Welp, this was going to be a pretty straight forward run, Aleria concluded. Three balls, three Pokemon. Two Ralts, one of each gender, and a Solosis. At least the kid was in the right place to find those Pokemon. Could've been worse. He could have wanted a pair of Ralts and a Solosis and been in the wrong part of the park. That would've been rough, and Aleria would have felt bad for the kid.

She watched as the Woobat hovered in front of Alakazam for a moment, and then it flew off to go join its friends. This was actually going quite well, or so Aleria thought so. While she couldn't guarantee that this kid would find what he wanted, she did hope that he'd find something to make up for it. But they needed to find something, and with the Woobat gone, they could continue on. "Lead on, Chandelier," Aleria told her Pokemon, and that she did. They pressed on until a crescent moon hovered in front of her Chandelure, blocking the path, no matter how hard Chandelier tried to pass by.

"Looks like this Lunatone wants someone to pay attention to it. I know you said you wanted to try and find two Ralts and a Solosis, so the answer to my question's probably a no. I have to ask anyways though. Do you want a Lunatone?"

Dalston watched as the woobat flew away. As they continued on suddenly a piece of rock floated upwards. It looked like a cresenct moon. "Luuuuuna." A Lunatone. He shifted back and forth on his feet. The ranger asked if he wanted it. God dang it, a Lunatone would be really cool. He would get it but if he found all of the pokemon he was looking for he'd be screwed. He let out a sigh. "I guess I better not get it. I'll have to come back again to get one." Man, he really wanted that. "Hey, do you think it's safe to be in here. I mean, all I have is a psychic type and there's bound to be dark types in a cave right? Plus, I doubt any of the pokemon I'm looking for would be in here.

Was it her, or could she smell a quick run? Because Aleria was smelling a quick run. In the brief time she and Dalston had been in the area of the Meteor Valley, they'd encountered two Pokemon, and of those two Pokemon, he'd ran from two of them. While it was still early on, she felt as if a pair of Ralts and a Solosis just weren't in Dalston's future today.

But it was still early. They'd only seen two things, and they were headed for their third.

It seemed as if Chandelier and the Lunatone had locked themselves in a staring contest, and when Dalston said he didn't want the crescent moon shaped Pokemon, it blinked, clearly offended by the fact that the trainer wouldn't want such an amazing Pokemon, and floated away. Aleria shrugged. At least it ran away. If there was one thing this kid had lucked out on, it was not having to use Poke Dolls. Most trainers weren't so lucky.

"There's no guarantee you'll even find what you're looking for at all, to be honest, but at least you're in the right place," Aleria said as she and Chandelier led the way. She could see the way out of here now. This was a rather short cave, not that Aleria minded either way. Chandelier probably cared more than she did. "There's nothing to worry about though. The Pokemon here don't attack first unless you wait too long to run. And besides, we haven't seen much in the way of Dark types just yet. Woobat and Lunatone were both Psychic types." Which led her to a concerning thought of how Dalston had brought his Alakazam, a Psychic type with a subpar Defense stat, to an area of the park that was littered with Dark and Psychic type Pokemon. He wouldn't even have an advantage over them, which meant battles could take forever. Still, Dalston had picked a good area of the park to start off with. There were quite a few good Pokemon here in Meteor Valley.

No sooner had they walked out of the cave and back into the sunlight and Aleria had returned Chandelier to her Poke Ball, there was a Pokemon right in front of them. A little black Pokemon with white bows and a rather purple face. The Gothita's face sort of reminded her of a plum, and that thought left her suddenly craving a plum. She made a mental note to get one once she left the park today. But right now, the plum faced Gothita posed a bit of a problem as it was blocking their path. While it wasn't what Dalston was looking for, maybe there was hope that this little Gothita would become a good member of his team. "You want a Gothita?"

Dalston sighed as the lunatone floated away, obviously disapointed. He wanted to cry out to it so bad so he could capture it. He quietly whispered, "if i dont get my 3 mons, please come back." They walked out of the cave with Chandelure leading when it disapeared in a flash of light. As they walked out, he thought the ranger said something as they saw a gothita. He walked up to it and petted it. "Sorry, i won't be battling you today." He walked past the pokemon. Hopefully, this would get a little more eventful, and less depresing, soon.

Nope to the Gothita as well. Aleria was not surprised. When one had a set goal in mind, they usually stuck to it. Dalston was no exception to this, sticking to his goal of a pair of Ralts and a Solosis that Aleria wasn't even sure they'd find here in the park today. Then again, they were still early in the run, only three encounters in. There was still hope. Aleria was just being pessimistic as usual.

But maybe she wouldn't have to be pessimistic for too much longer. Dalston had walked ahead of the Gothita, and Aleria moved to follow, but when she saw the Gothita run in front of Dalston and looked up at the trainer with curious eyes, she stopped, a smile forming on her face.

"I don't think Gothita's going to let you off the hook as easily as Woobat and Lunatone did," Aleria said, watching the Gothita in case it tried to attack. Aleria doubted it would just yet, but if they failed to escape again... Aleria shook her head. It wouldn't be that bad. While the kid only had two Park Balls and a Super Ball, Aleria was sure he'd have some money on him to pay for a Poke Doll. This was his first time in the park, but surely he wouldn't have come in with no money. "We have two options here. The first is to try running again and hope we're successful this time. If we fail with this first option, then you'll have to battle the Gothita, but you could try to run mid-battle if you wanted to. It's not an option I'd recommend since you only have Alakazam with you." It was also an option Aleria hoped Dalston wouldn't choose, more so for his sake than hers. Three encounters into a run, and he'd already have to leave the park because a Gothita managed to knock out his Alakazam. That wouldn't be very exciting at all. "Your second option is to buy a Poke Doll from me for five hundred PokeDollars. This guarantees our escape from the Gothita and keeps you and your Alakazam from battling an unnecessary battle. Nevertheless, the choice is yours, Dalston."

@WinterVines; Okay. Uh. Wow. Junior year is utterly insane. I was honestly not expecting to be off this long. Sorry about that!

This was not at ALL going according to plan. Time for some thinking. I closed my eyes, envisioning the scene. Electricity in the clouds...that's all static heading for a grounding...so if it wants to attack, it has to make a grounding of Coyote... My eyes snapped open as I reached a plan. "I have to ground it first! Coyote! Night Daze bolt, straight up that Gastly!"

I had no real hope Coyote could manage to directly spike the Ghost. Between his confused state and the Gastly's illogical bobbing, the chances were around those of a Judgement attack striking it dead right now out of nowhere. But at the very least, the spike would launch somewhere near the ghost. From the research I had done, I knew that the Night Daze attack was an emanation of raw Dark energy, all hazed and sparky. And while Dark energy is certainly odd, it behaves like electricity in a few key ways. Mainly, in that it has a negative and a positive charge. Coyote's general charge just so happened to be positive. Lighting was negative. And if there's one thing any 4th grader could tell you about electromagnetic force, it was that opposites attract.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ivy peered into the fog, but it was almost impossible to see. The while swirls coated the entire field, and crackling sounded ominously overhead. The ghost was playing pretty defensively, but she had a feeling that was going to change very soon.

It didn't look good for Coyote. His motions, of what she could see of his dark form through the mist, seemed less shaky than they were before, with more confident steps and less wobbling. That was a good sign, as it probably meant the effects of the Confuse Ray were wearing off.

The Trainer took a second to think and then called out to his Pokemon, “I have to ground it first!” He was probably referring to the incoming lightning attack. “Coyote! Night Daze bolt, straight up that Gastly!”

Using a pseudo lightning rod to ward off an electrical attack was a fair technique. Ivy had used the same one herself while battling a Porygon-Z in the Power Plant. However, what she wasn't sure of was Night Daze's ability to hold a charge. Sure, it was crackly and pretty to look at most times, but that didn't equate to a compatible electric charge. It was risky to use Night Daze again, anyway, since he had used it repeatedly in a row this fight.

The fox made a motion, and then energy formed around his fur—that much she could make out from the rolling fog. Then, Coyote looked a little confused. He probably didn't know where the ghost was. The mist was thick, and the Gastly hadn't done anything to reveal her position yet. If he was going to divert the incoming attack, he had to make his bolt count.

He threw out energy in a random direction, and Ivy saw it fly out but lost it in the milky air. Then, the sky responded. Bolts of light arched overhead, combined with a loud rumbling that made Ivy wince thanks to the volume assaulting her ears. A shower of lightning followed, striking down through the trees.

Ivy realized which attack it was: a Thunder. It was one of the most powerful lightning techniques. The Ranger backed up and got closer to Haji, feeling him mentally readying himself to protect both them and the Trainer. The problem with Thunder was that it wasn't just one bolt like Thunderbolt—it was many.

The entire field lit up as the Ranger watched one of the bolts come down and strike the rod. For a second, she could see everything, including the Gastly, who was nowhere near the makeshift lightning rod. As soon as it was bright, it seemed to instantly shut off, encasing them again in fog.

Another bolt came down, and the Gastly shrieked for a second. Ivy thought that maybe it had been clipped by its own attack. Thunder was pretty wild, after all.

Then, a pained yelp came from Coyote's side of the field. A bolt came down and struck him on the tail, sending jolts through his entire body. Ivy winced—not only was Thunder a strong attack, but the Zorua was wet as well, thanks to the stream attack and all the rain. Water was a great conductor of electricity.

The black fox collapsed to the ground, his jaw clenched—at least, that's what it looked like. That had to have hurt. Luckily, the attack was nearing the end of its life, and the last bolt struck nowhere near Coyote. They had enough things to deal with without adding even more damage to the list.

Then, the Dark-type was coated in an eerie blue light for a second. Ivy looked out and just barely caught the same glow in two small dots in the fog—likely the Gastly's eyes. The light abruptly flashed away, and the Zorua shivered like an electrical jolt went through him. Ivy pondered for a moment before she realized what it was.

“I think that was a Disable,” she said. “Gastly must've noticed that you keep favoring that same attack in your attack manipulations. That energy was locking it, so Coyote won't be able to use Night Daze for a while. That hit took a lot out of him. Do you want to continue still?”

As a Ranger, she hated seeing any Pokemon get hurt, even if it was the nature of catching wild Pokemon in the Park. Often, the wild ones had to test Trainers, since really, a lot of them didn't want to be caught in the first place. This was a preserve for a reason, and bringing people in was just their way to keep the population down. Still, it wasn't a walk in the park, as the saying goes. Prometheus' Zorua was really suffering now on such low energy. He had a choice to make soon. They could either back out now lest the fox get knocked out, or they could press on and see if he could capture this Gastly before that happened.

There was a newcomer to the park, and Aleria jumped at the opportunity to take him through. Sure she'd just come off of another run with someone else, but the opportunity to introduce a newbie to the park was an opportunity Aleria couldn't pass up. So from her office to the Meteor Valley gate she went. Her previous trainer was happy with the Pokemon he'd received from the run, and now she was free to go and take a newbie along! It was so exciting!

Not to mention, the prospect of making money always made Aleria happy.

The fog thickened as she approached the gates of the Meteor Valley, and she perched herself on a nearby rock, her Houndoom sitting on the damp ground beside her. Flame wasn't overly thrilled with the damp ground, but she was content enough just sitting down. Even she was excited to get into Meteor Valley, home to Dark and Psychic types alike. This was the perfect environment for Flame.

Her smartphone beeped once she'd gotten comfortable. It was an upgrade she'd taken on her way out the door to head to the gates she was now sitting outside of. An email had arrived with the information on her trainer. A lad named Luke and his Torchic. There was concern that joined the excitement that filled Aleria today; basic Pokemon wouldn't stand a chance against the stronger ones. Luke must've been a new trainer looking to catch some new ones, and of course, the park was always a good place for that. Loads of Pokemon, loads of opportunities to catch things. Aleria felt like he'd be fine. He was probably a smart guy, after all.

But for now, Aleria would have to wait to gauge his intelligence until he got here.

@Felly; Heads up: I am currently working on some character sheets and building for a Pokémon d20 RP, so my attention might not be entirely focused today or tomorrow. Don't worry though, I'll be sure to check my inbox at least once or twice every hour.

It was a beautiful afternoon at the National Park: the sky looked bright and lively as several dozen clouds sailed slowly southwards on the warm breeze, and an ever-growing band of yellow on the horizon signalled the coming of evening over the island. A heavy shower had fallen over the central and eastern parts of the park, causing the soil in the affected areas to become muddy and damp as it soaked up the excess rainwater, turning them into a paradise for Water, Ground and Grass-type Pokémon, as well as making it rather tough for Fire-types to fight and heavier Pokémon to get around. There didn't appear to be many Humans present in the park aside from the Rangers, and since there was a run that just ended several hours ago, it seemed as though the park was going to stay quiet and peaceful for the rest of the day.

    Right...?

Suddenly, a loud, ear-shattering scream sounded from near the Woods, causing a flood of hundreds of bird Pokémon to take to the skies in surprise and terror. At the source of the commotion was Luke Fon Fabre, a 17-year-old boy with long, red hair... and a serious attitude problem.

"Where the hell am I going?" He yelled in a confused rage as he violently ruffled his hair. Unfolding the map he received at the front gate of the park, Luke attempted to read it, but he quickly hit a brick wall in his plan when he realized he had no idea what any of it meant.

"Why does all this have to be so complicated?" He loudly complained, "All I want to do is catch some monsters! What a pain..."

Luke brought the tattered parchment back up to his face: he knew the area he was supposed to go to, Meteor Valley, and saw where it was on the map, but as for where he was now, he could only guess.

Luke groaned, "If only Master Van was here, he'd be able to figure this out in no time!"

Looking at the north-eastern portion of the map, he noticed a path leading to the Valley connecting to a fork near the Woods that looked suspiciously similar to the one he'd just passed a couple minutes earlier. "Maybe I should go and check that out." He said, turning around and walking back in the direction he previously came from.

After a few minutes of backtracking, he arrived at the fork in the road. It was more like a crossroads, really, where the path Luke was currently taking hugged the edge of the woods all the way from the Main Gate to the Great Lakes, and the intersecting path leading eastward towards the proper entrance to the woods. Glancing at the large, wooden sign off the north-western edge of the crossroads, Luke found that his intuition was correct and that the westward path did indeed go straight to Meteor Valley.

"Alright! Get ready, monsters, because here I come!" He gleefully shouted as he ran down the road towards his destination.

Luke stared in awe at the sight ahead of him: Two gigantic hills, lush and lively with flora, rose up from the earth, creating a deep, gaping valley between them that seemed to go on forever into the thickening fog. The grass, flowers and trees that once dotted the roads were no longer to be found, as they were gradually replaced by hard rock and bare soil as the fog blocked out more and more of the sun's light. As he continued ever downwards towards the valley's mouth, Luke started spotting the silhouettes of several rocky formations sticking up from the ground like the towers of a castle wall. It was an amazing sight, unlike anything he'd ever seen before, and it made him so much more confident that he had picked the perfect spot to catch Pokémon.

"I'm going to catch the most powerful monster in this place," Luke said, plucking an empty Parkball off of his belt and tossing into the air, "That way, I'll never lose a battle again!" he declared as he flashily swiped the falling ball out of the air with his left hand, "Yeah, maybe then I'll be able to leave the mansion on my own for real!"

Just as he was securing the Parkball back onto his belt, Luke felt his Torchic's ball stir slightly. "What do you want, Thing?" he snarled as he snatched the Pokéball and held it at eye level, glaring meanly while it shook back and forth in response, "You think I'm going to let you out after you messed up that last battle?"

    The ball trembled.

"You're staying inside that ball until I tell you to come out, you annoying freak!" He shouted, violently slamming the ball back into his belt, "I can't believe I'm stuck with this thing while all the servants at the mansion get all the strong ones for themselves! I'm not a kid, so why does everyone treat me like one, dammit!"

Luke sighed heavily, in the last seven years of his life, not a single thing has gone right to him: losing his memories as a child, being confined in his mansion to a life of boredom, his teacher, the only one who never treated him like a child, called away on a wild goose chase, and now, even having been liberated from his prison of luxury, he struggles to make sense of the world he so yearned to see.

"But I'm going to change all that." He thought aloud, "I'm going make Master Van and my parents proud, then they'll have to let me go free!"

With a renewed sense of determination, Luke continued onward towards the gates to Meteor Valley...

Aleria had gotten so bored while waiting for this Luke guy to show up that she'd taken to playing with the smartphone she'd received on her way out to the gates. Toying with the settings, deleting quite a few unnecessary applications that were preinstalled on the phone, and downloading some new ones - that had occupied a good bit of her time just at the start. Flame had taken to laying on the ground next to the rock Aleria was on, pressing her black body against the rock for the warmth that the soggy ground wouldn't provide.

It was funny. Just as she'd opened a game called Angry Pidgeys, several bird like Pokemon could be heard chirping in the distance, flying into the sky. Aleria looked up when her Houndoom jumped up and started barking. "Calm down, Flame," Aleria said as she placed a comforting hand on the Houndoom's head. "They probably just got scared. The Woods can be a scary place for birds, y'know."

Flame the Houndoom took her master's words to heart and plopped back down on the ground, still soggy but not nearly as much now that her body was warming it up and returning it to a more solidified state.

Aleria went back to Angry Pidgeys after that. A simple game, really. You slingshot Pidgeys at Grumpigs that have created structures. Some levels even had Spoink, Tepig, Swinub, and Mankey as enemies in addition to the Grumpig while one could also launch Hoothoot, Taillow, Starly, Pidove, and Fletchling at the pigs as well. Boring, but it helped pass the time considerably well. Not to mention it was the only free game on the top ten list in the app store that sounded remotely interesting. Ah well. Better than just sitting and doing nothing.

A sigh escaped her. She'd exited out of the Angry Pidgeys game, finally becoming bored of it and also because she was curious of the time. The frustrated noise from Aleria made Flame perk up a bit, just briefly though as the dog like Pokemon went back to resting her head on her paws. She'd been waiting for quite some time.

"Patience, Aleria. He'll be here soon enough," she mumbled to herself, forcing herself to remain calm. He was a new guy to the park. Maybe he'd gotten lost. Eventually she'd have to send out a message to other rangers to keep an eye out for him, but giving him a little more time would be fine. Just a bit. New guy, probably lost. The National Park was a big place; it wouldn't be surprising.

Until this guy showed up, she'd just lean back and play some Angry Pidgeys.

    @Felly; thanks!

Dalston thought, not sure what to do. When he had originally come here he had planned to make a perfect Psychic team, all planned out and good for a gym. But yet- now he wasn't so sure. There was some cool pokemon here and he was starting to loose his confidence in his plan. "You know what-" he said looking Alakzam in the eye. "Let's do this. I know we're at a disadvantage," he said now looking at the ranger now. "But I know Alakazam and I can do it." He looked at his pokemon, feeling a sense of trust. "Energy Ball!" he yelled, hoping he could throw the psychic pokemon off with a tm move.

Aleria blinked when Dalston suddenly decided to fight the Gothita. He'd been going for a Ralts and a Solosis originally; now he was trying to catch a Gothita. Well, trying to catch was probably incorrect wording. More like battling it, but usually when trainers battled Pokemon, they caught them, at least here in the park. Still, Dalston had only one Pokemon with him. Maybe he was trying to catch the Gothita so he could leave with something rather than nothing. Losing Alakazam would be game over.

She shrugged. "Okay then," she'd said, taking a step back from the trainer and the battling Pokemon. "Just be careful. If Alakazam faints, your run ends." But it seemed like Dalston already had a plan in mind; right off the bat, he'd commanded his Alakazam to launch an Energy Ball at the Gothita. Despite the similar typing, Aleria felt like Dalston would have the upper hand since his Alakazam knew the technical machine for Energy Ball. It was beneficial in this area of the park, where Pokemon were usually either of the Psychic or Dark type. Alakazam used its psychic powers to form the green ball of energy, and Gothita, not expecting the attack, took it and toppled over.

Gothita retaliated quickly; the Energy Ball had hurt it, but it was an eager little Pokemon. So much so that it ran up to the Alakazam and tickled it. The larger, fully evolved Psychic type laughed aloud as it was tickled by the younger Psychic type. Gothita backed off after a moment; it didn't want to stick around too long in case Alakazam retaliated right off the bat, but the little Gothita was giggling now, as if it had the upper hand right off the bat.

    @Felly;

As the blast hit the small pokemon Dalston's Ranger looked surpriesd that he had suddenly changed his mind. The pokemon quickly got back up and ran up to his Alakzam giving it a tickle. "Energy Ball again then use calm mind!" He hoped he could manage to damage the pokemon enough to catch it. "Now do a psychic and pick up some small rocks! After that smash them on it repeatedly!" He thought back to how when he had first came he had been set on certain pokemon , but now he was okay with another. Of course, if Alakazam fainted it would be all over. Thinking about this he called out once more. "Teleport away from it and psychic some rocks to float around and hit it if it comes toward you!"

Aleria frowned a bit at first. Energy Ball twice in a row. It would probably work this time, but next time... these Pokemon were smart, they wouldn't fall for the same trick three times in a row. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and that's no good. Or something like that. Aleria wasn't really sure how the quote went.

But then Dalston pulled a trick out of his sleeve. Psychic with rocks. That was interesting. The green ball of energy had hit Gothita as the little Psychic type charged towards its larger opponent and knocked it back. Each time Gothita tried to get up, rocks would pummel it.

    Troll Alakazam? Yes, please.

But then a sudden dark pulsation struck Alakazam and broke his concentration on the rocks. Gothita was able to roll out of the way to avoid the one that would've hit it if it had stayed where it was when the Dark Pulse hit Alakazam, but the broken concentration was enough for Gothia to get back to its feet. Alakazam regained his senses as he teleported to a different location, reappearing behind Gothita, who whirled around to launch a wave of psychic energy at a nearby rock formation. Said rock formation split up, and before Alakazam could react, he was pummeled by the rocks that slid down the mountainside.

Aleria frowned again. "I hope that's not destruction of park property that the Gothita's doing. I'm not sure how that works out if a wild Pokemon destroys things here."

At any rate, regardless of whether or not Gothita was destroying park property, the rock shield Alakazam had set up was broken as his concentration was broken when Rock Slide hit him. Gothita panted. The beating it had received earlier wore it out, but it still had some fighting spirit inside of its little body.

Meteor Valley is not one that she usually frequents, but as she looks down from the eighth Ranger outpost atop one of the Valley's twin hills, she cannot help but wish that she did. Alas, it seems that its inhabitants aren't too popular--kids these days were more interested in the hardy, cool types of Deckbi, or the scenery of the Gardens and the Woods. Perhaps they should rename it--with all the Sci-fi and Wi-fi and Space-Trek-Wars that kids watch these days, Babbs can only imagine it's fried the new generation's brain to thinking that the place was some kind of wasteland just because it had "Meteor" in the name... or so she grumbles as she shuffles to the outer edge of the outpost, cane stabbing at the grass.

She's alone today, choosing to keep her Pokemon companions in their homes for now. They'd need to preserve their energy. Something's amiss in the Valley today--the air is still, utterly so, and yet the smell of flowers permeates everything. It nearly gags her with how strong it is; it's almost like being in the subway and having someone spray two gallons of gaudy perfume as soon as they get on, and having to suffocate in it for the duration of the ride.

Well, Babbs thinks as she pulls a handkerchief up about her mouth, tying it into place beneath her bun. At least I'm getting paid to suffer. She stares out across the verdant valley for a few long moments. It seems calm, but it's far, far too quiet for her to be comfortable. The valley was heavy with flora but something must be blooming like crazy to drench the place this badly. The old, weathered woman shuffles her feet and then gazes back toward the headquarters, waiting for her quarry to arrive.

    ((Note: that's a Beldum, not a Gardevoir.))

The transport pod slowly descends, with a girl and two Pokémon standing in it. She holds her Leafeon up to the window, allowing sunlight to fall on its leaves. The Verdant Pokémon lets out a contented sound, and the girl smiles.

The other Pokémon, a Gardevoir, stares at the outpost below, analyzing it.

As the pod reaches the outpost, the girl positions herself just in front of the door, and waits a good three seconds after it opens before stepping out. Her Leafeon steps out after her and quickly catches up to her, walking by her side, while her Gardevoir simply trails behind.

She approaches the woman, who she assumes is her Ranger. The Leafeon stops a step behind the girl, while the Gardevoir stops next to the Leafeon. If they smell the flowers, they don't seem to be reacting to it.

"Hi, uh... I'm Maki, and this is Mikiko," she says, gesturing to her Gardevoir, who gives a little wave.

"And this is Haruka," she says, gesturing in the same way to her Leafeon, who doesn't react. She's a little weird and off in her own world at times, Mikiko adds, telepathically. Though I do admit I'm pretty much the same sometimes.

    "Pleased to meet you."

Sleek cradle descends from the heights of its sling, arced limbs folding from rounded underbelly to settle secure feet to the verdant ground. Doors sighs as pressure is released from the doors, which fall away into steps to guide Babbs' new charge to the earth. There's a silence, perhaps a few seconds if she were counting, and then a decidedly average girl steps from the vessel. Monochrome wardrobe paves the way for raven hair and brown eyes. In her wake are two Pokemon--a Leafon and a Gardevoir. The former steps with sprightly grace down the steps while the latter instead drifts calmly down.

Babbs notices that she's quite young, like most of the Park's visitors. At times, she wishes she had some company that was her own age. Then again, it's not like she's expecting seventy-five-year-old knights in shining armor to come sweep her off of her feet. This one might be neither, but Babbs is relieved that she's polite--well-mannered company at least passes the time quicker than the alternative. She pulls her mouth cover down, then, minding her own manners as she speaks.

"Pleasure to meet ya', Maki, Mikoko! I'm Babbs." Eyes swing to each figure in turn, and the woman gives a little jump of surprise when a voice projects itself into her thoughts. However, she quickly soothes. Of course--did she expect anything else from a Gardevoir? It's been too long since she'd been near one. She offers the humanoid Pokemon and warm smile of reassurance.

"No worries," she projects back, latching onto the brief telepathic link. She didn't spend her life meditating for nothing--though her voice is still weak, faint as it returns to the Gardevoir. 'Damn this mortal coil' and all that jazz--she grew weak with age, and has always been weak with humanity. Her younger years of running with the telepathic types of this very valley were long over, replaced with helping run the place instead.

Babbs pauses only for a moment after before distant eyes pull back into focus. She turns on her heel and begins to shuffle along with gnarled cane skirting the grass. Hands pull up her handkerchief over her mouth again. Voice grumbles lowly to herself as she steps up to the half-veiled keypad at the gate's entrance, grudgingly typing in the code, unchanging monotone beeps barely audible over her mumbles. Gears whir as the gate churns open. Something along the lines of whatever happened to good ole' padlocks rumbles from beneath her breath.

Griping fades, however, as soon as they step into the gate. Watery blue eyes turn out over familiar green hills and the glittering lake nestled between them and she can't help but feel a bit more chipper despite the obnoxiously-heavy scent of flowers and the almost ominous stillness of the land.

"We head out to the lake," she decides as she walks, pace surprisingly spry for a woman as old as the rocks she strides on. "You can swim, can't ya?" It's a joke disguised in a serious tone, given away by the narrowing of her eyes as features crinkle in a wrinkly smile.

Mikiko lightly scratches her light green hair, though her fingers are soft and lack nails or claws to properly scratch with, deciding not to press the matter of Babbs mispronouncing her name. So, where are we going? she asks no one in particular.

As the gate opens, Maki follows behind Babbs, taking in the scenery. Haruka sniffs the air, finally picking up on the intense smell of flowers and slowing down slightly. She lets out a cry, lasting a few seconds, something that Maki roughly understands as "this is unusual" and Mikiko, translating, projects into her mind as given my experience with such situations, this especially does not bode well.

"We head out to the lake," Babbs says. "You can swim, can't ya?"

Mikiko grins. I can't, but I can telekinetically lift myself over water!

Babbs gives a soft smile beneath her handkerchief at the reply, though it's visible in the brightness of her eyes and the crinkling at the corner of weathered lids. She's unaware that she mispronounced the name--her old ears don't work right sometimes, as she would say! She surveys the knee-high grass that races across rolling hills and up to the treeline of towering oaks. Lips purse with thought as she plots the route in her head.

"Alright, we'll head down and follow the treeline on one side to the lake, follow the shore, and head back on the other." Cane jabs at the earth as she begins to walk, heading toward the first cropping of trees at the base of the westward hill. Straddling the line between shelter and open terrain would give them a healthy mixture of creatures in the Valley while also offering a bit of relief from the smell--it'd be thinner on the fringes, she hopes, and is promptly disappointed as soon as their left side is at the trees. It's almost worse than it was before. Nose wrinkles with disdain beneath crimson handkerchief, but where there's a will, there's a way.

After a few minutes of walking, she pauses, noticing rounded blue figures bobbing above the flora in the distance. Hand raises to shield her eyes from the sun. A low murmur of cacophonous noise begins to raise slowly from the grass as the mass of forms slowly creeps toward them. Knowing smirk crosses wrinkled lips.

"Down, down," she whispers, crouching suddenly, hand pressed against the tree they stand near to steady herself. It wouldn't let them evade detection for long, but it would at least be long enough to see what her Trainer wanted to do. The sounds become more audible: a multitude of Wy's layered atop each other in a bashing concoction of chaos. Top of heads bob above the flowers as the mass of Wynauts slowly moshes their way toward the pair and their Pokemon.

"Gaggle of Wynaut. If we can find a straggler, you'd be fine to engage one," she advises, turning her gaze toward her charge to see what the woman wanted to do. It was ultimately up to her. Even as they consider it, though, the sound of their hardy bodies thrashing against each other begins to make itself known beneath their rising cries...
