    vs. Pineco BP6

Dragonair’s latest Thunder Wave attack had successfully hit its target, even knocking Pineco back in the process. I found myself cheering a bit for Miho’s Dragonair. However, Miho’s celebration of success would be short lived.

Despite being paralyzed, Pineco managed to prop himself back up. The Pokémon started to spin as if he was drilling a screw into a wall. Then, Pineco’s body became completely submerged underground. The Pokémon had dug himself a tunnel; however, he didn’t come back up. I wasn’t sure if he’d been struck by paralysis while he was underground, or if he was waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Miho decided to take over this small moment and commanded Dragonair to use Dragon Dance. The Pokémon nodded and started to levitate in the air as her eyes started to glow. Then, she started to coil and swirl around in a majestic performance of beauty and grace. As she did so, her body became shrouded in a brilliant glow that signified that she was becoming stronger and faster.

Pineco seemed to stay underground while Dragonair performed her dance. I thought for sure that he would be able to catch her off guard. However, this wasn’t the case. Right after Dragonair’s successful completion of her dance, Pineco emerged from the ground. The Pokémon started to spin at an extreme speed as he rushed towards Dragonair, who’d just finished powering up.

Miho smiles a little as Yuna expertly finishes her dance, landing back on the floor gracefully. The fact Pineco hadn’t attacked meant it was stuck in the ground, just like she thought. However, as soon as the dragon type lands, Pineco emerges, quickly beginning to spin in place before rushing at his foe.

“Gyro ball again?” Miho sighs a little before nodding to her Pokémon. “Alright Yuna, use Dragon Rush!”

The Dragonair’s eyes flash red briefly before launching itself to the oncoming Pineco. The two should collide in midair, and with any luck, Yuna should be the one with more power behind her attack.

    vs. Pineco BP7

“Gyro ball again,” Miho said with a sigh.

I knew all too well how she felt. Last time Pineco had used Gyro Ball, it proved to be quite troublesome for Miho and the aspiring Dragonair. I wondered how she would counter the attack this time around.

“Alright, Yuna,” she said as she nodded to her Pokémon. “Use Dragon Rush.”

Miho’s Dragonair’s eyes started to glow red as she prepared herself for the attack. She lunged her body at the spinning Pineco with all her might. The two Pokémon were heading straight for each other, each lifting themselves up a bit. While in mid-air, the two Pokémon collided with each other.

The sheer power of the two attacks caused a small explosion in the air. A medium-sized puff of smoke burst out and created a sort of veil over the Pokémon, blocking Miho’s and my view from the battle. I covered my eyes to protect them from the sting that the smoke caused when it hit them.

Luxray’s ears perked up a bit. She could probably see what had happened already. As the smoke cleared up, I could slowly see what the outcome of the attack was. Dragonair was sitting up, poised for her next attack. Pineco had been knocked into a nearby tree. A small dent in the tree showed where he’d made impact with it.

I looked over at Yuna, who was breathing kind of hard. There was no doubt in my mind that the last attack had taken a bit of energy to pull off. Pineco hopped back up into an upright position. He started to glow white. I sighed, thinking that the Pokémon was once again resorting to using Gyro Ball. However, waves of pink started to emit from the Pokémon as he spun. Every couple of seconds, a new wave was released.

I’d seen this attack before. It was Secret Power. The attack did normal damage, as well as inflicted a secondary effect on the target if it managed to hit. Since we were near a pond, I guessed the secondary effect would cause Dragonair’s attack power to drop a bit. If Miho didn’t want her Pokémon to take damage, as well as suffer from an attack drop, she would have to find a way to dodge the attack.

Miho bites her lip softly as she saw the Pineco begin to emit waves of pink energy, beginning to spin in place. “Secret power...damnit” The move is completely unpredictable, depending on where they were, and she didn’t want to take a chance. “I need some way to interrupt it...” she thinks, looking at her own Pokémon.

Yuna is obviously tired out from the last attack, and doesn’t look like she would be able to move out of the way in time, or put enough force into an attack in order to interrupt the bug type in time. Miho thinks before sighing a little. “Guess it’s the only way.” Her hand quickly slips into her bag, pulling out a hyper ball. “Alright, all or nothing. “ She swings the ball above her head, sending it flying at the bug type. If this caught it, it was a sure fire way to end the battle right now. If not, it might at least stop it from completing it’s attack.

    vs. Pineco BP8

As the pink waves of destruction (that may be a bit of an exaggeration) shot towards her Dragonair, Miho began to think. I didn’t know what was going through her mind as she took in all that was happening, but I could only guess that she felt Dragonair was too tired to counterattack.

A little bit later, she pulled a gold and black Pokeball from her bag. For a minute, I thought that she was about to send Gardevoir out again, that is, until I realized that this was one of the Pokeballs that we sold at the Park. She must have been intending to stop the attack with a capture. It was pretty daring, I have to admit, but if she managed to pull it off, then, it just might work.

With an underarm toss that would rival any softball player, Miho swung the ball high over her head. The ball spun as it headed for Pineco. It hit Pineco in the head, bounced off and emitted a bright red flash that sucked Pineco within. A bead of sweat trickled down my forehead as I watched the Pokeball shake from side to side.

I knew how horrible Secret Power could be, and it seemed like I was always in tall grass or a building when it did manage to hit. Needless to say, my Pokémon would be poisoned and paralyzed every time. I hated that move, and I felt for Miho if the attack managed to hit.

The Pokeball continued to shake a bit as Pineco struggled to get out. His health wasn’t down by much, so he would have plenty of strength to release himself. However, the fact that Miho had used a Hyperball would balance out Pineco’s abundant health.

A moment later, I could hear the signature sound the signaled that Pineco had been successfully captured. I found myself more excited than Miho was. I walked over and picked up the Pokeball that contained Pineco.

“Congratulations!” I said with a bit of enthusiasm behind my voice. “You’ve managed to capture Pineco!”

Miho nods a little with a slight smile, walking over to take the ball. “Thanks...Pineco is really strong, isn’t it? Should be a good team mate.” She looks over to Yuna, walking over and stroking her head gently. “That was a tough one...you did amazingly.” She smiles again before taking Yuna’s ball from her belt, returning the Pokémon. She turns back to the ranger with a nod, smiling gently. “Where to next?”

[[Aaaand, I have returned. For now. xP. Sorry about the long absence again. If I'm ever too inactive, VMing and VMing or PMing and PMing until I finally post.]]

"Where to next?" Miho said with a smile.

I looked around the area. Numerous bug Pokemon inhabited this area. I tried to find a Pokemon that Miho would like, but most of the Pokemon around us had already been encountered somewhere in our run. It was pretty hard to find something.

"Honestly," I said, still looking around. "I can't really find anything."

I made a complete turn to look behind us. I hadn't been looking for long, when suddenly there was a loud crashing noise. I quickly turned back around to see that a Granbull had crashed into a nearby tree. I immediately ran up to help.

"Poor guy," I said, recalling how the heavy jaws Granbull possessed made it hard to control their movement.

I crouched down and gave the Pokemon a small potion, just enough to get it back on its feet. Then, after ensuring that the Pokemon was fine, I stood back up and dusted my knees off.

"So, Granbull," I said, looking towards Miho. "Wanna catch him?"

    [Not a problem, welcome back]

As the two are thinking where to go next, a loud crash sounds out next to them. Miho turns around quickly to see a large pit-bull like Pokemon had ran into the tree. She smiles at the sight as Dee walks forward, potion in hand. As soon as the Pokémon is healed, Dee stands up, turning back to Miho.

    "So, Granbull. Wanna catch him?"

Miho thinks a little as she looks at the greyish purple normal type. “Hm...no thanks. It wouldn’t be fair...to be honest, he still looks a little dazed to me.”

“Hm...no thanks. It wouldn’t be fair...to be honest, he still looks a little dazed to me," Miho replied, sympathizing with the poor Pokemon.

    "Well," I said. "Let's continue."

I looked back to the Granbull who'd gotten back on his feet and was now running back in the opposite direction. I knew he would have recovered pretty quickly. He was probably used to running into trees.

As we continued on our way, we came upon a small tree stump. There was a small yellow creature, about the size of a mouse, crawling up the stump. It gave off small electrical pulses as it walked. I squinted to see if my eyes were decieving me. I'd never seen such a creature before.

"Look over there," I said to Miho, pointed at the tree stump that I'd seen the small yellow creature on.

I pulled out my Ranger Browser, a small Pokedex-like device that was created to provide instant information to rangers while out on runs, and held it up in the creature's direction. The Browser would automatically pick up some information on it if it was a Pokemon.

"Ah ha," I said with a little enthusiasm. "It's a Joltik: part bug-type and part electric-type."

"It also evolves, though I can't really pick up that information right now," I continued. "I guess it's one of the newly discovered Pokemon that everyone has been talking about."

Apparently, many new Pokemon had been found in the Park. Studies were being done to figure out where they came from and find other important information about them. Still, it was pretty exciting to be able to meet one.

"Well, do you want to battle it?"

Miho looks up at the small electric bug, smiling a little. “A newly discovered Pokémon, huh? Well...how can I resist?

Her hand quickly moves to her belt, grabbing a ball and throwing it in the air slightly. “Think I’ll go with you, Yuna!”

The button is pressed as the large dragon type is released with a happy “Dragon!”

Miho smiles a little as Yuna see’s the strange looking Pokémon, quickly slithering up to it. “Should have known she wouldn’t be able to resist something new...Alright Yuna, lets see how good it’s grip is. Twister!”

Yuna nods before quickly beginning to slide around in a circle, her speed beginning to affect the air around her. Faster and faster she moves, every second gaining speed until soon, the entire area is covered in a large twister, pulling everything in around it.

Miho quickly grabs onto a tree, watching interestedly to see if the bug could hold on.

    vs. Joltik BP1

    [[Gender please. :)]]

Miho had initiated the attack by ordering Yuna, her Dragonair, to use Twister. The dragon-type Pokemon began to spin around, rapidly gaining speed as she continued to spin. Everything was pulled in by the massive twister. Soon, the twister iteslef became a large swirl of a mixture of dirt, leaves, and broken twigs.

"Luxray! Use Light Screen now!" I ordered Luxray in a calm, yet excited voice.

Luxray immediately started to glow and raised up a transparent barrier of light that prevented the effects of Dragonair's Twister from causing any harm to her, Miho and me. I gave a quick compliment to Luxray and quickly ducked to dodge an incoming tree branch.

Back at the battle between Dragonair and Joltik, the large tornado that Dragonair had brewed up was still going strong. The tremendous force was enough to pull Joltik from the branch. In a desperate move, the Joltik spit out a large stream of silk. The stream connected to the tree and burst out into a web spanning most of the branches. Joltik slow climbed up to the web with the aid of the string still hanging from its mouth.

The web held Joltik in place and prevented it from being sucked into the twister. Unfortunately, the trees had no such thing holding them in place. I looked around the forest. Luckily, no tree were uprooted, but I feared that if Dragonair's attack lasted much longer, this area of the woods could be ruined.

Meanwhile, Joltik, from its web, spit out a large blob of green and purple ooze. The ooze quickly headed towards the tornado, aided by the suction that the twister was already creating. It spread merged with the twister and spiraled down the funnel towards Dragonair.
