OOC: Asked/asking for Munna to Female. Can't remember if I posted that in my first post or not.

IC: At this point I didn't really have my eyes on what was going on between Absol, and Gastly, because short of that Light Screen I had used earlier on there was nothing I could do to help it. I'm sure he had something in mind though, I mean after all this wasn't her first time to the park, and if I remembered hearing correctly it was actually her third time at Meteor Valley, so I'm sure at this point she knew how to combat Ghost-type Pokemon, and all their tricks.

On my side of things though Munna had used Rock Slide, but it wasn't all that handy since Scizor managed to break essentially every rock that Munna created to throw its way, and then ram its head into the Psychic-type, knocking it to the ground. Granted once it was finished attack Scizor started to rub its head, which meant that it had gotten a little hurt in the process of everything, but it didn't look too different than before, so I figured it hadn't taken all that much damage. Munna however wasn't doing so well, but I still thought that it had enough health where I couldn't get a secure enough capture. It was all right, I had one more attack in mind that I could use, which wouldn't be too powerful.

"All right Scizor, now let's wrap things up here with a Quick Attack," I commanded. Scizor had two attacks it could have used here, Quick Attack, or Bullet Punch, both of which were weak enough to get a boost from Technician. Problem was that I felt Bullet Punch would be too powerful due to Scizor also receiving STAB from it. I was worried that it would then possibly knock Munna out from it, and didn't want to take an unnecessary risk. Quick Attack was good enough. Scizor would quickly race over at Munna, and strike it in an instant with a quick body blow. I also knew this was my chance, and I knew Akinai was most likely thinking the same thing on her side of the battle. With that in mind I reach into my backpack, and pulled out a regular Park Ball. I then set my eyes on Munna, and once Quick Attack hit her, I would throw the ball, and attempt to catch it.

As Gaard began to split into multiple images, both Munna and Scizor jumped into their own attacks as well. As the Steel-type dashed towards the floating Pokemon in a charge, Munna began to glow with a white light once more. This time, instead of charging Gastly with the energy, she opted to levitate a few nearby rocks instead, and tossed them towards the incoming Scizor.

Scizor reacted quickly, leaping into the air before diving down on the Munna head-first. While the rocks collided with him at nearly the same time he crashed into the Psychic-type, there appeared to be a wide difference in injuries between the two. Scizor rubbed his head absently with a pincer as he stood back up, taking only minimal damage from the rocks due to most not hitting their mark. Munna, on the other hand, seemed to slowly float back to her original position, obviously weakened.

At this point, Gastly finally reacted, causing Akinai to focus on her own battle instead. Noticing his partner's distress, the Ghost-type began to glow with a brilliant green light before shooting off multiple orbs of the same color towards the multiple Absols. Whether it was due to his anger or the Pokemon simply didn't remember that the other team had a barrier up as well, but the attack was considerably weakened as it passed through the Light Screen.

Gaard easily managed to escape harm, allowing the move to dispel three images instead as he watched just outside of the Gastly's sight. As soon as the wild Pokemon showed frustration at his inability to hit the right target, the Absol landed his Night Slash by running into Gastly. As the creature howled in pain, Gaard dashed back over to his side of the field.

Gastly quickly launched another attack, shooting another pulse of Night Shade over at the Absol, though the wave was smaller this time around due to being created without Munna's assistance. While Gaard leaped into the air to avoid the pulse, the attack managed to successfully dispel the other images. For the moment, Gaard was fully revealed.

Fortunately, this was not the only change. As the Double Team finally dissipated, the barriers protecting both teams lowered as well, allowing everyone to attack at their full potential once more. Plus, after a quick glance over at Scizor and Munna to see how Eric was faring, Akinai figured that the Trainer would be attempting a capture soon. While Gastly appeared to have a little more fight left in it, she had a feeling that it wouldn't be long before the Ghost-type was ready to be caught soon as well.

“Alright, let's make this next one count, Gaard!” Akinai called out to the Absol, getting the Pokemon's attention. “Get close with a Bite, then try another Thunder Wave. After that, be sure to clear out.” Akinai pulled her pack forward, knowing that Gaard knew what she meant by this last command; this usually meant that soon the battle would be over.

Gaard rushed toward the Gastly once more, this time baring his fangs instead of using his horn to attack. Once he was close enough, the Absol would try to leap on his target to deliver a crushing bite, the attack infused with dark energy like his prior attacks. Once he latched on, Gaard would shoot a burst of static electricity at the wild Pokemon before finally stepping out of the way.

As soon as Gaard finished his moves, Akinai fished out a Parkball, figuring that a stronger Ball would not be needed for this battle. After aiming carefully at the Gastly, she lobbed the sphere towards the wild Pokemon.

You know Gary, it feels like we've been on break for six months. We really should get back to that run, Gardevoir said to me

Six months? Yeah cause I could totally just sit in this room for six months, and a trainer would still be in the park with no food, or water. I went on a coffee break three hours ago, and decided to sit and watch wrestling. I'm sure Saundra is fine, someone probably took over while I'm gone.

But still, is it really right?

Hey I can't help it if she's impatient, and can't let me enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Everyone knows all of us rangers enjoy our coffee. Well except Makina. I'll get back to work eventually.

    Eventually.

As though I had never been gone, I make my return to Saundra Blake to see her through Meteor Valley, only now it would appear she has already captured a few nice things. I see that not only had Saundra captured that Sableye she had started to battle before I went on break, but she also managed to capture a Ralts, and is now currently battling an Absol with her Scizor. I couldn't help but wonder if I should make this some sort of Absolfest. So rather than send out my Gardevoir to accompany me around here, I instead sent out my Absol making there be two of them in the surrounding area. This should be fun I figured. But onto more important matters than me being amused. Namely the battle at hand. I had just reappeared only moments after Saundra had sent Scizor her command, so I honestly had no idea what it was going to do until I actually saw what it does.

Ripper, as I'd call it by its nickname for the sake of the battle since I'd be gone for a while and thought it was an Absol, was the first to move, and did so by starting to run around very quickly in the area. Seeing as how it couldn't learn Agility it must have been using Quick Attack, though it didn't seem as though it was using it to attack, but rather it was using it for the speed that would come along with it. Saundra must have wanted it to get close to her foe so that it could throw a surprise attack, a tactic that was pretty commonly seen here in the park.

Once its speed was built up, Ripper dashed at Absol, and in an instant its claws turned a shade of green, and it slashed away. The only attack it could have been using was Fury Cutter, a Bug-type move that starts off incredibly weak, but when you used it repetitively its power would double with the next hit. Ripper clawed at Absol, and it caused it to back away in a small bit of pain. But when it glanced back at Ripper it seemed like it was in an aww. That only meant one thing, Absol was in love. Oh that poor little creature, being in love with something that was constantly smacking it around. Attract was a cruel, cruel move.

Of course though with being in love you had a fifty percent chance of being able to attack, and at this instance of time Absol saw the truth, rather than being blinded by love. It knew what Saundra, and Ripper were doing, and boy let me tell you that it didn't look too happy. It took its claws, and went to slash away in retaliation to the slash it took. It was using, ironically enough, Slash. A Normal-type move where the user slashes at the foe with sharp claws, and therefore can land a critical hit easier. Absol slashed away, but thanks to the Quick Attack it had just used, Ripper had some excess speed left over, and was able to more or less dodge it, only getting its back left leg scratched. I wasn't really sure of what I had missed, and I also wasn't sure what was going to come next. But one thing was for sure, it was nice to be back at work after my extended coffee break.

The first blow of Fury Cutter had landed, and it would be crucial to the next step of my plan. Absol hadn’t taken much damage from the swat Ripper had landed, but it was just the start of things to come.

After being struck with the Fury Cutter, Absol retaliated with a Slash attack, her ebony claws splayed wide as she lashed out at the crimson insect battling her. Slash would have been a painful experience for another Pokemon, but thanks to his hardened exoskeleton, Ripper would have barely felt the attack. The most unpleasant thing about the attack was how Absol’s claws squealed as they dragged along the steel of Ripper’s exoskeleton.

Ripper himself didn’t appear at all phased by the blow, nimbly hopping back as the momentum from the Slash drove him away from Absol. He then took a stance, and even though his back was to me at the moment, I knew there would be a slightly unhinged look in his eyes now. The Fury Cutter move literally drove the user into a sort of frenzy when they used it, doing more damage with every blow as they became more and more worked up. The effect only last until another move was used, though, or one of the successive attacks missed.

I was getting ready to give Ripper his next command, but a short screech from Ironbeak drew my attention to the Braviary. He was looking at something behind me, and I turned to see Kiryu was gone. In his place was the Ranger who’d first started taking me through the Park; I had to think for a moment before I remembered his name was Gary. I nodded at him to acknowledge his presence, smiling just a little when I saw he had an Absol as well. It seemed Absol was the Pokemon of the day here at the Park.

I turned my attention back to the matter at hand, which was wearing Absol down enough to catch her before we got unlucky. So far Fate had been relatively kind to us, but I was never one to count on Fate’s favor. She was often a moody mistress, helping you one moment and then trying to kill you the next.

“Ripper!” I called, gaining the Scizor’s attention. “Move in for another Fury Cutter, and then put as much strength as you can muster into a False Swipe!” There was no response except Ripper dashing towards Absol, using his wings to swerve and dart back and forth erratically. The second blow of Fury Cutter would be twice the power of the first if it struck, dealing a fair amount of damage but not enough to accidentally knock Absol out. False Swipe was the main attack here, though.

False Swipe was a curious move. No matter how weak the foe, or how much the user had boosted their Attack, False Swipe could never knock out a Pokemon. Even if they were down to their very last sliver of HP, barely clinging to consciousness by sheer force of will, False Swipe wouldn’t send them over that fine line and knock them out. It wasn’t understood how this was the case, as the attack itself dealt a fair amount of damage under normal circumstances. I’d heard a few studies had been made on the subject, but none of them had made any progress, so the funding had been cut.

False Swipe was a move like Attract for Ripper, in the fact that it wasn’t one he enjoyed using. To him, it seemed like a dishonest attack. I really didn’t understand his logic, but then again, the way Pokemon think is oftentimes a completely different process than how humans think. I usually tried to respect his feelings about moves like this, but just like with Attract, when I did ask him to use them, Ripper usually did his best to do so. He knew I only asked him to do things like this when I felt it was necessary.

As Ripper charged at his foe, I started to make quick calculations in my head. Absol was starting to lag a little, but she still had a fair amount of fight in her. However, after Ripper’s next series of attacks, she’d be lagging more so long as nothing went horribly wrong. As that thought popped into my head, I instantly started to think about the moves an Absol was capable of knowing. Because I already owned an Absol, I was very familiar with the multitude of attacks and techniques they were able to learn. In this case, the most dangerous possibility would be Flamethrower.

Absol weren’t very good at using Special attacks such as Flamethrower, but against something like a Scizor, one didn’t need to have the ability to use Flamethrower well. Ripper’s species was weak to Fire attacks four times over, and Scizor were known for their Defense, not their Special Defense. Even from a Pokemon like Absol, who was far more geared towards striking with Physical attacks, a Flamethrower would be bad news. The damage itself wasn’t the only unsavory thing about any incoming Flamethrowers; it was also capable of inflicting a nasty Burn, if it didn’t outright knock out a victim. Burns not only cut the victim’s Attack power, it also steadily sapped their HP. Even worse than Flamethrower was Fire Blast, which was basically a super-powered version of Flamethrower. Granted, Ripper knew the Light Screen move, which basically created a barrier that weakened Special attacks and thus lowered the damage from them, but in Ripper’s case, even that didn’t help much unless it was Raining. It also didn’t stop the effects of Special attacks, such as Burns or Poisoning.

Speaking of Burns, Absol could also use Will-o-Wisp. While it was a somewhat slow and erratic move, which caused it to have slightly bad accuracry, it would instantly inflict a Burn if it touched the victim. Absol were Absol capable of using Thunder Wave, which slowed the reaction of muscles to cut the victim’s Speed. It would also randomly cause the stricken Pokemon’s muscles to lock up, rendering them completely immobile for a few moments. Ripper knew Substitute to protect against moves like that, but only if he was far away from Absol enough to have the time needed to set up the decoy.

There were also several other attacks that could cause neutral damage, such as Thunder or Rock Slide. Some of these, such as Rock Slide, I wasn’t really too worried about. However, moves like Thunder would hurt a lot more than pretty much any Physical attack Absol might know. However, as I thought about the different kinds of moves Absol could learn, I started to realize something. This Absol in particular had, so far, only used moves an Absol naturally learned from leveling up. Whether it was a stroke of luck or just Absol’s preference, I started to relax a little, no longer paranoid at the thought of her randomly belching up a massive conflagration at Ripper in an attempt to immolate him. Even if she did, I soon realized I was overthinking what to do too much; in the event of any “OH MY GOD RUN” attacks, the best response would be a speedy Protect.

Feeling more at ease now, I turned my full attention to the battle at hand.

Saundra seemed to go into a contemplative state, most likely thinking about what sort of attack, or attacks would be best to use now. It was true that Fury Cutter wasn't all that powerful last time, but she no doubt knew that the attack would continue to increase in strength for as long as she kept using it. Plus it wasn't even all that weak really. I mean add on the fact that Scizor both received a STAB, and a Technician boost from the attack, and also that Absol was weak to Bug-type moves, and Fury Cutter's first hit wasn't awful, and then a second one would have the potential to be deadly. This of course all depended on whether Saundra decided to use said attack again or not.

“Ripper! Move in for another Fury Cutter, and then put as much strength as you can muster into a False Swipe!” That was a pretty interesting, and smart command. Saundra was fairly certain that a second strike from Fury Cutter wouldn't do enough damage, and so she also sent a second attack along with it. Though this wasn't just any ordinary attack. She had sent a unique one, one that she was certain wouldn't finish Absol off.

Scizor once again got itself into position, and its right claw started to glow green once more, though this time it was slightly darker in its shade, symbolizing that it was now more powerful. It once again raced over at the wild Absol, and slashed its claw at its midsection. Absol backed up wincing in pain. You could see that this time Fury Cutter was much more significant in dealing some heavy damage.

That wasn't all though. Next was False Swipe. What this attack was, was a Normal-type attack where the user would quickly slash at the foe, sort of similar to Fury Cutter. This attack was very unique though, because the user was able to hold back enough of their power where, while it could be powerful enough to do damage, but it would never knock out the opposing Pokemon. It was a very clever thing to do, because it could weaken Absol without making it uncatchable. Since Scizor had used its right claw for Fury Cutter, it took its left one, and quickly slashed at Absol's stomach once more. The creature was hurting, but it wasn't so hurt that False Swipe brought it down to its last bit of health.

I had to wonder if Absol was going to strike back, or if it was going to be immobilized. While it may have been in love, the damage it was feeling was enough to let her know that something just wasn't right here. She took the same claw he had used for Slash, and went to strike at Scizor again, only this time the claw was a dark purplish shade instead. She slashed at Scizor with Night Slash, a move that was the Dark-type version of Slash. While it still wasn't all that effective due to the Steel-typing, and the defense plus two it seemed to do a little damage since Scizor rubbed at its midsection afterward. It didn't seem to get a critical hit, but Absol looked like it meant business. Though at the same time Attract still must have been playing a factor, since it didn't use smarter choices such as Flamethrower, or a status move like Thunder Wave, or Will-o-Wisp. Still though, it didn't mean Saundra could let down her guard, not because of that, and not because things were essentially over in this battle.

Absol looked pretty winded from Ripper’s last attack, and I could see she was getting pretty fatigued. She’d used another Night Slash, and I thanked whatever deity was watching us for how well our luck had been holding. All the same, we weren’t done yet, and there was no sense in getting too comfortable when the battle wasn’t over yet.

Absol’s Night Slash didn’t seem to be a critical hit, as Ripper only acknowledged it by absently rubbing his abdomen with one of his pincers. He then glanced back at me, clearly saying he was ready for this to be over. So far he had used several moves he wasn’t very keen of, and I could tell he was reaching the limit where he’d start refusing to use others he wasn’t fond of if things kept up much longer. I couldn’t fault him for that, though; we all had our own unique personalities, and I never grew angry with my Pokemon for refusing to do something they didn’t want. After all, they were living, sentient creatures, not mindless automatons. Forcing them into doing things they didn’t like was the exact opposite of what a good Trainer did; working with a Pokemon to bring out its full potential with what it did like was what made Pokemon stronger.

“All right, Ripper, you know I know how little you like some of the moves I asked you to use. You’ve been doing an awesome job, though, and now we’re just about done. I promise I’ll make this up to you as soon as we leave,” I told the Scizor, who brightened just a little. “Now let’s wrap this up! Create a distraction for me, if you would please.” Ripper nodded once, and even though it wouldn’t be visible to others, I could tell from his posture that he was glad we were about done. He faced Absol and crouched, then blinked out of sight. When he was visible again there were two of him; both Scizor then vanished and when they reappeared, there were four. Finally, those four vanished and reappeared as eight.

His Double Team complete, Ripper darted in towards Absol, both pincers held to his chest as he moved in. As he did, I fished a Super Ball from my pack and tossed it up and down a few times, watching as Ripper zipped back and forth to confuse Absol and keep her attention focused on him. Only when I felt she would be completely oblivious to the incoming Ball did I throw it; my plan was to keep her from seeing the Ball and knocking it away or trying to dodge it. With eight Scizor dashing around, I hoped she would be more concerned dodging any possible attacks rather than paying any attention to what I was doing.

Saundra looked like she had seen enough damage done to Absol, but at the same time it also looked like she wasn't quite finished with the battle just yet. Didn't know what she had in mind though; maybe Toxic to try and make Absol a bit easier to capture, but maybe status moves weren't really her style. I wasn't too sure since I missed the better part of her last two battles. I guess all I could do is wait, and see what she was going to do.

“All right, Ripper, you know I know how little you like some of the moves I asked you to use. You’ve been doing an awesome job, though, and now we’re just about done. I promise I’ll make this up to you as soon as we leave. Now let’s wrap this up! Create a distraction for me, if you would please,” Saundra commanded. I couldn't help but wonder what she meant by "create a distraction." As to why she wanted him to I didn't really know either, but if I had to guess I would assume it would be so that Saundra could throw a ball, and attempt to secure the capture now.

Scizor turned, and nodded. It crouched down, and in the blink of an eye it disappeared. It wasn't gone for long however, since it reappeared quickly, only this time there were two of it. It followed suit again, and showed up once more with there being four of it, and one final time leading to eight of it. Now I understood what she meant by distraction. She had wanted her Scizor to use Double Team to confuse the Absol, so that it would keep its eyes on all eight of them, rather than see Saundra throw a ball its way. She reached into her back, and pulled out what appeared to be a Super Ball. Rather than toss is at Absol though she first threw it up and down in her hand a bit first, while keeping her eyes on things. It seemed as though she really wanted to make sure that Absol was distracted by what was going on. Once it seemed to be completely focused she tossed the ball, which sucked in Absol. Despite all the damage there was still a decent amount of resistance from it inside the ball, but well it wasn't enough.

"Good going Saundra. The Super Ball shook rather zealously for a few moments, but eventually it fell still. I blew out a sigh, then grinned as Ripper came over. Ironbeak let out a shrill cry of commendation for his teammate’s effort as Gary went to retrieve the Ball now holding Absol.

"Good going Saundra. I may have missed half of the battle...and essentially your last two, but from what I saw you did a pretty good job here. Haha, sorry about skipping out like I did before, but I'm back now. Course I came back just in time for you to have captured your third Pokemon, so since you've done that, would you like to keep going on in case you were hoping for something different, or would you like me to escort you out of here, and let you collect these three?"

“I think we’ll keep going,” I said, I answered, patting Ripper’s shoulder. “If not for other Pokemon, then to enjoy the scenery and the weather. We don’t really get to get out much and just relax like this, so it’ll be worth it even if we don’t find anything else to catch.” I then focused on Ripper and said, “As for you, I really appreciate you sticking it out for me. Do you wanna stay out for a while or would you prefer to rest for a bit?”

“Zor,” Ripper replied, going over to join Ironbeak. They talked for a moment, and then Ripper flew up and settled on Ironbeak’s back. The raptor gave a shriek before lunging into the air, quickly gaining altitude until he was once again just a large black shape in the sky. Afterward I faced Gary, giving a thumbs-up.

“All right, I’m ready to go when you are.”

Do you wanna stay out for a while or would you prefer to rest for a bit?” Saundra said, and asked her Pokemon. She didn't seem like she was ready to take off just yet, even though she had already captured three pretty nice Pokemon. I guess that made enough sense though since you never knew what would come your way. I remember my brother Eric telling me he went to Mount Oktori, and though he caught a Machop, Sneasel, and Scraggy pretty quickly he hung around. Because of that he also ended up catching a Riolu, and a Mienfoo too. Though Mount Oktori was a much different place than Meteor Valley, and had fewer Pokemon living there.

Saundra had sent her Braviary out there, and it had Scizor hop on its back where it would be carried by him so that it could rest. That was fair enough since, though it hadn't taken a ton of damage, it went through a somewhat fierce battle with Absol only moments ago. At this point now that Braviary was up in the air, Saundra turned to me, and gave a thumbs up before saying, “all right, I’m ready to go when you are.” With that I started leading her along the way again, in the hopes that we would run into something she might want.

We walked along for about fifteen or so minutes, before I felt a chill go down my spine, and I noticed that my Absol had the same feeling. It was the feeling of something all powerful being in the surrounding area. I turned my head, and noticed a set of purple eyes giving a cold stare at us from somewhat behind one of the trees here. This wasn't your natural Pokemon, no, this was one created by science. It's body seemed to be upright in a human sort of way, such as with Gallade, and Gardevoir. It had a grayish-purple body, with a purple underside which connected to a long purple tail. Each arm had what seemed like three fingers. However its most unusual feature was the tube from the back of its skull to its spine. I didn't know if it was another spinal cord, or if it was for transmitting blood and such to the brain to raise its Psychic powers. I guess the only ones who know what it was for where its creators.

"Look at that. It's Mewtwo. I hear this thing is incredibly rare to see."

We walked for several minutes without coming across anything, but I wasn’t too worried about it. I had three good Pokemon already, so if it took a while to come across other Pokemon, I wasn’t going to sweat it. Anyways, the longer the visit took, the more Ironbeak could stretch his wings. It was at that moment I realized that all my Pokemon except Kilia had been given a chance to enjoy the area. I felt a little bad about it and was ready to let her out of her Ball when I got the sensation of being watched. I glanced around. It took me a few moments to spot whatever it was, and when I saw it, I was rather shocked.

“Look at that. It's Mewtwo. I hear this thing is incredibly rare to see," Ebail told me, having also spotted the man-made Pokemon. I simply blinked a few times, but after the initial surprise wore off, I remembered my manners. I’d heard about Mewtwo and his personality. Needless to say, I couldn’t blame him for being leery of humans thanks to what he’d gone through back then. Because of that, I had no way of knowing whether his presence here was due to curiosity, or if it was some kind of warning. I decided to err on the side of caution and make sure the clone understood I was only here to add new Pokemon to my team, not causing any kind of trouble.

“Good afternoon,” I called, hoping the Pokemon was in a good mood and not pondering the quickest way to turn Gary and I into smears in the grass. “I wasn’t expecting to run into a powerful Legend today; I was really only looking forward to finding some new friends, but this is a pleasant surprise.” I then fell silent, sincerely hoping I hadn’t offended the Pokemon by speaking to him directly.

"All right Scizor, now let's wrap things up here with a Quick Attack," Eric commanded. Joe noticed before Eric sent his command, he paused for a second. Joe couldn’t possibly know what he was thinking about but if he had to guess, it would be the decision of using Bullet Punch or Quick Attack. Bullet Punch was a powerful move that allowed the user to strike first most of the time, however if Scizor used Bullet Punch in this situation, it could knock out Munna.

Akinai looked towards her Absol and commanded, “Alright, let's make this next one count, Gaard! Get close with a Bite, and then try another Thunder Wave. After that, be sure to clear out.” It seemed that Akinai’s orders were clear, attack the Pokemon and deal a status. After years of taking trainers threw the park, Joe knew that 90% of the time the trainer would capture the Pokemon after the string of attacks.

Scizor moved first and quickly disappeared in a flash, bolting towards Munna. He outstretched his pincer-like fist and slammed it against Munna, causing the psychic Pokemon even more damage. Joe had to feel sorry for Munna, it had a disadvantage right from the beginning and never really looked frightening for Scizor and Eric. Munna had no energy left to attack and simply lay their on the ground, trying to get up. Joe hoped that Eric would capture it soon so that it can have a good rest.

Gastly, who watched Munna trying to get up, quickly turned his attention to Absol. It seemed the Gas Pokemon almost wanted revenge against Munna and decided to take it out on Absol. The Gas Pokemon suddenly started to form a small black orb in front of his body. The orb slowly increased in size as Gastly fed it energy. Soon the orb was finished and Gaslty launched the orb towards Absol, with every last ounce of energy he had. The orb smashed into the stomach of Absol at blistering speed; however it didn’t hinder Absol one bit. The Disaster Pokemon quickly bounced back from the attack and started to charge towards Gastly. He launched his whole body into the air and revealed his white glossy fangs. Using gravity, Absol fell down onto Gastly and sunk his teeth into the gas body of Gastly. Gastly cried out with pain and tried to get Absol off. Absol quickly removed his fangs and opened his mouth. He started to produce a bright yellow sparking ball in his mouth. Gastly was in too much pain to retaliate and watched as Absol fired the orb into his body.

The orb expanded, paralysing the ghost Pokemon. Absol jumped back next to Akinai and sat down, taking a well earned rest. Both trainers simultaneously took out a Parkball and held it in their hands. They both threw their capturing devices towards the tired beaten Pokemon. Each Pokemon disappeared into the balls and the balls started to roll from side to side. Then two soft clicks broke the tension. Joe smiled and walked forward and picked up both balls. He placed the Gastly in his right pocket and the Munna in his left, hoping that he didn’t mix them up later on.

He turned to his trainers and said, “Congratulations. We will carry on walking on your command.”

“Congratulations. We will carry on walking on your command,” Joe turned, and said after witnessing our double capture. It wasn't easy, but we secured a capture. Akinai got herself a fresh new Gastly, and I got a Munna that I was ninety percent sure I would end up trading to someone else. But hey for now I just turned to Akinai, and smiled. It was nice that we both managed to capture a Pokemon so early.

"You did good Scizor, now you can take a rest in case I need you later on," I said as I returned it to its Pokeball. "I'm ready to keep going whenever you are Akinai," I said as I looked at her.

Saundra was surprised to see Mewtwo here. I mean it wasn't every day you would run into a Legendary Pokemon, and especially not one this powerful. “Good afternoon, I wasn’t expecting to run into a powerful Legend today; I was really only looking forward to finding some new friends, but this is a pleasant surprise,” Saundra said to Mewtwo. She was either one of the bravest people I have ever met, or she was completely out of her mind. Both seemed pretty plausible for her. Still though if she wasn't too careful this Mewtwo might start trying to attack us, and it would take every Pokemon we had to hold it back.

We got lucky, however because it appeared to be uninterested in us. Mewtwo just scoffed at Saundra, and like that it disappeared in an instant by jumping off. It was too bad that Saundra didn't happen to have a camera on hand though, since a picture of a Legendary Pokemon would bring in some good money. Maybe she didn't care about the money, or maybe she just never bother getting around to buying a camera. Well either way what was done was done, and we could once again continue along the way, and see if she runs into anything she wanted.

I was about to lead her along, but another Pokemon came out of hiding, and appeared before us. I guess it was drawn here by the presence of Mewtwo's incredible energy, since this too was a Psychic-type Pokemon. When you took a good look at it it looked like what you would think a space alien would look like. It was mostly brown in color, though its eyes were green, and it had a red, green, and yellow finger like bump on its arm. Its head looked like it was partly caved in on the sides, but that didn't mean it had a small brain. Apparently these things could erase, or rewrite opponents memories.

As Gastly was sucked into the Parkball, Akinai took a look over to see if Eric had decided to capture his opponent as well. Sure enough, the Munna was currently struggling in an identical capture device. The two spheres rocked back and forth for a moment, but eventually both ceased movement as the capture was successful.

As Joe pocketed the two Pokemon, he turned to Eric and Akinai. “Congratulations. We will carry on walking on your command,” he said.

Akinai nodded and looked over at Gaard, trying to decide if now would be the best time to heal the Absol or if he would be able to take a few more hits. While she could just call out Zen and have him heal Gaard in no time, the Gallade's reluctance to be here in the Valley meant that he would most likely not be happy being called out just yet. Plus, she did have other members to fall back on if needed.

Eric acted first, congratulating his Scizor before recalling the Bug-type back. "I'm ready to keep going whenever you are Akinai," he said, looking over.

“Got it,” Akinai replied, recalling Gaard for now. She nodded over at Joe and Eric, showing that she was ready to head out.

Well, Mewtwo didn’t seem overly enthusiastic about my addressing him. If anything he appeared somewhat haughty, scoffing at my greeting before vanishing. I sighed and shrugged, more to myself than Gary.

“Well, he certainly wasn’t overjoyed that I decided to talk to him, but I guess what really matters is he didn’t decide to try and send us to the moon or something,” I said, mostly thinking out loud and not really expecting a response. I shrugged again and then dug around for Kilia’s PokeBall. Because Mewtwo was a Psychic Pokemon and weak to Dark, I had waited to release the Absol from her Ball in order to avoid any unwanted confrontation from the Legend. Now that he was gone, I felt it safe to let my Pokemon out for a little fresh air.

“All right, girl, it’s your turn,” I said, finally pulling out her Ball and releasing her from it. Kilia formed in a burst of intense white light, and the moment she was out she started to flounce around like an overgrown puppy. It only took her a moment to notice Gary’s Absol; with an impressive amount of exuberance, she bounced over to him and crouched down, playfully swatting at the other Absol’s front legs. I chuckled at her antics, hoping neither Gary nor his Absol would mind Kilia’s rather hyperactive rambunctiousness.

And then, quite suddenly, Kilia became serious. She bolted upright, head slightly tilted to the side, and then she trotted in front of me just as a bizarre-looking Pokemon made itself visible before us. Kilia must have sensed the Pokemon’s presence, and now she was staring at it with an unreadable expression. After a moment she slowly sat down, her tail twitching in the grass as she fixed the strange Pokemon with her stare.

"Did you happen to want a Beheeyem?" Gary asked a moment later. I glanced at him, then looked back at the levitating brown Pokemon that was floating a few feet away. I wasn’t as familiar with these Pokemon as I was a lot of the other Unova Pokemon, but I did know they were relatively bulky and had an impressive Special Attack stat. Not only that, but they were capable of using some interesting moves, such as Wonder Room and Trick Room. I thought about it for a few moments, comparing the Pokemon to the three I already owned.

Sableye was definitely a keeper. My friend, who was the main reason I was here in the first place, would literally eat me alive if she found out I’d caught a nice Ghost Pokemon, only to let it go for a Psychic. Absol was also a worthy catch, one I could easily find a good home for in exchange for further expanding my party. Ralts, however, were rather common. Like Beheeyem, they were pure Psychic Pokemon, but unlike Beheeyem, a Gardevoir wasn’t quite as good at stalling or absorbing damage. Most of the Pokemon I had were geared towards striking hard and fast, so having a Pokemon that could tank would definitely be a good addition to the team.

“I think we’ll go for it,” I said a moment later. I then patted Kilia’s horn, adding, “What do you say, girl? Up for a battle?”

“Sol!” Kilia exclaimed, leaping to her paws and taking a battle stance. Anyone else might be thrown off by her quirky personality, but I’d known her long enough to be used to it. I was glad she was up to it; being a Dark Pokemon, she was best suited to taking on a Pokemon like Beheeyem since Ripper was resting from his previous battle with Absol. She would be immune to its various Psychic moves, and she’d be able to strike hard with her own Dark attacks. Even though Beheeyem was bulky, I knew its Defense wasn’t as good as its Special Defense, and on top of that, Kilia’s Super Luck would let us get around the Pokemon’s bulk either way.

“All right!” I said, moving back a bit to give the two Pokemon some space. “Let’s kick this off with a Faint Attack, and while you’re at it, toss in a Thunder Wave!” Kilia barked in response and crouched ever so slightly, then surged forward with a powerful leap. It only took two of these jumps for her to reach Beheeyem’s shadow, and the second she landed she seemed to vanish. I knew she was still there; using the powers over darkness most Dark Pokemon possessed, she was warping Beheeyem’s shadow to effectively render herself invisible. In a few moments she would pop back into view, right in front of Beheeyem to try and startle it, and give it a solid whack with her horn while it was (hopefully) stunned.

But there was something more about this attack. I’d discovered quite by accident how much Kilia enjoyed doing this, but when she was hiding in a Pokemon’s shadow, she would charge up her Thunder Wave and electrify her horn, then condense the electricity into an orb and fire it at the foe before moving in to finish up her Faint Attack. There was typically no sensation when struck with a Thunder Wave, no real impact to feel, so to the victim it was almost like their own shadow was paralyzing them.

If Ripper hated being sneaky, then Kilia was his exact opposite. She preferred being indirect and unpredictable in battle; it always amazed me how well they got along, considering their massive personality differences. Well, normally anyways; I’d found out the hard way that even though they were on friendly terms with each other, their preferences in battling made it virtually impossible for them to work together with any efficiency.

IC: “Well, he certainly wasn’t overjoyed that I decided to talk to him, but I guess what really matters is he didn’t decide to try and send us to the moon or something,” Saundra said after Mewtwo took off. I couldn't help but wonder if she was actually talking to me, to her Pokemon, or if she was maybe just thinking out loud. I figured it was just best if I didn't say anything in response. She then pulled out her Absol's Pokeball, and sent it out. I guess she wanted to wait for Mewtwo to be gone, so that a conflict wouldn't have ended up starting. Don't know how it would have though, unless her Absol made the first move, since Mewtwo knew mine was right here.

“I think we’ll go for it. What do you say, girl? Up for a battle?” Saundra asked her Absol, as she patted it on its horn. It quickly took a battle stance by leaping to its paws, like it was really looking forward to the battle at hand. This was a smart choice, seeing as how, if I remembered right mind you, Scizor had gone through two battles, and Venomoth went through one. This meant that Saundra had one more Pokemon with a type advantage she hadn't used yet, and that just so happened to be her beloved Absol. Can't forget about its ability too, Super Luck, which made critical hits land more easily, and more often. So basically any move she used could have the potential to do double the damage. While this was handy, it could also backfire later on. She would need to be careful as the battle goes on.

“All right! Let’s kick this off with a Faint Attack, and while you’re at it, toss in a Thunder Wave!” Saundra commanded, as she took a couple of steps back so that these two Pokemon had some more room for their battle. She didn't appear like she wanted to pull any punches. She was going to instantly shoot for a status so that Beheeyem would be slower, possibly not have a chance to attack, and the part that she cared about, it would be easier to capture once it came time to throw a ball. Well I couldn't really argue with her logic, since it seemed pretty flawless so far.

First up was Faint Attack. The user would generally drop their guard, and walk towards the foe as though they weren't going to do anything. But then as they got close enough to the foe, they would throw a sucker punch. This punch would be thrown so close that there was no chance of it missing, short of the opposing Pokemon using Protect. Of course though it seemed Saundra's Absol was slightly different in using this attack. By that I meant that it appeared as though she intended to combine the two moves she was told to use, and fire them both at about the same time.

Absol took a jump, and landed on Beheeyem's shadow, before it vanished. Of course it wasn't really gone, it was just using its energy to conceal itself. When it reappeared in front of Beheeyem its horn appeared as though it had been filled with electricity, and an orb of energy showed up in front of it. While Absol was hidden it clearly charged up its Thunder Wave, unbeknownst to its foe. It hit Beheeyem, and before the energy even had a chance to spread through its body, Absol threw its punch and knocked it into the ground.

It slowly got back up, though now you could see that the paralysis took no time in spreading throughout it. Though this did technically put the Psychic-type at a disadvantage, it also seemed to give it an idea. It charged up its only sphere of electricity in front of itself, and released a powerful blast of energy from it. Beheeyem was using Thunderbolt, the most commonly seen Electric-type move, and one that could cause a par. Fortunately for Absol it was able to avoid part of the attack, and only get its back legs clipped by it. But this was still enough to cause it to get down, and try to shake the pain off. Since she already took care of a status, I had to wonder what Saundra would do from here on out.

Kilia managed to pull off one of her most beloved combos with ease, flawlessly landing her Thunder Wave and her Faint Attack. As she was propelled away from Beheeyem by the momentum of her attack, however, the Psychic recovered enough to fire off a Thunderbolt. Luckily, the Electric attack only clipped Kilia’s hind legs, but she let out a sharp yip of pain as she landed. She danced about for a moment, her paws and legs clearly smarting from the glancing blow, but by no means was she ready to call it quits.

“Okay Kilia, what do you say we show this fella how creative you can get?” I asked, and Kilia shot me what could only be described as a slightly maniacal grin. If it was one thing she loved, it was really messing with her foe’s mind and doing whatever it took to keep them reeling in confusion. Her…slightly ecstatic personality made it easy for her to think up ways of damaging the foe while leaving them absolutely confounded. All I had to do was provide her with her commands and she’d take care of the rest of it.

“Right, let’s see what you can make happen with a Hidden Power, followed by a Flamethrower!” I said with a small smile. I liked challenging Kilia with different moves, not only because it would stimulate her quirky nature, but because I rather enjoyed seeing just what crazy schemes she could come up with. Like I said, I’d only discovered her sneaky Faint Attack-Thunder Wave combo by accident, after having given her those commands in a battle once. Ever since then, it was almost never the same battle twice with her, since I preferred giving her different combos to try. The rare exception was cases like this, where I knew she liked a certain combo and it fit the situation.

Kilia let out a howl that sounded just a little crazed, throwing her head back and swinging her horn madly. She then heaved herself onto her back paws, lashing at the air with her and continuing to yowl. She tottered back and forth on her hind legs for a moment, whipping her front paws through the air and generally looking like she’d gone absolutely nuts. After a few moments she fell back onto all fours and abruptly fell still; after a second of standing there without so much as breathing, Kilia twitched her head to the left. Her tail twitched at the same time and to the same degree as the horn on her head, and at that moment, mild chaos literally erupted from the ground under Beheeyem.

Jagged stones burst up out of the ground, and with them came thick clumps of grass, weeds, roots, and dirt. This was Kilia’s Hidden Power, which for her was Ground-type. As the rocks blasted up into the air, Kilia moved on to her second command. She threw her chest out, pulling her head and shoulder back as she began to inhale. She sucked in so much air her chest visibly swelled, and for a moment it seemed like she’d keep breathing in until she popped. But then she closed her mouth, and though her back was to me, I knew the look of intense concentration that creased her face when she was preparing a Flamethrower.

After two or three seconds, Kilia’s jaws suddenly dropped open, and an impressive gout of crimson and saffron flames emerged from her throat. The heat from the Flamethrower was strong enough to reach me as it tore itself from Kilia’s gaping jaws, but the sudden warmth didn’t distract me from a very important fact. Kilia’s Flamethrower wasn’t aimed at Beheeyem; instead, it struck the mass of thickly overgrown stones that her earlier Hidden Power had unearthed.

The moment Kilia’s Flamethrower touched the foliage ensnaring the Hidden Power (which was still going, mind you; the rocks were continuing to shoot into the air the whole time Kilia was preparing and using her Flamethrower), the plant matter burst into roaring flames. I was surprised at the intensity of the blaze and realized what Kilia’s wonderfully unpredictable mind had come up with. Flamethrower itself was a powerful move, so powerful that a critical hit scored from her Super Luck might do too much damage. Instead of using the attack directly and risking a critical blow, Kilia was using her Hidden Power to deliver just as powerful an attack, only via an indirect manner. In this way, she could better avoid striking any vulnerable areas, thus reducing her chances of scoring an unwanted critical strike.

I was so caught up in watching Kilia do her thing that I almost missed Ironbeak perching in the same tree Mewtwo had been behind. I glanced over in time to see Ripper’s head pop up over Ironbreak’s; the Scizor crossed his arms on top of Ironbeak’s head, resting what could be called his chin on his arms as he and his feathery ride watched their companion doing what she did best.

OOC: I thought Beheeyem was Genderless lol. Ah well, make it Male. Also, I think I got a bit too carried away describing Kilia's combo, but it just seemed so cool in my head and I sorta got into story mode ^_^'...sorry.

OOC: It's cool, better to go crazy with it, rather than not, and not be interesting.

IC: “Okay Kilia, what do you say we show this fella how creative you can get?” Saundra asked her Absol. It was certainly a creative way of doing a battle, by leaving the moves done up to the Pokemon itself. I had actually seen this in another run recently with an individual named Jay. He told his Alakazam to do whatever it had wanted against the Mincinno it was up against. In that case it ended up picking Psychic, but in this case it looked like Absol was going to confirm things with her owner, before she actually went ahead and made a move.

“Right, let’s see what you can make happen with a Hidden Power, followed by a Flamethrower!” Saundra commanded. This was a relatively interesting combo, since Absol weren't particularly known for being the best Special Attackers, despite having a relatively nice amount of those moves. But hey doing the unexpected always made a battle nice and interesting.

Absol started off by going....well kind of nuts. I had no idea what Hidden Power it had, since a Pokemon's Hidden Power could be any one of sixteen types when it came to damage. The only type it couldn't end up being was the Normal-type. While I may not have known what the specific type was here I could only assume that it wasn't one of the types from some moves she had, namely Flamethrower, and Thunderbolt since if it was the Electric-type should would have been better off using Thunderbolt anyway since it was more powerful. I also figured it wasn't Psychic, or Fighting-typed since those types wouldn't do a whole lot to a Psychic-type. My curiosity was answered when Absol stopped acting like a nutcase, the ground started to erupt from under Beheeyem. This could have only meant that Hidden Power's type was Ground, and so Absol, rather than using the energy in its body to just manipulate a Ground-type attack from its body, actually used the ground itself to attack. The ground that came up was full of stones, clumps of grass, and dirt, and it all slammed against the Psychic-type, causing it to fall back a few feet in pain.

Only mere seconds after it was done doing this attack, Absol jumped back a couple of feet, threw her upper body out, and took a deep breath. She had sucked in so much air, that you could actually see her chest expand out. A few seconds later she turned her head back at Beheeyem, and released a powerful blast of flames. She was using Flamethrower, it was basically the Fire-type equivalent of the Thunderbolt we saw earlier, only instead of having a chance to cause a paralysis, it could instead cause a burn. Absol spit the flames directly towards Beheeyem, and there was nothing the Psychic-type could do about this since it was still pretty off balance from the previous attack.

It was hurt, but this creature wasn't throwing in the towel just yet. It turned its attention to the freshly dug up ground from where Hidden Power was used, and it saw some stones, or rocks that had been formed because of it. It then used its psychic energy to pick those stones up, and it hurled them directly at Absol. It was using Rock Slide, a move where the user would make a wave of rocks come crashing down on you, in an attempt to make the Pokemon it would be hitting flinch. The rocks were coming close, but they couldn't be thrown at full enough power, since Beheeyem had lost whatever speed it had between being paralyzed, and damaged. This gave Absol an ample amount of time to attempt to dodge the attack. Of course no close range, which also covers a large area, attack is completely unavoidable, and so it was smacked by a couple of the rocks, giving it some minor damage. Absol was able to more or less quickly shake it off though, and once again turned its attention to her foe. Things were looking pretty one sided so far, but hey anything could happen, and the tide of a battle could shift in an instant.

Eric looked towards his Scizor and said, "You did good Scizor, now you can take a rest in case I need you later on.” He removed a small red and white ball and returning the huge steel Pokemon. "I'm ready to keep going whenever you are Akinai," Eric stated as he turned around and looked at Akinai.

Akinai returned her Absol into his Pokeball and turned to Eric and Joe, saying “Got it.” Joe nodded and led the group down the dark cave. He stretched his legs as he walked since his legs were all stiff after standing around for quiet a while. Joe looked up to his shoulder and noticed that Murkrow calmly sitting there. It seemed that someone got a little bit tired watching the battle.

As they walked through the cave, Joe suddenly heard a small noise up ahead; it sounded like either a Pokemon was having an argument with itself, or it was two Pokemon having an argument with each other. They walked a couple of metres before the voices became clearer. Joe noticed up ahead was a pair of two Ghost Pokemon and it looked like they were fighting over a small stone. It was a dark purple colour and caught the eye of Joe. Joe noticed that the stone was a Dusk Stone, which evolved only a certain amount of Pokemon. Joe turned his attention to the two Pokemon. One was a small purple Pokemon, with small red beads circling around its neck. It had a pair of dark red eyes that were fixed on the Dusk Stone. The other Pokemon was small and black; and seemed to be holding onto a small facemask with its shadowy limbs. It seemed that they had walked into an argument between a Misdreavus and a Yamask. It felt strange for a Yamask to be fighting for a Dusk Stone, since it had no need for one; whereas Misdreavus needs a Dusk Stone to evolve.

Joe turned to Eric and Akinai and said, “Do either of you want to battle these Pokemon?”

We kept walking through the cave for a few moments, before Joe seemed to hear a noise, and so he went up to investigate. It appeared to be two Pokemon fighting over a stone, and a Dusk Stone if I saw correctly. I got my hopes up, because I thought maybe it was going to be some nice Pokemon fighting over it, but it just turned out to be nothing of interest.

“Do either of you want to battle these Pokemon?” Joe asked, looking at Yamask, and Misdreavus.

"I'm fairly certain I speak for the both of us when I say no thanks. These things are both pretty common, so let's try to escape. If we manage to fail I'll just use one of my Pokedolls so that the two of us can get away," I said, as I reached into my bag and pulled out a Pokedoll. I didn't even need to ask Akinai, cause I could just already tell she had zero interest in these two things.
