OOC: I don't know why my dice hate you. T_T

"Alright Dragonite, you've done a great job!" her trainer called out. Dragonite returned a wink; she was rather happy to have pleased her trainer.

My trainer saw this as the perfect opportunity to swipe a Super Ball off of his belt and chuck at the paralyzed Lampent. The Lamp Pokemon tried to float out of the was, but it was a futile effort; the ball connected straight on with the glass casing. The ball opened as the ghost-type became a red light and was sucked inside. The ball wiggled once. The ball wiggled twice. But on the third time, it burst open releasing the floating lantern back into the air. The recoil from the ball forced it to bounce backwards into the tunnel. Unfortunately, it was behind Lampent, and sneaking around would risk harm to either of us. The ball still looked intact though; it could still be used again.

Meanwhile, the paralyzed Lampent began struggling to get to her adversary. It was to no avail however; there was no way she'd reach Dragonite in time before another attack. Finding a solution, Lampent began storing up another batch of flames within her casing. With a pump of her arms, a massive wave of flames filled the air. This was not a big problem to Dragonite though. Since she was standing at a good distance, only the tip of the embers managed to reach her. Her tough scales also helped endure the hit; this look like it did minimal damage.

OOC: Well at least I can use it again later lol.

Lampent was sucked into the Super Ball. I held my breath as the Super Ball wriggled once. Then, it wriggled again. I only needed one more wriggle to capture it...

    But no.

The Super Ball opened up, and in a flash of white light, Lampent appeared, angrier than ever. The Super Ball was still intact (meaning I could retrieve it and reuse it again later), but Lampent was between myself and the ball.

"Shit!" I cursed, annoyed. No matter, I still had one more Super Ball...

Lampent suddenly launched a wave of flames from her body at Dragonite. Since they were far away from each other, the flames did minimal damage to Dragonite before dying out. However, it was damage nonetheless.

This match should've been over by now - I should have caught the stupid Lampent by now. Our battle felt as though it had lasted months. It was time to end it for good.

I tossed my final Super Ball at Lampent, hoping for the best.

OOC: I couldn't find a way to integrate the Super Ball retrieval into the post. So all I can say is remember to do so.

"Shit!" my trainer cursed at the Lampent as she sent forth a burst of flames. That was not my first choice of word, but I completely understood in this situation. Almost nothing's more frustrating than a capture attempt failing.

Without hesitation, he pulled another Super Ball off his belt and chucked it forward. It managed to hit once more as Lampent was sucked into the container yet again. The ball began shaking several times as the lamp in the middle of the orb shimmered. I watched to see what would happen next. Would it break out again? That Pokemon can barely move as it is. Finally the shaking stopped as a click echoed across the tunnel. Knowing that it was a successful capture, I walked over to the occupied Super Ball and stowed in my bag.

"Nicely done. You caught a Lampent," I congratulated as I stepped toward him. I reached out my hand for a handshake as I apologized, "Sorry I didn't introduce myself during the battle. I'm Bill Mason. I heard you needed a replacement ranger."

The Super Ball wriggled. That was the first wriggle... Then the second wriggle... And then, after what felt like an eternity, it wriggled for the third and final time.

I smiled, incredibly happy with myself. My new Ranger picked up the Super Ball and pocketed it, congratulating me as he did so.

"Nicely done. You caught a Lampent," my Ranger said, approaching me. "Sorry I didn't introduce myself during the battle. I'm Bill Mason. I heard you needed a replacement Ranger."

We shook hands. I introduced myself. "My name's Isaac Booth. Thanks for coming."

I thanked Dragonite next, and returned her to her Pokeball. Then, I remembered something. Walking over to the first Super Ball I had thrown, I picked it up and pocketed it. I could still reuse it later.

Looking back at Bill, I called, "Where to next?"

The trainer returned my handshake and replied, "My name's Isaac Booth. Thanks for coming." I was glad to finally know his name that way I could talk to him. Isaac then turned to his large Dragon Pokemon and thanked her. She had done a rather excellent job from what I saw; she managed to fend off an energy ball right from when it was sent out. I knew I needed a Dragonite of my own someday.

Isaac spotted the Super Ball he tried using lying behind where Lampent once stood. Picking it back up, he dropped it back into his pocket. The ball didn't even have a scratch from the looks of it; it was still in perfect condition.

Isaac turned to me and inquired, "Where to next?"

"It's your run. We can go wherever you want. But I guess we should get out of this tunnel first," I responded. We began making our way into the vast network of rocky tunnels. Trying to shiny my flashlight on the map and the path ahead, I almost tripped a couple of times over some rocks laying on the ground. If that wasn't enough, the roof of the tunnel kept rising and falling in different parts so there were times where I almost bumped my head. I checked behind me a couple of times to see if Isaac avoided the same mistakes.

Navigating our way through the last bit of the twisting tunnels, I could finally see a faint shimmer from around a corner. I knew this was sunlight as I turned and led us outside again. The rush of the wind felt good as it passed us. The general Deckbi area was hot, but the caves were known to become incredibly heated due to heat being unable to escape. As we exited the cave, I noticed something further up the path. It looked like a yellow insect trying to flutter off the ground. It kept flapping its tiny wings but it couldn't get more than a few inches into the air. It happened to float its way over here and rested itself back down. The Landsnake Pokemon's eyes stared intriguingly at Isaac since he was a newcomer around these parts.

"Wanna try to catch a Dunsparce?" I asked Isaac.

"It's your run. We can go wherever you want. But I guess we should get out of this tunnel first," Bill said.

I nodded, and I followed him as he led me out of the tunnel. It was confusing, with twists, turns, and rough terrain to make things even worse. Many times, I tripped over rubble on the ground.

Eventually, however, we made our way out of the tunnels. At first, I saw a faint glimmer of light far away - that was the exit. Then, I felt the breeze. It felt wonderful; I had been stuck in the hot, stuffy tunnel for quite a while now. While Deckbi was hot in general and what I was feeling right now was still a pretty high temperature, I had adjusted to the overwhelming heat of the tunnels, and this open air felt relatively cool despite it being quite hot compared to what I was accustomed to.

"Wanna try to catch a Dunsparce?" Bill asked me all of a sudden. He was pointing down the trail, and sure enough, there was something small and yellow with small wings there - a wild Dunsparce.

It was an easy answer for me. I didn't like Dunsparce much, and I had actually traded one away recently. There was no reason for me to acquire another.

    "Let's keep going," I said.

"Let's keep going," Isaac said to me.

The Dunsparce simply laid there and stared at us as we tried to slip by it. It wasn't that fast so we could easily outmaneuver it. It tried to hover after us but it could not even match our walking speed. Now I could see why Isaac didn't want it.

"Alright, lets move on," I said as I kept us moving up the mountain trail.

The smell of smoke permeated the air as we resumed our accent up Mt. Deckbi. Fortuantely, there were no rumblings today so far despite the volcano being active. I could tell that this was the best time to catch Pokemon though since the volcano was active enough to keep the local population restless but not powerful enough to cause earthquakes and scare the Pokemon off.

As we proceeded further, I noticed something up ahead. The soil looked like it was being displaced as if something was moving it beneath the surface. The pile of earth began moving toward us leaving a streak of displaced dirt behind it. It moved closer until something popped out of the ground: a brown head featuring a large pink nose. It looked like a finger puppet a child made.

"Wanna try for a Diglet?" I asked Isaac.

We got past the Dunsparce. It made no attempt to pursue or stop us, and we continued to hike up Mt. Deckbi.

As we continued our ascent, the smell of the volcanic ash gradually became stronger. It wasn't enough to bother me a lot, but it was certainly noticeable and unpleasant.

Bill suddenly stopped. I stopped behind him, and was just about to ask what was going on when he asked me a question of his own.

"Wanna try for a Diglett?" he asked. For a second, I was wondering what he was talking about. Then, I noticed what he must have noticed to cause him to stop.

It was a lump of dirt. However, that lump of dirt was travelling along the ground, leaving behind a trail of displaced dirt. Every Pokemon trainer knew what that meant - a Diglett was underground.

"No thanks," I said to Bill. Dugtrio were not bad Pokemon certainly - they were typically valuable due to their Arena Trap ability and their speed, but I had no desire to obtain one. Besides, I already acquired a Lampent in this run, so I didn't even need an Arena Trap user.

"No thanks," Issac refused. I wondered why he would reject a little Diglet. It was a rather versatile Pokemon that excelled in digging. I'm sure Isaac had better plans though.

"Sorry, Diglet," I said as we moved around the ground-type. We began pressing onward up the trail trying to avoid the mess Diglet made from the displaced dirt. Suddenly, Diglet popped up out of the ground again. How did it go so fast? It must have used the tunnel it was digging . At the rate it caught up to us, it would probably keep bothering us up the whole trail.

"Looks like Diglet's not going to leave us alone. If you give $500, I can throw a Pokedoll at it, or you can try to battle it. Your call," I informed Isaac.

"Sorry, Diglett," Bill said as we tried to sidestep the Diglett.

However, Diglett had other intentions. We walked past it, but it quickly dove underground and re-emerged in front of us once again. I had a feeling it would not let me run away.

"Looks like Diglett's not going to leave us alone. If you give $500, I can throw a Pokedoll at it, or you can try to battle it. Your call," Bill said.

I sighed. Oh well, I suppose this would give me an opportunity to do something.

"I'll battle. Swampert, go!" I tossed my Swampert's Pokeball. "First off, let's limit his ability to move! Use Muddy Water!"

My Swampert roared, and brown, murky water was exuded from the pores on her body. It crashed all over the surrounding area, and I smiled. What I had planned to do was to get the dirt in the area wet - this would greatly limit Diglett's ability to move. It would also deal a bit of damage, which was nice.

OOC: Muddy Water was hard to describe, given the nature of the move. I did it the way they did it in the anime, but that could be confusing as it may not be the easiest thing to picture. So, for convenience, here's some pictures:

OOC: I need a gender on Diglett. FINALLY I GET THIS UP
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    BP-1

"I'll battle." Isaac said. "Swampert, go!" He shouted as I zipped my backpack back up.

The blue mudfish Pokemon appeared in a flash of white as she quickly locked eyes with that pesky Diglett.

"First off, let's limit his ability to move! Use Muddy Water!" Isaac shouted tactfully.

Now this was an interesting idea to me. Muddy Water might make the ground thicker and harder to traverse. I was curious to see how this would play out.

Swampert quickly shouted into the air as a jet of water exuded from the pores of her body, almost like a brown dress. Water sprayed everywhere around the mountain path. Fortunately, I managed to dodge the wave of water by hopping onto a nearby rock. The wave gushed toward Diglett. It quickly ducked underground as the lip of the wave smacked the mole-like Pokemon. Diglett had managed to somewhat dodge the attack but as I stepped off the rock, I noticed something. My shoe was giving off some resistance that's normally not there when walking. The ground became soaking wet and I could barely walk though the mud that was there. I'm sure Diglett should have a little more trouble burrowing now. I didn't underestimate it though; it still dodged the attack and now it's underground somewhere. Where could it have gone?

OOC: Female. Also, I changed my mind; I'm going to capture the Diglett.

Swampert's Muddy Water swept all over the surrounding area. I stepped onto a nearby rock to avoid the muck, and I noticed Bill did the same.

My Swampert's attack had worked perfectly. It had made all of the dirt in the vicinity wet, which greatly limited Diglett's ability to burrow through the ground. But where was Diglett? The short Mole Pokemon was nowhere to be found.

Then, I noticed a small hole in the ground. It seemed that Diglett must have digged her way underground to avoid the attack, and while some water would flood into the hole, it wouldn't be a whole lot. Besides, a lot of the water would end up being soaked into the tunnel, as it was made of dirt.

"Swampert, the Diglett's underground! She's probably having a difficult time moving around, so use Earthquake. It should be enough to force Diglett to dig her way back up to the surface. Don't overdo it, because we don't want to cause damage to the terrain. Don't make it too weak, either - the ground is soaking wet, which will dilute the Earthquake's power." I instructed.

    Swampert nodded.

OOC: Please describe your moves more in detail next time or you will be further penalized. For example, how did Swampert use this earthquake? (seismic waves coming from it? Smashing fists into ground?)

"Swampert, the Diglett's underground!" Isaac shouted as he hatched a plan. "She's probably having a difficult time moving around, so use Earthquake. It should be enough to force Diglett to dig her way back up to the surface. Don't overdo it, because we don't want to cause damage to the terrain. Don't make it too weak, either - the ground is soaking wet, which will dilute the Earthquake's power."

Swampert nodded as she heard her master's plan. Quickly she slammed her fists on the wet ground as the earth began to shake. Before the tremor could peak, a pile of dirt sped across the mountain path as it hit the side of the mountain. I reasoned that the Diglett had burrowed into the wall as I tried to keep my balance. She was quite the pesky ground-type. When the aftershocks ended, the moving trail of dirt zipped back toward Swampert as Diglett remerged from the hold and slammed herself into Swampert. Swampert regained her balance as Diglett backed away to the spot where it once was.

Swampert slammed her fists into the ground. Seismic waves radiated from the impact, and both Bill and I struggled to maintain our balance. Swampert's mini-quake rumbled through the area - trees wobbled, pebbles bounced around, and dirt was thrown all over the place.

The power of the move seemed to be perfect. It had certainly caused a reasonably powerful quake, but not one that got out of hand - there was no damage to the terrain as far as I could tell. I figured Diglett would be desperately scrambling to the surface now, and after the Earthquake, she should almost be weak enough for me to try my hand at a capture.

However, the pesky Diglett managed to find a loophole in my plan. A small pile of dirt rumbled away from the side of the mountain, and it had seemed that Diglett (which was clearly at the epicenter of the moving pile of dirt) had dug into the mountain wall to avoid my attack. I frowned as I watched Diglett sneak her way back on to the mountain path.

Then, I realized something was off. Instead of travelling towards where Bill and I had first saw her, Diglett seemed to be digging her way towards Swampert. That must mean...

"Swampert, watch out for that pile of dirt! It's Diglett, and she's coming for you with a Dig attack!"

Too late. Diglett quickly got beneath Swampert as I was shouting and suddenly popped up, slamming her body into Swampert's flank. My Pokemon recoiled, more startled than hurt. The move had certainly done a bit of damage, but due to her natural bulk, she had taken minimal damage. Instead, Swampert seemed as though she had simply been unprepared for Diglett's surprise attack rather than hurt badly by the move.

As Diglett rushed away from Swampert, I ordered an attack from Swampert. "Let's use Ice Punch!"

Swampert nodded her head, acknowledging my command. She balled up a fist, and shards of ice suddenly sprouted from her flesh. Swampert bellowed, charging at Diglett with her fist ready to deal a blow.

I crossed my fingers. My rationale for picking Ice Punch was not simply to do damage - there was a small chance that Ice Punch could freeze Diglett, and while it was certainly not something that was particularly likely to happen, it would make things much easier if it did. I had used Ice Punch for the very same reason during my battle with Lampent earlier - if I could get another stroke of luck, perhaps I could capture this Diglett quickly while also doing something else I had planned to do.

"Let's use Ice Punch!" Isaac ordered as he rebounded from the unexpected dodge of his previous plan.

Swampert wasted no time as she clenched her large fist, and ice shards came protruding all around the balled hand. Locking eyes with the pesky mole Pokemon, she dashed toward her target like a raging bull. Diglett could move fast enough with the mud lying around; it could only stare as Swampert threw a solid hook to Diglett's face. The ground-type sat there with her face above ground, still dazed a little from the punch.

As Swampert returned to her trainer, Diglett hatched up a plan. She saw a pool of mud next to her as she inched her way toward it. She went right to the middle of the pile and dug underground a little. The mud pooled inside the hole when suddenly a large ball of it came bursting out. Diglett must have let the mud pile in and then use pressure to force it out with a large force. The ball slapped Swampert in the face; given that most Swampert have lived their whole life in muddy water, this was nothing new to her. Still, the impact did hurt a little.

Swampert's fist connected with Diglett and the grounded Mole Pokemon wobbled, dazed by the punch. Shards of ice were thrown through the air, knocked off of Swampert's fist by the impact. They were thrown into the ground and quickly melted due to the temperature of Mt. Deckbi.

Diglett's eyes refocused, and it seemed as though she had a plan of some sort. She dug a hole into a nearby pool of mud, and Swampert stepped closer to me as we waited anxiously to see what Diglett was going to do.

Suddenly, a ball of mud was thrown into Swampert. My Pokemon roared in surprise, but quickly regained her senses. Mud was not a problem to my Swampert, as Swamperts as a species generally resided in muddy waters and were completely at home in mud. The impact of the mud should've dealt a bit of damage to my Pokemon, but I was hardly concerned. Instead, I figured we would retaliate. I strongly suspected that one or two more attacks would be all I needed before I would get a good opportunity to catch Diglett.

"Alright Swampert, let's try using Waterfall," I instructed.

Swampert's pores released water, and she charged at Diglett once again with water streaming wildly behind her. The impact of the move would be strengthened by the raging water, and Diglett may end up flinching. However, I really didn't care about that as Diglett flinching would hardly help me.

"Alright Swampert, let's try using Waterfall," Isaac ordered.

With a blink of her eyes, water rushed from the water type's pores. The pressure became powerful enough to completely cloak her as she dashed on all fours toward the annoying ground type. Closing the gap, the water sprayed with enough pressure to have the force of a full electric pressure washer. Lowering her shoulder, she smacked right into Diglett.

The crash of the water and the body surely disoriented Diglett; her head have side to side a little bit before she could shake it off. Diglett looked around for her next method of damaging Swampert. Quickly sinking back into the ground, the trail of dirt jetted into the rock wall before a collision sound could be heard. Suddenly, a few loose rocks came crashing down toward Swampert; Diglett must have rammed into the wall. The first one, she dodged by moving to one side. Then another almost bashed her on the other side which she dodged barely my moving again. Unfortunately, she could not move fast enough as the final two rocks bashed her on both sides. Swampert had a couple of gashes on her; I was curious to see how she was after the hit.

Swampert's Waterfall connected with Diglett, and the Pokemon swung side to side almost comically before regaining her senses.

"Great job, Swampert!" I called to my Pokemon.

Diglett eyed my Swampert angrily, and the troublesome Ground-type retreated underground. The moving pile of dirt that was Diglett digging her way through the earth quickly went towards the rock wall. I wondered what she was trying to accomplish, but it became clear when she slammed into the wall. Loose rocks fell down towards Swampert.

    "Swampert, watch out!" I called.

Swampert managed to avoid the first two rocks, but the final two managed to hit her flank. Bruises appeared.

Studying Swampert, I cursed. She had quietly taken a lot of damage over the course of the battle, and the battles before. Bruises and cuts marked her body, and she was clearly fatigued. How could I have let this happen? Normally, there would've been no way I would've allowed Swampert to take so much damage... I wasn't focusing. I had to replenish Swampert's health somehow. It was something I had planned to do from the beginning of this battle, but given how things were now, I had to make it my number one priority.

"Come on, Swampert! Try hard for a little bit longer!" I called. My Pokemon nodded, and I continued. "Use Ice Beam to freeze the ground around Diglett. Don't worry about hitting the Pokemon, but make sure you freeze the earth around her so she can't move. Next, use Yawn to put Diglett to sleep!"

Swampert nodded, and inhaled as she prepared for the first part of this combination of moves. This was something I figured would temporarily keep Diglett at bay while I recovered Swampert's health. With the ground frozen, Diglett would be unable to move. That would help with landing a hit with Yawn, which was a move that created a slow-moving, pink ball of energy that caused anything it passed through it to fall asleep. That was the first thing I had to do in my plan.

Swampert exhaled, shooting an blue beam of energy from her mouth.

Don't worry about hitting the Pokemon, but make sure you freeze the earth around her so she can't move. Next, use Yawn to put Diglett to sleep!"

What a strange combination of attacks! This was a rather intriguing use of resources. The ground was already wet and semi-flooded. With a deep breath, Swampert spouted out a blue beam that she began spraying all over the ground. The earth around the combatants froze a couple of seconds later. Diglett tried going underground, but something was wrong. The ice around her would not let her move. She was now right where Swampert wanted her. Diglett tried to muster a plan as a white shimmer formed in front of her. With a brief flex, the shimmer broke into several green orbs. She was out of options other than using her Hidden Power. The orbs struck Swampert but they did not prove to be a worthy adversary for Swampert. What was that power? Nobody knew. Nevertheless, With another large inhale, a pink ball began slowly traveling through the air. Normally, it would be easily avoidable; but all Diglett could do was watch as the orb struck her and sent her off to sleep.

Perfect. My plan had worked to perfection.

Diglett was now asleep. She had tried resiliently until the end, even using the mysterious Hidden Power move to deal some damage to Swampert. It hardly did anything, however. Now, I could do what I had planned to do from the beginning.

    "Swampert, use Rest!" I commanded.

Swampert nodded. She closed her eyes, and dozed off. Rest was a self-recovery move that healed her back to full health, but put her to sleep for a while. She had been weakened quite a bit during these battles, and I figured this would be really helpful long term.

OOC: Not much I can really say in this post, so please excuse the shortness. Hell, I'm probably shouldn't even be doing this with all the homework I have. xP At any rate, I got it (barely) over the 500 char. minimum.
