As the attacks between the two Pokemon were exchanged Tiberius pulled out his Pokedex and started to scan both Pokemon. I frowned at this because he should already know what moves his Empoleon knew or could use, it was a mark of a trainer who knew his Pokemon. I knew this was a green trainer, not having a lot of experience, but it was clear to me that he still had ways to go.

After receiving the information from his Pokedex Tiberius tried a new route of battle. He recalled his Empoleon and in its steed he sent the red bug Pokemon called Scizor. Scizor was Bug and Steel, making it a deadly combo against the young Abra. Scizor knew a good number of Bug typed moves, and a direct hit from one of those could greatly wound the Psychic type.

But as the Pokemon switched out Abra took the opportunity to raise its defense by using the move Barrier. Abra held its small hands out in front of and for a brief second I could see the shimmer of distorted light as the Abra created the Barrier using Psychic energy. It would better protect it from physical moves.

“Scizor, use you’re Bullet Punch attack now!” Tiberius called to his Pokemon as soon as it became oriented on the battle. The Scizor may have been a slow species but Bullet Punch was a move that didn’t require a Pokemon to be fast for it to be fast. Scizor was a blur as it moved towards the wild Pokemon.

“Use your Double Team, Scizor!” the trainer called when Scizor neared the Abra. On his command the Scizor split into four copies, all converging on the Abra.

The Abra waited for the Scizor to near and then it moved. It lashed out with a fist just as the real Scizor brought a thick claw down. Both attacks hit but I saw a flash of light so brief that I almost missed it completely.

As the Scizor beat its wings to retreat after using the Double Team, Abra brought both hands up and electricity immediately began to form around the smaller Pokemon. The Pokemon fired a beam of yellow energy at Scizor. It was a fairly weak move but the attack still managed to hit Scizor.

The Abra took advantage of me switching out Empoleon, and used Barrier to boost its defense. Scizor used Bullet Punch but Abra countered with a Drain Punch attack, a small light flashed from between Scizor, and Abra it was so fast I could only see a spark. Double Team didn’t do all I wanted it to but I didn’t think it would although, it was a good try I needed to make sure that Scizor defense was up, and that Abra didn’t do to much damage to Scizor. Right as Scizor retreated back Abra put together his little hands, and electricity immediately began to form in the palm of his hands. A few seconds went by then Abra fired the yellow beam of electricity at Scizor, the attack hit Scizor but did little damage to her. I recognized that attack it was a Charge Beam a weak electric attack but I was surprised by Abra Barrier, Drain Punch, and Charge Beam all pushed together as one combo, this little Pokemon was smart I liked that about it and that made me want it all the more. Strategy Time the plan was to boost Scizor’s defense attack, and her speed but I would still need to attack Abra to weaken it enough to capture it with that said, I would have Scizor use Iron Defense, Swords Dance, and Agility, then I could use Pursuit to weaken it the use my Hyperball to catch it. Just as I thought I had it all planed out I remembered that Scizor learned False Swipe attack, a move that could not KO; a Pokemon but it would drop its HP to one hit point that would increase my chances of capture by a great amount if the move works. I would have to take the chance, and use a Night Slash attack, and hope that it does not KO; it then use False Swipe attack to drop it to nothing after that I could use the Hyperball to catch it. Now there was no guarantee that all this would work but if I play my cards right I could end this battle quick, and easy with no problems then I could leave this place and start a new journey somewhere, but now was not the time to get ahead of my self I needed to focus on the battle, and Scizor was still waiting for me to give her my commands.

“Okay Scizor use you’re Iron Defense now”

Scizor looked at me and gave me a nod. Scizor’s body began to sparkle I could tell that she was using her powers to boost her defense like I wanted just by looking at her you could what move she used, her outside armor was nice and bright if I didn’t now better I would say that Scizor had a new layer of armor on. After she was done using her move I gave her my next command.

“Now use you’re Swords Dance Scizor”

Scizor began to dance but in a funny way she hopped up, and down did some twists but any real trainer could see that her eyes were not the some color as before, they had changed to a dark blue color now. Scizor finished her move with her attack, and defense up all I had to do was get her speed up so, I called out my last command to Scizor.

“Great job Scizor now, use you’re attack Agility”

Scizor put her arms down then gave them a quick shake. She had full control over her body, by loosening up all her muscles Scizor would boost her speed just enough for this battle. Now my job was done it was time to wait, and see what Abra would do next I got a good look at its move pool so right now, the move that I didn’t wanted Abra to use was Fire Punch. since Scizor was a Bug Steel type that move would hurt the most next too Encore, that move would buy Abra time to lunch powerful strikes against Scizor. I was looking at this in the worse possible situation for three reasons, one always be five steps ahead of your opponent which means know your opponents move before he makes it, that way you can prepare for the worse case scenario and counter it. Reason two was that if I can’t tell what the opponent will do I will still have a idea of what might happen, but this way I can also switch out to prevent Abra from do more harm. Minimizing the damage my Pokemon takes was the key to winning the battle. Reason three never let the opponent get the upper hand, and most of all never underestimate your opponent it didn’t matter if the Pokemon is small or big never underestimate anyone anywere any time.

Dusknoir and Sela conversed for a moment, and eventually the large Ghost simply nodded once. It then faced Siless and gave another single nod, clearly giving the young man the go-ahead to take its picture. Siless snapped a photograph of the Ghost, who then faced Sela. She nodded serenely at the Ghost and it gave us one final look before turning and vanishing into the shadows around us.

Sela then faced her Trainer, and though she wasn’t addressing me directly, a long bond with my Sigilyph meant I was rather sensitive to psionic communication. I caught a vague but sufficient portrayal of what she had learned as she relayed it to Siless; the Dusknoir was preventing Trainers from taking this route because there were young Duskull in a cave it connected to. The Duskull hadn’t learned how to control how much life energy they drew from others yet, so they unwillingly put anyone coming into the cavern at risk of being completely drained of their life. I made a mental note to make sure all the Rangers were aware of this, as well as ensuring information was posted at the Outpost warning of the potential dangers.

As we turned to leave, Siless popped a new Voice Disc into the PokePlayer and hit the play button. The cry of a Solosis started ringing from the speakers, seemingly loud because of the narrow path we were in. It echoed for several minutes, but no Solosis appeared to inspect the source of the call. Another Pokemon did, though; almost as soon as the Solosis cry faded, a small black Pokemon quite literally flew from a shadow above us. It had two large red eyes and long arms; in its tail it gripped a golden mask.

“A Yamask,” I said softly as the Pokemon came over, looking around expectantly. It was as if it was looking for the Solosis that had made the cry. After a moment it noticed the PokePlayer in Siless’s hands and stared fixedly at the device, a look of wistful yearning coming into its eyes. I watched it with a fair level of discomfort; Yamask were supposedly the Ghosts of humans who had long since passed on. It always made me feel strange to think about battling and catching them, even though I had a Cofagrigus of my own that I had raised from a Yamask obtained from a friend some months ago.

Tiberius watched as Abra delivered a quick flurry of combo attacks at Scizor, who reeled from the blows but was still in the fight. The Abra teleported a small distance away from the Scizor, giving Tiberius a second to think of his strategy.

It didn’t take the trainer very long to think of a new move. “Okay, Scizor, use your Iron Defense now. Followed by Swords Dance and Agility!” It seemed Tiberius wanted to work on the stat boost of his Pokemon, not a bad choice, but something that could backfire in the long run if he wasn’t careful.

Scizor started the exchange by focusing his energy to raise his stats as his trainer had commanded. The Iron Defense was the first move he had order so that was what Scizor concentrated on first. Its glossy red coat shone once as it added another layer of iron to its already impressive defense.

The Abra saw the Pokemon raising its stats and saw the opportunity to strike. One of its fists flashed red as the Pokemon coated its fist with flame. I cringed at this, a Fire move would hurt the Bug and Steel Pokemon. Abra teleported and lashed out with his fist, but when it connected with the form of Scizor it simply vanished, only to reappear a moment later. Abra had struck one of the copies, doing no damage.

The Abra was startled by this, giving the Scizor the opportunity to began the dance that would raise its attack. The Bug Pokemon resembled a whirling dancer because of the speed of its movements. Abra studied the moving forms of Scizor before it started to clap at Scizor. I recognized it as Encore. By imbuing a small amount of Psychic energy with the movement, Abra could force Scizor to keep using the Swords Dance.

The Abra next settled down and crossed its legs, keeping its eyes closed as it concentrated. It body began to glow a purple in color, quickly followed by the rest of its body and then the multiple bodies of Scizor.

The Abra seemed pleased with itself, that was until Scizor had stopped its movements. The Abra tilted its head in thought, then it realized that its Encore attack had missed the Scizor, just like the Fire Punch it had missed the real form. Abra was not pleased with the events and it would strike hard next, Tiberius had best be careful how he dealt with the Abra.

A Yamask appeared and approached the Poképlayer. It seemed to be interested in the sounds it made, almost like it was familiar to the ghost-type. I didn't exactly want to catch a Yamask, but I wasn't opposed to it running around with us if it wanted. If nothing else, we ould try to find it some new friends out here, if it wanted to tag along.

I did wonder if it could help me out, though. I hit play on the Poképlayer, once again triggering the Solosis cries that drew it to us.

"Do you know where any of these are?" Sela also asked, though she went more in-depth, detailing our need for Psychic-types; we had already strayed with Zorua, and even though it was rare and useful enough to warrant it, we wanted to focus on getting more Psychic-types onto the team.

Scizor’s was finishing her Iron Defense move when I saw Abra make a fist, it then began to flash red right before it was engulfed in a flame. Abra Teleported over to Scizor, and lashed out at her and when the attack hit Scizor vanished then reappeared. Abra was startled by this the look on its face was confusion, it didn’t undurestand what had happened at that moment. Scizor then began to use Swords Dance, Abra stared at Scizor for a moment then began to clap at Scizor. I just new it the little jerk was using Encore, a move that would allow Abra to make Scizor keep using Swords Dance. I couldn’t believe it first Fire Punch then, Encore both move I didn’t want to see used in this battle were used that’s just bad luck if you ask me. Abra looked pleased with it self so, it then crossed its legs closed its eyes and concentrated hard its body began to glow purple, I had no clue what it was doing that was until it multiplied it self. I now new what move it had used it was Psych Up, a move that copied the stats of the opponent and since Scizor’s speed attack, and evasion were all up I was now it trouble that was until I remembered that Night Slash was a physical attack, and since Abra’s defense was up I could use the attack but with it I could still KO; it and I was not about to take that chance with the bad luck I had. Abra looked up Psych Up had worked then I saw that smug look on Abra’s face, I coundn’t stand it was so pleased with itself that was until Scizor stopped what he was doing, and Abra just tilted its head at Scizor I could tell it was in a deep thought, then it realized that its Encore attack had missed my Scizor, just like the Fire Punch had missed the real form of my Scizor. Abra was not pleased with occurrences that just took place, that smug look turned into a evil glare Abra was pissed off. I knew what attack I was going to use the question was how do I use it, I needed two move to use the combo just the one would not do, and with Abra getting more powerful by the minute I needed to end this battle fast. So what I need to do is hit Abra hard, and fast and do it with out allowing it time to counter attack. I had a few move in mind that I could us the first one was Fury Cutter, that move got more powerful the more I used it the second one was Wing Attack and the third was Pursuit the one I wanted to use in the first place, but didn’t because I thought I could get away with a Night Slash but after a recalculation that was out the risk was to high for me. Right now I had to figure out how I was going to strike against Abra, this next attack needed to work for me to capture this Pokemon and I was going to capture him one way or another now, strategy time again I could boost my defense again, and see if Abra uses Psych Up again then I could use Night Slash and False Swipe but I had to rely Abra to use that move again, and chances are it would not so, that one was out for now I would keep that option on the table until I come up with a better one. The next combo that I had in mind was use Fury Cutter and Iron defense, that way if Abra trys to use Encore again Furry Cutter whet first unless it uses Encore first then I was screwed. I still had two combos left one of them was use Double Team again the use Fury Cutter that way Abra’s chances of hit go down more, and I get a good hit on it that is if we can hit it with its evasion up all my move had a chance of missing now so, no matter what I do there was a chance that whatever plan I chose it now could fail and backfire on me. Last combo was Bullet Punch Quick attack, and False Swipe all put to gether, would that work I didn’t know if Scizor could use two move like that giving the nature of them both being moves that hit first so, that would interesting to find out but right now was not the time to experiment, this was the time to end the battle.

“Okay Scizor, here what i want you to do use you’re Fury Cutter then use you’re False Swip attack got it!?”

Scizor looked at me with a bit of confusion on her face then took of running for Abra, one claw began to glow blue the other began to glow white. I could tell that the blue claw was Fury Cutter because, Scizor hits with her right claw first and since that claw was blue that was the one that would hit first then, she would hit with her left it would be like two punchs to Abra if they hit two big punchs at that.

Tiberius must have been startled by the events of the proceeding moves because he appeared to be deep in thought about was his next plan of attack. He must have thought of a move to use because his head lifted and he stared at his Scizor.

“Okay, Scizor, here’s what I want you to do, use your Fury Cutter then use your False Swipe attack. Got it!”

I look of confusion passed by on Scizor’s face but it must have banished such thoughts because it moved forward, each claw glowing a separate color. One claw turned blue, that was Fury Cutter, while the other turned white, False Swipe. Despite Scizor being very fast with the Agility move, the Abra was just as fast with the Psych Up move. Before Scizor was halfway there a purple and black orb of energy crashed into Scizor, doing little damage, but slowing the Pokemon slightly.

Scizor paid no head to the Shadow Ball and quickly upon Abra. It brought both claws up in an ‘x’ and brought them down forcefully on the Abra sitting calmly on the rock. To my surprise the attacks passed right through the Abra and right into the rock, easily splitting it and causing cracks to appear. Abra had tricked the Scizor into hitting one of its Double Team clones.

The Scizor scowled at both its attacks missing, but it didn’t have time do dwell on its mistake because a large glowing ball of electricity shot from one of the Abras and struck Scizor on the side, flinging the Pokemon back more than a few feet. Scizor tried to raise but its muscle spasmed, causing the Pokemon to fall to one knee. The move must have been Zap Cannon, a very powerful electric move that caused the Pokemon to be instantly paralyzed when it came into contact.

Tiberius was no doubt betting on the battle ending soon, but with that combo he was in trouble because the Abra was showing no signs of slowing down.

Both my attack had missed, and Abra countered with a Shadow Ball and Zap Cannon combo which both move hit, and on top of that Scizor was now paralyzed. I didn’t see how this battle could get worse I wanted to just Ko; Abra but this pokemon was worth all the trouble it was giving me, and soon I would have it but until then I would have to deal with it. Its clear to me now what I had to do Abra’s, fighting spirit would have to be beaten out of it so, now I would have Scizor attack with out mercy, I will break this Abra one way or another. So the first thing I needed to do was hit it hard, and I new just how and what move to use.

“Scizor use you’re Pursuit attack, then False Swipe okay?”

    “Scizor!!”

She was more the ready to knock the light out Abra but I still needed to catch it. I liked Pursuit it allowed me to hit a pokemon as it switched out of the battle but the only reason I was using it was because, it was dark type move and with Abra’s defense up I could get away with hitting it once, and that would be all. It was now time to wait and see what Abra does.

I saw the trainer curse with his misfortune as both his attacks missed, but I also saw the suddenly resolve, easily apparent by the clenching of his jaw. Both trainer and Pokemon wanted this victory, both were holding nothing back and giving as good as they got.

“Scizor, use your Pursuit attack, then False Swipe, okay?” Tiberius command his Pokemon.

“Scizor!” the Pokemon responded strongly, also wanting to finish this battle and capture the small Abra that was giving it a solid fight.

The Bug Pokemon crouched and launched itself at Abra, one claw glowing black and other white. Scizor was moving visibly slower now that it was paralyzed, but not slow enough for the Abra to easily dodge. The Pokemon saw it coming and decided to meet force with force.

The Pokemon closed its eyes, put its palms forward and began to chant under its breath. Four red orbs of energy appeared around it pointing towards the four corners. Suddenly the orbs burst into small floating balls of flame. Abra’s eyes blazed open, its focus absolute as it called upon the move Hidden Power. It made a pushing motion with a hand and the orbs formed up in a line and shot forward at Scizor. All four managed to clip the Scizor on its limbs and body, but the Steel type pushed forward.

Abra frowned and started to weave another attack. This one was white with scarlet, cyan, and gold running through it. I knew it to be a Tri-Attack move based off the colors that ran through it. Such a move was a decently strong Normal typed attack, but what made it deadly was that it could produce paralysis, burn, and frozen status.

Just as it finished forming the attack the Scizor reached it and brought down both claws upon the Abra, causing a bright flash. I was forced to avert my eyes and wait to see what happened. When I returned back to the fighting scene I saw that Abra was clearly woozy and just barely able to stand on its two feet.

The Scizor was slightly better, but not by much, it too was breathing hard. It was time for Tiberius to attempt a capture for this Abra, it couldn’t sustain much more damage.

Yamask didn’t reply as Siless played the Solosis Disc again, instead intently staring at the PokePlayer. When the cry died away, the Ghost’s focused expression became somewhat forlorn; it then slowly backed away until it had vanished into the shadows. I waited a moment to see if it would come back, but it seemed it was gone for good.

As the sound of the Solosis cry bounced off the stone around us, I noticed movement to the left. I glanced over and saw a tiny pink shape peeking at us from around a small boulder. It was a Cleffa, the Baby form of Clefable; it was little and quite cute, but I was far from cocky. A scared Cleffa could use Metronome and end up getting a powerful attack like Flamethrower or Explosion, a fact most people forgot when encountering a Cleffa. Many times I’d seen Trainers escorted out with fainted teams after deciding something as small as a Cleffa couldn’t be any danger.

I quietly pointed out the Pokemon to Siless by tapping his shoulder and pointing at the little fairy as it slowly scooted from behind the rock, as if trying to get a better look at us. I didn’t know if he’d want to try catching it, but we’d have to be smart if he did.

Yamask didn't respond well to the Solosis cry, and it faded away into the shadows. I had to wonder if I struck a nerve, but it wasn't something I could really change. Sara interrupted my thought process; she pointed out a small Cleffa edging closer to us. I had caught a Cleffa my first time through the park after witnessing an unfortunate incident with its mother. While I didn't really want to capture another one, I wasn't going to leave without at least checking on this one.

"Are you lost, little one? Or have you gone out on your own?" I knew most Cleffa waited until they evolved into Clefairy to leave the nest, though some went off before then, completely able to survive on their own. If it was alright, there would be no worries and I could push on with my search for a Solosis, but if it was lost, we could search for its family or friends.

Cleffa simply stared at Siless for a moment, then gave a shrill little cry as it leapt onto the rock it was standing behind. There was a rustle and then several Clefable emerged from behind several other large rocks in the area. None of them said anything or even moved after revealing themselves, and the whole thing was quite eerie. Flutter shifted uneasily on my shoulder; even though Clefable were generally shy and avoided people, there were a small number of documented cases of them acting aggressively. The worst part was there was no clear indication of why they’d attacked.

Thankfully, the gathered Clefable didn’t seem to mean any harm. One went over to collect the Cleffa before hurriedly going down one of the other paths, and the others quickly followed. I could only guess that they’d been keeping an eye on the Cleffa as it explored, but it was weird there were so many of them. Clefable weren’t known to travel in groups of more than two or three, after all, and there’d been maybe seven of them.

I then noticed one of the Clefable hadn’t left with its brethren. It was standing there, a passive look on its face as it stared at Siless. It was a little creepy, admittedly; blank stares had a way of making me uncomfortable.

A horde of Clefable came out to protect the little Cleffa. As bad as the situation could have been, I found myself breathing a sigh of relief for the Cleffa; I didn't want to see anything bad happen to it after what I had witnessed before. Most of the Clefable and the Cleffa ran off after a short while, so everything seemed alright. However, one Clefable stayed with us. I wondered whether it meant to confront me for approaching Cleffa, or if it wanted me to take it with us. I didn't really want to catch this one either; the Clefable I had caught here as a Cleffa earlier would be more jealous of the fully grown Clefable than the young Cleffa.

"I just wanted to make sure that Cleffa was alright," I told the Clefable that stayed. As Sela translated, I prepared my Poképlayer once more. The Solosis cry, which sounded rather bubbly, echoed once more throughout the cave. "Do you perhaps know where one of these are?"

Scizor got closer to the Abra, and instead of it dodging the attack Abra would meet force with force and put up little hands and began to chant under its breath. Four red orbs of energy appeared around it pointing towards the four corners. Suddenly the orbs burst into small floating balls of fire. Abra’s eyes blazed open, its focus absolute as it called upon its Power. It made a pushing motion with a hand and the orbs formed up in a line and shot forward at my Scizor. The attack hit Scizor but she pushed on for Abra, when the psychic Pokemon smiled at me. Then it began to use it power again this time it was a Tri Attack, which was better then the Hidden Power attack that it just used. although the Tri Attack hit my Scizor she continued on. When Scizor got up to Abra she brought down her claws like hammers on Abra’s head. There was a bright light that made me close my eyes, when I opened them Abra looked like it got hit with a bus the woozy Pokemon could barely stand on its own two feet. Scizor was no better I could tell that she was done with battle so, it was time for me to end this. I took out my Hyperball, took aim at Abra then through it right at it, the ball sailed over Scizor head would this work I didn’t know but I was about to find out.

The Ralts was timid at first but was completely up for the challenge. The Venomoth took a real liking to her trainer and obeyed every attack without flaw. “Okay, so here’s what we’ll do. We’re going to try and get this over with as quickly as possible to try and keep your hit points intact. First, lay down a good layer of Sleep Powder to knock Ralts out, or at the very least make her so drowsy she can’t concentrate properly on attacking. After that, bolster your Speed and Special Defense with a Quiver Dance, then go in for a Psychic.”

This trainer sure had a excellent strategy in play. The Venomoth was moving quickly and flapped her wings quickly in order to release the special powder stored within her wings. The clear, diamond-like mist enveloped the Ralts, making it drowsy. It was trying to fire off a Psychic but in order to do that it needed to have its eyes open. Ralts had its eyelids half lidded. With that, the Venomoth was moving like it was having a seizure, god forbid but it wasn't. Seeing the glow on the Venomoth, Kiryu had guessed it was Quiver Dance. It was basically a triple threat. It increased Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed. It was like a Psychic Shell Smash without the drawback of defense. Once the Quiver Dance was out of the way, Venomoths' eyes glowed a soft powdery blue and released a hard psychic wall right into the Ralts. It would do a bit of damage.

Tiberius watched the exchange of attacks with interest before dropping his pack and rummaging around in it. He eventually pulled up with a Hyperball, the best type of ball one could use for use in the National Park.

He pressed the center ball to enlarge it and threw it at Abra. The small Psychic Pokemon was focused upon the Scizor and didn’t see it in time to teleport away. With a crimson flash it was sucked inside.

The ball fell to the rocky earth and hit with a solid thunk. It wiggled frantically as Abra tried to escape it. After a few tense moments on Tiberius’s part it settled down with a ding, signaling the Pokemon was captured.

“Nicely done,” I said, walking over and grabbing the Abra and the Black Apricorn it had left behind. “Let’s get out of here.” Despite the run being very short Tiberius had commented to me that he had wanted to leave, he didn’t like this area very well anymore.

I led us back to the gate, dealing with any Pokemon that wandered by. Once we exited I handed over the apricorn and Abra over to Tiberius before wishing him luck and leaving.

Clefable blinked slowly at Siless’s explanation, then shivered visibly when the Trainer played his Solosis Voice Disc again. I frowned as the shivering got worse, until Clefable almost seemed to be having a fit of some kind. I was worried something was wrong with it, but before I could go check it, a sort of haze that was almost impossible to see in the darkness rose from Clefable. It soon took on a physical form, revealing itself as a Banette.

Afterward, Clefable looked around dazedly before tottering off, obviously having been the victim of possession. It would be fine after a few hours to get its wits back, though it would probably have a healthy mistrust of Ghosts for a while. After Clefable had wandered away, Banette grinned wickedly at Siless and raised its arms, clearly looking for a battle.

When Banette appeared, I swore I could feel large wave of hatred coming from the closed Pokéball on my belt. I was already not enthusiastic about catching the Banette, but when I looked to Sela to see if she wanted to add it to the team, she shook her head no and motioned to Missy's Pokéball. It seemed that the two ghost types were just incompatable.

"I don't think this would be a good idea to catch." I prepared the voice disc for when we could get away from Banette, though I couldn't be sure that we'd get out of there without hassle. "Sela, keep your eye on Banette until we're out of here." I really wasn't looking forward to having to fight the puppet Pokémon.

    Ranger Joe Smith

Joe looked up from his desk and looked at the pile of paper work that was stack up on his desk. He sighed and removed one of the pieces of paper, slamming it down in front of him. "This is why you don't go on a 6 month vacation," he said to himself as he started to work his way through the paper work. A small black bird yawned in the corner, as it lay on the sofa. Joe looked up at his Murkrow and envied his Pokemon. Pokemon's lives were so calm and less stressful and the only time a Pokemon gets stressed is if it's in a battle.

A young intern knocked on Joe's office door and said, "Excuse me Mr Smith, you have been asked by one of the Heads to take a group of trainers through Meteor Valley." Joe face lit up, finally he had an excuse to get out of the office. He stood up and took the two files from the intern and signalled him away. He opened the file and noticed that they were two frequent trainers to the park. He looked down at their names and remembered one of them quite well. Her name was Akinai and she had previously visited Mt. Oktori. Joe had the pleasure to take her through and he remembered she caught a Scraggy and a Meinfoo. Joe looked down at the other name and started to wonder where he had heard that name before.

Joe walked towards the couch and said, "Scar, it looks like we've got another job." Murkrow cried and flew up to Joe's arm. Joe removed a small red and white ball and called Xatu forth. Xatu appeared opposite Joe and stretched its wings. Joe gave Xatu a rub behind the ear.

"Alright Xatu, can you teleport us to the Ranger Outpost outside Meteor Valley entrance."

Xatu agreed and suddenly teleported Joe and Murkrow to the Outpost. Joe thanked Xatu and returned it to his Pokeball, keeping Murkrow on his shoulder. He sat down against a rock and waited for his trainers to arrive.

"Hmm let's see. I've got my Park Balls, my Super Balls, and my Hyper Balls, as well as my camera, and some other random items. I think I should be fine. I just hope that this time around my team run doesn't fade out horribly like my other ones," I said to myself as I was getting ready to go on a team run at Meteor Valley. It had been a while since I went on one, and the last two I went on kinda ended badly after the first encounter. This time I was going with Akinai though. Someone who was reliable, but the total opposite of me when it came to battling from what I could tell. I was an all-out attacker, while she liked to play things on the defensive, and wait things out. Should be fun to see how things would go in a double battle then.

"All right Gardevoir, you're coming along," I said, as I threw Gardevoir's ball in the air, causing her to appear.

I see you waste no time in visiting the park again. Nothing is separating this run, and the previous one aside from a good nights sleep.

"That's right. I don't particularly care to waste time, and I'm going to Meteor Valley. Who knows maybe I'll be able to get you a nice Psychic-type you could hang around with when I'm not around. Maybe a Ralts," I said to Gardevoir. Speaking of hanging around I was bringing along my Chandelure, a Pokemon who got along very nicely with my Gardevoir, despite their major type difference. A few days ago it ended up having an egg. From it emerged a nice baby Litwick. A Pokemon that I made sure to be extra careful with, and was actually taking along with me here so I knew it'd be safe with me.

"Hey Litwick, you're gonna be coming along with me to Meteor Valley. You can sit on top of my head, but don't set my beautiful hair on fire!" I said, as I placed Litwick on top of my head, where I knew it'd be safe from getting away for the time being.

Gardevoir just looked over, and laughed a bit. No doubt at the idea of hair catching fire.

"Quite you," I said to her. "You know the drill. Teleport us to the Ranger Outpost, and from there we'll just wait for Akinai, and then head off when we're ready," I said to Gardevoir, who teleported us liked I asked. We got to our destination in a matter of seconds, and from there I sat and entertained Litwick as I waited for Akinai to arrive.
