The final Flame Wheel attack sent the lavender Gloom fleeing for the next tunnel. Infernape was now content and happy that it had easily handled the Pokemon. "Don't get too cocky," I said to the fire monkey. "It was a Grass type and you clearly had the advantage, now go get that piece of candy corn it left behind." Infernape made a sound that fell somewhere between a chuckle and snort, I couldn't tell which, but retrieved the piece anyway. I pocketed the item. "Let's go on."

The next cave opened up to reveal a small white Pokemon gliding around the cave in spirals. It was the little Electric type Pokemon called Emolga. Emolga was almost completely white, but the skin flaps under its arms where yellow and its tail and top part of the head was black. I looked at Infernape, "Use Earthquake when it lands to battle, but try not to kill us in the process, I would not be in a good mood."

Infernape moved forward to use Earthquake.​

Instead of landing, the little flying squirrel started making strafing runs at Infernape, using the Aerial Ace move. The little white creature was a blur as it struck out Infernape, and since it didn't land Infernape couldn't attack. I would have to change my strategy.

"Infenape, try a Stone Edge move instead."

In response to my command, Infernape bolted to the nearest wall and with a few quick strikes of her fists large chunks of rock came tumbling from the stone ceiling above her. When the chunks of stone neared she would lash out with a well muscled leg and kick them at Emogla. In a few seconds four sharp stone were flying towards the electric Pokemon.​

Emogla tried to dodge the Stone Edge, and it did dodge the first two, but the third struck it squarely and sent it tumbling the the ground. But the little Pokemon was energetic and immediately bounced back up. It's ears took on a slightly yellow tint as it gathered the energy needed to for its next attack, which happened to be a Thunderbolt.

The bolt of electricity rushed toward the form of Infernape and caught her by surprise. By the time the attack finished Infernape was damaged and below half health, she wouldn't be able to battle much longer. I would have to finish this then heal her. "'Nape, strike again with a Flamethrower attack."

Although tired, Infernape's chest expanded as it gathered the fire inside it and fired off a stream of fire at Emgola. ​

Emolga was also tired and it failed to dodge the Flamethrower attack, finishing the small Pokemon's will to fight. When the Pokemon fled it left behind a Scarecrow Straw. "Infernape, use Slack Off and take a break," I said to her. As her body started to glow white and her bearing took on more of a lazy stance, I took out her Pokeball and recalled her to it. Next I retrieved the item and headed north.

The next cave revealed a small blue and black Luxio seating down, it's leg tucked beneath it. But it rose up to face us when I appeared. I wanted to use Infernape, but since she was resting I would have to use someone else.

"Snorlax, front and center." With a bright flash the giant sleeping form of Snorlax appeared. The Pokemon was on its back snoring contentedly. "Time for a Sleep Talk move," I said to his sleeping form.​

Before Snorlax could use its move, the little Luxio came bounding over, its body cackling with electricity as it built up a powerful charge. When the Pokemon connected with the still form of Snorlax all the energy that had been building up in Luxio's body was immediately transfered to Snorlax. The blue and cream form of Snorlax twitched slightly, but he continued to snore loudly.

When the electricity faded Snorlax began to speak in Pokemon. As he spoke a portion of the rock ceiling gave way and plummeted towards Luxio. Luxio looked up in surprise and caught the full force of the attack, flinging it away from Snorlax.

"Use Sleep Talk again."​

After experience the painful power of Rock Slide Luxio became enraged at Snorlax. It now leapt at the sleeping Pokemon, fangs bared and glowing as Luxio channeled its energy to its fangs. The smaller Electric Pokemon bit down on the rather large arm of Snorlax, its teeth barely drawing blood as the Pokemon couldn't fully close its jaws in a Crunch attack. The Luxio jumped back, it seemed to have a slightly pleased look on its feline face after completing the Dark typed move. Snorlax, on the other hand, was still sleeping soundly as his body also began to glow. I couldn't figure out what move it had done but I placed my guess somewhere between Defense Curl and Work Up. I knew it helped his stats but I couldn't tell with him sleeping.

"Snorlax, time to wake up. Use Brick Break!"​

The large round eyes of Snorlax snapped open when he heard my command. With a low rumble that sounded akin to a bulldozer Snorlax rose from the rocky floor. His lower fangs were bared as he glared at the injured Luxio. Even facing such a large opponent, the Luxio would back down. It flashed his own fangs and leapt at my Pokemon again. But Normal Pokemon was ready for the move, his right fist was already glowing with the energy needed to use Brick Break, a powerful Fighting type move.

The right fist of Snorlax and the fangs of Luxio collided together. While Luxio was not slouch in terms of battle, it wasn't going to stand up to a Snorlax on its best day. The blow sent Luxio spinning back to where it landed on the ground in a heap. Luxio rose whimpering from the ground and fled the tunnel, leaving a small piece of candy corn in its wake.

I patted Snorlax on the back. "Good work, that rest did you good. Now go retrieve that candy so we can get going." After he grabbed the candy we moved forward into the next cavern.​

When Snorlax and I walked into the cave we were greeted by the familiar sight of a small pool of dark water and a blue Mudkip swimming lazily around in circles, its head fin and orange cheeks the only thing above water. I nodded in appreciation at the basic Water type Pokemon. Once it reached its last evolution stage of Swampert that Pokemon could be a tough opponent to beat in battle if used correctly. I would know, I had mine own Swampert, but I hadn't brought it along. It was then that the Mudkip noticed me looking out it. It dived underwater and popped up on a the shore a few seconds later, ready to battle. Now I had a few choice of who I could use, but I decided on one guy instant.

With one motion I withdrew the Pokeball I needed and summoned forth the humanoid Alakazam. "Alakazam, why don't you start things off with a Charge Beam attack."

Alakazam closed his eyes and brought his spoons up crossed, a signal it was ready to attack. He muttered a few silent words and the spoons started to glow a bright yellow. He pointed the utensils at Mudkip at a bright yellow beam of electricity shot forth and headed for the Pokemon.​

The yellow beam of energy ask struck the small Mudkip, but because it was such a weak attack it didn't do too much damage. Mudkip, despite being hit by a super effective attack, opened his mouth and from his bowels sprang forth steaming hot water. The boiling hot water dropped on Alakazam and dissipated as steam a moment later. I was sort of surprised by the Scald attack seeing as how it was a TM, but earlier Pokemon had already used TMs so I should have been prepared for it anyway.

"Finish it off with Energy Ball now."

Quick as a flash Alakazam summoned forth an orb of swirling yellow and green energy that constituted the attack. With a small grunt Alakazam fired the move at the panting Mudkip.​
