“And that makes two,” Makina said, retrieving Krabby's Ball and placing it next to Basculin. “Tell me when you're ready to continue, we'll head out when you are ready.”

"How you holding up Bluestreak?" Clyde asked his Floatzel. "Still good for another battle if needed?" Floatzel pounded his fists together and growled, nodding his head. He still had a bunch of energy left in him so I knew he was good.

"Okay Makina, we are ready to continue." Clyde said to her. "Where shall we go now? Anywhere with Phione will be fine with me."

He simply nodded and set off down a path, expecting me to follow along, which I did. We wound our way around a few lakes, spotting quite a few Pokemon, but each of them disappeared into the murky waters soon as they spotted us. I scowled at them, but continued to walk along in silence.

We were just walking calmy, enjoying the scenary when a sudden blast of water knocked us both to our feet. I came up sputtering to see a Blastoise smiling wickedly at us, one of its guns dripping water.

“Want to battke this Pokemon,” Alex asked.

“Not even close,” I responded immediately. “I’m going to snap a picture instead.” I whipped out the camera and got a perfect snapshot of the trickster Pokemon. I would later hand it over to Alex at the end of the run.

“Not even close,” Garth said as soon as he got up. Both he and I were both drenched, but we could easily get d “I’m going to snap a picture instead.” He snapped a photo of the rude Blastoise and then held onto it. More than likely he would give it to me at the end of the run and I would pay him for it. Me personally, I wasn't into these pictures, but I knew Cameron and Leo like them for some reason. I wasn't sure why they were so into these pictures, but that didn't matter right now. The Blastoise suddenly turned away, showing its disinterest in us.

I just shrugged. "Okay, lets get out of here. We should dry off quickly, unless you'd rather get into the lake." However, before he could answer, I could see bubbles rising for the left side of the lake. I pointed it out to Garth and waited for whatever was underneath to surface. It took a while before anything came above water, but a Seismitoad finally showed its face. The large frog croaked loudly and stared lazily at us.

“Okay, let’s get out of here,”: Alex said , shrugging, not really caring about the Blastoise. “We should dry off quickly, unless you’d rather get in the lake.”

I was about to say Alex was correct when a gurgling sound caught my attention. We both turned to the lake waters to see a large frog-like Pokemon surface from the lake. I recognized it as a Seismitoad, a Water and Ground Pokemon known for its power stat and rarity. I had only seen one other trainer with one of the Pokemon.

I did want one, but I wasn’t willing to battle the evolved form of it, I wanted the Tympole. I turned to Alex. “I’m going to snap another picture of it, then I’ll have Rotom use its Hidden Power to dry our clothing.”

I still had the camera in my hand so I got another really good shot of another strong Pokemon. Next I pulled out the ball containing Rotom and had it use Hidden Power, which happened to be Fire typed. Our clothes dried instantly.

“I’m going to snap another picture of it, then I’ll have Rotom use its Hidden Power to dry our clothing.” I just nodded and shrugged and waited for him to snap the photo of Seismitoad. I guess I was wrong in calling it a frog when it was a toad. In my opinion, they are both the same, even though frogs are cooler than toads.

He snapped a photo then sent out his Rotom to dry us off. I thanked him for it, but I still would rather jump into the lake and take a nice swim. That sounded fun, at least right now it did. I just motioned for him to follow me as I continued to walk down the path. Wasn't much else to see, and I wasn't sure how much longer this run would last.

I saw a small Remoaid dart past us, I didn't know where the little fish was headed, but it was sure in a hurry. "Want to try and stop it?" I asked Garth. "You have to hurry before it gets away."

After talking to Bluestreak to see if the Floatzel was all right, Clyde nodded over at Makina. "Okay Makina, we are ready to continue." Clyde said to her. "Where shall we go now? Anywhere with Phione will be fine with me," he said.

“Fair enough,” Makina replied. Seeing that this particular section seemed to be practically devoid of wildlife for the moment, she began to direct Clyde east, where there was another saltwater section for them to explore. While that area contained water more suitable for those of much colder regions, perhaps there would be at least something not often seen in the Park.

As they reached the pools, a white, seal-like Pokemon slowly approached the small group. Clapping its flippers in greeting, the Ice-type looked over at Clyde to see what the Trainer would do.

“Care for a Seel?” Makina asked Clyde.

    @Bumblebee;

"Oh man, I gotta find a way to sleep past six, I can't keep doing this early morning crap," I said to myself, as I headed over to the coffee machine. I was so out of it, cause recently I had been having a lot of trouble sleeping in at all. I mean, I was getting up in the morning before the sunrise, and I didn't even need to be up all that early. Oh it was cruel indeed, but I guess everything happens for a reason. Since it was so early the other rangers were still asleep, or in the case of a few of them, just going to sleep. So as I was grabbing my coffee I noticed someone waiting to enter the park, and I figured I may as well take it since I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep.

"Okay Gardevoir, we've got some work to do again," I said, as she appeared from her ball.

Seems awful early for a job doesn't it?

"Yeah, but I've been having trouble getting a decent night sleep, so no harm in doing some work, and trying to lead someone through the park."

    Who are we taking?

"Uhh, good question, I'll check out their info when we get outside to wait for them."

We got outside, and so I took a seat along with Gardevoir on a conveniently placed bench, with coffee in one hand, and this trainers info in the other. It had ended up being Cameron, one of the members of that really large family of people, and someone I had led through the park before. It appeared as though he was heading to The Great Lakes again, no doubt continuing his families relentless search for a Phione. While looking at his Pokemon, and noticing the usually two his family members brought, namely Houndoom, and Gardevoir, I saw an extra Pokemon on there that made me spit out the coffee I had in my mouth when I noticed.

"Oh damn, he's bringing along Suicune with him..."

What? He owns a Legendary Pokemon?

"Apparently...wow, who would have thought that," I said as I sat here in amazement, and waited for Cameron to show up. I knew that he was more or less here for just a Phione, but I did wonder if he was looking for anything else too. I mean the Lakes were a pretty big place, filled with various Pokemon, so I'd need to make sure I asked once he arrived.

"Got everything squared away?" I asked Mindbender. Mindbender was Leo's second most used Pokemon, Shadow being his first. It didn't matter who was going on a run in our family, Shadow and Mindbender were always ones that we took into the park. Mainly because they just liked tagging along, but because they were actually useful, espeically that Mindbender. She was a Gardevoir and boy did she know a bunch of moves. She knew the most moves out of any Pokemon any of us even had. That was my opinion on why we brought her. Another was because she was an amazing telepath. We could easily communicate our orders to our Pokemon via mindlink and it would be private so the wild Pokemon we were battling wouldn't catch wind of what we were doing.

Cybershock was another of those Pokemon that we usually brought, mainly because he was crazy strong. He knew a good amount of moves and at least two status inflicting moves that would come in handy in capturing the Pokemon. I didn't use Cybershock as often as I would like to, so I was going to use him today. Suicune was the newest addition to my team. I wouldn't really say I captured Suicune, more of a partnership for the time being, although I could count on his assistance whenever I needed it.

"I believe everything is squared away." Mindbender replied after checking through all the supplies. "Since this is an endurance run, we won't need much supplies. I am ready to go whenever you are."

"As am I." Shadow said as he walked into my office. "I will be waiting out front."

"Oh really. You aren't going to complain about going to the lakes this time?" I asked him.

"No, I've grown to like it there, as least as much as a Fire type can like a water filled place." Shadow shrugged. "Doesn't bother me anymore."

"Okay." I nodded. "Glad you'll be okay then. Let's head on out."

    - walking to lake.

"Okay, we're here." I said, scouting the area for my Ranger. I finally found someone that looked like they could be my ranger, I knew this guy, he had taken me on a run before. His name was Gary."

"Hey," I said waving over towards him. "Looks like we'll be going together again. I am ready whenever you are."

    @Bumblebee;

I had been waiting about twenty or so minutes for Cameron to show up, seeing as how it had been so early after all, so I decided to enjoy a soft pretzel in the meantime. I didn't know how long we were actually going to be in The Great Lakes for, so it didn't hurt to have something to eat before hand. Just as I was finishing up my pretzel, and cup of coffee, Cameron had arrived on the scene. I thought that it was perfect timing, since I didn't have any distractions now.

"Hey," I said waving over towards him. "Looks like we'll be going together again. I am ready whenever you are," he said, as he came up to me.

"Hello Cameron. Hopefully we manage to find something you want today," I said laughing a little. It was fairly obvious he didn't want much of anything short of Phione, but hey I still needed to ask anyway since it was part of the job. Since the formalities were finished I begun to take Cameron into the park. The Great Lakes certainly were vast, and home to a lot of different Pokemon, though not just Water-types lived here, it just happened to be mostly Water-types. After walking along for about only three or so minutes we ran into something, and ironically it was something that wasn't a Water-type.

It was a dark blue, sort of frog-like Pokemon. It had white bands around its waist, which looked like bandages that are placed to cover up injuries such as hurt ribs. Its feet, and hands were black in color, and it had three fingers on each hand, with the middle one being red in color. It's cheeks were orange in color, and filled with poison. This would let the poison run down into its fingers, and so it could very easily poison anything it touches. Wasn't the best thing in the world I thought to myself when I looked over at Gardevoir, who had a four times advantage over this thing.

We were about to head off when Alex pointed out a darting shape in the water. I took a quick at it and saw that it was a Remoraid, s pretty small fish Pokemon that would evolve into Octerilly.

“Want to try and stop it?” Alex said. “You have to hurry before it gets away.”

“No, thanks,” I responded. I had already caught the Carvanha and Krabby, I was now looking for a couple of rare Pokemon. If I spotted somebody I really wanted though I would not hesitate to catch it. Normally, the Remoraid would have been on that list, but not today.

“Let’s get out of here, I have a Pokedoll if needed though."

"Hello Cameron. Hopefully we manage to find something you want today," He said laughing a little

“Yeah, I hope so man, honestly, I am tired of coming here already, but we are determined to get that Phione. So, yeah, let’s get started and see how it goes.” He nodded and began to take me through the park. We walked for a bit, maybe three minutes before we already came across something. It wasn’t a Phione, but it would be something I would capture, or at least attempt to. I looked over at the dark blue bipedal frog to examine it. It had white bands around its waist area that resemble bandages, like those that an injured fighter would wear. It had red and black markings on its hands and feet. The markings on its body make it look like a Muay Thai fighter, and its jutting teeth make it appear to be wearing a mouthguard. The black around its eyes made me laugh a bit because that wasn’t a black eye like it seemed, that was actually how it looked. The two orange cheek sacs were filled with a poison that runs to its fingers, allowing it to poison opponents by stabbing them, I would have to watch out for that.

"Do you happen to have any interest in a Croagunk?"

“Croagunk huh?” I said, pulling out my Pokedex.

Croagunk – the Toxic Mouth Pokémon. Croagunk are a dualed typed species, being both Fighting and Poison types, making them extremely vulnerable to Psychic types. They stand at about two to four feet tall and weigh between fifty and sixty pounds. They know the ability Anticipation and Dry Skin, some even knew Poison Touch. Croagunk are generally mischievous and mean. A few Croagunk, however are more comfortable being alone, simply staring at the views around them. Croagunk may also make noise by expanding its poison sacs. Croagunk live in moist areas close to bodies of water, such as swamps and marshes, or forests where there is very little light. However, as the mascot of Pastoria City, Croagunk can also be found in abundance there as well. Fluid squeezed from its finger, albeit poisonous, is a significant ingredient in remedies for lower-back pain. It rarely fights fairly, but that is strictly to ensure survival. The two white stripes that run across the female Croagunk's abdomen will be higher up than the male. The black part of the female's hands are also larger than that of the male's.

“Interesting, a dirty fighter. Also, he appears to be a male based on what this Pokedex tells me. What do you think guys?” I asked my team telepathically.

“I think this will be a fairly easy opponent. I can take him if you want.” Mindbender replied.

“Yeah, I know you can. I don’t want to risk you knocking him out though.” I said laughing.

“Statistically speaking… the chances of Croagunk winning against Mindbender are… less than five percent. Against Suicune, doesn’t stand a chance. Against Shadow and I… twenty five percent.”

“I can easily take him.” Shadow grumbled. “Let me at him.”

“If you want man, he is all yours. Thank you for that Cybershock, much appreciated.” I said to my cybernetic friend.

“Great!” Shadow barked happily. “He plays dirty, I can play that way too. Shall I use Super Fang?”

“Hmm, interesting choice, definitely dirty. Okay, use it.”
I said, nodding in agreement. Shadow jumped in front of me and began snarling and snapping at Croagrunk. As he charged at it, his fangs grew significantly larger. He was going to sink them into Croagunk, which almost usually made the opponent lose half health. Shadow was at a disadvantage here since Croagunk was a Fighting type and could also use Water type attacks, but Shadow sure loved a challenge, so he wasn’t backing down or letting that disadvantage bring him down. He was good at that.

I couldn’t do anything now but sit back and watch him work. Shadow was always focused when battling, he didn’t let anything distract him. The only thing he was listening too was my command. I liked how focus he became, it was great in battles. Most of my Pokémon had this sort of focus, but Shadow had them all beat, I guess it was because I’d known him the longest. Either way, the battle had now started.

“No, thanks,” He responded. I wasn't sure if he wanted it or not, but I also wasn't sure if we'd come across anything else interesting. This time of day, most, if not all stuff would be crappy. I just shrugged, hopefully he would find something he liked.

“Let’s get out of here, I have a Pokedoll if needed though." I didn't think we would need it, but to my surprise the Remoraid stopped in its tracks and stared at us. Wasn't sure exactly what it was thinking or why it stopped, but it now appeared to want a battle. This was indeed a strange Pokemon. One moment its running away to get somewhere at full speed, the next it is slowed down and wanting a battle. It obviously didn't make up its mind. I knew Garth didn't want to waste time with it, so I took the doll from him and tossed it at the Jet Pokemon.

The Pokemon took the doll and darted off in the direction it was headed. The Remoraid ran straight into a Wooper, but didn't even stop to apologize. Wooper just looked angrily from the darting Wooper and over towards Garth. It looked pretty angry and it looked like it wanted to take it out on us, which wasn't fair, but if Garth wanted to capture this Pokemon, it being angry was actually an advantage. That meant that this Pokemon might not be totally focused, which was good for hi,

"Want to try and capture this Wooper or try to evade it?" I asked him.

“Croagunk huh?” Cameron said, or perhaps asked himself. He ended up pulling out his Pokedex to look up information on this thing. That was weird, because with how frequently his family seemed to visit the park I would have figured he would have known all about a Croagunk, especially since they weren't that rare. I was curious what Pokemon he would end up using, provided he battled it. I'm sure he knew that it was incredibly weak to Gardevoir, so that might be a bit much, and at the same time his Porygon-Z was weak to it, as was Houndoom. There was always Suicune, but I was relatively certain that that one would be a bit of an overkill. So I guess that really did just leave his Porygon, and Houndoom then.

Cameron seemed to go into a mental discussion with his team, no doubt trying to figure out which Pokemon would be best in this situation to battle. I had an idea as to which one he would pick, though I wasn't really all that certain. I mean maybe he would just pick Gardevoir, and have it do very weak attacks since he knew it could really lose to a Croagunk. Didn't seem to be much longer before he made a decision, since his Houndoom went forward to battle. This was certainly an interesting choice, since it didn't exactly have the greatest defense under its belt, and since it was weak to Fighting-type moves, but it was Cameron's starter, and he sending in a Pokemon against an opponent who it wasn't exactly typed perfectly against made a battle more interesting.

Cameron seemed to give his Houndoom a glance, like it already knew what it was going to do. They must have communicated telepathically since I never heard any commands being said. I could see it was going to be one of those battles. The kind where I had no clue what was happening, until it actually happened. Houndoom charged at Croagunk, and opened up its mouth wide, wider than most attacks call for. When it reached its foe to large chomp out of it, and if I didn't know any better I would have thought it was going to split in two. That wasn't shocking though, since this attack appeared to be Super Fang. A move that didn't exactly deal damage persay, but would instead cut the opponents health in half. It was a good move to use on something you couldn't do much damage to, or something that had a lot of health. It was generally seen being used by Crobat since they could generally take any hit thrown their way in the process, but that didn't mean that other Pokemon couldn't use it.

Croagunk didn't take too kindly to being chewed at though. I mean the pain from this sort of attack had to be incredible when it hit you while you were at full health. In retaliation to this it threw its right arm up in the air, and struck Houndoom directly across the back with the side of its hand. Croagunk had used Brick Break, your standard Fighting-type move where the user would chop at the foe, and in the process destroy the barriers Light Screen, and Reflect. Houndoom may have been tough, but a direct attack like that one was bound to do some serious damage. It backed away, and took a few seconds to shake off the damage, while on the other side Croagunk was already starting to get a little short on breath. The battle only just started, and it already seemed half over.

    @Ebail

The Croagunk responded better than I had though. I was expecting some sort of trickery or nonsense move like Flatter. Fortunately for us, all he used was Brick Break. That was a super effective move, which under normal circumstances would have done a whole lot more, especially at point blank range, however, luckily for us, it only did minimum damage. Shadow staggered back a little to recover from the blow, but it was nothing that was serious or life-threatening. In fact, it was better than I thought. I wasn’t too sure on what to do now.

Croagunk was a Poison type and a Fighting type. Shadow didn’t really have many moves to use against a type like that. His Fire type and Dark type moves were strong, but they weren’t super effective. I wasn’t sure he had any move that was super effective against Croagunk. We were going to have to improvise this and just whither down his health until it was prime for capture. Had I used Mindbender, the Gardevoir, this battle would have been over already and two likely outcomes would have taken place. One, we would have captured Croagunk successfully and moved on already. Or two, she would have accidently overestimated the health on Croagunk and knock it out. Then I would have to be forced to not capture it and help it get revived. Reviving it doesn’t mean I can battle it again, but it was still the nice thing to do. Let it regain its strength and hopefully it would come my way again.

I took a look at the Pokedex again to see what else I could gather, when I remembered something. Croagunk here had the ability Dry Skin. Dry Skin made Water type attacks do almost nothing to Croagunk, in fact they for the most part almost always healed him. On the other hand, Fire type attacks did pretty much double damage, which was extremely good for us since Shadow was a Fire type and excelled in using them.

“Alright, your next move will be one you are good at with.” I said to him. “Use Flamethrower! That should do the damage we need to finish him off.”

“Well, that guarantees him at least one more attack.” Shadow said.

“Hey may be too tired to react, but you’re right.” I said as I began to think. “I guess try to stop it with Will-o-Wisp first before you proceed with Flamethrower.”

“Yeah! Now that sounds more like a plan.” Shadow said grinning. Then he began his assault. He quickly formed several bluish white orbs around his mouth area. The orbs would dance around his head until he launched them at Croagunk. The orbs would one by one be shot at Croagunk and when they hit, the frog Pokémon would be engulfed in the bluish white flames, instantly burning it. That would also cause his physical attack to drop significantly, which was good for us.

Then he would use regular fire to finish the job and get Croagunk to a good enough health for me to capture. The Flamethrower would just be a stream of reddish orange flames that would shoot out of his mouth and scorch the Fighting frog all over. I would then throw my Parkball. I got the Parkball out of my bag and enlarged it, I was going to throw it once those two attacks hit.

To my surprise, the Remoraid stopped what it was doing and started to approach us, staring avidly. With a sigh I retrieved a Pokedoll and handed it wordlessly over to Alex, he would know what to do with it.

Alex tossed the toy at Remoraid, who quickly seized it and whisked the doll away in the direction it was heading to before we came along. In its hurry to get somewhere the Remoraid careened into a Wooper passing by. Not even giving the Wooper an apology, the Jet Pokemon was soon gone. The Wooper picked itself up and approached us, chattering in an angry tone.

“Want to try and capture this Wooper or try to evade it?” Alex said.

“Nope, let’s get out of here.” Once again I pulled out another doll just incase.

“Nope, let’s get out of here.” He said, pulling out another doll. The Wooper just walked past us, still muttering angrily. I guess it was too mad to care to stop to battle us. Lucky for Garth because if not he would have just wasted another doll. They were cheap, but still costed money to buy. Once Wooper was out of sight, we continued walking again. I didn't know what else to do. He didn't want to go up to the mountains yet, which now, honestly I wasn't thinking was a good idea. I didn't think there would be anything of interest there anymore.

For now we would just stick here in the lakes, hoping we run into something more interesting. I looked around to try and find a Pokemon for him to battle, but everything appeared to be in a rush today. I wasn't even sure what today even was, so I had no idea what they were running from... or towards. Still, there had to be something Garth was interested in.

We stopped to rest for a bit by the lake. I knew neither of us were tired yet, but there was no sense in continuing to walk around, the Pokemon could come to us. As I had thought, less than a few minutes later a small baby turtle came waddling our way.

"Haha, its a baby Squirtle. Doubt you'll want anything this young?" I said to him, making it sound like a question.

Unlike the Remoraid, the little Wooper decided we weren’t worth the hassle to battle. I continued pass us, muttering under its breath and scowling at every living thing. The Remoraid had clearly ruined its day.

With the little Wooper now gone we just decided to continue walking, hopefully to find any Pokemon that passed by. Sadly the Pokemon we did spot were interested in battling or allowing us even a chance to go near them. They all seemed to be pretty busy with doing something else, all rushing some place.

Eventually Alex decided we should just take a break for a little bit and see what happened. So we settled for a shaded spot by one of the lakes. We hadn’t been there long when a Squirtle strolled up to us.

"Haha, its a baby Squirtle. Doubt you'll want anything this young?" Alex asked.

“No thanks, didn’t go for the Blastoise, so I don’t want to battle this one either. Let’s see if it passes along, otherwise give it a Pokedoll.

    @Bumblebee;

Cameron once again took out his Pokedex, and looked up some more info on Croagunk. This time he happened to be looking up about its abilities, based on what I was able to notice. The one most notable to standout from its abilities here was Dry Skin. This made a Pokemon with the ability regain some health while in the rain, and also when they are hit by a Water-type move. On the flip side of things though they would be damaged while the sun was shinning, and also if a Fire-type move hit a Pokemon with it, then it would do some extra damage. Provided this Croagunk had Dry Skin, Cameron was in a good position right now since he was using Houndoom, a Fire-type Pokemon.

Cameron had another conference with Houndoom it seemed, no doubt trying to figure out what would be best to use right now. Wish he would speak out loud, that way I knew what was going to happen. I didn't feel like having Gardevoir list in on their conversation, so I was stuck being clueless. Oh well so be it, I was bound to find out what he was planning sooner or later, since Houndoom was bound to attack eventually. I saw Cameron grin, and nod, and so at that point I knew things were about to pick up once again.

Houndoom opened up its mouth wide, and started to release a Fire-type move, though it wasn't one that was meant for dealing damage. Rather it was a move specifically intended for causing a burn, which would slowly drain the opposing Pokemon's health, as well as cut their attack in half. It had been using Will-o-Wisp. It released a few bluish-white balls of flames in this process at Croagunk. Despite this move coming though, Croagunk didn't try to evade it, but rather it ran right into the flames, and allowed itself to become burned. I don't believe this was because it enjoyed pain, but rather it was because it wanted to try to land an attack once more.

Although Croagunk was now burned it still made it a point to at least do something. Its fist started to glow an unusual shade of purple, and it threw its fist right into Houndoom's face. The punch connected, though not nearly as powerful as it could have been now, and sent the Pokemon into the ground. It had used Poison Jab, a move where the user punches the foe with a fist filled with poison, making it very easy to poison to foe as you might imagine. Houndoom got back up though, and it didn't look poisoned, or even all that hurt.

It went onto the second phase of Cameron's plan. He opened his mouth wide, and shot out a wave of flames at his foe. It was using Flamethrower, the standard Fire-type move you'd see most Pokemon using. The flames hit Croagunk head on, and seemed to mix with the ones that were already there from Will-o-wisp thus speeding up the process of the burn, and damaging Croagunk a bit sooner.

Cameron knew this was his chance, and so he pulled out a standard Park Ball from his bag, and threw it as his foe. Although there was some resistance, it was all rather futile in the end. "Good going Cameron. It's always good to start a run off by capturing a Pokemon," I said as I walked over to the ball. "Let's get moving whenever you're ready."
