OOC: Sorry, I decided to do it now because waiting any longer would be implausable. I won't speak out loud, though, in case you want to save it for later.

We walked past the Shinx, who yapped and growled at us, trying to get our attention. Seeing as we didn't want to battle them, however, we walked past them, trying our best to ignore them. The two little blue Pokemon followed us for a while, but they soon grew tired of their little game, and they ran off looking for something else to do.

I noticed that our Ranger was shooting periodic glances at a map, and that my partner was thinking hard, as if trying to recall something. The sense of deja vu returned again - I was now certain I had seen my partner somewhere before. I watched him and his Luxray carefully as we walked through dark, twisting corridors, trying to figure out where we had met before.

Suddenly, a lightbulb flicked on in my head. Last time I had come to the Park, I had been escorted through the Woods by a Ranger with a Luxray. And this person seemed very similar to that Ranger. I felt that I was right, but I wasn't sure, so I decided to hold off on saying anything until I was.

Not long after my revelation, we found ourselves looking at a large steel door that was blocking our path. I shot a look at our Ranger, who stepped up and pushed on the door. The door made a rusty squealing sound, and suddenly a Zubat dropped from its hidden nest near the ceiling, squeaking and fluttering around in panic. It bumped into a purple blob on the floor that I hadn't noticed, and I was shocked to see the blob rise up into the air. It was a Koffing! The Koffing rose up opposite my partner, belching noxious fumes, and the Zubat hovered next to it but higher, looking at me. I sighed, because I didn't want the Zubat but I did want the Koffing.

"Well, interested in these two?" Jay asked us.

"Nah, I'm good," my partner said.

I felt like grinning in joy. That meant the Koffing was fair game!

"I'd like to go for the Koffing," I said, detaching Dual's PokeBall from its place on my right gauntlet. I dropped it on the ground in front of me, and Dual appeared in a flash of white light. I also pulled off Specialle's PokeBall, just in case my partner didn't want to help out. And if he didn't, that was fine with me.

I knew that Koffing had good physical defense and a fair bit of health, so Gallade's immense physical strength wouldn't OHKO the floating gas-ball.

"Dual, soften that Koffing up with a Psycho Cut," I said to him, "but hold back a little bit and don't try for a critical. We don't want to knock it out." After a couple seconds, I added, "also, if the Koffing tries to poison you, use Protect to ride it out."

Dual nodded, and he extended both of his elbow blades to their maximum length. They both glowed blue, and he started running towards the Koffing. If my partner didn't act soon, I'd use Specialle's Ice Punch to try and scare off the Zubat, but I'd have to wait and see whether he acted or not.

Just as I figured, Jathan was indeed interested in capturing Koffing. It was, after all, a pretty good Pokémon to use in battle. I just didn’t have any real preference for one. I watched as Jathan pulled out two Pokeballs. He threw forth one, which revealed itself to be Gallade. After realizing that he was probably waiting to see if I would help out, I pulled out Umbreon’s Pokémon.

The dark-type Pokémon emerged with a white flash of light. Since Umbreon knew some Psychic type attacks, he would prove useful in the battle against Zubat. I would keep Zubat busy while Jathan attempted to capture Koffing.]

“Breon!” The Pokémon cried as he emerged from his Pokeball.

“Umbreon, your opponent is Zubat,” I said. “Let’s keep him busy so that our partner can battle Koffing without any disturbances!”

Umbreon nodded and turned towards his opponent. I saw that Jathan had already started his attack against Koffing. I had to go ahead and get started if I was going to be of any use.

“Alright, Umbreon,” I said. “First, use Screech to knock Zubat off guard! Then, use Faint Attack to slam your body into it!”

If my combination attack worked out the way I planned, Umbreon would make a loud screeching noise. Since Zubat used sonar to see where they were, the attack would disrupt its hearing, and cause it to become confused of its surroundings. While Zubat was in a state of confusion, Umbreon would proceed to ram into the Pokémon using Faint Attack. Hopefully, the attack would be enough to do enough damage to make the Zubat flee. If not, then I would continue to fight until Jathan had captured his Pokémon.

    OOC: Please improve post quality.

"Nah, I'm good," Dee C said. "Jathan's face seemed to light up with joy at the thought of battling, and possibly catching a Koffing. "I'll go for the Koffing," Jathan beamed. Jathan lobbed a Pokeball high into the air and in a brilliant flash of dazzling white light a Gallade materiallised in the battlefield. It's dark eyes twinkled with excitement as it anticipated an oncoming battle. It flexed it's blades as it stared at the purple puffball, known as Koffing.

"Dual, soften that Koffing up with a Psycho Cut," Jathan said to his Gallade, "but hold back a little bit and don't try for a critical. We don't want to knock it out." He paused for a few seconds before adding, "also, if the Koffing tries to poison you, use Protect to ride it out." Gallade raised both of it's dark green arms and brought them down at once, sending two purple discs spinning through the air in a zig zag pattern. The Gallade smirked cockily.

At the same time Dee had lobbed a Pokeball of his own into the air, which emitted a dark, dog like Pokemon. The Umbreon stretched a little as it was out in the open space. "Umbreon, your opponent is Zubat,” Dee said. “Let’s keep him busy so that our partner can battle Koffing without any disturbances!" Umbreon nodded in agreement as Dee called out the next attacks. "Alright, Umbreon. First, use Screech to knock Zubat off guard! Then, use Faint Attack to slam your body into it!"

The Umbreon opened it's mouth wide and gave a high-pitched screech. The Zubat twitched at the sound, and, as it continued, Zubat began to fly around erratically. I looked at the Zubat mournfully, the poor Pokemon didn't stand a chance. The two purple discs shot through the air straight at the Koffing, who hovered up a little, behind the crazy Zubat. The twin discs struck the Zubat head on, knocking it literally to it's senses. Then, the Umbreon dove forward, eyes closed, leaving a faint trail of silver behind as it ran forward. It hit into the startled Zubat, almost knocking it out. The Zubat opened it's mouth as supersonic waves of concentrated energy shot towards the Umbron, who seemed confused by the odd patterns and began walking around in circles, before walking head on into a cracked wall. The Koffing leaned forwards and spat a blob of bubbling sludge onto the distracted Gallade. The Gallade turned a green tinge and looked rather ill, meaning it had become poisoned.

    OOC: Enough, or more?

My partner threw a PokeBall into the air, and it twisted and rotated before snapping open and emitting a bright white light. When the light faded, I saw an Umbreon. The Umbreon was stretching its legs and twitching its ears, preparing itself for battle. I was now convinced that my partner was in fact Dee, my previous Ranger, but I kept silent on the off-chance that I was wrong.

"Umbreon, your opponent is Zubat. Let’s keep him busy so that our partner can battle Koffing without any disturbances. First, use Screech to knock Zubat off guard! Then, use Faint Attack to slam your body into it!" Dee called to his Umbreon. The Umbreon made a keening howl, and then it took on a deliberately aggressive pose. Its legs were wide apart, bracing itself, and its tail and ears shot out. It blended into the darkness of the corridor so well that I could hardly see it.

I quickly looked back over at Dual. Apparently, he didn't want to get too close to the Koffing, so he took a few steps forward, then stopped. His elbow-blades fully extended, and they were glowing a bright blue, casting the light across the corridor. He swung his right arm upwards, like he was performing a right hook, and the blue light detached from his blade and formed into a disk-like shape as it moved towards the Koffing. Dual then followed up with his left arm. There were now two spinning crescent blades made of pain heading towards the Koffing.

Suddenly, and ear-piercing wail started bouncing off the walls. I covered my ears with my hands, but it was no good. I looked over at the Umbreon, and I saw that all of its hairs were standing on end. Across from us, the Zubat started panicking. It flew around erratically - the Screech attack was apparently playing havoc with its echolocation. As I watched, I saw that the Koffing stealthily moved up behind the Zubat, putting its ally in between itself and Dual's Psycho Cut discs. The first disc smashed straight into the Zubat's midsection, splintering into hundreds of little pieces as it did so. The second one clipped it on the side of the head and kept going, until Dual clicked his tonuge. It suddenly exploded like a firework. I grinned as I remembered the time it had taken Dual to perfect that trick.

Unluckily for Dee and his Umbreon, the Psycho Cut seemed to have knocked Zubat back to its senses. It stopped flying in circles just in time for Umbreon to blue forward. He left a slight silver trail as we moved towards the small purple-and-blue bat. The Zubat dipped low, confused. Suddenly, Umbreon shouldered it, knocking it back into the air. The Zubat was quick to respond - it regained control of its flight and started screeching at Umbreon. The screech was ever-changing, rising and dropping in pitch and volume. Umbreon flinched away from it, then fell onto his side. He started moving in circles before walking straight into the side wall.

I was watching this, eyeing Dee with pity. There weren't many worse things than having a confused Pokemon. Dual was watching too, and that was when the Koffing launched its attack. It opened its mouth wide and lunged forward. A purple blob of goo flew through the air. Dual turned to see it, but he was too slow to activate his Protect. The gloopy substance, landed on Dual's right shoulder, where it began to bubble and steam. I could smell the acrid odour from where I was standing.

I powered on my Aura Reader, and had a look at Dual through the eyepiece. It was as I feared - Dual had been poisoned by the Koffing's attack. I had found something potentially worse than confusion, I thought ruefully.

I considered my options. Dual was my prime Pokemon - my partner. HE was also my favourite Catching Pokemon - his ability to induce Sleep and his low-damage techniques rarely failed to win me the capture. But I couldn't use him later on in the Plant if he fainted now. Besides, Koffing were notorious walls, and I didn't want Dual staying in battle for too long while poisoned. Additionally, Zubat were known for employing "hax" attacks, like the Supersonic it had used on Umbreon, and I wanted Dual out of there before it thought to hit him with a super-effective Flying type attack. No, I needed something that could try to stay out of the way of annoying attacks, and at the same time out-wall a Koffing.

I grinned. I knew the perfect Pokemon. I unclipped Dual's Poke Ball from my belt and pointed it at him even as he started coughing violently.

"Dual, you've done well buddy," I called out to him, "I'll fix you up after this battle is over."

He dropped to his right knee, coughing even more violently. He managed to stop long enough to shoot me a thankful look over his shoulder. A red line of light shot out of the Poke Ball and touched Dual on his back. Dual's form was slowly replaced by more of the red light, and when his body was entirely composed of the light it retreated back into the sphere. I clipped it back onto my belt and unclipped a second ball. It was a Dusk Ball - mostly black, and with a red button. I threw it out in front of me, and another white light flashed briefly. The Dusk Ball returned to my hand, and I clipped it onto my belt. My Dusknoir, Specialle, hovered gently in front of me. She greeted me with a soft wail.

"Hey there, you ready to help me catch that Koffing?" I asked her.

She grunted affirmation, and then moved out into the battle a bit more. I thought about what to do. From the Koffing's temperament and decision earlier, it might like to dodge in order to increase the time it spent in battle. If that was the case, then I would just hit it with an attack it could not dodge. I considered briefly going after the Zubat, but I decided against it. Umbreon could probably finish it off, and besides he might be annoyed if I knocked out the Pokemon he was battling. I knew Dual would be furious if someone knocked out his opponent.

"Specialle, go after the Koffing with a Shadow Punch!" I ordered.

Specialle nodded, and she moved towards the Koffing, silently fading out of sight as she did so. Normally, she was even harder to see in this light that Umbreon, but now she was for all intents and purposes invisible. There was no way the Koffing would be able to dodge. I knew how she operated - we had been battling for a long time. She would circle the edge of the battlefield so as to stay out of the way of random attacks, and then when her opponent had worked itself into a frenzy trying to find her she'd strike, materializing a single fist and striking the hapless Pokemon solidly. I watched carefully - even though Shadow Punch by definition never missed, sometimes Pokemon could negate the attack, and Pokemon with stronger eyes like the Luxray line could see her. Hopefully the Koffing or the Zubat wouldn't be able to detect her before she made her move.

[[How does MCR work? Does it count towards this battle against Koffing, or does it build up for the next battle?]]

Just as luck would have it, our attacks didn’t work out as we had planned them. Umbreon’s screech had successfully disrupted Zubat’s ability to navigate itself, but Koffing had sneakily used the Pokémon’s misfortune as a chance to cover himself. The poisonous Pokémon flew behind the Zubat just in the niche of time so that Gallade’s Psycho Cut could hit Zubat instead.

The attack that Zubat took aided in knocking the bat-like Pokémon back into its senses. Umbreon followed up his Screech attack with Faint Attack. A small silver trailed followed the Pokémon as he snuck up on Zubat and rammed his entire body into the flying Pokémon. Zubat retaliated by emitting loud supersonic waves that dropped and increased in pitch dramatically. The waves were enough to disrupt Umbreon’s thought process and render him incapable of making sense of his surroundings and actions.

As if that wasn’t enough to make us want to rage, Koffing vomited a large blob of gas and sludge that landed right on top of Gallade, poisoning him. Gallade shivered in pain as the poison took its toll on him. I looked over at the Pokémon and trainer with an apologetic look on my face. Why was it that my partner and his Pokémon always seemed to pull the short straw and receive the most damage?

My partner Jathan recalled the sick Gallade, promising to cure him of the poison later. Then, after clipping the Pokeball back to his belt and unclipping another one, he threw it forth. A dark menacing ghost of a Pokémon emerged from the Pokeball. I immediately recognized the Pokémon as being a Dusknoir. Something about how the Pokémon carried itself told me that this Pokémon was a female Dusknoir. I looked at the ghost in awe. I had a Duskull back at my quarters that I was hoping would grow to be a strong Dusknoir someday.

“Specialle, go after the Koffing with a Shadow Punch!” My partner Jathan commanded the Pokémon.

The Pokémon nodded and approached the Koffing as she faded out of sight. Within a few seconds of her trainer’s command, the Pokémon had faded completely out of sight. I wasn’t sure what she was doing or where she was, but I knew how this attack would end.

After looking on my partner’s tactics for a while, I realized that I’d forgotten about Umbreon. Umbreon was still confused. By now, however, he had taken to running around in circles. I wondered what I should do. Should I give Umbreon another command and risk him harming again? Or should I recall him and use another Pokémon like my partner had just done? In the end, I decided to give it one more shot. Many times, Pokémon would instantly snap out of confusion. It was worth a try.

“Umbreon!” I called out to the Pokémon. “Come here a second!”

The Pokémon walked over to me. I knelt down to his level and started to whisper to him.

“You’re doing a great job,” I whispered as I patted him on the head. “We’re almost done, but I need you to hang in there for a little while longer. Can you do that?”

Umbreon nodded his head and continued to look up at me.

“You see that Zubat there?” I pointed up to the Pokémon. “That’s your opponent. Focus all of your attention on him.”

Usually, Umbreon would never KO any opponent. He preferred to keep battling because that’s what he loved to do. He would keep the battle going for as long as possible. So, I had to figure out a way for the Pokémon to possible KO himself.

“Use Confuse Ray on Zubat.” I continued. “I know you can do. Now, go out there and give it all you’ve got!”

Umbreon nodded. I patted the Pokémon on the head and stood up. Umbreon turned around to face his opponent. If the attack went right, Umbreon would start to glow and attempt to lock eyes with Zubat. If he was successful, then he would imbue Zubat’s mind with all sorts of thoughts, causing the bat Pokémon’s mind to wander aimlessly. Zubat would have trouble focusing on our battled and sometimes would even hurt himself in the midst of all of the confusion that he was suffering from. I prayed that Umbreon would successfully pull off the attack.

OOC: Posts were much better this time around ^^

OOC2: The MCR is built up from the total amount of characters in each individual post. TLM, you had two posts since my last post so the MCR for both were combined. The MCR will reset as soon as Zubat is captured, flees, or, in the most likely event, is KO'd. Also, why the need for two posts?

    BP:

"Dual, you've done well buddy," Jathan called out to his Gallade, "I'll fix you up after this battle is over."

Dual, his Gallade gave a weak smile as he supressed a shudder. He dropped to one knee as a beam of scarlet red light shot out from the open Pokeball in Jathan's hands. In one quick movement, Jathan switched Dual's Pokeball with the Pokeball of his Dusknoir, Specialle. The Dusknoir emerged after a similar beam of brilliant red light and advanced on the nonchalant Koffing.

"Specialle, go after the Koffing with a Shadow Punch!" Jathan ordered.

Dusknoir nodded in affirmation as her body grew lighter and lighter in colour, until he was the same cream colour as the bleached walls. She raised a fist as she floated towards the worried Koffing. Koffing turned it's head around suddenly as a powerful fist slammed into the Koffing's jaw, knocking it slightly off gaurd. Dusknoir's colour began to return and her body continued to darken, until she was back to her original colour. The Koffing flinched a little in shock, allowing Specialle to retreat to a safe distance. Koffing snapped to it's senses and an inky-black smog began pouring out of the many holes along it's crater like body. Dark, dense smoke poured out rather quickly, hiding it from view.

Dee averted his gaze back tohis wn Pokemon, Umbreon. The Umbreon looked a little distracted and it's stubby, black feet paced up and down, as though he was walking. Umbreon gave a swift bark, as though he was battling an invisible opponent.

“You see that Zubat there?” Dee said, pointing at the Zubat. “That’s your opponent. Focus all of your attention on him.Use Confuse Ray on Zubat.” he continued. “I know you can do. Now, go out there and give it all you’ve got!”

Umbreon's yellow eyes started to glow a radiant blue colour as his eyes locked onto the Zubat's body. Several colourless balls of energy materialised in front of the Umbreon and charged towards the Zubat. The balls of energy circled the unaware Zubat, trying to confuse it. Luckily for the Zubat, having no eyes actually proved to work to it's advantage as it chose to ignore the ever-spinning balls of glaring white light.

In response to this attack Zubat opened it's mouth up wide, revealing several razor sharp teeth. Dark gas poured out of it's mouth, as it caught on to the Koffing's strategy. Dark wispy clouds shrouded the two Pokemon from view. I gave a quick smile.

"You'll need to use all of your wits if you wan't to attack the hidden Pokemon," I smirked.

Just as I had planned, the Koffing was un-nerved by Specialle's sudden disappearance. It twisted around, trying to locate her, but she was sneaking invisibly around it. Just as Koffing turned to its left, a big gray fist materialised, smashing into the Koffing's body, where its cheek would be. The purple ball-like Pokemon was knocked backwards through the air, spiraling as it went. Little tufts of purple smoke marked its passage. Specialle took this opportunity to move away from a potential retaliation strike, and as she did she had a little boastful wiggle about her hips. I sighed. Sometimes Specialle could get a little up herself, especially when she pulled off flawless attacks like that one. She also loved contest battling, but she didn't get to do that often because I don't like Contests.

As she floated away from the Koffing, I looked over to Dee's Umbreon. It had managed to walk over to the Zubat and use Confuse Ray. Multiple swirling balls of colour materialised and flew towards the bat, dancing and weaving around it. However, this had no effect on Zubat because it didn't have any eyes. I knew that Confuse Ray also had some mental effects, but apparently the Zubat was able to shrug them off.

I quickly realised that the Koffing should have retaliated by now, so I looked over to where I had last seen it. Instead of seeing the floating purple blob I was expecting, I saw a black haze of smoke that was slowly growing bigger. The Zubat looked over to the Koffing, and it began spewing blue-ish gas out of its mouth. The black gas from Koffing and the blue gas from Zubat intermingled in the middle of the field, creating a grey-ish colour fogbank.

"You'll need to use all of your wits if you want to attack the hidden Pokemon," Jay said archly.

I thought about it. Unfortunately, I couldn't rely on Umbreon - he was having enough problems concentrating on basic attacks, let alone complex team manouevers, even if they were Specialle's specialty. That meant I had to battle alone for a little while. Specialle could probably get into the fogbank and use Shadow Punch again, but I disliked using the same move twice in a row. Besides, even though Specialle could turn invisible, the Zubat would still be able to echolocate her. The problem was that the Zubat wasn't at any disadvantage whatsoever in that fog. The Koffing might be a bit blinded, but again, it would be used to fighting in those conditions.

No, physical attacks at this point in time would be a bad idea. That meant long-range attacks, something Specialle wasn't very good with. But, there were a couple options. I considered ordered a Will-o-Wisp attack, but then the Koffing might be knocked out by the recurring damage before I captured it, so I settled on a different move.

"Specialle, stay away from the fog and use Future Sight on Koffing," I said to her. She made an annoyed little squeaking sound, but fell back and did as I said. She put her hands to her head and her head became covered by a glowing purple aura. Right about now she would be searching psychically for the Koffing. When she found its thought-patterns, she'd launch some mental attacks on her opponent. This meant she wouldn't need to get close to damage it. Furthermore, since Future Sight dealt typeless damage there was very little chance of Specialle causing Koffing to faint. The only problem was that sometimes the mental attacks took a while to truly damage the Koffing, but if the attacks weren't next to immediate I'd be able to help Dee with the Zubat. I felt a little bit guilty about his Umbreon being hurt, and I wanted to pay that back, somehow.

[[OOC: I was asking because I'm not capturing Zubat, so I was wondering if it rolled over or not. I also wouldn't mind if it counted towards Koffing's capture to add that extra MCR bonus. Also, I made a second post because I wanted to add more after Chain's post.]]

The battle was going great. Dusknoir’s attack had done what my partner wanted it to do. The Pokémon had blended in with the darkness. Then, it had approached Koffing and landed a blow to the ball of gas. Before Koffing had a chance to retaliate, however, Dusknoir had faded off again and retreated to a safe distance.

Umbreon and I, however, were not so successful in our attack. For some reason, Confuse Ray hadn’t been successful. The fact that Zubat didn’t have eyes was able to override Confuse Ray’s effectiveness. My plan hadn’t gone as I planned and Zubat was still in its right mind. I let out a deep sigh. So far, I hadn’t been of much use to my partner, which was kind of embarrassing considering I was a ranger myself. Everything seemed to be working against me.

Umbreon was once against stricken by confusion. While he didn’t hurt himself, he still had a look on his face that told me that his mind had wandered off once more. I wasn’t sure what I would do. I didn’t want to pull Umbreon out of the battle because he loved a good fight. At the same time, I didn’t want the incident with Ditto to repeat itself and cause my partner to lose his chance at a Koffing. What do I do? I asked myself.

I looked up to see where the battle was going and saw that Koffing was spewing some kind of smoky gas from his mouth. Zubat was also creating a dusky gas that I recognized as Haze. The two dark gases in the already dark room made it even harder to see the two poison-type Pokémon. I could’ however, see the large plume of gas. I just didn’t know where they were within the gas.

I started to wonder how I would counter this attack. The two Pokémon had successfully concealed themselves from us. With the gas acting as a cover, they were free to use any long range attack that they wanted while we tried to find where they were.

My partner commanded his Pokémon to use Future Sight, an attack that dealt damage to the target a while after it was used. His Dusknoir, whom he called Specialle, had her hands to her hands. I assumed she was trying to get a mental picture of where the Koffing was so that she could implant the attack within its future.

Meanwhile, I thought, I could be taking care of Zubat. I looked back down at Umbreon and noticed that the Pokémon was still confused, so I decided to recall him. Even though he was a great Pokémon, he wouldn’t be of much use in his current state.

“Come back, Umbreon!” I said as I pointed the army green and black Pokeball towards him.

The Pokémon emitted a dark purple beam of light that engulfed Umbreon and sucked him within its contents. Then, I pulled another Pokeball out of my pocket. It was a red-and-white standard edition Pokeball that was common among trainers.

“Come on out, Dragonite!” I said as I tossed the Pokeball into the air.

The Pokeball turned until the part that could open was pointed straight at the ground. Then, the Pokeball opened and emitted a bright white light that lit up the room a bit. Dragonite emerged, first about the size of a Rattata, and then grew to her normal size.

“Dragonite, I need your help.” I said as I introduce her to her opponents. “Use our special Fire Punch attack on that plume of smoke to lure the Pokémon inside out. Then, if the two Pokémon emerge from the smoke, I want you to use Thunder Punch on the Zubat.”

Dragonite nodded. She was usually very good about following my orders and performing combination attacks. However, she was very fickle and would sometimes not be in the mood of using certain types of attacks. I really hoped that she was in the mood to be totally obedient today.

If Dragonite successfully carried out my orders, she would form a ball of red-orange flames around her fist. Then, without moving, she would swing her fist forward, releasing the ball of flames towards the large puff of smoke. When the flames made contact with the smoke, it would immediately expand and causes the smoke to become a sort of dark red. It would be so hot that the two Pokémon within would be unable to maintain their position within the smoke.

They would come out from their cover within the smoke, and Dragonite would surprise Zubat with a Thunder Punch. After successfully launching the flames, Dragonite would immediately have to start charging electricity around her fists so that she would have enough time to catch Zubat off guard.

"Specialle, stay away from the fog and use Future Sight on Koffing," Jathan said after pondering for a little bit. Dusknoir gave him a reproaching look before bringing her dark arms up to her head, and then to her temple. Her eyelids closed and the yellow rings on her body began to glow a really bright colour as she concentrated. Her eyelids snapped open after a few seconds and her eyes locked on something hidden in the dense smog.

“Come back, Umbreon!” Dee said as he aimed Umbreon's Pokemon at him.

The Pokéball emitted a dark purple beam of light that engulfed Umbreon and sucked him within its contents. Then, he pulled another Pokeball out of his pocket. It was a red-and-white standard edition Pokeball.

“Come on out, Dragonite!” Dee said, hurling the Pokeball into the air.

A beautiful bright orange dragon with large torquise wings materialised in front of us. It looked around and beamed as one of it's hands scratched it's cream coloured underbelly.

“Dragonite, I need your help.” Dee commanded. “Use our special Fire Punch attack on that plume of smoke to lure the Pokémon inside out. Then, if the two Pokémon emerge from the smoke, I want you to use Thunder Punch on the Zubat.”

Dragonite's fist burst into magenta flames, causing me to cringe a little, but relax when I saw the calm smile on it's innocent face. He waved his arm around in the smoke in an attempt to summon his opponents out. There was a screeching sound as Zubat zoomed out of the flames and slashed at the Dragonite with it's wings multiple times. The Dragonite flinched a little but still managed to bring it's other fist, now charged with electricity, and smash itinto the Zubat's face sending it flying into a nearby wall, where it slid down and fell into an unconscious lump on the ground. Koffing on the other hand, remained shrouded in the shadows, awaiting it's opponents' moves.

“Yes!” I said, clenching my fist down to my waist as I did.

My plan had gone exactly as I had planned. When Dragonite used Fire Punch to heat up the smoke that our opponents were hiding in, Zubat had come running from behind his cover, giving Dragonite the perfect opportunity to use Thunder Punch and knock him out of his misery.

Oddly, Koffing had remained within the shadows that the Smokescreen/Haze combination provided. Dusknoir’s Future Sight attack hadn’t hit yet, so I still didn’t know where Koffing was. I could probably, however, use an attack that would cover the entire general area that Koffing could be found. That meant that Dragonite would have to stay in battle just a little bit longer. I called Dragonite back and congratulated her on a job well done.

“Now,” I said. “We can set our sights on helping Jathan out with his battle.”

Dragonite let out a deep sigh. She wasn’t really too fond of battling in front of other people’s Pokémon. While she did still battle, she wasn’t too willing to do so. I would have to make sure and reward her after the battle for being cooperative.

“Just a little while left, so hang in there,” I said to Dragonite, anticipating how she was feeling. “Now, use Thunder Wave on Koffing!”

Dragonite planted her feet into the ground. Then, with all of the strength that she could muster, she pushed herself into the air with her feet, using the momentum to dive straight towards Koffing. As she did so, electricity started to crackle and spark around her body.

When she was within the smoke shroud that provided Koffing with cover, she would release the electricity that was formed around her body. The electricity would lash out in a circular motion, almost like radio waves do as they were coming from the Johto Radio Tower, covering every direction that Koffing could be. It would be enough to paralyze Koffing within causing any real damage to him.

The purple aura around Specialle's head began to glow even brighter as the attack grew in strength. The yellow rings on here body started shining brightly, and her eyes snapped open. Her pupils moved around seemingly randomly, but I knew she was actually feeling for the Koffing's mental activity with her telepathic abilities. The only reason her eyes were moving was because it helped her to concentrate, just like how it helped me to concentrate during exams by chewing the end of my pen. Her hands also moved slightly from side to side, again helping her to imagine the area she was scanning. I was hopeful that soon she would launch the attack - the Koffing could try to flee or use a kamikaze maneuver, and that would make me very sad indeed.

I looked over to Dee's Dragonite. It had lit its right hand on fire, and was waving it around provocatively. Small tongues of fire fell off the main torch and burned away at the fog, but the fog was instantly replenished. Suddenly, the Zubat winged its way out of the fog, and it began laying into the orange dragon with its wings. It landed a few blows on the Dragonite's belly and one on its head before the Dragonite retaliated. Its left hand started shedding electrical sparks like an electrical mixer sheds cake mix. Dragonite swung the ThunderPunch attack at the Zubat, and it struck the Zubat cleanly in the middle of its tiny body.

The resounding crack sounded like a baseball bat. The little blue bat flew into the opposite concrete wall, making a tiny vertical crater. It then fell limply to the ground where it resembled a blue lump. I felt bad for the little creature, but the calm look on the Dragonite told me that the Zubat wouldn't suffer any long-term damage. Besides, the Ranger would probably leave a berry or feed it a revive or something like our old Ranger had.

“Now we can set our sights on helping Jathan out with his battle. Just a little while left, so hang in there. Now, use Thunder Wave on Koffing!" Dee called out to Dragonite.

I smiled and resolved to do my best to help Dee out later in the Park. He was certainly going out of his way to be helpful, and I didn't want him to think I was ungracious. I watched as she launched herself off the ground towards the shroud. Small electrical darts began flying off her body. It looked a little like water being shedded after a swim. Apparently she was going for a point-blank attack - that wasn't the way I would have done it, considering that a retaliatory strike for the Koffing was a very real possibility, but this did offer the most certainty of the Koffing being paralyzed. Furthermore, Dragonite wouldn't be in any danger from Specialle because her mindwave patterns would be very different to the Koffing's.

Thinking of Specialle, I looked back over to her. The purple glow and her shining circles were very bright now, so I could only hope the Future Sight would launch soon. Being a mental attack, there would be no direct physical repercussions. Instead, Specialle would instill fear, uncomfort, and panic into the Koffing's mind. She was particularly good at this, what with being a Ghost type and all. This would lock out the logic centre of the Koffing's brain. So while the Koffing wouldn't be physically weaker, his overall condition would take a drop, meaning he would still be made weaker.

I fingered an empty Park Ball in my lower right trouser pocket. Hopefully soon I could attempt a capture - Koffing was one of the Pokemon I had hoped to encounter here in the Abandoned Power Plant, and I had no intentions of letting it escape me.

I watched as blue sparks began to leap off of Dragonit's tough skin in preparation. Dragonite took one last breath before darting into the pitch black darkness, braving the unknown. As soon as Dragonite disappeared among the fog I heard a startled yelp from somewhere to my right as Koffing was struck by the wave of electrical energy. It fell down to the floor, but hovered up and faced it's opponents. Koffing looked rrather nervous, but I knew that Koffing were brave Pokemon and would be able to withstand a hit.

Suddenly the Koffing's eyes glazed over and steam stopped pouring out of the crater-like holes on his body. Koffing's face lined with concentration and he dropped to the floor, clearly the Future Sight attack was rather powerful. Koffing staggered upwards once more and I saw it's attention turn to the Pokeball in Jathan's hand. It was hard to tell how this particular Koffing felt about being captured.

"If you're going to catch it, now is the best opportunity," I said, knowing the Koffing wasn't capable of much more battling.

As Dee's Dragonite dived into the cloud of gray smoke, it began shedding electricity. Almost as soon as it started, I heard a strange yelp, and the Koffing fell out of the fog and onto the ground. It rolled around a little, being affected by the paralysis caused by Dragonite's Thunder Wave. Despite this, it did not stop the smoke pouring out of the craters on its body.

Eventually, it managed to start hovering back upwards, obviously aiming to get back into the smog. But it could not - Specialle's Future Sight had finally begun working. Its eyes opened wide and its pupils began jittering around. The smoke stopped wafting outwards from it and it fell onto the ground once more. With a huge amount of effort, it managed to rise once more into the air, but it couldn't get high enough to hide in the smog cloud. Rather strangely, it looked straight at me, ignoring Specialle. It's gaze lingered on my face for a moment before dropping to the Park Ball that was in my hand.

I watched the Koffing, as it barely managed to maintain the altitude it was at. This would probably be a good time to attempt a capture, I thought. It didn't look too wounded, but then again if I continued to attack I could accidentally knock it out. Furthermore, I was still very afraid that it would use Explosion or something to knock itself out.

No, this was the best time to attempt the capture. Dragonite had paralyzed it, and I needed to finish this battle before things went very wrong. I flicked the ball up into the air, and caught it confidently in my hand. I stepped forward, moving past Specialle. She looked at me, afraid the Koffing was going to spit acid at me or something, but I raised my hand slightly and she obediently stepped aside. I took one last look at the Koffing. It was still hovering at that height, panting with the exertion of maintaining the effort. I nodded at the Koffing, showing it that I respected it for the effort it had put into the battle, and then I threw the Park Ball overarm towards it. The camo-coloured sphere flipped and rotated as it flew through the air. I just hoped that my aim was true.

I watched as Dragonite rushed into the blackish dark fog in front of us. Within seconds, she was completely concealed within, invisible to everyone except Koffing. I found myself praying that she could successfully land her attack. I hoped that Koffing couldn’t defend himself before Dragonite hit. It was the surprised yelp of Koffing mixed with the crackling sound of electricity that reassured me that Dragonite had indeed been successful in her attack.

“Yes!” I said under my breath. Now, it would be a bit easier for Jathan to make his capture.

In almost an instant after I’d finished my small “celebration,” Koffing fell to the ground as if some invisible force had struck him on the head. My mind went back to the Future Sight attack that Jathan had used earlier. It must have struck just then. The attack would lower Koffing’s health even more. Jathan’s capture should be a breeze by now.

"If you're going to catch it, now is the best opportunity," our ranger said to Jathan.

I looked over to where my partner was standing. He was already holding a shiny red-and-white Pokeball in his hands. After raising his hand up a bit, his Dusknoir, Specialle, stood aside. Then, with a quick nod towards Koffing as a sort of gesture of respect, Jathan threw his Pokeball towards the Pokémon.

I wasn’t sure if the Pokeball would hit or not. I really didn’t see any reason why it shouldn’t. Koffing was really too weak to move. Whatever the outcome, Dragonite and I would be there to help.

    OOC: Gender of Koffing?

Buzz looked at his map, They should be here somewhere. Buzz looked thoroughly confused as he looked around the narrow path in the plant.

Then he heard a clunk on the floor just around the corner, Aha! With that Buzz ran off to his right and down another corridor of the plant, he came across another man running past him and pointing further up the path. After following the direction a little longer he came across two more men who were standing infront of a dark cloud of smoke. One of the two quickly threw a pokeball into the smoke.

As the ball dropped to the floor it shook thrice then pinged. "Well someone just caught a Poke Ball," Buzz said to the two men as he picked up the now still Ball. "I'm Jonathan, but you can call me Buzz, and I'll be taking you two through the plant! So which one of you caught this Pokemon? Also what was it, I guess I caught up moments too late"

Buzz slotted the ball into one of the pockets of his backpack. "Well either way, I guess we better be off." After a quick glance at the map, Buzz began to walk past the now fading smog and further down the path.

OOC: Male, please. And thank God someone finally decided to take this back up.

"Yes!" I yelled in delight. The Koffing hadn't managed to break out of the Poke Ball, which meant it now belonged to me! I was expecting the Ranger to walk over and pick it up, as Rangers did, but someone new did so.

"Well someone just caught a Poke Ball," the new guy said. I could just make out through the murky darkness that the speaker was wearing a Ranger uniform. I looked around for our old Ranger, but he was nowhere to be seen. Apparently, this guy was another replacement. Was the Park so short-staffed that every run needed five different Rangers to complete it?

"I'm Jonathan, but you can call me Buzz, and I'll be taking you two through the plant," our Ranger continued. "So which one of you caught this Pokemon? Also what was it, I guess I caught up moments too late."

Before I could answer, he pocketed the ball and said, "Well either way, I guess we better be off."

I quickly murmured congratulations and thanks to Specialle before returning her to her Poke Ball. I then hurried to catch up after Buzz, temporarily forgetting about my partner. I also remembered that I had to heal Dual of the poison running through his system, but it was delayed while he was in his ball and I didn't want to fall to far behind.

"My name is Jathan, by the way," I called out to Buzz.

[Oh, by the way, this is TLM. I've gotten my username changed back to rockman0. Also, glad to have you as our ranger. :)]

The Pokeball went rushing through the cloud of smoke in front of us. I could hear a small bump as it made contact. Then, after few seconds, I could hear a ping signaling that Koffing had been caught.

“Yes,” Jathan cried out in excitement. I only smiled.

“Well someone just caught a Poke Ball,” said a voice from behind.

I turned around to see another Ranger behind us. After looking in both directions, I realized that our previous ranger had left. How many was that now? I thought to myself. I wondered how many rangers we would go through before we actually finished this thing.

“I'm Jonathan, but you can call me Buzz, and I'll be taking you two through the plant,” the ranger continued. "So, which one of you caught this Pokémon? Also what was it, I guess I caught up moments too late.”

I opened my mouth to speak, but realized that Jathan was also about to say something. Before he could answer, however, the ranger continued talking.

“Well either way, I guess we better be off,” Buzz continued as he started to walk.

I heard Jathan whisper congratulations to his Dusknoir. Then, he returned her and his Gallade to their Pokeballs.

“My name’s Jathan, by the way,” he said to our new ranger.

“Ah, and I’m Dee,” I said afterwards.

I thanked Dragonite for her help and recalled her. Then, I continued walking after the two, with Luxray following close behind.

"I'm Jathan" The first one said.

"And I'm Dee" The second followed.

"Sorry didn't mean to cut you off, I just assumed you would both want to get on with your run. The records back at HQ suggest this run has been going on a while, hopefully we can rectify that." Buzz said as the two caught up. The party wandered through the corridors of the Power plant.

"Which one of did catch that last Pokemon?" Buzz asked the pair. He slowly walked forward waiting for the answer. Buzz looked down the corridor searching for more Pokemon.

The two trainers and ranger wandered into a nearby room, that led towards the main generator. As a side quest, Buzz had been instructed to report some odd activity in the plant.

The sound of a motor revving caught Buzz's attention, he found the source of the noise. An Elekid and an Electrode were using Thunderbolt attacks to power up a nearby machine.

"Well either of you interested in these two?" Buzz asked looking back at his two trainers.

"Sorry didn't mean to cut you off, I just assumed you would both want to get on with your run. The records back at HQ suggest this run has been going on a while, hopefully we can rectify that," Buzz said. I didn't really know what he meant, we'd only been in the Power Plant for a couple hours, but we'd had a lot of different Rangers so perhaps he was referring to work-hours or something.

"Which one of you caught that last Pokemon?" he asked us.

"That would be me," I replied, raising my right hand a little. I was very happy with the outcome of the last battle - a Koffing was a rare find, and even though they weren't spectacular one-on-one battlers I had a feeling when he evolved into a Weezing he'd be perfect for the large team and free-for-all battles that were rising in popularity back on the mainland.

As we continued walking, a low chugging sound filled the air. My partner and I followed Buzz into a side room, where two Pokemon were using electrical attacks to power up some kind of motorised machine. One was a small yellow humanoid - an Elekid, much like the one we had found previously. The other was a large spherical Pokemon coloured red and white. I recognised it as an Electrode - a Pokemon famed for its speed and explosive temperament.

"Well, either of you interested in these two?" Buzz asked us.

"I'm not, thanks," I replied quickly. I already had an Electivire - he was the younger brother of my older sister's Electivire, who was the backbone of her Gym. Furthermore, I was raising an Eevee who I hoped to evolve into a Jolteon - almost anything Electrode could do, Jolteon could do better.

I took a couple of steps backwards, silently displaying my intentions to leave the two wild Pokemon alone. They hadn't seen us yet, so there was a good chance of us escaping unharmed. I looked over at my partner. Unlike myself, he seemed to be after Pokemon he took a shine to as opposed to rare ones. If he wanted to try and capture one of them, then I would assist him. I carefully grasped my Swampert's Poke Ball, preparing to summon him to fight if needed.

THIS RP IS NO LONGER A TEAM RUN, THE ROCKMAN0 IS TOO BUSY SO CHAINY IS GOING IT ALONE.

"I'm not interested in these two," Chainy said, looking round at his friend. But was surprised to see that Dee was quickly looking through his bag muttering. He quickly pulled out a little booklet and flicked through the pages.

"Oh crap, I have to go!" Dee said, "You two carry on without me."

Buzz chuckled at the last comment, "Okay, River Tam here will teleport you to the main gates," Buzz replied as he released his Xatu from her Poké Ball.

Ok, I want you to teleport Dee here to the main gates and then get back here quickly, Buzz thought to his psychic Pokémon. She flew over to the trainer and in an instant the had vanished with a faint pink aura appearing around them.

Moments, later River appeared on Buzz's shoulder. "Well, I guess we should carry on our own then." Buzz said to his remaining trainer, "Come on lets keep it moving then plenty more Pokémon in the park."

Buzz led the way the door at the other side of the room. They entered into a similar room, but there were no generators here, just lots of tables with lots of computers. Buzz began to navigate his way through the tables, examining the map of the plant. He was heading towards the main generator, where strange incidents of power surges had been reported, and the Warden had asked him to investigate.

Suddenly a strange scraping noise came from behind them. Turning quickly he saw the Electrode from before following them. It fired off a warning Charge Beam that hit a nearby monitor, smashing the screen.

"Looks like Electrode wants to battle, you now." Buzz said.
