regenerating outer coat had just knocked Shiftry out of the air. As the tree-like Pokémon crash-landed, I felt a small bit of satisfaction knowing that the battle was that much closer to being finished. Teddson began a little victory jig to call in a small drizzle, as I had asked. He looked winded from the battle, but it hadn’t hurt his high spirits at all; he seemed better than ever, even, and now he would hopefully be topping that with more stamina from his Rain Dish ability. I wished I had gotten the Pineapple the Technical Machine for Drain Punch, as the move would have helped in keeping Teddson’s health up and spirits high, but that just left a bit of room for improvisation.

Before I could get Teddson back to attacking, though, a leafy burst emerged from where Shiftry landed; it used the powerful Leaf Storm technique, which was only second in power to the near-legendary Frenzy Plant in terms of directly damaging Grass-type moves. Not even Teddson knew the powerful move; he always made do with Seed Bomb and Energy Ball instead. The blow struck Teddson and interrupted his dance; I couldn’t see through the leaves, but it almost looked like it knocked him off his feet completely (which wouldn’t be hard, seeing as he was hopping around), since he was dusting himself off by the time the attack finished. He didn’t seem happy that his dance was interrupted, even though we got the desired rain on the field. Teddson was still enjoying himself with the battle, there was no doubt about that; he just.. hates being interrupted dancing unless it’s important, and he didn’t seem to take Shiftry as enough of a threat to stop dancing, just enough of a threat to get a bit frustrated at for making his dancing stop.

I had to get a command out so Teddson had something to do that wouldn’t jeopardize the battle; he wasn’t exactly the best tactician, and he knew it. On his own, he battled a bit recklessly, thinking of only using moves for damage (though he could effectively utilize a Rain Dance on his own). He always left himself open for physical strikes once he could deliver some of his own, and didn’t bother backing up for any attacks with potential range that he had. I’m his voice of reason in battle, I suppose, but to be honest his moves didn’t allow for much of a deviation from his offensive strategies; I focused more on getting him to use his moves less for damage and more for an adequate defense, and I served as a pair of extra eyes, but really most of what I did was let Teddson fight without having to think much of what move to use. He seemed to be just fine with that, though with how Teddson is I wouldn’t be surprised if he honestly didn’t care, as long as he had fun during battle.

“Teddson, get up close, charging up an Ice Punch and a Brick Break in your hands, and strike Shiftry with one punch at a time. When you connect, take a bit of his health through a fist-focused Giga Drain.” It was the biggest improvised attack I had done yet, unless one wanted to consider the Substitute Toss bigger than this. A combo of an improved drain punch and ice punch; I didn’t expect it to heal Teddson as much as a real Drain Punch would, but it was still something, and Ice Punch could hopefully hinder Shiftry.

The Pineapple Pokémon’s hands began to glow; one with pure power, the other with the reflection of light from ice crystals. They were far more intense than the glow of Teddson’s ‘hat’ from Rain Dish, and the whole thing made him look like a Jack-o-Lantern from the Sevii Islands. As humorous as the thought was, the glow meant that the battle was just starting.

 

"So, what are you guys looking for today?" Chain asked us.

"I'm looking for a Ferroseed and Durant." Cameron quickly replied. "Speaking of which..." He then took out his disk and inserted it into the Pokeplayer. "I added some modifications to this Pokeplayer, let's see if it works." He played the button to my Pokeplayer, sending out the sound of a Ferroseed.

Then, one of his Pokeballs fell to the ground, releasing a large, long-tounged, pink Pokemon. The Lickitung cried out happily, and gave Cameron a huge lick with its enormous tongue. It felt kind of unusual to me, because Cameron's and my character are quite different as compared to each other. In fact, even our Pokemon's character were quite different.

"That's right buddy, we'll find one and when we do, you can be up first to battle," said Cameron.

I decided to follow suit, and send out my very own Lickilicky instead. I took her Pokeball and toss it into the air; revealing a similar version of Cameron's Lickitung, except that mine looked a little different, more evolved, and bigger; as well as a longer tongue.

"Lickilicky, together with Lickitung, you can be the first to battle," I said. "Oh, and I'm looking for a Bouffalant of course!"

"I'm looking for a Ferroseed and Durant. Speaking of which..." he trailed off as he pulled out a disk and inserted it into the Pokeplayer at his waist. "I added some modifications to this Pokeplayer, let's see if it works."

"Interesting, it doesn't look modified at all," I said, looking at the circular red on his belt. My fingers started to twitch and I resolved to get a good long look at the device as soon as I possibly could. I continued to stare at it, picking out minor differences from the stock model, until a flash of white light distracted me. I looked over to the source, and a long pink tongue was licking Cameron enthusiastically. The tongue was attached to a Lickitung. It was always interesting when people brought not-fully-evolved Pokemon to the Park, they usually carried a trick their fully evolved forms couldn't use, or perhaps their Trainers just bonded with them in that stage and both of them were happy to keep things they way they were.

As if in response to Cameron releasing his Lickitung, Ataro re-released his Lickilicky. "Lickilicky, together with Lickitung, you can be the first to battle," he said. "Oh, and I'm looking for a Bouffalant of course!"

I nodded. Bouffalant were fairly rare Pokemon that often had bad tempers. There was a large herd here in the Gardens, and they often clashed with the Tauros herd that roamed the area as well. I remembered a couple months ago when I'd come up against a Tauros - considering I had a young Trainer with me, I'd been forced to flee from the enraged Pokemon.

"Well, let's get going," I said, turning and leading the two experienced Trainers into the Gardens. I pulled out my PDA and flicked my fingers across the screen - the Bouffalant were usually found in the open grassy area on the other side of the forest plot, so making a beeline for the plains through the forest should give us the best shot at encountering both of the Pokemon we were looking for.

I started to walk down the path to the forest plot, gravel path crunching underneath my shoes, when I heard some playful growling. A pair of Skitty rolled out from underneath a low bush, tails extended and eyes narrowed in mock combat. They hissed at each other and separated, bouncing backwards a bit, putting distance between them. I noticed that one of them had a bit of hair that stuck up on its head, giving it a punk-rock look. They were so focused on their practise battle that they hadn't even noticed us yet.

I turned back to Cameron and Ataro, indicating the two cat-like Pokemon with a wave of my hand. I noticed that Ataro's Skitty had its ears perked up, clearly wanting to go and play with the other two. "Either of you interested in a Skitty?" I asked them. I doubted they would, considering Cameron was a collector of rare and powerful Pokemon, and Ataro already had one, but you never know here in the Park. People often liked to catch anything that fell to hand just in case they didn't encounter the Pokemon they wanted - at least then they could use the Pokemon they captured instead for trade bait.

OOC: I brought two of each of those disks, just thought I'd let you know.

"No, I'm not interested in capturing them." I said, pulling out a doll and placing it on the ground. "I already have means of getting one, so I don't need these. All I want is these two Pokemon, so I'm going to try this again." I once more played the Ferroseed voice disk that I brought, hoping that I'd finally get it.

I looked over at Ataro and his Lickilicky, wondering if he was going to go for it. I knew he had come here for a Buffolant, so I didn't think he'd go for it. I heard he was just recently here looking for one but didn't manage to find one. He did however, get a Tauros in that run which wasn't a total waste since he was Nacrene's Gym Leader. ​

 

"Well, let's get going," Chain said, turning and leading us into the Gardens. He pulled out his PDA and flicked his fingers across the screen - though I wasn't quite sure what was he doing.

Regardless, we started walking down the path to somewhere deeper within the garden, but the path wasn't quite smooth to walk on. We were walking on some graveled pathway, so the road was pretty uneven. Suddenly, a pair of Skitty rolled out from underneath a low bush, as they wrestled around playfully.

Chain turned back to face me and Cameron, indicating the two cat-like Pokemon with a wave of his hand. At the same time, I noticed that my Skitty had her ears perked up; seemingly wanting to go and play with the other two. "Either of you interested in a Skitty?" Chain asked us.

It wasn't a hard question to answer. I already had a Skitty, and I was more than happy with my current one. Cameron indicated that he wasn't interested either, and placed a Pokedoll onto the ground to ensure a definite successful escape. Although to others, Skitty had looked like she wanted to play with them, I knew her only too well. I expressed my indifferent expression and threw a Pokedoll towards the pair of Skitty as well, and my Skitty jumped off my shoulder; walking up towards the pair of Skitty.

She eagerly strutted around - showing off her elegance and beauty, before turning her back towards the pair of Skitty, which I had assumed were male species. She walked back confidently to me and jumped back onto my shoulder, as if to show off her superiority over the pair of wild Pokemon. I waited for Chain to continue to lead us forward, while I hoped enthusiastically that something interesting would happen.

I nodded as I remembered our previous runs - Cameron was very focused on whatever he came in to catch, as opposed to me. I just caught whatever was cool that I happened to bump across.

I looked back at Ataro, and saw his Skitty wind gracefully around his legs. I could tell by his silence that he wasnt interested either, and I couldn't say that I blamed him. I held out my hand to indicate that we should wait for the Skitty to move on. They wrestled for another couple minutes, and then the tufted hair one swiped viciously at the other, sending it running. Tufty looked around and saw us watching it silently. It began to walk towards us but then it saw the Poke Doll Ataro had thrown in its direction. It darted forwards and grabbed the doll in its mouth before darting away in the opposite direction. I nodded, and began to lead us further in.

It was an uneventful five minute walk to the forest plot. It was one of the closest areas to the gate, sharing the distinction with the picnic area and the glasshouses. It was fenced in with chainlink fence, which meant getting lost in it could be annoying, but it was where Ferroseed were usually found, so it was out destination.

We arrived at the stone gate, about to go in, when I heard a small buzzing sound. A Combee flew from the direction of the greenhouses and circled around us, not sure what to make of our little group. I wasn't sure what to do - on a Team Expedition, all battles are supposed to be Double Battles - when suddenly the sun was blocked out. I looked overhead, and a large green-and-brown Pokemon dropped onto the ground between us and the gate, blocking our way. It looked like a tree, and had a bunch of bananas growing underneath its chin, and was slightly over a human in size.

"Well, how about these? You guys feel like battling? Remember, you'll have to fight them both if you do," I said.

As I had guessed, Ataro didn't want the Skitty either. He had come here for a Buffalo Pokémon, but I wasn't sure what else. I played my voice disk once more. I heard something big coming out way and quickly felt disappointed. Firstly, Durant or Ferroseed couldn't fly. Secondly, it sounded like something big, and neither Pokémon I wanted were that size. I looked ahead and saw a small Combee coming our way. Surely that wasn’t the sound I heard. I stopped and looked around, but couldn’t see anything.

Then Lickitron took off and ran behind a tree. “What’s wrong?” I called out, but before I could get an answer, a large Shadow flew over me. I looked up and saw a large green-and-brown Pokémon dropped onto the ground between us and the gate, blocking our way. It looked like a tropical tree, and had a bunch of bananas growing underneath its chin.

“LICKTUNG!” Lickitron cried as it jumped from the tree and onto Tropius’ back. Lickitron quickly landed on its back and extended his tongue onto the Tropius’s bananas, taking a few off. Before the Flying Grass Pokémon could respond, Lickitron jumped off his back and landed next to me with a huge grin on his face as he began to eat the bananas. Lickitron must have smelt the aroma of the Pokémon and knew what was coming. To pull a stunt like that and not get hurt was certainly his specialty, especially when it came to food.

“Well, if that doesn’t piss it off, I don’t know what will.” I quickly said. It wasn’t the way I wanted to start the battle, but I didn’t have much of a choice now. Lickitron had a habit of eating whatever he could find, even if it wasn’t his. My mistake was bringing him to the fall festival picnic. While everyone was waiting for the show to start, he went and ate more than half of the food there. He was more trouble when it came to food than my Snorlax, which I found to be hilarious, given the fact that Snorlax required a large amount of food.

“Ataro, do you mind if I battle this Tropius?” I asked him.

“No, of course not love.” He responded.

“Alright then Lickitron, drop those bananas and let’s get rollin’.” I called out. I figured Lickitron would try to grab more bananas, so I was going to use that to my advantage. “Start off with Ice Punch Lickitron, if you do well, you may find yourself with a treat.” If I was lucky, he’d hit Tropius hard enough to grab more bananas from its chin. I knew that was his intent so I just played along. “If you want more bananas, maybe you should try using Yawn as well, it will put it to sleep and you’ll get what you want more easily.”

Lickitron nodded and stared down the Tropius, moving from his eyes down to the bananas. With those in mind, Lickitron went charging with his fist drawn back, gathering small ice particles to freeze his paw. As Lickitron approached, I saw him begin to form a small cloud of gaseous toxins that I hoped would put the big plant to sleep. Those toxins caused any Pokémon that got a small whiff of it to instantly fall asleep. That was going to be a big help if it worked. Otherwise, Lickitron was going to get hit hard for stealing those bananas and violating the Tropius. I didn’t want that to be the case, but I could see it in Tropuis eyes.

“I’m going to have to find a way to calm it down if Yawn doesn’t work.” I mumbled. “Ataro, can you take care of the Combee, I don’t want it getting in the way and messing things up. Just keep it back for now if you can, unless you’re planning on capturing it.” I honestly didn’t see Ataro capturing the Combee, I didn’t see him having any use for it whatsoever. Perhaps if it was a Normal Pokémon like Castform he’d go for it, but for now I guess he’d just have to help me out. Keeping back that small Pokémon wasn’t going to be much trouble for him and his Lickilicky. That Lickilicky just had to swat it back with its long tongue and it wouldn’t have to worry about getting hit. I turned back to Lickitron who was now closing in on Tropius, he had fired the cloud of toxins at Tropius and was closing in on the blow. It was too close to call. ​

At this time, Cameron's Lickitung took a huge leap and got behind Tropius' back, snatching the bananas under Tropius' chin at the same time, before jumping back to stand beside Cameron. I wasn't surprised; I knew Lickitung and Lickilicky had ferocious appetite - they were second only to Snorlax.

“Well, if that doesn’t piss it off, I don’t know what will.” Cameron quickly said. It was probably a side comment about his Lickitung stealing the Tropius' food.

"Well, how about these? You guys feel like battling? Remember, you'll have to fight them both if you do," Chain reminded us.

“Ataro, do you mind if I battle this Tropius?” Cameron then asked me.

“No, of course not love.” I responded lovingly. I had always thought Tropius were exotic creatures, and they were actually kind of cool. Though, if Cameron had wanted it instead, I didn't mind letting him have it.

“Alright then Lickitron, drop those bananas and let’s get rollin’.” He called out. “Start off with Ice Punch Lickitron, if you do well, you may find yourself with a treat. If you want more bananas, maybe you should try using Yawn as well, it will put it to sleep and you’ll get what you want more easily.”

The Lickitung had started moving down, and went charging towards the large-sized Pokemon with a fist that was charged up with freezing ice particles. At the same time, a small cloud of pink toxin was starting to emerge from its mouth - it was Yawn. “I’m going to have to find a way to calm it down if Yawn doesn’t work.” Cameron mumbled. “Ataro, can you take care of the Combee, I don’t want it getting in the way and messing things up. Just keep it back for now if you can, unless you’re planning on capturing it.”

"Uh sure, why not," I replied casually. Combee was going to be an easy target to deal with, and Lickilicky was more than happy to play along with the target. Before I could even command, Lickilicky had already reached for the banana that Lickitung dropped beside Cameron, and chewed onto it herself. I put my palm to my head and sighed - this was Lickilicky after all. "Okay Lickilicky, let's enjoy this. Lock the Combee's movement with Disable, and get your big fat butt to sit on it!"

My Lickilicky groaned and stared at me - probably a little annoyed and embarrassed that I had called it a "big fat butt". She didn't mind too much nonetheless; she was more than happy to be able to sit on the Combee - it was in her nature after all. With a sudden swing of her tongue, the tongue blasted through the field at a mach two speed, almost completely blurred from sight as well - it was too fast. It would strike the Combee anytime, just like how a Golem would slam itself onto a Caterpie; except that once it made contact, the stunning effects from Lickilicky's tongue would Disable it and immobilized it temporarily. Then, Lickilicky would take advantage of the situation and plant herself on top of the Combee.

OOC: Tropius Gender?

I rubbed my eyes, which had been watering from the sun. It was only then that I realised the Tropius was scowling angrily, and that Lickitron was munching down on some bananas. I quickly put two and two together, and realised that while I wasn't paying attention Lickitron must have managed to steal some of Tropius' fruit.


“Well, if that doesn’t piss it off, I don’t know what will," Cameron remarked. I was kinda scared to ask exactly how Lickitron had managed to do it - I didn't like the little pink blob's changes against the large Grass type. I unhooked my drink canister from the side pocket of my pack and started to swill it - it wasn't even mid-day and it was already too hot for me. Today was gunna suck.

Cameron turned to Ataro. “Ataro, do you mind if I battle this Tropius?” he asked.

"No, of course not love," Ataro replied easily.

I did a spit-take, shooting water out of my mouth an easy two metres away. As I wiped my mouth I realised that these two were probably good enough friends to joke around about their sexuality, but still, this was the first time I'd had anything like this happen on any of my runs. I resolved to make sure they didn't get too close to each other - friskiness between Trainers was not encouraged here.

“Alright then Lickitron, drop those bananas and let’s get rollin’ Start off with Ice Punch, if you do well, you may find yourself with a treat. If you want more bananas, maybe you should try using Yawn as well, it will put it to sleep and you’ll get what you want more easily," Cameron suggested.

Following suit, Ataro said, "Okay Lickilicky, let's enjoy this. Lock the Combee's movement with Disable, and get your big fat butt to sit on it!"

Lickilicky shot Ataro a disapproving look and mumbled something before leading Lickitron into battle. Lickilicky's huge tongue lanced forward at the speed of sound, easily wrapping around the Combee and preventing it from moving. She began to reel in her tongue, and when the tongue was almost retracted she hopped into the air, landing on top of the Combee. The little yellow Pokemon tried biting Lickilicky viciously, but it didn't seem to do much damage to the large Pokemon - probably care of her protective layer of fat.

Meanwhile, Lickitron was running valiantly towards its large opponent. Its mouth was opened wide, and a grey cloud of swirling specks was hovering just outside of its mouth. Bright blue light also gathered around the Lickitung's right hand, covering it in the very essence of cold, even creating a few icicles and leaving some haze in the air behind it as it ran. When it was perhaps ten metres from the Tropius, the Yawn ball flew out, right in front of the Tropius' head, then detonated like a bomb. The Tropius sneezed, and its eyelids began to droop.

Not before it returned fire, though. The wings on its back began shuffling, and soon a veritable storm of leaves was scything through the air, striking Lickitron as me ran, scoring thin cuts all over his pink body and trailing lines of blood through the air. The stalwart Normal type never stopped moving forwards, though - he emerged from the cloud of leaves and jumped into the air, striking the Tropius firmly on the neck. He then grasped another banana from the bunch with his other hand and dropped to the ground, retreating to feast on his newly acquired snack.
