    Eraizaa, thankfully, appeared to have no problem with fighting the Pichu pair rather then trying then trying to escape. He called out one of his other Pokemon to fight alongside Jade, which was revealed to gracefully floating Butterfree, the marks on the wings revealing it to be a female. The creature turned about to face her trainer for orders, but her large red eyes appeared to be drawn towards Jade for some strange reason, as if the Dragon-type fascinated her. While the Trainer had already called out his commands, Butterfree still silently hovered in place, lost in whatever daydream she was in.

    "Galateah!" Eraizaa called out sharply, possibly trying to shake the Pokemon out of her daze.

    Galateah jumped as if she had been knocked out of some trance, and immediately got to work. The Butterfree began to glow with a calming blue light, the aura growing to cover both herself and Jade with a protective barrier which, if Akinai remembered correctly, would guard them from status-inducing moves. Considering that Electric types had a tendency to paralyze everything they came in contact with, she was grateful for the added defense.

    As soon as the Safeguard was complete, Jade unleashed her attack upon the Pichu on the left, overhearing Eraizaa's comment that he wished to take the one on the right. As the flames mercilessly scorched the tiny mouse Pokemon, Akinai couldn't help but feel a little bad; the second, unharmed Pichu had a pained, heartbroken look on their face as if they couldn't believe what they were seeing.

    Galateah, at this point, was beginning a second move, this time summoning a great wind that was blowing towards the two wild Pokemon. While this gale would hardly do any damage, it could possibly quicken Jade and Galateah's movements.

    Interesting choice of moves, Akinai mused to herself. So far Eraizaa had called out only supporting attacks. Either he had participated in a team battle before, or liked playing on the defensive. Either way, extra boosts were always useful.

    While she was thinking of this, she had completely failed to notice that the Pichu were up to something, one of them performing an odd sort of dance and clapping hands with it's partner. One of them began to glow with a blinding white light, and slapped down on the ground. The light rapidly sunk into the ground, and multiple thick vines shot out of the ground and reached towards Jade's still-hovering form above them. The tendrils wrapped about the Flygon at impressive speed, then pulled her back down to earth.

    “Jade, hang in there!” Akinai called out to her starter, absolutely shocked by this sudden turn of events. She was especially annoyed at herself for falling into the same mindframe as Jade by thinking this would be an easy battle. The last time she had done so, a Cubchoo had nearly buried her teammate in an extremely powerful Avalanche. It was only due to her Pokemon's quick thinking that the attack had not struck full-force, and Akinai had taken the entire run seriously from then on. The fact that she needed a reminder of this was almost embarrassing.

    Fortunately, Eraizaa had noticed as well, “Galateah, get in there with Silverwind!”

    Galateah, using the boost from the Tailwind she had created earlier, darted over to the Pichu and began to emit another blast of wind from her wings, this one of a shimmering argent hue. It began to build with power as the Butterfree added more force and, as the Trainer called out another move to add into the mix, small blue flecks began to move about in the wind as well.

    “Get ready,” Eraizaa said to Akinai, watching Galateah's move build up.

    “On it,” Akinai replied in return, hoping that the two Pichu were focusing more on the imminent attack rather then keeping Jade bound to the ground. Problem was, how was she going to get out of this mess? While another Flamethrower could burn the vines away, she had no idea if the Flygon could twist herself into a position to do so. If only she could summon enough strength to break free from this trap...

    Wait, strength? Akinai mentally kicked herself for not realizing it earlier. She had taught Jade a move specifically to get out of situations just like this, yet had never gotten around to using it! “Jade, break those vines down with Strength! Once you are able to do so, strike back towards the one that hit you with an Earth Power!” Akinai commanded to the Flygon. Jade was likely more then a little irritated at being struck down by such small Pokemon. She would be wanting to attack in return, so might as well give her a command to do so... plus, if the two decided to stand next to each other once more, maybe it would hit both of them.

    Jade began to struggle against her bindings with a renewed vigor, as if she now had a burst of power added to her arsenal to make this attempt a successful one this time around. Once one of her limbs were finally free, preferably her tail, she would strike down upon the ground with an impressive force, sending a rippling tremor towards the slightly-charred Pichu.

    "Jade, hang in there!" Akinai called out to her partner in a distraught voice. Thankfully, it didn't take long for Eraizaa to pick up on the fact that his team-mate was in trouble.

    "Galateah, get in there with Silver Wind!" he ordered.

    The Butterfree chittered and spread its wings wide, taking full advantage of the Tailwind that it had just whipped up. The Bug-type flew overhead the two Pichu and started circling. Particles began to descend, just like they had with the Safeguard, except these particles were a mixture of light green and silver. The particles became streaks as the wind picked up, and soon the pair of Pichu were being buffeted by air. They were pinned to the ground - it was like a helicopter was hovering over them. I was surprised a Butterfree could be that powerful. Still, the Pichu weren't helpless - they both raised their heads, and in unison, let out an ear-piercing squeal. The noise hurt me, so I could only imagine how Galateah and Jade were feeling.

    "Add in a Sleep Powder!" Eraizaa ordered. He then turned to Akinai and said, "get ready too, Akinai."

    "On it," she replied. There was a slight pause, and then she called out to her Pokemon. “Jade, break those vines down with Strength! Once you are able to do so, strike back towards the one that hit you with an Earth Power!”

    Jade started thrashing against the vines with inhuman strength, and the green-silver wind being conjured by Galateah now contained blue spores, which were slowly drifting down towards the two Electric-types. The one on the right seemed to panic and emitted a high-pitched squeak. Considering the other one's calming replies were slightly deeper, I became sure that they were brother and sister. The sister ignored her partially-charred brother and loosed an electric bolt skyward towards Galateah. The Butterfree screeched as the Thundershock made contact, but didn't deviate from her attack.

    Just as the Sleep Powder made it down to the Pichu, Jade ripped her tail free and slammed it point-down into the ground. The appendage sunk half-way in and not long after a wave of earth began rolling towards the brother. He squeaked and curled up into a ball. White energy began playing around him again, except this energy was even stronger than previously. The moving ground struck the white energy and split to both sides like it was water and the Pichu was an unassailable bastion.

    As the earth settled and the final Sleep Powder spots melted into the ground, the Pichu lowered its shield. He squeaked happily, proud that he had been able to avoid both attacks. His sister wasn't as lucky, though - she'd been put to sleep by Galateah's attack, and was now napping lightly in the dirt.

    At nearly the same time as Galateah's last technique was beginning to fall down upon the two Pichu, Jade was finally able to rip her tail free from the vines and unleash her own attack. The tremor-inducing attack swiftly made it's way to it's target, but the Pichu had a plan of his own as well. Just before the Earth Power could strike, a shining golden barrier surrounded the small Electric-type's body and diverted the move entirely. Instead, the cracks splintered off around the two, leaving the Pichu unharmed.

    “Interesting...” Akinai mused, looking over at the Pichu with a clearly impressed look on her face. While she was somewhat annoyed that her commanded attack had failed, it was clear that this Pokemon had a quick mind. Plus, he had practically sacrificed himself earlier to protect his sibling from being scorched from Jade's Flamethrower; perhaps she would try to capture this one after all. Still, there was one part that bugged at her. It was clear to see that the two siblings were close, with the way they had both attacked together and appeared to be stuck together at the hip. If only one was captured, it would mean the second one would be all alone. If it comes down to that, I'll release him at the end of the run, Akinai silently promised herself.

    Jade, still trying to free the rest of her body from the vines, gave her Trainer a questioning look as she awaited her next command. While only the Flygon's tail was free at the moment, it might be possible for her to twist her head towards her opponent and attack with a different technique.

    Akinai looked over at the Pichu, trying to discern how much more damage the creature could take before collapsing. While he had managed to weather a decent amount of damage, there didn't appear to be much more stamina left in the Pokemon. Strong-willed or not, he was still a baby Pokemon after all. “Jade, just continue to work yourself free,” Akinai remarked to the Flygon. “If you can, try to burn some of the larger ones away with another Flamethrower.” She fished out a Parkball from her pack and took one more look over at the scorched Pichu, finalizing her decision. Once she saw the perfect time to act, she aimed and threw the Parkball forward.

    Everything seemed to be going smoothly for Galateah. Thanks to the Tailwind, she was able to maneuver a lot better around the Pichu siblings as she prepared her attack. As the Silverwind began to pick up, it also began to glitter under the moonlight. Galateah might not be Sassy, but she did like making a performance out of her moves. It made her feel good about herself.

    Suddenly, something began to bother her. It was a very strong sound that she couldn't pinpoint for a moment. She knew it had to be an attack, but with all the wind blowing around the sound waves, it didn't seem to bother her much, so she continued on with her combo. As she began flying higher, she released blue particles into the silvery whirlwind bellow. The particles themselves bounced off more moonlight. At that moment, Alegría had stopped cheering as she was captivated by the scene ahead.

    Galateah felt proud of herself, but it seemed like the Sleep Powder had not done all of its job. She suddenly felt the shock of an electric attack run through her body. The shock caused her to drop down for a moment, but she began to flutter once more as she tried to shake off that attack. She looked down at the Pichu bellow with a very upset look on her eyes. She wasn't angry, but she wasn't happy about this either.

    Still, I knew that we needed just one more strong hit in order to capture the tiny electric mouse. When I saw Akinai throw her Parkball and saw that the other Pichu was asleep, I became certain that it was going to be safer to attack now.

    I looked up at my Butterfree with a serene look and said, "Galateah, Solarbeam."

    Galateah looked a bit confused. She was used to me making combinations or to try to be unexpected, but, it was definitely unexpected for her to just have to do a single damaging move, but, she wasn't the type to argue about things either. She fluttered a bit to be a good position under the moonlight and took a deep breath as the energy from the night sky began to flow into her body.

    I really hoped this was enough to capture the Pichu. It might have been asleep, but I knew it still had plenty of strength. I took out a Parkball and held it tightly while Galateah prepared her attack. I felt like taking a chance, so regardless of how the Solarbeam turned out, I was going to throw that Parkball.

    OOC: Yes, do have the Parkball be thrown after Galateah's attack.

    “Jade, just continue to work yourself free,” Akinai called out. “If you can, try to burn some of the larger ones away with another Flamethrower.”

    Apparently she had decided that the scorched Pichu had taken enough punishment. Eraizaa was of a different opinion with his Pichu.

    "Galateah, Solarbeam," he commanded.

    The Butterfree appeared slightly confused, but she followed her orders. She moved so that her lustrous white wings reflected the moonlight onto the Pichu. A yellow-green energy ball began growing using the moon's power. It always fascinated me how Solarbeam could use the night sky's light, but they were all light rays, so it made sense.

    Galateah made her trademark chittering sound as the green ball shot forwards, turning into a glowing lance of power. The Solarbeam plowed into the ground next to the sleeping Pichu, sending the Electric-type flying into the air. The male Pichu looked over to see what had happened, and Akinai saw her chance. She threw a Park Ball towards the small mouse Pokemon, being careful to throw it over the small spurts of fire that Jade was emitting. Eraizaa decided to follow suit, sending a second Park Ball on its way after the first. The capture devices both hit their intended targets, and a couple seconds later made identical "capture succeeded" sounds.

    "Congratulations you two," I said as I walked over to pick up both of the balls. Ranger regulations stated that the Ranger held onto the balls of all captured Pokemon just in case the Trainer caught more than three Pokemon in their allotted run. "I suppose we're just about ready to move on into the Plant itself now."

    As if to punctuate my observation, Jade finished ripping herself free of the Grass Knot. She grumbled and turned around to fry the now-useless vines into crisps. I couldn't say I blamed her - I hated the feeling of being restrained and unable to move. The Flygon buzzed back into the air and flew around behind Akinai, waiting for her Trainer to lead her into the Plant.

    Galateah's SolarBeam had proven to be an excellent distraction, giving Akinai just enough time to toss the Parkball before her opponent could react in turn. At the same time, it appeared as if Eraizaa was ready to try a capture as well; another Parkball appeared to suck in the second Pichu, still dozing away. Both spheres wobbled in tandem, as if the two Pokemon were still able to work in unison, then grew still as the captures proved successful.

    "Congratulations you two," Chainy said, picking up the two Parkballs to store away for now. "I suppose we're just about ready to move on into the Plant itself now."

    Despite the fact that Pichu were ultra-common and not that powerful, Akinai still felt the normal rush of excitement a capture usually brought on, along with a relief that the battle was finally over. Even though the conflict had been a short one unlike her past encounters, she was eager to move on into the the building proper. “Thanks again for the distraction, we were really in a bind for a second” Akinai said, giving a small grin as she turned to look over at Eraizaa. “Mixing in Sleep Powder as well was also a nice-” she froze, paling as she finally realized what was floating right next to her.

    During the battle, Alegría had managed to hover between the two trainers, bobbing side to side as she watched the battle rage on. Perhaps the Spiritomb was just trying to get a closer look at the match, or just wanted to see how her teammate was faring with a new partner. Regardless, there was only two thoughts going on in Akinai's mind at the moment: One, there is a Spiritomb not even a foot away and Two, move away, now! Akinai moved a full two steps sideways from the Ghost Pokemon before she realized that Eraizaa was likely looking at her now and trying to figure out just what was going on. “She.. just surprised me, that's all,” she replied, quickly trying to think of a rational explanation to give to the other trainer.

    A loud ripping sound pierced the silence as Jade finally managed to completely free herself from the Grass Knot tangle, taking to the skies once more in a triumphant flight before descending down once more. The Flygon's large forest-green form hovered just above the floral mess she had just escaped, and the area was lit up once more for a brief moment as she lit the vines aflame as a final testament to the battle. Seeing that her work was done, she took her place behind Akinai once more, ready to move on.

    “Right, then...” Akinai said, trying to break the silence as she watched the fire from Jade's Flamethrower die down. “I'm ready when you are, Eraizaa.”

    I stared at the scene in anticipation as Galateah began to absorb energy. The Butterfree tried to do her best to aim at the sleeping Pichu as she did. We both knew that this could be what decided the battle. The Solarbeam was soon released heading straight for its target. Pichu was notably hurt, but it was still asleep somehow. I knew that was my chance.

    At that moment, I threw the Parkball. As I looked to my side, Akinai had thrown the Parkball as well. Both spheres kept going forward, each hitting the Pichu they were meant for. Only after a few moments, both Parkballs stopped moving simultaneously.

    That was it! We captured them! I looked towards Akinai and it looked like she shared the same feeling. Although common, it was worth celebrating. Alegría couldn't help but jump for joy, or at least try.

    However, I looked towards Akinai and her face suddenly changed. She tried to explained her reaction towards my Spiritomb, but, I certainly didn't buy it. I knew that expression far too well, but, I decided to smile and play along. Luckily, Alegría was oblivious about it.

    “Alegría, come here girl. Try not to be so sneaky. You'll give someone a heart attack one of these days,” I said to my Spiritomb.

    The ghost Pokemon simply smiled a bit, notably embarrassed.

    “Don't worry too much about it,” I added as I petted her.

    Soon, the Ranger was asking us if we wanted to move forward.

    Akinai seemed ready as well, so I just took a few steps forward and said, “Alright, let's go.”

    And that was it. The end of our first battle even before we went into the building. Who knows what else we were going to encounter from now on? * We were about to find out.

    “Thanks again for the distraction, we were really in a bind for a second,” Akinai said to Eraizaa. “Mixing in Sleep Powder as well was also a nice-”

    The young woman's voice cut off suddenly when she realised that Eriazaa's Spiritomb had crept close to her. She jumped backwards and inhaled sharply, like she was about to cry out. Fortunately she caught herself in time and stuttered out a quick excuse, which I sure as hell didn't buy, and Eraizaa's quick glance told me that he didn't either. It was actually pretty strange. I knew for a fact that Akinai had captured a Spiritomb - I'd been there when she'd done it. So why did she hold onto it instead of trade it if she was petrified of the Forbidden Pokemon?

    Eraizaa apparently took pity on Eraizaa, breaking the silence. “Alegría, come here girl. Try not to be so sneaky. You'll give someone a heart attack one of these days,” she admonished the Ghost-type. Alegría gave an embarrassed smile and hovered back over to her trainer. Unfortunately, the silence sprung straight back up.

    “Right, then, I'm ready when you are, Eraizaa,” Akinai said slowly.

    "Alright, let's go," he replied, starting forwards towards the building. I jogged ahead of them - the Ranger should lead the way, after all.

    The big double doors were easy to push, as always - they were one of the very few pieces of the Plant we kept in working order. One push opened both of them wide, and the doors swung inwards, revealing the large entry corridor of the Plant. It was big enough to fit two large petrol trucks side by side, and it was long enough for them to drag race in. Well, they wouldn't technically be able to because large piles of junk were all over the place, and random pieces of debris were strewn across the floor. Broken computer monitors, barely working printers, all kinds of technological garbage that the local Pokemon liked to play with. The crossbeams on the ceiling were covered in wires, some of which sparked and swung gently from side to side.

    When our little group was inside, I closed the doors behind us - Ranger protocol. It didn't seem to make sense because there were many other ways for the Pokemon to get outside if they wanted to, but hey, I'm a Elite Ranger so I gotta follow the rules.

    We were barely inside the plant when a strange Pokemon ran up to us. It was yellow and seemed to be wearing a kind of dress that billowed out around it legs. The strangest part, however, was the cardboard box it was wearing on its head. I frowned, not recognising the species.

    "Hey there little one, where did you come from?" I asked it.

    The Pokemon answered me in its high-pitched speech, gesturing all over the place. It then pointed upwards, and I saw a Magnemite drift slowly down. It beeped repeatedly at the yellow Pokemon, and I couldn't be sure, but I thought the Electric-type was telling the other Pokemon off. The land-bound Pokemon gestured back at the Magnemite, but finally its shoulders slumped. The cardboard box shuddered before exploding, revealing the mysterious Pokemon's most salient feature - its huge gray horns, set in the shape of a vicious jaw. I finally recognised the Pokemon for what it was, a Mawile.

    The Mawile turned and saw Alegría hovering quietly behind Eraizaa. It clapped happily and pointed at the Ghost-type, before dancing a little dance. The Magnemite seemed to sigh, or at least I thought it did. It blinked really slowly and dipped in midair.

    "Well, do you guys wanna battle these two?" I asked.

    (OOC: Eraizaa is interested in a Magnemite and I've been looking for a Mawile, so going to swap the two.)

    The inside of the Power Plant was nothing like Akinai had imagined it to be. While the exterior building had indeed have an abandoned feel to it, the interior looked as if a storm had somehow found its way in and had thrown everything about. The rafters above them had wires lying bare for all to see, some even frayed or broken apart due to age or a stray Pokemon nibbling on them. The ground level, due to being easier to obtain access to, was in even more a mess. The technological debris cluttered the floor, leaving much of the surface covered and out of sight. While it was possible some of these parts may yet still work, it was far more likely most of the objects were far beyond repair.

    The people back home would have a heart attack looking at this place, Akinai silently remarked to herself. From where she came from, technology and machines were considered almost sacred. If they could see a place with machinery in such disrepair, their reactions would likely alternate between absolute shock and unbridled fury. In stark contrast, Akinai herself had no patience for machines. After all, why take the time to figure out a device when there is an easier way to do it yourself? Technology could be so odd sometimes.

    They had hardly traveled far when they were greeted by another creature, this one having a strange addition to it. While the Pokemon had most of its body visible, the head was covered in what appeared to be a box of some kind, making identification a little more difficult.

    "Hey there little one, where did you come from?" Chainy asked the creature.

    Akinai looked over at the Ranger, seeing if he had any idea what Pokemon this was supposed to be. Unfortunately, due to the confused look on his face, it was safe to say that he had no idea what it was supposed to be either. “It might not know either, due to being unable to see,” Akinai remarked, grinning at the Pokemon.

    The unknown creature let out a shrill reply, pointing everywhere as if it was uncertain what direction it had come from. Finally, whether it was taking pity on the fellow Pokemon or had been summoned by the cries, another form began to lower from the ceiling. The form of the newcomer was made it plain for all to see for what it was: a Magnemite.

    The Magnemite descended until it was right above the mystery Pokemon, and began to let off a series of beeps that, while nearly impossible to figure out, sounded almost as if it was berating the Pokemon. The two began to communicate, as if they were arguing about the fact that a box made a terrible fashion statement.

    Jade, who had been silent ever since entering the Plant, was watching the two with a slackjawed expression, as if she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Finally, the Flygon sighed and rolled her eyes at the first Pokemon, as if she agreed with the Magnemite.

    Without warning, the box exploded, revealing what appeared to be a gaping maw filled with sharp teeth. While this would be terrifying at first, as the box fell completely apart the jaws were revealed to be a ruse: they were simply a pair of horns, grown to resemble a mouth instead. The Pokemon's true face was smaller and more innocent-appearing, and was currently beaming in Alegría's direction.

    "Well, do you guys wanna battle these two?" the Ranger inquired.

    Akinai, who was grinning at Mawile's unusual personality, looked over to see what the Pokemon was so happy to see. She faltered a moment as she saw that the Steel-type was clearly interested in battling Alegría, but saw that Eraizaa had his sights on another Pokemon entirely. He appeared to be watching the Magnemites every move, as if deciding what move to use. Maybe they could switch opponents? “I'd like to fight Mawile, so long as you're willing to take on Magnemite,” Akinai offered. She even had the perfect Pokemon to use, whether Eraizaa wanted to fight Magnemite or stick with Mawile. Grabbing one of the Pokeballs off of her belt, she lightly tossed the sphere upwards, “Lia, it's your turn!”

    The Pokeball released its trademark white light, revealing the green and white form of a Gardevoir. The Pokemon looked about her surroundings a moment with wide eyes, as if she could hardly believe where she was. <Is this the Park?> Lia asked her Trainer, clearly surprised, <This is nothing like back home!>

    Well, the island is a big place, remember? Akinai replied, then noticed that Lia's gaze had frozen in a certain direction. Oops. She had forgotten for a moment that Lia had wanted to see Chainy and Dual. I'm sorry, Lia, but we need to focus. Can you do that for now?

    <Hm? All right...> Lia responded distractedly, but not before waving at the Ranger a moment. <So who am I against? The Mawile looks friendly.>

    You're against no one at the moment. Akinai responded, then switched to replying out loud, “Lia, start out things with a Calm Mind, then switch to Helping Hand to assist your teammate when they appear.” She had no idea who Eraizaa was going to use, but had a feeling that it would not be Alegría. Unless the Spiritomb had an oddball added move in her arsenal, she would do minimal damage to both Mawile and Magnemite.

    Lia nodded in response, clearly happy to hear that she would be working with a partner for this battle. She closed her eyes a moment and took a deep breath, trying to clear her mind and make her attacks stronger in return. In addition, the calming move would help dull any elemental attacks thrown at her, improving her endurance.

    OOC: Yup, agreed to switch targets with Akinai.

    @Akinai

    Finally, with the battle done, we all followed Ranger Carter into the large building. As the doors opened my first impression wasn't how wrecked the place was or how old, nor was it the many random electronics or electrical wiring all around.

    I actually had to say it out loud, “Wow! This place is a lot bigger than I expected.”

    And that was that for that one thought. Immediately after I began moving from one side to the other, basically studying every corner I could come in contact with. I have to admit, I was greatly tempted to see if I could grab some wires or parts to take. I knew I couldn't because it was all property of the National Park, but I couldn't help being tempted. Not many people knew, but, I was a bit of a pack rat. Soon enough, something else caught my attention and that something was wearing a cardboard box. It was moving though. That was clearly a good sign.

    The Ranger neared the creature to greet it, but soon after a round metallic Pokemon with two magnets on its sides showed up. At that moment, I smiled widely. It was a Magnemite! I found those things to be so curious, but, this one was kind of serious. I wasn't sure if I wanted another serious Pokemon on my team, but, Magnemite would make such a great asset.

    At that moment, the cardboard box seemed to have burst. I took a step back in surprise, but that's when I realized the mystery Pokemon was a Mawile. I noticed how Akinai's eyes instantly darted towards the new Steel-type that had showed up. She was grinning even. It was clear she wanted to battle this one, but the cheerful way Mawile kept moving and pointing towards Alegría told me it wanted to battle someone else.

    The look on Akinai's eyes suddenly changed. She was clearly ready to battle. She quickly grabbed a Pokeball and let out a Gardevoir. I hadn't seen one of those in such a long time. The Gardevoir looked surprised though. Maybe Akinai forgot to tell her Pokemon where she was headed? Either way, juding from the exchange of looks in their faces, it looked like she was communicating telepathically. I wondered what that would be like since I've never been able to do that myself. Still, if she was going to battle, I couldn't leave her alone to do so.

    I pulled out a Pokeball myself and opened it while saying, “Esteban, your turn!”

    The white light flashed out of the Pokeball revealing a Gallade. Although his face was relaxed, he quickly assumed a defensive position. It was something he had a tendency of doing.

    “Alright Esteban, Mawile and Magnemite there are your opponents. That Gardevoir over there is your partner for this battle,” I explained to Esteban.

    He nodded and quickly moved to Lia's side while facing the Steel-types ahead.

    As I heard Akinai give Lia her first command of Calm Mind, I a looked towards Esteban and said, “Let's start with Calm Mind as well.”

    Esteban wouldn't dare close his eyes at this moment, but even while looking forward he tried to focus on the job ahead while trying to remove unnecessary stress. That's when, for a moment at least, Esteban closed his eyes only to open them again quickly, staring sharply towards his opponent.

    It was then that I smiled at Akinai and said gently, “You know, since we are battling as a team, it really doesn't matter which of our Pokemon battles which. You can have Mawile at the end if you want.”

    I knew that Lia was preparing to use Helping Hand. I had never had any of my Pokemon be aided by someone else's Helping Hand, so I felt like I had to do the most with it.

    “Esteban, Vacuum Wave, right between the two,” I explained softly trying to put some emphasis on the final instructions.

    Esteban looked to his side towards Lia and the look on his eyes suddenly changed a bit. He nodded towards her with a friendly smile trying to tell her “Ready?” He knew battling was something he had to focus on, but he sometimes got a serious face while battling and he didn't want to spook his partner. At that moment Esteban let his left arm down while holding his right arm upwards. Suddenly, the Blade Pokemon slashed forward with his right arm forcefully pulling it back letting out a concentrated wave of energy that was aim at the point right between Mawile and Magnemite.

    With the surroundings being a closed space, the attack's energy pulled on the wires and computer parts around as it flew forward. Hopefully, with Calm Mind, Lia's help, and a little luck, maybe, just maybe, the Vacuum Wave could be powerful enough to hurt both Pokemon, or at least throw them off long enough to get in more powerful attacks later.

    OOC: @Akinai, @Eraizaa-kun sorry it took so long, guys. Gender, Akinai?

    ~~~~~
    “I'd like to fight Mawile, so long as you're willing to take on Magnemite,” Akinai said to Eraizaa. The young man nodded slightly, and Akinai smiled. “Lia, it's your turn!” she called out as she threw a PokeBall up into the air. It burst open and emitted a bright light before revealing the shape of a Gardevoir. Something tickled at my memory, but I brushed it away. I was kind of glad that Dual wasn't here right now - he spent any and all time around Gardevoir hitting on them. Some of his pickup lines were even worse than mine.
    The Gardevoir looked around for a few minutes, and something about the way she moved told me that she was still young yet. “Lia, start out things with a Calm Mind, then switch to Helping Hand to assist your teammate when they appear," Akinai ordered.
    Eraizaa took a quick look at Lia before tossing his own PokeBall in front of him. “Esteban, your turn!” he cried. This flash revealed a Gallade, and I was suddenly very glad that Dual wasn't around. It wasn't that he didn't get along with other Gallade, it was that he could get quite competitive, and since there was a Gardevoir hanging around I wouldn't put it past Dual to blow a huge hole in the side of the Plant just to impress her and show up Esteban.
    “Let's start with Calm Mind as well," Eraizaa suggested. When I battled with Dual, I usually didn't bother to raise his long-range attack because his physical attack was so much more impressive, but the trainer must have had a plan.
    Lia closed her eyes and raised her hands to her head. A slight blue aura was visible around her green hair. Esteban took up the exact same defensive stance Dual always used, and while he didn't close his eyes his focus seemed to sharpen, and the exact same aura surrounded his helmet. The Mawile nodded to the Magnemite, who beeped in return. Its black pair of horns started to shine bright silver, which spread down its yellow body as well. The Magnemite backed up a little bit and suddenly began emitting a horrific screeching sound. The attack was almost physical - Esteban recoiled and Lia clasped her hands over her ears. Even I took a step back and winced.
    <What the hell was that noise?> I heard Dual's voice in my mind.
    Uh, it was nothing, just a noise by a Wild, I replied.
    <Oh, okay. Well, I'm on my way over now, I'm done with the job.>
    I swore inside my head. Uh, there's no rush, I said hastily. I got stuff under control here, why don't you take the day off or something?
    Dual immediately became suspicious. <Why?> he asked. <Is there something there you don't want me to see?>
    Uh, no? I responded weakly.
    <Uh huh.> I could almost feel Dual's stare drilling into my eyes. <I'll be there in a few minutes - I'm very interested in what you're hiding.>
    I sighed and switched off the mental link. Maybe everything would be fine. I'd just have to see what happened. Besides, there was a battle going on that I should be paying attention to.
    Lia started performing a flowing kind of dance that involved a bit of clapping. White lines of energy flowed around her as she swayed, following her movements. When the dance was complete, Lia stamped on the ground and clapped in Esteban's direction. The white power flew towards the Gallade and wrapped around his chest and arms before flowing slowly up towards his head.
    “You know, since we are battling as a team, it really doesn't matter which of our Pokemon battles which. You can have Mawile at the end if you want,” Eraizaa said to Akinai while smiling. He then turned to Esteban and said softly, “Esteban, Vacuum Wave, right between the two."
    Esteban drew both of his arms back, and then shoved them both forwards. A huge blast of pressurized air laced with white energy flew towards the pair of Pokemon. The Magnemite was sent spinning through the air, and it made shrill wooping sounds as it went. The Mawile was knocked into the air, and landed just in front of a junk pile, right on its backside. To my surprise, the Steel-type began bawling its eyes out. Comically oversized tears erupted from its eyes and dripped down to the concrete floor, and it seemed to look at Esteban through the tears. When the Magnemite stopped spinning, it looked accusingly at the Gallade. A red laser line shot out from the Magnemite's pupil, and it landed on Esteban's chest. I knew what that was - that was a Lock-On. Whatever was coming next would probably hurt a lot.
    OOC: Female, please. Also, I lol'd.
    Akinai glanced over at Eraizaa, curious to see what Pokemon he would call upon to team up with Lia. Even though the Gardevoir had an easygoing personality, she knew that some of the more hotheaded or stubborn-natured creatures usually preferred to work alone. As the other trainer's Pokeball revealed the familiar-looking form of a Gallade, she felt much more confident that this combination could work. After all, not only did their strengths compliment each other, but they both shared a common evolution.
    Lia, who had been just as curious to see who her partner was, beamed out a cheerful greeting to the Gallade. While she knew that this was not Zen, Akinai's Gallade, she was happy to see that she would be working with a Pokemon she was familiar in teaming up with.
    As both Psychic-types finished their Calm Mind technique, Mawile and Magnemite shared a nod, clearly ready to begin as well. Mawile's body began to shine a brilliant silver, improving her already impressive natural defense. Magnemite, on the other hand, appeared to only back up a bit, sizing up it's opponents. Suddenly an earsplitting screeching noise began to emanate from the Magnemite, the soundwaves almost visible with the way they traveled through the air. While Mawile appeared hardly phased, both Esteban and Lia flinched from the sound, Lia even vainly attempting to block it out by covering her ears with her hands.
    Akinai, covering her ears as well, simply gritted her teeth while she waited for the noise to pass, trying to remind herself that the noise was far more worse against Pokemon. If this was considered extremely loud for humans, it must be downright painful for Lia. Thankfully, the Screech died down after a moment, the move completed for now.
    Able to move once more, Lia immediately began to perform Helping Hand, summoning up a small amount of latent power to transfer over to Esteban. While Akinai almost never saw this move used due to sticking to single battles, their fight with the Pichu siblings earlier had proved that it could be both a useful and powerful technique when used well. It all depended on what attack Eraizaa would use to gain advantage of this boost in power.
    “You know, since we are battling as a team, it really doesn't matter which of our Pokemon battles which. You can have Mawile at the end if you want,” Eraizaa remarked to Akinai, then turned his attention to his Gallade, “Esteban, Vacuum Wave, right between the two."
    Akinai nodded, both in response to Eraizaa and the move he had decided upon. Vacuum Wave, if she remembered correctly, was a Fighting-based move, and therefore extremely strong versus Steel Pokemon. Plus, the move was weak enough to not accidentally faint a still-healthy opponent. Still, aiming between the two targets was a little risky... what if they managed to get out of the way?
    Thankfully, this appeared to not be the case. As Esteban released the Vacuum Wave, an enormous blast of air shot straight forward, blasting both wild Pokemon into the air. While the Magnemite was able to right itself in the air after a small amount of spinning, the Mawile had landed flat on her back, and was now looking at Esteban. Instead of attacking, Mawile did something completely different- she began to cry loudly, with tears visibly pouring from her eyes as she still glared at the Gallade.
    Magnemite, seeing its partner's distress, began to glare at Esteban as well. A laser shot forth from the Electric type's lone eye, and set its mark straight on the Gallade's form.
    Not good, Akinai thought to herself. Their opponents were teaming up on one target once again, this time on Esteban. At least this gave her a chance to repay the favor for helping out Jade earlier. Lia, I need you to stop Magnemite from attacking. Are you ready?
    Lia, who had been looking at Mawile with an empathic expression, snapped to attention. Her sight followed the red laser's target to her teammate, and appeared to be slightly confused by the meaning, <It doesn't seem to be hurting him...>
    Trust me, he will be hurting if that Magnemite launches another attack, Akinai grimly thought in return, then called out her attack. “Lia, go with Hypnosis! After that, disorient it with a Psychic.” While she wanted to weaken Mawile and Psychic wouldn't do much damage against either target, that wasn't the plan for now. Magnemite had at least one powerful low accuracy move in their arsenal; if it managed to use such a move, the Gallade would be seriously hurting. Plus, she doubted Lia would agree to attack Mawile in the Pokemon's current state.
    Lia held out her arms towards the Magnemite, releasing soothing waves of hypnotic energy towards the strange-looking creature, trying to lull it into a slumbering state. Once this move was completed, she would begin to focus on a great deal of psychic energy, transferring it to her target and possibly allowing her to manipulate the Pokemon's form for a short amount of time.
    So far, it looked like this was going to go quite well. Lia looked glad to see her partner was a Gallade and the two Pokemon began to relax a bit to perform their Calm Mind move. I did notice Mawile giving out a strange shine. I was trying to figure out what it was, but at that moment, the serenity was interrupted by a horrible sound. I couldn't help but cover my ears as the sound hurt to listen to. I couldn't imagine what it would be like for our Pokemon, but, they actually seemed to be enduring better than I was, although it was clear that the Screech had taken some effect.
    Both Esteban and Lia quickly recovered and the Gardevoir immediately began to do a strange dance. I knew it was Helping Hand she was performing, but I've only seen other people's Minum and Plusle use Helping Hand before. This looks so much different. Probably due to the fact that Electric types only need to give an electric boost to their partners to power-up their electric attacks. Still, at the end, it looked like it had the same result.
    Esteban finally swung his arm forward releasing an energy blast that knocked away both Steel-types. Mawile didn't seem too happy about that attack as she suddenly began to cry dramatically. Esteban looked like he was taking those tears seriously as for a moment he looked sad and began to drop his defensive stance, but at that moment, Magnemite shot a red beam right towards him. It looked like everyone immediately recognized that attack, Lock-on. That only meant that whatever was coming next was going to be bad news.
    Akinai quickly commanded commanded her Gardevoir to use Hypnosis followed by a Psychic attack. Those didn't seem to be attacks that would do much damage. That meant she was only trying to protect Esteban. It seemed she was now more comfortable with battling as a team than before. But now it was my turn to make sure that her attacks worked.
    “Estaban, get to Lia's side and charge Thunder Wave!” I said with an enthusiastic tone.
    Esteban nodded and gave a big jump landing right next to the Gardevoir. He then put both his blades together and began to rub one against the other. Soon, electric sparks could be seen running through his blades, but he wasn't attacking. The energy was just being built up causing the air around to fill with static electricity. I had heard that Magnemite are greatly attracted to electric waves. If I could draw its attention to Lia, her Hypnosis attack had a better chance of working.
    I waited for Lia's Hypnosis to be done and said, “Now! Release the energy on Mawile!”
    Esteban turned towards his new target, raised his blades and swung them towards Mawile releasing an impressive charge of electricity. I wasn't sure if holding on to that Thunder Wave for so long was going to make it any more effective, but I couldn't let all that energy go to waste and I certainly couldn't forget that we had two opponents to worry about. I wished I could have done more, but it felt like the uncertainty of what was coming next, especially with that Lock-on, had forced me into a defensive position.
    “Lia, go with Hypnosis! After that, disorient it with a Psychic,” Akinai commanded.
    The Gardevoir held her hands in front of her and she began projecting blue waves of psychic energy towards the Magnemite. However, the Steel-type didn't look like it was starting to go to sleep, and I knew why. Hypnosis required eye-to-eye contact, and the floating magnet Pokemon was busy concentrating on Esteban. Small flickers of yellow jumped around the Magnemite, and then a thin beam-like strand of electricity was emitted from in-between the twin screws on the front of the Magnemite's spherical body. The Thundershock followed the red line exactly, striking the Gallade dead-on. Fortunately, the Fighting-type didn't seem perturbed by the attack, and I wasn't surprised. They took long-range attacks very well.
    "Esteban, get to Lia's side and charge Thunder Wave," Eraizaa called.
    The Pokemon nodded and jumped to the side, zooming low off the ground and landing right next to Lia. Interestingly, the Magnemite stayed Locked-On to Esteban, which was a mistake. Now that the Gallade was close to Lia, some of the Hypnosis waves were starting to strike the Magnemite's eye. It started to droop, and the Lock-On flickered off. The Steel-type made a strange grinding sound, and the Mawile dropped low to the ground. The grinding became a whining, and all of a sudden there was a huge output of electrical energy. The sparks went in all directions, striking both Lia and Esteban but miraculously missing the Steel-typed Mawile.
    I felt a quick flash of cold, and turned to my side to see Dual appear at my side. <What's going on here?> he asked.
    "Battle," I replied tersely.
    <Well, obviously. That Gallade seems quite intelligent - he's using the Discharge sparks to fuel his own Thunder Wave,> my partner remarked. He then looked over at Lia, and I could almost feel his eyes widen, but the trademark unconscious loosening of his mental defenses didn't occur. <I hope you know who that is,> he said to me.
    I didn't reply, and it was clear I was missing something, but I was too busy keeping an eye on the battle to worry about it right now. By now the yellow energy gathering around Esteban's arms had almost completely enveloped his blades.
    "Now! Release the energy on Mawile!" Eraizaa yelled.
    Just then, lots of things happened at once. Lia stopped launching the Hypnosis waves and instead switched over to her Psychic attack. The Magnemite was shaken in all directions before being knocked on the ground. The Mawile began running towards the pair of Psychic-typed Pokemon, and as she did so her horn began glowing silver. She launched herself into the air towards Lia, and Esteban fired the Thunder Wave. The electricity spread out and struck the Mawile like a lightning bolt, but there wasn't enough force to jolt her backwards. The Mawile crashed head-first into Lia, knocking her backwards onto her rear end before collapsing into a pile on the ground. The Magnemite also hit the ground, incapacitated, except it was asleep instead of merely paralysed.
    While Lia was clearly putting a great deal of effort into her Hypnosis, the Magnemite didn't appear to be phased in the least. In fact, it even shot out a small bolt of electricity towards Esteban as if it was further testing his improved accuracy, shocking the Gallade slightly. While Hypnosis was not exactly a surefire way to put a target to sleep, Akinai felt like she was missing something vital. Why isn't this working... she took another look at the Electric-type's unwavering gaze towards Esteban, and silently swore to herself. Of course! Hypnosis required at least a moment of eye contact to fully work. If the Pokemon refused to look at Lia, the Gardevoir was pretty much wasting energy at this point.
    Thankfully, Eraizaa had noticed this as well, "Esteban, get to Lia's side and charge Thunder Wave.”
    Esteban reacted nearly instantly to his trainer's call, leaping to situate himself right beside Lia before beginning his attack. Once done, he began to rub his blade-arms together, attempting building up enough of a static charge for a decent shock.
    Due to the Gallade moving and Magnemite's Lock-On still being in effect, Lia's Hypnosis was finally able to effect the wild Pokemon. As drowsiness took hold of it, however, the magnetic creature attempted to go down fighting. After letting off a low sound to possibly warn it's partner. The noise became louder in mere moments and a large burst of electricity flooded the vicinity, striking anything in it's vicinity. The bolts hit both Lia and Esteban with impressive force, yet Mawile survived the outburst completely unharmed.
    As Lia and Esteban released their attacks simultaneously, Mawile finally sprung into action. Seeing that the Gardevoir was hurting her friend, the Deceiver Pokemon charged forward, her horns shining silver as she leaped towards her target. At this moment, Esteban's own electrical attack managed to strike true, causing Mawile to crash into Lia. The two Pokemon landed together into a heap while Magnemite fell to the ground as well, finally asleep.
    If it wasn't for the fact that this was a battle, the current scene could be considered almost comical to the random observer. Mawile was squirming, appearing slightly heavylimbed due to paralysis possibly setting in, and Lia seemed to be in a daze, staring at the Mawile with an incredulous expression. <What... just happened?> she asked, sounding genuinely surprised.
    Believe it or not, success, Akinai replied, nodding over to the dozing Magnemite. It was hard to tell due to the Pokemon's metallic form, but she had a suspicion that it would soon be ready for capture. Lia's Psychic had actually done quite a decent amount of damage to the Electric-type, knocking it around a bit before crashing it back down to earth. Mawile, on the other hand, appeared ready for more. While she moved about somewhat stiffly, the Steel-type had only taken one damaging attack so far. It would probably be able to take a few more hits, but no more.
    Akinai debated on throwing caution into the wind and trying her luck with a single powerful attack; after all, Lia had recently learned how to perform Focus Blast. With the Gardevoir's currently boosted attack power, however, this would most likely be overkill. The rest of her attacks would do little damage though. There has to be something I'm missing, some way to weather it down other then just throwing attacks all day... I wonder why Magnemite's attack didn't hit Mawile instead? She thought back, trying to visualize the scene just moments before. The bolts of energy flying everywhere, the wild Pokemon crouching low to the ground... Wait, that's it!
    “You got this, Lia! Use Confusion to lift Mawile into the air, then finish it with Hidden Power,” Akinai said to the Gardevoir, unable to hide a slight smile as she tried to picture her plan come into motion. She didn't want to risk using another Psychic blast after having used one just moments before, but this action most likely needed only a minimal amount of effort- Confusion could get the job done if so. Plus, if the second attack hit, Mawile would have no way to ground itself in midair.
    Lia seemed slightly confused by her Trainer's command, but began to focus on her next attack regardless. After all, stopping a red light earlier had actually proven useful. Maybe lifting up this new target would do something helpful as well.
    Akinai took this moment to go through her pack once more, this time fishing out a Superball. If she was wrong, or her plan backfired in some way, at least she had a slightly higher chance of capture with this instead of the lower-powered Parkballs. As soon as she saw Lia was finished with her attacks, she took aim at the Mawile and threw.
    The strategy was desperately resting on perfect timing to avoid what everyone believed was going to be a Zap Cannon attack from Magnemite. Lia had just started performing her Hypnosis attack, but that was too early as Magnemite was looking away. My Gallade was about to make his leap to guide Magnemite's sight towards the Gardevoir, but it seemed that my planning had taken too long. Sparks began flying out of Magnemite and, for a moment, I began to panic on the inside, but then the sparks gathered in the air and shot themselves towards Magnemite. I definitely knew that wasn't a Zap Cannon and it didn't look strong enough to be a Thunderbolt, so, it was probably Thundershock.
    Esteban took the attack, but he didn't seemed too bothered by it. Finally he made his way to Lia's side and began charging his Thunder Wave attack. As he did, Magnemite's sight was still locked on to Gallade causing it to become exposed to Lia's Hypnosis. Magnemite was getting drowsy very quickly, but at the last moment it suddenly discharged electricity in all directions. Luckity for Mawile, the Discharge barely missed her, but our Pokemon weren't as lucky. It seemed that both Lia and Esteban still had plenty of fight in them though.
    At that moment, I felt as if there was a new presence in the room. I looked out of the corner of my eye and noticed another Gallade. I didn't think wild Gallade showed up at all in the Powerplant, so I thought it must have been either Akinai's or Ranger Carter's. Either way, I had to focus more on the battle at hand.
    Lia seemed to have gotten a Psychic grip on Magnemite's body and had started throwing the magnet Pokemon around, but while she was distracted with that, Mawile had decided to charge towards the Gardevoir with what looked like an Iron Head attack. Esteban tried discharging his Thunder Wave attack towards Mawile, but it didn't do much to hinder the Steel-type's attack. Lia was hit hard, but she seemed okay. Judging by the look on Akinai's face, she was getting ready to end the battle, and really, so should we.
    “Esteban, give it the last touch with Dream Eater,” I said with a calm voice as I knew this was about to end.
    The Blade Pokemon extended his right arm towards the now sleeping Magnemite as a fog of psychic energy began to come out of his body. The small fog took the shape of a hand which aimed to grab onto Magnemite tightly to steal its energy. As the attacked progressed, I looked to a side and noticed Lia attempting to use Confusion on Mawile. The Deceiving Pokemon actually looked quite healthy and I didn't think Confusion would do mush.
    As soon as my Gallade's attack was over, I said, “Alright Esteban, switch to Helping Hand. I'll take care of the rest.”
    Esteban nodded and began to perform a dance quite similar to the one Lia had done earlier. In the meantime, I took out a Parkball and aimed directly at Magnet Pokemon. As Esteban's suddenly released an burst of energy that headed towards Lia, I threw the Parkball towards Magnemite hoping for the best. It seemed like Akinai was about to do the same on her side. I wondered if this battle was going to end just like the previous one.
    Lia got to her feet, and she seemed a little confused while doing so. I couldn't say that I blamed her - she'd taken a direct hit from the heavy Mawile. Hopefully that didn't damage her battle ability. I was semi-expecting Dual to rush out to the Gardevoir's defense, but strangely, he wasn't acting like he normally did around Gardevoir. Maybe there was something special about this one.
    "Esteban, give it the last touch with Dream Eater," Eraizaa commanded.
    The Gallade started performing a swaying dance, frequently holding out his hands towards the Magnemite and then pulling them into his chest. Blobs of blue energy began leaking out of the Magnemite's spherical body, and they floated through the air. When they reached Esteban, they were absorbed through the red crest in the middle of his torso. I heard Dual snort, and I knew why - this version of Dream Eater looked nothing like Dual's, and no doubt my partner thought his way was more efficient or more impressive or something.
    “You got this, Lia! Use Confusion to lift Mawile into the air, then finish it with Hidden Power,” Akinai called out.
    The Gardevoir held out both her hands towards the Deceiver Pokemon. Suddenly, the Steel-type was lifted into the air. It struggled, trying to break free of the invisible grasp, but there was no hope. Lia might seem to be a little bit ditzy, but her control of her psychic abilities was excellent.
    “Alright Esteban, switch to Helping Hand. I'll take care of the rest," Eraizaa said.
    Esteban's dance didn't really change, but the blue orbs stopped leeching out of the Magnemite. Instead, white energy covered the Gallade's hands, and he started clapping a lot. The final clap was pointed in Lia's direction, and a large beam of white energy blasted out from his outstetched palms. Lia was coated in this energy, and her dress flowed outwards as some streams of electricity were emitted from her hands. The yellow lightning wrapped around the Mawile, shocking it mercilessly with the added power of Esteban's Helping Hand. When the combo was finished, the Mawile collapsed onto the ground, smoking slightly.
    Both of the Trainers decided to take this opportunity to attempt a capture. Eraizaa pulled out a Park Ball, like I was expecting, but curiously Akinai decided on a Super Ball. She really wanted this Mawile (by the looks of it, anyway). Both trainers threw their balls at the same time. The Park Ball hit the Magnemite square on its body and the Super Ball tapped the Mawile's horns. Both Pokemon were drawn inside the capture devices, which proceeded to shake as the Pokemon attempted to overcome the capture mechanisms.
    Finally, both balls stilled. I grinned at my Trainers before walking over and picking up the newly captured Pokemon. "Great battle, you two," I said to them both. "Let me know when you're ready to move on."
    Dual approached the Gardevoir in a friendly manner, and I watched carefully to see what would happen. I knew there was something I hadn't seen about Lia, and hopefully it was about to be revealed...
    Akinai was surprised to see Eraizaa order Esteban to increase Lia's attack with a Helping Hand, but stayed silent, only giving an appreciative nod towards the fellow Trainer. The boost was hardly likely to make the Mawile faint, and any way to weaken their opponent was always nice. While a Superball may be overkill now, she was hardly about to break her gaze on the wild Pokemon to search into her pack once more.
    Just like before, both capture devices hit their targets simultaneously. Both spheres appeared to put up quite a fight, but in the end the two eventually stopped shaking.
    "Great battle, you two," Chainy congratulated, picking up the two captured Pokemon. "Let me know when you're ready to move on."
    “You were excellent out there, Lia,” Akinai said, grinning over at her partner. She was impressed to see how well the Gardevoir teamed up with Esteban, along with how quickly the two synced their attacks together. Normally she appeared to stall in battles, as if not sure what to do next. Perhaps all she needed was a boost of confidence or preferred to just be a supporter... Akinai made a mental note to test this out later.
    Lia beamed at the compliment, all worry of having to attack Mawile earlier having left her face now that the battle was over. Before she could respond back, something caught her eye as a figure walked towards her. While Lia appeared confused a moment as if trying to figure out just who this newcomer was, it quickly vanished as her eyes widened, finally recognizing the Gallade. <Dual!> She quickly closed the distance between them, clearly eager to talk to him.
    Figuring that both Eraizaa and Esteban were lost likely wondering what was going on at this point, Akinai tried to summarize to them what was going on as best she could. “I met Lia during my first visit to the Park,” she explained. “Dual helped me out then, so she took a liking to both him and Jade.” Lia had never told her what she and Dual had talked about that day, so Akinai could only assume that the two had a mentor-apprentice relationship in that short time. Even Zen had been unable to figure out anything, despite having asked the then-Kirlia a few times about it.
    Jade, watching the situation as well, hovered over to Akinai and nodded. She then lightly tapped her Pokeball with a single claw, recalling herself for the time being.
    “Odd,” Akinai muttered. Jade hated being recalled into her Ball unless it was absolutely necessary. To recall herself was almost unheard of... than again, the Flygon could normally read what Lia wanted, which was most likely to talk to her old friend. Having a plethora of Pokemon out at the same time would probably alert every wild creature in the area. “Well, I'm ready to head out when everyone else is.”
    After Esteban's attack had hit and he moved out of the way to help Lia, I firmly grabbed the Parkball and tossed it forward. Akinai had had the same idea as her Gardevoir's Hidden Power had done its job. Similar from before, both balls head straight towards their targets. Both wild Pokemon were hit and absorbed into the spheres which fell to the floor. After a few seconds of shaking, both balls stopped which was a clear sign that the captures were successful.
    Alegría, who had silently been watching the battle began to cheer once again when suddenly the Gallade who had showed up earlier neared Lia. I wasn't curious about why a Gallade would near Lia, but, these two actually seem to know each other somehow. It didn't take long for Akinai to explain to us what was going on. Still, Alegría didn't stop to listen to what Akinai had to say. Almost as if she had teleported, Alegría popped up to where Lia and Dual were to greet them only to find herself being lifted away by Esteban who seemed to have more respect for their meeting.
    I grinned and said, “Thanks Esteban.”
    I quickly pointed the Gallade's Pokeball towards him and recalled him. Alegría seemed a bit lost as to what was going on. I sighed and wondered if her nature was truly jolly instead of naïve, but, I guess everyone has their quirks.
    After Jade had mysteriously recalled herself into her Pokeball, Akinai seemed ready to move forward.
    I nodded at her comment and added, “Yeah, I'm ready here too.”
    "You were excellent out there Lia," Akinai said to her Gardevoir. The Psychic-type seemed happy at the praise, but then she saw Dual and became ecstatic. Dual walked over to meet her halfway, and he was openly grinning, which was unusual for the stoic Pokemon. It finally clicked - Lia was the Kirlia that Akinai had captured in Meteor Valley! I could tell by the quick and sharp way that Lia moved that she hadn't yet grown into the natural grace that all Gardevoir had. Still, that made her endearing in a way that normal Gardevoir weren't. I decided not to listen in on their conversation, but it was obvious that both of them were happy to see each other again.
    Akinai must have noticed that Eraizaa and Esteban were a little confused at what was going on, so she quickly related the story of how I had rangered her once before. Jade didn't seem as interested in the story as they were, so she returned herself to her PokeBall.
    Eraizaa's Spiritomb began drifting over to Lia and Dual, probably to say hello, but Esteban wasn't having any of that - being a Gallade as well, he was well-versed in propriety and manners. He grabbed Alegría by her keystone and pulled her back to their Trainer. Eraizaa grinned and thanked the Fighting-type before returning the Gallade to his ball.
    “Well, I'm ready to head out when everyone else is,” Akinai said.
    "Yeah, I'm ready here too," Eraizaa chimed in.
    "Alright, well onwards then," I said.
    I led our little group further down the main corridor, weaving through the piles of junk and making sure to avoid anything that looked even slightly active. I saw a orange orb in-amongst a heap of junk that was twitching slightly. Small rivulets of electricity ran over the ball. I peered a little bit closer, and suddenly the heap exploded outwards. A Voltorb rolled out of the junk, hotly pursued by a happily braying Mareep. I finally recognised what the little ball was - the tip of Mareep's tail. It must have been playing chasey or hide-and-seek with the Voltorb.
    "Well, either of you guys wanna battle these two?" I asked them.
