    Cameron remained silent and shook his head at the Tentacool. The Water Pokemon didn’t get the hint because it started to edge closer to us. Cameron responded by tossing a Pokedoll at the creature. As the Pokemon vanished with its prize, I continued on.

    We were almost halfway there, so chance were that we would find more Pokemon along the way. Sure enough, a few minutes later I spotted a large green frog floating on its back in the water, basking in the sun. It was a Politoed. I looked over at Cameron to see if he wanted it.

    I actually really wanted a Politoed because I had just traded mine, but I didn't want to waste time trying to capture this one. The battle wasn't worth the time when I could easily catch a Poliwag in a quarter of the time and train it myself, which was more fun that way. "No, let's move on. Interested in capturing a Poliwag, not Politoed... for training purposes. Like usual, I'll have a Pokedoll ready in case this guy won't let us go by." Although it wasn't looking too good, I still had hope that a Phione would come my way.

    Cameron looked at the Politoed longingly and seemed to consider trying to catch the Pokemon. He finally said, “No, let’s move on. Interested in capturing a Poliwag, not Politoed for training purposes. Like usual, I’ll have a Pokedoll ready in case this guy won’t let us go by,”

    “Alright,” I said, looking over at the floating Politoed.

    The Pokemon hadn’t yet spotted us, but it was alert enough that it would sense our Pokemon through the water if it didn’t hear us. It was still facing away from us, so I was optimistic.

    That optimism was dashed a moment later when the Politoed turned on its belly and started to swim towards us, a playful gleam in its eyes. Cameron must have been waiting because a Wingull Pokedoll landed in the water before it. The Politoed took the doll and dove underwater.

    I was about to continue on when a Whishcash popped up from the deeps, its mouth spread into a large grin.

    “Whishcash,” it said to us.

    Ranger Rex

    @AmericanTreeFrog;

    I was on my way to the lakes to relieve the lazy Ranger known as Argent from his position. He was quitting or something, which made me wonder why he took this run. It wasn't long before I spotted Garth and that ditcher Argent. I went up to Argent and told him he was free to leave now. He happily took off without even saying thanks, so rude.

    I was there just as Garth was throwing his Parkball at a Tympole. The ball shook but two times before remaining motionless on the ground. I walked over and picked it up, congradulating him. "Well done, sir. I am Rex, and I'll be taking over your park run. Let me know when you are ready to proceed." I said. I was surprisingly in a good mood today.

    "No sir, not interested in capturing this Pokemon either." I said to him, looking away from the Whiscash. The only Pokemon I would probably catch were Poliwag, Tympole, Frillish, Krabby, Horsea, and Phione most definitely. There were others, but hopefully I had one of these Pokemon in my encounter list. If not, then one of my brothers or me would have to make yet another damn attempt at the lakes, which was something I wanted to stop doing because there were other places I wanted to go. I still would come here no matter how many times it took though, had to get one.

    “No, sir, not interested in capturing this Pokemon either,” Cameron said in response.

    “No problem, Whiscash isn’t that great of a Pokemon anyway.” I wanted all the Water Pokemon around, but even I would save this Pokemon until the end of my list.

    “Whiscash,” the Pokemon blurted before diving underwater and disappearing. I shrugged at Cameron and pointed us towards shore. I was getting tied of the open water so a change would be nice.

    Thankfully we didn’t find any Pokemon to shore. I directed us towards a small inlet where a river mouth was when I spotted our next Pokemon. It was a small fish wide a wide mouth and large eyes. It was a gray Pokemon with stripes of yellow on its body. It was a Tympole. It was a Pokemon I wanted, and I had once caught one, but ended up trading it to my brother.

    A small Tympole came towards us. I didn't really like the middle evolution of this form, it looked sort of ugly. So did the final evolution, but at least it looked a bit better. However, I already had Seismtoad so I didn't have a need to catch Tympole. "Let's skip this too. I already have this and I don't know anyone that would want one so no need to try capturing it." I wasn't sure which area Phione were in since I, nor anyone on this island has ever seen one so I wasn't even sure where to look so where ever he led me, I would go. Leo and I, sent our Pokemon out scouting this area to try and find one, so far no luck. They were called rare for a reason. I loved Water types and the lakes, but I was already tired of being here.

    The ball shook twice before settling on the ground motionless.

    “Well done, sir,” a voice said from behind me, startling me. “I am Rex, and I’ll be taking over your Park run. Let e know when you are ready to proceed.”

    “I’m ready now,” I said. I recalled my Whimsicott, after giving it a few words of praise. Since my ranger had took off for some reason, Rex would be my new ranger, which didn’t really matter to me. Hopefully we could get this run going and I could find the Pokemon I wanted. I was looking for a Tynamo, Phione, Relicanth and a bunch of others.

    “Let’s skip this too,” Cameron stated. “I already have this and I don’t know anyone that would want one so no need to try capturing it.”

    I nodded at him, slightly disappointed that he hadn’t found a Pokemon he wanted so far. It wasn’t my fault that he hadn’t found a Pokemon that he wanted, but sometimes that was just the luck you had when entering the National Park. I know I had a bad run once, but it all eventually evened out. Besides, he had got a solid list of Pokemon, he just didn’t want any of them.

    I turned back to the Tympole to see the Pokemon swimming towards us, its small tail whipping fast back and forth. I turned my Starmie around and tried to go around it, but the Tympole stuck to my tracks, coming after us. I finally signaled to Cameron and he tossed a Pokedoll at the Pokemon.

    The Tympole took the doll and swam off, content with its prize. I steered Starmie back to the river mouth and headed down it. We had traveled down the river for about eight minutes before I spotted a horned Pokemon swimming lazily about. It was a Seaking. I was sure Cameron wasn’t interested.

    This time a Seaking came our way. I was quite disappointed in how this was going, I just wanted to leave this area already and go else where. I still had a Scraggy and Timburr I wanted to catch over at Mt. Oktori and a Litwick and Rhyhorn over at Deckbi. I was supposed to have those Pokemon ages ago, but thanks to damn Phione not showing up anywhere, that hadn't happened yet. I was beginning to think that it was a lie and that Phione wasn't really located in this area. How could it live here and not be seen by me, or anyone for that matter. I know Legends were hard to find, and Phione was sort of considered legendary, at least by some, but here at the park, me being a ranger, I should know where to look, but I don't. I just sighed and pulled out another doll in case Seaking didn't want to leave us alone like the Tympole had.

    @AmericanTreeFrog; Every other Pokemon I rolled for you was shit ;[.

    “I’m ready now,” He said, recalling his Pokemon. I wasn't really sure which area to lead him to now. I hadn't been to this place but once and I don't even remember what I caught there. Anyways, I just started walking, hoping that something would show up soon and he'd want it. I wasn't even sure what he'd want, and I wasn't going to ask since I wouldn't know where to look for what he wanted anyways.

    We came to a small lake where a small duck looking Pokemon splashed around. The yellow water type was a Psyduck. It was well known for the psychic abilities, but not much else. I actually thought it was a Psychic type at one point, still do actually. I led us over towards the Psyduck and pointed towards it. "Would you be interested in capturing this Pokemon?" I asked him.

    Cameron sighed when he saw the Seaking and reached for another Pokedoll. He didn’t even say a word, which spoke to his current mood, which was low at the moment. Something that could boost his spirits was that the Seaking paid us no attention as we passed by it.

    Seaking wasn’t a powerful Pokemon, but it did have a decent attack and it could do some damage. But since it didn’t want to stick around we had nothing to worry about at all.

    We continued along the path heading to the ice mountain for about ten minutes. We were just swimming along when I noticed the breeze and waves had picked up in entirely. I was looking around for the Pokemon that had caused it when I spotted a small blue Pokemon hovering just above the surface level coming towards us. It was a Phione, a Pokemon so rare that this was the first time I or anybody I knew had seen it.

    I was instantly jealous of Cameron. I wondered how he would battle this Pokemon.

    I had already given up hope in finding Phione today. Instead of paying attention to the surrounding area, I was just planning my next trip here. I pulled out my map of the area and crossed out the section I was in. No luck here. We just kept heading up the mountain when a breeze picked up. Garth began looking around to see what was causing this, but I honestly didn't even care anymore, it was just going to be some Pokemon that I didn't even care about. When he spotted it, I just pulled out my Pokedoll and got ready to throw it. My eyes followed the gaze of his to see a little blue Pokemon floating on the surface. I dropped the doll from my hand and my mouth fell open. At first I thought I was just seeing things, but once I established that I was not in fact seeing things and that it was actually Phione. I dropped to my knees and pulled out my equipment. First I pulled out my Pokeplayer and popped in a blank disk. Instead of clicking play though, I clicked record.

    Once I was satisfied with that, I proceeded over to my most valuable item, my Master Ball. I brought it out and tossed it at Phione without even thinking twice. No way I was going to risk battling it and having it faint or run away. I wasn't going to let that chance take place, no, I was Master balling it. I just watched happily as the ball soared through the air.

    I could almost see Cameron shout out with joy when he saw the Phione. He pulled out his pack and removed three different items. One was a Pokeplayer, and another a voice disk. He popped the disk in the player and hit record, which started to record the sounds the Phione was the making. This would attract other Phione to the trainer if they had the disk.

    Soon as the device was finished recording he pulled out another item. It was a Park Ball, but not a normal one, it was the ultra rare Masterball. A ball that would capture without fail, I couldn’t see a reason not to use it on this Pokemon. It was a great choice by Cameron because he avoided any of the risks associated with battling.

    He tossed the ball at Phione and watched it eagerly. The Phione saw the ball coming towards it and stared at it with contempt. It was probably thinking that the trainer who threw it was dumb and not knowing what it was doing.

    It lifted an arm to bat the item away, but I could see the shock on its face as instead of being safe, Phione was pulled inside. The ball fell to the surface motionless, the Masterball never failed.

    I scooped the ball up and headed for the entrance like Cameron asked. He got what he wanted, it was time to leave.

    My ranger led me to another small lake away from the Tympole. It was only a short walk to this next lake, and as soon as we reached the place we discovered another Pokemon. There was a small yellow duck-like Pokemon splashing in the water. It was a Psyduck, a Pokemon that evolved into Golduck, a Water type which I already had.

    “Would you be interested in capturing this Pokemon?” he asked me.

    “Nope, already have a Golduck. Let’s leave it alone, and if not I have a Pokedoll ready to give it,” I replied, reaching for a Pokedoll in my pack.

    @AmericanTreeFrog;

    “Nope, already have a Golduck. Let’s leave it alone, and if not I have a Pokedoll ready to give it,” He replied. I just nodded. It was a cool Pokemon, but no sense in him wasting his time on something he already had. As far as I knew, my brothers and I were the only ones that caught the same species of Pokemon more than once. The Psyduck didn't want to leave us alone though, it started over towards us, so I grabbed the doll from Garth's hand and tossed it at the Psyduck. "Let's go before the effects of the doll wear off." I wasn't quite sure how long the effects of the doll lasted, never stuck around long enough to find out.

    We moved down the lake, searching for anything interesting. I hadn't seen anything worth mentioning, and no wild Pokemon came at us so we just kept going. Soon after passing the lake, we came across a small river bed. There was sure to be something interesting in this location. However, before we could even start looking, a small Shellos waddled over towards us.

    "Interested in that?" I asked, unsure whether or not he'd want to capture it.

    NBP #1 @Black Reaper;

    It was a slow day at the Ranger Outpost by the Great Lakes. The air was clear, though somewhat warm, and the office was nice and quiet. There hadn't been a lot of Trainers eager to get their hands on Pokemon during the multi-Trainer Park run times--it seemed as if they preferred to go at it alone. It was all the same; it was more difficult to schedule an individual run through the Park, but not impossible. Plus, not everyone was in the same parts of the National Park at the same time... sighing, Zor kicked a foot up on a nearby chair, clicking away boredly at her computer. She looked up the Trainer she was to take out today--a guy named Tiberius Dreamsmasher. She snorted at the name. It seemed so... cheesy. Then she thought of her own name and how stupid it must have sounded to others and sobered immediately. "Moonlin" wasn't exactly a common last name...

    Also, this guy apparently was seriously anti-social. A people hater. Zorayda frowned at that--she was naturally bubbly and loved people in general. She wondered how she'd get along with this guy...The door opened and in walked a somewhat tall, gangly kid with shaggy brown hair and a serious expression on his face, as if expecting something. The Ranger got up immediately and walked up to the kid, sticking her hand out.

    "Hi! You must be Tiberius. I'm your Ranger for the day. Great Lakes, right?" She asked in an upbeat tone, trying to start on the right foot. "All right then, we'll get started right away. Let's go! Got your Pokemon?" The bubbly blonde noted the Poke balls at the teen's belt and nodded affirmation of her own question. She led him down to the Ranger's makeshift parking lot--a bunch of smoothed-over sand--and unclipped keys from the belt loop of her shorts. Beckoning Tiberius to get in the passenger's seat of the golf cart-like vehicle, she turned the engine over and drove until she was a good 500 feet or so from where the gate was.

    "Okay, so. Rules," she started, clapping her hands together and turning to her Trainer in her seat. "We walk along the beach and see what we find. If you have a Pokemon that knows Surf, you may use it to find other Pokemon, so long as I go with you. No fishing poles and I retain the rights to disallow you to go in certain areas. Are you good on all the rules?" She asked him. After confirmation that she did, the Ranger unbuckled her belt and hopped out, readjusting her own four Poke balls as needed. The short woman took unclipped one of them and depressed the button until it made a soft 'click'. Out of it came a fierce-looking Jolteon, shaking its pointed fur and looking up at his owner questioningly.

    "Great Lakes today, Storm," she said to him, reaching down to scratch his ears. "I'll keep him out for emergencies," Zor informed Tiberius, turning to him. Looking suddenly startled, she put a hand to her mouth. "Oh! I forgot to introduce you two. Storm, this is Tiberius, our Trainer for the day. Tiberius--can I call you Ty?--this is Storm, one of my faithful Pokemon companions," she finished proudly. Storm seemed to nod at this, standing up a little straighter with pride.

    NBP 1, Ranger Adelaide 'Jello' Crowe
    @EmBreon @Princess Crow
    ~~~
    Leaves crackled and twigs snapped beneath the wheels of a bright blue bicycle. Adelaide Crowe sat perched on the seat, her short legs pushing down the pedals with rhythmic strokes. The ride was quite bumpy - the path was intended for feet, after all, which don't suffer from a tendency to fly up into the air or spill an unwary rider when a ridge or tree root is hit - but the bike was built for off-road travel and had never been unable to handle something as minor as dirt or stones. As it was, Adelaide enjoyed the rough road. The jostling helped her to focus, and it made riding feel like a challenge. She could have flown in on her Togekiss, like she usually did, but she tended to leave her head back in the clouds after a long flight. For today, she would need to be paying the utmost attention. It was her first-ever team run, and she wanted to make sure that she didn't mess anything up. On the surface, it didn't seem like anything should be so different from the usual runs she'd led, but two sets of Pokemon battling at once meant double the potential for problems. In addition to making sure that both Trainers followed the Park's rules, she might be called upon to foster teamwork between the two of them - and Adelaide wasn't much good with teamwork.
    Then Adelaide rolled past the treeline and out onto open ground. The sun streamed down on her, filling her with warmth and chasing away her anxiety. She grinned and began to pedal harder. There was no reason for her to be worried, of course. When she'd taken the job, she had been well aware of the extra attentiveness and diplomacy that would be expected of her, and she had been confident that she was up to the task. This selfsame confidence slowly began to come back, restored by the warm, kindly sunlight and the restoring smell of the saltwater breeze. Adelaide allowed herself to relax and enjoy the day; as she did so, she noticed one of the golf carts sitting outside the Great Lakes gate. She gave whichever Ranger and Trainer were there a friendly wave, making a mental note to steer clear of them if she could, so that they could have privacy and space for their battles.
    After another few minutes, Adelaide pulled the bike to a halt and hopped off, locking the front wheel to a rack in front of the Great Lakes Outpost and ducking inside briefly to hang up her coat and stock up on Poke Dolls. She didn't stay inside for long, preferring to wait outside in the fresh air instead of the stuffy building. Forgoing the chairs inside, she came back out and parked herself on the steps of the front porch. While I'm here, she decided, I may as well gloss over the Trainers' profiles again. She was generally pretty bad about reading them; she told herself that she was making it a point not to be biased about whose run to take. She remembered the Trainers' names - Gertrude Smith and Grace Stone - but little else about either of them.
    When she read Gertrude Smith's profile, Adelaide's jaw dropped. She had to reread it twice, to make sure that she hadn't misread something on the tiny screen of the phone she was reading off of, but there wasn't a mistake. The woman was seventy-eight years old and grouchy. That's just... What? The other Trainer was more commonplace - Grace Stone was fresh out of her teenage years, and apparently a great student at a Johto academy. Adelaide struggled to puzzle out some sort of connection between the pair of them. Maybe Grace was a young relative of Gertrude's? Either way, Adelaide found the whole thing a bit worrying. The Great Lakes wasn't exactly harsh terrain, but the young Ranger didn't think that it was a good idea to bring an old woman out with unpredictable wild Pokemon.
    Adelaide did her best to shrug off her doubts and unhooked a Pokeball from her belt. She pushed down the button at its center; the capsule popped open with a soft snap. A small blob of what appeared to be pink jelly landed on the grass and looked up at its Trainer with a dopey grin. "Ready for a day at the Lakes, Jello?" Adelaide asked. Jello the Ditto gave an enthusiastic nod, her - Adelaide called the little blob a female, anyway - whole gelatinous body rippling from the action. A flicker of motion at the edge of her vision caught Adelaide's eye; she looked up to see two people making their way down the trail. "Good, 'cause it looks like our Trainers are here. This is going to be our first team run, so let's make it great, yeah?"
    With that, she hopped up off of the stair and walked quickly toward the newcomers, her strides long and frequent so as to make up for her short legs. Jello trailed along behind, her face still set in a small but enthusiastic grin. Putting on a similar smile, Adelaide greeted the Trainers - sure enough, one was a stocky old woman with a shawl covering a mane of rough gray hair, and the other was a girl of roughly Adelaide's height with a near-waifish figure and reddish hair. Adelaide stepped forward to introduce herself, only to stop short as she caught a rotting odor coming from the old woman. Taking a step back, she muttered, "Erm, let's eighty-six those handshakes for today, ladies. I have a cold." Regaining her composure, she added. "Anyway, hi. I'm Ranger Adelaide Crowe, as you probably already know. This little monster," she jerked her thumb at Jello, who waved one nubby hand in return, "is called Jello. She and I will be escorting you two through the Great Lakes today. Now, a little bit of information about the Lakes: first of all, you're free to go pretty much wherever you want, unless I say otherwise. Second, if you have a Pokemon who can swim, you're welcome to use it to carry you across or in any of the Lakes. We'll start off by walking along the beach, unless you have questions before we go." Adelaide rocked back and forth on her feet slightly, waiting for the answer so that they could get going.
    OOC: I'll let you guys lead me around, because I kind of just want to get a feel for how things are done around here. (Too lazy to read all 700 of the threads and whatnot, hehehe....*cough*) LET ME KNOW IF I AM DOING/NOT DOING SOMETHING WRONG/RIGHT. Ok. ~ Also! Don't mind my character! She hates everybody! But I do not. :>
    @VeloJello; @Princess Crow
    Gertrude sneered at the child next to her - the one leading her down this blasted road into the wilderness of the National Park. The girl seemed beyond hopeful that this place held the answers she sought for self discovery, or whatever nonsense it was that she had rambled to Gertrude the day before. Kids these days... Gertrude rolled her eyes and huffed a few paces behind the nineteen-year-old, who almost seemed to be skipping down the path. Bunch of hippies.
    The old woman groaned and rubbed the ache accumulating in her bionic hip. She never would have agreed to this absurdity if she hadn't been completely out of jellyfish goop. It was an irreplaceable ingredient for both her stews and shampoo. The hazards she had been warned of here were minuscule in comparison to her homeland, however - a place full of far more ravenous Pokemon and treacherous terrain than the mildly tame excuses for Pokemon in the National Park. She was a lot hardier than she looked, and she could probably run circles around these people. As long as she had her inhaler, that is. And maybe an oxygen tank.
    But despite her obvious physical fitness and tolerance of the environment, this hike was beginning to wear on her. Sweat was beginning to bead along her hairline, and her Shroomish perfume was now mixing with her body odor.
    "We better be almost there, midget," she said threateningly and gave another evil stare into the back of the girl's head. A stare almost sinister enough to penetrate the teenager's skull.
    Before the midget, Grace, had a chance to ignore or respond to her, some kind of crabshack came into view with a stupid little flag on top. The outpost, she guessed. And approaching them with an obnoxious grin on her face was undoubtedly their Ranger.
    The girl was weird-looking, and a sack of bones. Much like Grace. Gertrude wondered why these kids never just ate a blimey sandwich. As their traveling came to a halt beside the building, her thoughts wandered to the pork roast marinating in her refrigerator at home, then to whether or not she had enough cheese for her mashed potatoes....
    "...and this little monster, is called Jello." The Ranger, Adelaide, gestured towards a purple snot ball wiggling around on the ground. Gertrude stared at it in silent disgust as the Ranger went further into her introductory casualties. "... We'll start off by walking along the beach, unless you have questions before we go."
    Gertrude arched an eyebrow. "Get on with it already, my kidneys are failing." The eldest of the bunch grunted and looked to Grace.
    Another silent gag. "Why didn't I bring Teddy for his Sweet Scent?" Grace asked as she resisted the urge to smack her forehead. If smells could kill, Grace would've been dead by now. Gertrude, the other woman entering the park with Grace, seemed to relish in this scent. Grace thought about asking her if she needed a tooth brush or a spray of Grace's perfume or anything, but she was immediately halted from saying anything.
    "Now's not the time, Grace. You'll offend her and make this trip miserable," came the all-too-familiar booming voice of Grace's Alakazam. Though Alexander was still tucked away in one of Grace's few occupied Pokeballs, his psychic abilities were able to penetrate the capsule. Even when Grace tried to be without the Alakazam, his mind was always keeping tabs on her. And apparently reading her thoughts. "Besides, you're the one who wanted to do a double run with her."
    "That was before I knew what she was like! Ugh..." Grace mentally sighed. "I'll just walk a little faster, I guess." Alexander was silent, so Grace assumed that all was well. She started walking faster, making her steps a mix between a slight jog and a demented skip.
    "We better be almost there, midget," Grace heard from behind her. Gertrude's raspy voice seemed almost condemning, as if she was blaming Grace for the long walk.
    "I... I think we're almost here," Grace meekly replied. To be honest, Grace feared that she was lost. They had been walking in the humid area for what seemed like ages and still hadn't seen any signs of the Outpost. She had studied extensively the process in which she would greet her ranger, but she thought a small building would be around this area. Glancing down at her PokéTech, Grace noticed that the built-in map was almost entirely blank. The land here had been almost entirely uncharted, and the Silph Company had probably never been to the island, much less The Great Lakes. Regardless, one of the few things on the screen was an icon symbolizing the outpost. Thankfully, it was near.
    "Just around the corner!" Grace said. She continued her awkward fast-walk until she spotted a small building near the waterfront. She gave a brief smile before noticing that a young girl was siting on the deck. "That must be our ranger," Grace whispered to herself. She forged on towards the building and gave a smile as the girl stood up to greet her. Grace reached to shake the girl's already stretched hand, but the young woman pulled her hand back before they could introduce themselves.
    "Erm, let's eighty-six those handshakes for today, ladies. I have a cold," the ranger said, but Grace noticed that her nose seemed to shrivel as she spoke. Realizing that Gertrude was standing uncomfortably close to the ranger and radiating the same awful stench, Grace mouthed "I'm so sorry" so Gertrude couldn't see it.
    "Anyway, hi. I'm Ranger Adelaide Crowe, as you probably already know," Adelaide said. She also introduced her short and stubby Ditto, appropriately nicknamed Jello, which caused Grace to smile. She hadn't seen many Ditto in her travels through Johto, as they were exceedingly rare in the region. However, the gelatinous Pokémon were some of the most interesting to Grace, so she had learned as much as she could about them. They had the ability to transform into any Pokémon they see, which was one of the most unique and potentially useful abilities ever discovered.
    Grace snapped back from her slight zone-out to hear "...carry you across or in any of the Lakes. We'll start off by walking along the beach, unless you have questions before we go."
    "I think I'm okay," Grace said. "If it's allowed though, I would like to have my Alakazam out with me. He wouldn't be battling unless I asked him to, but I feel more comfortable with him around." She pulled out the Pokeball and prepared to toss it to the ground if Adelaide said it was okay. Regardless of her answer, Grace was ready to walk along the beach to meet some new Pokémon.
    "Get on with it already, my kidneys are failing," Gertrude said. Grace gave a slight smile, unsure if Gertrude was being serious or not.
    "Ready when you are!"
