    Ranger Makina Auron

    *~~~~~~~~~*

"hmm...No, I already have a fiery monster...I mean monkey back home to deal with. And he'll have some answering to do when I get there," Felix responded with a small grin.

“Fiery monster is right,” Makina grumbled, the Pansear sticking it's tongue out at the Ranger as a reply. At least it had been a small rock that had been thrown, and not something else... she heard the sound of footsteps and turned about, noticing that Felix had begun to walk away. “Please let me lead on. This is an active volcano after all, and we're getting closer to where some of the more experienced wildlife reside,” Makina warned.

"Oh, sorry about that. Please lead the way,” Felix replied, looking embarrassed. “And...uhh...yeah, a Pokedoll just in case. I REALLY don't think I want do battle this one," he added.

Makina nodded and took a careful step away from the overhang. Instantly Pansear's grin widened, readying another pebble for launch.

“Oh no you don't” Makina lobbed a Doll straight at the Fire-type, this one shaped like a Charmander for ironic purposes. Instantly the Pansear dropped his rock, holding his arms out for the plushie. “Well, now that that's over with... onward!” she said, walking ahead of Felix.

The trail was just as rocky as it had appeared in the distance- some of the rocks could be deemed large enough to be boulders. Thankfully, there was always plenty of space for the group to squeeze by. As they headed further on the path began to widen, eventually leading to an open plateau before their eyes. The temperature had definitely risen; the air shimmered in a few places around them, and there were small fissures in the land with lava just visible in the small cracks.

As Makina helped guide Felix around yet another boulder on the field, A short burst of flame shot out from a nearby outcropping of rocks. The stream ended well short of them, but was definitely enough to get the group's attention. A buglike creature, it's head covered with white fuzz leaped up from the rocks, looking over at the two humans. It seemed docile for now, but that earlier flame said otherwise.

“I never realized Larvesta were so large,” Makina said in an undertone, looking at the easily meter-tall creature. “They're an excellent addition to any team though. Want to take it on?”

It seemed like the fiery monkey didn't want us to leave. It looked very playful and I thought it probably found us interesting. Either that or it was probably bored and we made great targets. Thankfully, Ranger Makina was ready with a Pokedoll. This one was strangely, if not hilariously, based on a Charmander. She quickly tossed the doll towards the Pansear who couldn't help but smile brightly at the plushy that was flying its way.

"Cute little thing," I said to myself.

With the 'fierce creature' now tamed, the Ranger once again lead us forward and upward towards the volcano. As we moved through the path, it seemed to be getting pretty rocky. There were big boulders all around that caused us to maneuver a bit. We had to find our way around them, but thankfully it seemed like the path was getting wider.

We then arrived at a wide open space. I would have been happier about that if it weren't for the annoying heat. It was hot for a reason too as there were some cracks with actual lava flowing through them. It was definitely too hot, but I had to move forward anyways. I closed my eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. I was starting to panic again, but I couldn't allow myself to. After all, the expedition wasn't over yet.

At that moment, I saw what I could only describe at the moment as "the craziest thing". What seemed like a random yet powerful stream of fire had risen from the rocks and it looked for a moment as if we were its target. I would have normally froze, but Fumiyo was hanging on to my shoulder. I looked at her and she looked terrified as well. The whole thing had taken us by surprise. I quickly turned around to shield my Cinccino, but luckily the fire ended right before it reached us.

Still, I thought to myself, "That's it. I can't do this anymore."

I turned around and noticed the large bug ahead of us. He wasn't doing anything at the moment. It seemed that the burst of fire was just him trying to make his way through the rocks. Suddenly, I noticed something about him. He looked...harmless. He wasn't harmless at all, that I knew for sure, but he looked harmless to me nonetheless. It was as if I was, more than tired of being afraid, I was bored of being afraid. It didn't get me anything. And about this creature before me, I shall capture it. Sure, these thoughts seemed to have come out of nowhere. Even I was confused as to why I was thinking all of this, but I couldn't deal with being afraid right then. It was definitely time for a new spin on the whole experience.

I took a deep breath once more as I turned towards the Cinccino on my shoulders. It looked like the shot of the moment had passed. She was never the kind to focus much on negative things which was one of the reasons she earned that spot on my shoulders. Besides the fact that most of my other Pokemon were too big that is. She looked at me and saw that I wasn't showing fear anymore. She didn't care why really. She just looked overjoyed about it and even place her paw gently against my face to show her approval.

I smiled back at her as I shifted my backpack to my front and looked through it. I took several different balls out of it and put them in my pocket as they were still in their shrunken form.

As I finished, I closed the backpack and held it up as I said, "Fumiyo, I need a really big favor. Can you take this and go back a bit to the big boulders? I need you to guard this for me."

Fumiyo looked a bit confused at the request, but she trusted Felix enough. She quickly jumped out of my shoulders and snatched the backpack just before turning back and hiding with it behind a boulder.

As soon as she was out of sight, I took out a Pokeball and expanded it in my hands before tossing it forward shouting, "Amethyst...show time!"

At that moment, the ball opened and let out a flash of light that quickly took the form of a Garchomp. The blue dragon shook her head as she appeared as if she had smelled something foul, but only for a moment. As she felt the smell dissipate, without opening her eyes, she gently used her claws to attempt to remove a few wrinkles from the glittering blue bow tied to the left of her head. When she opened her eyes and noticed the sorroundings, the wild Pokemon that seemed to be her opponent, and most importantly, how her skin contrasted with the red rock. She felt some pride and turned towards the Larvesta as she took a pose that only made her look more powerful than she already appeared.

"Alright Amethyst, that Larvesta is your opponent. Keep your guard up and lets see what he's got," I said with a confident look in my face.

If there was a Pokemon in my party that inspired confidence, that was Amethyst. She looked towards her opponent and smiled as she waited for him to make a move, thinking to herself that whatever he had she deal with it if not top it.

    Ranger Makina Auron

    *~~~~~~~~~*

Felix had yet to respond; judging by the look on his face, he was steeling himself for this battle. He looked over at Fumiyo, and the Pokemon and Trainer appeared to have agreed on something. He un-shouldered his pack and began to take out several objects, possibly so he could access them more quickly. When he was done, he handed the pack over to the Cinccino, "Fumiyo, I need a really big favor. Can you take this and go back a bit to the big boulders? I need you to guard this for me."

Fumiyo appeared to be puzzled by this odd request, but complied. Both backpack and Pokemon disappeared off behind one of the larger boulders.

With this action completed, Felix pulled out a Pokeball, tossing it forward. "Amethyst...show time!" he called out. The sphere released it's trademark white flash of light, revealing a mighty Garchomp. The Dragon-type whipped her (judging from the bow adorning the Garchomp) head about a moment, as if smelling something not to her liking in the least.

So that's why Felix had used the repellent in such an odd way, Makina realized. a Ground-type spray was sure to irritate Amethyst, and keeping the smell way away would help her keep a concentration on the battle. All in all, a good tactic.

Amethyst, unable to find the source of the fading smell, had decided to not worry about it for the moment. She worried her ribbon about for a moment, as if she was trying to enhance the appearance of the accessory. The Larvesta noticed this, and let out a small sound, almost as if it was... chuckling? Regardless, Amethyst noticed this right away, and looked straight at the buglike creature. She even held an intimidating pose, as if to impress her opponent.

"Alright Amethyst, that Larvesta is your opponent. Keep your guard up and lets see what he's got," Felix called out confidently.

<This will be interesting to watch,> Aria remarked, managing to sneak a Teleport to behind Makina. The Gardevoir was looking over at the two Pokemon with an amused glint in her eye, as if she knew something that the two humans had yet to notice.

    Why do you say that?
Makina was used to having Aria appear behind her at the oddest of the times, so she had managed to prevent being surprised by her partner's sudden relocation- barely. Amethyst is an experienced Pokemon by the looks of it, and Larvesta could possibly be another child looking for a playmate.

    <This isn't about experience. You'll see,> Aria answered cryptically.

Amethyst appeared to be content with letting her opponent have the first move. She was still holding her earlier pose, and her ribbon appeared to glitter despite the lack of sunlight at the moment.

Larvesta, oddly enough, seemed willing to wait as well. The two held an uneasy standstill a moment, as if daring for one of them to attack first. Finally Larvesta appeared to have enough; without warning, he shot a thick, sticky stream of string at the Garchomp, aiming straight for her face and the ribbon attached to it's side.

The technique hit full-on, causing Amethyst to let out an outraged roar. She used her claws in an attempt to remove the gooey mess, only managing to tangle it on her claws instead. It managed to clear her eyesight, however.

As soon as the Garchomp was able to see, Larvesta began to sway from side to side, as if bragging about bringing down his opponent's ego a peg or few. This movement, along with the humiliating String Shot, was sure to enrage Amethyst.

I watch and waited to see what would turn up. I expected the Larvesta to attack with a powerful fire-type move which Amethyst could have easily work with. I even had an idea of what the whole thing would look like, but, that wasn't the case. I was completely surprised as I saw Larvesta shoot out what looked like some sort of silk. I wanted to call out a command to have my Garchomp defend herself, but I was stumped at the moment. Amethyst seemed just as surprised as she tried her best to get that sticky thread off herself, but she was only getting more tied up in it.

I knew we had to get rid of that as soon as possible, so I shouted, "Amethyst, clean that up with Fire Fang!"

At that moment, Amethyst calmed down a bit. She opened her mouth as her teeth set on fire. Some of it even coming out of her mouth. She quickly passed the fire over the silk to try and turn it to ash as fast as possible. Still, it did look like there was some anger she was holding back. And now on top of that, it looked like the Larvesta was showing off. That was Amethyst's job, so I couldn't allow that Larvesta to continue.

"Amethyst, use Sandstorm to show it who's boss!" I said with a serious tone.

At that moment, Amethyst spread her arms widely and roared as a tall wall of sand suddenly roused up and began surrounding her. The shadowy silhouette of her body could still be seen through the sand for a moment before vanishing creating an ominous yet powerful image. With any luck, this would distract her from Larvesta's weird dance. But it wasn't stopping there.

"Foward!" I shouted as I pointed towards the Larvesta.

Listening to the command, Amethyst moved her arms up and quickly pulled them down as she bended forward. Following the roar the Garchomp let out, the stream of sand suddenly began to spin towards the Larvesta creating a sand twister that threatened to envelop the fiery bug.

"Dragon Rush combo!" I added with a strong tone.

Amethyst kept holding the same pose as she began to run after the large amount of sand she created. A green aura suddenly covered her for a moment just before she jumped into the Sandstorm and vanished from sight once again.

"Please, let this work..." I said to myself as I awaited the outcome.

Now there were two things for Larvesta to worried about. There was this massive Sand Twister headed his way, and on top of that, there was a dragon somewhere inside the twister ready to strike at any moment. It was definitely something worth seeing.

    Ranger Makina Auron

    *~~~~~~~~~*

"Amethyst, clean that up with Fire Fang!" Felix shouted, getting right to work on removing the thread still sticking to the Garchomp.

Immediately Amethyst's mouth was set aflame, and she carefully burned off the sticky mess that clung to her face and claws. It was certainly improvised, but the heat did wonders on destroying the stuff; despite that it had come from a Bug that was a Fire type. There were still quite a few mysteries in the world it seems.

Even though the Garchomp had looked intimidating with a mouthful of flames, Larvesta was still swaggering, clearly unimpressed. It wasn't surprising- due to being able to breathe fire as well and living in such a hot area, seeing any type of flames must be commonplace.

Felix wasn't done, however. "Amethyst, use Sandstorm to show it who's boss!"

Amethyst let out a loud roar towards Larvesta, the sound reverberating across the area. Almost immediately, the Garchomp had called up a large wall of sand, and it began to swirl about the area. The winds, though just starting up, were already proving to be quite fierce. Makina took a step back, covering her face with an arm so she could still view the battle.

Aria sighed, and placed a small barrier around her trainer and Felix. Fumiyo appeared to have disappeared with the bag, but the storm only enveloped the immediate area. Wherever she was, the Cinccino was likely safe.

As soon as the first winds began to swirl about, Larvesta ceased his attack. He began to eye the Garchomp warily, waiting to see what was next.

"Foward!" Felix shouted, pointed towards the Larvesta.

Amethyst gave another roar and rushed forward, not bothered by the sand in the least; in fact, she appeared to relish it. She attempted to move the worst of the storm forward with her.

"Dragon Rush combo!" Felix added with a loud tone.

Amethyst began to glow with a draconic aura, and ran faster, aiming herself to run headlong into her opponent.

Larvesta attempted to react as quickly as possible. Without any time to waste, he spat out another glob of string, this time using a large amount of the material to cover the area in front of him. In mere moments, the first two feet in front of the creature was covered with the stuff, in an attempt to trap any would-be attackers. It proved to be only halfway effective. While the string managed to hinder the Garchomp's movement, it had plenty of momentum to crash into the wild Pokemon. The Larvesta let out a surprised cry, but held it's ground.

As soon as Larvesta was able to get his bearings once more, it shot out flames from one of the horns adorning his head; not aiming at the Garchomp, but at the very ground itself. The force from the flames was enough to launch him skyward a bit and, as the Larvesta began to descend, he dropped down upon Amethyst's back. The move had been done more to surprise his opponent, but damage was still done in the end. The Larvesta flipped off, landing behind Amethyst, and began to split off into multiple images. The clones began to surround the Garchomp, moving in unison.

“Looks like Larvesta is more than just a trickster,” Makina warned Felix. “Those images probably won't last long in the Sandstorm, but it will probably use them to their full advantage until then.”

Everything seemed to be going smoothly. I watch patiently as Amethyst carefully removed all that sticky material from herself using her fiery breath. The material quickly evaporated giving the Garchomp her freedom. The flaming bug was still taunting the powerful dragon type even after that, so it was now our turn to counter attack.

After I gave my commands, Amethyst successfully created a wall of sand that interrupted Larvesta's Swagger. Not only was she relatively safer, but now she had an advantage to work on. She moved all of the sand forward as a large shield surrounding her and then the area carefully concealing her next powerful assault. She focused her power as she rushed forward using a great amount of energy.

The Larvesta wasn't going to just take it. He tried his best and created a sticky obstacle for Amethyst, but it didn't help him that much as Amethyst simply ran through it and landed her attack head on. Larvesta wasn't too happy about that as it seemed to have hurt plenty. He quickly jetted upwards using his fired and landed on the dragon's back. Amethyst certainly was surprised, but not as surprised as she was when she saw the fiery creature multiply and surround her. She looked around wondering what to do. But she wasn't so much worried as she was...happy? Oh yes, she was smiling. She was enjoying herself. She always wanted to be on top, that's for sure, but it was a great feeling for her to have to show off some more in order to get there.

I payed close attention to the way the Larvesta had played his Double Team attack. He had used it to surround Amethyst which was probably a mistake.

I smiled towards the Garchomp and said, "Amethyst, use Sand Tomb!"

Amethyst gave a slight somewhat cheerful roar as she understood the command. She quickly moved her right arm upwards and her left across her body as she stood up in one leg causing the impression of a ballet pose. Immediately after she began to spin on the same spot as the ground beneath her suddenly started to give and become smoother. The earth on the spot quickly turned into a swirling pool of sand that began to rapidly expand threatening to swallow up Larvesta and his clones.

Amethyst quickly sank to the center of the Sand Tomb as she skillfully controlled it. She kept a menacing look in her face in an attempt to frighten anyone caught in her trap. I really hope that it would work, or at the very least, for the sand to stick to whatever remained of the String Shot to ease Amethyst's movements.

"That's it girl! Now sweep the area with Whirlpool!" I added with a very excited tone.

The Garchomp raised her arms above her body as a small pool of water appeared between her hand. The water began to spin as well matching the rotation of the sand and, just like the Sand Tomb, the whirlpool also began to expand exponentially. When it was big enough, Amethyst took a whole turn and tossed it causing the whirlpool to be thrown with an additional spin. The whirlpool then landed at the edge of the Sand Tomb and began to spin like a top trying to swallow up whatever was left neat the edge, although after a single lap around the sand, the whirlpool itself became swallowed up by the Sand Tomb as both attacks fused into one.

Amethyst stood in the middle of the scene now controlling a watery Sand Tomb. She seemed very proud of being the one who made all of this. The idea of dominating whatever fell in was amazing for her and, over all, made her look and feel even more powerful than before.

At that moment, I started second guessing my choices. This was Amethyst after all.

I turned for a moment towards Ranger Makina and commented, "Maybe it was a bad idea to give her such an ego boost."

Felix didn't appear worried in the least about Larvesta. "Amethyst, use Sand Tomb!" he called out to his Garchomp, even grinning as he did so.

Amethyst let out another roar, and the sand surrounding her began to swirl about her a moment, the Garchomp swiveling about in a circle as well, as if she was a ballerina on stage. The ground beneath Amethyst gave way a little, creating a small groove underneath her. Some of the outer areas of the attack blew outward a bit, aiming for the Larvesta images.

Larvesta, seeing that another attack was heading towards him, was forced to react right away. All of his images appeared to be set aflame, and they rushed towards the Garchomp with an impressive speed. While the Sand Tomb appeared to damage Larvesta before he crashed into Amethyst, the wild Pokemon was able to hit his target as well. All of the images shattered, leaving a lone Larvesta to bounce off the Garchomp.

"That's it girl! Now sweep the area with Whirlpool!" Felix added.

The sandy arena began to be surrounded by a ring of water, moving in tandem with the Sand Tomb. The Larvesta was struck once more, this time with the outside of a battering watery wall instead. With the increased speed and agility caused by his earlier attack, however, he managed to just barely squeeze out.

Makina watched the two attacks moving about, clearly impressed. She had heard of Trainers using trapping moves like Fire Spin and Whirlpool on their own Pokemon before, but to use two attacks at the same time had to require a large amount of concentration. For now though, Amethyst seemed to be fine, even striking an intimidating pose at the moment.

"Maybe it was a bad idea to give her such an ego boost," Felix remarked, looking over at Makina. Apparently the Garchomp had a flair for showing off.

“She definitely has confidence,” Makina replied back. “Here's hoping that it does not go to her head, though.”

Larvesta, for the moment, appeared at a loss for what to do. He was clearly not happy about it as well, even puffing up a little bit in anger. Finally, after looking at the Whirlpool a moment, the Fire-type let out a shrill cry, as if commanding the Sandstorm to stop. Oddly enough... it appeared to obey. The Sandstorm winds died abruptly, and were replaced with a piercing ray of light that shone throughout the small area. While this hardly did anything to counter Amethyst's current combo, it would surely weaken the Whirlpool's effect.

I waited patiently as Amethyst began to perform a graceful pirouette as the ground beneath her made way for her attack. The ground quickly turned into sand which began to swirl attempting to swallow anything in its path. For a moment I thought that Larvesta would be that unlucky victim, but I didn't expect what happened next.

The fiery bug Pokemon and his clones all set on fire and actually jumped into the incoming Sand Tomb. The speed they have was very impressive and great enough to make it through the sand and impact the Garchomp. Amethyst didn't seem to happy about that, but she kept going with her attack.

After I announced my next command, the dragon typed Pokemon raised her arms and created what looked like a ring of water. She successfully managed to surround the sand with it, almost trapping the Larvesta with it, but the bug was lucky enough to make it through just in time due to his speed. Amethyst would have normally been upset about this, but at the moment, she was just too caught up in her performance. It was only after the skies suddenly cleared and the area started to heat up even more that she took notice of the situation.

With the extra heat, the Whirlpool became notably weaker. The proud Garchomp was a bit annoy by this so she released the water attack causing it to spill over the ground. I tried thinking about the situation to figure out what to do next, but the heat was annoying me as well. That's when I suddenly realized, Amethyst's current mood was probably something to use for now.

"Amethyst, you can't let him get away with that!" I said with a slightly taunting tone.

The Garchomp quickly looked at the direction of my voice and payed close attention. She just knew I had a plan after hearing that.

"Dive into the sand and use Dig, then burst out with Dragon Rage!" I shouted with a confident tone. I needed to make sure she felt she could pull that off, although that probably wasn't needed.

Amethyst responded with a slightly sinister snicker. Taking advantage of her lower ground caused by the Sand Tomb, she tried to dive in and sneak underground without Larvesta seeing what she was doing. Just there, there seemed to be a sudden silence as the Sand Tomb itself stopped swirling around. Amethyst kept tunneling underground making her way towards Larvesta. Being a ground type, she carefully considered the vibrations of the ground to pinpoint her target until she was finally in position.

At that moment, right from beneath Larvesta, a few green embers began to appear for a second when suddenly the ground exploded in green flames as Amethyst let out as much Dragon Rage as she could in one shot. Amethyst then jumped out into the middle of the flames only to burst out of them almost instantly to surprise her opponent. The green flames seemed to make the dragon's scales shine with a mystifying glow and she just loved it.

Thinking fast, I added yet another command, "Dual Chop, now!"

And that's precisely what Amethyst was waiting for. Still with the momentum of her jump, she moved forward towards the bug Pokemon with her claws ready to deliver a strong blow after another.

Meanwhile, from behind a boulder in the background, the little fluffy scarf Pokemon was getting a little bit impatient. While still holding the backpack she was meant to protect, Fumiyo decided to peek at the battle. He eyes quickly filled with excitement as she saw what was going on. She knew she couldn't near the area for some reason, but she still watched carefully. This was something the Cinccino didn't want to miss.

    Ranger Makina Auron

    *~~~~~~~~~*

With the blazing sunlight brought on by Larvesta's technique, Amethyst's Whirlpool began to weaken as it slowly swirled about. The Garchomp, noticing this, decided to null the attack entirely; with an annoyed downward movement of a claw, the water sloshed down to the ground. The water was mostly evaporated thanks to the intense heat of the area and the sunlight shining above, and the little amount that reached Larvesta only appeared to annoy him somewhat. It made sense- unlike those who have a living torch on them, like Charmeleon, a minuscule amount of water would hardly do anything to the Bug-type. It did manage to clear off the remaining String Shot strands still sticking to the ground and Garchomp, however.

Felix had noticed Amethyst's annoyance as well, and appeared to be lost in thought. Suddenly, his eyes appeared to light up a moment, "Amethyst, you can't let him get away with that!" he called out with a jeer.

Amethyst darted her head towards her Trainer, still clearly irate but listened to her Trainer closely.

"Dive into the sand and use Dig, then burst out with Dragon Rage!" Felix stated confidently. Makina was beginning to notice a pattern- her Trainer appeared to enjoy getting the jump on their foe.

Amethyst's annoyance appeared to melt away, slowly replaced by a sinister grin; made even more foreboding by the fact that Garchomp were already quite intimidating. Immediately Amethyst began to tear into the ground, burrowing herself so she could strike the Larvesta from underneath.

Thanks to the Sand Tomb tornado still in place, Larvesta could not see what his foe was planning. As soon as the Garchomp was fully underground, however, the tornado suddenly collapsed, as if someone had cut the power to the storm. Larvesta looked forward, slightly bewildered to see his opponent disappear but still keeping a wary eye about. Before the wild Pokemon could react, the ground erupted underneath him, bringing forth both a triumphant Garchomp and a sea of brilliant violet flames. The Larvesta was knocked upward and struck by both attacks, but not without leaving a mark on his foe. As Amethyst had crashed into the Pokemon, the larval creature appeared to shimmer with flame for just a moment. The light seared the Garchomp, causing her to let out a surprise growl.

“That would be Flame Body,” Makina warned Felix. “It looks like she didn't get hurt badly, but another contact move like that again might cause Amethyst to become badly burned.”

"Dual Chop, now!" Felix commanded, ending Amethyst's combo.

This time, Larvesta was ready. As he fell towards the ground, the Bug-type shot up a golden barrier, completely covering the Pokemon. Amethyst swung forward twice with her claws in an attempt to shatter the bubble, but to no avail. As the attack ceased, Larvesta let the barrier fall and shot forward a steady stream of flames at the Garchomp, engulfing his foe in flames and causing the Dragon-type to step back. The Larvesta, once landbound, began to concentrate. He closed his eyes a moment and, amazingly, began to lift off from the ground. This was likely not true flight, but Magnet Rise; the move would allow him to hover about, but only for a short time.

It had been a powerful sight to behold. The silence at first was ominous as Amethyst had vanished into the ground, but when she burst out from beneath Larvesta in a ball of fire, it was a very exciting moment. However, it was not without its price as the Dragon's contact with the flaming bug's body had caused a slight burn. Even through that, the proud Dragon kept on trying to strike forward only to collide with an impenetrable barrier.

Amethyst wasn't happy about that and went for another strike on her own will but she was furiously pushed back by a stream of flames. Normally, that wouldn't have bothered her that much but the heat of the sun made things so much worse for her. He burn, although mild, was really starting to bother her. She contemplated it a bit as Larvesta suddenly began to levitate. Now it was going to be harder since Amethyst's ground type moves were not going to be an option.

The Dragon type was now furious, if not because her reduced options, because she had been marked. At that moment, she couldn't take it. She suddenly became enveloped in a powerful aura of dragon energy which seemed power by her rage. At that moment, I opened my eyes widely as I realized what was going on.

"Outrage..." I whispered to myself before looking at to where my Cinccino had hidden only to notice that luckily she had been watching.

"Fumiyo, bring me the backpack! Hurry!" I shouted in distress towards my Pokemon.

The swift little scarf Pokemon knew that what was going to happen would probably not be pretty so she quickly pulled on the backpack and hurried over just as Amethyst's roar started to echo loudly. The Dragon type launched herself towards Larvesta once again, only this time it was clear that weakening the target and showing off were no longer her goal. Right then, Fumiyo tossed the backpack towards me and, in a single move, I caught it and turned it towards the direction of the battle.

That's when Amethyst suddenly stopped. He eyes opened widely as if stunned by something. Confused by her rage and the sudden strong odor caused by the Ground Type Repellant, she kept on running pass Larvesta and towards the group. That's when I took the chance and pointed her Pokeball back at her.

"Return!" I yelled as a red beam came out of the ball retreating the Garchomp into it.

I then sighed in relief and said, "That was close. I definitely have to work on Amethyst's tantrums." I then turned back towards my Cinccino. "Fumiyo, thanks. And great job."

After taking a big breath, I focused once more on the task at hand. I pulled another Pokeball out and tossed it forward after expanding it.

"Belle, it's your turn girl." I said as the Pokeball opened and released a flash of light that made way for a Dragonite.

The Dragonite appeared sitting on the ground, looking around at the bright sky. Suddenly, something caught her attention. It was a fiery bug floating in the air. Belle opened her eyes widely for a second as that was pretty much the last thing she expected to see.

"Okay Belle, shield yourself with Safeguard then use Fire Punch," I said while still trying to recover my breath. That close call with Amethyst had me a bit worked up.

The Dragonite nodded with a smile as she stood up focusing her energy. A colorful aura suddenly began to surround her body giving Belle a very elegant appearance which was only enhanced by the sunlight. The moment of awe was suddenly interrupted as orange Dragon expanded her wings lifting herself just a food off the ground and propelling herself towards the Larvesta. On her way, he first suddenly burst into flames. It was probably the heat of the sun that made the fire look so powerful. As Belle quickly neared her target, she quickly jabbed forward with her fiery fist ready to strike ahead.

Meanwhile, Fumiyo actually left my side for a moment. It seemed that she wanted a break from the battle as well after the scare she had. She cheerfully began running circles around Aria, probably looking for some play.

    Ranger Makina Auron

    *~~~~~~~~~*

Amethyst didn't appear none too happy that she had been slightly burned by such a weak looking creature, especially since all she had done was touch the Bug-type. Once she noticed that Larvesta had begun to hover in the air to further limit her options of attack, something appeared to snap in the Garchomp's mind. She went perfectly rigid for a moment, then let off an ear-shattering roar, becoming engulfed in a startling bright violet aura of Dragon energy.

Makina watched this display, surprised to see such a sudden mood shift in the Garchomp. She had heard Felix whisper something, but didn't manage to catch just what exactly her Trainer had said. For now the Ranger watched the Garchomp to see what exactly what Amethyst would do, and if there would have to be something done to remedy the situation.

Amethyst let off another roar, her movement crystal clear on what she was planning to do next- the Garchomp was going to charge. Fortunately, she appeared to be entirely focused on the Larvesta in front of her. Unfortunately for Felix, Amethyst appeared to be in no mood to only weaken the creature; it was apparent that she wanted to make mincemeat out of her opponent.

"Fumiyo, bring me the backpack! Hurry!" Felix called out frantically to his Cinccino. Thankfully, Fumiyo had hidden close by. In mere moments, the chinchilla creature was dashing over to her trainer, dragging along the backpack with her. With a mighty heave, Fumiyo threw over the pack to Felix.

Amethyst's reaction was immediate. She stopped in mid-run, stumbling a bit as she did so, as if a new presence was known to her. The Garchomp then swiveled her head over to Felix, and then to the backpack that was sprayed with a scent that was utterly repulsive to her. She took a short step back, then another.

Felix, taking advantage of Amethyst's pause, had managed to pull out the Dragon-type's Pokeball, calling out, "Return!" The Garchomp was called back to the Ball in a beam of light, if somewhat reluctantly. As soon as this was done, he let out a sigh of relief, "That was close. I definitely have to work on Amethyst's tantrums." Felix then nodded over to the nearby Cinccino. "Fumiyo, thanks. And great job."

Makina gave her Trainer an approving nod, glad to see that she did not have to step in to help. She idly skimmed the data she had uploaded earlier on her PDA, looking for an explanation on Amethyst's tantrum. While Garchomp were hardly known for their patience, the Pokemon had seemed somewhat calm earlier. She found Amethyst's entry, looked over the characteristics, and gave a small smile. The Garchomp had a Sassy disposition; such Pokemon loved being in the spotlight and being in complete control. Larvesta changing the weather around and then rendering Ground attacks ineffective most have seriously infuriated Amethyst.

At this point, Felix had pulled out another Pokeball. "Belle, it's your turn girl," he called out, the sphere opening to release another Dragon-type, this time a Dragonite. While they were certainly just as powerful as Garchomp, something about the Pokemon's demeanor told Makina that this one would not be rampaging anytime soon.

Belle materialized in a relaxed posture, looking about the area as if it was perfectly normal to be standing about in such a volcanic region. Her eyes finally rested on the hovering Larvesta, and her look changed to one of surprise; unsurprising, as Larvesta did not have wings to fly about.

Even though Felix appeared somewhat out of sorts by Amethyst's sudden charge earlier, he managed to stay focused on the fight. "Okay Belle, shield yourself with Safeguard then use Fire Punch," he commanded.

Belle nodded, and a thin azure-blue barrier began to encompass the Dragonite's body. Safeguard was a mainly strategic move- while it prevented most physical attacks from hitting, it's duration also was determined by how long the user could keep the barrier up. They could still attack, but that was about the limit. Once the barrier was fully formed, she lifted off the ground as one of her fists began to be engulfed in flames. She flew quickly towards her target, aiming for the Larvesta.

Larvesta appeared to be surprised by both his change of opponents and the newcomer's choice of attack. Not only was it attacking head-on, it was using a Fire-type technique to boot. He narrowed his blue eyes, and the creature's entire body seemed to shimmer a moment before fading away to reveal a tougher-looking carapace. Belle's attack still struck home, managing to do some decent damage despite the increased defense. Larvesta's body began to shimmer with heat once more, but the flames from Belle's punch and the Safeguard appeared to null the effect.

As Belle backed away, her attack complete, Larvesta began to glow with a blue energy, keeping his eyes on the Dragonite. Suddenly, Belle was shoved backwards with an unseen force, and her face was scrunched up in pain, as if she had an impressive headache. She was thrown a small distance upwards a moment, then crashed down to the ground as the aura faded from the Bug-type. Thankfully, Belle had managed to slightly break her fall by regaining control of her wings, so only took minor damage.

“That would be Psychic,” Makina remarked to her Trainer. Fire hybrid or not, looks like it does not like flames being so close by.”

The attack had set Belle several feet away from Larvesta, and appeared to have dazed the Dragonite somewhat. She managed to get back to her feet quickly though, and seemed to be giving her opponent a more wary look. Larvesta, in turn, did not look happy by this turn of events. He had taken a large amount of damage earlier, and this new enemy appeared to be almost untouched. This could possibly make the Pokemon resort to sneaker methods. He stood (or rather, hovered), and waited.

Fumiyo, on the other hand, did not appear fazed by the battle at all. She ran over to Aria, who was still looking over at the battle. The Gardevoir had lowered her barrier as soon as the sandstorm had ended, but was still keenly interested in the current conflict. Aria was completely unaware of the Cinccino, until Fumiyo's scarf brushed her leg as the Pokemon ran circles around her. The Gardevoir looked down, confused at Fumiyo's playful display. She looked over at Makina, at loss on what to do next.

Makina couldn't help but laugh a little as she saw Aria's reaction, prompting a frown from the Gardevoir. Aria was excellent at helping with transportation and delivery work, but she was a novice when dealing with kids or playful Pokemon.

With the crisis of Amethyst's tantrum now behind us, I had to shift my attention back into the battle at hand. Although at the moment Belle was enjoying the view, she knew that the reason she was there was to battle. As I voiced my command, she quickly responded to it.

Not only did large Dragon manage to create a barrier around herself, she managed to surprised the fiery bug with some fire of her own as she flew towards him and landed a Fire Punch. The Safeguard seemed to have successfully protected Belle from that Larvesta's fire. Still, even as she managed to land the punch, Belle didn't seem happy about Larvesta's painful reaction. She looked back at me with a saddened face which I quickly took note of. I smiled back and nodded as I understood her silent request to change the battle strategy. She just felt uncomfortable just punching the enemy like that.

Still, as we finished our exchange of expressions, something seemed to have taken over the Dragonite's body. She was quickly pushed back and was almost slammed into the ground. Luckily she managed to maneuver with her wings a bit to reduce the damage, but it still looked like it hurt a bit. Belle kept flapping her wings until she had lifted completely from the ground to have more room to move around.

"Alright Belle, change of plan. Use Thunder Wave." I said with a calm voice as I finally became more focused on the battle.

The orange dragon type Pokemon smiled a bit as began to focus her energy. Electric sparks began to run through her body and even jump out. Suddenly, Belle bellowed loudly as the electricity jumped out of her body and began to travel through the air attempting to envelop Larvesta.

"Have Agility ready to dodge!" I added with a loud voice to keep the Dragonite alert.

Belle looked back out of the corner of her eye for a second as she understood the command. Immediately after she shifted her sight back at her opponent. Paralyzed or not, he could still do plenty and possibly even come up with a surprise of his own. Belle was just readying herself to move at a high speed if the situation demanded it.

Meanwhile, Fumiyo was still trying to get Aria's attention. After running around her and noticing that she wasn't really doing anything, the Cinccino stopped and stared curiously at the Gardevoir. Fumiyo smiled towards the taller Pokemon as she grabbed one of her scarves and attempted to tickle her with it. It wasn't exactly a Tickle attack, but knowing that attack meant she did know how to at least get one laugh out of others. Still, it was yet to be seen if her mission to get Aria to laugh would a success or if it would somehow backfire.

    Ranger Makina Auron

    *~~~~~~~~~*

"Alright Belle, change of plan. Use Thunder Wave." Felix called out calmly once Belle had gotten back to her feet.

Belle nodded in response, and the Dragonite began to focus on creating an electrical field. Stray sparks began to jump along her body and, coupled with the glow from the Safeguard field still going strong, she gave off quite the eerie presence. Belle slowly moved the energy towards her hands, preparing to fling the static mass at the Larvesta.

Seeing that his opponent was up to something, Larvesta began to ready an attack of his own. The Bug-type began to raise his head and front legs towards the sky, as if reaching out towards something. The horns on the creature's head began to glow, charging up energy for an attack. The increased sunlight appeared to be increasing the charge at a startling speed.

Makina knew all too well what the Larvesta was up to- it was readying a SolarBeam, using the power of the sun to cut the charge time in half. In addition, with the Pokemon's increased speed, it was possible that it could finish the attack before the Thunder Wave was ready. Felix and Belle would have to act fast.

Felix had noticed the attack as well, "Have Agility ready to dodge!" he called out to Belle.

The Dragonite, still charging the attack, briefly looked over at her Trainer to acknowledge the command. She attempted to ready the attack faster, in a bid to out-speed the Larvesta.

At this point, Larvesta's horns began to shine brilliantly, full of solar energy. Aiming at the Dragonite, the creature fired. The beams began to join together as one, and shit through the air towards Belle. At the same moment, Belle released her attack as well, the focused electrical field flying straight at the Torch Pokemon.

The two attacks his their targets simultaneously, and Belle fell to one knee as the beam hit her. Thankfully, due to her dual resistance, the Dragonite took a lesser amount of damage. Larvesta, on the other hand, twitched as the electricity ran through his body, making his limbs feel heavier as the paralysis sunk in.

Belle quickly got back to her feet, and appeared to be brimming with energy. She took to the air, and the Dragonite began to fly faster then she had before. This sudden adrenaline boost could only be Agility, and, with Larvesta's sudden paralysis added to the mix, would give Belle full reign of the battle for now.

Oddly enough, Larvesta appeared unfazed by the Dragonite flitting about. In fact, the wild Pokemon had a perfectly blank look plastered to his face, as if he was spacing out. Makina was slightly confused by the Bug-type's action, then it finally clicked; it was using Amnesia, in an attempt to dull the senses and increase his defense even more.

Fumiyo, on the other hand, was still dead-set on her quest to have Aria play with her. She studied the Gardevoir a moment, then a tiny smile cracked on the Cinccino's face. She held one of the scarves attached to her body, and began to lightly tickle Aria with it, seeing if it would get a response out of her.

Aria darted away from the scarf, trying to avoid both the object and tiny Pokemon altogether. As she saw that there was no getting away from Fumiyo save for placing a barrier around the creature, she summoned a small mote of light down, letting it circle the creature. The improvised Confuse Ray would hopefully hold the Cinccino's attention, but not for long. <Some help would be appreciated here,> Aria grumbled, looking over at Makina once more.

The Ranger smirked, but could sense that the Gardevoir was getting impatient. If she became truly irritated, she would step in. For now though, she had to oversee the battle between Belle and Larvesta.

The strategy seemed to be a solid one. Thunder Wave would easily slow down Larvesta and make the battle a lot easier. As I made the command, I watch as electricity began to build in Belle's body. However, I had failed to consider Larvesta's increased speed. As my Dragonite prepared with her attack, the wild bug Pokemon was preparing his own as she absorbed sunlight, and there was plenty of it absorb. I wanted to find a way for Belle to hurry, but there really was nothing to do as her attack was already on its way.

Then it finally happened. Both attacks reached their climax simultaneously. I yelled towards Belle warning her to use her Agility attack to dodge, but, it was too late. She had been hit directly with a Solar Beam. Thankfully it didn't seem to hurt so much, and not only that, the Larvesta was successfully stunned by the Thunder Wave.

To add to that, the orange dragon Pokemon managed to recover some ground, or rather some air as she flew upwards with an impressive speed. It was certain. Although she didn't dodge this time, she was now ready with increased speed. However, it seemed that Larvesta wasn't impressed, or rather, it didn't look like he knew what was going on anymore. I wondered if the Thunder Wave caused a short circuit somewhere in his brain. Either way, the battle was not over.

For now, I thought it was time for a weather change. I looked upwards towards Belle and said, "Good going Belle! Now try a Rain Dance!"

As I said that, I quickly looked through my backpack and pulled out a small umbrella and opened it to shield myself. I looked back at the Ranger for a moment to see if she had some sort of protection herself. I'd assume she had an umbrella as well, if not, her Gardevoir might do something. That's when I noticed Fumiyo playing...or rather annoying Aria. The little Cinccino didn't seem to realize she was doing something wrong, but I had a battle to pay attention to. I hoped Fumiyo wouldn't get in trouble.

Meanwhile, the Dragonite had taken a deep breath and looked towards the sky before giving out a mighty roar that echoed through the distance. As the roar's sound subsided, rain clouds began appearing out of nowhere and a downpour quickly began. Each dropped made a soothing sound as it crashed onto the ground, but some quickly evaporated into a mist as they made contact with the lava in a few places.

I smiled at the scene as I enjoyed the scenery for a moment. The whole place seemed to have changed, but it had just been the weather. Having less heat to worry about also helped a lot.

Unaware of the fact that Larvesta's confused look was caused by an Amnesia attack, I called for the next move, "Okay Belle, Whirlpool!"

Belle nodded and stretched her arms forward. As she did, a small whirlpool appeared between her hands. She quickly raised it upwards as it suddenly became exponentially bigger, and apparently being aided by the rain. At that moment, the large Dragon simply let go of the Whirlpool and let it fall right over Larvesta. The fiery bug did seem a lot weaker than when the battle started. It was only a matter of time before the battle was done.

Behind me, Fumiyo had still been up to her games attempting to tickle the Gardevoir. Aria took her time, but it seemed that she had used some sort of move on Fumiyo. At that moment, Fumiyo stopped tickling Aria and moved the scarf towards her body. Yes, she started to tickle herself. She fell to her back laughing and seconds later got up attempting to run away apparently from her own scarf. In her rush she bumped into Ranger Makina. Poor Fumiyo simply fell to her back once more out of dizziness with a strange smiled fixed on her face. I couldn't help bug giggle a bit at the scene, but I had to make sure the Cinccino didn't hurt herself.

I took out her Pokemon and pointed it at her saying, "Fumiyo, return."

The familiar red beam came out of the ball and retrieved Fumiyo right into it. That would probably keep her save and out of trouble...for the moment at least.

    Ranger Makina Auron

    *~~~~~~~~~*

Judging by the confused look on her Trainer's face, Makina assumed that Felix had not figured out just what the Larvesta was up to. Regardless, he didn't let it affect his current strategy. "Good going Belle! Now try a Rain Dance!" he called out towards the Dragonite.

The locals are going to wonder what is going on here, Makina mused to herself. A sandstorm, blinding sunlight, and now rainfall beside an active volcano... it had to be quite a sight. And to be right in the center of it... the Larvesta surely had to be impressed, if it wasn't still dazing out thanks to Amnesia.

Belle, who had been fairly quiet throughout the entire run, took a deep breath before letting out a terrific roar towards the heavens. At first the outburst was surprising, but it proved that despite all her placidity, the Pokemon was still a powerful Dragonite. The sky soon began to be covered with clouds, and the first drops of rain began to drop down.

“Aria, would you be able to set up another barr-” Makina began out loud, but the stony glare the Gardevoir threw in her direction stopped her mid-sentence. She sighed, and retrieved a collapsible umbrella from her pack. It was less reliable than the ponchos that some of the Rangers used, but she was not going to take the time to take that out instead. No doubt Aria would give her a mind-lashing later for not helping out earlier.

Felix, thankfully, had been prepared as well. As the raindrops began to fall down in heavier amounts, he was safely huddled underneath an umbrella of his own. He even appeared to be in better spirits thanks to the downfall; likely because Fire-types hated the rain. After a moment, he called out his next attack, "Okay Belle, Whirlpool!"

Belle lifted her arms upwards, and a ring of swirling water began to materialize between her hands. The aquatic mass began to grow larger, enough so the center could hold an unfortunate creature, and slowly floated towards the Larvesta.

As it reached almost directly above him, Larvesta began to snap out of his self-inflicted trance, and looked upwards. The Bug-type let out an earsplitting screech, and warped into a cacophony of a twisted melody. The notes appeared to pierce the very air itself, causing both humans and Pokemon to cover their ears. Bella instinctively went to cover her own ears as well, and the Whirlpool crashed down upon the Larvesta, drenching the creature and canceling the Round.

Makina sighed as the noise died down, but then something ran into her leg at that moment. The Ranger looked down, and was greeted by a clearly confused Fumiyo. The Cinccino had fallen to her feet, staring dazedly at nothing with a smile on her face. Nearby, Aria was staring at Fumiyo, giving an awkward shrug. Apparently the Gardevoir had gone a little too far in her attempt at repelling the playful Pokemon. She tossed over a grin at Aria, then looked back down at the confused Fumiyo.

Felix had noticed as well, and was chuckling a little from the display. He had pulled out the Cinccino's Pokeball, and was aiming it at the creature, "Fumiyo, return." The sphere safely recalled the dazed Fumiyo, leaving behind two amused humans and an embarrassed Gardevoir.

Now thoroughly soaked and truly angry, Larvesta began to shriek once more, this time at a higher note. The sound-waves were literally visible at this point, and resounded through the Whirlpool and flying straight for Belle. The Dragonite covered her ears once more, and the Safeguard barrier flickered dangerously. The noise was beginning to break her concentration, and the veil would shatter unless Felix came up with something.

I smiled as I saw the rainfall start. The skies had turned grey and it was perfect to face a fire type Pokemon, but more importantly, it wasn't as hot as before anymore. Belle didn't seem to mind the rain at all thankfully. She seemed quite content with is as well. On the other hand, Larvesta seemed annoyed by the downpour. Still, if it was annoyed by that, it would be furious by what was about to happen next.

At my command, Belle began to create a swirling pool of water between her hands which grew rapidly and more powerful thanks to the rain. The Whirlpool was soon ready to be unleashed, so orange dragon released it letting it gently fall over the Larvesta who was immediately trapped in it. Still, Larvesta wasn't just going to take that without having something to say about it, or rather something to screech about as the fiery Pokemon opened his mouth letting out a very loud noise. Everyone, including the large Dragonite, quickly covered their ears to block out the noise.

As the sonic attack subsided, Belle went back to focus on the battle, but that was just Larvesta's opening performance. The flaming bug was notably irritated at this point due to all the water around so it took a big breath and let out an even louder noise than before. You could see the air around ripple a bit due to the force of the decibels that had been unleashed.

I didn't know if Belle was going to be able to hear me through all of this at all, but I had to try my best. As I held my ears shut tightly, I looked up towards my Dragonite and shouted as loudly as I could, "Protect!"

Immediately after, I saw Belle's Safeguard vanish. For a moment I worried that something could have been terribly wrong. I should have known she was just saving up energy. Without the burden of having to hold that first coat of protection, the large dragon-type Pokemon tried her best to focus her energy and create a bigger barrier around her body, hopefully strong enough to block out the sound.

Still, I was too busy trying to keep my head together due to that horrible noise. I couldn't really tell what was happening, that is, until the Bug Buzz finally ended. Then I quickly looked up towards Belle. It seemed that she was still able to fight. Seeing how horrible it was to endure those sound attacks though, I thought we had to do something about them.

"Belle, quick, mix in Twister!" I said with a hurried voice.

Belle nodded and quickly took a dive towards the Whirlpool. The dragon began flying in circles around it, following the water's motion. Soon, the wind started to pick up in the area, but it was no ordinary wind. There was a strange energy to it that was very noticeable. The empowered wind began to swirl over the whirlpool as the attack was finally completed. The Twister soon landed its base on the center of the whirlpool releasing its energy into the water. I hoped that, not only would it deliver some extra damage, but the Twister could possibly even make the Whirlpool stronger as the two attacks shared the same swirling motion.

I knew that my Dragonite wasn't about to waste energy on attempting to strike again since neither of us knew exactly what that Larvesta had been up to so far, so the only thing to do was wait and see. Things did seem to be moving smoother now than when Amethyst was running the battle. I did hope she didn't have her ego crushed too hard.

    Ranger Makina Auron

    *~~~~~~~~~*

"Protect!" Felix shouted out towards the Dragonite in a a desperate attempt to be heard over the screeching noise Bug Buzz was making. It was fortunate that Felix had recalled Fumiyo not long ago- judging from the look on Belle's face, the noise was bothering her far more then it was the humans.

On that note, Makina looked over at Aria, checking to see how the Gardevoir was faring. She appeared to have placed a small barrier about her, but didn't seem too happy in the least. To save her partner from wasting any needless energy that they may need later, the Ranger retrieved Aria's Pokeball and recalled the Gardevoir in a red beam of light.

During this action, Belle had fully canceled her Safeguard. The blue barrier slowly faded away, leaving the Dragonite vulnerable for the moment. Moments later though, the blue barrier was replaced by one with golden color; Felix's command had indeed reached his Pokemon. The Protect shimmered around it's creator, making a soundproof area for Belle to take refuge in. In addition, the waves caused by Bug Buzz simply bounced off of the field.

Larvesta, seeing that his attack was useless, finally ceased his shrieking. However, while the Dragonite was trying to block the attack, the Pokemon could not counter as well. Larvesta thought a moment, then closed his eyes, appearing motionless for the moment. When the Torch Pokemon opened his eyes once more, they were filled with a calmness and clarity that had not been there before- this was likely Calm Mind, a technique used to increase the user's durability and skill.

Shortly after the last sound waves had faded, Belle lowered her barrier. While Protect was an excellent move as it blocked almost all attacks, the technique prevented the user from going on the offensive while it was up. In addition, the move could rarely be used in succession, as it took quite a bit of the Pokemon's stamina.

Seeing that Belle could hear once more, Felix quickly called out his next attack, "Belle, quick, mix in Twister!"

Belle nodded, then darted her way towards the Whirlpool, circling around it. The winds from her moving about, added along with a little energy from the Dragonite, created a powerful twister alongside the watery cyclone. Not only did the attack quicken the whirlpool by an impressive amount, but some of the winds managed to reach the center of the storm, striking the Larvesta along with some of the residual water that already came along with Whirlpool. The creature hit the side of the water wall for a moment, but barely managed to scramble back to the center.

Unfortunately, due to the increased speed that Twister had created, it also made the Whirlpool slightly unstable. The cyclone still moved about, but appeared to be in danger of collapsing. It was likely that it would stay up much longer.

Larvesta, seeing the change to his prison, attempted to use this moment to strike. The wild Pokemon turned his beady blue eyes towards, glowing as he charged another attack. Before he could fully launch the move, however, he appeared to stiffen in place. Immediately, the glow faded, the move failing.

“Looks like Larvesta is truly feeling his paralysis now,” Makina pointed out to Felix. “It doesn't look like he can take many more hits, though.”

The noise was horrible to listen to. It felt like my eardrums were beating hard and hurting as Larvesta's buzzing sound resonated. I looked up at my Pokemon who was flying above us only to noticed that she looked far worse. The look of pain in her face was horrid. I had to do something to help her and get us back the upper hand over the battle. At my command, the Dragonite attempted to create a protective barrier. She had a preventive coat already over her, but it seemed that the noise was breaking her focus too badly. In order to protect herself, she felt she had to get rid of that coat.

The blue aura over her body quickly disappeared and, with one less thing to focus on, she spread her arms as a yellow light surrounded her body and spread out as a barrier. Sure, on the outside, the fiery bug Pokemon's attack still echoed, but inside the barrier, everything was quiet enough for Belle to relax. Soon Larvesta realized that his efforts were being wasted, so he finally silenced himself. But the current set back meant that he now had to think of something else. He seemed to have thought for a moment and closed his eyes. Was he meditating or something? At least the look on his face seemed like a very serene one. It was obvious that the Pokemon was badly hurt, but it had done something to calm himself down.

Belle's protection soon faded and that was the time to carry on with the battle. I quickly asked her to use Twister as a combination attack which was just fine by her. She swoop down towards the giant whirlpool Larvesta had been trapped in and began to fly swiftly around it. She kept on flying in circles around the swirling water causing the wind to pick up. As the wind became stronger and stronger it began to swirl around as well matching the spin of the whirlpool bellow. The two attack soon connected at both their bases becoming one. The energy of the Twister managed to push the Larvesta deeper into the water while increasing the speed of the whirlpool. All of this together was clearly taking a toll on the flaming Pokemon who didn't seem to be enjoying this at all.

Still, it became very clear by the way the water was behaving that the whirlpool had become stronger, but it was probably not going to hold for too long. Thankfully, Larvesta seemed to have been weakened by a great deal since the battle had begun. The time for the capture was very close, but I had to make sure. Right now, making sure the wild Pokemon was tired enough for that was the best thing to do.

"Alright Belle, that's enough attacking for now. Let's try to tiring him out. Use Agility once more and fly around the Whirlpool to keep it steady!" I said with a confident tone. I was sure this was about to end soon.

The orange dragon Pokemon bellowed a bit as she shifted the course of her flight from around the Twister to a lower level, now flying around the water. Ignoring the dragon type wind completely, she now focused on the Whirlpool and on her opponent. As she kept flying at a very impressive velocity, her speed suddenly began to increase even more to the point where we could feel the breeze her flight was creating from where we were standing. Still, her body was facing the water which meant that a much stronger wind was being lifted there attempting to hold the whirlpool together.

I really hopde that would work or at the very list throw Larvesta's aim off. But that just wasn't enough for now. I knew that Larvesta had plenty of tricks left and Belle needed to regain her protection.

"Belle, try Safeguard one more time!" I shouted with enthusiasm.

Belle nodded as she listen to those words. In her middle of her flight, her body began to glow in a light blue color yet again as she recovered her protective coating. The glow was still as dazzling as before but at this speed it even created the illusion of a blue wring being created around the Whirlpool.

And now we had to wait once more to see what the crafty Pokemon would come up with. At least now Fumiyo was all calm inside her Pokeball, or so I thought. It was one less thing to worry about for the moment. Right then I looked around and noticed that Ranger Makina's Gardevoir was gone too. I wonder what could have happened.

    Ranger Makina Auron

    *~~~~~~~~~*

Felix, noticing that the Whirlpool was beginning to falter, took action immediately, "Alright Belle, that's enough attacking for now. Let's try to tiring him out. Use Agility once more and fly around the Whirlpool to keep it steady!"

Belle nodded, and continued to fly around the wavering cyclone. As she did so, the Dragonite began to move even faster, becoming a lightning orange blur as she circled the storm in an attempt to put back into order. Amazingly, the plan, while improvised, managed to just barely work. The Whirlpool appeared to lean in on itself a moment, in danger of collapsing, then slowly molded back to it's original form.

Larvesta, still caught in the eye of the storm, was trying his absolute best to cling to the ground as the winds and water struck him mercilessly from all sides. As the whirlpool slowed a moment as it shifted back to normal, the Bug-type wearily blinked as it tried to take a breather before acting.

"Belle, try Safeguard one more time!" Felix shouted out towards the Dragonite. It was clear that, despite the rain still pouring down, he wished to make sure Belle had no chance of being burned.

Another Safeguard began to materialize around the Dragonite, the sky-blue barrier making Belle glow slightly as she moved her form about in the rainstorm.

At that moment, Larvesta decided to release his attack. The Torch Pokemon began to glow with a blue aura as well, the shade so light it could almost be considered white. The light pulsed for a split second, then burst forth to strike the area surrounding the user and, in turn, the Whirlpool itself. The move was Hidden Power. Judging from the hue, along with the fact that any rain touching the pulse had immediately dropped to the ground as small pieces of hail, Makina had a good guess as to what type this specific move was.

Belle, focused on her work, was caught flat-footed as the attack struck her. The Dragonite let out a pained cry, the move causing her great harm. Trying her best to escape the cursed coldness that was beginning to grip her, Belle darted away from the cyclone, now safely out of range. Due to her work in preserving it, the Whirlpool still swirled along it's course for now.

His attack finished, Larvesta began to act on the defensive. A barrier of his own began to form around the Wild Pokemon, with the same blue shade as Safeguard but shaped in a different form. It was clear that the Larvesta planned to take even more of a beating, but planned to go down fighting.

I was really hoping to see something good come out of this weird strategy. I could only wait as I watched my Dragonite take a dive towards the Whirlpool and begin flying in circles around it. It seemed to be going great. Not only did she become faster than before to the point where it was very hard to keep up with my eyes, but the strong wind she was creating was actually helping keep the swirling waters together. The Whirlpool's shape looked great which only meant that the wild Larvesta wasn't going to be happy about this at all.

As a precaution, I asked for Belle to restore her Safeguard. It's a good thing she was so good at staying calm. That was her nature after all. She managed to focus and recreate that beautiful glowing coat around her body, hopefully giving her a bit more of an edge over the situation. I was feeling very confident myself as I saw how well everything was going.

Still, I would have never expected to see what happened next. The fiery Pokemon had a secret move apparently. He began to focus as a strange light blue energy enveloped his body. I knew I had seen that before somewhere. It wasn't a Safeguard for sure. It looked more like an offensive move somehow. And that's when it hit me.

I opened my eyes widely as I yelled, “Belle, look out!”

But it was too late. The Larvesta had released his Hidden Power which spread in all directions giving the large dragon nowhere to hide. The attack had made a direct hit. I could almost feel her pain as the Dragonite cried in pain. I saw the way she flew away from the Whirlpool, if not due to the surprise, due to the pain it had caused her. I stopped for a moment, thinking about what to do next. I looked at Belle and she seemed to have at least recovered for the shock and calmed down again. She looked down at me, apparently waiting for another command.

I smiled at her and thought, ”Wow, Belle's determination sometimes surprises. She's still willing to battle after being hit like that with an Ice attack...Ice attack?...Ice...” I followed the trail of thought as I whispered, “That's it!”

I suddenly gave Belle an even bigger smile than before. This time, perfectly showing that I felt that this was going to be the conclusion of the battle and that it was going to go in our favor. Belle herself smiled back, a bit excited too as she understood my facial expression.

“Belle, let's end this!” I shouted as my sight darted towards the Whirlpool.

I thought to myself, ”Larvesta must have seriously cooled down everything over there with that Hidden Power, especially with the rain having gotten rid of the heat there was before.”

I then followed up the command for my Dragonite as I pointed towards the swirling water, “Head to the base of the Whirlpool and use Ice Punch!”

Having acknowledge the command, Belle nodded and quickly dashed with an impressive speed towards the base of what was left of her own attack. She closed her fist tightly as a cold blue energy began to flow out of it. With all her strength, she jabbed forward towards the water releasing all that power. Immediately, the water started to freeze right before our eyes. The ice quickly traveling upwards until the entire structure became completely solid, hopefully encasing Larvesta as well.

If that was the case, I knew I had to act fast before he made his way out of the ice. I quickly reached for one of my Parkballs and looked back at the orange dragon Pokemon.

“Belle, help me out here!” I shouted as I thew the ball high up towards the ice.

The Dragonite quickly dashed upwards and with one swift motion she turned around and slugged the ball with her tail causing the Parkball to be shot straight towards Larvesta. And that was it. I had finally thrown the Parkball. It was easy to see that I was excited about this.

“Come on, we need that Larvesta for our team...” I said to myself, probably in a louder voice than I thought. All I could do now was wait once more, only this time, it could really be over.
