Main RP: The Great Lakes

Akinai winced as Kaya ran headlong into Shellos' trap. "I never really knew Mud Sport could be used that way...So much for thinking this would be an easy fight." As Kaya vainly tried to wriggle herself out, Akinai tried to think of a plan. Kaya can't learn Agility, so that's out. What to use...

"Kaya, try to see if you can jump out of that trap! When you're out, get yourself cleap ASAP by going into one of the more shallow pools. If all else fails...Use Baton Pass."

Akinai grabbed Jade's Pokeball, just in case, and waited.

Raiguy let loose another Thundershock, this one aimed at Gyarados’s tail. The snapping bolt of electricity zipped through the air, and it looked as if Daniel’s plan would work. But then Gyarados flailed around and jerked its tail to one side, thus avoiding the attack. The Thundershock hit the sand, and a weak jolt managed to leap from the ground to Gyarados.

The sea serpent hizzed loudly, but weariness finally caught up with him. His sides heaving, Gyarados slowly fell still, slumping to the sand and looking utterly exhausted. If he’d been a few decades younger, the Thrash wouldn’t have left him so tired, but he was getting on in years. Despite his obvious fatigue, the Gyarados wasn’t to be underestimated. His red eyes took on a distant expression, and after a second he lifted his head and shook his body.

“Gyarados is confused,” I muttered as the Water Pokemon twitched left and right, his fins shaking as he peered at a large bush. Then, Gyarados reared back and opened his jaws, a pillar of fire spilling from behind his fangs. The flames took on a five-pronged, star-like shape, burning bright red as they struck the bush and eagerly burnt it to a crisp.

“Looks like Gyarados thought the bush was Raiguy,” I clarified. “You should probably take advantage of this. If he doesn’t know where Raiguy is, he’ll probably keep attacking the bushes. But if he gets a moment of clarity you’ll be in trouble. Tread lightly!”

Kaya did her best to jump clear of the mud trap, but she was stuck fast. Shellos gloated on the other side of the trap, turning around and wiggling its rear at Kaya mockingly. Kaya, unable to free herself and unhappy about being teased, abruptly reverted to a bright haze of red light, arching through the air and returning to her PokeBall. A second later, Jade emerged from her Ball; the backlash of energy from Kaya’s returning jumped from her Ball to Jade’s, forcing it to let the Flygon out.

Shellos, not knowing what was going on, continued to gloat. Then it turned around, saw Jade instead of Kaya, and let out a startled squeal. More out of shock than anything, Shellos fired another Water Pulse, though this was considerably smaller and weaker than the last one it had used.

“Seems like you’ve caught Shellos off-guard,” I commented. “Now would be a good time to strike, before it can regain its wits.”

Akinai grinned at the Shellos' reaction to seeing a very large, angry Flygon in place of the struggling Eevee from before. As Shellos shot out a weaker pulse of water, Akinai tried to think of her next move.

“Seems like you’ve caught Shellos off-guard,” Arunei commented. “Now would be a good time to strike, before it can regain its wits.”

Akinai nodded. "Got it...Let's see, Jade, deflect that Water Pulse with a Supersonic, then be ready to strike with an Earthquake when it's disoriented! Teach that Pokemon that we're not to be taken lightly."

Jade nodded in fierce agreement with Akinai, and began to beat her wings quickly in an odd pattern. In moments waves of sound began to emanate from them and head towards the Shellos.

OOC: Any better?

 

Daniel watch Gyarados flailing around. "Raiguy, this is the opportunity we've been waiting for! Use double team!" Daniel screamed. Copies of Raiguy shot out of his body, surrounding Gyarados. Which one was the real one? That didn't matter. It may have been like beating a dead horse, but it would be the best chance they got for a head on attack.

"Now, thundershock!" As Daniel knew well, double team was a move that worked by running around so fast, it looked like there were multiple copies of the Pokemon using it. When Raiguy launched a thundershock attack, he proceeded to launch electricity from all different directions. It was like when he had used that electric tornado attack, only bigger. Much bigger. Even the copies that somehow stood upon water were all in perfect sync.

"Wow. Maybe I should think about entering a contest." Daniel said.

 

OOC: Yes, that’s better. Just so you know, though, it helps to describe all the moves you use in a post. The best way to do this is to describe how an attack will look as it’s being prepared and after it’s been used. That way, you can describe combos without actually saying if any previous moves hit or missed.

Shellos was still too bemused by the sudden change in opponent to do much more than watch in a daze as Jade easily whipped up a Supersonic, beating her wings in an odd pattern at such high speeds that it created supersonic waves. These waves broke up the Water Pulse, turning it into harmless water that splashed the sand around Jade. There was enough strength left in the Supersonic to make it continue forward, and the shrill sounds that I couldn’t hear were audible to Shellos.

Squealing, the snail flailed about as she tried to escape the assault. Her befuddled mind, however, led her straight into a bush, and Shellos poked herself on a lower branch. Giving a pained cry, Shellos hastily drew back and turned in a circle, soon facing the same direction again. Seeing the bush and apparently mistaking it for Jade, Shellos used another Sludge attack. The slime-slick saliva stuck to the branches, slowly oozing downwards.

“Shellos is confused,” I said. “They’re pretty sensitive to vibrations, which didn’t help considering those sound waves alone are enough to drive most Pokemon crazy.”

As I spoke, Jade got ready to use her Earthquake attack, watching as Shellos continued to battle with the bush she’d run into.

Raiguy’s Double Team was actually a pretty good ploy. Gyarados, already befuddled from his confused state, whipped his head back and forth as he roared angrily. It was impossible for him to tell most of the clones from bushes in the area, as it looked like none of the clones were moving. Swinging his tail around, Gyarados meant to strike at a Raichu near his left side, but the direction of the swing was off and he ended up smacking himself in the back of the head.

At the same time, Raiguy let loose with another Thundershock. It was basically one attack, but thanks to the speed Raiguy was moving at, it appeared to be several separate attacks. Thanks to the fact that Gyarados has knocked himself silly just seconds ago by bashing himself with his tail, he was left vulnerable to the attack as the weak pulse of electricity crackled through the air. Even if he had been able to move, the Thundershock was coming at Gyarados from all sides.

The attack struck home, and even though it was a weak attack, Gyarados’s typing made it a much harder blow than it might have otherwise been. Thrashing around and bellowing, Gyarados ended up slapping Raiguy with his tail, sending the Raichu flying into a bush several feet away. After a few moments of violent convulsing, Gyarados started to slither towards the nearest pool, his eyes wide and his nostrils flaring. His sides heaved as he struggled to reach the water, but he was old and now very exhausted, and he wasn’t capable of moving very fast. Still, he was desperate to get to the safety of the pool, and that desperation could make the difference between safety and capture.

“You’d better act fast,” I told Daniel. “Gyarados is weak, but if you give him too long he’ll reach the pool and most likely flee. That, and you should probably check on Raiguy to make sure he’s okay.”

Daniel looked at the confused Gyarados. He didn't want it to flee. He took out a Super potion and a Parkball. He threw the Parkball at Gyarados and sprayed Raiguy with the super potion. Daniel couldn't remember having ever thrown somthing with such power; it was almost as fast as a baseball thrown by a professional pitcher.

"If he gets out of the Parkball, use double team around him again so he won't escape." Daniel said to Raiguy, as the mouse slowly approached the sea serpent. I hope this works... Daniel thought. His heart was pounding faster then a stampede of Tauros.

As the Shellos continued her attack on the small, thorny, bush, Akinai couldn't help but watch in bewilderment. "But that bush looks nothing like Jade!"

Jade noticed this distraction as well, and decided to take full advantage of it. Using her wings once more, she lifted herself off of the ground. Flying a fair distance up, she suddenly ceased her ascent and dropped like a bullet to the ground. As she crashed down, tremors began to ripple out around the Flygon.

Daniel hurled the parkball straight at Gyarados and hit it head on. Its long blue body evaporated into the blinding red light. It eventually dissapeared into the ball and fell to the ground. It was hard to see wheither it was aobbling or not, as the soft tide of the lake was twisting and turning the ball. Senzura then heared a faint "ding" sound, and knew the capture was made. Daniel was still tending to Raiguy, so Senzura picked the ball out of the water and handed it to Daniel

"You diffinatly earned it" Senzura said to Daniel with a smile

Senzura then surveyed the area to see where the would head next. Right now the were on the shore of a large lake that seemed to go on out passed the horizen, although some faint land could be seen. Thisd was inaccesable without Surf, however, so Senzura payed it no mind. The shore also went on for quite a distance, eventually becoming a short, curved punninsula about a mile away. This small bit of land was coverd in some exotic trees.

Behind the group, there were some wet grassy feilds that eventually met a muddy hill. What was on top of the hill could not be seen due to some small bushes blocking their veiw.


"So Daniel" Senzura asked "Where do you want to head next?"

"WOW! A GYARADOS! I DON'T BELIEVE IT!" Daniel said grabbing the Pokeball and tossing it about 30 feet in the air, only to catch it again. Raiguy jumped up while he and Daniel pounded each other's fists, letting off a few small sparks.

"So Daniel" Senzura asked "Where do you want to head next?"

Daniel thought honestly about this for a while. "Raichu hasn't completely 'mastered surf' and I don't think he's up for it after that battle." he said, "And suppose we go over to that muddy hill. Chances are we'll meet some water and ground types, and Raiguy would have a massive disadvantage fighting in a muddy area, so I think it's best if we keep on walking."

Daniel then noticed that the peak of the hill was blocked by a group of bushes. "Then again, it never hurts to check it out. I'll make sure to be careful we don't cause a mudslide or anything." he said, unable to resist the temptation of a challenge. "TO THE HILL!"

Daniel soon decided opon heading up the hill to see what was there. Senzura nodded and began making his way toward the muddly landmass. As he approched, he relized the climb would not be easy. The hill was riddled with patches of mud and asorted grasses. These would block their veiw of their footing if they tried to climb the normal way.

Senzura reached into his small knapsack and pulled out a rope. He looked toward the top of the hill for somthing he could tie the rope to. He saw a small jagged bramch that looked strong enough to hold the three of them. He made a loop in the rope and began to swing it above his head. He tossed it with all hiws might and made a perfect hit on the branch. He tugged the rope a little so the loop would squeeze the branch, and they began their climb.

The climb went relitivly easy, aside for occasional mud being kicked into Raiguy's face, who was the last one up.

When they reached the top they surveyed their surroundings once more. They were currently in what seemed to be muddy, shrub coverd smamp. This smamp continued eastward for about a third mile, where it slowly met the ground and continued parrallel to the shore. Beneath them, they saw the shore they were just on, which continued eastward as well where it enventually became a penninsula. The land across the massive lake was now more vissable, but still impossible to reach.

In front of them, a grassy feild went on for a third mile where it eventually decended and met another lake. This lake curved westward around the large hill they were currently on, where it met what seemed to be an entrance to a cave. However, this was a large distance away. Senzura relized they were not on top a hill, but rather a cave.

"Zu-rill...." said a feint sound "Azu-zu-rill!"

Senzura looked around to find what seemed to be a small azurill playfully heading eastward along the bushy swamp. It was slowly heading toward them, walking playfully. Its whole body was coverd from the bushes they were standing. It seemed to be having a great time.

Raiguy twitched slightly. It was very clear to Daniel that he didn't enjoy the climb. He began angrily screaming various noises, which Daniel assumed were Pokemon-profanities. Raiguy perked up slightly when he saw the Azuril. Seeing the baby Pokemon acting so cheerful helped to brighten his spirits.

Daniel wasn't feeling to great, however, and no amount of cheerful Pokemon would get him out of this state. He hadn't realised how massive the climb was until they got there, and he dispised climbing. "I think it's best if we leave this one alone. I prefer power over cuteness, but that could just mean that I'm tasteless. Plus, I could never figure out how those things spit out more water than their bodies are phsically capable of holding...then again, that's the case for a lot of Pokemon."

Daniel took a sip of water from a stainless steel water bottle he had brought with him and brushed the mud off of his pants. "Well, I guess we keep on lookin' then..." he said drowsily. He hoped to find a strong Pokemon soon; not only so he could catch it, but to have a satisfying battle to bring back his good mood. "That field over there looks kinda nice, and I think I see some Pokemon in the lake...too far away to tell what kind they are, though. After you, my good sir."

Daniel decided opon heading across the feilds to the take on the other time. The group struggled to get their feet out of the deep mud, but after that, the walk was smooth and easy.

The slope was slow, but the group had their fair share of slips on their way to the lake. When they finnaly reached the other side, the stopped to survey the area. In front of them, a wide open lake. To the east, the shore went on and on, eventually curving forward to create a round shape. However, to the west, the lake curved the other way, causing the lake to form and zig-zag shape. The westward shore curved around the cliff, eventually ending at the entrence to the cave about a forth mile away.

Suddenly, there was shacking beneath Senzura's feet, and a Krabby emerged and knocked Senzura off his feet. The little orange pokemon jumped a few times and backed up a bit, worried that Senzura might fight back. It turned to the lake and scuttled around a few times, as if waiting for somthing.

Daniel laughed at the small crab Pokemon tripping up Senzura. Extending a hand, he said so that the Krabby couldn't hear: "Krabby's got great power and all, but I think I'll pass on this one. The last thing I need are pinser-wounds. Plus, you know how much some people enjoy eating Krabby. I gotta say, it doesn't taste half bad."

"I wanna check out that cave over there...geeze, all this walkin' is making me pretty sweaty. If we keep going like this, we'll end up completely lost!"

Senzura cringed a bit. This Daniel kid was beggining to scare him. The small Krabby jumped into the water and swam away scared.

Daniel had decided opon investigating the cave that was to the west. The began to causiously follow the shore, being sure not to get lost. A small breeze was coming through, creating some small waves on the lake.

As they continued west, a cliff began to rise beside them just off to the side, trapping them on the shore. The Lake continued to cure around west, eventually heading south-southwest. As they went surther, the cave began to come into veiw.

There was a area of the cliff that jutted off to the side that was the entrance of the cave. A arch of rocks surrounded this entrance, eventually meeting the lake. This formed a gagged reef in the water. Small waves crashed agaist this reef, splashing water into the groups faces.

On top of one of the groups of rocks was large, white Seel. The Seel was rolling around on top the rocks somewhat absent-mindedly.

Daniel rolled his eyes at Senzura. "Jeeze, I was just makin' a joke..." he said walking over to the Seel, "Hmm...this one I'm indifferent about, but I think I'll leave it. Seel are cute, but they aren't really that rare. Now let's stop fooling around and get inside that cave!"

The Seel continued rolling utop that rocks, eventually falling into the water, creating a huge splash. Senzura cleaned the water off his glasses, then put them back on. The cave seemed quite dark, so he pulleed out 2 flashlights from his sack, and threw one to Daniel.

"Here, take it" Senzura said "If you get lost in there, just yell"

Senzura causiously walked into the cave, viewing the buitifull cave scenary. To the sides of them, two gutters were carved into the ground. Water gently flowed back deeper into the cave. A few seconds later, Senzura relized how strange this was.

"Wouldn't streams normally flow into the lake?" he said to himself "These streams seem to be flowing deeper into the cave.

There were a few stalagmites above them, but not enough to be a hazards. They went a few more feet in to discover a round shape blocking the flow of water. It was an Omanyte. It was just calmly laying there, staring back up at the group.

Daniel looked down at the Omanyte with eager eyes. Omanmyte was one of Daniel's favorite Pokemon, although he worried he'd never get the chance to see one, as all of them had died out hundreds of years ago. "I'm gonna catch this one! Raichu, surround Omanmyte with double team and then use Thunderwave!"

Raichu began to run, faster and faster, until it seemed as though there were several of him. He then launched the electric pulse like attack at Omanmyte. "That's the way to go, now use light screen so he doesn't try anything funny!" A greenish wall formed around Raiguy, eventually taking the shape of a square. "Heh heh! We got 'em right where we want 'em!"

Daniel commanded his Raichu to perform a double team. The Raichu bagan running around the cave at a high speed, causing it to seem like he was making copys of himself. The Omanyte just stared blankly, as to seem like it wasn't falling for a cheap trick. It continued to bask calmly in the water.

It was then Daniel commanded RaiGuy to use thunderwave on the Omanyte. Raichu ran over to the small stream, and plunged a bolt of electricity right on top the Omanyte. It hit the round pokemon head on, causing a few flickers of electricity to travel slowly up the stream.

The Omanyte then began quite agressive, not pleased it had been disturbed. Its small black and white eyes grew red, and it stood up to reveal its blue tentecles. It stared straight up at the ceiling and began to glow. It was then Daniel commanded Raichu to perform a Light Screen. However, RaiGuy just grunted and crossed it's arms. It was not happy to have to do so much at once.

The Omanyte began to glow harder, and suddenly the stalagmites on the ceiling came out of the rock and pointed straight at RaiGuy. They flew at amazing speeds at hit the round, yellow pokemon head on, causing him to yell out. The many different Raichu illusions faded, all being dissapated from the sttack. They reduced some of the damage from the Omanytes attack, but not by much. The Omanyte crept closer to Raichu, very angry it had been disturbed.
