OOC: Never thought I'd use a capture to actually aid a battle lol

"Yeah, Toxic sounds goo-" I cut myself short when I realized what that Starly was doing...

"D-damn... Starly learn Endeavor..." The bird was going to do all it could while it was still up, and Endeavor would be a problem, especially if it was willingly taking such blows as Ice Beam...

I had an idea to stop it. I didn't expect to have to do it, but, at the same time, I was still prepared to make the decision. "Sela, capture time! Use a Toxic on Drifloon to back up Cameron and then guide this Park Ball to the Starly; if we don't capture, it'll at least keep it immobile for a short time."

Sela confirmed the orders with a "Gar!" It was hard to see in the night, but as I saw a beam of poison head from Sela to Drifloon, I threw my park ball and watched it get surrounded by blue psychic energies as it traveled towards the partially-frozen, shimmering Starly.

 

The ball hit square-on despite the darkness. A flash emitted, which sent a gasp of shock through Drifloon. The ball rolled and clicked. Starly beat against the ball, but that was before he realized what had just happened.

He was captured. Finally, after so long. Captured. Starly gave a slight smile. Even if he wasn't brought out, it was a nice feeling. Unexplainable, really. It knew it probably won't be brought back, but it felt accomplished. The mind could be baffling.

Drifloon, on the other hand, was not feeling anything like Starly, especially as Sela redirected the Pokeball back to her trainer. In fact... what's that burning sensation? ARGH! The pain! The Toxic burned the area it came in contact with, and it was just the start. The poison infiltrated the balloon's veins, causing a horrible feeling all over is body.

Drifloon prepared to attack, only to realize it couldn't budge. It cursed obscenities, which Sela considered unnecessary to translate. Things were not going well. And the Zap Cannon was not necessary.

Drifloon felt the shock as the beam of pulsing electricity jolted its body. The extra shot was only completely on-shot, causing even more pain. Drifloon wanted to lift its head, but now it took what seemed like the same amount of energy to climb Mount Oktori with your teeth.

I let out a sigh of relief as I saw that my plan was finally working out the way it was supposed to. The Starly was out of the way, and the Drifloon had two status conditions on it. It was badly poisoned and paralyzed. All I had to do now was wait for Toxic to take effect one last time then I could throw a Hyperball and seal the deal. I bought out a red and black Hyperball and prepared to throw it. I also brought out another small vile of Calming Fragrance and released the fumes.

"Cybershock, I need you to use Signal Beam." Signal Beam was the only move I could think of at the moment that wouldn't do a lot of damage to the Drifloon, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it barely did anything. Cybershock's body became surrounded by silver static which quickly changed into a rainbow colored aura. He then extended his arms and formed a small ball. Then he would launch the rainbow colored beam towards the Drifloon. As soon as Cybershock launched his attack, I threw the Hyperball. ​

 

Starly was captured without too much struggle; it seemed to be mostly out of surprise that the little bit of fight still in him came out.

Drifloon, on the other hand, did not seem to happy. It seemed to struggle to move in the darkness, and it said... something. Sela seemed a bit flustered at the comment, whatever it was.

"Alright, Sela, just guide Cameron's ball to the Drifloon, and we may be able to finish it right here." I wasn't expecting the battle to finish so abruptly, but I guess one capture makes the other easier...

 

The ball simply clicked, completely symmetrical to the way Starly was captured. The Drifloon snored in the ball, soothed by the Calm Fragrance Plus. It relaxed, its body simply falling into the ball. With the help of Sela again, the hit head-on. I saw the ball glow blue and float over to my hand. I thanked Sela before putting the ball in my bag, and putting the ball with Starly in it too. I took out a flashlight, and after a bit of trying to get it to work, a flickering light appeared in front of the glass. "I really need to get them to stop delaying the delivery of a new flashlight." I grumbled. Well, it was sufficient to get around, so I guess I wasn't to complain too much.

A Murkrow's cry resounded close to us, and one slammed directly into my face. After getting the feathers out of my mouth, the Murkrow tried to flap its wings again, but only managed a few inches over the ground before dropping down. I noticed its wing was bent slightly up, maybe from slamming into me by accident. I quickly whipped out a potion and sprayed it on the wing. After a rough flap layer, the wing was straight and ready to fly. The Murkrow cried in happiness, and then, from a distance, came in a ball of light, as if it was on cue. It suddenly flashed, and I had to get used to the bright glow. I gaped as I saw the majestic Pokemon, its belly red with a glowing triangle.

The Latias looked at us curiously, its playful glance not leaving its face. Murkrow called out again, talking to Latias. If only I had a camera...!

OOC: Well, Bee contacted me about the Murkrow, so I guess we're swapping? If he wants it, he can have it back, but if he doesn't I'll take it cuz Murkrow is a cool birdy.

The Murkrow was ecstatic about being healed. I partially wondered if it was our fault the Murkrow crashed, since it was brigth from Drifloon's Sunny Day before it showed up.

"Are you alright?" I asked the Murkrow (Sela translated for me, as normal). I was a bit worried for the Murkrow; even if its wing is fixed, it may be disoriented from the blow. I watched the Murkrow, and it seemed to be talking to somehting else...

Whoa.. while I was distracted with the Murkrow, a shining Pokémon joined the group; I believe it was referred to as Latias in Hoenn legends. I wondered what the Murkrow was saying, but Sela seemed to be a bit too in-awe to tell me. She snapped out of her trance to translate for me, "Are you two friends?"

 

OOC: That is correct, if you want to we're swapping.

IC: Soon after the Murkrow was healed a fast silver flash came before us. The Legendary Pokemon Latias was floating before us. I quickly whipped out my camera and snapped the button. I didn't wait to see if the photo came out right. I looked over to the Latias and wondered if Latios was around, the two usually stuck together. I wondered if he'd make his appearance known soon if at all.

"Okay Cybershock, stand by for battle." I said. "Don't do anything unless Latias attacks or Siless asks you to."​

 

"Oh, I'm so sorry for bumping into you!" Latias said, sounding a bit more worried than she looked. Then again, we couldn't make out its face much, with the glow that contrasted against the background. Murkrow cawed an apology, which brought much relief to the Legendary Pokemon. It seemed that although Latias was rarer and stronger, they were all okay about communicating with Pokemon that were far more common- which is a good thing, don't get me wrong. But Rayquaza would definitely not act the same way towards little Pokemon like the Murkrow...

"Oh, that's a-okay! I'm having trouble seeing with your glow, though, so could you, like, turn it off or something?" The Murkrow said, and the whole area was then dived into pitch darkness. "Ah, much better!" The Murkrow said. Being nocturnal, its eyes turned slit when light shone on it intensively. Now that it was dark, the little light that could be picked up by the sensitive eyes it had could let it see the whole Outer Heavens clearly if it went high enough. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case for us humans...

IC: "Alright Cybershock, light this place up with your Discharge attack, just don't attack anyone. You do the same Manectric." I said, tossing a Pokeball in front of me. The Murkrow didn't like the light, so I was lighting this place up. "Mindbender you get in there and help Siless, do what he says for now. Help him fend off the Latias if she attacks. I was hoping that the light would make the Murkrow a little off its game.​

 

I had a vague sense of where the Murkrow was from its voice; I needed everything I could get to find it in the darkness. It would be light soon with Cameron's Pokémon using Discharge as a makeshift Flash attack, and I wanted to make sure the Murkrow wasn't angered or caught off-guard by it.

"I'm sorry, Murkrow, but we need a better source of light," I told the bird, backed up by translation from Sela. I didn't want to scare off Murkrow too early by forcing it in unfavorable conditions, but we couldn't see at all. So, I figured, by letting Murkrow know, it could prepare for the flash of light. Still, I didn't want it to leave, and while talking to it I dropped a hint or two about how I would like it to join my team, which Sela seemed to translate with enthusiasm.

 

Suddenly, there was a flash, probably from Cameron's camera- pretty slow camera. Now, a clear, exquisite and very expensive photo came out as a neat picture. Latias was surprised by the bright flash, and looking right at the flash did no good. Latias knew it wasn't a move, but it disliked the sudden light. Then, it listened to Siless talk about the need of light. Oh, yes... Latias has forgotten that humans need more light to see what was around them.

"Are you okay with that, Murkrow?" Latias asked, and the Murkrow nodded. Just then, two Discharges were released, lighting up the scenery, but Latias knew only for so long as the move lasted. With a flick of its red-padded paw, the combination of a weak Sunny Day and dark skies caused a normal, bright dawn effect. It suited both Murkrow and us humans. The trees looked more... green... than usual. Maybe it was the effect of having been exposed to darkness too long.

"There. Fire moves won't get a leg-up either, so I guess that levels the playing field." Latias said, before hearing a call. My eyes widened when I realized that was the call of Latios. He wasn't far... not far at all. Latias looked back at us, before yelling out an answer to the call. A quick good-bye later, the Latias flew away, I knew I probably won't see her again.

"So," The Murkrow said in enthusiasm, "Is it mumbo time yet?"

Latias left, but not before bringing in another Sunny Day as the Drifloon before had done; the light wasn't too bright for Murkrow, but was more than enough for everyone else to see adequately. The Dark-Type bird seemed ready to battle, and I figured I shouldn't keep it waiting.

"Alright, Sela. You sit this one out; you had two good battles and you deserve a decent rest." While saying this, I pulled out my second Pokéball, tossing it into the air. A bright flash of light emerged from the ball, which landed and converged into the form of a plump pineapple with a sombrero. "Alright, Teddson, you're up!"

My Ludicolo immediately started moving as soon as it got out of its ball, dancing to some imaginary tune in its head. I had considered bringing a music disc to try to play in the Poképlayer to accompany Ludicolo's battles, since it gets energy from the music, but I forgot to grab one when I left for the park, so the imaginary beat would have to do.

"Alright Teddson, start with a Water Sport and, if Murkrow gets too close, push it off with a Fury Swipes." I had two priorities for the battle: I needed to keep the battle in Teddson's favor, and I had to see how the Murkrow would battle so that I could help Teddson react appropriately. Water Sport was intended to help with the first priority; even if Murkrow wasn't known to have Fire-type attacks, the dampening of the field would make Teddson feel as though he was on his own turf, and any bolstering to his already high spirits will bring his energy even higher. Fury Swipes was merely something to let Teddson know I was alright with him attacking the bird had it gotten too close for him to feel comfortable.

 

"Alright Cybershock, Hotshot, return." I called out once I saw the Latias leave. The place was already getting a bit of light, so there was no need for them to continue. It was now Siless' Ludicolo vs Murkrow. I kept Mindbender out for the just in case something jumped us unexpectedly. The battle was just about to heat up and get good. I watched the dark hat Pokemon carefully, seeing how it was going to react.

 

OOC: Oh god XD BLAME SOMEONE WITH A PIGEON IN HER NAME. Okay, not so much, but still...

"Oooh! I got it!" Murkrow said as the water sprayed all over the battlefield. "Be on your wit's end, Ludicolo, or you'll be knocked out faster than a Dodrio from a hoard of dirty-minded Jynx!" The sentence the Murkrow just said put a disturbing thought in my mind, which will probably remain there for a month or two. Suddenly, the Murkrow opened and closed its beak, tapping in a sort of beat... uh oh...

Teddson started to dance madly in order to the music Murkrow was playing, its large, thick feet stomping against the ground in a perfect, systematic yet free rhythm. That moment, Murkrow swept in front of Teddson, who looked straight into his eyes. Suddenly, the scenery transformed. It was now in the middle... of a hoard of dancing Jynx!

"Oh god, you should have heard yourself yell!" Murkrow laughed, and was close to being hit by a barrage of Fury Swipes. A nice back-flip, and a hit by the claws it had was enough to stop Teddson performing more. "Suuuuckeeer! Sucker Punch, in fact! Don't mess with me too much!" Murkrow cawed out, before darting back. The moment Teddson opened his eyes, Murkrow was in a sexy position, hanging on a thin tree like woman in strip clubs. I stared blankly, but Teddson was far more affected. So, someone can hit you with their claws and you get a crush on them? What?

"Need to make sure you don't get TOO attracted and you'll turn into a Rapecolo." Murkrow said, and by now Sela had stopped translating as Murkrow yelled out more. It was a combination of quirky, impish and a seriously polluted mind.

My... I wasn't sure how to respond to what just happened. This Murkrow was certainly... weird? Murkrow had infatuated Teddson effortlessly. This would make having Teddson battle it much more difficult than I expected, though I could possibly battle around this handicap..

"Alright Teddson, get Murkrow's attention with your own Attract." I figured, due to the charming nature of the move, Teddson would have no problem using his own Attract through his infatuation, though I made sure I was fully prepared to switch Teddson out if this didn't work.

Part of me wanted to get this insane battle over with already. The insanity of the situation started to give me a headache, and the sooner we were done with it the sooner I could get back to normal. I was already only barely watching, knowing my head would just hurt more from witnessing too much of the battle.

Bleh... I probably would have to get used to this if I caught this bird...

 

The Murkrow didn't waste any time, it immediately used its dark powers to make Siless' Ludiolo fall head over heels. I wanted to help, but having a two on one battle wouldn't be fair, not to mention it might even get me thrown out of the park or something. All I could do was watch. Well, maybe that wasn't all, I could give support and advice if needed. This Murkrow was pretty annoying, I just wanted to get Hotshot to send a quick Thunderbolt attack at it to shut it up.

Hotshot and Cybershock were still giving off light, which was using a little of their energy, but not enough to make a difference in their health. I had Mindbender, Kickback, and Skyfire still on standby in their Pokeballs. They were also eager to battle. Skyfire and Kickback were the only ones so far who I hadn't used in any battle. Whatever Pokemon I ran into next, I was going to use Kickback next, see how things went. ​

 

"Ooo, la-la-la!" The Murkrow said as Teddson used his own Attract, which he poured an unusual amount of effort into doing- as in, more than his average. It was probably due to both the want to please his trainer and the want to get Murkrow to get infatuated too. And it worked. And now, both were just striking embarrassing poses to one another. Okay, this Murkrow is weirder than most Pokemon I gave EVER encountered. This may just be the most eventful battle of my Ranger career...

"Gah, what am I thinking? Yet..." The Murkrow knocked its head against a tree. Perhaps a gear came loose in her head or something. But for some reason, the Murkrow was... confused? Yes, confused by itself! It attempted to use yet another move, but now it was twice- or one point five- times as hard, since both infatuation AND confusion gave the Pokemon a 75% chance of either. If it didn't have Super Luck, the Murkrow would have probably been caught in a spiral of self-hurt and strong lust. This time it was strong lust. I did NOT want to know what thoughts were going through its confused and infatuated mind- much more than just an infatuated mind, I guess.

The Murkrow was annoying me... I wanted to get this battle over with quickly. And Teddson, even though he managed to successfully infatuate Murkrow, was not in any condition to do this. I returned him to his Pokéball in the same flash of light that brought him to the battlefield, and tossed out a third ball.

"Missy, you're up for battle!" I called out my Mismagius, a Ghost-type. Even though she was type-disadvantaged against Murkrow, she could keep from becoming infatuated and had super-effective attacks.

From where I stood, it seemed Murkrow had somehow managed to confuse itself trying to remove the infatuation from my Ludicolo. I needed to do some damage, yet I also wanted to reinforce this confusion so it wouldn't wear off easily. Missy was a contest battler, so I planned on letting her use her more flowing attacks for control over its appearance.

"Alright, Missy, first appeal with a Thunderbolt guided by a Confuse Ray." The levitating Ghost-type shot out a beam of electrical energy; it was joined in flight by two white orbs that helixed around the lightning, somehow making the attack more flashy than it already was to begin with. With the attack in the air, I gave Missy more orders so she could complete her attacks before the Murkrow could react. "Now protect yourself with Lucky Chant and focus with Calm Mind; give yourself some shine!"

While the Con-bolt was in the air, Missy started chanting and focusing; the energies from her attacks mixed as an aura grew around her. Bright blue and pink lights surrounded my Mismagius until they converged on her being, finishing the attacks.

 

So far, Siless was doing good in this battle. I figured he was just as annoyed with this Murkrow as I was, anyone would be. He changed from Ludicolo to Mismagius, which was a risky choice but he seemed to know what he was doing. He was going to have to add a status condition to the Murkrow to make the capture much easier. I felt that the capture was coming soon, very soon. We just had to wait to see how much Mismgaius' Thunderbolt did. If it did a reasonable amout, then he'd be set to throw the ball. ​

 

The sky darkened slowly, before a large flash of light crackled down, hitting Murkrow. Her now burnt feathers rustled slightly, stiff and fill of ashes. Murkrow slowly got up, only to be hit by two flashing orbs. They proceeded to enter her head, and messing up the circuits even more. Murkrow stood on her wobbly feet, and moved like a drunk person. The blurred and moving image of Missy didn't appeal to Murkrow much, and the infatuation stopped immediately.

As Mismagius chanted and flowed in an elegant dance, her movements natural and free. As she glowed, Murkrow yelled out in displeasure towards the ghost, shocking the haughty Pokemon. Murkrow's voice was also varied, sounding both ear-piercing and soft at the same time.

"You! Don't think about it!" Murkrow said, and a dark aura flowed from it, going around Mismagius. The aura squeezed through its head, and became a white glow, going back to Murkrow. Then, and surge of completely atrocious energy cut through the air, hitting Mismagius, though not too hard- her lucky chant has made sure that no critical hits may be performed.
