    Ya'll are nuts. x_o

lol, no, Near, no Legendary. Carly didn't have it for the original Newbie Contest, Galleon didn't have it for his, and it's not going to start now. I say you better start working on your entry for the Summer Comp. if you want a Legendary. :p

And no admin. powers. *thinks of the utter horror*

Hmm... I don't really like Sinnoh region pokemon... but maybe I will write a story! Just for fun. And a chance at whatever I might win.

Is it allowed if I trade away the Shellos after I get it? Because I'll probably want to trade it for a Kanto/Johto pokemon...

Yep. You can do whatever you want with the Shellos if you capture it.

So does the story we write have a max length? I saw how its a 5-10 K character length for simple, but does that mean must be more than 5k, but less than 10k?

Re: The Newbie Writing Competition '10!

There is no max limit. You can write 40K for a Shellos and enter that as your entry if you wish. There's also no minumum limit; it's possible to catch a Pokemon with a low character count, it's just harder.

Er... you actually have to write about Shellos. That's one of the most important rules in this competition. You also cannot have more than one story graded. :)

Re: The Newbie Writing Competition '10!

Although it's probably common sense, I have an important piece of advice for anyone who wishes to write for this competition. For reference, let me quote Kat on the deadline:

Yes, May 5th seems like it's a long way off at this point, but that doesn't mean you should put this off until May 4th if you want to win the competition.

My advice is this: start early, and work on it a little bit every day. By spreading out your work schedule for this competition, you'll take your time and develop a better story overall than you would if you tried to throw something together at the last minute. This will also give you time to go back and proofread for mistakes, which will save the Graders a whole lot of hassle. Lastly, if you wish to have other opinions on your story, by writing it early, you can show the community your work and receive feedback. If you wait, you won't have that option, and some potentially good insight will have been passed up.

This is your chance to prove yourself to the entire URPG community, and there are definitely some great prizes waiting in the wings for you if you succeed. Make this opportunity count.

Re: The Newbie Writing Competition '10!

Also as another piece of advice for fellow enterers, get someone else to proofread your story afterwards. This'll help pick up on spell mistakes that a spellchecker won't, such as where you accidentally spell a different word (when writing my first URPG capture I accidently put waster instead of wasted and never would have picked it up without an additional proofreader)

Hi there, just posting to say that my story's on the third page and hasn't been graded yet, so I'm properly requesting a grade. It's been a week and I thought I should follow it up. Been checking it every day a few times a day for the past week >_>
