    The Rare Candy was beginning to wear off a little when my ranger left us. For some reason, the picture of a foul magenta demon was imprinted in my mind, glaring at me, daring me to run. I shuddered.

    "My GOD that is some good shit," I said loudly to Ryuu. I looked around and noticed the derpy looking Irish kid from earlier had left. Instead, coming towards us like a bat out of hell was a man on the back of an Aerodactyl. The primeval Pokemon dropped out of the sky and landed expertly on the ground. The pterosaur's rider climbed off it's back and I swear to God I could hear Freebird playing somewhere.

    "I'm Leo, your new ranger," he said. He looked familiar.

    "Duuuuuuuuude, it's Bumbles. Fuck, man, I've missed you." I looked around absently. "Does anyone else hear Skynard?"

    Ryuu sighed and with one spike arm-thing, he poked my backpack pocket. In the pocket was an iPod, loudly playing... Freebird.

    "Oh. Well, that explains that." Just at that moment, two Deerling leaped out of the bushes and butted heads as if they were fighting. Then they stopped and stared at us. "The fuck are you staring at?" They didn't answer. Possibly because they were Pokemon.

    "Er... Well, do you want to battle them?" Bumbles asked, making the face my drug rehabilitation counselor told me people made when they wanted to pretend like they didn't know me.

    "Shit yeah, I want to battle them. I want the dude one. So I can name him after River Phoenix."

    Ryuu made a chuffing sound under his breath, one I recognized as laughter.

    "Dude, that reminds me," I told him. "Do you remember when I met you?"

    "Gar. Garchomp."

    "Yeah, back in Tijuana," I replied. Holy shit, man. Holy shit. I think Bumbles heard the beginning of this story or at least part of it." The Deerling were now wide eyed and looked semi frightened. "Dudes, it's okay. Stick around, you should hear this. I remember it like it happened two years ago.... Oh wait. Right, yeah. So this happened two years ago...."

    The streets of the desert city were hotter than the surface of the sun. Or at least that's what it felt like after spending two days walking around trying to find a Trapinch. I looked around at the colorful store fronts, mostly colorful because someone had gotten wasted and splashed paint over everything. For some reason everyone had painted their donkeys to look like zebras. It was the kind of place where a man (or 13 year old girl) could comfortably hit rock bottom. Next to me was my faithful Luxray, Sparks, and my less than loyal Dragonite, Glaurung. At some point, one of them had drawn on my face, and I still didn't know what they had drawn. Everytime I asked they burst into giggles.

    "Listen, if you guys can't do anything better than laugh at me, at least go get me another be- What the hell is that?"

    Walking down the street towards us was a mean looking purple and red dragon. Malice shone in his eyes and he walked with the step of someone who had killed not only 100 men, but 100 orphans, while their kittens in a nearby nunnery watched. Or something. Anyways, he looked like a hardass. As he walked towards us, people bowed their heads and stepped out of his way.

    "Guys," I muttered out of the corner of my mouth. "I want that son of a bitch." Reaching into my backpack I pulled out a pair of sunglasses and put them on. With the harsh glare of the Mexican sun out of my eyes, I could see somewhat better. However, I realized that all of the pina coladas were really screwing with my depth perception. Regardless, I stepped forward. "You!" I called out. The behemoth turned his head towards me, his predatory glance now fixed on my head. If he had eyebrows, he would've raised one. "I challenge you to a duel," I said, whipping out a revolver.

    "Chomp, Garchomp?" He held up his spike-arm things.

    "Oh," I said pushing the revolver back into my backpack. "I'm so sorry for your loss. At least they replaced your arms with those awesome spike things. Think someone could do that for me? I don't use my left arm that much, but I feel like I could really benefit from having a fucking sword where my arm should be."

    He stared at me blankly.

    "Um. Well then. Why don't we have a drinking contest?"

    He smirked. "Chomp!"

    Several hours later...

    "Oh my God, I freakin' love you," I said, falling over the Land Shark Pokemon. "You're like my best friend ever."

    "Gar..CHOMP CHOMP!" We both began screaming with laughter.

    "Dude, I am so taking you back to the States. But I'm not driving. Make Glaurung drive."

    "....And that, children, is how I met Ryuu. I had other adventured in Tijuana proceeding that, but those are for another day and not for the ears of younglings."

    The two Deerling now looked terrified out of their minds.

    "Oh right, I should be catching you. Chris, if you don't want one of these, just hang out where you are. Ryuu, use Fire Fang, but be gentle. I don't want to hurt the youngling. USE YOUR GUMS, DAMN YOU!"

    Ryuu ran towards the Deerling on the left.

    Chris looked over and saw a new Ranger appear within the Botanic Gardens. He looked more intimidating compared to Argent. Chris wondered if it was the experience of being a Ranger for longer between the two of them was the reason.

    Alaska with her ganster look asked Chris if he wanted to battle Deerling. The young trainer thought to himself. "This is just stalling and it sure looks cute..." Chris then looked at Crobat who had a glazed evil look in its eyes and was ready for battle. The sun shone brightly as the wind flushed over Alaska and Chris, along side their Pokemon. Crobat fluttered its wings smoothly through the small gust of winds.

    "Go Crobat, use Wing Attack!" Chris shouted and pointed at the small, grassy deer. "Deerling would make a great battling partner!" The young boy's poisonous bat started to storm quickly in the direction of the Deerling...

    "Wait, Crobat! Stop being hasty and take it slow!" Chris warned Crobat softly. "I do not want Deerling to be blown away by that one Wing Attack." The young boy brushed his short brown hair, and then tilted his head slowly. All Chris saw was the giant Garchomp raising its sharp, blue heard and snarling at the defenceless Deerling. The baby deer looked ready for battle and quickly brushed the ground beneath it. The grass was torn up from this Deerling... DID IT NOT LIKE GRASS OR SOMETHING!?!

    The wind blew softly across Crobat's sharp, purple wings and it dashed through the air. It swooped quickly and it's wings turn into a bright beam of light. Its Wing Attack was about to be unleashed! Deerling looked fierce and Chris worried that Crobat was too strong to weaken Deerling at all. Then, the trainer turned to Alaska.

    "Hey Alaska, am I doing this right?" Chris asked.

    I decided to leave Cameron - if I watched the battlef for too long I'd want to start to fight, and that wasn't a good thing. I bowed farewell to Mindbender-ally - she'd be fine in her battle. She was tough and wise - they were two of her qualities that attracted me. Those, her sense of humour, and her fine, fine ass.

    I reached out for partner-James through our mind link and requested that we swap Trainers.

    <Wow, I'm impressed that you'd put her safety ahead of your own gazing,> James-idiot snarked at me.

    I'm not a god-damned manwhore like you, I shot back.

    The blue light of my Teleport began to surround me. When I had bonded with James-second, I had given him a small part of my teleportation abilities. He didn't have enough to consciously move himself around, but I was able to use this latent power to summon him to wherever I was. It was a handy ability that had helped us out many a time.

    I grasped James-blue/phase and pulled him to where we were. Once the teleportation process was in effect, I transferred myself to where mystery-Normal-Ataro was battling a Bouffalant. This battle wouldn't agitate me as much considering that it was mostly over.

    "Snorlax-boy, let's do your favorite move. Send the Yawn bubbles towards the Bouffalant, but let's do something different too. Charge the outer layer of the bubbles with a weak electrical charge by using a spread Thunderbolt attack, so that we would be able to inflict both paralysis and sleep at the same time. Once you're done with that, quickly set up a temporary barricade with your Protect," Ataro-reliant commanded.

    Snorlax nodded and opened his mouth wide. A flurry of pink bubbles launched from its gaping maw and drifted towards the enraged/power-Bouffalant. A slight sheen of yellow covered the pink, and small sparks flickered across the bubbles' surfaces. When they reached the stomping-Bouffalant, they popped open all around him and the yellow mist slapped onto his skin. He roared and the mist turned back into sparks, which crawled all over his body, paralysing him.

    He looked over at the Snorlax and roared again, stamping his hooves and shaking his horns. However, it seemed to be more than the usual granstanding of the Bouffalant-annoyance. I watched the showing-off, and it began to enrage me. How dare this paralyzed Pokemon be so healthy and able? That's when it struck me - The danger-in-Bouffalant was trying to enrage and confuse Ataro-Snorlax!

    I averted my eyes and watched big-Snorlax-mountain. His fists clenched and his teeth gritted, but he resisted the impulse to lash out at the tired-Bouffalant. Instead he sat down on the ground and closed his eyes, and a bright white mist surrounded the large Normal type. Its Protect technique was much different to my own - mine was more solid and armour-like, but I had no doubt that this version was just as effective.

    The rage-lying-Bouffalant yawned, and began to lie down to go to sleep. But before it did, a soft white cloud began to surround it, obscuring it slightly and billowing in and out like a heartbeat. I couldn't quite see if the Wild Pokemon had gone to sleep, but seeing as it was laying down and unmoving it probably had.

    “Mindbender, come on back for now. Cybershock, you’re up," Cameron said as he returned his Gardevoir and summoned out his Porygon-Z. The duck-like Pokemon jerked and spasmed around as it took stock of the situation and processed all the data it was given. I was pretty good with technology, so I was pretty sure that Cybershock would be using either a three dimensional array or a hashmap to store all the information it was reading in.

    Hey Dual, Mindbender just got Attracted by the Tauros and she had to be recalled, I needled my partner Pokemon.

    He sent back an image of himself looking very unimpressed. He wasn't happy about Mindbender falling in love, even a fake love, but mostly he was just annoyed at the Tauros for using such a move. Dual always considered inflicting fake love on one's opponent to be a cheap way to win. He of course had access to the move, but he had never used it, being an honourable battler. He certainly had used it off the battlefield though.

    “Alright then, use Rain Dance and hit it with Thunder!” Cameron called out.

    Cybershock started spasming more, and thunderclouds began to roll towards us. The patter of rain began to surround us and I flinched slightly as the drops began to fall over me. I could always summon out Specialle or Meta and use them to ward of the rain, but it wasn't too heavy and all my gadgets were well insulated against water. Besides, Cameron might think less of me if I hid from a tiny shower like this, and I certainly wouldn't want that.

    As Cybershock shook and swayed from side to side, the Tauros closed its eyes and concentrated. Suddenly, six Tauros clones phased outwards of the original and surrounded it, pawing the ground with their hooves simultaneously. This Tauros certainly was a clever one - by creating a large number of targets, the Porygon-Z's incoming Thunder attacks would have to split up and therefore do less damage.

    I heard a thundercrack and a bright white lance shot downwards towards the group of Tauros. It split up into seven prongs, preparing to skewer each of the Pokemon. However, at the last second, a blue lightning bolt shot across, crashing into the white one, attempting to deflect it. Two of the seven prongs missed their target, and three of the others had their tips blasted off. I was now incredibly impressed - the Tauros had tried to deflect Cybershock's Thunder with its own Thunder attack!

    When the bright lights had faded, I saw that three Tauros were still standing. One of them had to be the real Tauros, but the other two must be the pair of clones that avoided the Thunder attack. They stamped their hooves perfectly in unison. Cybershock would have no way of knowing which one was the real one, so he was in a little bit of trouble.

    That damn Tauros wasn’t like regular Tauros. It irked me with its tricks, but in a way I liked it, and it did teach me a lesson. I shouldn’t always rely on devices and judge things by the cover. The Pokedex told me Tauros were always violent and only wanted to ram things and use attacking moves, this one however, was definitely different. You would think that I would have caught on by now, but it didn’t completely occur to me that this one was different. Now, instead of Attract, I had to deal with Double Team. I was sort of lucky that Thunder did away with most of them, but unlucky in the fact that Tauros countered Cybershock’s Thunder with a Thunder of his own. I didn’t even realize that Tauros could learn that move, which just made it even better. My knowledge on this Pokémon wasn’t great, but I was sure learning from this. Cybershock was doing a great job at keeping up with this Tauros and his tricks, Double Team was going to be a problem, but I knew how to handle that with Cybershock.

    “Hmm, use Lock-on on Tauros.” I called out, as I pulled out my usually Pokémon capturing utensils; a Calming Fragrance Plus, and a Hyperball. “Then use Tri Attack, however, don’t attack it too hard, I don’t want his burn to knock it out. You know exactly how much power to use.” I was glad Cybershock was part computer because he knew how much power was too much and could ease down on it so that he wouldn’t knock it out.

    Cybershock began inputting more data on the Tauros, possibly storing some for any other time he would battle a Tauros. I doubted that information would be useful since most Tauros didn’t act like this, or perhaps it was only the wild ones. I wasn’t too sure. However, I knew he wouldn’t use old information on a new, unknown opponent. He would have an open mind; it would just be there for reference if needed.

    Lock-on was basically a red beam of light that would shoot out of Cybershock’s body as he took aim onto his opponent. I wasn’t sure how well it would work through a Double Team, but I hoped it would go through the fakes and hit the real one. Once a Pokémon was locked on by the move, the attack could not miss unless the user called off the attack. Then, after his target was on sights, he would form three different colored beams. The beams of light would be red, blue, and green ray and would shoot out of his mouth. The three beams would intertwine together to form a radiant multi-hued beam that he would launch at Tauros. Tri Attack usually had a side effect that inflicted a status effect such as causing a burn or paralysis, or even freeze the opponent on contact. It had a small chance to cause that, which was too small to count on, but right now, I was really hoping it wouldn’t work. I didn’t need any of those to capture the Tauros. I felt that I already had this in the bag. I didn’t like being so cocky, but something told me I had this.

    Being a collector and having a certain Pokémon in mind and then not getting it was sort of disappointing. I knew though that this run was not a total loss, in fact, I caught one that I did come here for, plus a bonus of two extra Pokémon that I had my eye on some time ago. After all, I could always come back in and try again, there was no way I was letting go of getting a Durant. I didn’t like going to the same area more than once, but sometimes you just had to make an exception. I went to the Abandoned Power Plant three times before finally finding Cybershock. Although I didn’t like going to the same places back to back, I was glad I did because if I hadn’t I probably wouldn’t have added Cybershock to my team and never encountered him.

    Cybershock let out a small beep which snapped me back. I looked back at the field and saw Cybershock sending of the red beam, Lock-on. That was my signal to release the fragrance. I opened the small bottle and let the scent go into the air and calm down the Tauros. Then I enlarged the Hyperball and sent it flying into the air. My aim was better than last time, but if I missed, Cybershock was there to guide the ball with Psychic if needed.

    Team Run - Alaskapigeon and Fossil Fusion.

    Commencing...

    "Shit yeah, I want to battle them. I want the dude one. So I can name him after River Phoenix." Alaska responded. The girl was definitely odd, she claims to know me, but I had no knowledge of ever knowing here. Shadow looked up at me and shrugged. I was warned before about some crazy girl with dynamite in the Park before, I wondered if that was her. If it was, I was going to have to keep a close eye on her for anything suspicious.

    "Dude, that reminds me," I told him. "Do you remember when I met you?" She asked Garchomp. He answered her, but I wasn’t sure what he said. "Oh right, I should be catching you. Chris, if you don't want one of these, just hang out where you are. Ryuu, use Fire Fang, but be gentle. I don't want to hurt the youngling. USE YOUR GUMS, DAMN YOU!" She had finally stopped rambling, her speech was a bit slurred so I listening to her was a bit difficult, however, her Garchomp seemed to understand just fine.

    "Go Crobat, use Wing Attack!" Chris shouted. "Deerling would make a great battling partner!" The Crobat seemed eager for battle as it rushed at the deer.

    "Wait, Crobat! Stop being hasty and take it slow!" Chris called out, which was probably a smart idea. Deerling weren’t that strong, they, and they were weak to Flying types. "I do not want Deerling to be blown away by that one Wing Attack." I doubted that Wing Attack would blow it away, but you never know. Having Crobat lower his power level was a good idea, at least to start off the battle. It was always good to start things off slow unless you were in a rush. "Hey Alaska, am I doing this right?" I wasn’t sure what he was talking about here. He didn’t seem like a new Trainer, and Alaska didn’t look like one to be asking advice from. I wondered exactly how these two met.

    Garchomp ran forward, side by side with Crobat. His mouth was filled with flames as he bit down on the Deerling on the right with white flowers on its back. Crobat slammed its white glowing wings onto the left Deerling with green flowers on its back. Both wild Pokémon flew back. The green flowered Deerling rose to its feet first and helped its partner up. Then, he began giving off a white light as it used its body to slam into Crobat, knocking it out of the air. The other Deerling jumped into the air and extended both front hooves which slammed hard into Garchomps chest. The large Dragon Pokémon didn’t seem to affected by the attack, it sort of just brushed it off. This battle was just getting started, so I was going to make myself comfortable while they battled it out.

    Crobat was bashed fiercely by the Double-Edge attack. The Deerling stomped the tall grass and swiftly span at the poisonous bat. The purple beast was tackled through the cold air and then fluttered its wings again. Deerling then dropped to the floor and injured itself. It then slowly breathed and had a glared look at Chris' trusty Pokemon. He then saw Alaska's arm be stretched and pointed at her Deerling she attacked. Crobat fluttered violently through the air and the sun reflected its bright rays off the bat. Its eyes sharply glared at the defenseless deer in front of it.

    "Why not try an Air Cutter?" Chris questioned his Crobat. "Yeah, let's do Air Cutter!" Crobat nodded and flapped its sharp wings even more. This Pokemon was one of Chris' bestes friends and followed every command the young trainer said. Even though this Poison Pokemon was an Adamant one. It would still follow its master's trust. The bat then fluttered its purple wings together and then sharp blades sliced through the warm air towards the Deerling. The deer stood and waited for the Air Cutter attack...

    "Crobat, push harder with those wings," Chris shouted to Crobat. "More Air Cutter!" The bat quickly followed the young trainer's and vibrated move blades of air in the direction of the flowery deer...

    The bubbles floated towards the Bouffalant easily, as if it wasn't even trying to dodge it at all. Once they all popped around the Bouffalant, the yellow mist emerged from within and turned into electrical sparks; immediately paralyzing it.

    Suddenly, the Bouffalant started to roar again and stomped its hooves onto the ground while shaking its horns. It seemed to be showing off somehow, shoving its weight around, but I wasn't quite sure what it was exactly doing. I looked at Snorlax, whom had clenched his fists and gritted his teeth - he was definitely getting angry. I wasn't sure what the Bouffalant had used, but it was definitely annoying and taunted Snorlax to the verge where he might not even listen to my orders.

    Luckily, he still managed to regain his composure and quickly sat on the ground with his eyes closed. He then surrounded himself with a bright white mist. Although it seemed just like a camouflage, the mist would be able to protect Snorlax if Bouffalant decided to attack him. Though, that didn't seemed to be the case. The Bouffalant let out a yawn, and began to lie down to go to sleep. Just before it closed it eyes, it quickly released a soft white cloud, which had obscured it and floated near the Bouffalant. It had used Substitute before it fell asleep.

    I started to wonder if I threw a ball, whether would it hit the Pokemon? From how I imagined it, the Substitute decoy would probably strike it off, but there was also a possibility that the ball would just pass through the decoy and strike Bouffalant. I wasn't about to take the risk however. I just needed Snorlax to destroy the decoy, or at least make it lose its effect temporarily, then throw my ball. Though, I knew that a capture at this time definitely wouldn't be successful - the Bouffalant was much too enraged to be caught now. I needed to calm it down...

    I fumbled through my messenger bag to find the bottle - an item that had the ability to calm Pokemon down to soften the difficulty of a capture. They were relatively expensive, so I only bought two, but this was a good time to use it. After a few seconds, I managed to find it and took it out from my bag. The appearance of the bottle was similar to a can of air freshener, except it's a super miniature version. I held onto the trigger and sprayed it towards the Bouffalant, while a pink cloud of fragrance started to float towards the Pokemon. It was as if the fragrance had already locked onto its target, for it simply knew the direction to float towards, and the decoy couldn't even block it at all.

    Now, I needed to distract the decoy, and perhaps lower the health of the Bouffalant even more. I had originally wanted to lower the temperature of the surroundings by using Icy Wind; that should be able to either shatter the decoy, distract it, or freeze it completely. At least, if I were to tell Snorlax to put a huge force on that Icy Wind, it should then work like some sort of an icy storm. However, the weather was still more sunny than ever, so that strategy might not work so well. What's more, Snorlax was definitely not as healthy as his usual state from Bouffalant's last move. I had a feeling that he might be too confused to execute any move. Thus, I decided to recall it.

    "Snorlax, I don't want you to get hurt while fighting the Bouffalant. It obviously contaminated you. We need to get you sterilized! Return!" I shouted and beamed Snorlax's Heavy Ball towards him. He had nodded sadly, but still returned to his Heavy Ball. I knew that by returning Snorlax to his ball, when I send him out again, the condition might be healed by then. It was as if the ball was a quarantine unit itself. Meanwhile, I had quickly thought of another strategy to withstand the Bouffalant's decoy.

    I took out another ball - this was blue and black on the top, and had a crescent moon on the very top of the ball as well. I threw the Moon Ball towards the ground and once it opened up, the oh-so-common red flash emerged from within and enlarged into a medium-built silhouette. She cried out her signature cry and stood her ground, and faced her back towards me. I had always loved her as much as my other Normal-type Pokemon. She was quirky in a way, but really adorable.

    She had spiky wings on her back, which was a deeper shade of pink when compared to the rest of her body, though the wings seemed to be useless, since they are incapable of flight usually. The only time that I had saw her actually using her wings was when she had used Metronome, and actually used Fly! That was the only time where she had learned, and knew how to use her wings though. She flicked her fingers at her opponent funnily, as if she was already performing Metronome. She had loved to use Metronome always, and even if she wasn't; flicking her fingers was already her habit.

    "Okay Clefable, I want you to use Follow Me on the Bouffalant's decoy. Make it leave Bouffalant and follow you. As it gets closer to you, fire a Flamethrower towards the Bouffalant directly. Be sure to aim just for its horns, I want it alive." I said.

    Although she disliked using her level-up moves, she would still use it if I didn't make her do it so often. Besides, Follow Me was considered as an eccentric move, which was a perfect suit to her nature. Usually in battles, Follow Me was used to force the opponent to target the user with every attacks - something definitely eccentric. However, over here, I had planned for the Follow Me to just distract the decoy away. Decoys are usually incapable of attacking anyway. Even if it managed to attack Clefable somehow, she had the ability to withstand it with her bulk, or I wouldn't be surprised if she had managed to dodge it. During training and battles, she always loved to perform sudden hops and jumps, as if she'd die if she didn't do that.

    I watched on as she took a few steps forward, and starting looking seductively at the decoy. I fought back my struggles to laugh, for it seemed amusing to me. She raised her finger towards the decoy, and started to make a motion to ask for the decoy to follow her and come towards her; drawing full attention to herself. I wasn't sure if it would manage to work or not, but I surely hoped it would. Once the decoy comes forward, Clefable would perform a somersault over the decoy and fire a stream of Flamethrower towards the sleeping Bouffalant.

    I quickly rampaged through my bag to look for another item, before grabbing it and preparing to throw it. I grabbed tightly onto my Park Ball; ready to fling it towards Bouffalant at the same time when Clefable released her Flamethrower, so that the ball would strike and consume Bouffalant in immediately, after the attack.

    OOC: Split off from the Team Run, as requested through VM.

    NBP#1

    "I think a battle would be absolutely..." the trainer began. He stopped mid-sentence, looking - or rather, staring - at the Pansage's head. This caused a rather confused expression to creep over my face. For a second there, I had thought Daniel would want to battle the Grass-type.

    He smiled uneasily before continuing, "...unnecessary and Clucky would probably set the poor thing on fire... LET'S GO." I nodded, shrugging off the trainer's quite weird behavior. I wasn't in any position to try and figure things out - not that I would do that...

    Daniel walked away, both the Blaziken and the Sentret following right as his heel. I turned to Joe, who was still gazing at the legendary Pokemon. I asked him if he was ready to come along, but he shook his head - to my surprise. The team was going to split up as he was going to leave the Botanic Gardens. Something came up, I guess. I nodded in understanding. Fortunately, we weren't that far in to the zone, so I wouldn't have to walk Joe out. The gate was a mere ten-ish feet away from us.

    "Okay then, moving on," I told the other male teen. I walked alongside him, guiding him on a dirt trail. All around us, the area was sprouting with life - and not just from plants and trees, but also from all the wild creatures. I sighed in contentment, this was why I liked the Gardens. I just loved wide, open spaces.

    I kept my eyes open for any entities wandering about near us. There was bound to be an encounter and encounter in this kind of place. We didn't have to wait long for the next Pokemon to approach us.

    I pointed my finger at a deer or fawn-like Pokémon, most resembling a fallow deer. The upper side of its body was colored pink, and was rimmed and dappled with yellow patterns. And the underside of its body being a lighter beige shade. It sported a yellowish-colored, floral tuft on its head, and similar yellow coloration on the ear insides of its tapering ears. The tips of its limbs were colored black,and its pink tail was small.

    I turned to Daniel. His current encounter wasn't a rare one, but it was okay, in my opinion. "How about that Deerling? Want to try and capture it?"

    I sighed in relief as we left the Pansage behind. The last thing I needed was a weird demon-monkey to ruin my team’s chemistry. Joe decided he was going to leave the Botanic Gardens, to my surprise. We continued along the path, taking in the sights and sounds of the garden. It was one of those days I was lucky not to have allergies. I thought this was a good time for a snack. I pulled a granola bar out of my pocket and began to chow down. We hadn’t walked more than a few steps when Elisa stopped and pointed at a small deer-like Pokémon. I instantly recognized it as a Deerling. Memories of my home town started to flood back to me, and I smiled with content.

    “How about that Deerling?” said the ranger, “Want to try and capture it?”

    I did, but how would I go about doing it? Did it want to battle? Did it want to make friends? If I didn't see some action soon, I would lose it. I decided the time for making friends was over, and the time to attack was begining.

    Rather than respond to the ranger, I jumped right into the battle. After all, actions speak louder than words. I stuffed the granola bar into my mouth, and uttered a muffled, “Clucky, use Focus Energy, and then follow up with a Fire Punch!” She seemed to understand me, and began to focus in on her target…

    “You’re about to see a real battle, Sentret!” I exclaimed, “Get ready!”

    OOC: My Deerling is a dude, Bumbles.

    The battle raged on. I watched as if from a distance as Ryuu and Chris's Crobat attacked the pair of Deerling. Chris yelled for his Crobat to use a Wing Attack, which it did. However, both Deerling were still strong enough to battle and mostly just seemed pissed off about everything.

    "Hey Alaska, am I doing this right?" Chris called from across the field.

    "Yeah, you're doing great," I tried to say, but it came out more as, "We should totally go to a ZZ Top concert or something, bro."

    Right about then, my Garchomp got kicked straight in the chest. Those Deerling fought dirty. However, he seemed mostly okay. I decided we could probably risk another attack.

    "Use Aerial Ace, Ryuu!" I slurred, "But try not to impale it or anything."

    He raced forward, arm spikes pointed towards the defenseless Deerling.

    “Hmm, use Lock-on on Tauros," Cameron commanded. "Then use Tri Attack, however, don’t attack it too hard, I don’t want his burn to knock it out. You know exactly how much power to use.”

    Cybershock nodded, and a bright red laser burst out of the air inbetween his red crest and his blue nose. It touched one of the Tauros and dashed all over it, comparing certain points on its physique to an internal database compiled from memories and logical reasonings. The data didn't match up, so the red laser blinked across to the another one of the clones and did the same. As the red dot danced across the bull's legs and chest, Cybershock concluded that it too was fake. The Lock-On moved to the last Tauros, and after quickly performing a second-check scan, the cybernetic Pokemon decided that he had located the real Tauros. The two fake Tauros disappeared with a slight shiver as the real one decided that there was no need to continue expelling energy on a useless tecnhique.

    Red blue and yellow lights began to swirl around in front of his nose, growing larger as he charged the Tri Attack. A light blue orb also grew between the Tauros' horns, and small snowflawkes drifted off of it, dusting the bull's head and neck with white powder. The Tri Attack and Ice Beam launched at the exact same time. The multicoloured beam brushed past the Ice Beam, sending sparks and shards of ice into the air as they grazed against each other. The Ice Beam struck Cybershock, pushing him back in midair, but the Tri Attack had more of an effect on the Tauros. The blast knocked him onto his side, and his four hooves flailed around as he tried to get back onto his feet.

    Cameron pulled out a fragrance bottle and sprayed it in the direction of his intended capture. A cloud of pink mist drifted towards the Tauros, and when it reached him he began to thrash less as the sweet scent calmed him. Cameron then threw a Hyperball at the Tauros. The metal sphere tapped him on his sides and absorbed him in a flash of white light. The capture device tilted from side to side three times before becoming still. A red light blinked as the ball locked down.

    "Congratulations on your Tauros capture," I said to Cameron as I walked over and picked the ball up.

    "Thanks sexy, do you think I could wander on out of here," he asked me.

    I scratched my neck contemplatively. Ranger regulations said that I was supposed to escort all Trainer out of the gate, but I could trust Cameron - he was a regular, after all - and I wanted to get back to Ataro. I nodded, making my decision.

    "Sure," I said, handing him the three balls he had used. I then clapped him on the shoulder and told him to look me up if he wanted to come back into the Park. As Cameron wandered off towards the exit, I contacted Dual through our mindlink and instructed him to teleport me to him - he'd probably be glad of a rest. I was just hoping the rain didn't extend as far as where Ataro was battling.

    Daniel didn't answer right away - or rather, he didn't answer with words, at all. He stepped forward, stuffing a granola bar into his mouth. He munched and crunched on the snack quickly.

    Looking at his Blaziken, he managed to utter a command in a rather muffled voice. "Clucky, use Focus Energy, then follow up with a Fire Punch!"

    He turned to look over his shoulder briefly, exclaiming, "You’re about to see a real battle, Sentret! Get Ready!" I smiled as the Scout Pokemon jumped up and down in distinct excitement. She bounced on her tail, moving to stay beside the trainer as her Fire-Fighting-typed friend began to focus.

    Clucky closed her eyes in deep concentration, the fiery embers on her body blazing with much energy. And when she opened her eyes, there seemed to be a "renewed" light and energy glowing in them.

    Now, it was on to executing the second part of the order. Fire Punch. The Blaziken's whole arm began to burn energetically, her hand curling into a rather tight-looking fist. She gazed at the target, before leaping into the air.

    One moment, she was soaring like she could fly; then the next, gravity was pulling her down. She pulled her fiery arm back, and with an empowered push, swung it forwards - straight towards the Normal-Grass-type. The flaming fist came in contact with the almost oblivious Deerling, who managed to endure the attack to an extent. It was sent staggering backwards, inflicting quite a bit of damage.

    The wild creature stared back at its opponent, and once it had brought itself to stand back up, it growled as it charged up. It began to glow a bright white color as oval-shaped orbs of energy surrounded it. It chanted a low rhythm... The grass around us swayed in time with the wind, nature answering the Season Pokemon's call.

    The oblate spheroids of the wild shot forwards, rapidly transforming into bombs that looked much like seeds - big seeds... The Seed Bomb attack slammed into the Blaze Pokemon. It was a Grass-type attack, but it still dealt some amount of damage.

    The Deerling then opened its eyes, looking to see how hurt the enemy really was. Apparently not yet content with the current situation, it powered itself up for another assault. It opened its muzzle, letting out a long soothing whistle of sorts.

    "Oh dear..." I mumbled. This probably wasn't going too end that well for Clucky... Not unless they could evade sleeping during this bout. But I was quite confident that Daniel would be able to think of something. After all, he was a "Wiseman".

    "Tret.. Sen-tret..." the Normal-type blurted out, seemingly warning the male teen of the incoming move. She might have known what attack this was due to the large amount of Grass-types in the vicinity - GrassWhistle might have been used a lot. We'd find out later on - maybe...

    ---

    Commencing...

    "Why not try an Air Cutter?" Chris asked. He sounded a bit unsure on his request. An attack like that would do a good amount of damage, but not enough to knock out Deerling. I didn’t think Chris wanted to capture one, he was probably just battling it so Alaska could try capturing it without worrying about battling both Deerling even if her Garchomp looked as if it could take them both on. For now though, I just had to assume that was what he was intending to do. "Yeah, let's do Air Cutter!" He said, sounding a bit more sure this time. Crobat didn’t waste any time, it immediately began flapping its wings and creating crescent-shaped gusts of energy which were quickly launched at the Deer Pokémon.

    "Crobat, push harder with those wings," Chris shouted to his parnter. "More Air Cutter!" The bat didn’t hesitate to follow orders, he flapped his wings harder and raised the power of his attack

    "Use Aerial Ace, Ryuu, but try not to impale it or anything." Alaska said, or at least that’s what I thought I heard. I couldn’t quite understand what she was saying. She appeared to be a bit disoriented and her eyes were red, I figured she was using. That made me wonder what she was like when she wasn’t high. Was she just as crazy? Or was it possible that she was crazier?

    Garchomp followed up on Alaskas orders and moved side by side with Crobat in attacking the Deerling. Garchomp was incredibly fast, he struck the Deerling so quickly, the deer didn’t even have time to react. The Deerling with white flowers on his back went flying back into a tree, scaring off some of the Pokémon that were in it. The other Deerling was being barraged continuously by Air Cutter. Both wild Pokémon appeared to be worn out and I didn’t blame them. They didn’t know what they had gotten themselves in to. That however didn’t stop them. They got up and looked at each other. Then, right before our eyes, they disappeared. I knew what they were doing. They saw themselves in a bad situation and decided to alter the light around them to make them appear invisible.

    I heard soft running then a sound behind Garchomp. The large Dragon beast quickly turned and slashed his claws into the air behind him. While he did that, one of the Deerling slammed into his backside. One was distracting him while the other attacked him. It was a pretty smart plan, but I knew it wouldn’t work twice.

    I winced in empathy as Ryuu got double teamed by the two Deerling. As they blended back into the trees, I felt myself becoming paranoid.

    "Oh God, it's like Predator. THEY'RE WATCHING FROM THE TREES, MAN, FROM THE TREES!"

    "Gar, garchomp," Ryuu said, sounding tired.

    "How do we know if they're VC? If they run they're VC. If they stand still, they're well trained VC."

    Ryuu sighed and held out one spike arm thing.

    "You really wanna do this?"

    He nodded. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a piece of string and a Parkball. I tied the string around a small loop on the Parkball's top and tied the other end around Ryuu's arm.

    "Good luck, brave soldier," I saluted him and he rolled his eyes. He began swinging the Pokeball around like a mace and headed straight for our Deerling. I turned to Bumbles. "He's done this before, you see. As soon as he gets close enough, he'll whack the Deerling over the head with it... hopefully." I watched in anticipation as Ryuu got closer.

    Chris watched the Air Cutter attack slice the Deerling. The Deerling fell to floor in pain within the bright, sun rays. Then, suddenly Chris saw it stand up, and double team with its friend. The male Deerling partnered with its brother and they charged at Alaska's Garchomp. It snarled loudly with the doubled attacks. The young trainer felt sorry for the dark, strong dragon as it was pounced. However, Garchomp did not really seem affected as much. The wind blew slowly over Chris' Crobat and it flapped its wings slowly. The poisonous bat awaited for its commands and glared at the double Deerling.

    "God, it's like Predator. THEY'RE WATCHING FROM THE TREES, MAN, FROM THE TREES," Alaska shouted loudly. Chris thought she was insane and had issues. Perhaps he thought putting her into a mental home and running off with her Pokemon might work... Well she does not have any Psychic Pokemon the young trainer wants. Chris thought to himself if Deerling have done this much damage to Garchomp together. Perhaps if they evolve it would do more powerful attacks when they evolve into Sawsbuck. Crobat awaited for its commands slowly and then growled for a moment.

    "Cro..." Crobat growled loudly. Chris then pointed at the Deerling and thought to himself. "It's time to bring that Deerling down a few."

    "Go Crobat, use Bite," Chris shouted. Crobat's purple wings, fluttered quickly and then it launched through the air towards the dear. It sat there awaiting the attack. Crobat's sharp fangs appeared and clanked away in the direction of the Deerling.

    ---

    Commencing...

    "Oh God, it's like Predator. THEY'RE WATCHING FROM THE TREES, MAN, FROM THE TREES!" She yelled out. I suppose in a way it was, it was kind of cool. "How do we know if they're VC? If they run they're VC. If they stand still, they're well trained VC." I had no idea what VC meant, I just figured it meant nothing and she was spewing more nonsense. "Good luck, brave soldier," She said as she tied a string around the Park ball and onto Garchomp’s claw. Garchomp began spinning it around, which seemed like a crazy idea since Deerling were still invisible. Something like Sand Attack would have helped a lot.

    Chris didn’t seem to think Deerling were ready to be captured, and he was kind of right. Until they solved the visibility problem, it was going to be difficult to capture what you can’t see. "It's time to bring that Deerling down a few." He said, I thought that was a good plan, until I heard his move "Go Crobat, use Bite," I wasn’t sure why he sent his Pokémon in blindly, but perhaps Crobat could sense the Deer Pokémon. It must have because it bit down hard on the Deerling’s back and the dual typed Pokémon became visible. The Deerling flinched in pain, it just glared at the Crobat but didn’t make a move. The other Deerling was still invisible so Alaska was either going to have to try that little tactic again or make the Deerling visible.

    ~~~~~
    The world spun and became shaded in blue as Dual began to teleport me away from Cameron and towards Ataro. I gave Cameron a quick wave and he waved back. It was the last thing I saw before my vision became completely unintelligible. I knew from Dual that Ataro's battle with the Bouffalant was still going on, and I wasn't surprised. Snorlax were known for their walling abilities as opposed to their damage output potential (or rather, their lack of one).
    The world began to resolve itself, and I recognised the area where Cameron had left Ataro and I about half an hour ago. A bright flash of red interrupted the complete blue, and I could just make out Ataro returning Snorlax to his PokeBall. The Bouffalant must have performed some kind of status attack in order to force a Pokemon switch. As my eyesight finished restoring itself, I saw Ataro summon his next Pokemon. It was a cream-coloured almost rectangular Pokemon, with small spiky wings and a swirly puff of hair between its two black-tipped ears. It was a Clefairy, a fairly rare Pokemon. They weren't rare because of extreme power or an esoteric evolution method - they just weren't seen as very good in general. However, that raised my respect for him - good Trainers worked with Pokemon they like as opposed to following the trends of pseudo-legendaries and Infernapes.
    "Okay Clefable, I want you to use Follow Me on the Bouffalant's decoy. Make it leave Bouffalant and follow you. As it gets closer to you, fire a Flamethrower towards the Bouffalant directly. Be sure to aim just for its horns, I want it alive," Ataro called out.
    Clefable began to sway her hips as she walked closer to the sleeping Bouffalant. She then crooked her finger suggestively at the Bouffalant. The white sporey cloud surrounding the bull Pokemon jerked, and it began to detach itself from its principal. It maintained the Bouffalant's shape and started to walk towards the alluring Clefable. Clefable mirrored its walking, but her speed slowly began to increase. At the last second, she jumped in between the Substitute's horns, somersaulting over its back. In midair, she put her right pointer finger to her mouth and then removed it as a stream of fire blasted out of her mouth. The red tongue of flame boiled just over the real Bouffalant, who groaned uncomfortably and rolled onto its side. Ataro quickly pulled out a perfume vial and sprayed it towards the bull before throwing a Park Ball over the Substitute. It tapped the sleeping Pokemon and absorbed it in a white flash.
    Dual nudged me through our link and informed me via our packet-burst communication style that he was going into his ball to rest for a little bit, I nodded as he returned himself in a flash of bright light - the Summoning Teleport wasn't easy for him to perform, and he's just done two inside fifteen minutes. I didn't blame him for needing to rest. Besides, he probably wasn't very interested in this battle - a pink puffball versus a sleeping Normal-type wasn't very exciting to the warrior Pokemon, I could tell.
    However, there wasn't going to be a battle. The Park Ball stopped shaking as the capture mechanism locked down and the Bouffalant was captured. I walked over the ball and picked it up, storing it inside my pack.
    "Congratulations on your Bouffalant capture, I'm glad you got what you came for!" I said to Ataro. "Interested in seeing what else we can stumble across?"
    Crobat had pierced onto the invisible Deerling. It was ready to have a bomb thrown at it! Sorry... Park Ball.
    "Good job Crobat," Chris shouted. "As a bat Pokemon you can hear ultrasonic waves. Therefore, your sensing skills were top notch!" Crobat turned around to Chris and fluttered its wings in delight. It loved the encouragements and praise. The young trainer then went to his pocket and grabbed a small sphere. It was a Park Ball. The rays of the sun brightly shone over the trainer as he tossed it through the air. The ball then bounced off the Deerling and dropped to the grass. It rolled for a moment...
    "Am I doing this right Alaska?" Chris asked with a confused look.
