Bill laughed as the poor Sunkern continuously damaged itself.

Bill tightened his index finger and pointed at the confused creature.

"Let's hit that Sunkern with another Aerial Ace! Target it's sprout! That's the source of its energy!"

Sunkerns use their sprout to gather energy from the sunlight. If the sprout was disabled, so would the power of Sunkern.

"Let's hit that Sunkern with another Aerial Ace! Target its sprout! That's the source of its energy!" Bill called.

The Shedinja kept wheeling in that large circle, maintaining its speed. It flew low, aiming to strike the Sunkern again. It did so, clipping the top of the Sunkern, kncoing it to the ground.

Unfortunately for Bill, the strike caused the Sunkern to regain its focus, and it stared straight at the Shedinja as it wheeled through the air again. It concentrated, and a white swirling ball of energy began forming in front of it. It fired the ball at the Shedinja, and as it flew tiny strands dragged behind, taking on the appearance of vines. The white ball struck the Shedinja, there was a white flash. When the flash dimmed, the Shedinja was unharmed, except there was a small seed and some vines wrapped around it.

"Haha! I recognize that from the handbook! Worry Seed? What the heck will that do to a freakin Shedinja?" Bill laughed furiously thinking Worry Seed as a total joke.

"Shedinja, it's too slow to react to another Confuse Ray right? Lets do this!"

Shedinja's lifeless eye sockets glowed similar to its previous Confuse Ray. As Sunkern prepared to make its move, Shedinja's creepy produced rays of darkness slowly crawled towards the tiny seed Pokemon.

"Haha! I recognize that from the handbook! Worry Seed? What the heck will that do to a freakin Shedinja?" Bill laughed.

Obviously, he didn't realize that Sunkern had just disabled Shedinja's Wonder Guard Ability, and since Shedinja was the most frail Pokemon in existence, Sunkern only needed to get one shot in.

"Shedinja, it's too slow to react to another Confuse Ray right? Lets do this!" Bill called.

Shedinja launched another round of Confuse Ray waves, and they wove tantalizingly around the Sunkern. Again, it tried to follow them, and it was confused again. However, the Sunkern was still smart, and so it began spitting speeds in all directions as it spun around due to the confusion. There was no doubt in my mind that if Bill didn't do something, one of the seeds would hit Shedinja and knock it out.

"Wait a second, what the heck is going on!" screamed Bill.

He noticed that the invisible force that once shrouded his Shedinja from the attacks of Sunkern go missing, something was wrong.

"Umm... errr... Devourer, Return!" shouted Bill in panic, not knowing exactly what he was supposed to do.

The Shedinja was soon coated in a red light, and dragged it into its Pokeball. The little sprouts from the Worry Seed shriveled up during this process, unlatching from Shedinja, and tumbling onto the greenhouse floor.

"Go Swipes, lets do this!"

With his reflexes, Bill hooked his Shedinja's Pokeball back onto his belt, swiftly grabbing the Pokeball closest to his right pocket and flinging it into the air.

A long Furret popped out of the ball, with its eyes glowing in determination.

Finally, Bill realised that just because Sunkern was statistically the weakest Pokemon in existence, it still shouldn't be underestimated. He returned his Shedinja and summoned Swipes, his Furret. Swipes' long sinuous body curled in on itself as it attempted to dodge the Bullet Seed attack, but it got hit a few times.

The Sunkern stopped spinning and it closed its eyes, trying to calm itself. After a couple seconds, it cheeped softly and the small leaves on its head started glowing white.

I recognised this move. It was using Synthesis to heal itself, and the move was being powered up by Sunny Day! Bill would have to move fast, or he'd be back at square one in this battle.

"Argh, Swipes! Are you okay?" Bill asked his Furret.

The Furret, who's chest was hit by a few rounds of shell-like seeds that Sunkern launched from her mouth nodded towards Bill - notifying him that himself is alright.

"Furr-Furr!" replied Swipes.

Bill, who was a little concerned at the moment then calmed down. Then he noticed the Seed Pokemon gather energy into the top of its body. This energy gathering wasn't Solarbeam though, he recognized it from his Trainer Handbook as Synthesis.

All that work for nothing? OOH NO! I'm totally not letting that happened!

"Swipes, use Hidden Power!"

The Furret begun spinning in circles, with a gentle-blue ball of light being produced in the center of the circling Pokemon.

Swipes then stood up on its back legs, holding the ball of twisting energy in between its tiny arms, preparing to launch it at its opponent.

"Swipes, use Hidden Power!" Bill called.

The Furret began running in a circle, and a small light blue orb slowly grew in the centre of the circle. I recognised the attack as Hidden Power, but I had never seen it used in this way before. I activated my lens and I saw that it was Flying-typed - a perfect choice considering Sunkern's Grass typing.

When the orb was complete, Swipes sinuously twisted his head, causing it to come up over the orb. He held the glowing sphere in his little hands, and then he hissed. The orb flew out of his hands and smashed into the Sunkern, sending it flying backwards.

The Sunkern was so surprised by this that the confusion descended again, and it flopped around helplessly on the floor. This was probably the turning point for Bill, as he could use this opportunity to get a free attack in.

Bill thought in his head, The Sunkern is slowly starting to fall apart now, make sure you don't overdo it and cause it to faint by accident. We've gotta catch this one, after all that effort I put in to this. Use this Confusion that is disabling Sunkern wisely. Do not give it an opportunity to regenerate itself.

"Swipes, use Hidden Power again! But this time, specifically aim for the sprout at the top of its head!" ordered Bill. He remembered that he attempted to get his Shedinja to eradicate the sprout previously, but halted the process after Sunkern's Worry Seeds disabled Devourer's Wonder Guard.

The Furret started spinning another ball of energy, repeating its circling form from before.

"Without the power of the sprout, Sunkern won't be able to collect sun energy! That means we'll be able to prevent it from repeating another Synthesis!" logically explained Bill to Ranger Chainy.

With his sharp sense of sight due to his naturally keen eyes, Swipes aimed at Sunkern's sprout. Then he flung the ball of swirling energy straight at Sunkern like before, but this time he was aiming for a different "target".

OOC: Sunkern is a Common Pokemon, with means it has an MCR of 4000. You've passed that handily, so you should be ready to go.

Bill ordered Swipes to launch another Hidden Power attack at the sprout on top of the Sunkern's head. The Furret began creating another Hidden Power attack the same way as last time, coiling around itself.

"Without the power of the sprout, Sunkern won't be able to collect sun energy! That means we'll be able to prevent it from repeating another Synthesis!" Bill explained to me.

I smiled and nodded. If he damaged the stalk, most of Sunkern's light-based abilities would be weakened, if not completely stopped.

Swipes had finished creating the sphere, and he launched it at the Sunkern, who was still spinning around confused. The sphere smashed into the tip of the Sunkern's head, knocking it over.

The Sunkern fell onto its face. It hopped back up, and I saw that the sprout was now a bit crooked. Unfortunately for Bill, that smack appeared to have driven the confusion from the Sunkern's mind.

The Sunkern frowned, and launched another Bullet Seed attack at Swipes. He spat a long, fast moving line of glowing white bullets at the Furret.

Bill sensed that it was almost time to capture the seedling. He noticed it wobble around as if it were struggling to stand and launch the last of its seeds with the remainder of its strength directly at the Furret (attempting to maximize damage).

Just one more hit... I'd think we be good...

"Swipes, make one more Hidden Power. Make sure to keep this one a little restrained as we wanna capture Sunkern!"

Swipes got hit by an incoming bullet at the center of his chest. It barely harmed the Furret, only giving him a small moment short of breath. The Scout Pokemon absorbed the damage of another Bullet Seed and then looked towards Bill, responding to his commands.

"Fuu-Furrrrrrrrr..."

Swipes swiveled around to repeat his last Hidden Power. The energy produced a small gust that felt like slim, gentle feathers against Bill's face, who was just behind his Pokemon.

"Fire the Hidden Power into the abdomen!" Bill pointed the the brown-striped belly of the Sunkern.

Furret slung the orb of energy right at Sunkern, incinerating the Bullet Seeds that stood in the way of the Hidden Power.

"Swipes, make one more Hidden Power. Make sure to keep this one a little restrained as we wanna capture Sunkern!" Bill called.

Furret began swirling around, creating another Hidden Power orb. The Sunkern kept spitting seeds at Swipes. Obviously it thought this was the safest move. IT certainly was a fair call - as Swipes charged the attack, multiple seeds struck him.

When the attack was charged, Furret threw it underarm at the Sunkern. The sphere smacked into Sunkern, sending it spinning.

As it spun, the Sunkern's damaged sprout began glowing again. Even though its' sun-based abilities were greatly weakened, it was planning to give them a try. I guessed it was probably preparing another Synthesis.

Bill snatched a pocket-sized Park Ball, it actually had several distinctive marks on it which meant it was the much more durable Parkball, the Hyper Ball.

The pocket-sized sphere then quickly expanded into the grasp of Bill's arm.

"Sunkern, you're mine!" shouted Bill.

The Hyper Ball flings out of Bill's palm, flying directly at the Sunkern.

His Furret purred it agreement, and Bill pulled out an Ultra Ball from his pocket, which grew to his full size as he did so.

"Sunkern, you're mine!" Bill yelled as he threw the Ultra Ball. It sailed through the air and tapped the Sunkern, converting it into red light. The light was sucked into the ball, and the ball wiggled back and forth as the Sunkern fought with the capture mechanism.

Eventually, the wiggling stopped.

"Congratulations," I said as I walked over to the ball and picked it up. "You've caught a Sunkern."

I stashed the ball in my bag, and turned to look at Bill.

"Where would you like to go now?" I asked him.

"We'll have to keep looking around this greenhouse... Swipes, return!" Bill put his Furret back into his Pokeball.

"Hmmm, well we've gotta still scan this area for the main Pokemon I'm looking for here: Castform," Bill said as he returned Swipes to his PokeBall.

As if to remind me, the readout on his Pokeplayer changed from 4 to 3.

We kept pottering around the greenhouse, checking behind pot plants and under trestle tables. The greenhouses were strangely devoid of Pokemon - there should have been many more Pokemon around here. After a couple minutes I found out why: the ground was shaking and there were some low-pitched booms coming from outside. I didn't know what was making them, but I had an idea.

"Do you want to go investigate what's making those?" I asked Bill, knowing full well that I might have to anyway.

We exited the greenhouse through a nearby door and went in search of the thumping sounds. As we left I thought I saw some movement. I turned my head and saw something white moving, but when I narrowed my eyes I couldn't see anything.

I shrugged and followed Bill.

Around the back of the greenhouses was a small clump of trees. These trees were fruit trees of all kinds. The source of the thumping sounds was a Venusaur bashing its head repeatedly against a banana tree. It was either hungry, angry, or really weird.

"Want to try catching a Venusaur?" I asked Bill quietly in case it was the second possibility.

"No thanks, let us keep moving along," Bill replied to Ranger Chainy softly to intentionally not disturb Venusaur.

Bill noticed how Steve the Dunsparce hasn't had any activity on this trip since he came to the island. He takes out his Great Ball with a yellow Ball Seal on it, and releases the contents. Yellow sparks fly out of the ball, dancing around before combining together to form the shape of Steve.

"Sssss.... Ssparcee...."

"No thanks, let us keep moving along," Bill said to me quietly.

I nodded, and we moved quietly back into the greenhouse. I closed the door behind us, but I didn't lock it. That was against the rules.

Bill summoned his Dunsparce, Steve, for no particular reason that I could discern. Perhaps he felt an oncoming battle. I certainly couldn't. I hadn't seen many Dunsparce before, they truly were interesting creatures. I would never guess from their appearance that they would be fearsome opponents, but one of my little brothers' favourite stories was how his Metagross got taken down by one of the little beasts. Apparently they used a battling strategy known colloquially as "haxxing". I didn't get around much in the professional battling world, but I did know that there weren't many great haxxers, but Dunsparce was one of them.

We walked through the greenhouse, keeping an eye out for any movement. It felt rather cold, but I didn't mind. I liked the cold. As we moved, Bill's Pokeplayer's screen decreased from 3 to 2.

Five minutes later, I noticed that I was sweating, and that it was rather hot.

"Something's playing games with us," I said angrily, turning around on the spot to find it. I activated the motion and heat sensors on my lens, and I was proven correct.

"Get out here you little monster," I ordered, and I heard the sound of a raspberry being blown at me. I bent down and separated a pot plant on the ground. Sitting right in the middle of it was a Castform. It poked its tongue out at me and spat some snow right in my face. I groaned, and wiped it off my face.

"What you're looking for is in there," I said to Bill, pointing at the pot plant. "Go nuts."
