    I'd forgotten something. As soon as Specialle increased the Gravity, Buzz's Xatu crashed into the ground with a thump. I felt guilty, and tried to broadcast an apology using my mind, but it was near impossible to communicate telepathically with psychic Pokemon you weren't familiar with. Besides, she didn't seem hurt.

    As the crack moved through the ground, a black mist spread throughout the room, seemingly unimpeded by the Gravity. It curled around Specialle, and she shrank back, but the shockwave was already on its way. Unfortunately, the Ominous Wind rolled across us as well, and I began to recall all the worst times in my life.

    I remembered the emptiness I felt when Jakk had moved away to become the Veilstone Gym Leader. I knew he had been following his own path, but it still hurt that he had left me behind - as the youngest son, I looked up to the firstborn.

    I remembered when I was just four years old, and I had accidentally left a gate open after going out to play. A baby Torchic had wandered out the gate - Dad had found it dead in a field half a kilometre away three weeks later. I hadn't ever felt worse - it was my fault the poor Pokemon had died.

    I remembered when the girl I liked had moved away. She was half a year older than me, and had dyed her hair violent pink. I flashed back on how she had hated leggings - she could only ever be found in skirts or one-piece dresses. We'd swapped phone numbers, but she'd never called, and when I tried the number had been disconnected.

    The memories soon passed though, and I returned to the present. I noticed that Dual was now standing behind me - he couldn't use Gravity well, but he had a firm enough grasp on the technique to at least partially negate the effects of another Gravity-increasing move.

    Show-off, I remarked.

    Dual ignored me loftily.

    I looked over at the Rotom. It was hard to judge the body language of a possessed refrigerator, but I was pretty sure it was getting tired. I'd like to get a bit more damage in on the Plasma Pokemon before attempting a capture, but the problem was that even though Specialle had been the one to intensify the local gravitational field, she wasn't immune to it. She could move around naturally by creating a repelling field just around her, but that required a lot of concentration and was hard to pull off at the best of times. No, my best chance was to use an attack that bypassed the need for Specialle to move physically.

    The move that immediately sprung to mind was Night Shade - a technique that used dark mental images projected into the targets mind to make them panic. I decided against this, though - the Rotom had shown its mastery of mental attacks through its use of Ominous Wind. That didn't matter, though; I had another move that was perfect for this situation.

    "Alright Specialle, hit it with a good hard Shadow Sneak!" I called, slurring my words. It was really hard to move my jaw and tongue.

    Specialle began sinking into the ground, or at least it looked that way. In reality, she was inhabiting her shadow. This way, she wouldn't be impeded by the powerful gravitational field - after all, shadows had no mass. Once she had completely disappeared, the shadow on the ground streaked forwards quickly, heading for the Rotom.

    I was hoping that this would be the final attack Specialle would have to use - the Shadow Sneak plus recurring damage from the Burn would hopefully put me in a good position to attempt a capture. I wasn't worried about knocking out the Rotom - after all, Shadow Sneak was the weakest move I had used yet, and the Rotom still seemed to me to be in good health.

    Buzz watched as Jathan slurred out his instructions for his Dusknoir. Specialle vanished; his eyes flickered to the floor as Dusknoir's shadow crept stealthily along the floor, the Fridge had no time to react as the attack struck it.

    Unfortunatly for Specialle this meant she was right infront of the Rotom, in particular right in front of the fridge doors, which promptly opened releasing a vicious gust of white snow; the room became a blanket of snow and nothing was visible anymore.

    Once the majority of the snow had cleared Buzz spotted that small icicles stuck to the Dusknoir's body they spread across its body as it appeared to be frozen.

    The burn scars on the Fridge's body spread, soon collapsed of its Fridge form and fell to the floor under the extreme gravity. Buzz was sure it was getting close to Jathan's last chance to capture this Rotom. "Hey, if you let it take anymore burn damage; I think that will be it for this little guy."

    The shadow stretched towards the fridge, and then suddenly Specialle shot out of it, right arm stretched up. She punched the refrigerator uppercut-style, knocking it against the wall. Unfortunately the freezer doors shot open and a cloud of white ice and snow puffed outwards. Small icicles began forming on her body and arms and a blue aura started flowing over her body. The attack must have frozen her.

    It came at a fortuitous time, though. The Rotom detached from the fridge and kind of slithered onto the ground - it must have been so tired that it couldn't hold onto its forme anymore. The Gravity wouldn't have been helping.

    "Hey, if you let it take anymore burn damage I think that will be it for this little guy," Buzz said, slightly slurring his words as well.

    I agreed with him. It was time to attempt a capture. The only problem was that the Gravity prevented me from moving.

    A little help? I asked Dual through our telepathic link.

    Dual nodded, and grasped my shoulder with his hand. I felt the effects of the gravity lessen, but not abate completely. I was able to lift my arm and reach into my pocket. I grabbed a small sphere and hoped it was a Hyper Ball - no way I was going to be able to pull something else out.

    It was a Park Ball. I swore internally, but threw it underarm at the Plasma Pokemon. As I threw it, Dual reached out his arm and the ball was coated in blue energy as he levitated it towards the Rotom.

    Buzz watched as Chainy throw the telekinetically assisted Park ball towards the Plasma Pokémon now lying on the floor. Once it connected, Dual's assistance stopped and it thudded to the floor.

    "Jathan, nice work thats a great capture. Now if you would be so kind as to lift this gravity field we can get moving. River lift that ball into the bag," Buzz announced struggling to get to his feet. "Oh and you see that big crack in the floor, yeah 'cause of that I have to confiscate your Rotom and escort you from the plant."

    Buzz kept his face, as still as possible waiting for Jathan's reaction before bursting into laughter. "Man, I've been waiting to use that one for ages, the look on your face. Priceless!"

    The ball floated precariously through the the air, decreasing in height as it got further away from Dual and he couldn't keep it as high. It finally made contact with a Rotom. The ball struggled to open, but it did, and the Rotom was sucked inside. The second the Plasma Pokemon was inside and the sphere snapped shut, it crashed to the ground.

    Strangely, the ball didn't shake like usual. It just laid there and the red capture light shone brightly. The Rotom must have been REALLY fatigued.

    "Jathan, nice work. That's a great capture. Now if you would be so kind as to lift this gravity field we can get moving," Buzz said to me.

    "Uhh, that might be a problem," I slurred. "Specialle is the one who increased Gravity, and she's kinda frozen solid at the moment."

    Dual sent the sound of a sigh through our mental link. <Do you want me to link Specialle again?> he asked.

    I think you might have to, I replied, I don't think Buzz wants to wait around for the five - ten minutes it'll take for the field to dissipate naturally.

    Dual rolled his eyes, but his helmet began to glow light blue. I knew we has reaching out to Specialle, who was trapped in the block of ice. He closed his eyes, and a couple seconds later they reopened. This time, however, his eyes were a pure, solid red. Gallade didn't have the power to possess people or share bodies, but Dusknoir sure did. Specialle was now inhabiting Dual's body, but retained her own powers.

    Dual's arms raised into the air, and gradually the increased gravity faded away. I was able to get up off the couch and stretch my legs. I walked over to the hovering patch of icicles that was my Dusknoir as Buzz's Xatu flew over and picked the Poke Ball up off the ground.

    "That was a good fight, great job Specialle," I said as I returned her to her Poke Ball. She deserved a good rest.

    "Oh, you see that big crack in the floor?" Buzz said to me suddenly.

    I turned and looked at the crevasse caused by Specialle's Earthquake attack. It wasn't that large, but you had to jump over it as opposed to step over it.

    "Yeah, cause of that I have to confiscate your Rotom and escort you from the plant," he said seriously.

    My jaw dropped. "Really?" I asked faintly. I didn't mind leaving the Park - I had to go soon anyway - but I kinda wanted that Rotom really badly.

    Buzz nodded seriously as the Xatu dropped the Poke Ball into Buzz's bag. I thought he was being deadly serious, but he soon started chuckling, and the chuckling turned into full-on laughter.

    "Man, I've been waiting to use that one for ages," he said while gasping for air. "The look on your face. Priceless!"

    I ignored Buzz as I returned Dual to his Poke Ball and waited to move on. A smartass Ranger was bad enough - I didn't need Dual making comments or reinforcing the Ranger's notion that he was funny.

    Buzz was still chuckling as the rather annoyed looking Jathan realised it was all a joke. "Oh, come on man! Lighten up, you just caught a Rotom, its not like that happens everyday," Buzz said patting Jathan on the shoulder. "Well I think its about time we were heading back to the Outpost, you are very close to the end of your time in the park."

    Buzz lead Jathan through the winding corridors, their trip towards the main entrance was a lot less eventful than the journey before it. The idea of poachers in the park scared Buzz.

    As they reached the exit to the plant and stood at the reception desk. As small yellow rodent like Pokémon popped out from beneath the desk, it had been spinning around on an office chair. It darted along the desk and leapt in front of Buzz.

    "Well this spritely guy wants to battle to, I guess your journey isn't quite over. Does a Pikachu sound good?" Buzz asked his companion

    OOC: Female please.

    Buzz led me out of the room, clapping a hand onto my shoulder as he did so.

    "Oh, come on man! Lighten up, you just caught a Rotom, its not like that happens everyday," Buzz chuckled.

    I knew he was right, but didn't feel like coming out of my sullen mood. James often made fun of my serious temperament, but it fit well with Dual's nature and Dad always said it was would make me a great breeder.

    "Well, I think it's about time we were heading back to the Outpost, you are very close to the end of your time in the Park," Buzz continued.

    "Sounds like a good plan to me, I'd like to catch a ferry off the island today," I replied.

    We walked through thin corridors and large rooms for what seemed like hours, even though I knew that it couldn't have been more than fifteen minutes or so. We finally arrived in a large hallway with a high ceiling. I recognised it as the hallway that the main doors were on - after all, I'd been here before, at the start of the day.

    My head drooped and I was just beginning to feel upset that I wouldn't be able to try and catch one last Pokemon when I heard a strange squeaking. It was almost metallic, in a way. I looked up from my feet, and I saw an office chair rotating quickly behind a half-destroyed reception desk. When looking a bit closer, I saw a small electric rodent was sitting in it, spinning the chair around with its tail.

    When it realised it was being watched, it jumped off of the spinning chair and along the desk. It nimbly leaped off the desk and onto the ground in front of Buzz. It squeaked at him, rather cutely I had to admit.

    "Well this spritely guy wants to battle," Buzz said to me. "I guess your journey isn't quite over. Does a Pikachu sound good?"

    I thought about it. Pikachu were very common on the mainlands, and Raichu wasn't a particularly powerful Pokemon. Then again, I was allowed to catch three Pokemon and I only had two so far, and the Pikachu was adorable. I looked at my watch - what the hell, I had time.

    "Sure, I think I'd like to try battling it," I said to Buzz, "and I have just the Pokemon in mind."

    I picked a Poke Ball off my right wristguard and gently threw it underarm to the side. A white flash of light obscured the hall for a second, and then my Swampert was revealed. I was happy he would have a chance to fight - despite his usually happy nature, he'd be injured if I brought him to the Park and didn't let him get a battle in.

    "Smash, up your battle abilities with a Curse, then hit the Pikachu with a Mud Bomb!" I called out. I was quite sure Buzz didn't mind crevasses in out-of-the-way rooms, but the main hallway was probably a different story. That meant I was forced to use Smash's other Ground-typed moves. Besides, the Pikachu was fast - it might be able to dodge them anyway.

    Smash began muttering under his breath, staring straight at the electic mouse. I never understood his words, but I knew he was deliberately insulting the Pikachu, trying to make it seem less powerful. It was all about confidence.

    Once he was finished, he opened his mouth wide and spat a huge mess of sand towards the Pikachu. The glob moved in an arc, and also spread outwards as it moved like a wave, aiming to envelope the poor Electric-typed Pokemon.

    "Smash, up your battle abilities with a Curse, then hit the Pikachu with a Mud Bomb!" Jathan called out.

    "Wow, that Swampert sure has a filthy mind," River said to Buzz as the Swampert began muttering under its breath, unaware that River had just swept her way through the water type's mind. Buzz chuckled quietly so as not to be off putting.

    The Pikachu meanwhile had darted forward, a trail of white light behind it. It leapt high into the air and swung its tail hard into the Mudfish Pokemon. It's tail gleamed with silver as it struck, Smash slipped slightly at the impact.

    Buzz noted that the Pikachu's tail had a small v-shaped notch in as it still gleamed with its metallic coat. Swampert let out its Mud Bomb, the brown glob of earth arced its way towards the Electric rodent.

    Suddenly the Pikachu swung its tail in front of the Mud Bomb, the ball of earth split in two. Unfortunatly for the impressively ingenius wild pokemon one half of the bomb splattered right into its face. The other soarred harmless over its head and left a nice stain on the wall.

    The Pikachu fell to the floor from the attack but its eyes were wide open, glancing around the room looking for ideas and plotting its next trick.

    As Smash muttered underneath his breath, the small yellow mouse darted forwards. Its tail dragged behind it, glowing a bright silver. It jumped into the air and somersaulted, bringing the Iron Tail down hard on the top of Smash's head.

    Smash flinched to the side a little bit, but he'd finished Cursing anyway. He spat the mud ball at the retreating Pikachu, but the Pikachu knew it was coming. It swung its tail at the mud ball, deflecting about half of the attack onto the wall behind it. Mud spattered in interesting patterns both on the concrete and on the Pikachu.

    The Pikachu dropped to the ground, but I noticed its eyes were shrewdly flicking around, no doubt looking for an angle to attack from. I looked at my watch - I didn't have much time. I had been subconsciously planning something with Bide, but that took too long and might accidentally knock out the small Electric-type Pokemon. No, I needed to go on a strong offense.

    "Smash, hit it with a nice hard Hydro Pump, and try to push it against the wall," I called out. "Move forward as you do so, and then smash the Pikachu into the wall with a nice hard Take Down!"

    Hopefully by hitting it into a wall, I could get a bit more damage in, but to be honest I didn't think Smash would be able to pin the rodent. It was too fast and nimble. I could always hope, though.

    Smash took a deep breath and then opened his mouth wide, far wider than when he had launched the Mud Bomb. Suddenly, a huge torrent of blue water gushed out of his mouth, heading towards the small Pikachu. It almost looked like a horizontal waterfall. The only problem with Hydro Pump was that there was so much water it obscured Smash's vision - there was a fair chance that the Pikachu would be able to dodge the attack. Smash's legs tensed as he prepared to start shuffling forwards while continuing to pump the water at his opponent.

    "Smash, hit it with a nice hard Hydro Pump, and try to push it against the wall," Jathan called out. "Move forward as you do so, and then smash the Pikachu into the wall with a nice hard Take Down!"

    Buzz watched as the huge torrent of water erupited from the Mudfish Pokémon. The Pikachu appeared to be taken by surprise by the oncoming torrent of water and didn't react in time. It was pushed back to the wall as it flipped mid air and crashed.

    It recovered just in time to watch the oncoming Swampert, it used its tail as a spring and bounced up and over the Swampert, unfortnately not springing high enough and just getting caught by the Swampert's head. Smash crashed into the wall along with the Pikachu.

    Buzz frowned as the wall tiles crumbled. Seeing the remaining water on the ground appeared to give the Pikachu an idea. A great wave of water formed, and the Pikachu appeared at the top of the wave. Buzz smiled remembering how he had shown his own Raichu how to master the technique.

    The wave of water crashed over the part water type, and soaked everyone in the room. Buzz slowly wiped the water from his face. "Always an impressive technique for a Pikachu to know," Buzz said to chainy who appeared to be wiping the water off himself

    The torrent of water smashed into the Pikachu, making it somersault and pinning it to the wall. Both Buzz and I flinched as a large section of the wall's decorative tiles were either smashed or knocked off the floor. I cast a quick glance around the hallway - there were many such craters and around the hallway anyway, memories of past battles that had occurred in this very spot.

    I remembered one that James had told me about. An Infernape had swung around the ceiling, throwing fire at a Magneton. The Magneton had put up a valiant fight, landing a Zap Cannon and nearly knocking the Infernape through the wall, but eventually a well-placed Flare Blitz had subdued the Wild Pokemon enough that a Hyper Ball had successfully captured it.

    As Smash was firing the water, he moved forward, keeping the electric mouse pinned. It managed to struggle upwards, and Smash didn't see it do so. He smashed his head into the wall, only just hitting the Pikachu. The Pikachu squealed and fell to the ground.

    Suddenly, the water around the two combatants started swelling up, rising to form a wave. I was confused - I hadn't ordered Smash to perform another attack. What was happening?

    The mystery was solved as the Pikachu appeared at the top of the wave. It squealed a challenge before leaning forward, causing the large wave to crash down on top of the Swampert. It almost completely submerged him - impressive for a Pikachu, especially considering its typing.

    "Always an impressive technique for a Pikachu to know," Buzz commented.

    "Sure is." I grinned. "Makes me want to catch the little guy even more."

    I noticed that the Pikachu was sitting on the ground a little bit away from Smash. It was panting, and still had the dirty smears from Smash's Mud Bomb over its fur. It seemed quite fatigued - I didn't want to hit it with another strong attack like Mud Bomb or Hydro Pump. I considered Muddy Water for a few seconds, but being Swampert's signature attack that might be a bit too strong at the moment.

    "Alright Smash, good job! Now go for the Pikachu with Mud Slap, and put all of your might into it!" I yelled.

    Mud Slap was Smash's weakest move, but considering he was Ground typed and the move was super effective against the Electric-typed Pikachu, it should still do a fair bit of damage, and there wouldn't be any danger of the Pikachu being knocked out. The other advantage was that the attack was quite accurate, and it might even obscure Pikachu's vision a little bit.

    Smash moved forward to a small puddle of water - some of the dirt from the Mud Bomb he had used earlier was lying at the bottom. He smashed the puddle with a blow from one of his strong forearms, and a spray of dark brown mud flew through the air towards the tired Pikachu.

    As I watched the mud spread through the air, my watch started beeping urgently at me. That was my alarm. I now had exactly fifteen minutes to get to the Docks before the ferry left, and it'd take five minutes at least to buy a ticket and get to the terminal even if Dual Teleported us there. Not to mention there might be some forms filled out or whatever - there hadn't been last time, but the Park had gone under restructuring since the last time I was here so I couldn't rule it out. I needed to finish this battle as soon as possible.

    I dug my hand into my pocket and pulled out a Super Ball. I pressed the button in the middle of the sphere, and it beeped electronically as it expanded to its maximum size. I began walking to the side a bit, preparing to throw the ball at the Pikachu after the mud had hit.

    OOC: FOR YOU LURKERS HE ASKED ME TO DO THE CAPTURE AT THE END :p

    BP/ENDING POST
    "Alright Smash, good job! Now go for the Pikachu with Mud Slap, and put all of your might into it!" Jathan yelled.

    The Swampert swung his forearm through the water and fused it with the earth as a wave of mud was flung at the Pikachu it smacked him across the face, it collapsed to the floor. It looked exhausted it.

    The Pikachu saw the Super Ball expand in Jathan's hand and nodded, it leapt up activating the mechanism itself. "Well thats a new one. I've seen Pokemon stop battling to allow the ball to hit them but never seen a Pokemon leap inside a ball willingly," Buzz laughed.

    Jathan muttered something about the Ferry, and Buzz looked at his watch. "You will make it no problem, River lets get back to headquarters," Buzz said.

    In a pink flash of energy the group were stood back at reception. He smiled at Madison, before quickly filling out the forms and getting Jathan to sign the release forms. Buzz passed the three Pokeballs over and the money for the photographs.

    "Well, that was fun. I'll tell James you had to rush off so didn't get to see him. Here's my mobile number, if you want to go on another run soon just give me a ring and we will set it up. Don't worry no perverted images will be sent your way."

    Ranger Chainy

    ~~~~~
    I gazed out the window, relaxing happily as everyone else in the Plant Outpost ran around attending to their jobs. Apparently it was a really busy afternoon, or rather evening, as the sun was kissing the horizon. Lots of the Rangers and secretaries were shooting me dirty looks, probably because I wasn't helping out. Still, it wasn't like I minded - I usually helped out a lot, and I was feeling lazy. All the others could hold the fort for once.
    I yawned and looked over across the office. It had been several days since I took an Expedition, and maybe if I got out of here people might think I was actually doing work. Besides, just like any other Ranger, our pay reflected the amount of runs we took, and you could never have enough money.
    A groan escaped from my mouth as I stood up and stretched, raising my arms above my head and going onto tippy-toes. A collective sigh seemed to leak out of everyone when they saw me walk over to the pin-up board. There were two sheets there, stark white against the soft brown of the board.
    "They're the only two runs we have left," one of the secretaries said quickly, "and we can't find any other Rangers anywhere."
    "Not even back at HQ?" I asked with an incredulous tone. I found it very hard to believe that there were no free Rangers anywhere on the entire Island.
    "No, everyone is out," she replied, annoyed. "The only Ranger free is Dee, and he's needed to watch the Archives. Ms Vines is out on a run, Leo is nowhere to be found and the Boss is at the Outer Heaven ruins."
    "Huh, I guess I'll take one of these off your hands, then," I said reluctantly.
    "Actually, they said that because of the Ranger shortage they'd be happy to go through together, if you wanted to take them both," the young woman offered.
    I could almost hear the sound of money rattling into my piggybank. Team Runs were worth a loooooot of money, and it wasn't uncommon for arguments over who got to take them to devolve into physical brawls. And yet, here I was, a Team Run to take without any Rangers around to fight me for it! Today was definitely my lucky day.
    "Sure, I'll take both of them." I grinned at the woman. "Just send the info through to my PDA, I'm going to go and wait at the gate for them. Send word that they can come on through."
    I half-jogged happily out of the building and towards the gate. I located the hidden pressure plate towards the side of the path and stamped on it precisely. If you didn't apply the perfect amount of pressure, the gate wouldn't swing open. It was the latest in a long line of security devices that I swear the techie guys had designed just to annoy me. Still, the iron-bar gates swung open slowly, and I scratched the back of my left leg with my right foot, waiting patiently for my Trainers to arrive.
    Their run had yet to even begin, and already Akinai was thinking of an exit plan.
    It had all started out innocently enough. A week ago, Akinai had been going over the National Park pamphlet, trying to decide where to explore next. Heading to Meteor Valley was always nice, there were multiple other areas to see as well. Also, while her visit to Oktori had gone by rather quickly, she was in no hurry to return there just yet. Zen was still sulking at her about that fiasco, and she had yet to even name the three Pokemon she had captured in the area.
    Maybe it would be best if I just took a short break for a while,
    Akinai mused, beginning to close the pamphlet when her eyes rested on the image of a strange abandoned building, standing out from the rest of the more environmental pictures. Curious to check out a place that seemed so out of the ordinary, she decided to sign up for an expedition. Due to the suddenness of her reservation, however, she had been unable to enter during the morning like her previous visits. Instead, she had been booked for one of the more uncommon evening runs. Plus, something seemed a little off this time... normally, the front building had an almost lazy feel to it, with the odd Ranger or two stopping in every now and then. For this evening, it appeared to be alive with energy as people rushed past with paperwork or made their way out of the building, likely to the other outposts. Even the front desk appeared busy, with no one sitting behind the counter. “Is the Park still open?” Akinai asked one of the Rangers, managing to catch her right before she rushed out of sight.
    “Wait, there's another one?” the Ranger groaned. She appeared to be in a hurry, carrying a mountain of paperwork herself, as well as a little irritated that she was stopped from doing her current work. “What were they thinking, booking so many people for the same day... I'll pass word to the secretary that you're up here, but that's all I can promise at the moment.”
    Akinai, starting to get annoyed herself for not receiving any more information, tried to continue, “What's going-”
    “Sorry, that's all I can do at the moment!” the Ranger called out, her steel-gray hair slightly coming out of her ponytail as she rushed on. “Gods, Aria is going to kill me after so many Teleports...”
    “Well, this is just perfect,” Akinai muttered to herself, lazily tossing up Jade's Pokeball before turning around to sit down on one of the couches located nearby.
    Jade peered about somewhat drowsily, not used to being called out at such a late hour. Recognition dawned upon the Flygon's face as she noticed the building they were in currently, then confusion as she noticed that her trainer was simply sitting down and not heading further into the Park.
    “Sorry Jade, but we're going to be waiting a while,” Akinai apologized to her starter. There was another person sitting nearby, a trainer by the looks of it, but he appeared to be waiting as well. She toyed with the thought of asking how long he had been waiting to enter his run when one of the secretaries finally appeared, clearly busy as well.
    “Well, I have good news and bad news Eraizaa. The good news is, we do have one Ranger available. The bad news is- oh, there she is now!” The secretary exclaimed, noticing Akinai. “You both wanted to enter the Plant, right? Mind teaming up together for a joint expedition?”
    “I...sure?” Akinai answered, somewhat confused by the question. She had never teamed up with another trainer before, but she was definitely wanted to enter the Park after waiting so long.
    “It's settled then,” the secretary finalized, clearly happy that the issue managed to fix itself. “Akinai, Eraizaa, head towards the sixth room and there should be a Pokemon waiting to transport you to your location.” With that, she hurriedly went back to her own work.
    “Well, looks like we're partners,” Akinai said a little reluctantly, looking over at the other trainer. “I'm Akinai, and this is Jade. Ready to head out?” She held out a hand towards him, trying to start off things on a positive note when she noticed a familiar purple smoke billow out from a small stone located near his foot.
    Don't tell me Magi somehow made it out! Akinai panicked, looking towards the Pokeballs resting on her own belt. Oddly enough, the Spiritomb's sphere was still safely closed. That meant that this Spiritomb likely belonged to the other trainer... that meant that there were two of the creatures.
    Akinai closed her eyes a moment, trying to remain calm, and steeled herself from trying to move away as quickly as possible. She had already agreed to this, but this was likely going to be a trying run.
    I was actually very excited. I've been wanting to visit the Powerplant for a very long time, and not only was I finally going there, I was going there at night! It was always fun going to places at night with all the lights and new sounds and...
    "Wait a minute...I'm going to an ABANDONED Powerplant...at night...maybe that wasn't such a good idea," I thought to myself.
    There I was, sitting in a couch at the Outpost, just realizing that this was going to be a potentially scary experience.
    "If only I didn't have to go alone. Well, I was going with a Ranger, but, I didn't know this Ranger. At least I had my Pokemon with me," I kept thinking as I looked to my left towards my Pokemon Partner.
    I probably didn't have anything to be afraid of with my Partner being a gaseous creature bound to a stone who was probably more terrifying than anything else I could meet.
    "Spiritomb? Tomb!" exclaimed the Spiritomb as she smiled at me. She probably noticed I was worried and wanted to cheer me up.
    True, my Spiritomb looked scary, but she was one of the friendliest Pokemon I knew. I quickly returned the smiled and petted her head.
    "I'm okay Alegría. Just a bit nervous is all," I said to the Pokemon trying to reassure her that there was nothing to worry about.
    Sure, our small scene was peaceful, but the larger picture wasn't in the least. I found it odd how I heard that everything in the National Park was so quiet, and here they were, Rangers, Secretaries, and God knows who else running around in an uproar. The place was busier than what I ever expected it could be.
    Soon I noticed a girl come in. She seemed a bit confused due to the chaos. One of the secretaries even freaked out when she noticed her. It was kind of funny, but I felt sorry for them at the same time. The girl looked concerned about all of this and she eventually took a seat nearby. I thought that maybe I should walk up to her and say hi, but that's when she took out a Pokeball and let out her Flygon. I didn't know what she was saying, but she started talking to her Pokemon. I thought it was best to let them have their time.
    That's when a secretary approached us. After explaining to us the situation, I sighed in relief for a moment. I was actually excited about having someone else come. The girl quickly accepted the offer to team up with me so that was that. We received instructions to go to the sixth room, so I quickly stood up.
    The girl approached me and introduced herself and her Pokemon. That was a good sign. She seemed friendly at least. This was probably going to be fun.
    "So, her name is Akinai," I thought to myself hoping to learn the name fast.
    I smiled at her and introduced myself as well, "Hello! My name is Eraizaa."
    "Tomb!" Alegría eagerly greeted with a wide cheerful smile as she moved in front of the two.
    "And this is my Spiritomb, Alegría. She seems happy to meet you," I said with a smile as well.
    Suddenly, I noticed the expression on Akinai's face change. She seemed to be slightly panicking about something. I wasn't really sure why, but, right now we had an expedition to attend to.
    "Well, let's go," I said with a cheerful voice as I made my towards the room we were told to go.
    I slowly opened the door and found myself face to face with a small round Pokemon. It was a green bird and seemed to be staring right at me.
    "Oh, a Natu! How cute!" I said to myself as I noticed the bird. "Excuse me, would you..."
    Suddenly, the Natu opened her wings widely shouting "NATU!"
    Next thing I knew, I was face down on the floor somewhere outside. It seemed like the Natu was in a hurry like everyone else.
    "Ow...Where am I?" I said as I shook my head.
    I quickly tried to stand up and noticed an old building nearby with a Ranger standing in front of it. Akinai seemed to have made it there okay too. I don't think the Natu even waited for her to enter the room. Poor thing must have not have a great day.
    I stood up and tried to get some dirt off my clothe as I said, "Well, I think we are here. Everything okay Akinai?"
    "Tomb?" added Alegría as she had neared Jade to make sure she was okay too.
    All in all, it was a very chaotic entrance. Now we had to wait and see how the rest of our odyssey was going to turn out. We could only hope for the best.
    ~~~~~

    I decided to lean against the wrought-iron bars of the gate while I waited. Surely, if the Park was so over-loaded, it wouldn't take them long to arrive, would it? Maybe the workload had become so heavy that the teleporters were overloaded and the Trainers had to arrive by foot. I shaded my eyes and looked in the direction of Headquarters - it was almost visible over the hills and through the trees. The walk wasn't easy - an hour at the very least, and a couple if you were like me and wanted to take it slow. That meant I'd be waiting for a loooooong time.

    My PDA beeped and I pulled it out. The office must have sent through the information on my Trainers. I scrolled through them and got a pleasant surprise. The first person I'd never met before, but they seemed familiar somehow. I shook my head and decided to worry about it later. The second person was Akinai, a young woman who I had taken through the Park once before. It had been a rather eventful run - I had witnessed a spectacular battle with an Absol, and then a much more sinister one with a Spiritomb. It'd be good to catch up with her again.

    Suddenly there was a bright blue flash, and I shut my eyes in surprise. When I opened them, the two Trainers were in front of me, as well as a Flygon that I recognised and a Spiritomb that I didn't. The teleporters must have been so overworked that they placed the group out here instead of in the building. That was incredibly dangerous, and something I'd have to look at once this run was over.

    "Hey there Akinai, good to see you again, and you must be Eraizaa," I said, shaking both of their hands. "My name is James Carter, although I'm known to go by Chainy. Long story, don't ask. Anyway, I'll be leading you two through the Abandoned Power Plant, which as you can see is right behind us."

    I gestured over my shoulder, but couldn't be bothered turning. It was a squat concrete building, which extended down into the ground as opposed to upwards. Apparently it was safer that way or something. The building was surrounded by a partially-broken chain-link fence, excepting the renovated gate I was standing by, and outside of the chain-link fence were trees and rolling flatlands. The Plant was actually rather incongruous, simply laying here like its location had been chosen by a dart.

    I stamped on the hidden pressure plate again, and the gate swung shut with a slight creak. Before I could lead Eraizaa and Akinai into the plant, two small yellow mouse-like Pokemon wandered up to us. They were holding hands, and their ears were twitching curiously from the wide bases all the way up to the black tips. They squeaked at us perfectly in sync, which made me think that they were twins.

    "Well, that's a cute way to start off our Expedition," I said. "Either of you two feel like trying to capture a Pichu?"

    "Hello! My name is Eraizaa." the other trainer introduced himself. He appeared to be in good spirits; an odd thing to see compared to the hectic activity surrounding them. Whether it was because he was always this way or was just happy to finally be able to head out, Akinai was uncertain.

    By this time, the Spiritomb nearby had managed to fully form it's gaseous shape. The Spiritomb floated upwards, stone and all, and approached them. Even though the grin on it's face didn't appear all that sinister, there was still something eerie about the way it moved about.

    "And this is my Spiritomb, Alegría. She seems happy to meet you," Eraizaa continued, nodding over at the Spiritomb and grinning as well. He and Alegría then began heading towards the direction the secretary had pointed before she had rushed off, "Well, let's go."

    “Right behind you,” Akinai answered, though she was not certain that Eraizaa had heard. She was still trying to get over the fact that the person she was paired with had a Spiritomb partner as well, and appeared to actually get along with the creature. Sure, she had brought Magi along, but she planned to use him as only a last resort; the spirit didn't appear to like her at all, but if there was no other option he would grudgingly listen.

    Jade was carefully watching the newcomer Pokemon as well, her tail twitching as her eyes followed the Spiritomb as it (possibly a she? The name sounded feminine...) followed Eraizaa closely. The Flygon had little love for the species as well, having fought them twice and dealing with Magi on a daily basis.

    “I'm not too happy about it either, Jade, but we have to make due for now,” Akinai murmured to her starter, lightly patting the Flygon's shoulder as she walked forward to catch up. Nothing to worry about at all, just two Spiritomb out in an abandoned building after dark... she slightly shuddered as she thought about this, then tried to squash the thought out of her mind. Maybe thinking about what lay ahead was not the best idea after all. Thankfully, by this time they had reached their destination, and Eraizaa was already opening the door, exclaiming about something that lay within. Curious, Akinai took a step closer to catch a glimpse...

    The next thing Akinai knew was an odd sensation, then being forcibly moved somewhere currently unseen. Once the area around them finally came back into focus, she noticed two changes. The first, most obvious difference was that they were now outdoors, near a concrete building that had obviously seen better years. The second change, one she fully became aware of as she picked herself off the ground, was that there was another person nearby, someone she recognized from her first visit to the Park.

    "Hey there Akinai, good to see you again, and you must be Eraizaa," the Ranger said, shaking both of their hands before continuing, "My name is James Carter, although I'm known to go by Chainy. Long story, don't ask. Anyway, I'll be leading you two through the Abandoned Power Plant, which as you can see is right behind us."

    “Likewise,” Akinai said, now grinning as she realized just who the one free Ranger was. She had been meaning to contact Chainy for a while now. After she had managed to befriend and capture a Kirlia, his Gallade appeared to have an interest in the young Pokemon's safety. The Kirlia, now fully evolved, was actually on her current team. Lia had been excited to meet the two someday again as well; finally, something had actually worked perfectly today.

    With greetings out of the way, the group walked over towards the building's entrance. Before they could enter however, a pair of yellow Pokemon approached them. They were both almost identical in appearance, even squeaking out a greeting in unison.

    "Well, that's a cute way to start off our Expedition," Chainy said. "Either of you two feel like trying to capture a Pichu?"

    “Well...” Akinai trailed off, trying to decide what to do next. Pichu were rather common, even available for purchase in most pet stores. Plus, they were not very strong compared to other Electric-types out there. That factor meant little to her most of the time though; two of her most-used battling Pokemon in group fights in the past was a Glaceon and Mightyena. She stole a glance over at Eraizaa, seeing if he had any thoughts on the matter. Unfortunately, he appeared just as conflicted about the situation. It all boiled down to the point of if she really wanted to use a Doll so early in the Run to escape. “I guess it would be a good warm-up for trying to work as a team,” Akinai finally admitted, and looked over at her starter. “Jade, mind a bit of exercise?”

    Jade, who appeared none too happy about being thrown about to a new location, slowly hovered over to the two Pichu. She gave a light snort as if to say, What, I'm fighting children now?

    “Consider it training on how to pull punches,” Akinai remarked to Jade, then looked over at Eraizaa. “I'll let you pick which one you want as your opponent first. On the free one, my Flygon will try to hit with a Flamethrower. Ready?”

    Jade, overhearing her trainer's suggestion, readied her attack. She began to take a deep breath, and small tongues of fire escaped from her mouth, eager to be let free.

    Soon after suddenly being teleported, we found ourselves right in front of the Power Plant we wanted to visit. For a moment I thought that things were going to slow down a bit. I sort of felt like I needed it after the chaos at the outpost. But, that wasn't the case as the Ranger greeted us and immediately gestured us to follow him into the building. I smiled and sighed a bit, readying myself mentally for whatever we were about to face.

    And that's when they showed up, a couple of Pichu. They seem to just be happily strolling out of the Power Plant when they suddenly found themselves face to face with us. I kind of wanted to capture a Pichu, but they were so common and I would usually come in these expeditions to find rarer Pokemon, but a Pichu might make a good addition to the team. Then again, so would most Electric types inside the building ahead of us.

    I looked towards Akinai to see if she was interested in them. She didn't seem to want to use a Pokedoll, so, I guess we had only one option. I listened as she explained her plan with her Flygon who seemed not so happy about having to battle these cute creatures.

    I nodded towards her and said, "I'll take the girl on the right, but..." I made a small pause while I took out a Pokeball. "...let's work together on this as practice."

    "Galateah, it's show time!" I called out as I threw the ball forward.

    The Pokeball opened up in midair letting out a flash of light which quickly took the form of a Butterfree.

    "Galateah, team up with Flygon...I mean, Jade, and use Safeguard," I commanded with a somewhat excited tone.

    Galateah simply stood there, staring at Jade admiringly as if watching a movie star.

    "Galateah!" I shouted to get her attention.

    The Butterfree shook her head for a moment and flew right over the Flygon letting out a blue light that attempted to cover both Pokemon as a protective aura. Hopefully that would help in the battle while getting Jade's trust. That is, if it worked.

    I waited for Jade's Flamethrower to be over and added, "Help out with Tailwind!"

    Galateah nodded and began to fly around swiftly creating a strong wind that would hopefully aid the team in moving faster. I knew Galateah was at a type disadvantage, so I had to make sure she became harder to hit. And I was pretty sure Jade didn't mind a speed boost either. Still, I had to pay attention to the battle. Soon Galateah had to switch to the offensive if we wanted to win this battle.

    Meanwhile, Alegría had moved a bit from my side and was now standing right between me and Akinai. She was excited to be watching this battle where her friend would team up with someone else and hopefully make a new friend as well. She was very optimistic.

    The Spiritomb began to her gaseous form side to side much like a pompom while cheering, "Tomb tomb, Spiritomb!"

    Personally, I appreciated the gesture and knew Galateah might appreciate it too. I wasn't too sure what Akinai and her Flygon would think about it though. I just kept concentrating in the battle and let Alegría be. I mean, what harm could her cheering do anyways?

    ~~~~~
    “Well, I guess it would be a good warm-up for trying to work as a team,” Akinai replied slowly, as if she wasn't quite sure of what she was saying. I got the dinstinct feeling that Akinai hadn't tag-battled before. “Jade, mind a bit of exercise?” she asked the Dragon-type behind her. The Flygon hovered over to the two Pichu and sniffed them before snorting dismissively. It was pretty clear to everyone what she thought of the two small Electric-types, including the Pichu themselves. They both balled up their fists and shook them at the Flygon hovering above as sparks jumped from their cheeks. Jade still wasn't very impressed, and returned to Akinai to tell her so.
    “Consider it training on how to pull punches,” Akinai said to Jade in a stern tone of voice. She then turned to Eraizaa. “I'll let you pick which one you want as your opponent first. On the free one, my Flygon will try to hit with a Flamethrower. Ready?” she asked him.
    Eraizaa nodded. "I'll take the girl on the right, but... let's work together on this as practice. Galateah, it's showtime!" He pulled out a PokeBall and threw it into the air. It burst open in a flash of white light and revealed the chittering form of a Butterfree. It looked around and saw Jade hovering over Akinai's shoulder, and immediately fell silent.
    "Galateah, team up with Flygon - I mean, Jade, and use Safeguard," Akinai ordered.
    Galateah didn't seem to notice. She was watching Jade with what seemed like admiration, for some reason I couldn't divine. Perhaps it was because the Dragon-type was so good at flying without being a Flying-type, but I wasn't sure. She was completely motionless, except for the gentle movement of her wings that kept her aloft.
    "Galateah!" Eraizaa shouted sharply.
    The Butterfree shook suddenly, as if she was being startled out of a trance. She threw her Trainer an apologetic look before moving towards Jade. The Bug-type started to glow a soft blue, and the light began drifting downwards, looking kind of like snow. The particles fell down onto Jade, fading as they landed on her, coating the Mystic Pokemon in a protective shield. Jade steadfastly ignored the drifting blue particles and reared her head back. She opened her mouth, and I could see flickers of red dance in her maw. The Flygon darted forwards, moving like a striking snake, and a stream of fire billowed out towards the Pichu. The one on the left tried to shake its hand free, but the right one refused to move. Finally, the left one succeeded in wrenching its hand free and pushed the right one out of the path of the Flamethrower. It gave a heart-wrenching squeak as it saw its partner coated in flame.
    Jade passed over the Pichu and cut the fire, and the Electric-type re-emerged. It was panting and it coughed a little cloud of smoke, but it didn't look too hurt. Still, there was a black patch of charred fur on the top of its head that I could have sworn wasn't there before. It laid on the ground, trying to gather the energy to get up.
    "Help out with Tailwind!" Eraizaa ordered.
    The Butterfree began flying around in quick circles, summoning swift-moving winds. They blew across the arena, ruffling the Pichu's ears and Jade's wings. The Butterfree would no doubt be a great asset to Jade in the battle, but the trick would be making sure that the Bug-type wasn't fried by an errant bolt of electricity.
    Meanwhile, the Pichu had managed to get back onto its feet. It shared a quick look with its friend, and they both stood up in unison. The non-charred one started performing a little dance, that involved lots of clapping as the other looked on. Jade banked and was passing over them when the Pichu made their move. The dancing one abruptly stopped, and high-fived the other. There was a sudden rush of white light, which gathered around the charred one's hand. It then slammed the white energy into the ground, and thick vines erupted out of the ground. Quick as a flash, they wrapped around Jade and pulled her to the ground. The Flygon was held tight, secured around her body, wings, and tail. Her hands and legs scrabbled against the earth, trying to break free, but it was no good. The Grass Knot seemed to have been imbued with more power than normal, especially considering the user was a baby Pichu. It'd be interesting to see how Akinai and Eraizaa responded to this.
    OOC: hmm...I wonder what gender it could be. : P
    And so it had begun. Galateah, having finally come to, flew right over Jade and attempted to make her Safeguard which, by the looks of it, it had worked great. The blueish aura was covering both Pokemon which meant they were now protected. The Flygon was now ready to make her move as she flew forward and released her flames. It really looked like both Pichu were going to be enveloped by the Flamethrower when, at the last moment, the Pichu on the left pushed the one on the right out of the way taking in the full force of the attack.
    That's when Galateah had her chance of helping a bit more. She began flying around swiftly creating a strong wind. The Pichu tried to hold their ground, but that wind wasn't meant to blow them away. It was meant to push our team forward. I was certain that should help both Jade and Galateah move faster and avoid attacks, but the Pichu had managed to pull something off. Grass suddenly stretched rapidly out of the ground and tried themselves to Jade. The Flygon had been taken down from the air and was now in trouble. We had to do something to help.
    "Galateah, get in there with Silverwind!" I exclaimed with a stressed tone. I needed my Butterfree to understand how important it was for her to manage an attack at the moment.
    Galateah used the force of the wind behind her to move forward, attempting to fly in circles around both Pichu as she released a silvery dust into the air. She tried her best to lift that shiny whirlwind around the Pichu to deal some damage. As the attack started to take some shape, she began flying higher to give it more of a boost.
    "Add in Sleep Powder," I said as I pointed forward.
    The Butterfree did as instructed and released a shimmery blue dust into the wind she was creating. If the combo went over well, the blue dust being carried over a Silverwind right under the moonlight was definitely a sight to behold. Galateah might not be sassy, but she enjoyed feeling pretty and turning her moves into works of art. She was definitely the childish artist between my Pokemon.
    "Get ready to Akinai," I said to my teammate as the attack itself was being performed.
    If it went well, Jade could take the opportunity to escape and retaliate. I was curious to see what she would do next. Alegría kept on cheering either way since she felt it was important. I did have to admit, even though we just started, teaming up was already making the expedition more exciting.
