Individual Run: Synthesis (Enigma Ruins)

BP #12

Click. One simple sound that signified a capture and the end of a battle. One simple sound, two meanings. When James threw the Super Ball after telling his Froslass to hang in there, Aleria held her breath. Hopefully the click would happen. If not, who knew how much more that Froslass could take? Her own strategy had been used against her thanks to the Wailmer's craftiness, and she, in addition to his Jolteon and Jynx, needed to be healed too.

Then again, Aleria wouldn't mind if the Jynx just suffered for the rest of her pitiful, ugly life. But that was cruel, and she wouldn't say that out loud to James.

Three shakes and a click was what the Super Ball did, and when that click sounded, Aleria picked up the ball and put it in her bag. "Nice work. You wanna go on, or are you done for the day? You can still catch one more Pokemon if you wanna keep looking."

The Pokeball soared through the air before hitting the blubbery beast. It bounced off of Wailmer's round head and rebounded back into the air, sucking the Water type Pokemon inside. The ball fell to the ground where it wriggled around for a few seconds, ebfore eventually stopping. The super ball gave off a clicking sound, indicating that the Wailmer had been successfully caught.

"Nice work. You wanna go on, or are you done for the day? You can still catch one more Pokemon if you wanna keep looking." Aleria said, picking up the Pokeball.

"We have three, which is really good, but I'd be even happier with just one more. Let's keep looking!"

NBP #14

If there was another Pokemon in these ruins that James wanted to catch, Aleria would be one pretty lucky girl. Very lucky, even.

Nevertheless, their next encounter didn't take too long to show up. A blue mouse with a white belly and a black zig-zag tail that ended in a matching blue ball bounced towards them. It bounced on its tail, and by the look in its eyes, it was ready to fight. Clearly, the Marill before them didn't enjoy having its territory bothered. Or maybe it was sleeping, and the commotion of the battle had woken it up; Aleria could relate to that. She hated being woken up too.

"Want a Marill?"

It was only after catching the blubbery Wailmer that I had realised I had gone against my solemn oath as a trainer and abandoned my intial attempts at reffing a Free For All battle for Aleria and some friends but I had Breaking Bad to watch at the time! An acceptable excuse of course. Just a few seconds later, we encountered yet another Water type Pokemon. This one was a little blue water mouse with a large round tail and a white belly.

"Want a Marill?" Aleria asked me.

"Nah, that thing's gonna be a fairy. Do I look like a fairy lover to you?!" I demanded. "I can pay 500 from my 43,250 if needed to escape this wretched beast!"

 

NBP #15

And yet another chain of rejections was about to begin. Marill was the first. Aleria couldn't say what the remaining encounters would be, but she could probably bet money that they too would be rejections just like this Marill. Shame it was going to gain a Fairy type soon. Silly researchers in the rising Kalos region. Couldn't do anything right, messing with her Pokemon and everything.

Marill bounced happily once, saying the name of its species in excitement before bouncing away. No doll needed, thankfully. With the little blue mouse gone, Aleria led the way along the beachfront. They would encouter something sooner or later, and perhaps it would be something James wanted to catch.

Or maybe it would be another rejection.

Aleria stopped when she saw a grey and blue Pokemon floating maybe an inch above the sand. It sat with its legs in a pretzel fashion, and its grey head reminded Aleria of the bulb on a Bulbasaur's back. "Meditite," she said, more to herself than to James. The Pokemon had a name after all. "You want one or are we going to be on rejection number two in a row?"

We were able to flee from the cute. yet ugly little blue Water type Pokemon Marill. Afterwards, we continued to make our way along the sand, until we had encountered our next Pokemon. This Pokemon was eerily human-like and I was a little intrigued to see it floating a few inches above the soft sand below. It was definitely a Psychic type Pokemon, but I wasn't very familiar with it.

"Meditite. You want one or are we going to be on rejection number two in a row?"

I paused for a minute, having to think about this decission carefully. After this Pokemon, I'd have three encounters left. This Pokemon was obviously reasonable rare, but it still unsettled me too much to want to battle it.

"Nah, it looks too much like a kid. I hate kids. I've got 43,250 if we can't manage to escape though," I note.

 

NBP #16

Two. Two in a row. Meditite was rejection number Aleria didn't know overall, but the second in a row. She shook her head. Meditite was good. If she could catch it, she'd give it to her friend. It was a nice Psychic and Fighting type, perfect for a gym leader of Saffron City's gym.

But this wasn't her run. This was James' run, and he was rejecting the poor Meditite. Aleria started to walk away, and they were able to successfully walk past the Meditite without it even knowing they were there. It was probably lost in its meditation. But it didn't take long for their next encounter to show up. A little brown puppy ran up to them, and it put its front paws on Aleria's legs. Cutest Lillipup ever.

But Aleria couldn't get too attached. She could bet money that James would want to run from it. "Want a Lillipup or am I safe in assuming we'll be leaving this poor, cute puppy here?"

Luckily enough we were able to sneak past the creepy child-like Pokemon. Its eyes remained shut as we walked by it but I was certain that it sensed our presence as most Psychic type Pokemon seemed able to constantly do. I had a few Psychic type Pokemon that liked to be creeps and do this, mainly my voluptuous Jynx. As we kept walking, a little puppy charged towards us. It began leaping at us and I started to sneeze.

"Want a Lillipup or am I safe in assuming we'll be leaving this poor, cute puppy here?"

"Sorry," I said, sneezing. "Allergies... Achoo! Better try an-achoo! We should run-achoo! I have 43,250-achoo!"

 

NBP #17

Three in a row. And it was a poor, cute, innocent puppy too. Still, James didn't want it, which means they had to go; he was lucky he had allergies. Aleria spotted a stick, and she picked it up. "Here, puppy. Here, little guy. Go fetch!" And she threw the stick, watching it soar in the air. Lillipup chased after it. Typical dog instinct.

But Aleria wouldn't find out if it would return or not. The environment changed, and they were back on a nice, warm mountain. Lame. Aleria enjoyed the beach. At least their next encounter was right there. A yellow Pokemon with black hands was lifting some rocks, creating some sort of pile. Aleria raised an eyebrow, but she wasn't really going to ask why. Pokemon were strange. "You want a Makuhita?"

As I was sneezing away, Aleria managed to make out what I was saying. She picked up a stick that she saw lying on the beach. "Here, puppy. Here, little guy. Go fetch!" she shouted, tossing the stick. As soon as the little dog type darted off, the terrain began to change arround us once more. Soon we were in a warm mountainous region. I was kind of getting used to these odd terrain changes, but it was still a little weird.

I saw a small yellow creature with black boxing gloves. He looked up at us, and shouted "Maku!" excitedly, sparring the air with his gloves. He was chubby and adorable, but I still could probably find one other Pokemon today. Makuhita was coolish, but what if the remaining Pokemon was awesome.

"Ugh, let's try and escape. I have 43,250 still if it's needed. I even kinda like this chubby donut thing..."

 

NBP #18

Makuhita rejected. There was now only one more Pokemon James could reject, and they would be meeting it soon. He would either love this last Pokemon, or he'd hate it.

Aleria was thinking as if she knew what the last Pokmeon was already. She didn't. Each new Pokemon was a surprise to her. With a shrug, she watched the Makuhita turn to them, fight with the air, and say the name of its species before going back to piling rocks. Aleria took the opportunity to lead James into the cave. As they walked into the cave, a purple glow caught Aleria's attention. She released her Chandelure again, and the purple flames illuminated the gothic style Pokemon. "A Gothorita? You want it? It's the last Pokemon you can try and catch today."
