"Oh crap, I have to go!" my partner said. "You two carry on without me."

"Okay, River Tam will teleport you to the main gate," Buzz offered. I was confused about who this River Tam was, but Buzz opened a Poke Ball and a Xatu appeared in a flash of white light. It flew over to my familiar-seeming partner and they quickly disappeared. I noted with interest that the flash was pinkish as opposed to Gallade's blue.

The Xatu quickly returned in another pink flash, and we moved on into the plant. We moved past many computers and other broken down objects, and I had a feeling that Buzz was taking us somewhere. Suddenly, I heard a weird, semi-electrical noise behind me. I turned and saw the Electrode from before. Apparently, it had followed us. It fired a small warning shot of electricity at us, and the jolt smashed into a computer screen.

"Looks like the Electrode wants to battle you now," Buzz said to me.

"I hope not," I said fervently, "let's just try to move on. Maybe it just wants us gone." I wasn't a huge fan of Electrodes, and I was petrified of it exploding and taking out one of my Pokemon. I carefully pulled a Poke Doll out of my backpack, ready to give it to the Electrode if we couldn't escape.

"I hope not," Jathan said fervently, "let's just try to move on. Maybe it just wants us gone."

"I think you might be right, but lets make sure. River, lets use Confuse Ray." Buzz said quickly. The green bird flew up and landed on a near by monitor. She flapped her wings and then her eyes turned a pale purple, and a small dark ball bobbed its way towards the Poké Ball like Pokémon.

The orb hit the Pokémon and exploded in a cloud of purple smoke, the Electrodes eyes went foggy and it rolled in to a table.

"Okat, lets go!" Buzz said to his train as he broke into a run. He passed through the next door and ran though the grey corridor. Looking back he saw his trailing trainer, followed by River who was flying at a relaxed pace.

"AAAGH!" Buzz yelled, the scream was followed by a crash and a thud. A small hole in the path way had appeared, as Buzz had stepped on a covering tile. He fell few metres, the earthy sides of the hole cumbled down onto Buzz as his body brushed the sides. Buzz looked around the dark hole, it seemed to be the basement of the plant.

Looking around, Buzz spotted a metalic like large creature. It had seven red eyes in the center of its body. "Hey, Jathan! I'm fine and it turns out there is a Registeel down here. I'll ask River, to teleport you down here so you can get a photograph if you want. The Warden pays good money for photos of Legendary Pokémon," Buzz yelled up from the basement.

The steel type Pokémon appeared to be stuck in its position, but this was not unheard of for the Regi Pokémon

River, Teleport Jathan down here. Buzz thought via his psychic link to River.

"Do this, do that! I have to say, I have no idea how humans managed to end up being top of the food chain. I mean Pokémon are far more powerful. We could totally win if we revolted!" River replied.

"I think you might be right, but lets make sure. River, let's use Confuse Ray," Buzz said to his Xatu. The Xatu landed on a monitor and flapped its wings towards the Electrode. A dark orb flew in a low arc towards the Electrode, and it exploded like a smoke bomb. I was impressed - I'd never seen Confuse Ray used like that before.

"Okay, let's go!" Buzz shouted, and we all legged it through a side door and down a corridor. Suddenly, Buzz yelled in surprise and fell through the floor. I stopped, shocked. I peered into the hole - it appeared to be quite dark down there, and there wasn't as much random machinery littered everywhere.

"Hey, Jathan! I'm fine and it turns out there is a Registeel down here. I'll ask River, to teleport you down here so you can get a photograph if you want. The Warden pays good money for photos of Legendary Pokémon," Buzz called.

"Sounds good," I called back. I didn't add that Dual could teleport me down just as easy - if the Ranger was going to offer me help, I wasn't going to be rude and refuse it. The Xatu landed on my shoulder, and I felt the familiar jerking sensation that came with teleportation. I suddenly found myself in the lower level, staring the Registeel in the face. I gulped - even though Registeel wasn't an epic Legendary Pokemon, it was still pretty damn intimidating. This Pokemon could probably wreck every Pokemon I had with me without trying hard at all.

I took a few steps back, and used my camera to take a picture of the Registeel. I made sure that as much of the Pokemon was in the shot as possible. Once I pressed the button, I stowed the camera back in my pocket and turned to Buzz.

"Where do we go now?" I asked him. I could feel the Registeel's eyes drilling into my back - I was quite keen to move on.

The pair appeared by Buzz's side within moments, Buzz pointed out the legendary Pokémon to Jathan. Jathan proceeded to fumble around for his camera then take a few moments to line the shot up.

The flash lit up the basement very briefly. Walls lined with old machinery appeared for the briefest of moments. Buzz quickly looked to the hulking Golem like Pokémon, it appeared to be waking from its slumber. Buzz knew the Regi trio could lay dormant for centuries, and that they were incredibally powerful.

"Where do we go now?" Jathan asked.

"I think now would be a good time for fleeing, wouldn't you agree, River?" Buzz said quickly. Teleport us out of here, please.

"Fine, but I get to have a day off after this." River replied telepathically.

"That's what you think." Buzz said under his breath.

"You realise, you think whatever you say, and I hear whatever you thing. Whatever you think!" River replied quickly, as she flapped quickly and the pale pink aura expanded from her body to around the two trainers.

Within moments the trio were back up on the path in front of the hole. "Well that was close, let's keep moving." Buzz said, quickly checking his map of the plant to ensure he was still heading to the main generator. He still wasn't sure what they would come across, and he knew he should have probably asked Jathan if he was okay with the side mission, but there was still time for that.

They turned the corner at the end of the corridor only to be greeted by a yellow, fox-like Pokémon. It's jagged white mane had small bolts of electricity dancing through it. "A Jolteon, a very fast, and popular Electric type," Buzz anounced to his trainer. "Care to try and capture it?"

Behind me, the Registeel started to groan, and little flecks of concrete began to rain down us. It appeared the Registeel was waking up, which means we needed to make ourselves very scarce.

"I think now would be a good time for fleeing, wouldn't you agree, River?" Buzz's asked his Xatu.

I wasn't included in the conversation, but from what I could interpret by body language and Buzz's muttering, River Tam was snarking at Buzz like usual. She raised her wings and the pink mist encircled us again. I got the usual case of tunnel vision and then we found ourselves back up on the path, on the other side of the hole. The shaking coming from the Registeel was cooling down - that was something to be glad for.

We moved on down the corridor. Buzz kept checking his map - apparently we were traveling somewhere. I decided not to ask, after all he could be taking me to a place where there was some sweet-ass Wild Pokemon.

We turned a corner in the corridor and saw a Jolteon. It was growling at a small hole in the lower part of the wall. It had probably chased a rat in there or something. Small sparks of electricity jumped between its spiky fur - it was almost mesmeric to watch. The Jolteon saw us out of the corner of its eyes and greeted us with a bark.

"A Jolteon, a very fast, and popular Electric type. Care to try and capture it?" Buzz asked me.

"No thanks, I've got an Eevee back at home who I hope will evolve into a Jolteon soon," I replied. "I'd like to just move on, if that's alright." I got the Poke Doll from before out, just in case the Jolteon turned out to be opposed to us leaving.

"No thanks, I've got an Eevee back at home who I hope will evolve into a Jolteon soon," Jathan replied. "I'd like to just move on, if that's alright." Buzz nodded and began to try and walk into a nearby door which according to his map would lead them through a small office and back out onto the main corridor.

As Buzz was about to pass through the door, the Jolteon had turned away seemingly bored of the pair, when music broke out from Buzz's pocket.

    Back in black,
    I hit the sack,
I've been too long I'm glad to be back,
    Yes I'm, let loose,
    From the noose,
    That's kept me hanging about
I keep looking at the sky
    'Cause it's gettin' me high

"Oh crap," Buzz yelled fumbling for his pda, "stupid email's, stupid ringtone." Buzz quickly shut the volume off, before looking back at the Jolteon. It was now snarling at the pair, the electricity that was dancing across its fur was growing steadily larger.

Jathan quickly grabbed a Pokédoll from his bag, items always kept by rangers for emergency, but sold now in the shop. Throwing the doll across the corridor, the jolteon was distracted momentarily.

"NOW!" Buzz yelled, pulling Jathan into the small dark office, and slamming the door hard behind them. Tearing noises came from behind the door as Buzz took a moment to catch his breath. "Well lets see what is so urgent."

    From [email protected]
Hey Buzz – I'm in Outpost Control and the electrical grid is going insane in the Plant. The Boss says there hasn't been any major activity there in years, but the surges now are making Outpost Six's computers freak out. Keep your eye out. And be careful. -Ivy

"You think I don't know that, the boss already told me!" Buzz yelled at the pda slamming it back in his bag.

All of a sudden a Golbat flew from the cupboard in the right hand corner of the office. It was curiously coincidental as Ivy's partner Pokémon Haxbat was the evolved form of Golbat. "Wow, they don't waste much time, care to try and capture a Golbat, Jathan?"

We began moving towards a door that looked like it would lead into a small office. I was actually very happy to be moving on - my Eevee wasn't going to evolve for a long time, and I was starting to have second thoughts about leaving the Jolteon behind. I wanted to get moving before I decided to change my mind.

Suddenly, some kind of rock music started blaring out of Buzz's pocket. He immediately switched it off, but the damage had been done. Instead of going back to the hole in the wall, the Jolteon was now growling at us, and the passive charges dancing around on its fur grew in size. Reacting on instinct, I threw the Poke Doll in my hand towards the Jolteon. The Jolteon was distracted - it watched the Clefairy-shaped object arc through the air.

"Now!" Buzz yelled as the Jolteon chased after the doll. He grabbed my arm and pulled me through the door before shutting it. I listened at the keyhole - I could clearly hear the Jolteon ripping the doll to shreds.

"Well, let's see what is so urgent," Buzz muttered as he took another look at his PDA. He scrutinized it for a few seconds, before yelling something and shoving it into his bag.

Randomly, I noticed a rattling in a cupboard. I had begun moving towards it when the doors exploded outwards and a Golbat clumsily flew out, circling the ceiling.

"Wow, they don't waste much time, care to try and capture a Golbat, Jathan?" Buzz asked me.

"No thanks," I replied. "I already have a Crobat back home, and one bat is more than enough to creep out my big brother."

I quickly dropped my backpack onto the floor and pulled out one of my Poke Dolls, preparing to throw it at the Golbat if it stopped us from leaving.

OOC: I kind of controlled Jathan a little bit to keep it moving, I hope you don't mind. Just RP that you have time inbetween the various questions and reply accordingly.

Buzz chuckled, as he heard Jathan's reasoning for not capturing the Golbat. "Your brother wouldn't happen to be called, James? There is a big girl of a Park Ranger, who is terrified of bats, called James."

Buzz took a step forwards towards the door at the other side of the small office. He hoped that the the Golbat would leave them be. Jathan wasn't so confident, as his bag dropped to the floor, and another Poké Doll was retrieved from his bag. Buzz was wrong.

The wild Golbat flew at the door, and began emitting a high pitched noise. It cut right though Buzz, sending shivvers right accross his body. He clamped his hands over his ears to protect himself from the Supersonic attack. "Jathan, are you going to keep hugging that doll, or are you going to actually use it?" Buzz yelled at his trainer.

Buzz saw the pink blur hurtle through the room into the open cupboard, where Golbat had come from. The noise ceased, and the gullable golbat chased after the doll, flying straight into the cupboard. Buzz grabbed the nearby office chair, and pushed the back of the chair under the handle. Buzz leant back against the cupboard and exhaled. "Well the wild Pokémon sure like us today, don't they?"

A few moments later, Buzz set off through the previously blocked door, he came upon the main corridor, a sign on the wall indicated that the main generator, and its control room were down the next left. Perfect, I can finally figure out what is causing all these electrical problems.

Turning to his trainer, Buzz had decided to let him in on his side mission. "Hey, Jathan, so you probably heard me shouting at my PDA earlier, well I have been given a mission by my Boss, and I was wondering if you would be willing to assist me on this," Buzz said, "basically, the Plant is meant to have been out of use for some time, and the power outing has always been minimal. The Ranger outposts all run on Solar power or Pokémon Power now, but recently some of the ouposts electrical outposts have been going crazy. We have established that this is due to surges of power from the old power cables from the Plant. My job, along with escorting you on your journey round the park, is to investigate the surges and hopefully stop them, whatever the cause."

Jathan nodded, and Buzz set of at a run down the corridor, skidding round the corner up in front of him. The corridor ran for about five hundred metres, at the end of which was a door denoted, "Generator; DANGER - HIGH VOLTAGE!" Buzz smiled, he loved a good challenge, and he had a feeling that there was a huge one to come.

Buzz pulled open the door to the main generator and was looking into a huge room, with long coated cables trailing along the floors and walls. Advanced computers lined the walls, flashing lights and sparks of electricity ran across the consoles. In the centre of the room stood a great metallic machine, there was lots of cables running from the machine to the various computers. Buzz covered his eyes as great flashes of bright, yellow light filled the room. A yellow bird took flight from behind the machine, violent bursts of electricity emitting from it into the machine. Each burst of energy sent more lights flashing accross the room, small fires started, as the computers overloaded.

"Holy crap, Zapdos is causing it!" Buzz yelled, looking up at the Legendary bird Pokémon, he saw trickles of blood running down one of its wings. "It's badly hurt, we have to try, and get it to calm down so we can solve this mess. Electro, I think you will be needed for this." Buzz pulled a Poké Ball from his belt and released his Electivire. River, wherever you are right now, get here now I need you.

Moments later, River Tam appeared in a pink aura, fluttering infront of Buzz. "Where the hell have you been, oh well doesn't matter. I want you to Teleport to Ivy, and tell her that the Electrical problem is a hurt Zapdos in the Main generator, It looks like a bullet hole in the Zapdos' wing, so we may have some Poachers in the park." Buzz quickly said to River, "Oh, and tell her to get word out to Boss-Sama too."

For once, River chose not to complain sensing the urgency in Buzz's voice, and quickly vanished in her signature pink aura. "Well for now, Jathan, Electro, it looks like we're on our own." Buzz said, staring out into the insane scene before him.

OOC: Note you can take a photo, but I will make it so that the encounter ends after i do some stuff, and then we will continue to deal the scenario so you can get some characters up, I have a feeling you will want them for the encounter after Zapdos. Also if Rockman was still with us, this would have actually been Zapdos and Raikou, as you both rolled legendaries for this encounter.

OOC: This post is massive enough as it is, I'll just write about up to the picture and talk about the wounded wing next post. Just keep going, and godmod me if need be.

"Your brother wouldn't happen to be called James? There is a big girl of a Park Ranger, who is terrified of bats, called James," Buzz said with a laugh, watching the Golbat flap around the room.

I laughed in response. "Yeah, that's my big bro. He isn't scared of bugs or snakes or girls, but bats freak him way out. It's all because of something that happened when we were young-"

I was suddenly interrupted from recounting the story by the Golbat. It began screeching wildly and flying even more erratically. It looked like it was starting to panic and like it would attack soon. It smashed into the door, using its wings and feet to find a purchase. It then opened its abnormally large mouth completely open, and the screech became even more abrasive. I covered my ears with the Poke Doll as Buzz clapped his hands over his.

"Jathan, are you going to keep hugging that doll, or are you going to actually use it?" Buzz yelled. The only reason I knew he was yelling was because I could see his mouth open wide - I couldn't really hear him over the noise made by the Golbat.

I panicked, and threw the doll away from us, hoping that the Golbat would follow it. Luckily for me, it did, and the doll landed squarely in the cupboard it had burst from. Buzz quickly grabbed a broken chair from the ground and shoved it up against the handle. The cupboard rattled menacingly and the already demolished chair began to crack further, but I knew it would hold for an hour or so while we got out of the room.

Buzz exhaled. "Well the wild Pokémon sure like us today, don't they?" he asked me, grinning. He tentatively opened the door to check for the Jolteon, but it wasn't there. We left the room and began walking down yet another corridor. Suddenly, Buzz began speaking out of the blue.

"Hey, Jathan, you probably heard me shouting at my PDA earlier. Well, I have been given a mission by my Boss, and I was wondering if you would be willing to assist me on this. Basically, the Plant is meant to have been out of use for some time, and the power outing has always been minimal. The Ranger outposts all run on solar power or Pokémon Power now, but recently some of the outposts electrical outputs have been going crazy. We have established that this is due to surges of power from the old power cables from the Plant. My job, along with escorting you on your journey round the Plant, is to investigate the surges and hopefully stop them, whatever the cause."

"I'd love to help out however I can," I said while nodding. I'd love my big bro to hear that his little brother had helped save the Park.

We began running down the corridor, and it widened out. It was long and high - cables wound around the struts near the ceiling, and they swayed gently as sparks leaped from cable to cable. I was about to ask Buzz to take a break when the end of the corridor finally loomed into sight. Set in the end was a large steel door with a sign over it. The sign read Generator; DANGER - HIGH VOLTAGE!

Buzz grinned and pushed open the door. Long rows of computers and other esoteric machines littered the room, all made of plastic, metal and flashing lights. In the center of the room was a huge metal box with many cables coming out of it. Suddenly, yellow flashes of light filed the room, and I heard a birdlike screech. A huge yellow bird with spiky feathers took flight from behind the machine, landing on one of the taller machines. It was screeching and emitting an ass-load of electricity. Without even thinking, I pulled out the camera and took a shot of Zapdos as it spread its wings and emitted the largest amount of electricity yet.

Jathan seemed to be on board for the mission, the pair stood at the top of stairs looking down at the carnage. Buzz was disgusted at how people could do this to such a magnificent creature. He heard a shutter click, and then had to close his eyes as a second bright light flooded the room.

"Jathan, what the hell are you taking a picture for?" Buzz yelled.

    "Evidence?" Jathan replied looking sheepishly.

The Zapdos didn't seem to take to kindly to the photography either, it began flying in a circle, making screeches that could raise the dead. The electricity in its body still overloaded, as wild bolts of electricity were fired off into the machine.

"Okay, Electro, I want you to run and try and absorb the excess energy, that Zapdos is firing off. I know it is a lot of energy, but I trust that you can take it."

The yellow and black, electric type thrust itself over the hand rail and charged towards the out of control legend. Buzz watched as it dashed in front of the overloading energy to prevent the main generator from overloading, and possibly exploding.

"Right, Jathan you see that fire extinguisher over there. I need you to take that and start putting out those consoles," Buzz instructed his trainer. Buzz ran the opposite way, down the stairs. Buzz saw the yellow bolts of electricity being absorbed into Electro's body, and its ability activating, over and over again. "That is great, Electro, keep it up!"

Buzz rushed behind the Zapdos, and ducked out of the way, as a bolt of lightning struck the ground metres away from his position. He reached the main generator in the centre of the room. Looking at the complex knobs, and buttons, he was at a loss for what to do. River, wherever you are, ask Ivy to try and find the manual for the main generator, I'm sure there is one somewhere in the outposts. Buzz hoped River would hear that.

Dodging his charging Electivire, that had dashed in front of him to absorb a bolt of electricity that was about to hit him, Buzz ran back to the other consoles. He began flicking all the power switches off, in the hopes that would help. He knew the main generator wouldn't shut down, but if he could get the small ones turned off, at least any wild Pokémon roaming these parts couldn't get shocked or burnt.

"You doing okay over there, Jathan?" Buzz quickly pulled off another Poké Ball from his belt, "Herbacious, out you come!" A green plant erupted from the ball, as Buzz's Roserade, let out a cry of relief as it finally got to stretch its legs.

Buzz looked around and saw a shadow burst from one of the consoles, and a faint flash of orange as it darted from the room through the other entrance, Buzz would follow it once Zapdos, was dealt with.

"Holy crap, Zapdos is causing it!" Buzz yelled. "It's badly hurt. we have to try and get it to calm down so we can solve this mess. Electro, I think you will be needed for this."

I couldn't see anything wrong with the Zapdos, but it couldn't be pissed off for no reason, so I decided to follow Buzz's lead. He dropped a Poke Ball on the ground, and an Electivire emerged. Seconds later, River Tam reappeared. Buzz conferred with the Xatu quickly, and she disappeared inside another pink flash.

"Well for now, Jathan, Electro, it looks like we're on our own," Buzz said expansively, looking out on the scene of destruction around us. He then turned around and saw me, still gripping the camera. "Jathan, what the hell are you taking a picture for?" he yelled at me.

I shrugged. "Uh, evidence?" I offered lamely.

The Zapdos took flight again, winging around in circles and making the most unholy racket I have ever heard. The screeches sounded like a cross between an electric drill and an electrical whining.

Buzz turned to the Electivire and said; "Okay Electro, I want you to run and try to absorb the excess energy that Zapdos is firing off. I know it is a lot of energy, but I trust that you can take it."

As the Electivire ran off towards the largest machine in the room, Buzz turned to me. "Right, Jathan you see that fire extinguisher over there? I need you to take that and start putting out those consoles," he said.

I nodded, and ran over to the fire extinguisher. I twisted at it and bashed at it, trying to get it off, but I couldn't. I groaned in frustration and tapped a Poke Ball on my belt. Smash, my Swampert, appeared in a bright white flash. He called a greeting.

"Not now buddy," I said to him, putting out my hand. "Can you get this fire extinguisher off the wall for me?"

He yapped, and smashed a powerful forearm into the wall. He made a large crater in the concrete, but the metal braces on the wall folded easily, and I picked up the extinguisher, which thankfully was not damaged. I ran over to the burning consoles, waving Smash over with me as I did so. Together, we began putting the fires out - me using the foamy fire retardant, and Smash using the powerful blasts of water. He soon learned to control his output, though - he smashed a few computers before learning to tone it down. I winced, and hoped Buzz wasn't watching.

"You doing okay over there, Jathan?" I heard my Ranger call out as if he could read my mind. I winced again.

"Yeah, we're doing fine," I called back, "almost all of the consoles here are out."

I didn't think it would matter if they were partially destroyed - after all, the Plant was largely defunct. Half of the stuff that still worked in here was left on because the Wild Pokemon played with it, and the other half was too dangerous to turn off / dismantle.

Buzz raced around flicking off various machines very conscious of Electro's energy absorption, although Electivire's ability meant it absorbed electrical energy and converted it to speed, Buzz knew that too much could overload Electro, making him very ill.

Buzz heard Jathan giving him the all clear from his side of the room, not that it helped Buzz. Sparks flew dangerously close to Buzz, as the remaining energy surged through the battered old machines.

"Herbacious, I want you to use Aromatherapy, focus on Zapdos," Buzz said to the plant like Pokémon. "It won't heal him, but hopefully it will slow the bleeding."

The Roserade stepped forward, raising its rose like hands and began to twirl. A pleasant cloud began to fill the room, the green vapour spread quickly; soon Zapdos was enveloped in the soothing smoke. Buzz looked hopefully; he wanted to get Zapdos calm enough, so he could heal it when River returned.

"Zapdos, it’s ok, we aren't here to harm you. I'm a ranger, and my job is to protect you. Please, calm down."

Buzz saw the yellow bird look at him briefly, its eyes screamed in agony. Buzz cringed, he hated seeing what damage people could do to these magnificent creatures.

Soon the soothing vapours appeared to be working the expulsions of energy became less frequent and less powerful. Buzz smiled at his Roserade, I really should train him, he is a valuable friend and Pokémon.

"Ok, excellent work, Herb, now use Grass Whistle, so we can put Zapdos to sleep, that way, when River appears, we can heal it properly then release it," Buzz said loudly.

Looking over at Jathan, he saw a large, blue Pokémon. Swampert's were very popular Pokémon these days, their fantastic typing made them very useful. Buzz was pleased he had asked Jathan to help, this job might just have been too much for him to handle alone, as he thought this a high pitched, but calming, whistle had filled the generator room. Buzz's eyes began to droop, but he snapped out as the sound began to quiet for him. Roserade was focusing the whistle at Zapdos. Zapdos' movement became slower; it fluttered down to the ground and landed in a heap. One of its wing splayed out, the bullet hole still oozing crimson. Its body gave one; last, unconcious expulsion of energy, as an electric bolt was fired high into the room, before fading.

    "Excellent, now we just nee-"

"When, don't you need me, Buzz," River interrupted, as she flashed back into the room. ”So, Ivy, said she would get on that immediately, and with regards to the generator you have to input the following code in order to get full power shut down: ‘D729JWW12’.

“Excellent work, now go heal Zapdos, while it is still asleep,” Buzz said, as he rushed over to the main console and began typing furiously. The generator let out a groan, as it shut down; soon enough all the sub consoles began to power down as the charge dissipated. The main generator room began to return to simple order.

River flew over to the fallen Legendary Pokémon, and began to flap its wings, a star erupted then fell upon Zapdos. The bullet wound began to heal and its wing tucked itself back in the Zapdos’ body.

“Well, there is a little side exit just up ahead, we should take Zapdos outside before waking it,” Buzz said, he then instructed Electivire to lift up the Pokémon. “Okay, Jathan, it looks as if our work here is done, though I’m going to have some horrendous paper work to fill out when I get back. Thanks for all your help; I couldn’t have done it without you! Oh, and we will get back to your journey through the plant, once Zapdos is up and flying again, ok?”

I sprayed the last of the foam inside the canister on the last console. To be honest, I didn't know why I was worried about Smash destroying the computers with his Hydro Pump - blasting them with the retardant would be wrecking them just as effectively.

When the extinguisher was empty, I dropped it onto the ground, where it made a clanging sound and gently rolled away. Smash padded over and rubbed up against me, getting my clothes all damp. I didn't mind though - I hugged him around his neck and thanked him for a job well done before returning him to his Poke Ball. I then turned around to see what Buzz was doing.

The first thing I noticed was a large flower-like Pokemon that seemed to have a large amount of innate grace and poise. It walked towards the large machine, which the Zapdos was circling. It moved like a salsa dancer - no part of its body was static, it all moved and flowed like a rushing river.

"Herbacious, I want you to use Aromatherapy. Focus on Zapdos," Buzz said to the graceful Pokemon. "It won't heal him, but hopefully it will slow the bleeding."

As I watched the Pokemon point its petal-wreathed hands towards the ailing Legendary Bird, I scratched my head, trying to remember the name of the species. The petals on Herbacious' wrists began to rotate, and a green-coloured mist began wafting towards the Zapdos. Soon there was a large cloud that covered almost the entire ceiling. As I randomly remembered that the Pokemon was probably a Roserade, and that it evolved using a Shiny Stone, Zapdos began to slow down, not seeming as frantic. It launched less energy, which Buzz's Electivire no doubt appreciated. Seeing this, Buzz stepped forward.

"Zapdos, it’s okay, we aren't here to harm you. I'm a Ranger, and my job is to protect you. Please, calm down," he called.

I wasn't sure that the Zapdos had acknowledged or even heard Buzz's shout, but Buzz's facial features softened so I figured he knew something I didn't. There wasn't really anything I could do to help, so I just watched the Zapdos through my Aura Reader and kept my hands on my belt, ready to summon my Pokemon at a moment's notice.

Buzz turned back to the Roserade. "Okay, excellent work Herb, now use Grasswhistle so we can put Zapdos to sleep. That way, when River appears, we can heal it properly then release it," he said.

Herbacious nodded, and began to whistle a haunting yet piercing tune. I began to feel sleepy, and I realised that the Roserade was causing it. I dug my fingernails into the underside of my arm, using the pain to keep me awake. Finally, Zapdos keened loudly and fired one last spurt of electricity before fluttering to the ground in front of us. Its eyes were closed, but I could see its muscles bunching up in pain. My eyes wandered over the magnificent beasts' body, and I could see on one of its splayed, pointy wings what looked suspiciously like a bullet hole.

"Excellent, now we just need-" Buzz started, but he was interrupted by the sudden reappearance of his Xatu. They shared a quick telepathic conversation - I could recognise them because Dual and I had them all the time. Once they were done, Buzz walked over to the large machine and River Tam flew over to the sleeping Zapdos. As Buzz pressed buttons on a heavily damaged keyboard, River Tam landed and held her wings out over the wound. She shook them vigourously, and a small multicoloured star-like objects fell onto the hole. It kinda of reminded me of a small mine from Minesweepers in appearance, except it was brightly glowing all the colours of the rainbow.

The star's points extended, hooking into the Zapdos' flesh. The body of the star then expanded until the hole was completely filled, and gradually the glow faded away to reveal perfectly healthy flesh. It hadn't returned the spindly yellow feathers, but as we had seen it didn't need them to fly and they would grow back naturally soon anyway.

“Well, there is a little side exit just up ahead. We should take Zapdos outside before waking it,” Buzz said after walking back over. "Electro, pick up the Zapdos would you?"

He then turned to me and said “Okay, Jathan, it looks as if our work here is done, though I’m going to have some horrendous paper work to fill out when I get back. Thanks for all your help; I couldn’t have done it without you! Oh, and we will get back to your journey through the plant, once Zapdos is up and flying again, okay?”

"Yeah, that's fine with me, I was glad to help," I replied, meaning every word of it. As Electro picked up the Legendary Pokemon, I tapped a Poke Ball and Specialle re-emerged. She floated over to the Zapdos, giving Electro a nod of greeting, and then helped to carry it towards the exit.

As we walked, I pondered the nature of Rangers. If I had come across a wounded Zapdos like that, I couldn't say that I wouldn't try to capture it. In fact, I probably would. Rangers obviously had to be special people - they put their own lives and dreams behind the interests of the National Park. That's why I could never be a Ranger - but I knew that those who are are certainly wonderful people.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed. I pulled it out of my pocket, feeeling confused - I'd been clear to everyone not to call me while I was on the island. I looked at the caller ID - it was James. I noticed that the subject said "Yo Buzzer", so I figured it was probably a mistake, but my curiosity got the better of me. I opened the message as I took a swig of water from my bottle.

I immediately spat the water out. The message was nothing but pictures, wonderful pictures. I wasn't entirely sure how James had got a hold of these - they seemed to be of a lady in tight clothes, and in each picture she got progressively more naked. The last picture was hard to look at - it was either the lady's chest or rear end, I wasn't sure which.

I started blushing furiously. "Umm, Buzz, I think this is for you," I said in a high-pitched voice as I handed him the phone. Apparently, not all Rangers are wonderful people.

Electro let out a grunt as he heaved the great electric bird into the air. Its wings had returned to a normal position, thanks to River's move. Buzz smiled as he and his Electivire walked to the door.

"Umm, Buzz, I think this is for you," Jathan said in a high pitched voice from behind Buzz. Buzz turned around raising his eyebrows.

"What? Why would someone be messaging me on your phone?" Buzz asked as he took the phone from Jathan. "Hey, Electro, you set Zapdos outside while I deal with this." Buzz pointed to the door before looking at the phone.

Electro carefully pushed open the door with his back, mindful of knocking the legendary Pokémon. The harsh sunlight rushed into the generator room, its great beams visible through the remaining dust and smoke from the calamity that had befallen there.

Buzz glanced down at the mobile phone in his hand, quickly scanning the subject of the message. Sure enough, it was addressed to him, and was from James. Buzz opened the message to the image of the very attractive lady, he raised his eyebrows, his smile grew as he scrolled down the message.

"Daaaamn," Buzz said once he reached the end of the message, looking up at Jathan's face, he proceeded to burst out laughing. "He must have sent it to you by mistake, that or he knew you would turn a brighter shade of red than a tomato."

    Buzz quickly whipped out his own phone and begun typing a response;
    To James;
    Hey James,
DAAAAMN she fine! I hope you realise you sent that to your little brother, although for some reason I don't think he appreciated it, as much as I did, what's up with that?
On an unrelated note, I should point out that we appear to have some poachers in the park, they shot Zapdos up in the Plant, but I got it calmed down. With some help from your bro. I warned Ivy, and asked her to tell Boss-sama, but yeah quicker the word gets out the better!
    Buzz

Buzz put the phone back in his pocket, and passed Jathan's back. He quickly checked out side the side door and watched happily as the Zapdos took flight, circling the plant and disappearing. He then proceeded to return Electro, and Herbacious to their Poké Balls.

"Well then, I have a suspicious feeling that I saw a particularly rare Pokémon flee from here, while we were saving Zapdos. What do you say we get on its tail? You never know what we might encounter," Buzz said with an ambitious glint in his eyes.

With that Buzz walked away from the side door leading outside, and headed towards another door that led back to the main corridor of the plant. Buzz quickly checked his map to make sure that this path would lead them out of the plant as they were nearing the end of their journey.

"What? Why would someone be messaging me on your phone?" Buzz asked me as he took the phone.

"Uhhh, I think he sent it to me my mistake," I said. ALthough I wouldn't be surprised if he did it on purpose just to brag to two people at once, I added mentally.

"Hey, Electro, you set Zapdos outside while I deal with this," Buzz said to his Electivire before focusing on the screen. Electro used his back to open the sliding door, and rays of sunlight began shining into the room. The light revealed motes of dust floating around the room that I hadn't seen before, testament to the destruction we had just stopped. Once the door was open all the way, Specialle and Electro carried the Zapdos out, careful not to bump it into anything and wake it.

I looked back over to Buzz. I noticed that his reaction to the message was very different to mine - as my face got progressively redder as I scrolled down, Buzz's eyebrows shot up and his grin grew wider.

"Daaaamn," Buzz breathed in wonder when he had read the entire message. He looked up at me and started laughing, probably because of my beet-red face. "He must have sent it to you by mistake, that or he knew you would turn a brighter shade of red than a tomato."

"Either one seems equally likely," I muttered underneath my breath as I took the phone back from Buzz. He immediately pulled out his own and started typing a reply - I wanted to sidle over and peek at his response, but I wasn't game enough.

He finished texting and slipped the phone into his pocket, still with a big grin on his face. I followed him through the door into the outside. I had wondered why there would be a direct opening into the main generator room, and here was my answer - we were standing on the raised part of an outside docking bay that presumably once allowed truck to pick up / drop off power coils or something. Now, however, weeds grew through the cement and there were potholes and scorch marks everywhere.

Electro and Specialle carefully placed the large yellow bird in the middle of the docking bay, where it had plenty of room to move. The bird groaned as it started to wake, and the two Pokemon hurriedly backed away as it sleepily got onto its feet. When it was completely awake, it checked its wing. Finding it completely healed, it screeched happily and took to the air using its powerful wings. It circled the docking bay once, then flew off towards the Woods.

I looked over at Buzz - the smile was still on his face, but it wasn't a testosterone-fuelled grin, it was the gentle smile of a person who had performed a good deed for no tangible reward. He pulled out two Poke Balls and returned his Electivire and Roserade. I did the same with Specialle, thanking her as I did so.

"Well then, I have a suspicious feeling that I saw a particularly rare Pokémon flee from here while we were saving Zapdos. What do you say we get on its tail? You never know what we might encounter," Buzz said encouragingly.

"Sounds good." I nodded. "I'm not particularly averse to encountering rare Pokemon."

"I bet not." Buzz grinned as he led me through a smaller side door that lead away from the main generator. I wasn't sure why we were going a different route if we were tailing a specific Pokemon, but Buzz had his map out so I didn't want to argue. I figured he knew what he was doing.

"Well then, I have a suspicious feeling that I saw a particularly rare Pokémon flee from here while we were saving Zapdos. What do you say we get on its tail? You never know what we might encounter," Buzz said encouragingly.

"Sounds good." Jathan nodded. "I'm not particularly averse to encountering rare Pokemon."

"I bet not," Buzz grinned as he led Jathan through a smaller side door that lead away from the main generator. Buzz glanced up from the map and looked each way down the corridor. He wasn't entirely sure which way to go so took a stab in the dark and headed up the path that lead to the exit. It wasn't a particularly bad choice, all paths eventually circled round in the plant.

Buzz looked ahead and saw a flash of light come from round the corner up ahead. Buzz smiled, "Looks like we will come across our mystery Pokémon sooner than I could have hoped."

Buzz set off at a jog once more, the thrill of the chase was one of the things that drove him to become a ranger. He felt even better when at the plant, always having an affinity with electric types. Electro was his starter, and recently he had taken the vacant position of the Electric Dojo leader over on the mainland.

Buzz turned the corner, his grin faded as he was greeted by an empty corridor. Only a red vending machine could be seen, "Damn, did you see that flash of light? Or are my eyes going crazy?" Buzz said as he turned to Jathan. "Oh well, might as well keep walking down here."

Buzz set off once more at a slow place, all elation of the chase had drifted away. River fluttered around Buzz's head now that she had caught up. She landed upon his shoulders as she so often did.

"Hey, doofus. That vending machine isn't just a vending machine, look," River said. Buzz sighed and turned around back to the red machine, only to discover the panels on the side were now pale blue. Hovering before him, was the very rare and curious Pokémon. Buzz had use of one at the Dojo, but it belonged to the Dojo league and only followed him as part of his contract.

The orange Pokemon surrouded by a blue aura of electricity, small blue bolts danced across the plasma like body.

"Wow, looks like you are the lucky trainer, not everyone gets to encounter a Rotom. Do you wish to battle it?" Buzz asked his young trainer.

OOC: Okay, so I apologise up front. This post is STUPID, but I wanted to make sure that I have the MCR when the time comes for a capture, and also because I want to prove that I can write abusively long posts if I want to as well. In fact, this thing is so long I'mma tl;dr it for you so you don't have to read it.

TL;DR: Yes, I want to fight the Rotom. I will use my Dusknoir Specialle to fight it, and she will open with Will-o-Wisp then follow it up with Payback.

We moved quickly through the plant’s angular corridors. Buzz seemed to be chasing something, but I had no idea what or how. I looked at my watch – I HAD to catch a ferry back today. Mum and Dad were going to be getting a new shipment of Pokemon Eggs in, and they had promised that I could try raising a few of them, to see if I had any talent as a Breeder. If I didn’t get back in time, I wouldn’t be able to help unload them, and I’d be failing in my duties right from the word go. I knew that I still had a few of Pokemon encounters left before my exploration was done, but I also knew that I might need to leave early. I didn’t really have time to stuff around chasing some rare Pokemon I had barely even seen.

It was hard to explain my desire to become a breeder. I liked learning and education, and I wanted to help others become so. Since the world largely revolves around Pokemon, I decided that the best kind of people to teach and raise would be the Pokemon themselves. Some of the best Pokemon used in the professional battle circuit used Daycare moves, like Infernape carrying Thunderpunch and Salamence carrying Dragon Dance. They say that these moves are passed down through the genetic material of the mother and the father, and while this is true, a Pokemon requires careful raising and teaching or they might not be able to access the theoretical possibility of the move itself. This theory of possibility intrigues me, and I also like helping people out so to me being a Breeder seems like destiny. The only problem was that I’m not sure that I would be able to follow in my brothers’ footsteps.

In my family, all of my siblings had gone on to become important people, and a Breeder could hardly be called important in the grand scheme of things. The thought of my family reminded me of my siblings. My oldest brother was named Jakk, and he had been the Fighting Dojo Sensei during the year-long competition on the mainland. He had an impressive streak of victories, and luckily for him the Fighting-typed Veilstone Gym had become vacant just before the Dojo Competition ended, and the Sinnoh Region League Organiser had extended an invitation to Jakk for him to take over the Gym. So, now, Jakk was living in Sinnoh, running the Veilstone Gym. I wasn’t really surprised – out of all of us, Jakk was always the most task-oriented of us, and it was fairly obvious, even from a young age, that Jakk was going to go places in life.

Next in line was James. He was a bit of a free spirit. I knew that Mum and Dad had worried about him a lot when he was a teenager – he hadn’t done well in school, and strangely he hadn’t really been interested in Pokemon battling. The old folks had been considering sending him to a psychiatrist or something, to see if he had any debilitating fears or anything that stopped him from achieving anything. Just before they made an appointment, James visited the National Park because one of his friends had highly recommended it. Suddenly, he had a drive. He loved the Park, the whole exploration aspect. Not all of the Park was explored and mapped out – the Rangers did their best, but the constant battles, mixed with the awesome powers of the Legendary Pokemon, meant that the landscape was always changing.

It had been great to see James always chatting about the Park. He’d spent hours working on the application forms to become a Ranger, but the day after he mailed them in the Park had closed down for remodeling and restructuring, as well as some scientific research on the Trainers’ effects on the local wildlife. Suddenly, James had become depressed – he’d lost his drive, his reason to exist. He’d been fine before, but now he had had a taste of what having a goal feels like, and he couldn’t live without one. I remembered watching him check the National Park website at least three times a day, hoping for news about the National Park’s reopening.

Finally, one afternoon the site had a brand new banner, advertising the reopening of the National Park. I was in the room when James had found out, and I can still remember his wide grin. It was so big that it had to have hurt, but I was sure that he couldn’t have stopped if he tried. Not five minutes later, Mum had rushed in with a letter. It had a stamp on it bearing the crest of the National Park. James’ fingers were shaking so bad that he could barely open the envelope.

He eventually managed it, though, and at that second he had become a Ranger. He moved away, taking a small cabin on the island where the National Park was situated. I checked on him frequently through the website, and was surprised to see his expedition count shoot up incredibly fast. Within a few months James had escorted more Trainers than some of the old-time Rangers.

Recently, his activity and love of the Park had been noticed by the higher-ups. He had been promoted to Elite Ranger. I was of two minds about this promotion – James loved his new position, and it was good to see him being successful at something. God knows he had never had much luck with women – being the son of two Breeders wasn’t really one of the best origins to impress the ladies. On the other hand, James had even less spare time. When he had first become a Ranger, he had returned home to visit twice a month. It had been five weeks since his promotion now, and the only contact we have had is two hurried phone calls. He had wanted to hang out with me for an hour before today’s run, but this morning I had received a short text message. There had been lots of Ranger applicants recently, and James was bogged with hours of interviews and swimming pools of paperwork. I didn’t mind though – I just hoped that James would get Christmas off. I had a surprise for him that I couldn’t wait to tell him about.

My watch buzzed insistently but relatively softly. I had set the internal alarm to go off an hour and a half before the last ferry left so I could ask my Ranger to start heading back to the Docks when it went off. I was just about to inform Buzz of this when a bright white-yellow flash struck out from around the corner. Buzz grinned, and turned back to face me. “Looks like we will come across our mystery Pokemon sooner than I could have hoped,” he said enthusiastically.

As I turned off the alarm by twisting the dial around about rim of the clock face, I couldn’t stop my left eyebrow from raising. This was soon? Although, to be fair to Buzz, he didn’t know I was in a hurry, so I just said simply, “I hope so.”

We turned the corner, and I was expecting to see a giant yellow Pokemon crawling with electricity, or perhaps even a coveted Porygon-Z. What actually greeted my eyes was much different. It looked much like any of the other concrete corridors – cracks ran through the walls and along the ceilings, small pieces of mechanical junk lay scattered across the floor, and at the end, just before a corner, a single red vending machine sat patiently, gently pulsing with light. I scratched my head, confused.

“Damn, did you see that flash of light?” Buzz asked. “Or are my eyes just going crazy?”

“No, I definitely saw it too,” I replied. “Maybe the Pokemon made a run for it.”

“Oh well, might as well keep walking down here.” Buzz shrugged.

We walked slowly down the hallway. I noticed that it was running parallel to a large room, but couldn’t really see into the room itself. I only got brief glimpses from the doors connecting it to the corridor. I also kept a close eye on the small pieces of machinery, tapping some of the larger ones with my feet. The rare Pokemon might be hiding behind, or even in one of them. Some were large enough to be hiding some small Pokemon – I’d heard rumours of small spiders wielding the power of electricity being discovered in a far-off continent. I originally thought that they’d been talking about a Spinarak that managed to tangle its String Shot in a power line or something, but apparently it was a brand-new species – some rumours said they were smaller than apples. I found that a little hard to believe, but it still wouldn’t be the strangest Pokemon in existence.

As I was gently moving the pieces of esoteric junk around, I heard a fluttering sound, and I saw Buzz’s Xatu land on his shoulder just as we walked past the vending machine. I gave it a cursory glance, but didn’t pay it much attention – chance was the stuff in there was insanely overpriced, even if there was any food left. Besides, I was feeling a little too disappointed to feel like eating. I was walking past it when Buzz suddenly stopped. He turned to look at it, and then grinned.

I couldn’t see what he was grinning about, so I stepped to the side. I was just in time to catch sight of a small orange Pokemon phasing out of the vending machine. As the blue plasma field surrounding the Pokemon left the machine, the light emanating from its assorted strobes and panes guttered and died, and it returned to its original colour – pale blue.

The Pokemon itself was shaped like one of the spinning toys that were popular with young children – kind of like a nail with a baseball impaled onto it. It was coloured mostly orange, and had a small, mischievous smile. Its eyes were quite large, and its pupils were bright blue and displayed a remarkable intelligence. The blue plasma surrounding the orange body had completely separated from the vending machine now, and it moved slightly around the body like the gases around a Gastly. Two large pieces of plasma were fashioned into lightning-bolt-shaped appendages that I assumed could be used like arms.

"Wow, looks like you are the lucky trainer. Not everyone gets to encounter a Rotom. Do you wish to battle it?" Buzz asked me.

“I sure as hell do,” I replied, a big grin splitting my face. Rotom was one of the reasons I had come to the Park in the first place – I needed another Ghost-typed Pokemon. Specialle was great, but she wasn’t very fast, excepting her Shadow Sneak technique. I needed a faster Ghost type – I wasn’t a great Pokemon battler, but I enjoyed the strategy and quick thinking that battling required. Despite my wish to become a Breeder, I also wanted to challenge some of the nearby Gyms, and the closest specialised in Ghost-typed Pokemon. I didn’t have any fast Pokemon that could counter Gengar yet. In fact, I didn’t really have any Ghost counters in general except for Algare, my Weavile, but she wasn’t very well trained, and tended to disagree with my attack orders if they didn’t involve hitting something very hard or cutting it open with sharp talons. The first time I had ordered her to use Swords Dance, she had refused and then gotten roasted by a Pidgeot’s Heat Wave. I suppose my Houndoom Ignite would also qualify as a Ghost counter, but a lot of the bulkier Ghost types tended to carry Earthquake, which messed him up. Furthermore, his movepool wasn’t very wide, and he likes using Super Fang a lot, which doesn’t do anything to Ghost types.

My next problem was which Pokemon to use in battle. My immediate thought was Smash – the Swampert’s Ground typing would nullify the Rotom’s electrical attacks, but Smash wouldn’t be able to hit it with Earthquake without tearing down the walls of the plant, and I had a feeling that Buzz wouldn’t be too happy about that. I could always stick to Water moves and wear it down slowly, but I remembered that Rotom could change forms, and one of the forms (a lawn mower, I believe) granted the Rotom access to the Leaf Storm move, also known as “the number one way to wreck any random Swampert’s shit”.

Dual would probably be a good choice – even though he was weak to Ghost attacks, he had a high Special Defence and a wide movepool. His Shadow Sneak and Night Slash attacks would be super effective on the Rotom, and he could even use Confuse Ray to throw it off. It’s a pity that Rotom’s ability to levitate rendered it all but immune to Ground-typed attacks. Not for the first time did I rue Dual’s inability to manipulate gravity.

Specialle was able to do so, and recently she’d been trying to teach the technique to Dual. Gallade didn’t normally have the aptitude to work with gravity, but Dual always hungered for new powers and challenges, so he and Specialle had spent much of the last couple weeks trying to perfect his Gravity technique. I’d teased Dual a couple times about spending a lot of time with Specialle, but he continually reassured me that he wasn’t sexually attracted to the Dusknoir. I couldn’t say I blame him – Specialle was an awesome battler and a great addition to my team, but she had a strange personality, and was physically quite man-like. Dual usually chased after Gardevoir because they were the only attractive Pokemon he could actually breed with. I was pretty sure that Dual wanted a son – he always latched onto any Ralts or Kirlia we came across.

I’d come to watch the Gravity training once. Specialle had coated the air around her with pink energy, and suddenly the grass she was just hovering over flattened down onto the dirt. It was like she was so overloaded with power that everything with mass was trying to flee from her very existence. She slowly expanded the Gravity field until she was right in the centre of a ten-metre wide sphere in which the air was gently tinted a pale rose colour. I picked up a small stone and lobbed it underarm towards the Dusknoir. The second it touched the gravitational field, it abruptly turned ninety degrees and smashed into the ground. It hit the so hard that it actually sunk into the soft loam, out of sight.

Dual then tried to do the same. His aqua coloured horn became surrounded with a bright blue nimbus and he attempted to mimic Specialle. Slowly a light blue sphere began expanding outwards from the red wedge in his chest, but it stopped expanding beyond his outstretched arms. It wobbled inwards and outwards, expanding and contracting erratically. Finally, he stabilised it, but it still wobbled a little bit.

Specialle turned to me and nodded. I threw another rock, this time at Dual. When it entered the coloured sphere, instead of dropping instantly to the ground it curved gently downwards, landing softly on the ground out the other side of the sphere.

Dual growled softly, but didn’t give up. He was actually much more intelligent than he seemed – he used his telekinetic powers in ingenious ways. The most prevalent example was probably his Psychic: Shockwave Style in which he used his telekinesis to create a blast of hurricane-grade wind and send it at his opponent. He’d had lots of trouble using it when he was a Ralts, but he’d managed to use it as a Kirlia, and now he was a Gallade he’d perfected it. Another good example was the way he used his ability to walk on water. He frequently tries to perfect levitation, but hasn’t yet mastered it. He can only get about half a metre off the ground, max. I explained to him, the reason he can walk across water is because water is much easier to push and brace yourself against than air, but he stubbornly persist.

As if Dual could sense me thinking about him, he released himself from his Poke Ball and stretched his muscles. He flicked the Xatu a quick telepathic greeting before seeing the Rotom. His muscles started flexing and he unconsciously balled his fists.

<Lucky find,> Dual commented, <You want me to take a shot at it?>

I was actually thinking about letting Specialle take a run at it, I replied. This was exactly the wrong thing to say.

    <WHAT?> Dual exploded, <Do you think I can’t handle it? Just cos it’s a Ghost type?>

I was thinking more along the lines of she has a fair catalogue of super effective attacks and can phase through walls, I commented innocently.

<So she can go incorporeal, big deal,> Dual snorted, <If the Rotom goes through a wall, I’ll just blow it down and give chase.>

Yeah, that’s kinda what I’m afraid of, I said, This corridor is fairly narrow, and I’d like to move the battle into the side room, but the only way I can do that with you is utilising an explosion of some sort, best case. Thus, Specialle. I’m hoping that at some point in time she’ll be able to grab the Rotom and force it through the wall without damaging the structural integrity of the Power Plant itself.

<Oh, whatever,> Dual replied dismissively, <I’ll be waiting here when you need me to cover her.> He took a few steps backwards, indicating that he wasn’t going to fight me over my decision, for which I was eternally thankful. When Dual got stubborn about something, it took something close to a miracle to get him to change his mind.

For a second, I considered sending Dual in to fight anyway, but I decided against it. No, it seemed the best chance to win this fight was probably with Specialle. She had a fairly reliable recovery move, super effective attacks, and the best way to fight a Ghost was probably with another Ghost, in case it tried some fancy phasing combination attack or something. I also had the beginnings of a plan forming in my mind which revolved around a certain status move that Specialle had access to.

I felt a little bit uncomfortable using her in battle again so soon after she had helped out with the Zapdos AND helped me capture the Koffing, but I knew she wouldn’t mind. I pulled her Poke Ball off my belt and threw it into the air. A white flash blinded me temporarily, and then the sphere fell back into my hand. I looked to my right, and the familiar form of my Dusknoir was easily visible. She crooned a quick greeting, then moved in front of me, preparing to battle.

“Alright Specialle, this is going to be a harder battle than usual,” I said to her, “this is a very powerful Pokemon, so we’ll have to take a few risks. As you know, I normally never inflict damaging statuses on Pokemon I intend to catch, but I think we had better this time, just to weaken it and make capturing it easier. With that in mind, I want you to fire off a Will-o-Wisp at the Rotom, and try your best to burn it. Once that is done, watch it carefully – when it counterattacks, use Payback to hit it hard.”

Specialle nodded, and held out her hand in front of her. Ghostly white flames began revolving around in front of her palms, shimmering unnaturally. When there were ten of the little white flames dancing around in front of her, she pushed her arms forward and the little white fires shot towards the Rotom, swaying and dodging from side to side. An inexperienced battler would assume that Specialle was controlling the flames and moving them around to make their trajectory hard to anticipate, but I knew batter. Will-o-Wisp wasn’t the most accurate move in Specialle’s repertoire – it’d be hard enough for her to hit the Rotom as normally, but hopefully the thin corridor would aid her attack. I was worried about the potential burn accidentally causing the Rotom to faint, but I had faith in both my Pokemon’s skills and my own. Only one of the little white fireballs had to touch the Electric Pokemon in order to cause a debilitating burn, and once that happened the Rotom wouldn’t be able to use physical attacks effectively at all.

As soon as the flames were on her way, Specialle darted forwards. Black fire wreathed her arms and her normally red iris was as black as night itself. As she flew, the fire billowed backwards. I never understood why Specialle used the black energy during Payback. All of my other Pokemon just used a normal attack, but I figured it was a personal idiosyncrasy, and it didn’t bother me. The sight of a large ghost bearing down on you with arms on fire had probably scared one that one Pokemon, even if it wouldn’t work on the Rotom because of its Ghost typing.

Ignoring the physical appearance of the attack, I was pretty sure that it would be very effective – despite Specialle’s bulk and respectable strength, or perhaps because of them, she was quite slow. That means that whatever the Rotom did, be it a direct attack or setting up for the battle, Specialle would be able to use the Rotom’s move to empower the Payback attack. She’d force her rage and indignation into the attack, and the black flames would flare up to double their current size, almost taking on the appearance of wings. She’d hit strike the Rotom repeatedly, launching punches, slaps, and strikes in retaliation for whatever the Rotom had done.

OOC: I thought the JE stories implied that Jathan wasn't in contact with his parents, wut is this? LIES AND DECEIT!!!

    BP1;

A Gallade erupted from Jathan's hip after he had affirmed his desire to battle the Plasma Pokémon. Buzz watched them, as they exchanged glances, assuming they were having a telepathic communication. He chose not to have River listen in on the conversation. From what he could glean from the body language, Gallade wasn't particularly happy about something.

Moments later, the Gallade made an audible sigh and stepped backwards out of the path of the Rotom. Jathan proceeded to unclip another ball from his belt; releasing his Dusknoir to the narrow corridor. Buzz's hands twitched towards his Poké Balls because he knew battles in tight spaces often led to disastrous consequences. He hoped Jathan would be able to control the situation and protect the park property.

“Alright Specialle, this is going to be a harder battle than usual,” Jathan said to her, “this is a very powerful Pokemon, so we’ll have to take a few risks.

Specialle raised her arms into the air; spreading forth small balls of fire. Releasing them into the direction of the Rotom, although they bobbed and weaved, they seemed to be on target. The Rotom sent forth an energy ball, black as night. Buzz recognised it as Confuse Ray; it seemed to bob an weave in tandem with the oncoming Will-O-Wisp attact. The two attacks collided in the air producing a small explosion that rattled the plastic wall tiles.

As some of the smoke cleared, Buzz watched one remaining ball of fire continue its wayward journey towards the wild Pokémon. The shimmering flame surrounded the electric type; its normally blue aura now enraged in red as the fire cursed through the Rotom's body.

Buzz was sure that burn would help a great deal in the capture attempt, most forms of status once planted on wild Pokémon, greatly increased the capture chance. Rotom fell to the floor wincing in agony as its burns took hold. Buzz hated watching the wild Pokémon being injured, but he knew it was generally for the greater good, most trainers would treat their newly captured Pokémon very well making up for any damage dealt.

Rotom hovered back to its position, it began to spin on its axis. Suddenly it released a beam of electrical energy. The beam sent pulse of enery in both directions, as it joined the two ghost types. Buzz smiled; this one was clever. It seemed to realise that any physical attacks would be useless now, so it utilised its Charge Beam technique, specifically designed to increase Special Attack.

Dusknoir was charging forward, arms ablaze with shimmering black fire; the electrical beam still connected the pair. Fury danced across Dusknoir's face, striking the ghost type hard, its blackend fist disappearing through the Rotoms body. Buzz jumped in alarm, before realising this was probably just due to Ghost typing of both Pokémon.

Rotom was flung across the corridor, hurtling hard into the wall, instead of crashing phased through the wall into the room behind.

"Come on, Jathan, let's get to it before it flees," Buzz said. It looked like Jathan had a great start to the battle, he hoped it could keep it up. Buzz jogged forward and opened the nearby door, it looked like a break room of sorts. Rotom was nowhere to be seen, but Buzz wasn't going to fall for that twice. His eyes darted immediately to the fridge, which was now a bright shade of orange. The fridge blinked. "Ok, so its now in its Frost form, you have to be careful of that Blizzard attack. At least this room is a lot bigger than the corridor, means I can relax a bit."

OOC: I already told you, but for the lurkers, this Jathan is a different Jathan. Park!Jathan was here before Story!Jathan - I couldn't think of a name for my main character, and I liked this name so I used it again.

As the white specks of fire all flew towards the Rotom independently, the Plasma Pokemon fired a small black energy ball towards Specialle. The dark sphere touched a flame and absorbed it, growing in size. It continued to grow, enveloping all the other flames before exploding. The sound was more high-pitched and sudden that a normal explosion, and most of the few remaining decorative tiles on the walls clattered to the ground. I swore underneath my breath - I'd been counting on the burn to distract and limit the abilities of the Rotom.

I was just about to call for her to do another Will-o-Wisp when I saw one lone white flame approach the Rotom from the side. It had been far enough to the left to avoid being sucked in by the Rotom's defence. It whizzed around the Rotom quickly, and parts of the blue plasma that made up the Rotom's body turned red as the burn made its way into the Rotom's system. The red shifted around and expanded until the entirety of the Rotom's aura was red.

Rotom retreated a bit, and tilted forwards a bit. I looked over at Specialle - she was charging forward, black flames leaping off her arms. Out of nowhere a thin electrical beam shot out of the tip of the Rotom's head, smashing in my Dusknoir's shoulder, quelling a huge chunk of flame, knocking her back a bit. But that wasn't the worst part - sparks began crawling around the Electric Pokemon's form, and flashes of yellow and blue could now be seen interspersed with the red.

Specialle's pupil thinned, and she started forwards, pushing against the beam drilling into her shoulder. As she slowly got closed, the fire on her shoulders and arms grew bigger, until she appeared to have huge black wings, albeit wings made of leaping black flames.

Specialle finally got next to the Rotom, and threw a vicious right punch at it. All the fire on her left arm merged into the fire on her right shoulder, and the combined energy flowed quickly down her arm and to her fist just as it made contact. Specialle heaved, and the Rotom went flying backwards. The fire moved outwards - it looked find of like Specialle had punched a lake, except the lake was vertical and made of darkness.

Instead of crashing into the wall right behind it, the Rotom phased through it. I smiled despite the battle - if Dual had been participating, that wall would have been nothing but rubble right about now. Specialle, having a cooler head, moved forward to give chase.

"Come on Jathan, let's get to it before it flees," Buzz said to me.

I nodded, and Buzz flung open the door. It was a long-unused break room, complete with couches and low tables and a destroyed television on the wall. Opposite the television was a small kitchen - a sink, microwave and refrigerator could all be seen. I doubted any of them worked.

Specialle had beaten us in here, and she looked around confused. I was just about to ask my Ranger if he could see anything when I realised the refrigerator was giving off a barely visible blue aura.

"Okay, so it's now in its Frost form. You have to be careful of that Blizzard attack. At least this room is a lot bigger than the corridor, means I can relax a bit," Buzz commented.

"Perhaps not," I replied as I walked over and sat down on one of the couches. It was actually in fairly good shape - there were no springs sticking out or anything. I wasn't sitting down because I was lazy - I already knew my next move, and being on this couch was almost vital.

"I'd take a seat, if I were you," I said to Buzz, "this may potentially hurt."

I then looked over to Specialle, who had seen the glowing as well. "Specialle, now that the Rotom is in a more solid form, I think it's time for us to use the ace-in-the-hole," I said to her. I didn't relay my plans out loud - perhaps keeping the Rotom from discovering our plan would mean it wouldn't be able to react in time to negate it or dodge.

Specialle nodded. We'd been discussing what to do if we ran across a Rotom on the ferry - it had been important to have a plan. After all, obtaining a Rotom was one of the main objectives on this trip.

Specialle spread her arms out wide. For a few seconds, nothing happened. Suddenly, pink energy flared out of her, flowing throughout the room. A mug that was balanced precariously on the counter fell off onto the floor and shattered. Pictures and tiles fell down, and a couple of the shoddier chairs simply broke down. Such was the power of Specialle's control over Gravity.

The Rotom-possessed refrigerator seemed to shudder, as if it knew what was coming next. It tried to shuffle away, but the gravity was too intense for it to move. Hell, I couldn't even raise my arm onto my lap.

Specialle raised her left fist into the air - it was glowing white. She then smashed it into the ground, and a crack in the concrete began zigzagging towards the Plasma Pokemon. I winced inside as I saw the damage to the floor, but at least Specialle was smart enough to not use the move at full power. It she had, the ceiling might be falling on top of us right about now.

"Perhaps not," Jathan replied as he walked over and sat down on one of the couches. "I'd take a seat, if I were you," he continued, "this may potentially hurt."

Buzz wasn't use to trainers telling him what to do, but he went with it; on the assumption that it was some interesting technique Jathan had thought up. He dropped himself down on the couch next to Jathan awaiting his next move.

"Specialle, now that the Rotom is in a more solid form, I think it's time for us to use the ace-in-the-hole," he said to the Dusknoir. The large ghost type raised its arms out and a pink field of energy spread across the room, Buzz felt his body being pulled into the seat.

River who had been fluttering around above Buzz's head was pulled rapidly to floor with a thud.

"You ok?" Buzz asked, restraining the smile that had crept across his face.

"I'm fine; you could have given me some warning," River said.

It's not like I knew either. He just told me to sit down, you should have landed shouldn't you? Buzz thought to his companion. He glanced around the room as the older chairs cracked under their increased weight. Buzz was impressed with the idea, Rotom's ability was Levitate which made it immune to ground type attacks, the increased gravity meant this would be negated.

Although the fidgetting fridge, no longer had use of its ability, Buzz didn't think it was going to back down easily. The Rotom quickly opened its fridge doors, while Buzz instinctively pulled his had down in preparation for the oncoming Blizzard, instead was witness to a a gust of balck energy. A torrent of wind filled with despair and darkness. A heaviness crept into Buzz's soul as the Ominous Wind struck the trio.

Buzz gasped for air as the blackness faded, all his darkest fears played through his mind, he remembered why he wasn't a fan of ghost types.

Specialle, however took the attack in her stride, raised her left fist into the air - it was glowing white. She then smashed it into the ground, and a crack in the concrete began zigzagging towards the Plasma Pokemon. Buzz wasn't too bothered about the damage, it appeared to be fairly localised. Jathan had appeared to flinch a bit though.

The crack reached the rotom as the energy from the attack hit the Electric fridge hard. Buzz could see the Rotom struggling to keep its defences up. Buzz could tell he had a good trainer on his hands. He thought he would play a small joke on Jathan, but not yet, soon.
