Main RP: The Great Lakes

An Azumarill and Politoed showed up shortly after the two Azuril left. "I think these two want to battle you," Chainy said to us. They looked like they wanted to battle, but I wasn't in the mood. However, if Alaska wanted Azumaril, I would fend off the Politoed while she battled it. I looked at the Politoed, it looked kind of adorable, but I didn't want to battle it. I just shook my head and took out my camera and snapped a quick shot of it.

I waited to see what Alaska wanted to do. I wondered about what she said earlier with the dynamite and if she actually had some with her. If she did, we could have a problem.​

Both Pokemon had determined expressions and were in battle positions, but I didn't have time to battle them. I had other plans....

"I don't really need an Azumarill or Politoed," I said quickly. "That's totally the reason I don't want to stop right now...."

Ryuu gave me a curious look and I just sighed. "I'll tell you later," I whispered, possibly a little too loudly. I noticed Chainy and Bumbles staring at me. "LOOK OVER THERE!" I shouted then sent out Sparks. As soon as she materialized out of her Pokeball, she tackled me and began licking my face. Ryuu pulled her off. "STICK TO THE PLAN, SPARKS!" She immediately sat down and I pulled three pairs of sunglasses out of my bag. I placed one on Ryuu, one on Sparks, and the other on myself. "Now we're in business." I smiled to myself and turned to Chainy. "Where to next?"

Cameron shook his head. He didn't want to battle. Well, that was too bad for him. These two Pokemon looked serious. He even took a picture of the Politoed, but that didn't scare it off, like camera usually did to Wilds.

I heard the sound of a Poke Ball release, and so I looked over at Alaksa. Her Luxray was licking her enthusiastically, but Ryuu pulled it off.

"STICK TO THE PLAN, SPARKS!" Alaska yelled, and she pulled out three pairs of sunglasses, putting one on herself and each of her Pokemon.

"Where to now, Chainy?" she asked me.

I looked over at the Azumarill and and Politoed. They were slowly backing away. When they reached the lake, they fell backwards into it and swam away as quickly as possible. I knew how they felt. This was going to be an interesting run.

"Well, it's up to you, really," I said to her. "We can continue walking around this saltwater lake, or we can go out onto it, or we can go to a freshwater lake." I pointed in a direction away from the current lake. "There's one about ten minutes in that direction."

IC: "Well, it's up to you, really," Chainy said to Alaska. "We can continue walking around this saltwater lake, or we can go out onto it, or we can go to a freshwater lake. There's one about ten minutes in that direction." Since he asked Alaska, I waited for her to answer.

A fresh water lake could be interesting. I wasn't sure is Staryu or Clamperl were Fresh water Pokemon, but I was willing to go there is Alaska was. Maybe something interesting will finally come our way. So far, I hadn't really found anything I wanted, but I knew something would come up soon.

I was kind of hoping that the next Pokemon we found was someone I wanted, and was someone I could fight on land. Fighting on water was fun, but was much more riskier and harder to do, for me at least. So far, this trip was interesting, but then again, anything was interesting with Alaska.

Well, it's up to you, really," Chainy told me. "We can continue walking around this saltwater lake, or we can go out onto it, or we can go to a freshwater lake. There's one about ten minutes in that direction."

"Hmmmm....Politoed and Azumarill seemed to be frightened of me. The Pokemon here must be able to sense how much ass I am capable of kicking. Perhaps we should go somewhere else. TO THE FRESH WATER LAKE!" I pointed in a random direction and began walking.

Ryuu and Sparks seemed to shrug at each other before following me. Maybe at the freshwater lake, I'd find another Pokemon to add to my growing family.

 

"All those options seem too simple, I like to make things as convoluted as possible..." Daniel said. He picked two very long sticks off the ground and stuck them in the water. As if he was using stilts, he grabbed the tops of the sticks, placed each foot on a smaller stick that protruded from the side of the long branches.

Daniel slowly worked his way across, only getting the cuffs of his blue jeans wet, when suddenly, one of the smaller twigs broke! He lost his grip on the pole that supported his left leg. Fortunately, the one on his right was planted firmly in the bottom of the river. "That was close. Raiguy, see if you can reach the stick with your tail and swing across with Tail Whip."

Raiguy swung his pointy tail around, but only grazed the pole, causing it to crack slightly.

The pole bent towards the oposite side of the river and Daniel landed safely on the other side. "Um...I meant to do that." he said. As he let go, the pole snapped back, flying out of the river and hitting the ground, breaking in half. "Well, looks like Raiguy'll have to find another way across...or maybe over."

Daniel remembered their days on the sports track, and how Raiguy had won gold in the pole vault during the 2008 Pokeathalon. They would've went all the way too, if they hadn't been framed for use of Rare Candies. They managed to dodge a lawsuit, but decided to stick to battling. Daniel hoped Raiguy hadn't yet lost his talent. "Raiguy, grab that stick and vault over here!" he commanded.

Raiguy grabbed the stick and made a run for a river. He planted his pole, and went soaring through the air, landinf flawlessly on a branch, perfectly unharmed.

"Once again Raiguy, our immense style triumphs over all obsticles." Daniel said, patting Raiguy on the head, "Well, hope you have your own ride across."

"All those options seem too simple, I like to make things as convoluted as possible..." Daniel replied. He began looking around for something. I smiled. He reminded me a little bit of my brother who would go far out of way just to obtain experience in things, even if he'd never use that experience again.

Daniel eventually found two long sticks, and balanced precariously on them, he stilt-walked across the river, with a little help from Raiguy. Once Daniel was on the other side, Raiguy then pole-vaulted over the river. It was quite an impressive sight. The Raichu landed neatly on the branch of a tree in the small woods.

"Well, hope you have your own ride across," Daniel called over to me.

I nodded. I had multiple options here: Smash could swim me across, Specialle could float me across, or Dual could use his telekinetic powers and we could literally walk across. But I felt like doing things my own way. I decided to use a piece of my specialised equipment that I almost never got to use.

I tapped both heels of my shoes against the ground twice, and the small jet-propulsion systems activated, lifting me up into the air. I wobbled slightly as I had to regain my balance, but I'd spent quite a bit of time practising out the back of the Ranger lodge. Like usual, the higher-ups weren't fond of my technological gadgets, but they'd come in handy so they looked the other way, albeit unhappily.

I gently soared across the top of the river, leaning slightly forward to move myself. Once I was hovering over solid ground again, I spasmed my calf muscles twice, shutting them off. I dropped heavily half a metre, but it didn't really hurt that much.

I was going to look at Daniel's expression - it wasn't often I got to show off my fun stuff. But I noticed a Whiscash laying half-buried in the mud. I pointed to it.

"Want to try and catch that Whiscash?" I asked Daniel.

Both Trainers seemed to want to go to the freshwater lake, so we trekked off towards it, leaving the saltwater lake behind. For no reason whatsoever, I tossed a quick glance at the woods off in the distance. I thought I saw a flash of red, but it was gone before I could zoom in on it with my visor.

The day was warm, but not unpleasantly so. Therefore, it was too freaking hot for me. We were walking along a compacted dirt path that apparently saw frequent use. As we were walking, I saw a statue with a bird sitting on it. As we got closer, I realised that it wasn't a statue, it was a Ludicolo standing stock-still. And the bird that was sitting happily on its sombrero-like head was a Pelipper.

"Do you guys want to try catching one of them?" I asked as we walked closer.

I saw a Pelipper sitting on what appeared to be a statue. I wanted to walk the other way since I wasn't interested in that bird, but Chainy and Alaska kept going forward so I followed. As we got closer, I saw that it was a Ludicolo and that the Pelipper was just sitting on his sombrero hat. I let out a small laugh and pulled out my camera. I had to get a picture of this.

"Do you guys want to try catching one of them?" Chainy asked.

"I don't." I said as I shook my head. I already had a Ludicolo, and Pelipper wasn't on my list of Pokemon to obtain, at least not yet. So far, I hadn't really seen anything that I wanted, I was a bit disappointed, but I didn't want to let that bring me down, at least not yet. We still had some ways to go, so hopefully something was I wanted was coming out way. ​

 

As we walked towards one of the freshwater lakes, I saw a sight that made me damn near hysterical. A Pelipper was sitting on a Ludicolo's hat. I began to laugh insanely.

Do you guys want to try catching one of them?" Chainy asked, not yet aware of my laughter.

"I don't," Bumbles said.

Suddenly both of them turned to me expectantly, hoping for my answer. Unfortunately, I was in no state to give them one. I stumbled almost drunkenly over to Ryuu.

"Ryuu," I managed to blurt out as I pointed to the Pelipper and Ludicolo who were also now staring at us, "You know what that reminds me of? That time we were in Tiajuana an-and the seagull hat." I burst out laughing again. Ryuu began to make a deep growling sound in his throat-his way of laughing. Meanwhile, Sparks looked at us curiously.

"Gar, Garchomp chomp," Ryuu explained to her. She began laughing too.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA and the Mexican....ahahahaha."

I fell over laughing. I stood back up and attempted to speak. "I don't think I can handle owning either one now," I squeaked before collapsing again. Ryuu and Sparks fell down next to me, tears of laughter streaming from all of our eyes.

"I don't," Cameron said simply. By now I was sure that Cameron was a hardcore Collector - he often bypassed strong Pokemon for no real reason. He was probably here for some specific Pokemon. Last time he had come through looking for a Relicanthe, and he found one thanks to his Pokeplayer.

I turned to look at Alaska, waiting for her answer. I was mildly surprised to see her stumble over to Ryuu before breaking out in peals of laughter. I couldn't really understand what she was saying inamongst the bursts of mirth - the only phrases I heard were "Tiajuana" and "seagull hat" and "Mexican". Alaska actually fell over, she was laughing so hard. After a minute, she got up.

"I don't think I can handle owning either one now," Alaska got out before falling down laughing again. This time, Ryuu and Sparks did so as well.

Five minutes later, we were walking alongside a small-moving river that fed into the freshwater lake that was our destination. I heard splashing up ahead, so I zoomed in on the source with my lens. I saw it was a pair of Buizel play-fighting, hitting each other and shooting jets of water high into the air.

I unzoomed and walked backwards for a bit to talk to Alaska and Cameron.

"There's a pair of Buizel coming up," I informed them. "Either of you want one?"

OOC: Alaska, that post was so win

The way Alaska was cracking up looked really hilarious. I really wanted to know what it was that she was laughing about. I couldn't really make out anything other than 'seagull hat' and a 'tiajuana'. I didn't put anything together, but

We continued walking down after Alaska finished laughing. Whatever she was laughing at was bugging me because it seemed really funny and I wanted to know.

"There's a pair of Buizel coming up," Chainy informed us. "Either of you want one?" I hadn't realized where we were because I was so distracted by Alaskas crazy laugh. I shook my head. I already had a Buizel. Well, actually he was a Floatzel. I used it quite frequently since it was both powerful in speed and strength, however, his movepool was a bit lacking. I was unsure whether or not Alaska wanted it or not. I placed down a Pokedoll incase they came at us and Alaska didn't want it.

Daniel looked at the Whiscash with a mixture of fear and admiration. "Uh oh...be careful Raiguy, I read somewhere these guys can be very territorial. I think the safest...and also coolest thing to do would be to catch it." Daniel said, "But it's part Ground type, so Electric attacks won't work, even if it's wet."

Daniel paused for a moment, and then took a Super Potion out of his pocket. “Here Raiguy, this’ll help with your injuries.” He said, spraying Raiguy with the liquid.

Raiguy cringed a little, and then felt better than ever. He did a fist pump, then punched the air a few times just to show he was ready for the fight.

“I have a feeling this’ll be a long and hard battle.” Daniel said, sounding a little nervous, “The safest place to attack from will probably be up high from the trees. Start off with a Sweet Kiss, then Charm so his Ground Attacks don’t hit as hard. I know it’s not your favorite thing, but when facing a Ground Type, we have to be defensive. Stay put if he tries a physical attack, and hop to another tree in case of Earth Quakes or Fissures. He can’t hit us if we’re out of his reach, and his special attacks are going to be pretty easy to dodge. If he uses one of those, I’ll tell you what to do. Just uh… Watch out for Mud Bomb…”

Raiguy first jumped up onto a tree, then launched a few red hearts at the Whiscash. He then licked his paw, slicked his ears back, and made a pointing gesture at his whiskered foe. He readied for a dodge and counter attack...

 

Once I managed to control myself, we once again began walking to the freshwater lake. After a while, we came upon a pair of Buizel.

"There's a pair of Buizel coming up," Chainy informed us. "Either of you want one?"

"I'm fine with leaving them alone if Bumbles is," I said politely. "We can't let them get suspicious," I murmured to Ryuu and Sparks. Ryuu rolled his eyes, but Sparks's eyes lit up with excitement. "Can you guys spell dynamite?" I whispered and shook my bag around a bit.

Daniel decided to battle the Whiscash. He warned Raiguy about its Ground typing, and sprayed his partner with a Super Potion. Raiguy cringed away from the potion - those things stung. However, inside of ten seconds he was looking much better. He punched a fist into the air, then looked daggers at the Whiscash.

"I have a feeling this’ll be a long and hard battle," Dnaiel said nervously. He outlined a plan to Raiguy - mostly status attacks and hiding in the trees. It was a good plan - close range fighting would be dangerous to Raiguy. Nevertheless, I knew that Raiguy would probably have to get in close at some point in time.

Raiguy jumped back up into the tree. It blew a kiss at the Whiscash, and three little bubbly lovehearts flew over to the big blue fish Pokemon. They burst with a wet popping sound, and the Whiscash sat up and looked curiously at Raiguy sitting in the trees. Raiguy then slicked back his ears and made a comely motion at his opponent.

The Whiscash tilted its head, like it was confused, but it decided to play it safe. It launched a jet of water at Raiguy from its mouth. The jet foamed through the air as it shot towards Raiguy.

"I'm fine with leaving them alone if Bumbles is," Alaska said politely and when I looked at Cameron he shook his head.

"Okay, just don't make eye contact with them and they should leave us alone," I said. We carefully walked past the two playfighters, avoiding looking at them. Alaska had her hand in her bag, obviously holding something in preparation. I didn't ask what it was because I didn't want to know.

We successfully continued along the side of the river, and I saw a couple Pokemon. One of them shocked me.

A Poliwag was jumping up and down on the side of the river. That was normal. The Pokemon who it was entertaining, however, was not. It was a Feebas. My jaw dropped. These incredibly rare Pokemon were usually only seen in the higher up lakes. I had no idea what one was doing down here. Speechless, I pointed them out to Cameron and Alaska.

A Poliwag was jumping up and down by the edge of the river, but it was what I saw behind it that caught my eye. A small cute looking fish swam towards the edge. It was a Feebas, one of the rarest Pokemon in the lake areas. I wanted to take a picture of it, but I didn't want to scare it away. I had a feeling Alaska wanted to capture the Feebas, so while she did so, I was going to distract the Poliwag and try to make it leave while she battled. I didn't want it, but I felt I had to help her out while she went at it with a Feebas.

"Alright, come on out Scamper." I said, throwing a dark blue and black Pokeball in front of me. A blue looking dog Pokemon stood before me. It was about my size, but a bit bigger built. "All I want you to do is distract that Poliwag, I would prefer you try to make it leave, but I don't want to cause too much damage to it. I just want Alaska to worry about her battle. If you see the Poliwag going towards her, stop it with your Extremespeed attack." The blue Fighting Pokemon nodded, both of his fists began glowing a dark blue color as he ran towards the Poliwag, hoping to scare it away. ​

Raiguy grabbed the branch he stood on with his tail, then jumped off. He was still hanging on, but was significantly lower than before. Once the attack had subsided, he pulled himself towards the branch with his tail, planted his feet on it, still facing, down, and aimed a Quick Attack at the Whiscash. There was no way in the world that they'd be able to catch it without hitting it with a few close range attacks.

"Now Raiguy, bounce off of Whiscash with another Quick Attack!" Daniel said.

If Raiguy made contact, this would allow him to repeatedly jump from side to side, hitting Whiscash, while moving too fast to take serious damage from its attacks. Although there were many Pokemon who could best Raiguy defensively and offensively, very few could match its considerable speed. Raiguy accelerated in mid-air, bracing for impact with the Whiskered beast...

“That’s the ticket!” Daniel encouraged, “Watch out, he might launch another attack!”

Raiguy avoided the Water Gun attack by hanging off the branch with his tail. The foaming water jet passed over the branch, missing Raiguy completely. When the attack subsided, he used his powerful tail to brace himself against the branch, still facing upside down. He pushed off the branch, releasing his tail and flying towards the Whiscash. He smashed into it solidly, then bounced off towards another tree.

"Now Raiguy, bounce off of Whiscash with another Quick Attack!" Daniel said.

Raiguy began bouncing off the trees, making light scathing hits on the Whiscash. They were weak attacks, but too fast for the Whiscash to successfully attack. It launched a few small jets of water but they all missed.

Finally, it could put up with the Quick Attacks no longer. It shot a Water Pulse at the ground in front of it. The expanding dome of water crashed into Raiguy, knocking it out of midair and onto the ground. Luckily, Raiguy didn't seem confused.

After managing to sneak past the Buizel, I saw something that made my mouth fall open. There was a Poliwag jumping up and down in the water (which wasn't terribly exciting), but next to it was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen.

"Feeee-bas," it said with the voice of a thousand angels.

I felt my eyes glaze over as I went into battle mode. "I MUST HAVE IT!" I shrieked.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Bumbles shrug at Chainy and send out Scamper, his Lucario.

"All I want you to do is distract that Poliwag, I would prefer you try to make it leave, but I don't want to cause too much damage to it. I just want Alaska to worry about her battle. If you see the Poliwag going towards her, stop it with your Extremespeed attack," he told it.

Good. It would help keep the Poliwag away from my prescious fish. I realized Ryuu was probably still tired from our last battle, so I decided to use Sparks.

"SPARKS! GET THE BATTER 'CAUSE WE'RE GONNA FRY US UP SOME FISH!"

My black and yellow lion's body sparkled as electricity surged through her.

"START OFF WITH THUNDER FANG!" I yelled. Ryuu stood a little closer to me, looking slightly protective. "Don't worry," I told him as Sparks flew through the air towards my Feebas, "I promise I won't let the Feebas hurt you." He heaved a deep sigh. Probably out of relief.
