"Zappy, I need you to do one last attack. I need you to send out a single Thundershock, which should just bring the Kingler down close enough. Once you bring down that bright bolt crashing upon its head, you can come back, and take a nice, long, peaceful rest," Master cried out.

A bright yellow ball appeared in front of Zappy's head, and she growled at the Kingler as it grew bigger. When it was the size of her head, she howled, and a dagger-headed lance shot out of the top of the orb. The rest of the sphere unraveled like a ball of yarn, following the head. It arced into the air, and struck the Kingler firmly in the middle of its shell, knocking it into the ground.

The Kingler seemed to realize it was too weak to move, so it decided to go long-range, even though that was not its specialty. The foamy bubbles around its mouth grew more pronounced, and when they were larger than cricket balls they detached and began floating towards the wounded Jolteon.

I watched as the Kingler spit bubbles towards Zappy. I didn't like it, but she had to take the attack head on. She was too injured to move fast enough away, and there was nothing I could try and do to them that wouldn't mean risking making the Kingler faint. As much as it pained me to do so, I had to let her take the hit, so that she could rest easier in her pokeball once the Kingler is nabbed. It wouldn't even cause as much pain as many other attacks a Kingler could do, so she should just feel a small sting from it.

Meanwhile, I had to focus on the bigger picture. That Kingler was weak, it was partially Paralyzed, and it was ready to be caught. I could stand to be in a better position at the moment, but I had to take the chance. Now was the perfect time of all to attempt to capture the mon. After all the hard work we had put in, now was the moment. I reached into my backpack, and pulled out a tiny sphere. It was yellowish-gold all over the top half, and white on the bottom. As I pressed the button in the center, it expanded, and black stripes were visible on the top of it. It was one of the most powerful types of balls the park offered; the Hyper Ball. I fumbled with it in my hands for a few minutes, until I found the perfect spot to hold it. Then, I prepared myself. I pulled my hat down, turned to the side, pulled my hands back behind my head, lifted my leg, and threw the ball, straight at the Kingler. I smiled as it zipped past, heading straight on a collision course with the Kingler, ready to smack it in the head and pull it inside, then capture it. This was one of my only two shots with this type of ball, so it had to count.

The bubbles moved towards Zappy at a speed I would label "jogging". The bubbles struck the poor Jolteon in it's face, but the attack was more unpleasant than painful. Some of the water/saliva mix stuck to her fur, slowing her down further, but seeing as she wasn't moving anyway that wasn't really a loss.

I noticed Master fumbling around inside his backpack. He pulled out a small sphere, which grew in size after he pressed a button. I realized it was a Hyper Ball. He was finally going for the capture! He took aim, and threw the sphere at the almost-fainted crab Pokemon. It struck the Kingler squarely on its small claw, which was shielding its face. The Kingler got absorbed into the ball in a flash of red light, and the multi-coloured sphere fell onto the sand. It wiggled for a little bit, but finally stilled.

"Congratulations," I said to Master as I walked over to the Hyper Ball and picked it up, "you just captured a Kingler."

"Finally. Took long enough for the stupid thing to finally be caught. Zappy, come on back, you need a nice rest," I called to her as the pokeball shown a bright red light on her and pulled her back inside. "So, Chainy. I think I'm sick of battling on land. Wanna go back out to sea?" I asked as I threw a pokeball in the air and my trusty Chomp appeared beside the sea, raring to go.

"Finally. Took long enough for the stupid thing to finally be caught," Master grumbled as he returned Zappy to her ball for a well-needed rest. HE then turned to me and said, "so, Chainy, I think I'm sick of battling on land. Wanna go back out to sea?"

I didn't blame him, that was one of the most hardcore battles I'd ever witnessed as a Ranger. "Sure," I replied, and as I summoned Smash back out Master brought out his Garchomp. Both Pokemon entered the water of the lake and we were off.

The water was cool, which was nice because the sun was just a little hotter than I would like it to be. We were surfing along, not really going anywhere in particular when I heard some chime-like calls. A Dratini and a Dragonair whipped past us, calling greetings. They dived in and out of the water playfully.

"Want to try catching either of them?" I asked my Trainer. "If you do, it'll be a double battle," I warned him.

"Great," I said in the most sarcastic tone I could do. "I find a double battle with two mons of the same evolutionary line, and I have their evolved form already. Well, these guys seem a little useless. I think we should try and head back for land, maybe find a mon or two, and wait until these things are long gone from this area. And if they try and follow us, I'll toss my pokedoll at them and let them fight over the little plushy."

"Great, I find a double battle with two mons of the same evolutionary line, and I have their evolved form already. Well, these guys seem a little useless. I think we should try and head back for land, maybe find a mon or two, and wait until these things are long gone from this area. And if they try and follow us, I'll toss my Poke Doll at them and let them fight over the little plushy," Master said to me.

I nodded. Seemed like a good idea. We started moving back towards land, but the two dragons followed us. When we were perhaps two minutes away from the lakeside, I motioned to Master. He threw the Poke Doll over his shoulder, and the Dragonair went to grab it. Before it could do so, however, the Dratini swooped in front of the bigger Pokemon and stole it. The smaller Pokemon then giggled and started flying away, with the Dragonair chasing it.

We arrived back on land, and I returned Smash to his Poke Ball. As soon as I did, I saw an Azurill playing with a small frog. I pointed it out to Master, and asked him if he wanted to try catching it.

"Great. I get away from one group of mons with no purpose towards me, and I find another one. Let's just try and find something else, Chainy. Let's keep heading along. Hey, maybe we'll find a tree I can toss some honey onto, which I just remembered is the whole reason we had come ashore the first time anyways. So, let's just keep on exploring the beach, huh? And I think I'll keep Chomp out just to be safe," I said to Chainy, ready to just pass the Azurill by without any trouble.

I nodded, but said nothing. Our little party moved inland, away from the lake, looking for a small patch of trees. I kept an eye on the large Garchomp - most had nervous or violent dispositions, and while this one seemed to be different I didn't want to take any chances.

After walking for a couple of minutes, I heard some high-pitched giggling. I looked around, and saw the Azurill. It was attempting (and failing) to hide in a tall patch of grass.

"The little one is following us," I said to Master. "What do you want to do?"

I got a lot of cash on me. 500 for the doll subtracted from my 24,150 means I get 23,650 back in change. Just toss it to the thing, and let's get along our way."

Master didn't want the Azurill following him, so he gave me $500 dollars for a Poke Doll. I tossed the Clefairy-shaped doll to the baby Pokemon, and it squealed in delight. It began bouncing on the doll like a child would on a trampoline. I smiled, but something told me it would get bored of the doll soon, and that we had better move on.

Two minutes after we left the Azurill behind, we came across a small pond in the middle of the plain, barely ten metres wide. Inside it was a small Shellos, frolicking in the water.

"Do you want to try and catch that Shellos?" I asked Master, pointing to the small Water Pokemon.

"Oh, cool. Something nice. Chomp, you wanna take this thing on?" I asked Garchomp, who eargerly replied by shotting Flames straight up into the sky, lighting it up into a brilliant crimson red. He lept with the speed of a cheetah right up to the Shellos, ready to begin the fight. He hadn't been in a fight at the park at all, and had to be content with watching Flygon and Jolteon take on pokemon with their attacks. He wanted to show them what power a truly powerful mon could do. He stepped into the water, and made an animalistic growl, showing the shellos it meant buisness.

"Alright Chomp, this looks like it could be nice," I told it. "Chainy, you better hold on, cause chomp is biting at the bit, and he's got some nice power to this first attack. Let's open this up with one of your Killer Earthquakes, Chomp. Take a nice chunk out before anything, then knock it down a little more to catch it. Send your powerful Earthuake all around here. Just try not to fell any trees or cause any Tsunamis as you do it."

Let's open this up with one of your Killer Earthquakes, Chomp. Take a nice chunk out before anything, then knock it down a little more to catch it. Send your powerful Earthuake all around here. Just try not to fell any trees or cause any Tsunamis as you do it," Master ordered.

I didn't understand the order, because there were no trees around and it was impossible to make a tsunami using an earthquake in such a small pond, but Chomp seemed to get the gist of it. He raised himself up onto his feet, preparing to slam down onto the ground. Thinking quickly, I knocked my two shoes together and the jets in my soles ignited, lifting me up off the ground. The second I took off, Chomp smashed into the ground. The Earthquake sent a large wave rolling at the Shellos, which knocked it onto land. The Shellos took a look at the large Dragon-typed Pokemon it was facing, and it began to shake. Despite its fears, it squeaked loudly, and clouds began to gather in the sky. Again, I knew what was coming, so I returned to land and summoned out Specialle, my Dusknoir.

"Hey Specialle, can you put up some shields please?" I asked her. She moaned, and a large purple rectangle phased into existence above herself, myself, and Master.

Not a minute too soon, I might add. The clouds boomed with thunder, and small chunks of hail began raining down.

I watched as chunks of Hail fell down from the sky, pelting my poor Garchomp. I knew it hated ice in any form, even if it barely hurt it. I could tell it felt a little uncomfortable fighting out of its element, so I decided to change it up a little on the little Shellos. "Alright Chomp, let's mix this up a little. Take out that Shellos' attack with a new one. Add a nice brew of Sandstorm to this mix here," I commanded Chomp. He raised up his head, and let out another low roar, only more fearful and commanding this time. As soon as he did, the sand all around lifted into the air and surrounded Chomp, as though commanded to by some unseen force. The sand then started to spin around Chomp, faster and faster, until it engulfed him in a sand tornado. When the vortex covered a height twice that of Chomp's, he released it, and sent the sand flying everywhere, causing a major sandstorm to occur and blind the field.

"Great job, Chomp. Now, we need to go in and attack while it can't see us coming for it. I want you to take a few seconds to charge up and to get into position, then I want you to unleash a full power Dragon Rush upon the Shellos," I told Chomp. I watched the sand, trying to make out anything, as a figure whizzed by. Chomp was on the move, confusing the poor Shellos and making it harder for it to try and evade Chomp. Then, when the figure I assumed to be Chomp found what I assumed to be the perfect spot to attack from, the sides of its head started to glow a bright blue, which was easily distinguishable through the sand. After a few seconds, the blue lights surged forwards towards the center of the sandstorm, which was where the Shellos was now located. The figure glowed a dazzling bright blue as it surged towards the creature, showing that a Garchomp could be a creature of aggression and power, but could also have a side of beauty.

"Alright Chomp, let's mix this up a little. Take out that Shellos' attack with a new one. Add a nice brew of Sandstorm to this mix here," Master said to the Garchomp. It roared, and sand began rising out of the grass to surround him. More and more grass flew up, until Chomp was invisible. When he was, he roared once more and the sand decompressed and shot out all over the field.

"Great job, Chomp. Now, we need to go in and attack while it can't see us coming for it. I want you to take a few seconds to charge up and to get into position, then I want you to unleash a full power Dragon Rush upon the Shellos," Master shouted. I switched my lens to heat-vision, and I saw the Garchomp rush across the pond. It smashed into the little Shellos, and sent it flying. The Shellos landed right-side-up, however, and fired a powerful Ice Beam at Chomp, which struck it squarely on the chest. I didn't think he got frozen anywhere, though.

"Alright Chomp, that was perfect. You knocked it around a little bit, but you took a little damage, and I think it's only gonna be worse the next time. So, let's try and catch this thing right here and now, before it gets worse for you. Chomp, I want you to hold back and be ready to move if it tries anything on you," I ordered Chomp, as much to its own benefit as mine. I didn't feel like having my mons get hurt. As such, I reached into my bag.

I pulled out another of the tiny spheres. But, unlike the last time, where it was a yellowish color, this one was pure, bright red all over the top with a white bottom and no markings. It was the standard, and cheapest, pokeball sold at the shop. The park ball was used for easier captures, such as one like this. So, I pressed the button, and watched in amazment, as I always do, as the tiny, small sphere expanded into one the size of my hand. I palmed it a little, waiting to get a right feel for it, then scanned the field for the Shellos. When I finally found it, a little beaten up and shaky, I cupped the ball in my hand, pulled my arm back, turned sideways, lifted my front leg, then stomped it to the ground as I leaned forward and tossed the ball as hard as I could straight at the Shellos, just like a baseball pitcher. I watched in awe as the ball soared as fast as it could, becoming a blur of red and white with a band of black between, right on a collision course with the Shellos, ready to shoot out a red laser and pull it inside, and hopefully hold it there until it calmed down enough to be proclaimed a successful capture.

Master unclipped a Park Ball from somewhere, and threw it into the sandstorm. I had no idea how he could hope to hit the Shellos when he couldn't even see it. I watched through my lens as the ball fell on the ground, nowhere near the Shellos. Before I could say anything, however, Chomp rushed over to the ball and slapped it towards the little Water Pokemon. He, at least, could see in a sandstorm.

The ball sucked up the Shellos. After shaking for a good half a minute, the ball stilled. "Congratulations," I said to Master, "you just caught a Shellos."

The sandstorm died down, and I picked up the ball and stashed it. "You've caught three Pokemon now," I reminded him. "If you catch any more, you'll have to leave some behind. Would you like to leave the Park now?"

Master didn't want to return just yet, so he thanked Chomp for a great effort and I returned Specialle before moving on. The sun had reached its zenith, for which I was happy about - it meant the day would only get cooler from here.

After walking for five minutes, we stumbled across a small stream, bubbling over some rocks. There was also a small forest in the distance. I knew Master was looking for a Honey tree - there might be one there. I was just about to lead him that way when I saw a Golduck lifting a heavy rock over its head. I thought that there was something underneath the rock, but I soon realised there wasn't. The Golduck was just exercising.

I pointed it out to Master. "You wanna try catching that Golduck?" I asked him.

I really don't wanna get into another fight as hard as the Kingler one," I told Chainy as I began to walk away from the Golduck without alerting it to my presence. "Let's just let it work out in peace, and try and find a honey tree or an even better pokemon."
