Ranger Jake​

"Mkay." We exchanged goods and I smiled as she healed Christine. We started walking towards the trail to the Swamp, but before we even got there an Igglybuff ran into Miho's foot while she was walking. It looked up at her with huge eyes and smiled shyly.

"It looks like it likes you. You don't have to battle it though."

Miho looks down as she feels something small and very, very light bump into her foot, gasping a little as she sees the tiny pink ball Pokémon. “Awe...so cute!” She smiles as she kneels down to the Igglybuff as she holds her hand out gently to try and stroke its head, completely absorbed in the baby Pokémon. “You’re just gorgeous...I want you, but...I don’t want to hurt you.” She smiles kindly at the tiny Pokémon, before looking back at Jake. “If...I did want to catch it...I don’t have to hurt it, right?”

I frowned. To tell the truth, yes, she would eventually have to hurt it if she wanted to catch it. I compromised.

"Well for now you can just befriend it and we'll deal with capturing it later."

I picked up the Igglybuff and it smiled and nuzzled me. It was cute. I handed it to Miho and we continued walking, this time making it to the trail and feeling the sturdy plants fall away to more exotic and tropical plants.

Miho grins as Jake passes her the Igglybuff, holding it close to her as she gently strokes its head. “Thanks Jake. It means a lot to me.” The two keep walking along, soon reaching the trail. Miho looks around at the area, giving a slightly low whistle. “Wow...this place looks nice.” She thinks for a second, taking Igglybuff in one hand as she reaches for Christine’s ball. “Come on out, Christine.”
The Gardevoir lands on the ground gracefully, stretching her arms to the side before looking at her trainer. Her eyes’ drift to the Igglybuff in her hands, blinking softly. “Garde?”
Miho grins. “Christine, this is Igglybuff. Our new friend.“ Gardevoir looks at Igglybuff before smiling kindly, gently patting it’s head before drifting to Miho’s side.
Miho looks at Jake as Christine falls in line. “We’re gonna be running into Poison Types, right? I’d rather have Christine ready to deal with anything to nasty if we’ve got Igglybuff with us.”

We continued to walk on the trail. Walking always gets me thinking so I started to think about stuff that I was going to do today. Suddenly, I gasped.

"Miho, what day is today?" When she told me I grinned happly and said,

"Do you mind staying overnight today? There's a really cool surprise at the lake that I can show you if you do."

Miho looks at Jake as he suddenly gasps, asking what day it is. “Tuesday, right?”
Jake smiled a little, asking her if she’d stay overnight and head to the lake. Miho giggles a little. “Well sure, why not? I’ve always been one to love really cool surprises.”
Christine roll’s her eyes a little with a smile, Miho looking at her belt. “Besides, I’m sure Yuna would love a good swim...maybe her and Saline could have a race.” She laughs a little before lifting Igglybuff up to her face. “And what about you, eh? Do you want to come to the lake with us?”

 

Ranger Jake​

I had a really cool thing to show her. On Tuesdays, at midnight, the lake has a special way of purifying itself. I smiled and we kept walking. The path was thin and wide leaves kept smacking us in the face. Eerie but beautiful calls sounded from the thick forest to our sides.

Suddenly I notice 2 huge orange eyes staring at me from a bush. I recoiled at first, ready to protect Miho if necessary, but I realized that it was merely a Masquerain observing us up close.

"This Masquerain wants to play."

Christine quickly moves in front of Miho and Igglybuff as the orange eye’s appear, Miho looking up as Jake explains it’s just a Masquerain wanting to play. Miho smiles a little as she sees it, looking at Christine. “Would you mind getting my camera out of my bag? Hands are a little full.”
Christine nods a little, falling into a Ballerina pose as she’s covered in a soft blue glow. The camera slowly floats out of the bag, hanging in front of Miho.
“Thanks Christine.” She grins, passing Igglybuff to Jake momentarily as she aim’s the camera at the Masquerain. The flash quickly goes off, right at the Eyeball Pokémon.

 

Ranger Jake​

When the camera flashes the masquerain blinks with its tiny eyes and then flutters off into the forest.

The ground got muddier and muddier as we neared the swamp. Several times we had to manuever around a toxic plant barring our way. Finally, the trail ended and we arrrived at the swamp. It smells different every time I go there. This time it smelled like rain. We started to walk our way around the large swamp, towards the entrance to the trail leading for Pine Grove, hoping to encounter some Pokemon on our way.

I noticed a Pokemon wading in the shallows near to us.

“Nidoqueen if you want it.”

The group makes their way through the swamp, Miho keeping Igglybuff held close to her as she walk. “Careful Christine...we don’t want you getting poisoned again.”
Christine nods softly with a “Garde”, staying close to her trainer. As they get closer and closer to the entrance to the Pine Grove, Jake notices a large, blue Pokémon wading through the swamp, pointing out the Nidoqueen. Miho looks at it as she thinks. Although Nidoqueen would be a very good addition to her team, together with Nidoking, she knew the last battle had been hard enough. Still, she looks at Christine. “Think you can take it?”
Christine looks at her, smiling and nodding a little, Miho smiling confidently.
“Alright...take a second to get ready. Use calm mind, then teleport in and smack it with Psychic.”
Christine nods a little, eyes closing. Calming thought’s fill her head as she relaxes her entire body, focusing on the task at hand. Her eyes open before directing her gaze on the relaxing Nidoqueen, beginning to glow white.
Miho takes a step back from her, wary of the large Nidoqueen having it’s attention caught by the glow. Soon, Christine teleports from site, leaving behind a slight trail of energy as it quickly appears behind the Poison type. Both Pokémon’s bodies immediately glow blue as Christine falls into her attack pose. "Gaaaaarde....voir!" She raises her hands in the air, attempting to pull Nidoqueen out of the swampy water, aiming to throw it to the side.

 

Ranger Jake​

OOC: Remember, you need 56k before I can even let you try to capture this Pokemon.

Christine put her arms slowly to her sides and glowed a relaxing light pink as she clamed her mind. When she opened them again, she seemed to be floating with more finesse and the glow never quite went away.

She then calmly began to glow white and then dissapear into nothingness and then appearing at an angle so Nidoqueen could, not see her. She then began to glow a mysterious purple and chant like she had earlier. Nidoqueen was caught unawares and began to glow the same color before being tossed around and thrown viciously into the shore of the swamp.

Nidoqueen struggled to get up and recover from the super effective attack. When she finally did, she held out her hands to reveal a berry though I wasn't sure which.

She closed her eyes and began to hum and glow, the glow pulsing from where she held the berry. Suddenly, Christine was tossed from where she was hidden behind a sprawling willow, and smashed into the lake before being tossed onto the shore right next to Nidoqueen. The berry flashed and faded into nothingness.

Gardevoir winced and got up, considerably injured, though much less so than Nidoqueen.

Miho smiles softly as Christine easily throw Nidoqueen to the side, managing to cause severe damage to it. However, she looks at the female drill Pokémon, noticing how much damage she had done to it: She wanted to weaken it, but not this much. “Alright Christine, we’d better hold back for now.”
Christine nods a little before suddenly being picked up and thrown around, shouting a little in surprise. “G...Garde!” She’s easily thrown into the lake, before being dragged up and dragged right back to the shore.
Miho gasps a little: Nidoqueen couldn’t learn Psychic or Confusion and neither of them should have much effect on Christine. The berry in Nidoqueen’s fist slowly disappears as she almost slaps her forehead. “Of course...Natural gift.”
Christine climbs to her feet, shaken slightly, but still more than able to battle. She looks up at the Nidoqueen as Miho thinks a little: This could be hard until Nidoqueen was really tired.
“Alright Christine, let’s wear it out a little. I want you to use double team, then use wish to recover.”
Christine falls into her ballerina pose with her eyes closed, sparkling slightly as she disappears from few momentarily. Two Gardevoir reappear, followed by more and more. Soon, the Gardevoir surround Nidoqueen, all of them chanting in time with each other. All the Gardevoir then bring their hands together, eyes closed as they chant softly under their breath. The real Christine asks for healing in her mind, momentarily taking her focus away from Nidoqueen.

 

Ranger Jake​

OOC: Good. I definitely noticed your improvement on the length of your posts. But you still need more length. Nidoqueen is already at 28%. If you plan on being able to capture her, you need to use much weaker moves andstall so you have enough posts to work up the MCR. Otherwise, you’ll end up practically writing a story on the post where you throw your Poke ball.

When the copies raised their hands the swamp glittered blindingly as diamond dust shimmered all around. As it settled on the copies they flashed, sparkling with the same diamond sheen, and faded back to normal eyeing the Nidoqueen knowingly.

Nidoqueen stared at the multiple Gardevior placed at multiple locations along the riverbed. I chuckled softly. This place was the perfect place to use Double Team. Not only were the clones placed at locations all around the edge of the swamp, but most of them were at places where if Nidoqueen decided to attack one, it would be too far away from the others to try for another attack before Christine was done.

Niudoqueen decided that it was too much work to think about it logically and attack the one closest to her. Her fist glowed purple as she ran at the nearest Gardevoir. She slammed her fist forward at... nothing. She looked comical as the Pokemon evaporated when her fist went through it and she flailed frantically trying to gain balance, but failing and crashing into the muddy ground. She jumped back up and looked furious and disgusted at her muddy body.

Nidoqueen throws a powerful punch at the nearest Gardevoir, aiming to damage Christine. However, the one she picked was a clone, harmlessly sending the behemoth into the mud. Miho grins a little at the sight as Igglybuff lets out a happy squeal, clapping its hands together. “Someone’s enjoying the show, eh Jake?”
Miho looks at the large blue Pokémon again as he mind buzzes. Her plan of tiring it out hadn’t worked so far, instead simply angering it. “Could be dangerous...an angry Nidoqueen is unpredictable...” She thinks a little before smiling. “Alright Christine, let’s calm it down a little. Use Charm!”
Immediately, the Gardevoir move in, some smiling kindly at the Nidoqueen while others float past gently, none threateningly. A few even rise up in the air, the moonlight shining behind them beautifully. Igglybuff’s eyes light up at the sight, letting loose a soft “Iggly...” before struggling in Miho’s arms, attempting to join the pretty sight. Miho gasps gently as she struggles to hold onto the baby Balloon Pokemon. “Igglybuff...no. It’s not safe.”
“I...Iggly...buff!” calls the pink, round little puffball, Miho just managing to hold onto it before looking at Jake. “Is there any way to keep it safe while Christine battles?”

 

vs. Nidoqueen BP1

(Well, I'm excited about RPing with you. Um, not much to say. In battle, I always end my battle posts with the wild Pokemon attacking to give you a chance to dodge and execute. If I determine your post to be of good quality, then your dodge and attack will be successful. That way you don't sustain too much damage. All in all, just keep doing things the way you have and everything'll be fine. Also, as Tyranitex stated, try to be a bit more detailed in your posts. You have lots more to go and so little health, so you should stall while keeping your posts of good length. That's about it. This OOC is getting too big. :\)

I had just finished a park run on Mt. Oktori that took a couple of days to finish. Everything seemed to work against me and the trainer that I was leading to prevent us from ever leaving the area. First, there was a massive earthquake. Then, we were attacked by a swarm of Beedrill. Finally, an avalanche was triggered when the trainer decided to use an Exploud in the area where the earthquake had already loosened things up. On top of that, I was coming down with a cold because I failed to wear a coat to the icy mountain.

There was nothing that I wanted to do more than to go to my office, grab a blanket, prop my feet up on the desk and fall asleep; however, I came to the realization that this day was far from over when the receptionist came into my office with that look on her face that she always had.

“I’ve got another trainer for you,” she said as she dropped a file on my desk. I let out a heavy sigh and sat up in the chair that I was using. I picked up the file and glanced through it. I was supposed to take over Ranger Jake’s park run so that he could deal with a family situation. I took my Browser and scanned the code within the file so that I could have access to it during my run.

“Well, I guess I should get going. Come on Luxray” I said as I sighed again. The Pokémon followed me as I gathered some emergency supplies and walked over to the teleport that would take us to the Woods.

According to the file, Jake and the trainer (Miho was her name) were already halfway through the woods. I pulled out a Pokémon and released the Pokémon inside. A large orange dragon with a less-than-menacing face emerged from the Pokémon.

“Dragonite,” I said. “Do you think you could fly Luxray and me to where Jake is?” Dragonite nodded. I climbed up and recalled Luxray.

With one sweep of her wings, Dragonite was in the air. She sped through the sky until she could see Jake and a little girl. Per her trainer’s orders, she swooped down and land gently and gracefully near the ranger and his female acquaintance.

I hopped off of the dragon Pokémon, thanked her, and recalled her back to her Pokéball. Then, I let Luxray back out. Luxray hated to be inside of her Pokeball more than anything else in the world. If I left her in her Pokeball for too long, I could expect a shock treatment when she got out.

After releasing Luxray, I turned towards Jake and told him that I was there to take over for him. He nodded and started to walk in the opposite direction. I didn’t know where he was headed. He would probably walk back to the outpost where he could teleport to the main gate, or he would fly back on a Pokémon. I didn’t really know. I assumed he would teleport back since he continued to walk.

I turned back around to face the trainer who I would be leading through the park. Her name was Miho. She was 12 years old, and she wore a black shirt with jeans. I didn’t really have time to introduce myself because she was in the middle of a battle. When the battle was over, I would take out the time to make a proper acquaintance.

Before me was a Nidoqueen battling what looked like a gang of Gardevoir. Going by the trainer’s commands, I could tell that Gardevoir was the trainer’s Pokémon. There was also the fact that Gardevoir don’t normally appear in the woods.

The four Gardevoir moved in on the Nidoqueen and started to smile charmingly. They seemed to put on a graceful dance. Some floated so that they would shimmer in the moonlight. Some approached the Nidoqueen in a calm manner. Some simply moved past Nidoqueen. The beautiful display was mesmerizing. Even I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. Nidoqueen struggled a bit and punched one of the Gardevoir, which in turn dissipated. All of those Gardevoir must have been mere shadows created by using Double Team. After a while, Nidoqueen calmed down and started to relax a bit. A faint smile broke out over her face. I knew that she wouldn’t be fighting at her strongest for a while because Charm had caused her to let her guard down.

As the Gardevoir clones begin their display, another ranger flies in on a large, orange dragon Pokémon. Miho looked over momentarily in surprise: Dragonite were rare, and strong. Seeing one was always an amazing experience. Still, there was a battle going on, which was going nowhere fast. Miho thinks to herself before looking at the new ranger. “I think I’ve done enough...it’s time to get out of here.” She then looks at the group of Gardevoir. “Christine, we’re getting out of here. Keep your clones up as long as possible as a distraction, okay?”
One of the Gardevoir looks over and nods, before gliding to the group as the other’s all keep up their display of charm. Miho sighs a little to herself. Normally, she would never dream of giving up a Pokémon she likes, especially one as powerful as a Nidoqueen. Still, she had Igglybuff with her, and if anything happened to the tiny normal type, she wouldn’t forgive herself. Miho then looks at the new ranger. “Let’s try to sneak away before it notices us...I shouldn’t have started this battle in the first place.”

After I landed and had taken over for Jake, Miho turned to me and started to speak.

“Let’s try to sneak away before it notices us,” she said. “I shouldn’t have started this battle in the first place.” She had ordered her Gardevoir to distracted the Nidoqueen to enable us to sneak away.


I nodded and pulled a Pokédoll from my bag. If a trainer wanted to leave after already initiating a battle, then they had to use a Pokédoll. The reason for this was because a Pokémon that is already riled up with remain that way if the battle is not completed. In turn, the Pokémon may do things that are dangerous to themselves, the trainers, rangers, other Pokémon in the area, and the Park itself. Pokédolls served as a way to get the Pokémon to calm down and relax a bit.

I showed the Pokédoll to Miho.

“If you’re absolutely sure that you want to leave the battle, then I have to get you to buy one of these,” I said to the trainer. “It’ll be five hundred bucks, but it’ll help us continue on our run.”

If Miho decided to use the Pokédoll, then all she had to do was throw it at the Nidoqueen. The Pokédoll would take over from there and work its magic over the tensed Pokémon, calming it down and getting it to leave us alone so that we could leave.

The new ranger pulls a Clefairy like doll out of his bag, explaining that she needed to use that if she wanted to escape. Miho sighs and nods, quickly pulling the money out of her purse and handing it to him. She then looks over to the large Nidoqueen before aiming. “Let’s hope this works...”
Igglybuff see’s the pink doll and immediately starts squirming in her arms.
“D...Damnit...Igglybuff...” Miho clenches onto it hard before quickly tossing the doll, wondering in her mind how the doll works.

 

vs. Nidoqueen BP3

Miho agreed to purchase the Pokédoll and handed me $500 in exchange for the doll (Trainers made lots of money battling. You’d think it was an illegal pastime.). I gave her the doll, which she threw forth towards the Nidoqueen.

Nidoqueen stopped what she was doing and directed all of her attention to the Pokédoll. Pokédolls had some sort of substance similar to catnip within them. This substance, of course, attracted Nidoqueen who sniffed the doll a little bit, then picked it up and stomped into a nearby bush.

Gardevoir stopped what she was doing and gracefully walked back to us. Her clones disappeared one by one. I let out a deep sigh.

I looked over to Miho, who seemed to be having trouble calming Igglybuff down. I smiled and pulled a rare candy out of my pocket. I gave the piece of candy to the Igglybuff, who stopped squirming around. She directed all of her attention on trying to figure out how to get to the candy inside.

“Well, that’s that,” I said to no one in particular. Then, I turned towards Miho. “Shall we continue on our way? Or is there anything you would like to take care of.”

The ranger gave Igglybuff a wrapper containing a rare candy, Igglybuff stopping her squirming to try to get the candy inside. Miho smiles softly. “Thanks...I don’t want her to get away.”
The ranger then looks at Miho, smiling. ““Shall we continue on our way? Or is there anything you would like to take care of.”
Miho thinks to herself. “Well...I’d think introductions are in order. I’m Miho, trainer extraordinaire. This is Christine, my first Pokémon ever.” She gestures to the green humanoid Pokémon, who smiles at the ranger before giving a bow. “In the ball’s are Yuna, a Dragonair I’ve been training...it’s...not going to incredibly well so far, she’s not really grown up much yet...Dorian, and Manic, a Nidoking and Mankey I caught in the park. And this...” Miho smiles down to Igglybuff, moving to help her with the wrapper “is my new friend Igglybuff. And you?”
