The Staff is discussing the new generation as we approach a hopeful launch soon enough. As many other Pokemon sites are still gathering data, we still have yet to discuss most topics other than PokeMart mons.

Feel free to discuss, submit research or mechanics change that you have noticed while playing XY, and suggest improvements or ways to implement the many new tidbits. Your contribution is of utmost value to us.

One thing I noticed because it was relevant to a recent reffing decision:
    Turn 1:
    Klefki uses Spikes.
    Ludicolo uses Surf.

    Turn 2:
    Klefki uses Torment.
    Ludicolo uses Surf.

So Torment still works like that.

    Most of us.

Topics I want to know about:
    Mechanics regarding new Moves/Abilities/Items.
Any changes to old Moves/Abilities/Items and other mechanics such as weather etc.

    Currently I know of:
    ITEMS
Weakness Policy, Held Item ,Raises Attack and Special Attack sharply if the holder is hit by a move it's weak to.
Assault Vest, Held Item, Raises Special Defence but prevents the use of Status moves.
Whipped Dream, Evolution item for Slurpuff
    Sachet, Evolution item for Aromatisse

    MOVES
There's a lot and I don't feel like doing them now.

    ABILITIES
    See MOVES

    MECHANICS
Weather-causing abilities (Drought etc) are no longer permanent - the weather fades after 5 turns.
Critical hits now only deal 1.5x damage.

    MEGAEVOLUTION
MegaEvolution appears to take priority over attacks, not just your own. For example, the following order of events is possible:
Pokemon A MegaEvolves, Pokemon B uses regular priority attack, Pokemon A uses regular priority attack.
Only one Pokemon on a team can MegaEvolve per battle.
If a Mega Pokemon is switched out, it remains in Mega form.

    I'll add more later

I shall link this here, as this has to be at least somewhat useful

    LEAK DOCUMENT

This is what some of us were collecting on the days prior to its release. Use it, ignore, whatevs.

    Changes to old abilities:

-Oblivious now makes the Pokemon immune to taunt and infatuation
    -Infiltrator now bypasses a Substitute
-Cute Charm may now be a defensive equivelent of Rivalry
-Keen Eye now ignores opponents evasion boosts as well as prevents your Pokemon's accuracy dropping.

I've been following /vp/ smogon and serebii leaks so I have a good bit of info on mechanics, new hidden abilities, etc.

Also switching is the only thing with a higher priority than mega evolving afaik

E: apparently "noise" moves like Hyper Voice bypass sub too

Should probably add that we already have Story/Park rankings, and it looks like the Story Section is cleared to go, so we probably won't need to visit that unless something completely new comes up (again, I don't have the games so I can't confirm everything so far).

Well, there's definitely no more new Pokemon barring event legends being revealed, if that's what you mean.

A factor in our decisions about where we rank things for stories/park are based on their in-game availability, which requires info from someone with the game to confirm all their rankings.

I know this is sort of a lot to ask, and I'm unsure if it's been discussed previously, but is there any chance of all of the Pokemon being considered for reranking ?

I mean it's based off of how easily the Pokemon can be obtained, but doesn't that change (to some degree) with each generation? Furthermore, due to the lack of new Pokemon there isn't really a lot of type disparity so this could help spread the types out among the rankings a little more (which I think is a good thing no?). Just something to consider! (Especially because, in my opinion at least, some of the rankings seems sort of arbitrary and outdated (if you really need examples, I'd be more than happy to provide))

This is something I've thought but not really brought up since Stories etc aren't my problem. Though I doubt it would be done as part of the launch, a restructure could be done afterwards.

I disagree, I think a launch is the perfect time to do one since you're adding new Pokemon anyway. Also it makes it easier to balance types and stuff since you have some leeway with new Pokemon.

Syn posted a bunch of new ones but I would also say: Larvesta down to Complex (should be same as Riolu since they are obtained the same way), Farfetch'd down to Medium (because really??), Sableye / Mawile up to Hard (since they are no longer just shitty one stagers), Wailer / Swablue to Medium (they really aren't rare or good...), Swalot / Hypno / Octillery / all of the other Medium Pokemon's evos that are Hard to Complex, Lapras being Demanding always seemed a little silly to me too, etc.

Also why are all of the starters the first three in the list in the Hard category except for Johto??? Also sometimes they are at the beginning of other sections and sometimes randomly thrown in there.... i.e. Torterra, Infernape, Empoleon at the beginning of demanding for Sinnoh, but Saur / Zard/ Toise not for Kanto ???

Even though I agree with this issue, restructuring the rankings of Pokemon from old generations is not an XY launch issue and isn't really what this thread is intended for. We're looking for research into the new additions to the game, mechanics, stuff that's required for a URPG implementation. Stuff that will need to be in the Refpedia. It just isn't going to be a priority to restructure old rankings at this time unless someone from Stories/Park/wherever REALLY wants to take it on to get it done.

If there are any discussions concerning Pokemon pre-gen VI, let's bring it up elsewhere. Post a separate thread in the Trainer's Court, but be prepared to provide substantial arguments that can be backed up. Unless you feel the specific reason to mention a pre-gen VI mon (perhaps something like Ralts being retyped), I would prefer it if we left overall Story rank discussion out of this thread, at least for now.

That being said, I would like the input of URPG members on what you think Honedge, Doublade, and Aegislash should be ranked. As of right now, Honedge is ranked as Complex, Doublade as Demanding, and Aegislash as Demanding. However, apparently Honedge is found fairly early in the game and is overall pretty common. If you have a modification to the Honedge family's rank, please bring them up and be able to provide information to prove your point!

    Re: Honedge

This really depends on how much we want to balance availability and power. Honedge isn't particularly rare, Aegislash is pretty amazing.

Its stance change ability allows it to vary between Shield Form and Blade Form. In Shield Form it has 150 base defences and (I think) 60 base attacks, and starts the battle in this form. It's very tanky and can use status moves (like Swords Dance) without changing form. Upon using an attack, it will first switch into Blade Form, swapping Attack/Defence and Special Attack/Special Defence.

I think it fits in well at Complex/Demanding/Merciless. From my experience its definitely one of the top tier Gen VI Pokemon that should be that high.

What exactly do you mean by that? If you're wondering if we'll add a section where you can tickle your Pokemon, I doubt it.

If you mean the way it breaks game mechanics by preventing Pokemon from dying when they should, I doubt it.

Anyway, I came here to post this: URPG Stats Converter

Simple little console application for windows that will convert a Pokemon's base stats into URPG stats cause I was feeling lazy.

Fairy type - how does it work with GSC/Coliseum rules? What attribute will it represent in contests?
