    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

“I'll pass on this one, Ivy,” Chris said. “I know Diglett are fast, but perhaps it might leave if we leave in peace!” he added hopefully. Ivy had her own doubts about the situation. Wild Pokemon never behaved like they should.

She tried to creep toward the cavern, but it didn't work, just as she suspected. Diglett were just too fast. Before they could even travel a foot in distance, the little mole had already popped underground, tunneled over to them, and popped back up in front. Some Pokemon didn't like to be left. Persistent buggers.

Thankfully, Chris didn't have a qualm about using another Pokedoll, and she gladly threw one down for the Diglett as she ticked another mark on her phone under the doll category. The wild Pokemon took the Clefairy-shaped plush happily, dragging it underground as it disappeared from view.

Ivy let out a sigh of relief. Now they could continue on.

She ducked through the darkness with ease, stepping swiftly but carefully over the rocky terrain. The best way to traverse the caves was to be relaxed, and if you tripped, to move into it and let your body catch up. It didn't hurt to stay close to one of the walls to brace a hand either, which was her most common technique. Falling on your face in these tunnels wasn't very pleasant. At least she didn't have any Trainers that always ran into her, like she had in the Woods that one time.

A crumbling sound made her stop. She listened closely, hoping to whoever was listening that they would not be victim to a cave-in. That usually signaled volcanic activity, and she did not want to be stuck here if that happened. It would be much more dangerous here than in the Valley. She felt Haji's ears perk next to her, and soon he relaxed. She did too.

As she listened closer, she noticed that the sound was rhythmic and steady. She edged around a corner in the path and discovered it opened up into a room of some sort. She could feel the difference in the air around them. She took out a flashlight clipped to her belt and pointed it upward before turning it on, so it didn't blind anyone. The light didn't illuminate too much, but it helped.

Standing on a platform next to a cluster of rocks was a bipedal pig in some sort of fighting gear. It was all red with dashes of black. A Pignite. It stopped what it was doing as the light came on. It must've been smashing the rocks.

Ivy turned back to Chris and asked, “What about this one?”

As we crept towards the cavern Diglett was too fast. It then popped back up from beneath the ground and did not want to leave. Ivy seemed to know this would happen because she was a professional in the Park. I gave Ivy the option to throw a Pokedoll and the Clefairy plush dragged Diglett away. “Poor Diglett, I do feel sorry for it, but I have no interest for it here. “That was a lucky break here!”

We started to walk and sudden crumble went on the ground. I noticed Haji’s ears perk up strangely. I looked around quickly and was kind of worried a volcano was about to rocket its peak and erupt! Then out of nowhere a light flashed and a cluster of rocks plat formed. It was a Pignite! “Oh no, not more fire Pokemon! “ I shouted.

Ivy turned to me and said “What about this one?”

I must press on and ignore this one!” I shouted. “Ivy, I want to run if possible, if not I would like to buy a Pokedoll again!” I was kinda worried Pignite might get angry because all Pokemon were unpredictable!

Chris wasn't interested in the Pignite. In fact, she could faintly make out a distasteful look on his face from encountering it. Maybe he had a bad run-in with one once or something. Shrugging, she waited to see what the wild Pokemon would do.

Thankfully, this one wasn't as persistent as the Diglett outside. It seemed content to go back to smashing the collection of rocks once it had looked them over. There was already a fair size of crumbled ones off to their left, and there was a stack waiting on the right.

Ivy led them on, moving the flashlight down so they could see ahead. There were a series of splits up ahead and she wanted to be sure which ones she was taking. The GPS in her phone didn't tend to work very well down here, and she wasn't about to get them lost. The light ruined her night vision, but then again, the cave was almost too dark to really see much anyway.

Down they went as she took then down turns and tunnels. She felt the temperature drop a little more, so she knew they were going the right way. It was much nicer in here than outside in the blasting sun, even if the air was a little clammy.

Soon she caught a sparkle ahead, and she turned off the flashlight. She followed the glow, and soon the hallway opened up into another room. This one provided its own light, though she wasn't exactly sure where it came from. Maybe there was some kind of moss growing here. There were different stones and minerals embedded into the walls, and they were shining in light blues, greens, and purples. It was pretty peaceful.

Light shined brighter off of something else too, and when she got a closer look, she found that it was a Lairon. The four-footed Pokemon had steel plates all along its back, and its head was even covered in the silver armor. She knew a couple people that wanted one.

    “What about this one, Chris?”

Luckily for me Pignite had walked off and seemed pretty content. Therefore, allowing me to progress further through Mt.Deckbi. It had left some crumbled rocks behind and I was quite glad I did not have to rumble with Pignite either.

“That was a lucky escape!” I shouted to Ivy. She had started to move on and led with her flashlight ahead. I walked slowly behind her and Haji and noticed splits up ahead. However, Ivy looked a little distracted on which way to go. I worried that it had gotten too dark for my liking. I am normally fine with the dark, however not in a strange place I have never been before.

“This is kind of scary,” I said, and shivered a little. Ivy took me down some tunnels and the temperature dropped. I started to shiver some more. Then, we followed a sparkle ahead and she turned off her flashlight. I wondered what was up ahead, and perhaps the mountain was probably a better place to go to. Ivy entered the glow and opened us up into another room. I was worried what the other light was inside this area and it was quite quiet with a lot of stones. Suddenly, a light shined brightly into my eyes. It was a Lairon, which was Steel Pokemon.

“It’s amazing how Lairon lives in this cave!” I shouted and it echoed. Ivy turned to me and said.

“What about this one, Chris?” I was kind of fond of Aggron in the media; however I did not feel the need to capture one at this moment in time. Therefore, I wanted to move on with my journey a little more. “Ivy, let’s move on if possible. It’s peaceful where it is, and I do not wanna cause destruction or take it away from here.”

I looked at Ivy and wanted to move on. “If this fails a Pokedoll shall be purchased!” I said to Ivy.

    $55000 - $500 = $54500

“Ivy, let's move on if possible,” Chris said in response to the Ranger's question. “It's peaceful where it is, and I do not wanna cause destruction or take it away from here.”

It was true that this place was pretty nice, with the shining stones and whatnot. She liked coming down this way whenever she could. Since Trainers mostly opted to go up the side of the mountain, that wasn't very often. Chris said he'd like to use another Pokedoll if they couldn't get away, and she nodded.

Haji stepped ahead of her, toward the only other tunnel leaving the room, and she moved to follow him until the Larion moved. It breathed heavily, and the air that came out of its nose caused the dust to fan up around its head. It moved one of its front feet in a scraping motion, and Ivy stopped to stand still. A lot of creatures made that motion right before they were going to charge.

“Alright, looks like we're going to have to use a doll. If that thing hits one of the walls, things could get ugly real fast.” She made another mark on the spreadsheet on her phone as she pulled another of the Clefairy-shaped toys out of her vest pocket. She pulled the string to inflate it and then tossed it toward the Steel-type, hoping it would be enough to distract it.

She waved Chris forward as she started to move again, and thankfully she didn't hear anything pursuing them. After leaving the room with the jewels, they were enclosed in darkness again, and Ivy switched on her flashlight again. There weren't too many splits in the path coming up, but one never knew if a Pokemon or something else would come up.

The path was still slanting a little downward, but she knew where they were going. Soon, bright flashes were reflecting off the walls from a room ahead. The walls were tinted a red-orange in short bursts. Curious, they went to check it out.

A Magby was practicing fire breathing in a corner of the next room, taking a huge gulp of air before exhaling all in one motion. It appeared that it couldn't hold the fire stream for very long. It was probably working on its endurance.

“Well, here's contestant... whatever number we're on,” she said to Chris. She probably didn't have to ask the question at this point.

I watched Haji step in front of Ivy in the direction of another tunnel, which seemed to leave room into a more darkness like room. I must admit I was getting a little scared inside these caves; however I do not want to let Ivy know I am scared… My Pokedoll had been placed by ivy on cave floor and she said.

“Alright, looks like we’re going to have to use a doll. If that thing hits on of the walls, things could get ugly real fast.” Therefore, stopped the charging Lairon. Ivy waved me over and we were on the move again! Suddenly, I noticed a flash of light beam up and it was from Ivy’s torch. The cave seemed very dark the further we went in.

“This path is sure a dark one,” I whispered quietly. This was because I did not want to wake up any unsuspecting Pokemon. The flashlight reflected off the rooms ahead and I noticed red-orange bursts inside the cave deeper. Ivy led me forward into the cave; I started to feel much move nervous.

“Oh wow a Magby,” I said. It was exhaling flames and practicing its technique.

Ivy turned to me and said. “Well, here’s contestant… whatever number we’re on.” I must admit I like Magby, but I already have a Magmortar. Therefore, it was that fun time to run again! I know I feel like I am running away too frequent because I want to experience my Deckbi Adventure to the max.

“Ivy, sorry to do this again, but I would like to leave Magby to its training.” I turned to Ivy and said. “Please take me somewhere else.” If it does not work I prepared my money for another Pokedoll.

    2500 – 500 = 2000.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Chris wasn't interested in this one either. Ivy was hoping they could leave without a fuss. She watched the small Fire-type breathe out another stream of flames, and this time it lasted longer than all the others they had witnessed.

“Nice job,” Ivy said to it with a smile.

The little Magby looked up with a smile of its own, its eyes crinkling shut in joy. It clapped its hands together and kept practicing, kindly blowing the fire away from the group so it didn't burn them.

Ivy took that as a cue that the little one wanted to keep up its training, so she quietly stepped down the path and out of the small room. Thankfully, it didn't try to follow them, proving her suspicions correct.

The tunnel returned to darkness, and she flipped on the flashlight again. The path was getting a lot smoother over here, and she knew why. The walkway also dipped down a little again, and she knew they were close to where she wanted to take the Trainer. Soon, a small cut-out of the wall came up. There was a path that kept continuing on, but she made them stop.

“Look here,” she said, pointing to the opening. It showed a hole about two feet wide, and the path angled down steeply into the darkness. The floor was worn smooth though, and so were the walls. They weren't going to sustain any injuries at least. She nodded her head toward the path. “Come on,” she said with a smile.

She didn't wait to see his reaction. Instead, she switched off the light and clipped it back to her belt while putting her boot onto the makeshift slide. Haji jumped up in front of her, and then he was whooshing down. Ivy didn't wait long before she slid the rest of her body on the slide, and down she went, leaving Chris to follow.

She hit the ground with a thunk, and she felt the dust flare up under her feet as she landed. She waved her arm to clear it as she stepped to the side to get out of the Trainer's way. When she heard him land, she looked up to the top of the room they were in.

The ceiling was domed, and she knew that the slide had taken them down to a super wide room. It was sort of like the stadiums that they showed for official battles on the television. There was a small oval of light coming from up there, so a little piece of the sky was visible. It didn't light the room up completely, but it gave the air a sort of murky haze. There was enough light for what she wanted to do that she didn't turn the flashlight back on.

She walked over to the rocky wall next to her and laid her hand on one of the smooth stones. After a second, it shifted, and the whole ground rumbled. Suddenly, a chain of rocks rose high into the air like a snake, stretching up tall toward the ceiling. The rock formation grumbled too, and the sound echoed off all the walls loudly.

The giant stone snake turned its head toward them, and Ivy offered a smile. “How are you doing today?” she asked the Onix. Then she turned to Chris. “Do you wanna battle this one?”

    Onix Female/Gender Impish

As Magby streamed out small flames that lasted longer than normal I was quite amazed at the skill the fiery creature could use. I looked forward a little and heard Ivy talk to the Magby.

“Nice job,” Ivy said to it with a smile. I knew Ivy had great connections with her Pokemon; however I never thought she would with random Pokemon. I was amazed that placed my thumbs up to her from behind. Magby smiled at Ivy and it clapped its hands together to keep practicing. I clapped my hands for a moment because Magby was being so cute and I did not want to disturb it from its habitat.

“Aww Magby is cute!” I said quietly with a coveted look on my face. Ivy took us down quietly down a rocky path, which was out of the small room. I was still kind of sketchy because Mt. Deckbi was easy to get lost in. However, with Ivy as my Ranger I would not be left alone in the dark! Ivy led me away from Magby whilst it stayed to practice its training.

Ivy walked me through a deep tunnel, which returned to deep darkness. Suddenly, I noticed Ivy bring out her flashlight and beam it forward again. Luckily, she had a flashlight else I would have been using Darmanitan’s fiery moves. They would then light up the room, which could take away his energy and I would not want that! I tread carefully behind Ivy on a smoother floor and she seemed to know why. I just kept quiet and followed because my Ranger had bigger plans. My feet kept dipping down a little with each step and I got more nervous on what would happen next!

Ivy took me through the tunnelled walk way and went next to a small cut-out of the wall. She stood dead still with Haji. I quickly rushed up behind her whilst I watched my feet because I did not want to fall over.

“Look here,” she said, pointing to the opening. I looked with a gobsmacked face at a giant hole with an angled path which seemed to lead in darkness. I noticed the wall and floor were worn down. I was wondering what my kind Ranger had in store for me this time.

“Come on,” she said with a smile and did not look back at me. Therefore, I followed slowly behind her. Then, she turned off her flashlight and clipped it back to her belt. Suddenly, she placed her boot onto to a makeshift slide. Haji quickly jumped in front of her and then they both slid down the slide. I was quite shocked of something like a slide would be down in Mt.Deckbi. It reminded me of my child hood with a toy slide, which would topple over if I was not careful. I slid down after her.

“Wait for meeeeee,” I said and it echoed. I flunked to the ground behind Ivy and Haji. I looked up and they had moved out of the way as if they knew I was derpy.

“’Ello Govner,” I said to them. I usually said random British phrases when I got nervous. I stood to my feet and saw Ivy looking at the top of the room we were in. The ceiling I looked at with her was domed and it was a very wide room. I could see the sky ever so slightly. I suddenly coughed in the murky haze in the room and started to have a coughing fit. I then came to my senses. Ivy walked over to a rocky wall and laid her hand to one of the smooth stones. Suddenly, it shifted and the while ground rumbled. The floor beneath my feet started to wobble and I paniced.

“EARTHQUAKE,” I shouted. I was so scared nothing happened. As if I had tricks played on me! The chain of rocks that shook the ground rose high like a long snake that stretched to the ceiling. It grumbled loudly, which vibrated right through my ears. It turned its rocky head towards me with angry look and it worried me a lot.

“How are you doing today?” Ivy asked Onix and then she turned to me. “Do you wanna battle this one?” I panicked for a moment and wondered how Ivy could talk to Pokemon so easily. Anyways I slapped my face for a moment and thought Onix would be a cool Pokemon to have as a partner.

“Go Metagross,” I shouted and tossed a ball forward. It bounces on the murky ground and burst opens my Metagross! My tank-like Psychic Pokemon crashed to the ground and shook the floor. My feet shook with it. The turquoise metallic creature was a powerful one and had giant black eyebrows and a moustache. Me and my Metagross went back a long way from when I was a Gym Leader.

“Great Job Metagross,” I said with happiness. “You easily took out that Weavile!” I remember in the past Metagross saving me from tight situations. We have trained for about 5 Years now and we always had fun, therefore I chose to bring it with me on this Mt. Deckbi run. Metagross was so powerful when it came to battling using its steel type moves and tank like defence.

“Meta,” Metagross turned to me and repeated itself. It was ready to battle! I had some plans against that rock snake.

“Metagross, I want you to use Bullet Punch in this room,” I asked Metagross. “I would suggest Meteor Mash; however let’s not destroy Mt.Deckbi’s tunnels.” Metagross nodded and was ready to attack.

“If Bullet Punch works effectively, I would like you to use Scary Face to slow Onix down.” I shouted with thumbs up. “If this works Metagross, we might have a new friend quicker than you can chow down!”

Metagross tensed its turquoise metallic body and was ready to attack. Onix seemed to be ready to battle as well.

@Fossil Fusion Also, Nature is something you can't pick on wild mons.

    BP#6

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

After watching Chris's almost comedic reaction to the rumbling, he seemed to settle down a little. The Onix looked at them both curiously as they waited for the Trainer to make up his mind. Ivy always thought Onix was a pretty cool Pokemon. She wouldn't know what to do with such a large creature, however. She wouldn't have fit in her apartment.

Chris decided to battle after all, and he shouted, “Go, Metagross!” as he threw out a Pokeball. It bounced along the floor, and Ivy could barely keep her eye on it. The red on the device was blotted out by the darkness in the room.

The large blue, steel crab Pokemon emerged in a flash of light that made her close her eyes quickly. She had gotten used to the darkness. The Psychic-type looked undisturbed by the surroundings, and it was a good thing. She didn't think it was going to get any brighter. That was, unless they knocked part of the ceiling down.

“Metagross,” Chris said, “I want you to use Bullet Punch. I would suggest Meteor Mash, but let's not destroy Mt. Deckbi's tunnels.” Ivy sighed in relief at that. If his first attack worked, Chris wanted Metagross to use Scary Face to try and stop Onix's momentum.

Metagross began to tense as its wires and plates shifted close to its body. If all went well, it would strike out with one of its limbs to hit the large rock-snake. As it was doing that though, the Onix began to move. She didn't move a lot, but her body tensed, and Ivy heard a faint humming sound. She backed up in response, giving the battlers some room.

Small rocks started to shake along the floor, and then they scattered to different areas of the domed room. She knew they'd be powered up with a certain energy that seemed to go along with the technique: Stealth Rock. If Metagross got near any of them, they would respond to its energy and crash into it. Granted, some of the stones wouldn't do that much damage to the Steel-type thanks to its metal plates, but a constant damage like that would add up.

Then, Metagross launched its attack. It blurred across the room through the hazy air, lashing out with one of his front limbs. Onix cried out, which rattled the air since she made a lot of noise. However, she wasn't done. The Ground-type's body was solid, and this Pokemon was known for having pretty good defenses.

There was a glint, and Ivy saw a flash of light shine on Onix's heavy tail. Then, with more agility than she thought possible, the rock-snake gave a heave of effort and swung her tail. It bashed into the Metagross and sent him flying like a softball into the rock wall. The whole cave shook, and small pieces of rocks and dust fell down from the ceiling. Ivy looked up to see if they were in danger, but the roof still looked intact.

Then, to make matters worse, the energy-filled rocks responded to the Steel-type's nearness and rose up. They clanked loudly against the metal plates and then went dormant again, waiting for Metagross to get close again. Chris was going to have to be careful.

The large crab turned and shook itself off from the impact. It seemed okay. It was able to whirl and stare down the rock-snake with its eyes glowing. The Onix paused in its movements for a minute, and Ivy thought that it might be affected after this.

    @Wintervines I was not sure!

I was hoping Metagross’ assault with Bullet Punch and Scary Face to work. I looked round and Ivy sighed with relief when I said I would not use Meteor Mash. Metagross tensed its wire and shifted its plates. Bullet Punch smacked the large rock-snake. Suddenly, I noticed Onix started to move and her rocky body started to tense.

“What is that humming sound?” I asked myself. I got a little worried since that sound was a little mysterious. Ivy on the other hand backed up a little a bit to give us some room. I was wondering if she would because who knows what Onix and Metagross would do in such a medium, rocky arena. As the floor rumbled some more many small rocks pebbled in the direction of my Metagross, and they scattered the different areas of the domed room.

“Oh no,” I shouted. “Not Stealth Rock!” I had bad experiences with Stealth Rock in the past and hoped it would not repeat itself here. This is because I lost an important battle after having Stealth Rock tossed at me in an Elite Battle. This was when I first became an Elite Trainer in 2008. Even though I lost, I was proud of my Pokemon for trying their hardest! Metagross had to be careful not to go near the energy stones else small constant damage would hurt my Psychic Pokemon!

“Metagross!” I shouted. “Be careful of those rocks!” Metagross turned to me a little and knew what I meant. This is because I used Metagross within the Elite Battle as well. Suddenly, Metagross launched Scary Face, which blurred across the hazy air from its metallic limbs. The rocky snake seemed to cry out and rattled the air.

“Onix sure is a tough one,” I said. “Metagross we can do this if we work together!” Suddenly, I noticed Onix’s tail started to glow. Onix used Iron Tail and smashed into my Metagross who was sent flying across the room into a rock wall. The cave seemed to shake and rocks pebbled from the ceiling. I was worried some of the rocks would hurt me, however Stealth Rock pebbled Metagross.

“Metagross, I hope you are okay!” I shouted. “I know this might be a long shot but I have a small plan!” Metagross slowly turned to me and nodded in pain. It was worried about Stealth Rocks but wanted to make Onix pay.

“Firstly, I would like to use Magnet Rise!” I shouted. “Using this might be able to keep away from Stealth Rocks a little, and then after that I would like you to use Metal Claw!” I was hoping this plan would work, but in a small cavern like this any stronger move was impossible without destroying the environment. I prayed it would work as I placed my hands together and Metagross was ready!

“Metagross, I hope you are okay!” Chris shouted. It was nice to see Trainers worrying about their Pokemon. She wasn't a fan of the indifferent ones. Pokemon were partners, not tools. Chris told the large blue crab that he had a plan, and the Steel-type nodded at him slowly.

“Firstly, I would like you to use Magnet Rise!” Ivy thought that was a pretty good plan. Ground-type moves tended to dent the steel plates on those types of Pokemon fairly easily, and hovering above the ground might let Metagross avoid some of that. It wouldn't be absolute, of course, since the Stealth Rock tended to fly up without much notice, but it would help. Since Onix was part Ground-type, its attacks were that much more potent.

Chris called for a Metal Claw after that, and the toughness of Steel-types would probably be enough to get through the Rock-type's heavy defenses. It was one of the only physical ways to get past the thick skin, and since Metagross excelled on that front, it was a good plan.

The Onix wasn't going to just give up though, she saw, and that was to be expected. However, she was moving a little more slowly due to the shock that the Metagross had given her before, with the scary look. For that reason, the blue crab was able to start setting up before the rock snake regained her focus.

Metagross began to hum, and its limbs when stock still for a minute. Then, magnets or something close activated within the Steel-type, and the energy propelled it in the air about three feet, lifting it off the ground that threatened it.

Then, its limbs flashed with a metallic glow before it shot off toward the rock snake. It struck out, and Ivy winced as the painful noise echoed in the cavern. The Onix cried out in response, but she didn't stop her motion. Her tail flailed up again, and before Metagross could float away, she jerked it upward and then slammed it down on top of the crab.

Metagross when crashing into the ground, making a divot in the cave floor. The room shook, and Ivy put her hand on the side of the wall to steady herself. As the Steel-type hit the ground, the Stealth Rock came up to smack into him. Only a few hit however; the rest seemed to be forced back by some sort of force. Maybe it was the magnetism.

Onix wasn't done, however. She quickly turned her body around and threw her head back. The inside of her maw began to glow, and then she lunged forward slightly as she released that energy. A purple, pink, and blue flickering fire streamed out of her jaws, and Ivy recognized it as a Dragon Breath attack. Onix sure did know a variety of moves.

The dragon flames washed over Metagross, but it looked like its steel plating kept most of the damage from affecting it. It shook itself off after the fire stopped, and then it rose into the air again, ready to continue fighting.

Onix seemed a little more tired now, moving a little slower and breathing a little deeper. A little longer and Chris would be able to attempt to capture her.

I waited eagerly for my formation of moves from Metagross to work. Magnet Rise and Metal Claw seemed to be a good combination. Stealth Rock may fly up without much notice. However, I have faith in my metallic Metagross! My Metal Claw could get through Rock-type defenses and Onix was Rock-typed after all.

I watched the female Onix carefully; she seemed to not want to give up so easily. The rocky snake did seem to move slowly compared to before. Therefore, my Scary Face had started to kick in. Excellent Govner! I analysed my Metagross setting up against the Onix. Ivy was watching too, she seemed to be enjoying it… or so I thought!

“Yes Metagross!” I cheered. The Genderless, metallic crab bean to hum and stood still for a minute. Its magnets propelled it into the air a little and away from the dusty, cold ground. Metal Claw struck out at Onix and it winced in noise. It echoed through my ears loudly. I quickly held my hands over my ears and covered the noise for a moment.

“Ergh, my ears,” I squirmed and said. I shook my head and looked forward to the battlefield. Suddenly, Onix’ tail flailed at Metagross and slammed my Pokemon. I was worried as Metagross crashed to the ground. Next, the metallic crab was Dragon Breathed. I was very shocked it could learn such a move. Perhaps it should be a Dragon Gym WC!

“Yeah, Onix seems tired now!” I cheered. My next plan was to get one more attack in and then attempt the capture. However, I do not want to make Onix faint or anything. I will have to be careful, besides the cavern seems fragile.

“Metagross, let’s use Bullet Punch!” I shouted. My intention was to quickly pierce off Onix’ health by Bullet Punching its face. Then, I will throw a Super Ball!

“Let’s go Metagross!” I clenched my fist and said!

“Yes, Metagross!” Chris cheered as he watched his Pokemon perform. At least it seemed that he was having a good time. A few other runs she had gone on turned out to be busts for both the Trainer and herself. He had found more than just one Pokemon to catch, thankfully, so the run was still promising.

Chris looked thoughtful, and he was probably thinking of what he was going to do next. Onix was decently worn out, but Ivy knew that you couldn't base fighting spirit just on how the foe looked. A lot of Pokemon, and wild ones especially, fought even harder when they thought they were being backed into a corner.

“Metagross, lets use Bullet Punch!” he called, recommending the attack for a second time. Ivy supposed it was a decent call, since he didn't want to make the mistake of ordering a move that knocked Onix out. However, she worried that it was being too safe. Onix was rather defensive, and she could probably take a few more hits.

Ivy saw him give the signal to Metagross, and at the same time, he pulled out a Super Ball from his pocket. He watched the Onix closely, trying to time his throw correctly. It looked like he was going to try to capture now.

The Steel-type streaked forward with its limb extended, smashing into the Onix. The angle let it smack her right in the nose, and her head jerked as she cried out in anger. It stunned her for a second, so it took her a few moments to regain her balance and go after Metagross.

Instead of using her head or tail this time, she lunged with her whole body, slamming into the blue crab and sending it hurtling into the ground. Another crater was formed as the large Pokemon hit, and dust mushroomed up around the zone.

Then, Chris decided to throw the ball while there was still a dust cover. Despite the low visibility, Onix seemed to sense what was going on. As the Super Ball neared her, she snapped her head, and instead of engulfing her in red light to trap her in the ball, she caught the bottom of the device and knocked it away harshly.

The ball flew backward, sailing toward the cave wall. “Haji!” she shouted quickly, and before the capture device could slam into the wall and break, it was surrounded by a blueish light. It hovered there for a second, protected by the Psychic energy coming from the purple cat. Then, it came down gently, and Ivy grabbed onto it.

“Nice catch, Haji,” she said as she tucked the ball away. She'd have to wait until the battle was over to give it back, since there was just too much going on right now. She hoped Chris had another ball to use. He was lucky the device didn't break. These in the Park could be reused, but sometimes they got destroyed or lost.

She watched to see what the Trainer would do next. Every little bit of damage they continued to do to the Onix would help.

I watched carefully as I hoped my combination of Bullet Punch and my Super Ball would work. Onix was worn down, but I had a feeling it was ready to counter attack as well. We’ll see. I pulled out my Super Ball from my pocket and was ready.

Metagross had struck Onix with Bullet Punch in the nose. I watched carefully as Onix was jerked sideways. The rocky snake then regained her balance.

“Won’t be easy,” I said to myself. Suddenly, Metagross was pounced on by a complete rock body. My Metagross looked hurt and worn down. Dust flew in my eyes.

“Ouch my eyes,” I said, and then wiped my eyes. Dust was everywhere. I threw the ball and it flew towards the rocky snake. She then bashed my Pokeball harsly away from her.

“Persistent!” I shouted. “Metagross, we can do this!” I encouraged Metagross so much and had to think of another plan!

“Haji” I heard Ivy shout. She had rescued my Super Ball from destruction, which I was so thankful for.

“Nice catch, Haji,” Icy said and tucked the ball away. I had to use another Ball else it’ll get away.

“Metagross, use Psychic,” I shouted. “I want you to be a little gentler than normal with this Psychic attack because we do not want Onix to faint!” Then I shall throw my spare Super Ball. I reached to my pocket and brought another sphere and awaited my Metagross’ Psychic.

Chris didn't look too put out that his capture had failed, which was good. She didn't need any Trainers raging around in the Park.

“Metagross, use Psychic,” he called, cautioning his Pokemon not to go all out since Onix was starting to weaken. As a rule, a Trainer couldn't catch a Pokemon that had fainted from battle, so if they accidentally knocked it out, it was too bad for them.

The blue crab focused its energy on Onix then. A lot of Pokemon used Psychic in different ways, but the general two were using the energy to slam the foe into something and putting a strain on the mind, which decreased energy. Since Onix was huge, Metagross opted for the second way. Thrashing Onix around probably wasn't a good idea in the cave.

The Steel-type's eyes glowed a blueish color as the Onix cried out. She thrashed around a little, but she only wobbled the ground. At least nothing fell on them. Then, Chris tried capture attempt number two. He lined up his shot as he took out another Super Ball, and when the Onix mostly stilled, he let it fly.

This time, she didn't strike it away, and the red light from the device engulfed her. The ball closed as it dropped to the ground, and it only shook a little bit in protest. Then the center lit up red.

“Congrats,” Ivy said as she went over to pick up Onix's ball. She tucked it into her vest pocket as she fetched the one that had been knocked astray. She handed it back to Chris. “Lucky this one didn't break. Do you want to rest up a bit or keep going?” she asked.

Metagross focused its energy on Onix and tried by a little gentler with Psychic. I was very worried about how weak Onix was! Psychic waves of energy were slammed into the rocky snake, which decreased energy. This was very satisfying for me and I knew Metagross was happy with its work.

“Go Superball,” I shouted. I served my ball in the direction of Onix and a red light engulfed her. The ball closed and dropped to the ground. I watched carefullu as the ball rolled around the floor.

“YES!” I shouted. “Finally another Team member, congratulations Metagross! Good job!” I was so pleased as I watched Ivy picked up Onix’s ball.

“Congrats,” Ivy said. She trucked the ball into her pocket. I quickly grabbed my Pokeball from my pocket and returned Metagross to it. This rocky cave crept me out a little. I was ready to move. Ivy gave me back my strayed Super Ball and I placed back into my pocket.

“Do you want to rest up a bit or keep going?” Ivy asked.

“Thanks Ivy, my Pokemon and I are feeling tired. But I do not want to be stuck in this cave for too long.” I said, worryingly. “Lead the way.”

Chris said he and his team were a little tired, but he didn't want to be stuck in the cave for very long either. She nodded and started to lead the way across the cavern floor. Some people got nervous when they were underground for bouts of time. People were generally creatures of the day. They liked to see the sun.

On the other side of the cave was a stone staircase that led up, so that's where they went. The temperature didn't rise too much, so they weren't very high up on the mountain still, but the air did get a little clearer, which meant there was going to be an opening soon.

Soon enough, the tunnel they were in started to brighten, and Ivy caught a glimpse of the sky. “Watch your step,” she cautioned as they came out of the darkness. There may have been sun, but the cliff dropped off sharply. The path that wrapped around this part of the mountain was only a couple of feet wide. There were nothing but jagged rocks below.

Ivy stepped carefully as she started toward the other end of the path that would lead them back into the mountain again. Suddenly, a shadow loomed from above, and the Ranger stepped back just as a bipedal chicken-like Pokemon jumped down onto their path from above.

“Combusken!” is shouted, looking back at them.

The dingy cavern was getting me swamped, and it was to go. Ivy nodded and led the way across the cavern floor. I slowly followed. She led me to through the cave and came across a stone staircase. My body was still cold and the temperature did not change. At least I could see where I was going instead of being stuck in dust.

“I see light,” I whispered to Ivy. The sky gleamed.

“Watch your step,” Ivy cautioned me as we came out the darkness. I could have tripped or felled if I wasn’t careful. The sun was bright above the mountain, however the cliff we was off dropped sharply. I followed slowly behind Ivy and Haji as they took me around a narrow walk way around the mountain. I took a glimpse down and too many rocks. One false move and you’ll be rock food.

Suddenly a bipedal chicken Pokémon hopped onto our path from above. I screeched in shock because it made me jump.

    “Combusken!” it shouted.

“Well, Chris, up to fighting again so soon?” Ivy asked me.

“I think we move on because this narrows part of the mountain is a bit scary for me,” I explained to Ivy. “I am not good with heights often!” I had my cash at the ready for a Pokedoll and awaited my Ranger’s instructions

“I think we should move on because this narrow part of the mountain is a bit scary for me,” Chris said in response to her question. She didn't blame him; one wrong step and he could end up as a skewered pancake on the rocks below. Of course, she would try to save him, since that was her job and she didn't just let people get hurt, but she wasn't sure if Haji and her would be fast enough. She didn't know if the purple cat hadn't tried to move people with his Psychic energy before.

She tried to advance closer to the Combusken so they could pass, but the Fire-type gave her a hard look and held its arms out in a T position, barring their path. Ivy shook her head and looked back at Chris.

“Looks like we'll have to use another doll. I don't exactly want to scuffle with this thing right here. It's too dangerous for all of us,” she said.

She marked another tally on her phone for the appropriate device as she used her other hand to pull out another doll. She pulled the string to inflate it and then offered it out to the Pokemon in the way. The Combusken eyed it carefully for a few moments, trying to see if there was some trick in the offer, but eventually it reached out to take it. Then, it disappeared into the tunnel in the direction they were going to head.

“Well, hopefully we won't run into that one again. It should be pretty happy with the doll.”

Then, she led them onward. The set of paths over here were all more out in the open, since pockets of sky were often seen through the patchy ceiling or even off to the side where the path dropped off. Soon they came to a part of the tunnel where the whole sky was open. The walls were still intact though, so it was like they were in a hallway of a maze.

There was a slightly raised platform off to one side, and a noise drew her attention there when they first entered the room. Flames danced around a form that heaved a sound of effort. A large red and black Pokemon was lifting a huge boulder over its head. The martial arts-type pads on its body were engraved with yellow patterns. The pig-like Pokemon stared back at them as it held the boulder still above its head.

“Wow, that's pretty impressive,” she said to Chris. “Do you want to battle or maybe take a picture of this Emboar? A bet a few people back at the office would really like this shot.”

Ivy approached the Combusken that I wanted to escape from, so we could pass. However, I looked forward and the Combusken spread its arms out in a T position. I watched Ivy shake her head and turned to me.

“Looks like we’ll have to use another doll. I don’t exactly want to scuffle with this thing right here. It’s too dangerous for all of us.” Ivy said. I nodded because I did not want to let the Team be knocked off this pass. I watched the doll be pulled infront of Combusken and it inflated. Combusken then grabbed the doll and took off into a tunnel.

“Finally, it left,” I said, with relief.

“Well, hopefully we won’t run into that one again. It should be pretty happy with the doll.” Ivy said to me. Then, she led me onwards. The paths got narrower and kind of made me a little scared. We then were near the tunnel where the sky was open. It was quite breezy.

“What a strange maze!” I said. Ivy looked to the side and noticed a sound of effort. I also heard it afterwards and wondered what trouble was in store for me. I saw a pig-like Pokemon and it was large red and black. It was lifting a huge boulder over its head. It looked like a pretty cool Pokemon, but we needed to move on!

“Wow that’s pretty impressive,” Ivy said to me. “Do you want to battle or maybe take a picture of this Emboar? A bet a few people at the office would really like this shot.”

“I would like to move on, if I cannot I’ll purchase another doll: $1750 – $500 = $1250” I said to Ivy. “I kind of left my camera at home today…”
