It's not really too much of a problem really. They still have to battle, meet MCR mostly and whatnot, so it's not like they're getting a mon for free (unless they get lucky with like a 10% rate and roll a 6 or something). And if they have poor post quality, you can always penalize them in battle with damage and such. We probably can't win since there will always be people that just try to scrape by. If anyone else has any other suggestions I'm all ears lol. Really not much we can do other than the standard stuff in battle.

Wow lots of posts. I'm kinda lost at what Winter and Bee have started discussing recently, but here's my take on stuff according to what I'm read (and I've probably read wrong, not exactly on top of my game today xD)

Regarding the two Rangers Rangering each other, as long as its done in separate threads I don't see a problem. In fact, banning this could be a problem - in order for a Ranger to go into the Park as a Trainer, another Ranger needs to take them through. So far, there's no problem. From what I can see the worry seems to be that if Rangers are Rangering each other, there might be bias or wheel-dealing going on where they exchange the Encounter Lists or make the best mons appear first or whatever. I just want to put it out there right now that I don't believe there are any Rangers that would do this. Sure, we might have let slip a couple of hints here and there, but never for our own gain. I can remember once I told someone that "one of the Pokemon (they're) looking for will be towards the end of the list". Instead of dragging their feet, they posted frequently.

Wow, that kinda went somewhere. Damn you lightheadedness xD What I'm trying to say is that Rangers are a trustworthy bunch, and in fact the URPG on the whole is trust-based. If we can trust people to not add extra money or moves to their Pokemon I think we can trust them to act non-biased in their professions.

I'm not a huge fan of re-entry waiting periods (in fact, I worked pretty hard to get it removed last time xD), but perhaps a 4 day wait if they leave before 5 encounters could work, idk. I don't even really know how this came up xD

Multiple Trainer SUs seem fine to me - lots of people create a character, have fun with them, then get bored and create someone new. As long as they port all their captured Pokemon and Park Items onto the new SU (yes, that's a small shot at Alaska and Roulette :b) then I don't see a problem with this. Also, I don't see a problem with people roleplaying as Rangers when they're playing the part of a Trainer in an Expedition. In fact, it's been happening for months now and all it's done has created a more binding and cohesive universe for our characters to live in.

Lastly, about punishing bad posters - if you've warned them more than twice and given them a couple suggestions, then feel free to open a can of worms on their behinds. The general rule to run by is in a "good" post the Trainer's Pokemon will have no more damage inflicted to them than is inflicted to the Wild Pokemon (excluding stat drops, if they're present). So, if someone's throwing out 700CC posts that are just horrific, feel free to drop their Pokemon's health by 50%. The most powerful consequence we can give to someone is fainting all their Pokemon one by one in battle so they lose the chance to capture whatever they were aiming for. I urge Rangers not to avoid this on principle - we want the Park to be fun and engaging, but also challenging and certainly not easy.

It's not Rangers making better Mon appear for each other that I'm really worried about. If anything most Rangers would probably try to draw everything out to get more money and might therefore make lesser Pokemon appear for each other lol. What I'm concerned about is Rangers getting money AND Mon from the same run. It's not really fair to normal Trainers who only get Mon from their run (barring special circumstances like events and such).

Rangers Ranging for each other in separate posts is fine. Otherwise Rangers would never get to go through the Park >>.

As far as the Ranger character going through as a Trainer, that just strikes me as weird for some reason, but meh.

I honestly never really liked making people wait to go through the Park after leaving it, but back then we didn't have enough Rangers to let people continuously run through the Park. At any rate, even if someone has caught 3 Mon I feel it'd be better to finish your run; after all, you never know if the next Mon you run into would be better than what you've already caught (not including special circumstances where you KNOW you're not getting anything better because there's nothing else you want other than what you've already caught).

If people wanna leave and come back I say let 'em. They'll still have to spend the money and possibly not find anything good whether they finish a full run or leave after the first encounter and come back. Making them wait won't change that fact.

    New topic time.

Sigilyph is currently Uncommon Rank in the Park. Should we move it to Intermediate? It's stats are pretty good for a mon that doesn't evolve. It's a bit like Absol in that respect, and Absol is Intermediate.

I think yes, it should be moved up.

I think it should be moved up.

Let's look at the total overall stats of Sigilyph, 490. Other Pokemon that don't evolve who are on the same base stat as Sigilyph are Kangaskhan, Tauros. Both are Intermediate.

As Winter said it's a bit like Absol, however Absol has lower overall stats, at 465. Other Pokemon who are on the same base stat as Absol are Sawk, Thor, Magneton, Bisharp, all are Intermediate.

What I am saying is that Sigilyph has same base stat and also has higher base stat than other Intermediate Pokemon. Just a thought to think about.

    My two cents.

As far as desire to have it goes, I disagree. It's too cool but out of fairness: given that it is a Complex mon; it doesn't evolve and has high stats I feel Intermediate is probably a more apt category for it.

Meh, not fussed, but the research seems to indicate that it belongs in Intermediate, so run with that.

While we're talking about moving mons around, can we have Escavalier and Accelgor moved to the Woods from the Gardens? They don't really belong there, and I forgot about em when Karrablast and Shelmet were moved.

I agree since I was the one who first offered to move it in the first place XD.

But yes, its stats are too good for the Uncommon rank. I also vote to move it to Intermediate.

EDIT: If the prevos are there then you can move them as well.

Sigilyph should be moved down/stay the same so I can find it easier. Yeah, it probably should be moved up.

Hey guys, if you haven't had the chance yet, check out the new Disk mechanics (as well as prices) in the Park shop!

What are we going to do about already bought disks, let them be rewriteable and unbreakable or have the old ones break as they would have normally?

EDIT: This question has now been answered and if you didn't see the Changes thread, it's decreed that old disks are to be upgraded to the new version.

Keeping the ball rolling, there's something I've been looking at for a while now. The Respect Hall has records for all boards but the Park - why are we left out? I can think of a few records to keep track of - highest Ranger Wages, most Pokemon captured in the Park, most fully completed runs, etc etc etc.

Also, something I just noticed - Mienfoo is Uncommon whereas Mienshao is Rare. While this isn't a huge problem, traditionally Pokemon that evolve normally (i.e. via level-up or move learning) are on adjacent tiers. So, the options are:

-Keep things the way they are
    -Drop Mienshao to Intermediate
    -Raise Mienfoo to Intermediate

Personally, I think we should drop Mienshao to Intermediate, because Rare is usually reserved for the final forms of Pokemon in a three-stage evolution family (like the starters) or very powerful Pokemon (Excadrill, Bisharp, etc). While Meinshao is good, it's certainly not as powerful as the other two-stages that lurk in this rank. Also, Mienfoo isn't good enough to be an Intermediate Pokemon imo, although I might allow myself to be swayed by cohesive arguments on this.

Mienfoo's an awesome mon move it up. I think Mienshao should be dropped to Inter rank. Though they're both great mons and quite a number of people want them, I think it would be pushing if we moved Mienfoo up to Intermediate. I'm fine with moving Mienfoo up though - if the others would want it that way. Also, if you look at the Uncommon and Inter ranks of Mt. Oktori,
Meditite, Medicham; Timburr, Gurdurr; Cubchoo, Beartic; Snover, Glalie; Makuhita, Hariyama; Scraggy, Scrafty. So, just like those pairs - Mienfoo, Mienshao could be in Uncommon, Intermediate respectively. Sneasel is in Uncommon while Weavile is in Rare. This is understandable considering the popularity of Weavile - maybe in the future the Scraggy or Mienfoo (or the others) could be like this, too.

BTW, sorry my argument sounds bad DX

Your argument is perfectly valid, Muddy, you underestimate yourself. Only thing I have to say is that Gurdurr evolves into Conkledurr so not really a valid example, but the reason Weavile is Rare is it evolves using Razor Claw. Actually, that means it should really be in Special, not Rare. Special is traditionally where special-method evolutions go, with the exception of Porygon2.

Any more input on Mienfoo and Mienshao? Anyone got anything to say about Weavile as well - should it be moved up to Special?

I know the stats aren't everything, it is also ability / movepool related but looking at it statistically. I have calculated the URPG stat totals with the examples as follows
    Mienfoo (U) | Scraggy (U) | Drillbur (I) | Sneasel (U)
    1399 | 1395 | 1455 | 1559
I think its safe to say that it isn't justified moving Mienfoo upwards, its a Hard Story mon which would equate to arounk 20K - 30K in stories. ((I know stories aren't park but its a worthwhile basis consideration))

Then we look at their evolutions.

    Mienshao (R) | Scrafty (I) | Excadrill (R) | Weavile (R)

    1719 | 1675 | 1715 | 1719

Now Excadrill has Sand Rush / Sand Force which effectively makes it a monster... (and perfectly justified Rare) Mienshao evolves normally as Chainy which would in my opinion drop it down to Intermediate. Again as Chainy said Weavile evolves via an external method, having said that Weavile is only Complex which in story terms = 30K - 40K wheras Minshao is for whatever reason Demanding. This poses a clear problem, moving it down means we could see complaints of level of mons being obtainable too easily, though I doubt that would actually happen.

Personally i'm all for moving it down if the other higher ups have no issue with it, but I think keeping it the same would work just as well and won't cause too much of an irregularity.

Story rank and Park rank are usually kept pretty close together. Park is almost always lower in MCR. I think Weavile needs to be moved up in Stories tbh, but it's not like many people write for Weavile.

It makes sense for Mienshao to stay where it is in terms of base stats, since it is similar to the others. I guess in the long run there really isn't that much difference between 25k and 35k, since you can take 7k off of the 35k anyway if you use a fragrance. I'm a little split on this one. I could see moving it down, but I think it should probably stay where it is.

Weavile's probably fine at Rare Rank. If you really wanted to move it up because of the Item need, sure, go ahead, but I don't think it's necessary. Vaporeon and Eeveelutions are Rare, as well as Wigglytuff, P2, and Clefable, and those all use Items to evolve.

Also, Special isn't always for mons that use Items or special methods to evolve. What about Salamence and Dragonite? They're Special Rank.

EDIT: Also, while on the topic of mon Rank, can I suggest moving Basculin and Stunfisk up to Intermediate? Not really necessary, but I think they don't fit well in Uncommon.

They're kinda in the middle, but going to base stats, Basculin (460) and Stunfisk (471) seem a little out of place in Uncommon next to others like Horsea (295) and Staryu (340). They seem to fit more in the Intermediate category with Golduck (500) and Cloyster (525). They're also lacking an evolution. I'll use Absol again as a base because they're similar. Absol only has a base of 465 and it's Intermediate. Also, Basculin and Stunfisk are Hard Story mons with a bracket of 20-30, and usually Park MCR is close to that.

    Thoughts on this?
