“That will not be necessary, Ludicolo, get that thing away from the young ones.” Garth said as he pulled out a Pokedoll. Stunfisk took this as a challenge and shot a fast, strong Thunderbolt at Ludicolo. Seaspray had already anticipated this and quickly darted in front of Ludicolo. She wasn't going to stupidly take the attack, no, she was going to send it right back with double the power. Granted, it wasn't going to do much because Stunfisk was a ground type, but she could easily defeat this Pokemon. Thunderbolt bounced off her body and went straight back to Stunfisk. She quickly countered with a Hydro Pump attack that sent Stunfisk flying in the distance.

"Looks like he won't be bothering you guys anymore. Seaspray, can you escort these little guys back to the daycare?" I asked her. "I'll meet you near the mountains afterwards." Seaspray nodded and gathered the little Pokemon up and led them back to the daycare that was run by Octillery and Tentacruel.

"Okay, good thing Keldo came and got us, who knows what that Stunfisk would have done." I said to Garth. Keldo, like us Rangers aren't normally allowed to interfere with what goes on here in the wildlife. It is some stupid park rule, legendary Pokemon have their own set of rules. We can only interfere if poachers come along or something along those lines, but I still help out any Pokemon when I see that they need it."

"Keldo!" The small horse like Pokemon said, then galloped away.

"He said thank you." I informed Garth. "So where shall we head now?" I asked him. "I am not sure what you're here after. Mountains have some good strong Pokemon, but the lake down this path has some interesting Pokemon." Then, I heard a splash behind me and saw small little piranha like Pokemon. It was blue and orange with a yellow stripe on the top of its head.

"Hold that thought, there is a Carvanha there." I said to Garth. "Interested?"

"Na, let's try to avoid it." Clyde replied back to Makina. "I'd rather not have to battle it.”

Makina nodded in response, and pointed over to a slightly smaller lake off to their right. It was a fair distance away, roughly two hundred feet, so with any luck they would not be confronted by the Jellicent. When they were just about at the halfway point, the Floating Pokemon rose fully from the water, looking about. While it did look over at the group with slight interest, the wild Pokemon appeared to be content with staying in the water for now.

As they reached the second body of water, Makina searched about for a marker that would easily tell them whether or not this was another saltwater lake. While she could easily deduce that by simply testing the water, each lake was supposed to be clearly marked regardless to save time. After a moment of looking along the shore, she discovered a sea-green marker, half buried in the sand.

“Just for future reference in case you return here in the near future,” Makina said to Clyde, pointing out the marker. “We try to mark all the freshwater lakes with a blue marker, and all the ones containing saltwater with a green one.”

The water in front of them began to ripple as something began to approach the surface, and soon a heart-shaped form broke free from the water, leaping into the air before submerging once more. While there were two known Pokemon that fit this description, the frills adorning this creature's body easily separated it from its similar, Hoenn-native cousin.

“And here is your next encounter it seems. Interested in an Alomomola?”

“And here is your next encounter it seems. Interested in an Alomomola?” Makina asked me.

"Hmm, it is an interesting pokemon, I have one already. I wouldn't mind having another, but I don't really want to capture this right now. Phione is my top priority. If you know where any are, can you lead the way? I need to find one for my friend." I looked around to see the area around me. I didn't see any interesting Pokemon around."

I pulled out a Pokedoll and readied myself to toss it at the Alomomola. I wasn't too interested in capturing it, but would have liked too had I known anyone that wanted one. I wasn't sure what else I would run into, but I hoped that I at least ran into a Phione or something else that I didn't have or was interesting enough for me to want to capture.

Ludicolo stepped forward boldly to face the Stunfisk, but the little jerk must have been waiting for that to happen. It’s small Pink body immediately started to glow yellow as it built up another powerful charge.

Without warning it shot a Thunderbolt at Ludicolo, and with only a short distance between the two Ludicolo didn’t have time to react. Luckily for him Alex’s Milotic had already been moving. Her sinuous body easily intercepted the attack, which simply bounced off and headed straight for Stunfisk who used it.

It was one of Milotic’s trade marked moves, Mirror Coat. It would deal double damage to the bully, not knocking it out, but still doing a nice amount of damage. Sadly for Stunfisk the Milotic wasn’t done with punishing it for its crimes. From her mouth shot a powerful jet of water that easily engulfed the Pokemon and sent it flying back.

Alex turned to his Pokemon. “Looks like he won’t be bothering you guys anymore. Seaspray, can you escort these little guys back to the daycare?,” he said to his Pokemon. “I’ll meet you near the mountains afterwards.” The Milotic nodded her head and proceeded to scoop the little Pokemon up with her tail. He turned to me next to explain. “Okay, good thing Keldo came and got us, who knows what that Stunfisk would have done. Keldo, like us rangers, aren’t normally allowed to interfere with what goes on here in the wildlife. It is some stupid park rule, legendary Pokemon have their own set of rules. We can only interfere if poachers come along or something along those lines, but I still help out any Pokemon when I see that they need it.”

“As would I,” I said vehemently, snapping a picture of the Keldo while it was still around. The Keldo made a noise at Alex then galloped off.

“He said thank you. So where shall we head now?” he questioned. “I’m not sure what you’re here after. Mountains have some good strong Pokemon, but the lake down this has some interesting Pokemon.” A loud splash in a nearby lake caught his attention. We both turned to see a blue and orange Pokemon playing in the water. “Hold that thought, there is a Carvanha there. Interested.”

It took me a minute to thing about this. Carvanha wasn’t one of the Pokemon I had come seeking, but it was one I had been considering before about getting. It wasn’t as especially powerful Water type Pokemon, but it did have a few advantages. One of which was its dual type of Dark, a somewhat rare species known for its advantage over the powerful Psychic Pokemon. My current lineup only had three Dark types, Drapion, Houndoom, Tyranitar, and Krookodile. None of those Pokemon had I devoted extensive training to, yet. But a Sharpedo I could train and possible add to my gym for some extra firepower.

Besides its Dark type it did have some really good Abilities that it knew. One of those abilities was Rough Skin, one that did damage every time the Pokemon was hit by a Physical attack. While not especially useful, if facing a physical sweeper in a battle that sort of damage could add up. It’s second ability was more attractive to me, Speed Boost. Not many Pokemon knew the rare ability. The advantage of Speed Boost was that it raised the user’s speed every few moments, something really useful in battle.

Also, the Pokemon had a high attack stat, something few Water Pokemon matched. Water Pokemon as a generalization tended to be special sweepers with high special attack. Pokemon like Swampert, Feraliagatr, and Gyarados were some of whom who could use high physical moves. I currently had both Swampert and Gyarados in my gym, but I was considering replacing Gyarados with something else because Gyarados had a four times weakness to Electric attacks, which a good number of Pokemon could learn.

The only downside I could see with using Sharpedo over Gyarados was the fact that Sharpedo couldn’t raise its attack easily like Gyarados were known to with the move Dragon Dance. But Sharpedo did possess the move known as Super Fang, one that reduced the total health of a Pokemon by fifty percent, a hefty number if they came in with full health.

I weighed the options and decided I could at least catch the Carvanha and give it a chance. If it didn’t work out I still had my Gyarados and I wanted every Water Pokemon so it was win situation no matter what happened.

I just had to pick a Pokemon to use for the battle. I was leaning towards Toxicroak, but since it had just battled I didn’t want to use her again. Ludicolo was also a good choice, but I wanted to save him for tougher encounters. Alakazam was immediately out because it was weak to Dark types attacks. That left Rotom-Wash as my only choice. I immediately sent out the rare Water-Electric Pokemon.

I didn’t know what ability the Carvanha would know, but I knew how to counter each one easily enough. Since Speed Boost was the deadlier of the two I decided to target that ability first. Once that was dealt with I could use a couple of other moves to dampen the Pokemon.

“Tear Drop, I want you to start this battle off with your Thunder Wave attack. Follow that up with your Reflect move and strike back with a Discharge move!”

I had ordered a series of three moves for the Rotom to accomplish, but I was confident the Pokemon would be able to make them work easily enough. My first move would take care of the Speed Boost ability. Thunder Wave was an Electric attack that would paralyze the target Pokemon, causing it to lose both speed and it would randomly cause the Pokemon to move thanks to the electricity coursing through its system.

My next move, Reflect, would cut the damage of all physical moves by Carvanha in half. Since Carvanha had higher attack than special attack this was a no brainer for me, I didn’t want any of my Pokemon to sustain unnecessary damage during battle.

I had chosen Discharge just to do damage to the Carvanha, I felt it was the middle option between Rotom’s strongest and weakest electric attacks. Any more power than that and I risked KOing the Pokemon outright, that was the power behind Rotom.

For these moves to work I knew that Rotom would have to concentrate on the Thunder Wave and Reflect first. It couldn’t charge two different Electrical attacks at once, but it could do other moves along with an electric attack. Rotom would start the Thunder Wave by using his blue energy arms to channel the electricity for the Thunder Wave, while at the same time preparing up the Reflect, an invisible energy barrier. From there it would fire the Discharge.

"Hmm, it is an interesting Pokemon, I have one already. I wouldn't mind having another, but I don't really want to capture this right now,” Clyde said, turning away from the Alomomola. “Phione is my top priority. If you know where any are, can you lead the way? I need to find one for my friend.”

That's sort of the reason I've been trying to guide you to the saltwater lakes,
Makina wanted to reply back, but simply nodded in response, leading them away from the large pink Pokemon. Fortunately, Alomomola appeared to get the hint; it leaped one final time in the air to give a farewell wave with one of its frills before diving out of sight.

<I don't sense any Phione in the immediate area,> Aria remarked to her partner, though there was a slight uneasiness in her mental voice. <it's strange, but it feels like something is trying to block my search. Another psychic power?>

It may be Phione or even a Manaphy doing so, but I don't think they possess telepathic powers, Makina replied. Still, they may be trying to hide something important. Can you lead us to it?

Aria nodded, and motioned for the rest of the group to follow her. They passed several lakes along the way, their residents either hiding out of sight or still asleep for none appeared to greet them. Finally, a large body of water loomed in front of them, covered in mist that seemed restricted to the lake alone for the moment. In the shallows, a light blue creature with webbed limbs and a beak was busy shooting water at a nearby flying Pokemon, the latter easily bobbing back and forth to avoid the spray.

As they approached, both Pokemon ceased their playing about and looked over at Clyde, unsure what to do next now that their antics were over for the moment.

“Looks like you have two Pokemon interested in you now. Care for a Golduck or Wingull?”

"No, not interested in capturing either of those. Though a Psyduck would be good. The person I am obtaining these for wants them in basic form. They feel that they need to train it themselves from when they are in a basic form. The method he uses are quite successful as his Pokemon are crazy strong, especially the ones in his Water Gym." Clyde said to Makina. "But yeah, neither of those. Let's move on then, shall we. Here is a doll incase these two are persistent in battling me." I held the doll in my hand and waited for my lady to continue escorting me.

It took him a while to decide. I wasn't sure if he would go for it at first, but it was an interesting Pokemon and it would be cool to capture so I had a feeling he would go for it. I wondered what Pokemon he would use to battle this Pokemon with. Looking at his chart, his Ludicolo or Rotom were the best bets.

“Tear Drop, I want you to start this battle off with your Thunder Wave attack. Follow that up with your Reflect move and strike back with a Discharge move!” Garth said to his Pokemon. Rotom was quite the Pokemon. It's primary type was Electric, but it could also apply itself to household appliances such as fridges, washers, ovens, fans, or lawn mowers, to become Ice, Water, Fire, Flying, or Grass types, and those were only the known ones.

His Rotom was currently in the Water form, which was a good type to be here, that or Grass. Rotom immediately launch a greenish blue ball of electricity that would instantly paralyze the opponent when it made contact. The opponent then had a small chance of not being able to move for a while, which was an extremely horrible feeling. If this Carvanga was a speed booster though, that would be a great move to use as the speed it gained wouldn't mean anything.

Reflect only lessened the damage that one would take from any Physical moves. Carvanha had great attack stat, it could do some good damage with it, so Reflect was also a nice choice. However, before Rotom could do anything else, Carvanha took off and slammed into Rotom with Aqua Jet that was combined with Take Down, the attack itself didn't do much, but combined it did a decent amount of damage, at least decent enough with Reflect up.

Rotom quickly recovered and sent off an electrical discharge into Carvanha body. The poor little guy cringed in pain, there was no way he could hold his own against Garth's Rotom. His determination though was noted.

“No, not interested in capturing either of those. Though a Psyduck would be good. The person I am obtaining these for wants them in basic form. They feel that they need to train it themselves from when they are in a basic form. The method he uses are quite successful as his Pokemon are crazy strong, especially the ones in his Water Gym,” Clyde said, explaining his reason for wanting to leave as quickly as possible.

Makina gave a knowing nod in response. While most Trainers would be content with capturing an already evolved Pokemon, a small group preferred to capture the Basic stages instead, raising them from a young age to be come more powerful later on. It was a lengthy process, but one that was quickly catching on to others. With that, she stepped away from the pond, motioning for everyone to be quiet and they sneaked away.

Still, the Golduck seemed more interested in them, looking straight at Aria before wading over to the group with Wingull flying closely behind. As they approached, Clyde quickly tossed a Pokedoll over at the two, causing the wild Pokemon to focus on the toy instead. As they argued over who was to play with the Doll first, the group managed to slink away.

<Looks like it was Golduck that was causing the interference by making that mist,> Aria replied a little sheepishly. <It's gone now, but I still don't sense anything close.>

Let's just stick with looking around then, Makina responded, but a loud splash from a pond to their left cut off the rest of her thought. As she walked over to investigate, a fish with equal blue and red colors had their head out of the water, glaring menacingly over at Shadow.

“Dark Pokemon seem to be attracted to each other it seems. How about a Carvanha?”

"I just caught a Carvanha two days ago. I would totally go for it had I not already had a Sharpedo plus the Carvanha I just caught." Clude said to Makina. "I know these Pokemon are somewhat savages, so lets try to avoid this Pokemon. I'd rather not have to battle it. However, since Pokemon usually don't want to leave me alone, I'll have this doll ready to throw at it and then we can take off for that damn Phione." Clyde had a bad feeling that one wasn't coming today. He wasn't giving up though, he really wanted that cash prize, and he knew he wasn't the only one to take on this offer to capture Phione for the money.

“I just caught a Carvanha two days ago. I'd rather not have to battle it. However, since Pokemon usually don't want to leave me alone, I'll have this doll ready to throw at it and then we can take off for that damn Phione.”

Makina nodded knowingly in response, finally understanding Clyde's aversion to all save a few select Pokemon. Not only was the Trainer trying to capture Pokemon for other people, he was a collector as well. While she could never see the reasoning behind capturing every single Pokemon found in the world, she could appreciate their dedication so long as they did so legally. Far too many poachers made their trade by selling to collectors who had no desire to play by the books, after all, and most ended up breaking into the Park due to the diverse wildlife here.

Fortunately, Carvanha seemed to have no desire in taunting Shadow into coming closer. After one final look back, the Water-type dived back into the water. Apparently it was far more more bark than bite, or was just lazy.

Makina led the group forward, walking along the sandy bar that split off the lakes into separate zones. While it did seem like most of the bodies of water they were passing now were saltwater, they were still strangely free of Pokemon willing to battle. Before she could suggest to Clyde that they should choose a new area to explore, a land-bound red Pokemon side-walked over to them, clacking its pinchers to get their attention.

“Did you want a Krabby, by any chance?”

Thankfully, the Carvanha didn’t feel the need to annoy Clyde further and just swam away. He wished all Pokémon were like that and just left him alone with he didn’t feel like battling them. He remembered back at this one time where a Skitty didn’t want to leave him. It kept insisting on a damn battle and continuously kept launched attacks at him to try and force him to battle. Clyde, although he felt bad afterwards, had Mixmaster, his Conkledurr kick Skitty across the field and then they took a run for it. Clyde wasn’t sure what had happened to the Skitty, all he knew was that he never saw it again that day. However, he did hear that the Skitty had been searching for him that day, but luckily for him, never found them.

Makina led them forward, walking along the sandy bar that split off the lakes into separate zones. Before she could say anything else though, something interesting came our way. It was the crap, Krabby. Krabby's top half is a hard shell that is orange in color, with two protrusions atop it. The lower half of its body is cream-colored, with fang-like protrusions below the mouth; Krabby's four legs and two arms are also cream-colored. Krabby has a pair of large pincers that it uses as powerful weapons or for balance purposes when it walks sideways.

“Did you want a Krabby, by any chance?” She asked. I was indeed interested in capturing this Pokémon, but I decided to get some information on it first.

Krabby – the River Crab Pokémon. Krabby is a small Pokémon that stands at about one to two feet tall and weighs between ten to twenty pounds. It knows the ability Hyper Cutter, Shell Armor and Sheer Force. If a Krabby loses a pincer in battle, it will completely grow back in a short period of time. On beaches where food is hard to come by, Krabby can be seen squabbling with each other over territory. When Krabby sense imminent danger, they will cloak themselves with bubbles from its mouth in an attempt at looking bigger and more intimidating. Krabby are known as scavengers and feed on whatever debris they happen upon in their environment. If food is too scarce, Krabby will also eat mouthfuls of sand to obtain nutrients.

“Alright, so which one of you wants to battle?” Clyde asked his partners telepathically through Mindbender’s mindlink.

“Uhh, I don’t want to battle that thing.” Shadow said as he moved towards the nearest tree and sat underneath it to fall asleep.

“I suppose I could, but I just battled. Bluestreak or Smokescreen probably want to battle. If not then I will again I guess.”

“Yeah…, I want to battle something stronger.” Smokescreen said, “When is something strong coming our way?”

“Damn, I wish I knew, all we keep running across is crap. We haven’t come across anything strong yet. If we do, it will probably be something I don’t want to battle against.”

“Ugh, I guess I will battle this damn thing.” Bluestreak said. “Probably the only other good thing you’ll find today man. If so, then there will be no other battles and I would rather have battled at least once, even if it is against something weak like this dude.”

“Alright, you’re up Bluestreak. Just don’t hurt him too much.” Clyde said.

“Haha, no promises there.” Bluestreak said as he flashed out of his Pokeball and dove into the water.

“Get out of there, fight it on land.” Clyde said, laughing in his head. “Use Bulk Up, then follow it up with Brick Break.”

Bluestreak began to flex his muscles and began powering up his attack and defense stats. Once that was raised, he would charge towards Krabby at full speed and slam his fist down hard into the Krabby, hopefully doing some good damage and not weak shit. I knew Bluestreak and his species were known for their incredibly fast speed.

I knew this battle wouldn’t last long, Krabby was a basic Pokémon and not anywhere near as strong as Bluestreak was, but it was still a good warm up for Bluestreak. He needed his exercise and this was a good way to do that. I wasn’t expecting Brick Break to do a crazy lot, but decent would be enough for me to be satisfied with.

Clyde did not respond, though he had pulled out his Pokedex once more. A light shot out from the device to hit the Krabby, and a robotic voice went over the basic information known about the creature. Since he had only done this once before with Basculin, Makina figured that this was proof enough that Clyde wished to battle this time around.

Shadow, seeing his Trainer prepare for battle, slinked over to a tree providing shade for a nearby lake and lay down, clearly wanting to stay out of this conflict. This was a good move on the Houndoom's part; with the path being more water than land, the Fire-type was at a serious disadvantage.

After a moment of silence, Clyde called out another one of his Pokemon, and the white light headed straight for the water, diving in before it fully materialized. A short reprimand from the Trainer later, and the otter-like form of a Floatzel hopped back on land, looking over at Krabby.

While Clyde said nothing out loud, the Floatzel immediately began to flex in place. Soon a red aura began to surround the creature, and the Water-type appeared to be both sturdier and more powerful.

Odd, no command was given. Makina frowned, and turned to Aria for an explanation. Floatzel had no form of telepathy, so it was strange that Clyde was able to still silently give commands.

<He's still using Mindbender as a link between his Pokemon.> the Gardevoir responded, shaking her head. <It seems like such a waste of energy, but to each their own. I can relay the moves back to you, if you wish.>

    Please and thank you,
Makina responded somewhat distractedly. She was searching through her PDA for the Floatzel's moves, finally locating them under the name “Bluestreak”. According to the list, the Pokemon had a wide array of added moves- this would be an interesting fight indeed.

Krabby, not to be outdone, began to boost its stats as well. Crab-walking to a small rock jutting out of the sand, the wild Pokemon began to furiously work its pincers across the object, sharpening the limbs and honing its attack.

Bluestreak let out a bark that almost sounded like laughter when he saw Krabby's display, then dashed over to the River Crab Pokemon to land a quick judo chop on the creature's head, right between the two protrusions. This was Brick Break, a Fighting-type move that did decent damage as well as broke any barriers currently in place. Since Krabby had set up no such defenses, the move did full damage.

In return, Krabby quickly backed up to avoid another karate chop, then rammed its body right at Bluestreak's midsection. The move winded the Floatzel, causing him to stumble but managing to stay on his feet. Due to the difference in mass between the two, Bluestreak only took minimal damage.

    ----

Upon hearing my commands Rotom had already began to build up the charge for the Thunder Wave, channeling the energy through his bright blue, energy limbs. The arms turned a brighter blue than normal after a few seconds, signs that the attack was ready. Due to Rotom being mainly Electricity it could charge any electric attack in only a few short moments, even the most powerful ones took no more than seven seconds. Thunder Wave was an easy attack and took only a couple seconds to charge.

Rotom fired off the Thunder Wave, which came off in the form of a blue wave of energy. Forming a half circle just above ground-level, the attack rippled toward the Carvanha. As the attack connected with the small fish Rotom began to build up the Reflect move.

Rotom wasn’t a Psychic Pokemon, but many Pokemon had some Psychic capabilities, Rotom included. Rotom only needed a few seconds to focus on creating the Psychic wall of energy. The Thunder Wave kept the fish occupied enough that Rotom was able to get off the Reflect before the Carvanha could responded in kind.

Just as the barrier was finished being put up and before Rotom could prepare the final attack I had ordered the Carvanha launched itself from the water at Rotom. Using a stream of water to make itself faster, the Carvanha slammed into the Reflect, losing some of its power getting past it, but still connecting with Rotom.

Rotom floated back a few inches from the force of the attack, but quickly recovered its bearings, it hadn’t sustained that much damage from the attack, thanks to the barrier.

As the Water and Dark type Pokemon bounced back into the rushing water, Rotom started to prepare the Discharge. Because I had guided Rotom towards it wash form, it closely resembled a living washing machine, only orange and blue with a spike on its head. The middle of Rotom, where the door to the machine would have been, began to spin as Rotom charged the Discharge attack. As it built up the power needed, Rotom aimed its hose-like appendage at the form of Carvanha and fired the attack. Discharge shot from the hose like a very bright ball of yellow energy. Carvanha didn’t have time to Dodge the attack and was hit by the full force of the blow, sending more waves of electric energy coursing through it body.

Carvanha had took some hits during that exchange, but it wasn’t out of the fight yet and could still do a good amount of damage if I let it. Reflect helped Rotom, but I still possessed a few moves that could further hinder the Carvanha. One such move was Will o Wisp attack, a Fire typed attack that gave the burn status to the opposing Pokemon. Burn was very useful because it did damage and also cut any physical moves in half. That combined with the Reflect would shatter any physical attacks Carvanha threw at Rotom. The problem was that Carvanha was already paralyzed and in a body of water, meaning the WoW had a small chance of working. I threw that option out the door.

Another choice was the Light Screen, to provide protection against any special attacks the Carvanha decided to throw my way. Light Screen was a tempting choice, but any special attacks Carvanha used on Rotom just wouldn’t do a lot of damage.

I could use an attack like Confuse Ray, but once again the benefits weren’t really enough for me to use it, it would just prolong the battle without necessary letting the Carvanha smacking itself from being confused.

With that in mind I decided to opt for a more powerful Electric attack. I figured the Carvanha to be over half health, it still had a good amount of vigor left. With a good chunk left I could use another powerful attack and then attempt a capture.

“Teardrop, fire off a Thunderbolt attack!” I figured Thunderbolt would do just enough damage to make the Carvanha a good chance at being captured. It might bring the smaller Pokemon to the brink of being fainted, but I was confident it would be able to survive the attack. Rotom waved its hose at me and began the Thunderbolt attack.

As it did that I reached into my pack and pulled out another empty Park Ball, the standard device for capturing basic Pokemon in the park. I could use one of the more powerful balls to make the ball that much harder to escape for the Carvanha, but I figured it wouldn’t be needed to take it out. When I came up with the Park Ball I depressed the center button to enlarge. When Rotom got off its Thunderbolt attack I would throw the ball at Carvanha, hopefully it would work.

Krabby responded to Bluestreak’s stat raise by doing a stat rise of his own. Hone Claws was an interesting move that made the user gain a higher attack and a much better accuracy. It was quite useful on things like Metagross with Meteor Mash or Excadrill and Stone Edge. Made those moves hit with much greater accuracy than they normally would have. Clyde wasn’t sure what this Krabby would need the accuracy rise for; perhaps it was simply for the attack rise. Either way, Krabby was now the same as before. Krabby’s attack rise and Bluestreak’s defense rise sort of canceled each other out and made them as if no rise had been made. So technically speaking, Floatzel was even stronger than before while Krabby was just still the same.

“Alright Bluestreak, let’s to on the offensive now.” Clyde said, still telepathically to his Pokémon. This method of communication was extremely effective for many reasons. One, the wild Pokémon would have a harder time trying to figure out what move they were using. It was also more interesting that way and It hardly required any energy since Mindbender was quite skilled in this already. “Let’s go with Aqua Jet, then grab its claw… carefully because you don’t want to break it off. Then Crunch down on it hard. Remember though, its not food so don’t actually take a bite out of it. Crab legs are okay, but I don’t want you scaring this little guy by eating his leg in front of him.”

Bluestreak jumped into the air and a field of water surrounded him, almost as if he were going Super Sayian. It always looked pretty bad ass. Then he took off in an amazing speed. He would then collide with Krabby. That attack itself wasn’t meant to do much damage, it was just meant to get Bluestreak close enough for him to crunch down on Krabby. Granted, the move was still supposed to do some damage,he wasn’t expecting much from it. He was expecting a little bit of damage from Crunch though, at least a good amount. He wasn’t sure if he could do it, but he intended to capture this Pokémon after the next set of moves. Hopefully that went well because he didn’t want to spend much more time here than was actually needed. If he played his cards right, he was going to be able to continue on after this.

“You do remember that their legs and arms come off easily right?” Mindbender asked Clyde.

“Yeah, but they also grow back stronger than before, which actually is probably why Kingler’s arms and legs are incredibly strong. Hmm, that is actually interesting.”

“Yeah, I suppose it is. That does make sense though. Surprised I didn’t think of that.” She responded.

“Yeah, well, I can think of these things myself.” He said grinning. “Also, can you get a reading of his current health?”

“Yeah, Krabby appears to have four fifths of his health intact. I predict that he will still have three fifths after this next attack.”

“Hmm, that isn’t good.” Clyde grunted. “We need to do more damage than that. Bluestreak, don’t hold back. Hit that Krabby hard and crunch down as hard as you can, try to drop the defense if you can, that will help even more for our next move.”

“Teardrop, fire off a Thunderbolt attack!” He said. Thunderbolt was an extremely powerful electric type attack that did a more than great deal of damage, especially to a Water type Pokemon that was in the water. I was surprised the Rotom didn't knock it out with that attack, I wasn't hoping for that, but I suspected that it would do that. I noticed Garth was reaching into his bag. He pulled out a Parkball, which only meant he was going to try capturing it now. I would've done the same thing if I were him, catching Pokemon as quickly as possible was something my family and I did quite often.

Moments after Thunderbolt hit, Carvanha lept out of the water and took down Rotom in a last attempt to save itself from being captured. A pointless effort, but still showed that he had determination. It was something at least. Garth took that moment that Carvanha came out of the water to throw his Parkball. For me, Parkballs were extremely weak and I almost always used Hyperballs, but a Parkball seemed appropriate here and looked like it would do the trick.

The Parkball hit Carvanha and the usual red light shot out and sucked it in. The ball landed on the ground and shook twice before remaining perfectly still. "Congrats! Another Pokemon snagged." I said, congratulating him. "Rest for a bit if you want and then let me know when you are ready to move on. Also keep in mind the paths I told you about earlier and let me know which we will take.

A few seconds passed by as Clyde and Bluestreak stayed silent, the two still communng telepathically thanks to Mindbender. Krabby, being the only one out of the loop, backed up and looked at his opponent strangely, as if he was afraid that the Floatzel had lost a few screws during their last exchange of blows.

You have to feel sorry for the little guy
, Makina said to Aria, noticing the Krabby's confusion. A more paranoid Pokemon would think that the Trainer and Pokemon would share one mind in this situation.

<And a more intelligent Pokemon would have figured out what was going on by now,> the Gardevoir replied with a touch of arrogance. <Honestly, any creature with telepathy would pick up on their link, they practically have it on loudspeaker.>

At that moment, Bluestreak started his next turn of attacks. The Floatzel shot high into the high from a geyser of water, then nosedived to the Krabby at near-blinding speed. Before the River Crab Pokemon could react, Bluestreak reached for the Water-type's left pincher, staggering the creature.

Krabby attempted to break free, but the movements seemed almost halfhearted, as if he was too afraid to try harder. This was likely due to the fact that Krabby tended to possess fragile limbs until they were close to evolution. If a pincer was lost, the wild Pokemon would be at a serious disadvantage.

Bluestreak grinned wickedly, almost as if he knew why his opponent was not trying too hard to retreat, and sunk his fangs into the limb he was holding on to. The Floatzel held his grip for a second- and immediately let go with a yelp as the pincer became hard as iron, forcing him to release his hold.

As soon as he was free, Krabby tested out his injured claw before moving both pincers forward in a cross pattern, slashing the Floatzel's chest with a vengeance. This time it was Bluestreak's turn to retreat, backing away from the wild Pokemon as it attempted to get another wild swing in. Seeing that it was impossible to get back within striking range for the moment, Krabby kicked a large glob of mud instead, attempting to slow Bluestreak.

As soon as he was free, Krabby tested out his injured claw. It was a smart thing to do, for all I knew, it could have been broken already. Of course, that would be most beneficial for us, the Krabby would then be unbalanced and have a hard time moving around easily. Krabby didn't waste any time. He immediately began slashing at Bluestreak as hard as he could. He tried to do so repeatedly, but was unsuccessful. Bluestreak had stepped back and was now out of the hitting distance of the Krabby. Krabby knew he would no longer be able hit Bluestreak at the distance he was at, so he decided to use a Special Attack move. Those types of moves were used to hit other Pokemon at a more greater distance. Krabby though, didn't have a great Special Attack, so I didn't have much to worry about.

"Damnit, Bluestreak we need one more attack in. You have to make this one count." Clyde said to his water weasel, Bluestreak. "Use Strength this time. That should be all we need to capture it." Clyde looked at the Krabby again to verify the health. "Mindbender, status update."

"I am reading the health meter to be around three fifths, like I predicted. You will have to make this attack count if you want to even reach two fifths or less. I know you plan on capturing it this turn after Bluestreak performs his next move, but I believe you may need one more turn after that."

"Probably, but you know how rushed I feel. I have to try capturing it now."
Clyde replied to his Psychic friend. He pulled out a Hyperball and readied himself to throw it. Bluestreak began to use his move. When using Strength, Bluestreak would use his power to lift and throw the Krabby, hopefully hitting it hard, or at least as hard as he could without knocking it out. That was something Clyde needed right now since Bluestreak didn't know any status inflicting moves. It was unfortunate for then because Clyde always liked using those types of moves. They made capturing a Pokemon that much easier, and faster, which was something he liked to do.

Use Sonicboom as well, we could use the extra damage." Clyde added. Sonicboom was a move that created shockwaves that were launched at the opponent at great speed. Bluestreak would use his tails to do this. It was a small damaging move, but that was all I needed it to do.

Just before I could throw the Parkball at Carvanha the little fish Pokemon bolted from the water and slammed into Rotom. Rotom took the attack with only a little damage, the Reflect as still there providing protection.

Before the Carvanha could get off another attack at Rotom I flung the Parkball at it. The Pokemon was absorbed into the device by the telltale red light. It wiggled on the ground twice before settling down, the Carvanha had been caught.

“Congrats, another Pokemon snagged,” Alex said, walking over and retrieving the Pokeball to place alongside the one containing Krabby. “Rest for a bit if you want and then let me know when you are ready to move on. Also, keep in mind the paths I told you about earlier and let me know which we will take.”

I gave Rotom some words of gratitude before I recalled it. Turning to Alex, I said, “Let’s stick to the lakes for now, we can head towards the mountains later.”

Instead of trying to dodge the incoming glob of mud heading his way, Bluestreak instead decided to charge forward once more, ignoring the attack as it splattered against him. Once the Floatzel was within grappling range of the small red Pokemon, he picked up the creature and locked it in a crushing hold. Krabby struggled in vain against the larger Pokemon, but it was no use; he was unable to break free.

<Interesting choice of using such a move,> Aria remarked, overhearing the command. While normally Strength would be used to move large boulders around with ease or to fling large objects at an opposing target, Bluestreak was using it like an improved version of Bind.

As the Floatzel released his hold, Krabby slumped down into the sand, appearing for all intents and purposes to be too weak to fight back. Worried, Bluestreak gently prodded the creature with a claw- and was sent flying as Krabby slammed into him with the force of a speeding bullet. The two crashed to the ground, nearly falling into the water, as Bluestreak lay there appearing dazed. Surprisingly, Krabby appeared to fare no better, acting as if he had suffered whiplash.

Using this moment to act, Bluestreak brought his two paws together and blasted a large sound-wave at the Krabby, sending it forward about a foot before it fell to the ground once more. The River Crab Pokemon struggled back to his feet, but it was clear that he was on his last legs.

Seeing that the Floatzel had completed his last move, Clyde brought out another capture device, this time a Hyperball. The lobbed the sphere at the weakened Krabby, and the Pokemon was sucked in. Unlike his last capture, this time the Ball hardly shook before letting off a loud ping.

“And that makes two,” Makina said, retrieving Krabby's Ball and placing it next to Basculin. “Tell me when you're ready to continue, we'll head out when you are ready.”

“Let’s stick to the lakes for now, we can head towards the mountains later.” He said. I just shrugged. There would hopefully be some good stuff here for him. He already caught two good Pokemon, and he was still able to capture two more before he had to give one up. Since he was on an endurance run, a new segment in the park, he was able to find and capture up to four Pokemon and had additional time. I hadn't gone on any myself, but I sure was going to go on one after I finished taking him on this run.

We walked down the lake path in silence, just on the look out for any Water type Pokemon for him to catch. So far, nothing had stopped or given us a chance to battle or capture it. Some good stuff just randomly showed up, but as quickly as it appeared, it just as quickly disappeared deep to the bottom of the lake. I would offer for him to go down there, but I wasn't sure if he wanted to go underwater or if he even had the equipment for it. If he didn't he could borrow some from the park, but he would have to ask me for that.

The weather was just nice, not too hot... just warm. The lakeside breeze also felt nice. I was really in the mood to go swimming. Perhaps if I finished fast enough, I could finish my vacation with a nice swim. I was distracted from my thoughts when a jet of water hit both Garth and I, knocking us off our feet. I quickly got up and scouted the area. I saw a Blastoise laughing his ass off as he pointed his left gun at us again.

"Want to battle this Pokemon?" I asked him.
