The longest piece won't necessarily win, because quality is what counts here. So even if someone wrote a very long piece, it could still be outdone by someone writing a piece with an excellent plot and lots of details, condensed into less than ten thousand characters.

In addition, nobody here is really considered an "expert writer" because all of the users and Graders look at stories differently. So what you consider an expert may not be the same for someone else, and that difference in opinion changes the votes, as well.

Regardless, though many of us are excited for this, I think your exams might be a little more important, haha.

It was just a joke, I've been studying like crazy for these exams and I've aced all the past years papers. Trust me, I can do both.

And by writing a lot I just mean, like if two stories are up to a similar standard in regards to quality, and one is twice the length of the other. But I realise that if there's a deadline than people at the same level will probably write at the same level

You can do that if you want, but there's no point. You don't have to use the Pokemon in your stats in a story, either.

I'd use my current Shuckle story-in-progress, but then I couldn't submit it for the capture... Oh well, I just hope I get some good ideas, if I can be bothered to enter this. *sigh*, what a life.

Another nice thing about that limitation on the contest - people have to decide if they want to wait on their stories out now, or push them back further so they qualify, thus lessening the burden on our poor graders.

Re: The Newbie Writing Competition '10!

Mmm, haven't thought of that. Well, if people wish, they can write more than one story and only choose one to enter. Do keep in mind, however, the "cannot enter if you have more than one story-captured Pokemon or a story-captured Pokemon above the Mediium rank" because you're not really considered a newbie after that, right?

Okay, after using a random number generator ranging from 1 - 60, sixty being the number of Simple Pokemon, I got 59, which means the Simple Pokemon to be written for is Shellos!

The deadline to get your stories written and posted to be entered is May 5th. That's the next, next Wednesday. Remember to put (NWC) or (Newbie Writing Competition) in the title and post in this thread to provide a link to your story. Other than the target Pokemon Shellos and the fact that you can only write for a Shellos, there are no restrictions to your story.

    Have fun! :3

If the grade for your story is succesful, the Pokemon is yours to keep, even if you don't win. :3
