My ranger's reaction to my decision was something of complete shock. “Come on then, I don’t think it wants to bother us anyway. I’m sure if we just walk past it will leave us alone.”

He was completely right as we walked right past the small, arm-less Pokemon, continuing down the same path. It must have been sleeping or just ignored us. After what seemed like five steps a lean, brown-and-creme Pokemon dashes in front of us and stares at us. The recognizable brown rings identified it as a Linoone.

“You want to go after that Pokemon?” My ranger questions me.

"No, it's not really my type of Pokemon. Let's just leave it alone and if it won't let us, I can just use a Pokedoll."

“No, it’s not really my type of Pokemon. Let’s leave it alone and if it won’t let us, I can just use a Pokedoll,” Hallas replied, checking out the small Linoone, who was peering at us from its perch in the tree.

I pointed at the Linoone and made a ‘shooing’ noise, pointing away from us. The Pokemon clearly understood me because it looked where I was pointing. It must have not wanted to leave because it slowly climbed down the tree and started to edge closer to us.

I sighed in defeat and turned to Hallas. “You’re going to have to pass over some money if you want to continue on.”

Hallas nodded glumly and gave me some cash for the Pokedoll. I pocketed the amount and placed a Pokedoll in front of the Linoone, who was immediately enthralled by the doll, as all Pokemon often were.

It took the doll and ran back up the tree to enjoy its prize. With the little Pokemon out of our way we could carry on. So far Hallas had only caught a single Pokemon, I was hoping to change that very soon to make the run worth his money.

We had only gone a short distance when I spotted a large brown rabbits hopping energetically among some trees. It was a Lopunny, not a bad Pokemon to have, but not high on many people’s to capture list. I personally was looking to get one for its high speed, ability, and Switcheroo move. It made for some really good combos in battle.

“You want to try for a Lopunny,” I questioned Hallas.

My ranger pointed and the Linoone and made a loud 'shooing' sound. When that seemed hopeless, my ranger turned to me and said, “You’re going to have to pass over some money if you want to continue on.” I had to hand over the necessary funds to purchase a Pokedoll from him. The exchange was made and the ranger tossed the small, pink, Clefairy doll towards the small ferret-like Pokemon. It wasted no time to grab it and run off.

We continued down the trail and found ourselves near a brown, rabbit/human-like Pokemon. It was obviously a Lopunny. It looked at me and I looked back. Somewhere to my side, I heard my ranger ask me, “You want to try for a Lopunny?”

I shake my head, "No, its a really useful Pokemon, but I don't think I would ever use it. Let's just continue on and if it won't let us, I can just buy another Pokedoll."

Hallas denied wanting the Lopunny. “No, it’s a really useful Pokemon, but I don’t think I would ever use it. Let’s just continue on and if it won’t let us, I can just buy a Pokedoll.”

I had taken multiple people through the Gardens already and all my trainer had run into either a Buneary or Lopunny, but so far nobody had caught the Pokemon. While Lopunny wasn’t a powerhouse among Normal types or other types, it did learn some really nifty moves. I knew that if it was me I probably would have caught one, but that was just me.

“We can do that,” I agreed, back to my objective ranger mode. “Let’s see if it passes by and leaves us be.”

Sure enough the rabbit continued with what it was doing and quickly disappeared among some foliage. I was about to start forward when I heard a rustling in a tree directly next to us. I looked to it and spotted a pair of eyes starting at us. A rounded-brown head with a band of coloring around its eyes told me that it was a Nuzleaf. I pointed it out to Hallas and gave him a questioning look.

“We can do that,” My ranger replied to me not wanting the large-humanoid rabbit. “Let’s see if it passes by and leaves us be.”

As if the ranger could see the future, the Lopunny went on doing whatever Lopunnies liked to do and disappeared into some bushes. We attempted to kept on walking down the same path as before, but we encountered the next Pokemon on my journey through the Botanic Gardens a little sooner than expected. The ranger pointed towards a tree and I saw nothing. I squinted my eyes and I could make out a pair of eyes. A small, spherical, brown head appeared around them. I had to rack my memory to remember what this was.

Then it hit me, a Nuzleaf. Sure it or its evolved forms weren't the strongest, but there was a use for it. I look at my ranger and nod. This one I am going after. I grab a Pokeball off my belt which had a few different colored leaves on it and tossed it around in my hand.

A good battle always starts with a good tactic. If I were to send Sabre out just in front of the Nuzleaf, that would give it the edge and allow it to attack the Sceptile directly. My last battle with the Minccino went smoothly because of my planning. Monbrey was easily able to weaken it enough for me to get the capture. Sabre knows X-Scissor which is a great move against something like a Nuzleaf because of the double weakness to it. Would the full on offensive style of battle work here? Or should I try to stall it? All I know is that Sabre is my best hope.

I pulled out my Pokedex to get that little extra information about the Pokemon. I pointed it towards the Nuzleaf and the Pokedex began to recall all information about the small creature. Nuzleaf the Wily Pokémon. Nuzleaf have the ability to use leaves as a form of sound, reminiscent of a flute, that can confuse people and Pokémon, as well as comfort them. Nuzleaf are skilled in climbing trees. When in the wild, Nuzleaf tend to be pranksters, playing tricks on any Trainer or Pokémon who pass by their turf. Nuzleaf dislikes having its long nose pinched, and loses power if it is gripped for its nose is its weak point. Nuzleaf, dwelling in forests, is skilled at climbing trees. Due to the Grass/Dark typing of Nuzleaf, it is very weak to Bug type moves.

I kept passing the sphere back and forth between my hands conjuring up a plan for the battle at hand. It shouldn't have been that hard, but I really didn't want to mess this one up. I devised a simple plan that might help, but there would be no sure way to tell unless I try it out.

"Come out out Sabre," I said whipping the sphere into an opening of grass around the treeline, "I don't really know if this will work, but hit the Nuzleaf with a Screech and try to make it come out of the trees to fight. The when it makes its way out of there use an X-Scissor to try to hit it on the nose. Like the Pokedex said, its nose is its weak point."

The Pokeball exploded and out came out a large, green lizard. With a leaf-like tail and yellow bulbs on its tail, Sabre was quite the interesting Pokemon. It was said that the leaves on Sceptile's arms are strong enough to cut through trees, that would help quite a bit with this battle. Sabre changed its footing a bit while he got ready to release his Screech attack.

I just prayed that this battle would go as smoothly as the last one and I would end up capturing the Nuzleaf. Monbrey did such a great job last time with Minccino, now it is Sabre's turn to show off what he can do. The whole battle was planned out in my head, but you can never guess what a wild Pokemon will do.

At first I thought Hallas wasn’t going to catch the Nuzleaf, but then he gave me a nod, pulled out a Pokedex, pointed at Nuzleaf, and hit the button. Immediately the Pokedex started to spew out a bunch of information. Hallas listened attentively to the information and seemed to make up his mind on what he wanted to do next.

He reached to his belt and pulled out a Pokedoll. “Come out, Sabre,” he commanded his Pokemon, throwing the red and where sphere at an open plot of ground. “I don't really know if this will work, but hit the Nuzleaf with a Screech and try to make it come out of the trees to fight. Then, when it makes its way out of there, use an X-Scissor to try to hit it on the nose, Like the Pokedex said, its nose is its weak point.”

Sceptile gave its owner a nod and turned to the tree. It looked up a the glaring Sneasal and opened its mouth wide. Immediately a sharp noise started to emit from his mouth. The sound was directed at Nuzleaf, but it wasn’t exactly something a Pokemon could control one hundred percent. It was only a slight stinging sound, but I knew that it would be much more than that for the Nuzleaf.

The Screech never reached the tree because a stream of Dark energy suddenly sprouted from the tree and me the Screech in the open before it could reach the tree. Some of the energy dissipated from the sound, but much of it barreled past to strike Sceptile. The Screech faded away completely as Sceptile was struck by the Dark Pulse.

The earthly-brown Nuzleaf jumped from the tree a moment later and landed at the bottom of the tree facing the Sceptile. The Sceptile quickly recovered from the small damage inflicted by the Dark Pulse and charged Nuzleaf, the leaf-blades on his arms glowing a sickly green.

The Nuzleaf didn’t have time to dodge so it hunched lower to the ground and crossed his small arms in front of his body like a shield. It’s body flashed white for a brief moment just before Sceptile struck it. The attack pushed Nuzleaf back a few inches, but the Pokemon stood its ground and pushed back. Sceptile jumped back after delivering the blow and waited for his master’s next command.

Nuzleaf uncrossed his arms and checked for damage. It had lost a good chunk, but it was in no way out of the fight. It turned its attention to Sceptile and awaited the next exchange of attacks.

    Ranger Jojo

OOC: @MarioMiner; Feel free to ask me any question you may have.

I can’t decide if my bosses are the best or the worst. On one hand I got my job back, on the other one of them left a sticky note one my face while I was taking a nap. I was just waking up from a delightful nap when I put my hand on my face and found the little yellow note. I ripped it off my face and read it as I got out of my bed.

    “Dear Jojo,

Welcome back! There is a trainer coming in for the gardens, would you be willing to take them?

    -You bosses

    PS-We ate all the cookies

    PSS Jk!”

One hair bushing, teeth cleaning and cookie later I was ready to go. I grabbed my owl themed backpack Jolty and Star(My Galvantula and Staraptor respectively) and walked out of the ranger base. It was getting late and while it was not quite evening yet, it was definitely getting late. Some birds were chipping as I started the long walk down to the gardens. Sure I could have gotten a ride but the weather was so nice that I felt that it would be a shame if I did. After a little bit I reached the gate that lead into the gardens. I sat down on a bench and pulled out a tablet and started reading about my trainer as I waited.

Meyer still wasn't comfortable with Bob's new habit of setting him on fire. He patted the down the flames and kept walking. "Seriously, man. I know you don't like this, but why?" "Cynda!" Bob yelled cheerfully, as they arrived. Great. He hadn't even heard me. Juuust great. Meyer thought. The park looked big. He hoped Bob wouldn't stay on his shoulder the whole way. He could see outlines of Pokémon in there. He wondered what types they were. Outside, there were a few benches, and he saw someone sitting at one, but didn't see anyone else, so he asked, "I'm supposed to be going through here with a Ranger, have you seen anyone?"

I heard the noise of feet and looked up, there was a man approaching me. I studied him according to the profile this was Meyer it was his first time going though the park and was always happy to see new people get into the park. I also saw that he had a little Cyndaquil on him.

"I'm supposed to be going through here with a Ranger, have you seen anyone?" he asked as he looking at me. I stood up and put the tablet in my backpack. I turned back to him and held out my hand.

“I’m Jojo” I proclaimed “and I will be your ranger for today!” I turned around and walked over to the gate I slid my id card and pressed a few numbers in on the control panel. The gate rumbled and then slid open. I turned back to the boy.

“You ready to go?” I asked as I walked down the trail that had opened. We walked down the trail we didn’t have to go far before we found our first Pokemon. We were walking by a lone tree I looked up and saw a brown acorn like Pokemon. I pointed at it.

“That’s a Seedot” I said, “You wanna try and catch it? We can try to avoid it but it may attack us”

"That's a Seedot. You wanna try and catch it? We can try to avoid it but it may attack us,” his ranger, Jojo had said about a brown acorn-looking Pokémon. Meyer could tell that it was a Grass-type. It had really large eyes. It's acorn-head thing looked hard, so he remembered to aim for the lower parts of its body.
In that case it won't be much to Bob when he fights it! He thought. "Why not?" Meyer replied. Bob knew it was his cue. The Cyndaquil jumped down, set the flames on his back, and let them flare. "Start it off with a Swift!" Bob started shooting stars.

"Why not?" Meyer replied, "Start it off with a Swift!"

After hearing his trainer the little fire type jumped off of his trainer and landed on the ground. The Cyndaquil looked up at the acorn Pokémon and sent out a stream of stars as the flames on the back flared. The glowing projectiles flew up and since swift was a move that never missed, hit the brown Pokemon. The Seedot seemed to have been sleeping, and had one rude awaking from the swift hitting them. The Seedot fell out of the tree and landed flat on the ground. It got up and made angry noises showing just how displeased it was that we had severed it a rude wake up call.

The Grass type was not about to go down with out a fight. It started to chant and drew in dark energy from around us. It wasn’t dark quite yet, but it suddenly felt a whole lot darker. Soon a ball of shadows formed in front of the acorn Pokemon and was shot towards the fire type. Cyndaquil wasn’t ready for the attack and was hit by the shadow ball. I waited to see what Meyer would have his Cyndaquil do.

"Quiil!" Bob moaned. "Argh!" Shadow Ball, huh. Special on special. I probably shouldn't try another Swift, because that thing could launch a Shadow Ball in reply, sending the stars towards Bob. Huh. Maybe a hard-on attack is in order. And, Bob can get fast enough so that the Seedot can't try anything tricky. Meyer's thoughts were racing through his head like NASCAR. "Alright, Flame Charge!" Bob's body became engulfed in flames from his back, and Bob got fast. Real fast. He looked like a torpedo racing towards the Seedot.

"Alright, Flame Charge!" Meyer commanded as his little fire type’s flames flared up. The flames on the back then wrapped around the Pokémon’s body causing it to become a living fire ball with a hard core at the center. Much like a peach, only instead of sweet and juicy, you got spicy and fire. The Pokemon ran at Seedot who was focused on its next attack. The Fire type hit the Grass type for super effective damage causing the Seedot to be knocked back a few feet before jumping back up.

The Seedot was really angry now, since it started to jump up and down before beginning its next attack. The plants around Seedot started to glow. The trees, the grass, and flowers were glowing and even more rich shade of green. The glow came out of the plants, and floated over to Seedot were it collected into a large green ball. This ball was then shot at Cyndaquil who was still close after attacking Seedot. Seedot then started to glow becoming brighter and brighter. I recognized that attack.

“Seedot is using Solar Beam,” I said “That attack will hurt, unless you can interrupt or avoid it.”

“Seedot is using Solar Beam. That attack will hurt, unless you can interrupt or avoid it.” Jojo replied. And Bob's already weakened from the Energy Ball. Solar Beam requires the sun's energy, doesn't it? Well if I can block the sun... hey! The dirt is dry! It is kinda dusty, so maybe I can whip up a dust storm! And I think I know how... remembering Bob's moveset. I'm gonnna hafta pull this off fast, before Solar Beam is done charging! This will provide Bob with the speed to avoid it, if the dust cloud doesn't work. Bob's already trailing flames, after all. "Bob, use Quick Attack in a circle around the Seedot! Even if you get dizzy!"

He then made a sharp ninety-degree turn. Quick attack was too fast to make different kinds of turns. Cyndaquil ran in a square around the grass type. This in turn kicked up some dust. The longer Cyndaquil ran the most dust was added to the cloud that was forming.

Seedot kept on tying to get a good lock on the Cyndaquil, but it kept on slipping. It stopped gathering energy and tried to get a lock on Cyndaquil again. It fired what little beam that it had the time to power up, but the tiny beam bonce harmlessly into a tree. The tree bore a small black smoking part, but was fine other then that. Seedot looked very disappointed that its attack missed, and started chanting while doing a little dance. It was almost like a few invisible swords had appeared and was powering up its attacks. Now I could just wait for Meyer to send his next move.

Well that didn't go as planned. He noticed the Swords. Holy- maybe this is too much that I asked for... No! I am going to catch this Seedot. But how will this work? I've used different approaches so far. I started by aiming something, a non-physical move. Then I brought it in close, physical. Then I strategically didn't attack at all. But another physical approach would leave Bob open. It's likely the Swords would block a non-physical attack. Meyer was thinking really hard. He watched the Seedot closely. He noticed that above, the Swords had their points, but there was a large, unguarded area above its head. But it would be way too dangerous for Bob to actually go in, with the points. "Jump up to a branch and use Flamethrower down towards Seedot!" he commanded. Bob jumped multiple branches before aiming down towards the Seedot's acorn-like cap and breathing flames.
OOC: @Joltik; Do you need a gender for the Seedot? I would like it to be male, if so. And I really don't want the Seedot to use Explosion.

Cyndaquil jumped from branch to branch, making sure to take safe quick jumps, until it was right above the Acorn Pokemon. Cyndaquil reared his head back and send a stream of stars down towards the Seedot. Seedot was still finishing the dance of swords when the attack came flying in. Seedot was too busy focusing on he dance and chant it was doing to raise his attack. The flames hit the Seedot and set the Seedot on fire, but the flames soon when out. The Seedot looked very angry now, and was ready to make its next move.

Seedot jumped up and a strange red aura engulfed it. It almost looked like the little Grass type was on fire, only instead of doing damage it was firing up the little grass type. It made the cute little Seedot look more like a larger monster. The Seedot flew at the fire type, and hit him, sending him reeling back. Cyndaquil almost few out of the tree, but landed on a branch just in time. I was getting a bit worried about the tree that they were fighting on, fire type attacks being launched and all the rough housing could not be good for it. If Push came to shove I could put out any fires that may arise, but if the tree fell down the Pokemon would both be hurt.

Thank Arceus Bob's okay, Meyer thought. Now I just need to get in a few more hits. But I can't get Bob close in to the Seedot, else the physical attacks would hurt. Flame Charge still wouldn't be fast enough. I could risk it, but it's too dangerous. Flame Wheel, on the other hand, goes in and out, but is still close range. Alright then! "Bob, get down from the tree! Then, use Defense Curl!" Bob jumped down, landed on his feet in the soft grass, and curled up into a ball. He was prepared for whatever was thrown his way. In the mean time, Meyer pulled out one of his Park Balls. He threw it towards the Seedot, hoping it would be distracted by Bob's Defense Curl.

"Bob, get down from the tree!,” Meyer commanded, “Then, use Defense Curl!" The Cyndaquil leaped off of the tree and landed on the ground. The Seedot was a little confused at why the fire type had just moved down to the ground, but the Seedot jumped of the branch it was standing on and landed on the ground. The landing was a little off, but both Pokemon were fine. Cyndaquil pulled its legs up and tucked its head in, forming a ball. In this forum the little fire type would have increased defense and it would be harder for damage to be done. The Seedot started running over the fire type, getting some attack ready. Meyer tossed a ball, and I watched as it soared over Cyndaquil and hit Seedot. It bounced off of the Grass type enveloping it in a red aura and sucking Seedot in. The ball shock, once, twice, three times, then there was a click and the Seedot was caught. I walked over to the ball, picked it up, and put it in my backpack.

“Good job,” I said as I turned to face Meyer “I’ll be taking care of the Pokemon that you catch until we leave the park. Do you want to keep going or do you want to rest for a bit? We can keep going if you want.”

After throwing the Park Ball, it shook three times, and ended with a click. Meyer went to go get it, when the ranger went and picked it up. He didn't even need to ask before she mentioned, "I'll be taking care of the Pokémon you catch until we leave the park." He nodded in reply. "Do you want to keep going, or do you want to rest for a bit?" Jojo asked. "We can keep going if you want."
Meyer thought about his options. "Maybe we should take a rest. Bob sure needs one." He was right. The Fire Mouse Pokémon was panting, and looked like he was about to collapse. Meyer walked over to the small Fire-type and picked him up. Unlike usual, Bob didn't set Meyer on fire when he picked him up. He was definitely tired. The human walked back and sat down on the ground, looking around at the gardens. He pulled out the Energy Root he had bought, but then put it away. He thought that he would probably want to give it to Bob after the 3rd battle. If we even get there... He wasn't thinking the right way.
The gardens were beautiful. He thought he could see dust clouds off in the distance, maybe 10, 20 times the size of the one Bob made. He remembered seeing that Bouffalant and Tauros called the gardens their home. He also noted that it was one of the places where you found a majority of Fairy-type Pokémon. Togepi, Cottonee, Flabébé, Sylveon, Spritzee, Swirlix, and if you're lucky, you might see a Xerneas, the other rivaling locations being Abandoned Power Plant, (Mawile, Klefki) Meteor Valley, (Jigglypuff line, Clefairy line) Great Lakes, (Marill line) and The Woods. (Snubbull/Granbull) Meyer liked-no, really liked the Internet. He found out that Normal-types are decently common here as well. But of course, the main type of Pokémon here are the Grass-types. That's why he chose here in the first place. He wanted to catch a Pokémon before participating in a Pokémon battle, (OOC: And being too lazy to write a story or draw something, and liking RP'ing the most of all options) so he came here to the Park. He chose the Gardens because Bob could fight Grass- and Fairy-types easier, due to Fire > Grass in matchups, and Fire < Fairy, oddly enough. He remembered in the middle of the fight with the Seedot that not everything is tied down to type matchups. The boy wondered how many people came here without having done a single battle with their Pokémon. Surely there were others. He was glad that Bob didn't fall into the water, or get defeated by that Seedot, and all of the other troubles that the naughty little Fire Mouse got into that he got out of okay. Meyer let Bob fall asleep on him, hoping he would either wake up before or at the location of encountering, due to him being the only Pokémon he is allowed to use with him. That Seedot could be real handy, especially the way it doesn't give up. He was thinking about what Pokémon he could use that he could encounter here.
