Main RP: Outer Heaven

I was rushing through Meteor Valley, trying to make it to the Outer Heavens before nine. I had missed the first boat ride here, which meant I had to fly here on Skyfire, which wasn't a problem since I was probably going to be flying the whole time. So far, this morning wasn't going as planned. I could only hope my park run would be much more exciting. Shadow had refused to travel over the ocean with me on Skyfire, so I had to get Mindbender to teleport him over to the park. Mindbender and him should already be there waiting. I suppose I could've done the same thing, but I wanted to get Skyfire a chance to stretch his wings before our park run began.

"Come on back out Skyfire, I need your assistance again." I said, tossing a black and red Pokeball in front of me. I was already more than halfway through Meteor Valley, seeing many Pokemon that interested me, but I couldn't stop to battle them since that was not the area I had signed up for. A large Dragon Pokemon emerged from the ball. Skyfire wasn't like most Salamence, at least not in color. Most of his body was all black, everything except for his blood red wings. Skyfire roared loudly, making sure his presense was known. "Ready for ths boy?" I said, rubbing his head. I knew he was ready to show his power to any Pokemon I encountered on my run. He nodded quickly and lowered his back. I hopped on and he took off.

It took us twenty minutes to get there, mainly because we were enjoying the scene. Once we arrived, I found Mindbender and Shadow waiting for us. Shadow quickly made his way to my side, like he always did.

"So now we wait." I said, happy that I wasn't late. "Just gotta wait for Siless and our Ranger to arrive." ​

Outer Heaven​

While Databyte was setting up its combo, Aero took the momentarily lull in action to set up another Roost. I couldn't help but smile a bit, impressed with the Pokemon's determination. I didn't know if he was just stubborn and wanted to drive us away or if he was after something else, but at least he wasn't trying to run away as I'd been worried he might.

When Databyte launched the mock Zap Cannons, Aero tried his best to avoid the attacks. Databyte, clever Pokemon it was, made each Zap Cannon just barely miss Aero every time the Pokemon attempted a dodge. The way it did it made it seem as though Aero himself were evading the attacks. So far my plan was working well, but now that Aero had a bit more energy back, it was going to take more than this ruse to wear him back down.

"Databyte, great job!" I praised, making sure the manmade Pokemon knew how happy with its performance I was. "Now let the Zap Cannon go, then try for a Cold Snap! If it works we'll be able to wear Aero down a bit more before catching it." Instantly the faux Zap Cannons fizzled out of existence, though one directly in front of Aero appeared to explode. It wouldn't do any damage since it was just an illusion, a ruse to startle Aero and hopefully keep him from acting for a moment.

Databyte now began gathering stray packets of data from its systems coverting them to the Ice type and ejecting them into the air in front of it. This data was a bright crystal-blue in color and quickly formed into a sphere about the size of a honeydew melon. From this central orb, six thin tendrils suddenly whipped out. These lashed out towards Aero, but instead of striking him, they simply arched around him without touching him, three beams on each side. The beams converged behind him, meaning the only way to get out of the cage of sorts was to go over it. Aero was having a hard time getting into the air, though, so I doubted he would be getting free just yet, unless it tried to simply run through the ice.

Once Aero was "caught" so to speak, Databyte pumped more data into the ice ball, dumping a massive amount from its main processors. This would temporarily limit its strength, which actually worked to my advantage. After all, Ice moves would be extra-powerful against Aero, thanks to its half-Flying type. On top of Databyte's earlier Nasty Plot, the modified Ice Beam would easily KO Aero if things went wrong. As it was, since Databyte had, for the time being, sacrificed much of its processing capabilities, the reduction of its strength was a good thing.

With its processing abilities slashed, Databyte's increased Speed also dropped. Its copies faded as it slowed down, coming to a stop a second later. Now stationary and with a giant sphere of ice the size of a large watermelon between its arms, Databyte sent most of the ice down the six thin vines of it around Aero. The beams abruptly increased in size to nearly three times their original mass. Controlling every aspect of the ice, Databyte now directed the numbing chill from the beams inward, all of it aimed at Aero. The sudden, centralized focus of the cold would, if things went as planned, cause a rapid covering of ice to encase Aero, Freezing it just enough to make it easier to catch without causing any harm.

On top of that, if Aero was Frozen, Databyte would be able to safely whittle down his health without worrying about Aero retaliating in a way that would make him hurt himself. The coating of ice would also absorb some of the damage dealt, adding another literal layer of protection against accidentally knocking the stone pteradon out.

I thought the ship would be a great way to get to the Outer Heavens; it wouldn't take too long since it was only a short distance from the dock, but it would give enough time for Tear to stretch her wings. What I didn't factor in was the playful Wailmer that drenched me with a surprisingly large Water Gun...

As I finished up my failed search for a towel, I saw a figure flying over to the Outer Heavens from the land of Meteor Valley; I figured it could've been either my partner Cameron or my ranger, whom I hadn't met. As I watched the flying figure, I realized how close we were to our destination. Soon, we would been able to dock and our run would begin.

The Wailmer that drenched me came back for more fun, brushing lightly against the boat and beginning to shoot water at the crew. A member of the crew told me they know this Wailmer, and this playing would probably leave us stuck for a while, but that I could leave on one of my Pokémon since we were so close. My first choice would've been to stay and play a bit, but I wasn't sure how much time I had to get to my run. I called Tear down from her warm-up flight, boarded her, thanked the crew of the ship, and set out for the Outer Heavens.

It didn't take too long for me to get there, and, though I had been told about Cameron's Pokémon (and having a couple added to my team, as well), I wasn't fully prepared for what I saw. Cameron was waiting with his Houndoom by his side, but he also had a Gardevoir and a Salamence out; what surprised me was that these two Pokémon seemed to share the Houndoom's dark coloring. I had been aware that Pokémon could have alternate colorings, but this was one of the first times I saw them..

As I landed, I let my own Gardevoir, Sela, out of her ball for some fresh air. I approached Cameron, introduced him to my two Pokémon (for the first time outside the battlefield), and joined him in waiting for our ranger.

"This is my first adventure in a while. Recently, I've been training near home, so this should mix it up nicely." I wasn't aware of how long it would be until the run started... couldn't hurt to strike up a conversation, could it?

 

I noticed a red-and-black Salamence approaching from a distance, with a man humped on its back. Two Pokemon, a Houndoom and a Gardevoir- all the same color scheme- ran out from behind the Ranger Post where I couldn't see them, surprising me. Before he arrived, however, I also saw a dot approaching. As soon as the Salamence landed, I could see that the 'dot' was in fact a trainer riding on a Dragonite. Within a few minutes the large, orange Pokemon landed near us.

"Hello. You are... Cameron, right? And you are Siless? My name is Timpeni, I'm your trainer today." I asked. At the sight of all the new Pokemon, Momo forced himself out of the ball. The large size of most of the new Pokemon did not bother him; somehow he knew these Pokemon won't hurt him. From its body came small, sparkling feathers. I recognized these as 'Joy dust', which Momo shed in front of kindhearted people and Pokemon. It had some sort of happiness effect on the livings things around it.

"Congrats! Looks like Momo- this Togetic- thinks you and your Pokemon are kindhearted." I said to the duo. I looked at the watch on my wrist and jumped. We needed to get in fast- if not, we might collide into the visitor train coming in, and the visitor train's driver was known for his haphazardness. It's a wonder why he hasn't gotten fired yet...

"Okay, let's go in. We have got to, or else we risk colliding with a visitor train. Come on." I said, and the duo followed me as we entered a large, looming gate, plants of all kinds behind it.

The gate had some sort of protecting force around it; it didn't let any poached Pokemon, not approved by a Ranger to fly out. As soon as we stepped through the gate, we felt a shiver as a strange, cold 'zap' sensation went through us. We were now in the Pokemon's land. Anything could happen here.

Suddenly, I heard a 'Chatot' sound and discovered that in front of Cameron was a Chatot, blocking his path, like it was looking for a Pokemon battle. Then, a flutter of wings disturbed me, and a Swellow stood high above, looking down at Siless cautiously.

"Would you like to battle these Pokemon?" I asked Cameron and Siless.

"Hello. You are... Cameron, right? And you are Siless? My name is Timpeni, I'm your trainer today." She said. I assumed she meant Ranger, but I didn't say anything.

"That's right, I'm Cameron." I said, calling Mindbender back to her Pokeball. Then, one of the Rangers Pokemon

"Okay, let's go in. We have got to, or else we risk colliding with a visitor train. Come on." She said, as she began moving to two large gates. I quickly followed her, trying to mask my eagerness.

It wasn't long before two Pokemon had found us. A small Chatot and Swellow stood in front of us. I pulled out one of my Pokeballs, ready to battle them if Siless wanted to, I however wasn't interested in them.

 

After introductions were out of the way, we started our run. The protective gate sent a slight jolt through me, though it was so small I may not have been aware of it had I not been warned. The air past the gate felt safer, though.

"Chatot!" We quickly found the first Pokémon in our run, though it was unusual to find a single Pokémon approach a larger group like this. When I heard the flapping of wings, I realized that it had support from the sky; I looked up to find a Swellow staring at me.

"I'd rather not have this battle.." I took a look to Cameron; he seemed ready, but looked hesitant as well. I figured he probably didn't want any of these at the moment, and unnecessary battles would wear down both of our Pokémon before we found anything we really wanted. "Maybe they'll just let us pass.. If they won't let us by, Sela can usually persuade them not to attack.

And if not... I guess we're ready for them?"

 

"I'd rather not have this battle.." Siless said. I looked at Cameron, who seemed hesitant to battle. I squatted down to the Chatot and talked to it.

"Sorry Hirmi, you can't get captured or battle today. Maybe you can try next time?" I said to the Chatot. The Chatot always appeared when I led visitors and trainers through Outer Heaven. The Chatot nodded before flying off. The Swellow simply watched cautiously as we walked away, before averting back to its usual business.

For sometime, nothing interesting happened. I heard many sounds but all the Pokemon were hidden away. Momo seemed to be talking to trees, but I knew he was talking to hidden Pokemon. Then, suddenly, Momo looked to the skies, before yelling out. I was shocked by Momo's sudden action, but then, a metallic flash appeared before a Pokemon dove headfirst into the ground in front of Cameron, only to get its beak stuck in the ground. I looked at the too-excited Skamory and the shocked look on Cameron's face.

I looked up and seemed to see a cloud descending, but on closer inspection I saw it was a Swablu. It went up to the Skamory and tried to pull it out of the ground. I joined in, as well as Momo, and soon, Skamory was forced out, with the back force making me fall to the ground. Skamory snapped out of its shocked state and looked at Cameron, awaiting a battle. The Swablu sighed, before going up to Siless for a battle too.

"You two want to battle these Pokemon?" I said.

I looked over the pair of Pokémon staring us down; after the rather humorous introduction, they seem to have gotten more serious. Both seemed eager for battle, and I'd be perfectly willing to have both; of course, I'd need to let Cameron have his choice too.

"Alright, pick whichever one you want, Cameron, but I'd like to battle." I honestly didn't care which one he picked, as both were equally appealing to me. They'd already seemed to have chosen their opponents, but we could force them to mix it up during the battle, if necessary.

I motioned for Sela to take the field; the Gardevoir was easily my key Pokémon in battles, even more so when I couldn't wait and fully heal up my Pokémon between battles, thanks to her Wishes. She focused on her opponents as she stepped forward; she takes an ability from her opponent during battles, but if there's more than one, she can't pick which one she takes it from, and I usually can't tell which one she takes until a round of moves occur.

"Sela, set up a Reflect and Taunt whatever foe Cameron doesn't go after." The Taunt would hopefully draw the attacks of whatever Pokémon that Cameron's wasn't dealing with, keeping them from double teaming it, but also would keep the target from using its status moves; Skarmory was known for its Agility, while Swablu had a voice that could put a target to sleep or knock it out entirely. Reflect should reduce the damage from most of their attacks, and Sela wouldn't be restricted in her choices while behind it; even though she'd lose its benefit if she moved out from behind it, she could attack easily without having to move, and so would only have to move to evade blows.

I brushed the strategy from my mind; it was a simple startup to allow Cameron to control his side of the battle as he wanted, so I could just set up my side and not worry about it when things had to change. I turned to my partner trainer. "Time to have some fun?"

 

Finally something interesyting showed up. Two of the three Pokemon I had come here for, were right here in front of me. Swablu, Skarmory, and Drifloon were he ones I wanted, and now I was lucky enough to have a Skarmory show up and battle me. Swablu was also here, but I knew I wanted Skarmory first, since it was already willing to battle us, the choice was just that much easier.

"Alright, pick whichever one you want, Cameron, but I'd like to battle." Siless said clearly. He tossed out a Pokeball, sending out an elegant Gardevoir named Sela. "Sela, set up a Reflect and Taunt whatever foe Cameron doesn't go after." I looked at him, then turned my attention to Skarmory. I had already chosen it. I brought out a red and black Pokeball and tossed it besides me. A quick white light flashed and a black and red spiked dog stood next to me. Hotshot and Shadow were similar in body form.

"Hotshot, let's slow them both with Thunder Wave." I called out. I didn't want to full out attact the Skarmory yet, not without seeing how it worked. Hot shot began forming a small blue and yellow electrical ball. When it was big enough, he launched it at Skarmory, rapidly forming and sending one at the Swablu. Hotshot was pretty fast, so if I wanted to use a physical attack, it was going to have to be fast while he was in range. I was going to try a long ranged special attack next.

 

Both trainers agreed to fight the Swablu and Skamory. Siless released her Gardevoir, named Sela, to fight against whatever Pokemon Cameron didn't choose to fight. She yelled a command somewhere along the lines of reflect. Something shined like a mirror in front of the Gardevoir and it disappeared immediately, to avoid the Swablu from realizing it was there.

Cameron called out a red-and-black Manectric he called Hotshot. I shuddered when I remembered the time a Manectric almost tore me to pieces when I was guiding a trainer through the Abandoned Power Plant. I had some sort of thing against electric Pokemon, so it'll be a long time before I add one to my team.

A ball of electricity raced from the mouth of Hotshot and went up Skamory's body, who was currently too busy scanning Hotshot's body for weak spots to notice it. The metallic nature of Skamory's body contributed to the attack, and it so read quickly, shocking Skamory. Bits of white-hot electricity jumped from its now stiff body, and its muscles locked up. When the Skamory tried to move, it simply leaned to one side and fell over, causing something like a concussion.

Over at Siless, Sela was taunting the Swablu with words I didn't understand, but Swablu- and by the looks of it, Momo too- took severe offense to it. The Swablu was blinded by its anger, and now confused by itself. A red miasma formed around its vision as it prepared for its signature move, and I noticed it also seemed to be flying off balance. It went right behind a tree and readied itself.

Swablu was not a normal Flying-Pokemon. It knew moves no Pokemon here has seen or even knew about. The blue bird Pokemon looked cute with its tiny blue body and cloud-like wings, but this one was a cute little bird that bites. The Swablu flapped its wing extra-hard, and a strong, small tornado formed. The leaves of the tree were pulled off, though the twister was not strong enough to pull up the tree bark itself. It then flew over close to the leaves and exhaled extremely heated breathe on it, and after a small spark, the leaf caught fire.

Soon, the leaf set fire to all the leaves around it, and the fire twister was formed. Not even the wind speed could stop the fire now that it has reached this height. However, the Swablu, with its limited vision and blurred thinking, did not aim correctly as Sela. Instead, the twister turned right unexpectedly and sucked up Hotshot. The electric Pokemon was roughed up quite badly, and then the twister ended, the fire disappeared and ashes fell on the floor along with the Manectric.

Something had went wrong. I expected them to fight back, but I didn't expect the Swablu to do so much damage and inflict a status on him. I found that hard to believe, but I knew I had to change Pokemon. I just wasn't sure who I'd send out to replace him. Whoever it was, had to be able to take hits and also recover quickly from them. I figured my mechanical Pokemon, Cybershock would do well in this battle. I was quite disappointed that Hotshot got hurt the way he did, I was going to have to heal his health after this battle.

"Hotshot stand down and use Refresh to heal your burn." I called out, pulling out another Pokeball. Hotshot walked over to my side, glaring at the Swablu. That was why I called him back, because I knew he was now angry with Swablu, which wasn't who I wanted him to focus on. "Come on out Cybershock." A bright white light quickly flashed and a black and red bird looking mechanical Pokemon appeared before me. Making several computer clicking and beeping sounds, Cybershock focused on Skarmory, but not letting his guard down on the Swablu.

"Cybershock, use Thunderbolt." I said. "Don't make it hit too hard." Cybershock nodded, confirming that he understood. He began letting out small charges of electrical energy that gathered in his body. Once he had enough energy, he sent the Thunderbolt attack heading straight for Skarmory.

 

OOC: Er... *rolls random dice lying around* Female Swablu. Also, Siless is Male

"D-Damnit.." Swablu's move, whatever it was, caught me off guard; I wasn't expecting it to be able to inflict status, and I certainly wasn't able to predict the burn. It's a good thing Hotshot had Refresh, though, since Sela didn't quite know how to use Heal Bell yet. Our best bet to avoid more status would've been Safeguard, but that would leave Cameron's newest Pokémon wide open for another attack.

"Sela, halt that Swablu with Thunder Wave, and then grab hold with Psychic!" Small specks of lightning appeared to form on the Gardevoir's arms at the command. Her Thunder Wave grew to its full power rather quickly, and, before releasing it, she created a sphere of Psychic energies around the Swablu to entrap it by the tree (I had meant for the Thunder Wave to be a distraction for the Psychic hold due to its accuracy and the distraction it would give, since Swablu has been known to use Refresh, but I think I prefer Sela's interpretation to my own strategy).

Sela Teleported to the tree in a bright flash of light right before unleashing her Thunder Wave, heading towards where she thought was the perfect vantage point for a direct hit. The tree losing its leaves made it much easier to see the two Pokémon in it, and the distance would help in avoiding stray blows like the one to Hotshot.

"If it struggles too much, hit it with a Hypnosis to calm it down!" The Taunt had seemed to be overly effective, almost as if I had commanded Swagger to be used. I'd hate to see what would've happened if we used that move...

 

OOC: Siless is male? Oh... XD I know it isn't suppose to cause confusion, but I used Random.org to see it works and got 100... so I made it a bit more effective.
And the die doesn't like you, Bumblebee.

A shimmering light went over Hotshot's body, and the painful burn wound disappeared. Then, it was summoned back to its ball. Cameron sent out a mechanical bird, its eyes fazed out and swirling. I remembered it as a Porygon-Z, or 'The Pokemin who nearly killed me with an electric egg'- long story. Cameron told the crazy bird Pokemon to use a Thunderbolt. Cybershock, as it was called, gathered its electricity until lightning crashed down onto Skamory, blinding me with the sudden flash temporarily. After I opened my eyes, the clouds were gone, and Skamory was howling.

Meanwhile, Siless has ordered his Gardevoir to attack the enraged bird. It teleported right next to the Swablu, before unleashing a ball of electricity. The Swablu yelped and fell to the ground, twitching. Immediately, it used Recover, not knowing that Sela would hit it with a surge of huge, invisible telekinetic power.

The Swablu screamed, and forced itself off the ground. Sela immediately started to use Hypnosis. In addition to the red miasma, the Swablu started to feel drowsy. It yawned as its head got heavy, and eyelids shut...

However, it opened its eyes and released a huge pulse of energy and power from its mouth at Sela, sending the Gardevoir flying backwards. It was then the Swablu submitted and fell to the ground, having failed asleep.

The Skamory flapped its wings and flew up to the sky which much more effort than usual. It wasn't running, it was still roaming in the sky. What was it planning on doing...? * *

OOC: Uh, okay, sure I guess.

IC: I brought out Hotshot out of his Pokeball again, telling him to stand and stay next to me. "Hotshot, use Rest, recover your energy." Hotshot nodded and curled near my leg and closing his eyes. He hadn't falled asleep yet, but I could see he was getting sleepy. I turned back to my battle. Skarmory flew up higher in the air. I knew it had to be using a physical attack on Cybershock. I had to think of something to bring up his defenses. Not just hkis defenses, but his speed. High defenses and speed meant better turnout. My computer Pokemon would be able to move faster while taking less damge from physical attacks.

"Cybershock, use Barrier, then follow it up with Agilty." I called out. Cybershock would begin downloading defensive manuvers and speed tactics. His body would quickly flash, giving off a metalic like armor. Then he would begin rapidly moving around the Skarmory, so fast, it would be hard for the Skarmow to follow him, making it much easier to tire it out before capturing it. I watched the paralyzed metallic bird flapping hard high in the sky, trying to stay airborn. His attack was nearly complete

 

"Sela, take some energy from the Swablu with Dream Eater. Once you feel revitalized, use a Calm Mind to focus that energy." Our opponent was down; our best bet was to prepare for when it got back up. I didn't want to mess up Cameron's capture with an unexpected attack, and it's not like our attacks would be particularly effective at that height anyways.

"If the Swablu starts waking up, swarm it with Double Team to confuse it." I didn't expect to see it up soon, but preparing for the situation is still a must...

Both Swablu and Sela began to glow a soft blue as the Gardevoir attempted to drain the bird's energy. Once I was sure things were going alright on my side of the battle, I turned to the Skarmory; I wanted to make sure it wouldn't go for the easier target than the speedy Porygon-Z without us having a chance to react.

 

OOC: The dice REALLY doesn't like Bumblebee.

A shiny wall appeared around Cybershock, before it started to use the move Agility. The more it circled its trainer, the more faster it became. Soon, it was spinning so fast that I couldn't keep my eyes on it and Bumblebee tried not to get too dizzy.

At the same time, Sela turned a light blue along with Swablu. A glowing, bright light came out of Swablu's mouth. I recognized the move as Dream Eater. They take the sweetest of dreams and replace them not with darkness; no, something much worse- nightmares about things you've never known, pure horror beyond comprehension. I could see Swablu already shaking from the images it was seeing.

The Skamory looked up high from above. He finally noticed his partner being attacked by Sela, it swooped down to do its 'Heroic Rescue', where most of the time he hurts Swablu more and she ends up screaming at him...

He aimed for Sela, who was still midway with her Dream Eater. Upon noticing the incoming treat, Sela broke off the attack immediately, trying to get away. But she didn't need to.

Suddenly, a jolt of electricity jumped on Skamory's left wing. He squawked and, waving only his right wing, he maneuvered right and away from the original target, though Sela was left with a bump on her head, being beaten a tiny bit by a steel wing. Sela remembered her orders by her trainer, and Sela focused. Her head glowed pink-purple, and suddenly, all weight was lifted from her shoulders. Sela relaxed and returned back, prepared.*

Porygon-Z was not expecting it. Skamory didn't hit him full on, but it was close enough to cause significant damage. Porygon-Z was surprised when the bird flew at him and a sharp pain rose from his side, thanks to its artificial touch sensors. Skamory's beak left a deep cut in Porygon-Z's circuits, leaving some of its wires exposed. It howled and went over to Cameron's side.

Skamory crash-landed on the ground, slightly dizzy. It tried to move, but realized it was paralyzed again. It swore in Pokemon language, and sighed.

Cybershock got hit by Skarmory's attack, which didn't come as a surprise to him. A small cut revealing his insides began to heal itself. He didn't regain health, but he healed his cut and closed the gap. I rubbed his head and made sure he was okay. I wanted to stall out the battle as long as I could, hoping to slowly tire out the steel bird, Skarmory. I knew Skarmory didn't have many special attacks, so chances were high that he'd be using a physical attack.

"Cybershock, use Barrier again then power up with Nasty Plot." I whispered to Cybershock. He nodded. Once again he'd set up an invisible shield of green energy that would raise his defenses up. Then, he would think of a devious plan to take down the Skarmory up to the point where I could capture it. While he did that, his eyes would turn black and his body would glow white. If the Skarmory would attack, Cybershock would use his speed to try and avoid that attack.

 

The wild Pokémon showed their first signs of real teamwork in battle, so it was probably best for us to do the same.

"Sela, weaken the Skarmory with a Charm, then hold Swablu with Confusion to restrict it when it gets back up." Charm somehow lowered the target's physical attack power; I assumed it was mostly infatuation or guilt, but in the hands of a Psychic-type Pokémon, it could easily be a form of psychic pressure on the target as well.

Sela immediately started tearing her eyes up for the attack, staring towards Skarmory with a sad, pleading look.Her arms covered her chest-horn, which began to glow a dim blue from the power of the Confusion aimed at holding the Swablu down.

 

The hole on Cybershock's side quickly patched up, though the damage was still there. After Cameron told the dysfunctional virus the next moves it should perform, a sharp shine appeared in front of it. Then, its eyes turned a menacing black and the body glowed white. It started to cackle, but it seemed that only I could hear it- or I was imagining things again...

Sela bat her eyelids and put on the most innocent and hurt face she could muster. Although Skamory was everything but a gentlemen, he had something against hurting female Pokemon, though he could rough up genderless and male Pokemon all he wanted. Although it was a tiny bit sexist, that was probably how Skamory was still battle partners with the Pokemon that always yelled and screamed at him.

Wait... hold on... where's Swablu? The Skamory shifted his eyes and noticed the stirring Swablu, only to be knocked out by a strange force. Anger boiled up in Skamory who was sure Sela had something to do with it (although he had no proof and his knowledge of Psychic Pokemon was limited). Though he was reluctant to hit the Gardevoir, he didn't want Swablu hurt at all. Skamory forcibly moved, even though his body protested. Sela noticed something was up and got out of the way as the Skamory dragged his feet. He waved his metal wings and Sela got scratched a bit on the arm. When she was distracted, her chest-horn stopped glowing blue, and Swablu stood up. The long sleep has edged away her furiosity towards Sela, though the sleepy bird still wanted to battle. Swablu flew onto Skamory's head and yelled at him to hit the Gardevoir, unaware of his paralyzed state. Skamory rolled his eyes and simply rubbed his two wings together to form a terrible screeching sound.

Sela covered her ears, but it could not block out the sound. Fortunately- or unfortunately- Cybershock simply switched off its hearing mechanism and was not affected by the sound of scrapping metal.

Hotshot was woken up abruptly by the horrible sound, and it immediately groaned. It looked at its trainer and whimpered slightly. Finally, after a larger scrap, Skamory fell to the ground, volts jumping from him. Swablu sighed and used another healing move. It hummed slightly, and the volts disappeared. Skamory stood up and ready, facing the Gardevoir.

"That was Heal Bell." I said.

"Sela, keep them still! Surround them with Double Team and hit them with Thunder Wave!" Heal Bell was going to be problematic; for the biggest chance of a capture, a status ailment or two would be necessary, and Heal Bell healed them rather quickly.

The Gardevoir split into two hazy images, which further split into four.. I always had difficulty telling which one was the real one, but Skarmory were known for their acute vision... "Keep an eye on that Skarmory, it may be able to pick you out from your images!"

We couldn't risk further attacks at this point; a stronger attack would hurt the Swablu too much, while, without a status, Swablu could easily resist or avoid the weaker ones. We could help with Skarmory, but that'd be best left to just status as well, unless Cameron requested otherwise; we wouldn't want to mess up any plans he has.

"Once you're finished, shore up your defenses with a Calm Mind." I knew the Metal Sound was stronger than the Calm Mind, but only affected defenses; relaxing the mind further would help counter the sound, however, so the second Calm Mind should completely negate the Metal Sound.
