Jack watched as Jay took a picture of the Gallade. The flash startled the Gallade and, ceasing its solo practicing, it ran off towards a few other trees. Jack laughed at the fact that the pokemon were so easily scared by a camera but if you shoot them with a blast of super hot fire they stand still.

“Well then let’s continue on and see what we find.” They moved on until Jack heard a buzzing sound. He looked up to the sky and saw Serenity was returning to him. Jack waived her over and she changed her path to him. Before she was able to get closer however, Jack pulled out her ball and shot the red return beam at her. She disappeared and retreated to the red and white ball.

“Now then, let’s keep going.” Jack finished.

The four of them continued on keeping the trees nearby. They were walking for a little bit and still nothing was found. Then finally there was a sound near one of the trees. Jack didn’t make any attempts to let Jay know he was going to stop. Instead, he just stopped walking, and looked over at the tree. He strained his ears until he heard something again. Finally he saw something. A small bipedal pokemon appeared. It was a dark purple color. Its eyes were eerie, they seemed to be made out of jewels, and its claws seemed deadly.

It looked at the new arrivals with a curious look.

“Well Jay? You want a Sabeleye?”

As we walked on the grass grew more and more wild; not to mention becoming really overgrow. It almost felt like the grass and trees were identical in length. Okay, I lied. I'm just making small talk with myself until we encounter a new Pokemon. Lalalala. I stopped thinking my usual random thoughts when I heard a buzzing sund. Hoping it was a Pokemon, I glanced u eagerly but then I shrugged when I realised that it was just Jack's Yanmega returning to him. He summoned it back into its Pokeball and we continued to walk onwards in silence.

“Now then, let’s keep going.” Jack finished.

"Yeah," I agreed. "I wonder where all the Pokemon are... there are usually hundreds crawling around just about everywhere."

Jack stopped unexpectedly and made a shushing gesture to me. After a few seconds I heard it too- a scraatching, husting-bustling sound coming from the bushes around us. After a moment of silence a purple, bejewled Pokemon walked out of the bushes and stopped seeing us. It looked as though this Pokemon hadn't seen another creature in a very long time.

“Well Jay? You want a Sabeleye?” Jack asked me eagerly. I could tell that he was just as eager for a good battle as I was so I could hardly deny him.

"Sure," I said. "Slewbrah, come on out!" I said and after using one of my Pokeballs to summon my Pokemon. A dopey-looking Slowbro took the stage and let out a big yawn as he scratched his large spiral shell. "Try use your Yawn attack to lul Sableye to sleep and then hit it with a Surf. Pretty please."

Jack watched as Jay threw out his pokeball to reveal the pink dopey looking pokemon. It stood on two legs and had a huge shell on its tail. Its face looked surprisingly empty. Jack couldn’t help but try to hold back a laugh at its face. After the shock of the pokemons look was over, he realized that choosing Slowbro was an interesting choice considering how the dark type that Sableye was negated any of Slowbro’s psychic attacks.

Then Jack got an idea of Jay’s strategy, he started things out with a Yawn attack. The Slowbro opened it mouth as wide as it could revealing its big herbivore teeth. A huge bubble then floated out of its mouth and floated over to the jeweled Sableye. The Sableye stared at the big bubble in curiosity not knowing that the Slowbro had begun a battle with it. When the bubble got close enough it reached out with its hand and popped the bubble with one of its sharp claws. It popped in the Sableye’s face and its whole body began to visibly droop. It seemed like the Yawn had worked. That was when the Sableye figured out what was going on.

Before it could prepare its attack the Slowbro began a second attack. This time it conjured up a huge wave of water. When the water got close enough the Slowbro jumped on top and rode the wave. The torrent of water crashed into the Sableye who could do nothing to stop it. It was knocked on its back then after the attack was completed the water seemed to disappear.

The Sableye was able to get back up, and then it decided to launch two attacks at the Slowbro both in quick succession. The first one was a Power Gem attack. Shiny rocks appeared in front of the Sableye and one by one the Sableye slapped each of them towards the Slowbro. The Slowbro tried its best to avoid them all but its slow reaction time and speed did little to help it and it took most of the hits.

After all the gems had been thrown it then formed a ball in its hand. The only way Jack could describe it was it looked a lot like a big ball of goup and some nasty purple stuff. The ball got bigger until finally the Sableye shot the ball forwards and at the Slowbro. It once again tried its best to avoid the attack, this time by jumping out of the way and landing on its stomach. The Shadow Ball was still able to splash across its shell leaving a nasty purple burn. Jack had to give that Slowbro credit; it knew when to avoid a super effective attack.

“Ouch, that hurt, well it’s gonna fall asleep soon, what do you have planned next?”

The big, soapy bubbles Slowbro fired from his mouth drifted lazily through the air and dispersing over the various plants and shrubbery. One rather large bubble came quite close to Sableye. He was clearly very intrigued by it as he watched it, then he hesitantly raised a claw... then popped it. He let out a hissing sound as the soapy residue sprayed him in the eye and insisted on scratching his eyes till they turned a dark red colour. Sableye grumbled sleepily before he realised that this was a battle.

"Sable... eye!" he shouted as though it was a battle cry of sorts. With a flick of his purple wrists, several red and brown rocks materialised before him. They glowed an odd pinkish and blue colour as they hovered before him. "Eye, eye!" he added and the rocks shot towards Slowbro. They ierced at his skin but he was quite a bulky Pokemon and didn't seem all that bothered by the attack. After watching these events I was rather satisfied. Sableye then stepped forward and closed his eyes. I watched carefully as he began to allow a ball of gloop and various other dark things to form before him. I recognised this attack as a Shadow Ball and I knew it would be Super Effective against my Slowbro.

"Try and dodge this Slowbro. Otherwise it'll do some serious damage!" I shouted to my big dopey pink creature. He didn't respond to me and I could feel myself growing nervous as Sableye fired the attack. The glob shot through the air at a very fast speed and just before it was to hit Slowbro, he skillfully jumped out of the path and used his large spiral shell to take the force of the attack.

"Excellent job, Slowbro. Now, as the Sableye drifts off to sleep hit it with a hard Fire Blast and then an Ice Beam. We want to get it as wweak as we can right now!"

There was something about this Sabeleye that I really liked. I wasn't sure if it was the twinkle in his eye or the way he continued to fight a losing battle. He was an extremely rare Pokemon too, and with good reason. Years ago though were hunted for the rare diamonds that could only be found in Sableye. I WANTED THOSE DIAMONDS.

Jack watched on as Jay commanded his Slowbro to use Fire Blast and Ice Beam, he was impressed by the idea of using the extremely hot attack followed by an extremely cold attack.

Jack watched as first Slowbro opened his mouth, a small flame appeared in front and quickly grew in size, once it grew to a certain point it then grew outwards in five prongs. The Slowbro then launched the attack forwards towards the Sableye. The poor pokemon was still very drowsy and when it tried to move out of the way it ended up tripping forwards and into the blast taking it head on. The flames licked the Sableye as it lay on the ground. Then the Slowbro followed up the blast by keeping its mouth open. This time, instead of giving the attack time to form like the Fire Blast, a beam of cold blue shot outwards towards the downed Sableye. The attack hit and a cold steam could be seen coming off where the attack hit.

The Sableye was slow to get up but once it did it just disappeared into nothing. Jack knew it was a Feint Attack and he looked around for where the Sableye would strike. Then he saw it appear behind the Slowbro. Jack was surprised to see that it didn’t attack; it ceased its Feint Attack. Jack was curious why but then he understood. He reared back his claw and right next to it appeared a purple transparent claw; a shadow claw. It jumped at its back and slammed the attack into it. When appeared in front of the Slowbro instead of turning around it fell to the ground.

Jack let out an amused laugh

“Well that was anticlimactic; it looks like that Yawn attack finally took effect.

The Sableye was out like a light, Jack wondered how long it was going to be out for though.

Slowbro was preparing the Fire Blast attack, but I knew it would take a little while because it was a powerful attack that required a lot of energy, especially for a Water type. Slowly, he opened his mouth and locked his eyes, staring pointedly at the opposing Sabeleye. Sableye stared back, albeit a little drearily as the sleep was getting ready to take over itself. Sableye seemed to sway back an forth a little bit and I knew this was the right time for Slowbro to begin his two attacks. Slowbro rose to his feet and began to take a bit of a running start, except it was a really slow run. After he had built up some momentum, he came skidding to a halt over the sand, kicking up some dust and gravel in the mean time. His mouth shot open and a small jet of flames shot out, more to impress the opponent than anything else. The flames intensified and grew huge before him as they started to divide into five prongs. The Sableye looked really startled as it watched the huge flames.

"Now!" I said when I felt that the time was right for Slwobro to strike.

Slowbro sent the blast of intense flames shooting towards Sabeleye. Sableye tried to avoid the attack but he simply couldn't thanks to his weariness. Sableye seemed frozen to the spot as the flames licked at his short fur and burned him. I almost felt sorry for the poor Sableye as he was powerless to resist the attack and ha become another one of Slowbro's prey. By the time Sableye seemed like it had finally accepted the attack and it was starting to fade away the flames, a powerful beam of ice came flying at him, freezing the poor humanoid-like Pokemon and smacking into him with larger chunks of ice. Sableye was drenched by the melting ice and I could see the dual Dark and Ghost type Pokemon shivering and I could hear his teeth chattering all the way from over here.

"Excellent job, 'bro!" I congratulated my large dope. He smiled back at me but when I looked at Sableye, I saw it flickering in and out of focus before disappearing. Uh, oh. This means he was doing a Faint Attack and could pop up just about anywhere and smack into my Slowbro. "Watch out for the Faint Attack," I called. "It could be powerful as he is probably quite enraged and wanting revenge." After a few seconds Sableye appeared and shot at Slowbro, eyes sliding shut as he ran and a right claw outstretched, glowing a bright White colour. Just as he was about to strike he tripped over his own feet and collapsed onto the ground, sound asleep.

"Well, that was anti-climatic," Jack said after laughing a little.

"Yeah, very. Slowbro, this is where we want him, try and hold him in place with a Grass Knot attack and then smack him around with one more Surf."

Jack watched as the little Sableye slept on even after Jay called out the Grass Knot attack. Jack wondered how long the Sableye was going to sleep on for. It however did continue to sleep on through the Grass Knot attack. The Slowbro commanded the earth and it complied. Grass seemed to burst out of the ground and wrap around the sleeping Sableye. Jack couldn’t help but feel sorry for the defenseless Sableye.

Then Jack watched as Jay commanded Slowbro to use another Surf attack. However before the move was executed the Sableye did something weird. It ripped itself out of the grass and faced the Slowbro.

“Well that didn’t take long too…” Jack noticed its eyes were still closed. With its eyes closed it unleashed a bright flash and in an instant the Slowbro was hit by an attack. As soon as it was over it fell back down to the earth in a thump. Jack looked over at the Slowbro to see that it was looking a little dizzy.

“Not so lucky dude… Confuse Ray…” Then instead of using Surf it tripped over itself and smacked its face into the ground. Jack facepalmed and looked over at Jay.
    “what you gonna do now?”

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ST and Anna

    ---

It was a lazy afternoon at the Main Outpost. Ivy was staying busy enough organizing and finishing up paperwork about one of her last runs, but there really wasn't a ton of things to do. She had already double checked all her supplies, from charging her phone and making sure her rope didn't have any tears in it, to refilling her emergency potions and Pokédolls. She even cleaned her long vest.

There weren't even that many people around the office. Leo was on vacation to some warm place on the beach. He made sure to tell them about all the hotties in swimsuits he'd be seeing before he went, and it just made her roll her eyes. Jack was off moving his family between countries, Argent and Elisa had some studies they were finishing up, and some others like Jay and Siless were on a bit of a break.

She thought Chainy was around somewhere, and Buzz was out on a run. So, without anything to do and anyone to talk to, she just sat around the office. Her next project was probably cleaning.

Haji, her Espeon, was curled up in the corner on the cushion bed she brought in for him. He watched her sometimes, but she knew he was mostly sleeping, as he could always check up on her through the mental link they shared. That was his spot when he couldn't commandeer her rolling chair. She was at it at the moment though, so he was out of luck.

She resorted to sifting through the files on the computer. Usually the secretaries did, as they took care of most of the general paperwork, but since she had nothing left to really do, she figured why not. She was looking through previous sign-ups and Trainer information when one of them caught her eye.

“Huh, what's this?” she said more to herself than anyone else.

A request for two Trainers to go on a Team Run to Meteor Valley was sitting on the list, unclaimed. She checked the dates, and it looked like it had been sitting there for over a week. Usually other Rangers were all over Team Runs because they paid a bit better than regular ones. Plus it was more fun to go through with more people. Everyone must be really busy if this one stayed untouched.

“Well, no use making them wait even longer.” She selected the request and hit the claim button, putting her e-signature on it and scheduling it for a little later in the day, since it said they were ready to go whenever something opened. The notice would be sent out right away, but she'd have a little bit of time to prepare because of travel.

“Okay, Haji, ready to get to work?”

The purple cat got up slowly and took his time stretching, reaching out with his front paws until the kinks were out. Then he came over and sat next to her legs, waiting for her. She nodded, getting up and retrieving the red vest off the back of her chair and sliding it on over her black turtleneck. She brushed her red hair out of the back of it and looked around the room one last time before telling Haji she was ready.

He drew energy toward him like a vacuum, and then the air around them shimmered as they warped out of the office. They reappeared on the dusty road to Outpost Eight at the start of the valley, and she stood still as the world came back into focus. A light breeze kicked up a little dust. At least it wasn't horribly hot today.

She made it to the Outpost and took her usual seat on the bench next to the entrance, waiting for her Trainers. Haji jumped up next to her to do the same.

So much for the week of rain and possible thunderstorms, he thought to himself quietly against the background hum. In fact it hadn't rained at all to start the week off and today was proving to be no different. It was hot and bright, much too bright. This problem - much to his chagrin was only magnified by the glass panes surrounding him as he sat alone in a cable car slowing descending into Meteor Valley.

He was about to partake in his first ever park run. It hadn't been longer than a few years since the tourist attraction had opened up, allowing anybody with the money to spend a chance to tour through the massive Pokemon park with the promise of catching rare and elusive Pokemon. Still despite all the park had promised, he hadn't quite worked up the motivation to go and make the trip and experience the place for himself. For him, it wasn't the rare Pokemon that drew him in, no in point of fact he was a world class trainer already and a long standing member of the prestigious Elite Four, a group of trainers that were regarding as the top trainer force in the world. No, this for him would be a day of R & R, a chance to unwind and observe.

Of course he couldn't quite count on how the day was going to go, it was because of another that he was finally making this venture, and he wasn't sure what she wished to accomplish on this trip. No doubt she would lead both him and their unwary guide into trouble at some point, he just hoped for moderation.

He stood as the cable car finally came to a stop at a small station on the valley floor. The door slid open and he stepped out into the blazing sun and brightness. The station was nothing more than a cement platform next to a dusty, ill traveled road. Probably part of the 'mystique' he mused to himself. All around him trees rose up towards the sky, and the very air seemed to vibe with energy. Meteor Valley was supposed to be the part of the reservation where Psychic types roamed, and as he stood here in all its splendor he found it wasn't hard to believe.

Finally his eyes came to rest on a small building - an outpost on the other side of the road, next to it was a plain looking a bench, a women in uniform sitting patiently on it.

If he had to guess it had to be the guide that would be, leading him on the expedition, but where was Anna? He thought to himself. He was making this trip mainly for her and yet here was and she was nowhere to be seen.

As he approached the uniformed lady he noticed an Espeon lying on the bench next her, its soft fur rising and falling softly in the sunlight, while the jewel settled on its forehead cast a faint glow on the ground.

"Hello," he greeted her offering his hand for a shake.

"I pray you here as my guide," he laughed, "the name is Изайя"

OOC: Just refer to my character as Isaiah, as that is the direct translation.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

“Don't you think it's a little too early for a winter wardrobe?” Ivy asked Haji, her Espeon.

The Ranger was standing near her open door, gazing down the hall to the front corner and the gaggle of secretaries there. Quite a few of them were bundled up more heavily than usual, donning pants or leggings under their skirts instead of the short shorts they had wore all summer. Some of the boys would be disappointed at that, she bet. Haji's amusement came drifting through their mental link as she shook her head. She could only smile.

The purple cat was sitting on her rolling chair, one of his favorite perching spots. He was watching as she gathered her materials, preparing to go on another run. The paperwork she was finishing would have to wait, which was just fine with her. It seemed the world ran on it, but filling out forms all the time was boring. She may ping the others to do theirs, but truth was that she delayed her own as long as possible too.

Ivy came over to the chair and removed her canvas vest from the back of the chair, taking the back and spinning Haji around in several circles as she did. She slid the angle-long vest over her shoulders and brushed her red hair out of the hood as she situated it, and Haji slowed down his circular motion with his psychic energy.

“If you like, I can spin you in circles,” he said directly to her mind, and she laughed as she shook her head. There were happy feelings coming from him, though, so she knew he wasn't mad.

She filled up her vest pockets with her emergency items and filled the spaces of her cargos with Pokédolls. She felt significantly weighed down as she finished, and she thought that maybe she couldn't throw stones at the secretaries with her turtleneck and long vest. Then again, she wore this ensemble in the summer too.

“Ready to go?” she asked her partner as she walked back over to the chair. A run had come in to take two Trainers on a team run through Meteor Valley, and she wasn't going to let them sit there. She'd much rather be outside than sitting in the stuffy office all day doing paperwork.

The purple cat nodded, and instantly the air started to shimmer. The teleporting sent tingles down her skin, but it stopped almost as soon as it started. The chillier air of the Valley greeted them, and Ivy breathed a sigh of relief at the slightly cooler temperature.

Some areas of the Park weren't affected by the seasons at all, but a few of them shifted slightly in temperature by a few degrees. It wasn't anything extreme, though, as that would affect the Pokémon living in each area too much. Ivy liked fall, so she definitely wasn't going to complain about going to the Valley. The air was crisper, and it made it easier to breathe. She personally thought it was better for the battling Pokémon too, since the summer sun wasn't going to overheat them even more.

They found the familiar bench perched along the side of the wall to the Outpost, and Ivy sat down to wait. Haji jumped up next to her, like usual, and he settled down with his head on her lap. Then they waited, Ivy idling scratching the Espeon's ears and Haji calmly reaching out with his senses. Hopefully their Trainers would be there soon.

Two years... It took two years to finally convince Kitsu to come to the National Park. Kitsu and I had been friends for a long time now, and I had always told her how much I’d like the Park. She didn’t seem that interested at first; she didn’t want to come until she had gotten what she dubs “actual useful Pokemon.” It also took some convincing to let her older sister take care of her Skitty while she was gone. Her Skitty was a handfull, indeed. But now Kitsu and I were at the famous National Park. I had visited on my own many times before, but I had always wondered how a Team Expedition would work out.

Kitsu and I arrived via boat to the docks; however, as I knew, it was like a ghost town there. Since I had heard that the Valley might be a little cooler this time of the year, I donned an orange hoodie with the Silph Co. logo emblazoned on the back, another item from Father’s work. I also had my jeans and white beret, but I didn’t think that it would get colder than that.

If needed, I could always ask Kitsu’s Vulpix to heat me up. Just like my Lopunny, Punpun, Kitsu let her small six-tailed red fox walk around. It was always nice, as Punpun and Vulpix were our starters.

As we walked farther towards the Ranger Outpost, Kitsu let her ponytail down, allowing her purple hair to flow over hoodie, which had Shinx displayed on it. Something about cute and tough Pokemon attract Kitsu, which explains her Pokemon choices. In fact, I remember when she accidentally caught a Caterpie and demanded to trade it to me. I didn’t mind a Pokemon like Butterfree on my team, so I decided to trade her a Dratini that I had one in a local contest. While, Dragonite might be a powerful Pokemon, I think that Kitsu would’ve like Dratini or Dragonair better.

We eventually found the Ranger Outpost, and saw a girl in turtleneck and long vest (she was prepared for the change of season) and an Espeon on her lap. This must have been our Ranger.

Kitsu squealed, no doubt after seeing the purple Eeveelution.

“Hello, my name is Jesse,” I said extending my hand.

Kitsu greeted her as well and introduced her Vulpix.

“Yes, and you can call this guy Punpun,” I added pointing towards my Lopunny, who bowed, allowing his floppy light lavender fluffed ears hang down. My Lopunny was a shiny Pokemon, which means that his coloring was slightly different. I had a few shiny Pokemon on my team that I was proud to command.

Before we left, I made sure to prepare my PokePlayer and Zorua Disc. We were on a definite mission to find the little blackish-purple fox for Kitsu, as she loved the idea of owning one, and it was the biggest factor that finally convinced her to come. I didn’t mind the idea of catching one myself, but if I had come across its evolved form, Zoroark, I’d try to catch that, despite Kitsu’s claim that it was ugly.

I pulled out the voice player and one of the three discs that I had bought from my black and yellow backpack, which was shaped like a Mawile, and then zipped up the toothed black pouch.

“I’d like to use my PokePlayer to help find a Zorua once we enter the Valley, if that’s alright,” I said to our ranger.

“A Zorua disc?” Kitsu gasped. She didn’t have enough money for her own discs at the time, so I stocked up on three. However, after a while she was able to afford her own discs, but since I already had some, she decided to buy ones for different Pokemon.

“Yes, you can catch the first one we see, Kitsu,” I assured her.

She glomped me in excitement saying “Oh my Arceus, I think I love you.” and squishing her Vulpix in between us. “I’m sorry, Vulpix!” she exclaimed, jumping back and giving Vulpix room to breathe. She turned to the ranger, watching our little interaction. “Okay then, let’s go!

So this was the park. That mysterious place where you paid rangers ridiculous fees for the chance to catch the pokemon of your dreams. I had put off coming here for the past few years hoping that I might run into a Zorua on pure chance, but it seemed like that wasn’t about to happen.

Soro was standing beside me in his blindingly orange sweatshirt. He was the reason I was here. He claimed that it would be much easier for me to find that cute little ball of illusioning fox if I actively searched for it. Ridiculous, right?

I shivered a bit in my sweatshirt and let my purple hair down to protect my neck from the fall chill. Vulpix, my starter pokemon and best friend, had been cuddling on my lap on the boat ride here, and the sudden absence of the fire fox’s heat made it seem that much colder in the park.

Vulpix must have sensed my shiver because she disengaged her curious sniffing of Jesse’s oddly femininely colored Lopunny to jump into my arms for some more snuggling. I gratefully buried my hands into the fluffy orange fur of her six curled tails as she rested her chin on my shoulder.

My brightly colored satchel bumped my right side every time I took a step. The four protrusions reminded me of the other pokemon I had decided to bring. Vulpix was a given, but the others weren’t so easy to choose. I had considered bringing my Skitty to the park, but upon seeing the list of intimidating dark and ghost type pokemon that haunted the valley, I realized it was much better to leave the mischievous little kitten with my sister Ari instead.

Jesse had traded me the Dragonair that I carried now back when I had the most traumatizing experience of accidentally catching a disgusting little bug pokemon. It was just a little Dratini when I first acquired it, so I thought that he’d like to see the gorgeous Dragonair it had grown into. Although Dragonite, its final evolution, was an immensely powerful pokemon, I didn’t think I could give up the way my pokemon looked at me with his winged head on an adorable skew.

We finally got to the outpost. I recognized the purple catlike pokemon waiting by the outpost as an Espeon.

“It’s a kitty!” I squealed in delight, looking toward my human companion.

He seemed to be much more interested in its trainer, though. He approached the turtleneck-clad girl and introduced himself.

I looked up from the Espeon’s charming face to see our ranger looking expectantly toward me and hurried to introduce myself as well.

“I’m Kitsu, and this is my Vulpix, Vulpix!” I said, spinning around so my pokemon could get a look at the girl who would be leading us through the park too.

Jesse introduced his Lopunny as well. He liked to give his pokemon nicknames, something that I always found unnecessary and confusing.

He then unzipped his immensely impractical Mawile backpack to pull out his PokePlayer and a disc.

“I’d like to use my PokePlayer to help find a Zorua once we enter the Valley, if that’s alright,” he said.

“A Zorua disc?” I gasped. My eyes widened in a silent plea to let me catch the black and red fox pokemon if we were lucky enough to encounter one.

“Yes, you can catch the first one we see, Kitsu,” he replied.

“Oh my Arceus, I think I love you.” I rushed over to glomp my friend, inadvertently sandwiching my fox pokemon between us.

I jumped back when she squeaked. “I’m sorry, Vulpix!” I scratched her behind the orange tuft on her head, the way she liked it until she licked my ear to let me know that all was forgiven.

“Okay then, let’s go!” I said, turning to our ranger.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

“Hi there,” she said as the two Trainers stepped up. She shook Jesse's hand as he introduced himself and his Lopunny, Punpun. She greeted Kitsu and her Vulpix too, after the girl stopped staring intently at Haji.

She sensed his signals through her bond with him and laughed to herself quietly. It felt about equivalent to someone paling. She remembered a run they had previously where an over-eager Trainer had tugged at him, thinking he was so adorable. He hadn't acted out then, just like she knew he wouldn't do now since he was so calm natured. Ivy could already tell that Kitsu loved cute things though, if the Pokémon designs on her clothes and the Vulpix she carried in her arms were any indicators.

Jesse stopped to get his Poképlayer out of his backpack, sifting through the contents of the Mawile-shaped bag. It sort of went with his orange shirt, although that made his white hair stick out under his beret. He pulled out a disk too, telling them it was for Zorua.

Kitsu's eyes went wide behind her black-framed glasses, and the ponytail in her purple hair bounced as she expressed her excitement at the promise that she could catch the first one they saw. Ivy just smiled. It was good to see some energy in this place. A lot of her fellow Rangers liked to lounge around on their off-time.

They both wanted to go, so Ivy let the disk play for a few minutes before leading them onward, hoping that the voice would attract one of its kind to them. She liked to see her Trainers happy, and one of the first steps toward that was finding what they had in mind to capture. Jesse looked prepared though, so if the first disk failed, he probably had a backup plan.

She waved the group onward as Haji started down the trail ahead of her. She felt his energy waving through the air as they went, and since she was connected with him, she felt it too. It was nice to sense the living things, since even the ground and the rocks had a little bit of life to them. She didn't feel any Pokémon yet, but they were sure to come. They always did.

The path dipped into the slope that let down into the Valley, and Ivy warned them to watch their step. It was mostly gravel up top, but the sand and stones slid into grasses that thickened as they went down. Haji went first, sliding much easier than the people due to his light weight. Then Ivy followed, doing a slower jog to agree with the momentum but not full-scale running so she didn't flip and fall on her face.

The dust floated up around them as they all made it to the bottom of the hill, and Ivy waved it away from her face with a light cough. Fall meant it was getting dryer as the ground started to freeze and harden a little more every day. They hadn't got the rain yet.

She looked around, finding the familiar tree standing in the middle of the open space. The tall grasses lied beyond, to the south, and the sides were lined with tall trees that blocked the way to the caves. There was some sand over there, and the tunnels were always fun to explore if they didn't mind a little darkness. The pond was on the other side of the grasses too, so that was another route option.

She was about to ask them which way they wanted to go when some waving branches caught her eye. A couple of Pokémon were over by the tree. Haji's ears perked as he noticed the two, reaching out with his senses to greet them.

The two were Psychic-types. One of them was a bipedal Pokémon with a longer trunk-type nose. It was colored yellow on top and a dark brown shade on the bottom, looking like it was wearing pants. It had its arms up in the air, using its psychic energy to manipulate a few sticks, leaves, and rocks for its companion. The foliage slowly lowered to the ground as the Drowzee turned to eye Jesse up and down, and then the smaller Pokémon beside it noticed the company too.

It was a cute humanoid Pokémon, wearing a sort of black and white outfit with a lot of white bows. It had wide blue eyes set into a purple face, and it was staring at Kitsune with a fixated look. Ivy recognized it as a Gothita, a creature that loved to stare at things. It happily called out, its eyes closing in a happy girl and its red lips forming into a smile.

“Well, these two look interested. Jesse, Kit, you guys want a Drowzee or Gothita?”

Sometimes asking was silly, especially if it was something she knew a Trainer wanted, but since it was mostly procedure, she stuck to the rules. These two Pokémon were fairly rare, and they would make an excellent addition to any team. She wasn't sure how much either of them battled, but at least Gothita was cute. Maybe Kitsune would like one?

@scarletkitsune OOC: If the escape roll fails, use up one of my Pokedolls

    IC:

We listened to the cry of Zorua, which sounded like a cute fox barking. After a while, our ranger, Ivy, led us towards the path to the Valley. I guessed that the Disc didn’t work this time, but no fear, it was still early.

The path started to go downhill, turning from various brown-colored gravel into sand, stone and grass. Ivy warned us about the hill as her Espeon slid down it, followed by Ivy who jogged down. I let Punpun hop down, his effeminate legs giving him and easy time down the hill. I turned to Kitsu and held out and open palm.

“I’ll catch you, so don’t worry,” I said as we clasped our hands together.

We carefully nudged our way down the hill, stopping a few times just to make sure we got the proper footing. We plopped on the dirty dry ground, which flattened out. The Valley was beautiful. I hadn’t thought that a place with Dark- and Ghost-types would be covered with trees and tall grass. There seemed to even be a large pond off in the distance. I couldn’t tell where a could place to start looking for a Zorua would be, but hopefully one of the three discs I’d brought would help.

Suddenly, Ivy’s Espeon started gesturing towards some trees. There stood two Psychic-type Pokemon. One looked like a bipedal ant-eater that was colored yellow and brown, while the other was a shorter black and white Pokemon that resembled a small girl with white bows in her hair. The Drowzee seemed to be eyes me over, while the Gothita was smiling at Kitsu.

“Well, these two look interested. Jesse, Kit, you guys want a Drowsee of Gothita?”

I turned to Kitsu, who was pouting. Even though most people thought Gothita were cute, I don’t think that its charm was enough to impress Kitsu. I thought about battling Drowsee, but I figured that it might just be better to wait until we see two Pokemon we both might like. I guess that Drowsee wasn’t really worth it to let Kitsu just stay in the sidelines.

“Well, this one’s kind of cute,” Kitsu said. “Maybe I’ll battle it.” She took another minute to think about it, but it seemed like the little Pokemon’s gaze was starting to creep her out. “On second thought...maybe not. This Gothita’s just a bit too fixated for my comfort.”

“I’m alright. I guess we’re going,” I told the park ranger.

Now that that was settled, we went on, but just in case the two Psychic Pokemon didn’t let us leave that easily, I was prepared to use on of my many Pokemon Dolls. I also made sure to let Ivy know that I wanted to keep the disc going on for the next encounter, employing another one of this disc’s uses.

I watched in anticipation as Jesse popped the Zorua disk into his PokePlayer and bit back another squeal as I heard the cute barking of the fox pokemon through the cheap plastic speakers.

The Espeon led us down a steep, rocky hill with ease, followed by his trainer. I think Ivy was her name. Punpun hopped down without a problem as well, no doubt due to his leggy physique. Then it was our turn.

Jesse held open his hand toward me, saying, “I’ll catch you, so don’t worry.”

“You alright walking down this hill on your own, Vulpix?” I turned toward the pokemon on my shoulder, immediately regretting it as I got a facefull of her orange tail fur.

    “Vulpix,” she affirmed.

I turned back to my friend, taking his hand as we began our not-so-graceful descent down the hill. My pokemon stayed close by my ankles, looking half worried and half amused at my clumsy downhill walk.

Jesse seemed much more capable. He had definitely come prepared for this rough terrain with his brown, well-soled sneakers. If he hadn’t been supporting my weight the whole time, the journey down the slope might have been much less enjoyable.

As my feet finally reached the flat ground that marked the end of the hill, I heard a rustling of branches and leaves and turned to see two pokemon sitting beneath a tree. One of them looked vaguely like an anteater turned ballerina. It was yellow except for a large patch of brown which went from his waist to his feet, stopping before it reached his toes like a pair of footie tights. Its undulating arms were raised above its head as it used its psychic powers to twirl forest debris for his companion.

They both looked up at us as we approached, the Drowzee glancing at Jesse while the second pokemon, a doll-like psychic type, stared at me with interest.

I smiled back at her. Her disproportionately large head was adorned with cute white bows and her bright cherry red lips were curved upward in a smile.

“Well, this one’s kind of cute,” I said to Jesse. “Maybe I’ll battle it.”

I turned back to the pokemon, whose eyes were still fixated on me. The blueness of her large irises was unrelenting. I blinked repeatedly and turned away to break the unwelcome eye contact, but even as I did so I could sense the eyes on my back.

“On second thought...maybe not. This Gothita’s just a bit too fixated for my comfort.”

“I’m alright. I guess we’re going” Jesse said to Espeon’s trainer.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

The staring that Gothita did creeped Kitsune out too much for her to want it, which was too bad. Both of these ones were a bit rare. Luckily the littlest Psychic-type wasn't hurt. Sometimes little Pokémon like that really got upset at rejection and started to cry. Ivy had seen Smoochum up on Oktori do this multiple times, usually needing a Pokédoll to be calmed.

It didn't look like this encounter would end that way through, as the Gothita turned back to the fallen debris on the ground. It looked at the sticks with its big, blue eyes and pointed, making a noise that the Drowzee heard. It seemed to understand what its little companion wanted though, and with a wave of both of its arms, the bits of leaves and rocks rose up to dance in the air again. Gothita cheered and clapped its hands, and Ivy smiled as she took the group on.

She hadn't had a chance to really ask them where they wanted to head yet, so she just chose to edge the long grasses for a bit until she found a good place to stop. She held out a hand as they walked, and the dry weeds made a rustling noise as her skin brushed through them. She'd have to be wary if they traveled through it. It was likely to go up in flames at the tiniest spark, and she didn't want anything to happen to the environment or the Pokémon that lived there.

Ivy stopped at the tree line, turning to look at her charges as Haji took a seat next to her. There was a thin path that went in between the grassy plain and the trees if they wanted to head toward the pond, and from here it would be easy to either go into the grass or the trees.

“Okay, you two,” she said. “Where would you like to go? We might as well not sit around and wait for that disk to work, so what do you wanna see? The grasses are tall this time of year, but there's usually something hiding in them.” She gestured with a hand. “We can head to the pond on the south end or to the caves over here through the trees too. I'll leave the choice up to you.”

Before they could answer her, Haji brushed against her mind, alerting her of another presence. She turned to look over her shoulder in the direction the Espeon was facing, and she kept her eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary. The problem was that the thick branches made the cover dark, so it was hard to see.

Then, two white eyes appeared on one of the trees. The Ranger watched as they both blinked slowly and then began to drift apart. She was puzzled as she tried to figure out what type of Pokémon that could be, but then the two eyes popped off the tree altogether. Two dark-colored letters floated over their heads in the shape of the letters J and K. They hovered together, like they were spelling out that they were kidding about the tree illusion.

Ivy shook her head and laughed a bit, turning back to Jesse and Kitsune. “Do you guys want to battle a pair of Unown?”

As we departed from Gothita and Drowsee’s gaze, I turned to see them playing with each other. Drowzee was manipulating some more of the dirt and leaves around it, while the black and white doll-like Pokemon clapped. It was like Drowzee was babysitting the little one. Regardless, it was obvious that they were not too concerned that Kitsu and I were moving on.

Ivy led us on a path next to some tall grass. Surely there would be some Pokemon hiding in there. She brushed her hand through it, and I saw it start to snap at the gentlest of touch. The weeds were dry and brittle, which was unfortunate for Kitsu’s Vulpix, but as long as we stayed clear of it, we should be fine. Most of our combos involved a little bit a of heat, so hopefully we won’t damage the Park.

Our ranger stopped when we hit a line of trees. “Okay, you two. Where would you like to go? We might as well not sit around and wait for that disk to work, so what do you wanna see? The grasses are tall this time of year, but there's usually something hiding in them. We can head to the pond on the south end or to the caves over here through the trees too. I'll leave the choice up to you.”

The Valley had many options, but I didn’t know which would be the best to find a Zorua for Kitsu. I knew that she also wanted a Gastly or a Haunter; her idea of cute always seemed to astound me. The caves seemed better for that. However, if we wanted to find a Psychic-type, they might be more inclined to be in the tall grass of the lake washing off. Before Kitsu and I could discuss anything out loud, Ivy’s Espeon perked up and faced towards the thick trees.

I couldn’t see anything, but then two bulbous white eyes appeared. At first I thought it might be a Sudowoodo or a Snover, two tree-like Pokemon, but I didn’t think either of them would appear in the valley, especially Snover who liked the cold. The eyes started to float away from each other and then pop out of the thicket. Surrounding the white eyes were a circle of black skin, each a separate entity. The one to my left was shaped like a “J” while the one to my right, closer to Kitsu, was shaped like a “K.” It seemed rather coincidental that two Unown spelled out our initials would appear before us.

“Do you guys want to battle a pair of Unown?”

I turned to help Kitsu up after she fell in surprise of the two Psychic Pokemon and said, “I hope you don’t mind, but I’d like to take a crack at one.”

Unown weren’t the most powerful Pokemon, but they were rather unique, and I loved unique Pokemon.

“Sure,” Kitsu agreed. “They seem pretty fun. I think I’d like one too.”

We backed up a few paces just to give us a little more room to battle. Kitsu decided against using her Vulpix this close to the dry brush. Instead she pulled her Dragonair’s Pokeball. The long, blue, snake-like dragon appeared floating above the trail in front of us. Dragonair had a wings on the side of his head like ears and a white horn. He had three blue orbs, one underneath his jaw and two on his tail.

Dragonair cuddled up against Kitsu when he came out of his Pokeball.

    “Punpun, you’re up.”

Lopunny took a bit of a stretch just to loosen himself up and then crunched down into a fighting position. His floppy, light-lavender-tipped ears fell back behind him.

I nodded at Kitsu, signifying that we’d use the same opening move.

“Use Thunder Wave!” we cried out at the same time.

Lopunny focused, pulling his hands together. He concentrated his energy into a small crackling ball of electricity. The power surged and and Lopunny pushed the orb of Thunder Wave through the air aiming for the Unown shaped like a “J.” Hopefully by focusing his energy into one attack, the move would have more potency and better aim. The orb would crash into the J Unown and burst into a cage of electricity, slowing down its muscles and therefore its speed.

Kitsu’s Dragonair summoned his Thunder Wave differently; instead of calling the electricity from within, he manipulated the electricity already around. He waved his tail in the air, the orbs glowing blue and calling forth the traces amounts of electricity in the air. The electricity collected and crackled along Dragonair’s body up to his horn. He then released the energy towards the K-shaped Unown.

I breathed an audible sigh of relief as the purple baby doll pokemon turned back to her companion, who continued his show of manipulating leaves and dirt. For once, I was glad that I was apparently less interesting than compost ingredients.

The Espeon, Haji, and his trainer led us forward. Ivy walked by some tall weeds, brushing the brittle stems with her fingertips as she passed. it must be pretty dry around here if even the weeds were having a hard time finding water to soak up.

I glanced toward my fire pokemon who was trotting alongside me, occasionally pausing to breathe in a particularly interesting whiff of whatever was floating around the park. I knew that I didn’t need to worry about stray sparks from her though. As devastating as her blazing conflagrations were in battle, she had the sense to not randomly shoot off embers into a patch of dry tinder.

Ivy stopped in front of a thin path that led toward what looked like a pond in the distance.

So many choices...there might be some cute water pokemon by the pond, but the caves sound like the perfect home for ghost pokemon. I’d love to have a Haunter...I’m not even sure why they’re so cute. Maybe something about their severed hands or devilishly toothy grins. Nah, can’t be. Maybe ‘cause they’re purple. I like purple. Makes sense that I’d like Haunter too then, right?

My inner soliloquy was cut short as our ranger’s psychic kitty warned us of the presence of two more pokemon.

Everyone else was staring intently at the trees so I decided to do the same, although I couldn’t see anything interesting in all those shadows. Then, as two bright white eyes appeared out of the darkness, I squeaked and stumbled backwards.

The two eyes turned out to be from different pokemon as they drifted into view. Although they were both rimmed with , one of the pokemon resembled the letter J, while the other sported the clean lines of a K.

“Do you guys want to battle a pair of Unown?” Ivy asked.

Jesse turned to help me up. “I hope you don’t mind, but I’d like to take a crack at one.”

“Sure,” I answered, taking another look at the unusual pokemon before us. They hovered next to each other, spelling out “jk”, as in “just kidding about our creepy entrance, no harm meant”. Or so I hypothesized anyway.

“They seem pretty fun. I think I’d like one too,” I added.

Vulpix instinctively stepped forward to battle. I’d had her from the moment she hatched from her orange swirled egg, and since she never had the chance to roam the world and meet its creatures as a wild pokemon I liked to let her socialize with other pokemon whenever we got the chance. However, this time I remembered the dry snap of the nearby vegetation as Ivy’s gentle touch caused them to crack.

“Hey Vulpix, do you mind sitting this one out? I think your fire blasts just might be a bit too much for the environment to handle.”

My fox pokemon seemed to remember the forest-fire-waiting-to-happen too. I knew that she would never run away from a fight, but she knew when it was best to step down and let one of her teammates take over the action. She settled for curling up a few paces behind us and grooming her six tails as she watched the battle.

I decided on Dragonair and called him out of his pokeball.

His blue and white serpentine body burst out of the capsule and coiled around my shoulders, nuzzling his wing-bedecked head against my cheek in affection.

    “Punpun, you’re up,” Jesse said.

His pokemon stepped forward and began to stretch before dropping into a fighting position, his concave spine emphasizing his rear and reminding me once again of one of those waitresses I had encountered at a restaurant before. HootHoot’s was the name if I wasn’t mistaken.

My friend caught my attention and nodded.

“Thunder Wave!” we commanded in unison.

I watched in interest as Punpun began to gather electricity into a sphere, kamehameha style. I had never seen this attack done that way before, but I guess different pokemon used different parts of their bodies to focus their energy.

Dragonair released his grip on my shoulders and rose up in the air to begin his attack. The two orbs on his tail began to glow a clear cobalt blue as he channeled static electricity from the air around him into the spheres.

The air crackled around the dragon pokemon’s body as he tipped his head forward and carefully took aim at the k-shaped Unown. The swirling glow in the jewels died down as Dragonair pushed the electricity he had gathered out through his opalescent horn. He watched carefully as the blue energy barreled toward his opponent.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ivy was a bit surprised that the two wanted to battle the Unown. Sure, they were somewhat rare, but they weren't really anything special as far as battle or collecting went. They couldn't even breed. As far as she knew, they only learned one technique, which was Hidden Power.

She was interested in seeing what type of Hidden Power these two possessed. That was something that a creature was born with, although some said over time they could change if a special event happened to them or something similar to that.

Jesse called on Punpun, the pink-tinted Lopunny. Ivy thought that it must be shiny given its odd coloration, and Haji confirmed that thought with a nudge of his mind against hers. Then he supplied her with the knowledge that the Espeon species turned green when they were of a shiny variety. Ivy couldn't help but laugh to herself at the image in her mind, having to hide her smile in the crook of her arm. She could almost imagine Haji tinted that shade of jade, but then her grin just kept getting wider.

Kitsune decided to let her Vulpix sit this battle out and pulled out her Dragonair's Pokéball instead. Ivy was glad. The rustling brush behind them reminded her how much a fire was a bad idea. The snake-like Pokémon joined the Lopunny on the field after he nuzzles his Trainer for a minute.

Then, the two people nodded at each other, and they both called out for a Thunder Wave. The two Pokémon gathered energy to themselves as they charged, and then two crackling bolts of electricity shot out toward the two Unown. The bolts wrapped around the letters, and they didn't really make a lot of noise, but Ivy could see their discomfort from the way they crinkled their eyelids.

The two Unown hovered closer to the ground, bearing the weight of the paralyzing wave. It made a Pokémon struggle to move at times, and since they were so small, the electricity probably traveled through their limbs better. The two weren't going to sit there though. Ivy could feel the energy in the air being drawn to them.

An icy haze began to form around their bodies. The two letters drew closer to each other, and they seemed to be connected through some kind of psychic force. Then, the creatures began to spin as the ice started to get thicker. They rotated around like each half was a weight, and that gave them more momentum. Soon, they became a spinning disk covered in dice.

They hovered for a moment, and then both of them shot off, combining their energy just like her Trainer's Pokémon had. They suddenly hooked to the side, coming back toward the two in a sharp slashing motion. They struck Dragonair on his long neck, cutting off into the air in an upward angle as they arced around in a loop to come back at the Lopunny. The two were watching the spinning Unown, but they weren't able to dodge, and the small Pokémon hit Punpun in his middle, knocking him back far before they zinged back toward the tree line again.

The J and K broke apart with an icy snap, and then the whitish mist began to fade. Their eyes were still strained on the edges, so they were still being slowed by the Thunder Wave, but they weren't going to give up fighting yet. It looked like both of their Hidden Power types were Ice.

Dragons were weak to Ice, so they were going to have to be a bit careful now that their power was revealed.

OOC: Alright lets crowd this place.

IC: "Meteor Valley eh? Well I suppose I can take someone through there," I said, as I was drinking some coffee, reading an entry form for there. I hadn't taken any trainers through Meteor Valley yet, so this was going to be an exciting trip I felt. Meteor Valley was a great place, full of Psychic, Dark, and Ghost-types, and with it being October, the month of Halloween, it was the fitting place to visit. I just hoped that my trainer felt the same way.

I passed through one of the main hallways in the ranger headquarters, and saw various rangers just sitting around, or talking. One of them could have easily taken this run, but I liked the work. I got outside, and I figured I should let one of my Pokemon out to accompany me on this run. I was going to pick Ambipom, but I always used Ambipom, I wanted to use something more fitting this time. "Come on out here Chandelure," I said as it appeared from its Pokeball. Chandelure was the right Pokemon to accompany me this time. It was a Ghost-type, and could easily handle anything at Meteor Valley if it gave us trouble.

As I said, and waited for my trainer I checked out their info. It was she, name was Saundra Blake. She would be bringing some pretty decent items, and in them, oddly enough, was ten Family Type Repellents. With her was also four Pokemon; Scizor, Absol, Braviary, and Venomoth. It was a nice little variety of Pokemon, and they'd probably all be helpful on this trip. "This should be interesting," I said to Chandelure as I waited for Saundra to show up.
