OOC: Holy sweet-and-sour sauce on a Sunday afternoon in July, Batman! I’m FINALLY making a post! And for once it’s not a tiny, two-sentence pittance, either ^^. But at first I was making a post as if I’d brought my Froslass, and I had to redo most of it @[email protected] Ah well lol.

And yay, Aero!

Outer Heaven​

I couldn’t believe it. Not only did I have the once-in-a-lifetime chance of seeing Arceus’s mighty form in person only minutes after arriving at Outer Heaven, I was now in the presence of one of the rarest Pokemon in all existence: an Areodactyl! Ren let out a startled exclamation upon seeing the stone pteradon, then remarked that Arceus’s call had probably roused it from an ages-long slumber. I nodded absently, not so worried about its mere existence as I was about how to go about battling it. The Aerodactyl looked angry, that was certain; whether it was because it had just woken up or simply didn’t like our presence was impossible to tell.

‘The cause of Aero’s ire isn’t important,’ I thought, watching the pteradon flying above us. ‘All that matters is that it’s mad, and that an angry creature makes more mistakes than a level-headed one. Still, I can’t be careless. Aero are powerful Pokemon, and a single bad move can spell disaster for any of my own Pokemon. Let’s see…Seagem is weak to a lot of Aero’s moves, and Databyte would take neutral damage from most of them. Ripper would have the best physical protection, but he’s slow. In THIS battle, speed is going to matter. Seagem would be the ideal choice, then. She’s fast, strong, and has solid defenses. But it’s going to take more than sheer stamina. Seagem has powerful combos, but they take time to set up, and anyways, she likes to show off too much. I think Databyte is going to be the best bet here. It might not have the best defenses, but its fast and can quickly set up. Not only that, it has a lot of moves that don’t require it to be in close-quarters; if it doesn’t have to get close to attack, it can avoid being struck.’

My mind made up, I drew forth the Ball that contained Databyte, my Porygon-Z. I pressed the lock-release button in the middle of the sphere, causing it to expand and fill my hand. Once it had taken its full size, the Ball popped open with a bright flash of glaring white light. When the light faded away, Databyte hovered about shoulder height, its dark-pink body hanging motionlessly in midair. The Pokemon’s dark blue arms and same-colored tail hung without so much as twitching; the computer’s feral yellow eyes were dark, like a screen that was turned off. Clearly Databyte had been in what I called its power-save mode (sort of like a doze to most other creatures), but within seconds of being released from its PokeBall the Porygon-Z snapped to alert attentiveness. Its eyes flickered before taking on a bright yellow hue as it turned its gaze to me, then glanced up. It made a soft mechanical hum upon seeing the pteradon above us.

“All right, Databyte, we’ve got a pretty tough battle ahead of us,” I told it. Databyte looked back at me and nodded once, the only movement it made. “Aero is fast and strong, and its physical defenses are solid. We need to play a hard game of keep-away while we wear it down.” Databyte didn’t respond, but I knew it understood completely. Keep-away was our codeword for battling while remaining out of the reach of the enemy’s attacks. A strong Pokemon like Aero could take Databyte out in just a few hits, so it fully grasped the importance of staying out of its foe’s range of attack. “Let’s start with a little space-time manipulation, and then follow it up with some of that mental fortitude of yours to further muddle Aero’s capabilities.”

Databyte gave a low hum that ended in a series of rapid clicks as it processed the commands. It then flicked its tail straight up and held its arms out so they were parallel with the ground. Afterward, the supercomputer began to run a number of highly complicated algorithms, and within seconds it was pulling up hundreds per second. Eventually, the overload of mind-bogglingly complex information began to take a toll on Databyte, despite its ultra-powerful processors and extremely capable data banks. Before the lag could cause a fatal system error (thus leading to a crash), Databyte dropped its arms and tail in a violent jerking motion, forcibly ejecting the data as it started to corrupt. This ejection into the physical world cause a bizarre effect to take place; the corrupting data caused a vacuum in time and space, were speed was reversed. The Trick Room didn’t spread too far, only reaching for a few dozen yards in all directions. Slow-moving Pokemon caught in the move’s influence would find themselves moving at hyper speeds; faster Pokemon, like Aero, would discover that they moved much slower than they were used to. Not only would it cause physical delays, it would throw off any effected by it until they got used to the new conditions.

On the heels of its Trick Room, Databyte lifted one arm and pointed it at Aero, focusing its considerable concentration and dumping unused information to further bolster the output of its processors. Thus prepared, Databyte formed drew forth some of the corrupt data in the air, being careful not to download any of it back into its systems. Once it had gathered a small sphere that flashed an array of colors, Databyte injected a new information packet into it. This packet contained specific antivirus deletion software, and within seconds the data-sphere had been formatted. Fresh, blank, and devoid of any color, the data could be rewritten, which Databyte set to doing. Flipping through its dozens of data banks, the Porygon-Z drew up a file on the Psychic type, then opened a sub-folder containing all information it had on every Psychic-aligned move. It cross-referenced my code term with the move in its banks that matched the term; “mental fortitude” was the term I used when I wanted Databyte to perform a Psychic attack.

Once it had found the information it wanted, Databyte imprinted it into the data-sphere hovering in front of its outstretched arm. It then swung its arm in a single counter-clockwise circle, sending the data-sphere, which was now a pulsing lavender hue, flying towards Aero. It had only taken a few seconds to prepare; such was the awesome power of Databyte’s construction.

"Leo, you need to go and get Ranger Ren ASAP." The Julie, the front desk attendant for the day said.

"Yeah, okay." I said as I continued resting my head on the desk. I had just come back from doing a park run and I was kind of exhausted.

"Do you not know what ASAP means?" She barked as she stood at the door of my office.

"Yeah, it means as soon as possible, obviously it's not possible right now?" I grumbled as I tried to sleep.

"And why not?" She snapped.

"Because I am really busy right now." I said grinning.

"You are just sleeping, that isn't work or being busy." She argued. "The Head wants to see her immediately, something is going down." I knew that since the Head wanted to see her, I had no choice but to get up and go down there.

"Where are she?" I moaned as I rubbed my eyes.

"They are at Outer Heaven." She said, with a grin on her face.

"They, you mean I have to finish her run?" I asked. She nodded. "Stop enjoying this." I said. I grabbed my back pack and four Pokeballs and ran towards the doors. "And sleeping is work." I called back as I exited the building. I tossed a Pokeball in front of me and an enormous Dragon type Pokemon emerged before me. The blue and orange dragon roared loudly as I hopped onto its back.

"Skyfire, how have you been?" I asked. He roared again and smiled at me. "That's good, can you take me to the Outer Heavens?" He nodded. I whistled loudly, signaling someone.

Salamence pushed off of the ground and took off at high speeds towards the Outer Heavens. Within a short amount of time, we had arrived at the entrance of the Outer Heavens. Skyfire and I were in awe as we soon the God of this world move past us. It wasn't the first time we had seen this, but if anyone were to see this, they would surely be amazed.

A bright light shone before me as a humanoid shape formed. I saw a small shape for next to it. When it cleared, Smokescreen, my Alakazam, and Shadow, my Houndoom stood before us.

"Shadow, you made it." I smilied as I thanked Smokescreen and put him back into his Pokeball. "Let's go find Ren now." I grumbled as I walked into the heavens. After several long minutes passed by, we had finally come across Ren and her Trainer. I walked over to her and told her what I was told to. She nodded and darted off.

I looked over to the Trainer and noticed that she was in the middle of a battle with an Aerodactyl.

Aerodactyl were truly amazing Pokemon. They had incredible power and speed. This could be a dangerous battle if she wasn't careful.

I hadn't noticed at first, but the Aerodactyl was moving slower than usual. Not only that, the PorygonZ that belonged to the Trainer was moving faster than it normally did.

"Right, looks like Trick Room is in effect." I mumbled. The Trainer hadn't noticed that Ren had left and I was here now. I didn't tell her because she doesn't need any distractions right now. I looked over at my Skyfire. I could tell he wanted to battle, but he controlled himself and eagerly watched the battle.

I could tell that the distortion of time and space was confusing the enraged fossil Pokemon. If anything, it looked as if it just made him even angrier. The PorygonZ launched a Psychic looking attack at the Aerodactyl, who finally realized what was going on, though it was too late to dodge the attack.

The Psychic attack hit it straight on his left wing. I could see that it didn't do much damage, but it was a start. The Aerodactyl knew it couldn't move fast not, so it tried something else.

I heard rumbling behind me and saw blue glowing rocks darting into the air and heading straight for the PorygonZ. It was using a move that was as ancient as it was. I waited to see what the Trainer would do.

Aero surprised me by being able to dodge the Psychic as much as he did, despite the effects of Trick Room. Databyte’s attack struck the pteradon’s left wing, and it seemed to me that just made it all the more enraged. I wasn’t too worried about that, because if angrier it got, the more mistakes it would make. It would also gain berserker strength from that rage, though, which meant we had to get Aero ready to capture before Trick Room ended and the Wild Pokemon had a chance to use its insane speed against us.

After being hit by the Psychic, Aero seemed to realize through its haze of rage that it wouldn’t be landing any physical blows on Databyte as things stood. There came a deep, heavy rumbling, like a massive storm was brewing in the distance, and then many blue-enshrouded rocks came spinning into view. Aero was using an Ancientpower attack, calling up on the ages-old force that its kind had in spades in centuries past. The rocks whirled and spun through the air, unaffected by the Trick Room seeing as they weren’t living creatures. A soft hum rose from Databyte as it processed the new element, no doubt accessing its hard drive and flipping through the thousands of files it had stored in its memory. Even if it came up with a perfect strategy, though, it wouldn’t move unless I ordered it to, and even if its plan was a hundred times better than mine, it would never choose its own ideas over my commands. It was actually somewhat upsetting, because I hated to hinder my Pokemon, but computers never did things they weren’t told to, unless something was wrong with them.

“All right Databyte, Aero’s trying to use its Ancientpower to get around its speed reduction,” I called, getting the P-Z’s attention. “Here’s what we’ll do. Use a Lock-On on those rocks coming at you, then scan the data and use a Conversion 2! Once you’ve done that, try to catch the rocks with a Psychic, then power up an electric blast and use Aero’s own attack against it!”

Databyte beeped once as it straightened and hovered a bit higher in the air. A red glow filled its feral yellow eyes, and just like in the Exorcist, my Pokemon’s head began to spin around. Instead of barfing pea soup everywhere, though, Databyte emitted twin beams of bright red light from its eyes. As its head spun it gained or lost height, finding all the rocks and locking on to their locations. It could then track the path of the rocks using triangulation, a feature its superior processors could handle with ridiculous ease. It took less than a second for Databyte to locate all the rocks and even less time for it to scan the information on them. First, it opened its index and searched for Ancientpower. Afterward, it directly opened the file containing the move’s information. This gave it access to the move’s Type, which was Rock. With that information, Databyte could proceed to the next step of its combo.

Opening a new file, Databyte downloaded an information packet that rearranged its systems, transforming it from the Normal Type to a type that was resistant to Rock moves. Now, if the attack managed to hit it wouldn’t do as much damage. It was a Special move, and Aero weren’t the best when it came to using Special moves, but I wanted to try and reduce or eliminate altogether the amount of damage Databyte took in this battle.

On to the third stage, Databyte lifted its arms, once again going through the process of completing a Psychic attack. Instead of using it offensively, though, Databyte manipulated the swirling ball of Psychic data and spread it into a thin layer, which it stretched out wide enough to catch all the rocks hurtling towards it. When they were close enough, Databyte jerked its arms down, causing the “net” to snap around the stones. A faint shimmer of purple in the Pokemon’s eyes told me it was exerting energy in trying to stop the momentum of the rocks, which had been considerable.

As Databyte attempted to stop the Ancientpower from striking it, it diverted some of its processing abilities to preparing the final move in its combo. Its arms started spinning rapidly in different directions, building up static energy and attracting more from the air around it. As the static started to build up, Databyte added electricity from its own power reserves to what it was gathering, making the growing sphere take on an odd, lime-green hue. Sparks jumped and flew as the orb of electricity became stronger and more condensed, and soon Databyte was almost completely engulfed in a ball of crackling jade electricity. Most of its attention was still focused on stopping Aero’s Ancientpower, though, so it wasn’t too distracted by the intense light all around it.

Now, if the third part of my plan worked, when Databyte released its Zap Cannon, it would snatch up all the stones the P-Z had locked on to seconds before. Then, instead of being fired like normal, Databyte would force it to implode. The force of this “electric blast” would send the stones from Aero’s attack back at it. The number of them meant at least a few of them should hit Aero, but it wasn’t the stones themselves I wanted to attack with. Instead, I wanted to transfer a portion of Zap Cannon’s strength to the stones it would catch; each one would become momentarily saturated with electricity, which would be transferred to Aero if they hit. Zap Cannon itself was too powerful to attack Aero with outright: I didn’t know to know it out, after all. Using this roundabout method of hitting my target with electricity would hopefully deal some decent damage while not being powerful enough to take it out in one hit, which an out-right Zap Cannon would surely do.

“All right Databyte, Aero’s trying to use its Ancientpower to get around its speed reduction,” Saundra called. “Here’s what we’ll do. Use a Lock-On on those rocks coming at you, then scan the data and use a Conversion 2! Once you’ve done that, try to catch the rocks with a Psychic, then power up an electric blast and use Aero’s own attack against it!”

The Trainer was calling out all sorts of attacks, I wondered how the PorygonZ would compute this all. The computer made Pokemon shot a red beam at the rocks. It made a clicking sound as its eyes locked onto the attack. I could see its pink and blue body changing to an metallic silver color.

The rocks were moving fast towards the Porygon. Porygon had its small tubular arms extended out as its body began glowing a deep purple color. It pushed forward as some of the rocks slowed down. It stopped as many rocks as it could, but it still got pelted by them. It was fortunate that it had changed its type. The Porygon made a wide circle with the Ancient Power attack it was controlling as it charged an electrical ball.

I looked over at the Aerodactyl who was charging an attack. I didn't even notice that it was doing that. I had been too focused on the PorygonZ. I looked at both Pokemon, both attacks looked ready to be fired, and I was right.

Aerodactly launched a green and yellow beam at the Porygon. The data Pokemon responded with a burst of electricity which shot the electrical sparked rocks at the flying beast. The beam Aerodactyl had charged shot through the center of Porygon's attack, but neither attacks slowed down, or even seemed to be effected in any way.

The two attacks hit each of the Pokemon, making two small explosions. The Aerodactyl roared with anger through the smoke. It was not yet down. When the smoke cleared off from the Aerodactyl, I could see that it was still trying to gain speed, not knowing that it was just making itself slower, at least until Trick Room ended.

I looked over to the PorygonZ who was just floating there. I was not sure if Aerodactyls move had paralyzed it or not. It had, this could turn out to be a big problem, even with Trick Room still active.

Aero was more cunning than I had anticipated, especially considering its anger. It had used yet another Special Attack to get around the warped dimensions Databyte’s Trick Room had caused, this time a Dragonbreath. Thankfully, Databyte had become the Steel type, so the move didn’t inflict very much damage, but I was more concerned with the possibility of paralysis. Databyte hovered motionlessly while Aero tried and tried some more to regain its slaughtered speed, and for a moment I worried if the computer had been afflicted with the status. I wouldn’t know for sure unless I got the Pokemon moving, though.

“Okay Databyte, you’re doing great so far! Let’s keep at it and wear this guy down some more! Now he’s obviously going to keep using Special moves to attack, so let’s make it harder for him to attack at all! Use Psybeam and follow it with a Protect if Aero manages to attack again!”

Databyte bobbed its head once, and then its eyes began to glow a peculiar shade of mixed purples, reds, and greens. These colors seemed to leach out of Databyte’s eyes, oozing from them like colorful blood, and gathering into a sphere in front of the Pokemon’s slender snout. When the orb was about the size of my fist, the outer side facing Aero abruptly caved in. The sudden vacuum left by the dent in the orb caused the energy to rush to fill it, which it did so violently that a bright beam of sparkling, multi-colored light exploded out of it. The orb literally imploded from the force, giving the beam even more strength as it tore through the air towards Aero, emitting a bizarre squealing noise as it went.

My intent was to confuse Aero with this move, which was formed of condensed Psychic energy. The sound of the beam moving through space, as well as the sudden mental barrage of psychic power, was usually enough to confound your normal Pokemon. I was hoping that Aero’s current level of ire would make it more susceptible to becoming confused. A confused Pokemon had an equal chance of dealing itself damage instead of its foe; if I could count on Aero to damage itself bit by bit over time, that would mean less of a chance for Databyte to be struck by a potentially crippling attack. I’d have to watch the pteradon closely, though, to make sure he didn’t knock himself out from injuring himself too much.

After releasing the Psybeam, Databyte raised its arms and unloaded a mass of blank data between them. This data glinted briefly as it was released, but it quickly lost any and all color, becoming completely translucent. There was an occasional sparkle as light hit a stray bit of semi-solid data here and there, but for the most part it was impossible to tell the Pokemon was ready to instantly defend itself from an attack. Basically, if Aero either managed to avoid becoming confused or, if it did succumb to bemusement, hold on to its wits long enough to properly attack, Databyte would rapidly rewrite the blank data in the air and load a massive amount of defensive data into it, drawing on the information from moves such as Counter, Mirror Coat, and Metal Burst. While the damage from any moves stopped by this form of Protect wouldn’t double back at the enemy, there was always a chance the deflected move might strike the foe or at least clip them. To be completely honest, though, I didn’t want that to happen. Chipping away at Aero’s stamina was my goal, not super-charged attacks that might take it out with one shot.

“Databyte, be sure to ensnare with a Psychic any moves stopped by your Protect, and direct them away from Aero,” I called to my Pokemon, not wanting to take any chances. Databyte beeped once in affirmation, not taking its eyes off Aero in case it missed a crucial moment to react.

Commencing...

“Okay Databyte, you’re doing great so far! Let’s keep at it and wear this guy down some more! Now he’s obviously going to keep using Special moves to attack, so let’s make it harder for him to attack at all! Use Psybeam and follow it with a Protect if Aero manages to attack again!” She called out. The PorygonZ nodded its head in agreement. It created a small reddish, green and purple orb. It wasn't too big, but you could tell that it was powerful.

Out of the orb, came a small beam that shot out surprisingly fast. It hit the raging Aerodactyl on the forehead, almost missing.

The Pterodactyl Pokemon appeared to be dazed. I couldn't tell if it was confused or not, but I did know that it was momentarily baffled, which just angered it more. It roared angrily and dove straight for the ground, slamming hard onto the ground. The rock platform we were on began to shake violently. Shadow, my hell hound, jumped between Saundra and me, throwing up a green barrier that shielded all three of us from the earthquake. Porygon also threw up a barrier. The earthquake didn't hurt any of us. There was however, an after effect. Rocks began falling down all over the battle field. The Porygon tried to stop the rocks, but it couldn't get them all. Some of the rock came plummeting down on it and the Aerodactyl. The Psychic that Porygon did, however, save it from taking the maximum amount of damage that it would've taken.

The Aerodactyl was resting on the ground, trying to catch its breath. From what I could tell, it was still confused.

Aero was clearly furious about being attacked again, and with an angered scream he dove at the ground. He slammed into the platform we were standing on, causing it to shake violently. For a moment I worried that maybe the pillars holding this particular platform up were going to break and send us plummeting towards the ground, but thankfully nothing of the sort happened. However, rocks came raining down shortly after Aero’s improvised Earthquake; most likely they were pieces shaken loose from the platform above us. I eyed the platform higher up with a nervous feeling, but it didn’t seem to be ready to collase on us.

Some of the rocks clipped Databyte, but the Pokemon didn’t seem to fazed by the blows, so I assumed they were minor. Aero, too, was struck by the falling stones, but he either didn’t notice or the rocks didn’t do him enough damage for him to care. He remained on the ground, using the momentarily lull in battle to get a bit of rest. I didn’t like the idea of it possibly getting in a Roost, though, so I quickly went over my options. I could attack it outright, or I could deal indirect damage. I could also risk letting it Roost while I had Databyte heal itself. Or perhaps I could combine several tactics and solve a few problems at once.

“Databyte, here’s the plan,” I called, thinking fast. “We’re going to imprison Aero for a moment so you have some time to recover some Hit Points. Get a Hidden Power and an Ice Beam ready, then mix them with a Psychic and form a net to trap Aero in. Afterward, use Recover to regain some health.”

Databyte easily processed the commands, which another Pokemon might have found difficult, if not downright impossible, to carry out as given. The great thing about a Porygon-Z was they could handle insane amounts of data, giving them the ability to carry out combos no other Pokemon could possibly pull off. Of course, it wasn’t just how well a Pokemon processed data, but its reflexes as well when determining just how efficiently a specific combination of moves could be carried out. Being a super-computer, Databyte probably had the best reflexes of any Pokemon, save possibly a few Fighting types.

The manmade Pokemon spun its arms slowly for a few seconds, gathering stray bits of empty data from its hard drive and memory banks. As these were ejected from Databyte’s body into the air around it, the pieces of data took on a faint yellow shimmer, making it look like Databyte was glowing. The P-Z’s Hidden Power was Electric type, which accounted for the soft sparkle of light. The Hidden Power soon coalesced into several distinct orbs that encircled Databyte, but instead of shooting out in all directions, they simply hovered in place around their creator.

After readying its Hidden Power, Databyte raised its left arm and dropped the right. It then rapidly switched the position of its arms, repeating the motions several dozen times over. The Pokemon’s arms became dark pink blurs, and to the unsuspecting it looked as though it was waving a bit too enthusiastically. What the Pokemon was actually doing, though, was cooling the air and ejecting more blank data into it. As the air became colder and colder, Databyte uploaded the information packet on the Ice type. It was hard to turn blank data into “ice” without some sort of aid, even for Databyte, and so the Pokemon first had to ensure the air was cooled enough to easily freeze.

It took only a second or two for the air in front of Databyte to become painfully chilly, and it was then the Pokemon downloaded the Ice information into the data in the air. The chilled air instantly froze as the data within it was converted to Ice. The newly-formed ice wasn’t in the shape of a beam, however. Instead, it looked like a vertical, crystal-blue slash hanging in the air. This didn’t last long as Databyte made use of another Psychic to break down the Ice Beam, separating the individual bits of data and mingling them into the Hidden Power.

Once all this was done, Databyte ensnared its attack with its Psychic, using it to combine the separate orbs into a single sphere the size of a beach ball. It then flicked its arms a few times, manipulating the orb and spreading it into a thin sheet of yellow shot through with barely-visible blue streaks. The net, now ready, would be wrapped around Aero and closed tightly, providing no escape unless the pteradon somehow broke through by sheer force. Touching the net would give it an unpleasant shock as well as a dose of numbing cold, two things Flying Pokemon were susceptible to. Physically charging through the net would certainly leave the Pokemon stunned; even types not weak to Electric and Ice would be temporarily dazed from getting electrocuted by ice.

Databyte prepared to use its Recover as it maneuvered its net over Aero’s head. It accessed its data banks and opened a file containing things like anti-virus programs and firewalls. Nestled among these files was a self-repair program, one normally used to reboot Databyte in the rare occasions it lagged or crashed. Rebooting took several moments, usually around thirty or forty seconds, but it allowed Databyte to recover lost data, which in this case was actually HP. Once Databyte had trapped Aero with its net, it would perform a warm reboot, restarting its systems and performing various checks. When its check turned up a loss of data in its HP file, it would automatically absorb unused data from other duties and convert it to HP-data, replacing up to half of what was lost. During this process Databyte would literally shut down; it would rest on the ground, its eyes dimmed and appearing to actually be “turned off”. There would be a series of clicks, beeps, and whirrs that usually startled those not expecting it, and within a minute of rebooting, Databyte would be back in business.

It was a risky move, but one I was willing to take to get Databyte back to full health. Thankfully, being Steel-type now would offer it some protection if its net should fail.

“Databyte, here’s the plan,” She called, “We’re going to imprison Aero for a moment so you have some time to recover some Hit Points. Get a Hidden Power and an Ice Beam ready, then mix them with a Psychic and form a net to trap Aero in. Afterward, use Recover to regain some health.” The whole thing seemed like it was too much for any regular Pokémon to perform. Then again, PorygonZ was no ordinary Pokémon. It was a manmade Pokémon who was able to store data inside of it to help it win battles and come up with new strategies.

The database Pokémon began moving its arms in a circular motion around its body as it attempted to gather all the data it could to perform its moves that it was ordered to use. Small yellow orbs formed around its body, rotating slowly.

What it did next was a bit interesting. It continued spinning its arms, but it did so in a different manner. I wasn’t sure what it was doing until I felt a bit of cool air coming from where the PorygonZ was at.

A loud roar distracted me from the Porygon. I looked over to the Aerodactyl who was now glowing a deep purple color. His eyes were bright yellow as he appeared to be moving slower, but not slow enough. Then I realized what it was doing. It hadn’t dropped to the ground to restore health; it had dropped to the ground to calm itself down. It knew that if it kept flying while raged and confused, that it was not going to defend itself well. It was trying to use Curse to make it slower, but no luck so far. It still looked confused, which I knew was going to be a problem.

Another blast of cold air brushed my face as I looked back at the Porygon. I thought it was using Ice Beam, but what I saw was ice particles that the PorygonZ had broken down from Ice Beam. I was amazed at how it used Psychic to meld the Hidden Power attack and the Ice Beam attack together, creating a net that was supposed to cover the Aerodactyl to prevent it from moving.

The net was moved on top of the Aerodactyl, trapping it. The pterodactyl noticed this and just continued using Curse. The PorygonZ began recharging its health, as it did, it shut itself down. I thought this was an extremely risky move to do, but with the next in play, it looked like it would work.

I noticed that the Aerodactyl had yellow, orange, and purple energy circling around it, if it was using what I thought it was using, this could be trouble.

Aero surprised me by forgoing an attempt to heal, instead Cursing itself in order to raise its Attack and Defense. More importantly, it was trying to lower its Speed, something most Pokemon rarely did on purpose unless they were slow to begin with. Aero must have finally realized what was going on and was trying to reduce its Speed in order to be faster than Databyte. What the stone pteradon didn’t know what that Trick Room was about to end, and trying to slow itself down at this point would only work in our favor.

After completing its net and trapping the grounded Aero with it, Databyte lowered to the ground and hung its arms down, somehow balancing on the tips of them and its tail as well. It looked like a bizarre tripod as it whirred softly, then clicked once before its eyes abruptly went dark. There was a few seconds of silence, and then the Pokemon’s eyes flickered a little, taking on a dim glow as it started to whirr and beep. The beeping rapidly grew louder, as did the whirring, though both fluctuated in volume as the seconds ticked by. A strange crackling noise started up about twenty seconds into the reboot, but it didn’t worry me. That was just the sound of Databyte’s systems passively carrying out their data checks. Only a few moments after the crackling started there came a series of ten beeps, with the last one drawn about for about three seconds. The beeping stopped and the whirring got louder; this was Databyte collecting spare data and converting it to HP.

The whirring ended in about five seconds, and Databyte’s eyes flickered again as its systems completed the final stages of rebooting. When its eyes became their normal yellow, Databyte slowly floated back into the air. It accessed a temporary save file that it had backed-up the information of the battle to, uploading its memory. Now fully rebooted, Databyte hummed gently and whirled its arms for a moment, then rotated its head one-hundred and eighty degrees to look at me. I nodded and clapped my hands together, eyeing Aero as it sat on the ground. A swirl of yellow, orange, and purple energy had appeared around the Pokemon in the last several moments; he was preparing a Giga Impact. Databyte, despite having backed-up the data of being Steel-type thanks to its Conversion and thus still being Steel-typed, wouldn’t fare well if struck by such a powerful attack, especially since Aero was in the process of trying to increase its Attack stat.

“Databyte, Aero’s gonna try to use a Giga Impact. The net won’t slow it down much, not after a Curse, so we need to try and stall until your Trick Room wears off. Aero will be slower than you still, at least at first. Use a Protect to defend yourself until Trick Room ends, and then make use of Aero being slower to run an Agile Plot!”

Databyte bobbed its head once before turning to look at Aero, its arms lifting straight up as it readied a second Protect. This time it was an active shield instead of one put on standby, and so the mass of blank data that was released into the air quickly took on a white glare with a lime green edge. The main body of the move was white thanks to the combined data of the moves Databyte mingled to create it; most other Pokemon created a sparkling jade shield for their Protect.

The shield curved around Databyte on both sides, as well as above and beneath it, encasing it in a glowing ivory sphere. The data of the attack was written in a way that it wouldn’t dissipate until it was overwritten by the real energy of another attack, which meant the Protect wouldn’t fade until Aero struck it, either physically or with a Special attack. Inside the shield I couldn’t see what was happening, but I’d seen Databyte use its Agile Plot combo enough to know what was going on.

First, Databyte would dump all the data not being actively used for the battle, and at the same time it would shut down any and all running programs not vital to battling. This would greatly increase the speed of its processors, which would in turn allow it to react faster and improve its Speed in general. Aero was intelligent enough to realize it would still be slower even after Trick Room ended, thanks to its Curse, and I had no doubt it would try to utilize an Agility of its own once it became aware of the fact. With its own Agility in place, Databyte would still be faster and be able to take advantage of any openings Aero might leave when, or if, it tried to gain back its lost Speed.

After that, Databyte would rapidly process dozens of various plans and schemes, going over a multitude of possible attacks and counterattacks. The more it contemplated the numerous possibilities, the darker these ideas would become, and they’d become even more complex as well. All this thinking about Aero’s many potential weaknesses would give Databyte a massive boost in its Special Attack stat as it prepared to utilize its plans. Most people might think a Nasty Plot isn’t the greatest move for a Docile Pokemon like Databyte, who would never act on its own, but it was actually a great move because of that fact. Without the actual motivation to use its own ideas, Databyte wouldn’t risk hurting itself or Aero with any of its more outlandish plots, while at the same time getting the wanted boost.

Of course, your average Trainer might be confused as to why I wanted to increase Databyte’s Special Attack if I wanted to slowly chip away at Aero’s health. The reason was simple enough; Databyte’s Psychic would be much stronger now, capable of doing more than previously allowed. Increasing Special Attack for a single move I wasn’t even using in the normal manner might seem like overkill, but it would help us quite a bit in wearing Aero down enough to be captured.

Aero will be slower than you still, at least at first. Use a Protect to defend yourself until Trick Room ends, and then make use of Aero being slower to run an Agile Plot!” The way she communicated with her Pokémon amazed me. Then again, Porygon-Z was designed to do things normal Pokémon could only imagine doing.

An ivory colored shield surrounded the Porygon-Z as the angry Aerodactyl prepared to break the next with its Giga Impact attack. Whether or not it was going to hit the Porygon-Z with the same attack was still unclear. I assumed that is why Jess told her Pokémon to put the shield up.

I heard sounds coming from within the shield, but my focus was on the Aerodactyl. I saw it crunch down a little and push up with its two clawed feet. It was completely covered in the white and orange energy now, which allowed it to easily break out of the next. I heard it roar a bit, but it didn’t slow down. I could see sparks coming off of its body. It looked like the Aerodactyl had been affected by the net, but it didn’t stop, it slammed down hard onto the shield, cracking it a bit. The flying rock Pokémon stopped in mid air, breathing heavily. It just preformed a big attack, and it also hurt itself in the process.

Areo smashed full force into Databyte’s shield, causing dozens of deep fissures to erupt over the surface of the Protect. It then shattered along these fault lines, blowing outwards in a glittering flurry of white shards. The shards reverted back into pure energy before dissipating entirely. Databyte, now faster and stronger thanks to its Agile Plot combo, hovered soundlessly in midair.

“Okay ‘Byte, let’s start winding this down,” I called to the manmade Pokemon. “Let’s use a TW so we can make Aero less likely to attack, and then use a Signal Beam. But hold back on the power; make it about forty percent of its normal strength.”

Databyte dipped its head once in acknowledgment of its orders before lifting its arms before it. A crackling noise emanated from the P-Z as it released unused electricity from its systems into the air, drawing it into a barely-visible orb of pale yellow electrical current. Once this was about the size of a large grapefruit, Databyte cocked its left arm back and dropped the right. It then swung its left arm forward so quickly the dark, crystal-blue appendage was reduced to a streaking blur. The sphere of electricity was flung towards Aero, moving at an erratic pace as it zigged and zagged through the air.

Its Thunder Wave prepared and released, Databyte started on its next attack. Its systems began a sweep of the area, searching for a wireless signal such as one for wi-fi or a cell phone. I pulled a PDA out of a pocket and flipped it on, and within seconds it had connected with the satellites it got its information from. When it picked up on this connection, Databyte linked up to it. The Pokemon then flicked its tail under its body, holding it horizontally as it lheld its arms out again. Drawing on the information racing through its artificial brain, it converted the signal it was receiving into visible energy. Small translucent orbs of bright green energy began forming at the tips of Databyte’s arms, as well as its tail and snout. These rapidly grew in size, looking like glowing green cantaloupes within a few seconds. Once they reached this size, Databyte fluidly lowered its head and raised its tail while at the same time bringing its arms together. When the four tips of its appendages touched, the four separate orbs fused into a single giant one. From this erupted a beam of twisting green energy that gave off dozens of white sparks.

Despite the intimidating look of the attack, I knew for a fact that this wasn’t nearly the full strength of a Signal Beam at full power. An all-out Signal Beam would normally be nearly three times the size of this one; the fact that Databyte had a Nasty Plot to bolster its Special Attack would have made it even bigger. As it was, the Signal Beam had been weakened enough to do minimal damage to Aero. The fact that its typing made it resistant to Bug attacks four times over would help in making sure only a little bit of damage was done. Aero was getting worn down, after all, and I didn’t want an attack to accidentally knock it out.

“Okay ‘Byte, let’s start winding this down,” Jess called to the Porygon. “Let’s use a TW so we can make Aero less likely to attack, and then use a Signal Beam. But hold back on the power; make it about forty percent of its normal strength.” I looked over at the Aero who was still recharging from its last attack. It was because of that, that was going to make Porygon’s attack work, at least it make it easier.

Lifting its arms, the Normal Pokémon brought out electricity from its body and formed it into a yellowish ball. It was pretty big in size, at least from the Thunder Waves I’ve seen. The electrical ball was shot straight at the Aerodactyl, hitting it directly on its chest. The rock pterodactyl roared loudly. The charge from the electrical attack hurt it a little, but also gave it the small shock it needed to be able to move again, which was ironic because Thunder Wave was supposed to do the exact opposite. It fell to the ground, slamming hard in the earth but not hard enough to cause a tremor. Aerodactyl slowly got up. It tried to flap its wings, but every time he flapped them, a shock a electrical energy shocked him a bit. He arched his hard back and roared loudly. I could see white particles forming in his mouth.

I hadn’t noticed, but Porygon had formed a greenish orb that it was preparing to launch at the Aerodactyl. Both Pokémon launched their attacks simultaneously. The beams collided with each other, forming a small orb in the center of the field that was growing bigger and bigger by the second. Aerodactyl was using Hyper Beam, but its attack was extremely weak. For one, it wasn’t that good at using special attacks, and two, it was already really tired from battling. His Hyper Beam attack could barely hold off a Signal Beam, even if it was from a Porygon who had upped its special attack. The orb exploded in the center of the field. The force from the explosion almost knocked me off of my feet. Dirt was blown everywhere; it was hard to see anything.

I heard two loud cracking sounds coming from both my right side and my left side. I quickly looked up and saw two of the pillars were about to fall on the battle field where the Aero and Porygon were.

“Quick Smokescreen, Mindbender, yours Psychic and knock those two pillars away from the battle field. A dark blue ball from my waist shook violently as a green humanoid Pokémon shot out. Both Alakazam and Gardevoir were powerful Psychic Pokémon, so I knew they could easily do it. Mindbender firmly placed both of her feet on the ground as her eyes began to glow. She raised her hands and pushed the pillar the other way, causing it to fall the other way. Smokescreen did the same with the other pillar.

The dust was clearing from the battle field. The Aerodactyl looked dead tired; I didn’t know how much more it could take.

For a long moment I stared at my Ranger’s Psychic Pokemon, using their mental abilities to keep the pillars holding the next platform above us from falling. Since it was partially my fault the damage had been done I decided to offer my help in repairing the pillars, but for now it was something that I couldn’t focus on. Turning back to the battlefield, I saw Aero looking fatigued and close to his limit. It wouldn’t be too long before he would just up and collapse, but as it was now, his primal strength would probably let him easily break out of even a Hyper Ball. I needed to drain most, but not all, of Aero’s final energy burst, which would be coming soon. It just needed a bit more prodding.

“Databyte, we’re going to switch to NVE Strategy seven-point-fifteen,” I called. “Reduce energy output to five percent.” Databyte hummed gently to show it heard and was ready to carry out the plan.

An NVE Strategy literally stood for Not Very Effective Strategy. The number series after this noted which types to take into mind. Using the official PokeDex list, the Flying and Rock types were numbers seven and fifteen, respectively. Thus, the Not Very Effective Strategy would be for a dual Flying/Rock typed Pokemon, namely Aerodactly. The NVE Strategy allowed Databyte to temporarily delete any effective or neutral-damage attacks move its movelist, leaving only the moves that would deal not-very effective damage against one or both of Aero’s types, as well as status- and stat-affecting moves.. Then it would string together a series of attacks from this shortened movelist, depending entirely on its own intelligence. While this strategy was implemented I would give no orders, lest I confuse my Pokemon. The only order I would give would be “Cancel NVE Strategy” or “Resume previous battle mode”. Both of those would make Databyte instantly exit the NVE Strategy program and restore its movelist to its normal length, ready to follow my commands once more.

Databyte initiated its NVE Strategy, and the first thing it did afterward was scan Aero for vital information. Once it had gathered information on the Wild Pokemon’s state of health, and keeping in mind my command of reducing the strength of all attacks to only five percent, the Porygon-Z began battling by itself. With its Nasty Plot in effect from earlier it would be able to come up with the most efficient plans in ensuring Aero was weakened as much as possible without being knocked out.

First, the Pokemon raised its tail and lowered its head, bringing its arms together again; it was the same position it had assumed to fire its Signal Beam moments ago. Instead of attacking, though, Databyte was converting some spare bits of data into Steel data, layering this on the outer surface of its body. Its improvised Defense Curl increased its Defense, making it more likely Aero would take damage from powerful physical moves while Databyte itself took less damage. A faint metallic silver sheen encased the Pokemon’s body, making it shine somewhat harshly when light struck the contours of its body.

Next, Databyte flipped itself so its back was parallel with the ground and it was facing up. Still linked via my phone, Databyte prepared and fired a much weaker Signal Beam. The thin beam only went about ten feet into the air before reaching its limit; it then arched and fell back towards the ground, specifically at Aero. As the beam plummeted it split into several smaller beams, creating a sparkling jade cage that made a slight whistling noise as it fell.

After this, Databyte lifted its head but kept its tail and arms touching. A white sphere of energy began to grow in front of the touching appendages, though within a few seconds the white changed to swirls of blue, red, and yellow. These three colors separated as the orb spun faster, until a single color floated in front of Databyte’s arms and tail. Before the left arm was a blue sphere, before the right arm was a red one, and before the tail was a yellow one. Narrow streams of crackling, multicolored energy connected the three orbs, which were each roughly the size of a softball.

The attack, resembling a tri-colored pyramid with the tip pointing down, began to rotate through the air. It spun so fast that the colors blurred together and some of the energy was actually thrown from the main attack. Despite spinning so quickly it obviously grew smaller as Databyte adjusted the strength of its Tri-Attack. Once it was about a third of its previous size, Databyte fired the attack, aiming it low at Aero’s belly. The Tri-Attack was intended to wind the Pokemon, not do much damage; the Signal Beam’s main purpose was to distract Aero and keep it too busy dodging the multiple beams to try and evade the Tri-Attack as well.

“Databyte, we’re going to switch to NVE Strategy seven-point-fifteen,” Jess called. “Reduce energy output to five percent.” The Porygon instantly began processing what his trainer called out. It was upping its defenses from what I could tell. The silver coat it had was glowing brighter. I knew this would help it from taking too much damage from Aerodactyl’s attack.

I looked over at the Aero, it was still recharging from its last attack. It looked pretty beat up, but what really shocked me was the fact that it also still looked like it could keep going. It was definitely a strong fighter; I knew that from the Aero I had caught a while back. What I was worried about was that it would push itself too hard and cause itself to faint. I for sure didn’t want that to happen, especially not after how much effort this Trainer had put into capturing it. I turned my attention back to the Porygon who had already shot another beam into the air, which was directly approve the Aero. The beam split into several smaller ones, creating a small cage. I knew for sure that was not going to hold the Aero, but I watched to see what else it would do.

It begun creating a small orb of energy that slowly began to gain color as it grew. After several seconds, the colors had separated and rejoined, creating a large sphere of colorful energy. This was one of Porygons strongest moves in my opinion. It combined three elements into one beam, two of which were super effective against Aero, Ice and Electric. The Porygon shot the beam at Aerodactyl, barely hitting it on its side. I saw sparks of electricity surround the flying rock Pokémon as it tried to move again. The prehistoric Pokémon closed its eyes and began glowing a bright white color.

Outer Heaven​

Normally, if a Pokemon I was after tried to heal itself I would do everything in my power to prevent that, especially if I’d spent as much time wearing it down as I had Aero. As it was, Aero was simply too weak to go on at this rate, even with Databyte holding back most of its power. I’d need to try and get it down to its last dregs of strength in one go. It was so close to fainting now that even the slow chipping we were doing to its flagging health might be enough to knock it out.

Databyte was already ahead of me, though. It understood the situation maybe even better than I did, and instead of attacking Aero in its moment of vulnerability, the P-Z instead focused its bright yellow eyes on its foe. A red shimmer started to spread from its pupils, soon overcoming the natural yellow hue of it eyes. It looked eerie when Databyte used its Lock-On attack, like it was turning evil or something. The first few times it had done it had made me uneasy, but now it didn’t bother me at all.

Databyte tracked Aero’s every moment for a second, then steadied its gaze as the crimson glow funneled into two beams, one for each eye. These beams shot towards Aero’s chest, not meant to hurt, but simply to focus all of Databyte’s considerable attention on the pteradon. Its intent to watch Aero would be so keen that nothing the stone-bodied Pokemon could do would shake Databyte’s attention. It’s focus would only let up once it had finished whatever it was planning.

Next, the manmade Pokemon started channeling energy from itself and the air around it, drawing power from the static electricity created from its various Electric moves over the past several minutes. As the energy passed through Databyte and was ejected again, it took on the form of a glittering, multi-colored sphere that hovered about a foot away from the supercomputer. The was raw, condensed energy, and Databyte only gathered enough to form a ball roughly the size of a tennis ball. There was quite a bit of power packed into that tiny orb, though. Even at only five percent power, Databyte’s Hyper Beam could take a fair chunk out of Aero’s health.

Luckily, during this time Aero had had some time to recover a bit of HP. Perhaps not as much as the Roost could normally restore, but enough that a weakened Hyper Beam wouldn’t be enough of a risk to knock it out. In fact, there was a good chance it wouldn’t even knock Aero back down into the red. But Databyte surprised me with its next move, and once again I was reminded that we were two entirely different entities with entirely different ways of thinking.

When Databyte fired its Hyper Beam, the attack went a bit wide to the left of Aero’s head. It looked like a near-hit, which should have been impossible because of Databyte’s previous Lock-On. Moments after passing its intended target, though, the beam suddenly split down the middle into six smaller tendrils, which looped back around. None of these hit Aero; instead, the sparkling, popping mini Hyper Beams whipped and snaked around the Pokemon like brilliantly-colored serpents.

It took me a second to realize what was going on. Databyte, it seemed, had not deleted all of its super-effective and neutral-damage moves when initiating the NVE Strategy. It appeared to have kept Psychic in its data banks, not to use as an outright offensive move, but more like a passive one to bolster its attacks. Still, it was a bit disconcerting that the move had remained. Being Docile Natured meant Databyte always followed every command to the letter. Then again, it also had a much higher level of thinking than I did, and it was possible that it had found a loophole in my orders. After all, I had never said anything like, “Delete all moves unless they are somehow useful to the NVE Strategy” or the like.

That explanation left me feeling better about the situation and glad that Databyte wasn’t going rogue on me. Not that I would have been against a bit of deviation from the norm, but such a thing was pretty much unheard of from my P-Z and would have been a bit troubling.

It became obvious that Databyte’s Lock-On and Hyper Beam were simple distractions, meant to allow Aero to regain some health while preventing it from getting too much. It also refrained from instantly beating that energy right back out of the pteradon, waiting instead to see how the current situation would play out before deciding what moves would be best. As the red glow faded from its eyes and the Hyper Beams exploded around its head and wings, I called out to the P-Z.

“Exit NVE Strategy,” I said, and immediately the Pokemon fell still. It beeped once to acknowledge it was ready to receive outside orders again, and I nodded once. Aero might not have gained the full effect of its Roost, but even if it got back only twenty-five or thirty percent of its HP back, the NVE Strategy wouldn’t do us much good now. We had to work and see if we couldn’t get it down to single-digits in terms of health, and try to do it in only one or two hits. Anything less would only put us back in this position, anything more might be overkill.

“Databyte, keep power output reduced to five percent!” I ordered, having an idea of how to take down Aero enough to capture, but not so much that it would up and faint on us. “Before this next attack be sure to scan Aero’s status and lower power further if needed.”

“Exit NVE Strategy,” Saundra finally said after moments of thinking about the battle I assumed. “Databyte, keep power output reduced to five percent!” she ordered, ”Before this next attack be sure to scan Aero’s status and lower power further if needed.”
I knew the time of capture was nearly upon us. I watched the Aero regain health, but only to see PorygonZ take it back. The PorygonZ locked onto the Aerodactyl and fired a weak Hyper Beam attack at the Pterodactyl, however, the beams didn’t hit the flying rock beast. Instead, they circled it. The Aerodactyl knew it would have very little energy if it got hit by the attack, but it also knew that it was targeted by lock on and that it would be futile to dodge the attack so it kept restoring as much energy as it could.

The PorygonZ’s eyes stopped glowing and the beams detonated, doing some damage to the Aerodactyl. I saw that the Porygon couldn’t move, which was normal after using Hyper Beam. The Aero noticed this too and tried to attack, but it was too tired to move, and on top of that, it looked like the paralysis kicked in. I noticed that the area appeared to go back to normal which meant the Trick Room had ended.

Outer Heaven​

It was coming to a close. I could tell Aero was on his last leg, even though Databyte’s Hyper Beam hadn’t been meant to cause the damage it did. Maybe I had underestimated how much strength Aero had left, or maybe a computational error on Databyte’s part caused one of the beams to explode too close to Aero. Whatever had happened, the stone-pteradon didn’t have nearly as much HP left as I’d thought it would, so there really wasn’t much else to be done. It was probably about as weak as it was going to get without being knocked out.

All the same, I knew that a creature usually showed its truest strength when it was backed into a corner, and the same was probably true for Aero. Right now, when one would expect it to be at its easiest to catch, it would most likely prove to be extremely hard to capture. I needed to try and draw out its last reserves of strength before wasting time trying to catch it. I needed to do this without causing any further damage to the Pokemon’s flagging HP, though. No more damage-dealing attacks from now on, then. I had to rely on more evasive tactics to wear Aero down rest of the way.

“Databyte, come here for a moment,” I called, and the manmade Pokemon floated over to hover near my head. “Listen, I want you to do a bit of complicated, computing, okay?” Dayabyte beeped once in response, understanding my words. “Complicated computing” meant a combo made up of four or more moves, and after a moment Databyte gave another beep, signaling it was ready for its orders. It had diverted a large chunk of its data processing abilities to memorizing whatever it was about to be told, ensuring maximum efficiency when it went to carry out its attacks.

“All right, here’s the deal,” I continued, pitching my voice low so Aero wouldn’t hear me words. If he did, that would ruin the whole ploy. “We need to finish wearing Aero out, but without causing any more damage. So here’s the plan. I want you to use Agility again, as fast as you can make it. You don’t know Double Team, so if you can create afterimages with Agility that’ll work just as well. Then use Sharpen to make yourself look more intimidating. If it looks like Aero might injure himself by attacking you, it’ll hopefully prevent him from doing anything that might hurt him, like Double-Edge. Then use Lock-On; with any luck, Aero will spend time and energy trying to avoid it. Finally, use Psychic, but not to attack! I want you to fool Aero into thinking you’re using some massive attack on it, like a super-charged Zap Cannon. You can create a bit of harmless static electricity and use Psychic to make it look more stronger and more dangerous than it is. Just don’t hit Aero with anything; let it stay ahead of the “attack” so it wears itself out, okay? Try to keep your Agility up the whole time if you can. If not, try to at least hold it until after you’ve started the illusion of attacking.”

Databyte was silent as it processed all this, then it nodded its head once. I smiled and flashed a thumbs-up at my Pokemon, then waved in a shooing gesture. Databyte turned and floated several feet away, then suddenly blinked from view. It appeared a few times but vanished almost immediately afterward, sometimes seeming to disappear before fully coming into focus. Then, after less than two seconds, several Porygon-Z phased into view, each of them moving in different directions for several seconds before fading away, only to be replaced by more ghostly images.

At the same time, Databyte emitted red beams from its eyes again. These seemed to flicker in and out of sight along with Databyte and his speed-induced clones, but every time they came back into view, the red beams unfailingly remained fixed on Aero. Eventually the beams reduced to pinpoints of red light that jumped and darted around Aero’s body, attempting to disorient it and make it try to flee in all directions at once.

Then I noticed the twenty or so Pory-Z began to take on a more angular appearance. All the smooth lines were becoming sharp and pointed, giving the Pokemon a blocky, ungainly look. Their horns became long, tapering weapons that looked capable of punching through solid steel, and their arms took on the appearance of baby-blue swords. Their tails, too, looked more like deadly blades than limbs. In order to achieve this effect, Databyte had compressed data from its body, reducing its mass along the edges of its body and making them sharp. I had one time attempted to hug the Pokemon while in its Sharpened state, only to get nasty cuts on both arms that had required stitches to close, so I knew from personal experience that this wasn’t just an illusion of sharpness.

Finally, Databyte moved on to the final stage of its combo. It whirled its arms as it spun and darted around Aero, constantly coming in and out of sight as its copies did the same. A weak spark formed in the spaces between Databyte’s arms and body, and a brief flash of lavender light in the eyes of all the Pory-Z signaled the beginning of a Psychic. Instead of using it to attack with directly, Databyte instead used the Psychic influence it was radiating to create an illusion. Using Psychic, it caught the sparks it had generated and caused them to grow to gargantuan levels. In just the span of a heartbeat, twenty-some orbs of sizzling yellow electricity as big as myself blasted into view. Aero was surrounded by these deadly-looking attacks; Databyte went as far as to arch over Aero and give the illusion of attacking from above as well as from all sides. With a cry sounding like a shrill alarm going off, Databyte “fired” its attack and its clones followed suit, flinging massive yet fake attacks at Aero and, hopefully, driving it into a frenzy to avoid the multiple attacks. As the attacks were loosed, Databyte used its Psychic to ensure there were also gaps for Aero to flee through, but that it wouldn’t actually have a chance to try and escape altogether.

This seemed all to complicated for any Pokemon to handle. Luckily for her, PorygonZ wasn't just any Pokemon. That Pokemon was designed for this kind of stuff. I just watched and waited to see how it was going to react.

The PorygonZ turned towards the Aerodactyl, who had managed to regain some health from the Roost attack. The Aerodactyl was still grounded from Roost and paralysis, so it wasn't going to be moving very fast, unlike the PorygonZ who had begin its complicated task. It began moving around the area it was in at a very fast pace, all I could see was a blue and pinkish blur. The plan so far had been going as planned. The PorygonZ was moving so fast, it looked as if it were creating duplicates of itself. I could tell it was using Sharpen, because it was glowing white, and the two wing-like arms turned into sword-like arms.

The Computer Pokemon then sent off two red laser beams from its eyes and tried to lock on to the Aerodactyl who threw up a small shield as it attepmted to dive out of the way. It knew the affects of being locked on. PorygonZ then began using its Psychic and Discharge combo. It was quickly surrounded by small sparks of electricity. The sparks didn't stay small for long, the Psychic attack allowed the electricity to expand and make it look as if it were growing. I could see the Aerodactyl growing concerned as it desperatly tried to get off the ground. It was using all of its energy to get into the sky and away from this attack.

"Vaporeon!"

My Vaporeon, or Mimi, as I called her, hissed at my Togetic, Momo. Apparently, I was taking Momo on a run instead of Mimi. She was snarling at the prospect of it. After all, most Pokemon love the sight of the Outer Heavens- unless the Pokemon is afraid of heights.

"Mimi, be reasonable. Momo can fly. In that area, almost everything has to be accessed in the air. You can't be selfish." I reminded Mimi. Still, she had a hot temper and her stubbornness was at god-like levels. Momo tried to cheer up Mimi, but the vicious and hasty water Pokemon snapped at Momo, growling harshly. I sighed. My two Pokemon can't get along. Maybe it was better if my friend didn't send the egg to me on Christmas. Momo's fast evolution from Togepi to Togetic made Mimi jealous. She didn't want anyone 'stealing' my attention from her.

"Come on, Momo." I removed the Pokeball from my neck, the Pokeball that was Mimi's. The moment I did she groaned again. I silently attached Momo's Pokeball to the necklace, before summoning Momo inside. The normally Jolly Momo was now a tiny bit sulky, being unable to cheer up Mimi since he has met her.

I stepped out of the ranger post, putting Mimi's Pokeball on the table. "Wait for me to come back, Mimi." I said. My Pokemon's impatience was legendary, and if she run off looking for me it won't be good. I immediately grabbed the Pokeball and summoned Mimi inside, shocking her greatly. I knew sometimes she busted out of the Pokeball, but only at the moment she was summoned in. So, if I surprised her, she couldn't get out.

I proceeded towards the teleporter, radiating a blue, shining light. It worked in a strange way. I simply stepped in, and said my coordinates, and it would send me there. It was a feat in technology I didn't understand, but eh. It worked, so I wasn't afraid of it.

"Over to Outer Heaven." I said, and in a whizz and a whur I ended up in the magnificent Outer Heaven.
