"We're going to the Gardens, Cryogonal! Our Trainer's name is Airik, and they're a first-timer." I said to my Pokemon partner. In spite of his nickname, he was actually a Scizor.

My Scizor nodded, smiling a little. There was nothing quite like introducing a Trainer to the National Park - it just makes you feel proud that you've been able to share the wonders of this place with yet another person. Also, the pay was pretty good.

The Gardens weren't too far away. We made it to the Ranger Outpost in a few minutes, and I sat down on the park bench outside of the small shack. I sighed contentedly, enjoying the nice weather we had today.

The Botanic Gardens were a little bit off to my left. Even from here, I could see the vivid hues of purples, red, blues, and yellows that were the flowers of the Gardens. The Garden caretakers were very proud of these flowers gardens in particular, and they even had the path to the Gardens reconstructed years ago so that the first section any Trainers would walk through would be the flower gardens. That, of course, was Park history nobody really cared about, though.

I watched my Scizor walk over and sniff some of the flowers as I waited for Airik to show up.

Airik walked up the path to where he was supposed to meet his guide, this was Airik's first time in the National Park he had planned to visit the Botanical Gardens. Airik was a botanical anatomist his speciality was the physiology of grass type pokemon and he was here to expand his collection.

Reaching into his ever present bag Airik grabbed a pokeball and released his Shiftry "Come on out old friend" Airik shouted as he released the first pokemon he ever caught. "You my friend are going on a grand adventure, but before we get there it seems like it may start to rain soon so can you use Sunny Day and make sure we have good weather for this outing" Airik walked on as Shiftry began to move his arms in some strange rhythm known only to him.

Airik was glad the sun was out, It would encourage the grass types out in to the open. "There Shiftry, up ahead that must be our ranger" Airik looked back as he talked to his friend. Airik waved to the man in the distance and picked up his pace to close the gap. "Hello there" he shouted as soon as the man was within earshot.

Once Airik was face to face with his ranger he extended his hand, "Hello I'm Dr. Stormgrad." Airik said excited about the journey ahead.

OOC: I don't know if you already know this or not, but since this is your first time, I'll tell you just in case. If you already know, great, but in case you didn't, to use your Normal Repellant you'll have to say your character sprayed it in the air in your post. If you want to use it immediately, RP your character spraying it on the way to the Garden and I'll see it when I read the post. If you want to use it later for whatever reason, then use it whenever you want outside of battle.

A man approached me. There was a Shiftry beside him, and he carried himself importantly. His face matched that of the Trainer in the Park application sent to me by the receptionists at the Front Gate - this was my Trainer, Airik.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Stormgrad," he introduced himself, holding out a hand. I found myself intrigued by his title of doctor, wondering what he studied. Still, now wasn't the time to ask.

"My name is John Shay, and I'll be your Ranger today." My Scizor walked over and nodded to acknowledge Dr. Stormgrad and his Shiftry. "This is Cryogonal, my Scizor." I noticed he had a Normal Repellant, and I wondered if he was planning to use it on this Run.

I nodded to the flower fields, wondering whether they had attracted his interest yet. "Let's get started, Doctor."

We began walking towards the flower garden. Immediately, the bright colors of the flowers swallowed my vision. Because of this place's natural beauty, a lot of Pokemon enjoyed hanging out around this year. Usually, Trainers encountered Pokemon at a very high rate here.

As if on cue, the sunflowers to my left shuffled. I stopped and stared at the flowers. A small green Pokemon crawled out of the flowers. It was green, with a small yellow crown on its hand. Small spikes lined its body and hands, and it vaguely resembled a cactus. This was Cacnea.

    "Cacnea!" the Pokemon cried.

"Want to try and capture this Pokemon?" I asked Airik.

"My name is John Shay, and I'll be your Ranger today." the man said as Airik extended his hand to him, soon the trio where joined by a large mantis like pokemon. "Fascinating" was all Airik could say. "This is Cryogonal, my Scizor." but the rangers words simply faded into the air as Airik was examining his pokemon, "I see a lot of bug types in my work, there important part of any ecosystem where grass pokemon are predominant but I have never had the chance to see a Scizor close up before" Airik explained while jotting down notes and approximate measurements of the creature before him. After a short time the note taking and enthusiasm stopped and Airik managed to compose himself.

"Sorry" he said "I'm a botanical anatomist so my speciality is grass type pokemon", Airik reached down and collected something from his bag "Ahh this is what I'm after" he said as he sprayed the contents of the bottle over himself and John. "This should help ward off the Pokemon I am not interested in, the only down side is it will also keep any Deerling or Sawsbuck away but I've had plenty of time to study both in the wild." Airik said all this while walking further into the park.

"Let's get started, Doctor." Airik heard John say, at this he simply nodded his attention already else where consumed by the vivid colours of the flower fields, this is perfect he thought to himself. It wasn't long before a small pokemon crawled out of an adjacent flowerbed, emerging from a group of sun flowers a small green pokemon appeared at first glance it resembled a small cactus.

    "Cacnea" the creature cried

"Want to try and capture this Pokemon?" John asked, "I believe I do" Airik replied, "Cacnea, now if I'm not mistaken evolve into Cacturne a Grass and Dark type pokemon just like my Shiftry here." Airik pondered his options, while he was thinking he was struck at how odd it is to see a Cacnea in this environment they usually preferred far more arid conditions than where available in this part of the Botanical Garden. "I'm a little surprised John" Airik said "I wouldn't normally expect to see a Cacnea anywhere except a desert type environment so how come its hiding in these flowerbeds. You know the area better than me any reason as to why it could be here?" Airik asked, "at any rate my best option here will be to use Roserade at this stage in its life its still just a basic grass type and will be weak to Roserade's poison type attacks while being a grass type herself should limit the amount of damage this Cacnea can do."

Airik searched around in his ever present bag and grabbed a small ball, "This is the one" he said while throwing the ball out into the air and in a flash of light the ball opened and Roserade emerged. "Ok Roserade, lets weaken this little guy down so we can capture it and study it" Airik said, "I'm eager to wrap this up so we can get on with our day so Roserade use a Toxic attack follow that up with a Poison Sting."

ooc: Male Cacnea please and since I Used sunny day earlier I'm guessing that the sun is still out?

    BP-1: Roserade VS Cacnea

    Ranger John Shay

OOC: Correct, the weather is sunny and that will last for five posts. Also, sorry if my post is a little long. I kind of wrote a lot more than I thought I had

"I believe I do," Airik replied, "Cacnea, now if I'm not mistaken, evolve into Cacturne, a Grass and Dark type Pokemon just like my Shiftry here." I nodded at this absently as Airik seemed to mull things over. He suddenly remarked, "I'm a little surprised, John, I wouldn't normally expect to see a Cacnea anywhere except a desert type environment, so how come it's hiding in these flowerbeds? You know the area better than me, any reason as to why it could be here?"

This kind of a question was well outside my realm out of knowledge. I did know the area better than him, but I was no expert on Pokemon habitat preferences. "I don't really know that, I'm afraid. If there's one thing I can say, though, it's that the National Park isn't really your typical Pokemon habitat, as much as we Rangers try to make it a perfect place for the Pokemon. I know we don't have a desert area in the Botanic Gardens, but the guys who built the National Park ages ago have populated every area with Pokemon they believe belong in that area more than any other. Obviously, I didn't have a hand in that, but I think it's safe to assume that they think this was the best area for Cacnea. At any rate, it seems to enjoy this place."

Pleased with myself for mustering up even that feeble explanation, I returned my focus to the looming battle between Airik and Cacnea. It seemed Airik had decided on his choice of Pokemon for this battle.

"At any rate, my best option here will be to use Roserade. At this stage in its life, it's still just a basic Grass type and will be weak to Roserade's Poison-type attacks, while being a Grass-type herself should limit the amount of damage this Cacnea can do. Ah, this is the one," Airik exclaimed, pulling out a Pokeball from his bag. He tossed it out, and his Roserade appeared.

"Okay Roserade, let's weaken this little guy down so we can capture it and study it," Airik said, "I'm eager to wrap this up so we can get on with our day. Roserade, use a Toxic attack. Follow that up with a Poison Sting."

Roserade nodded, wasting no time in getting to action. She spat out a sickly looking muck of poison at Cacnea. The Pokemon jumped, and tried sidestepping the poison. Unfortunately, his small stubby legs proved to be a huge hindrance, and Cacnea ended up taking the Toxic attack full to the face. He was now badly poisoned. I looked at Airik. He was very lucky, having been able to land a status condition move on the first turn of the battle against a Pokemon at full health. This should work greatly in his favour.

Roserade wasn't done yet, however. She whipped her in Cacnea's direction, and purple thorns shot out of the roses on her hands. Cacnea was still wincing from the poison, but was able to do something about Roserade's move this time. He spat out small green thorns from his mouth - Pin Missile. The Pin Missile met the Poison Sting in mid-air, and some of them connected with the other and fell to the ground. Enough had slipped through to land a decent hit on both Pokemon, however.

I noticed that Cacnea had taken a lot more Poison Stings than Roserade had Pin Missiles - I guess that was the difference in skill level factoring in. Of course, Cacnea had used Pin Missile as a desperation move anyways, so expecting a whole lot of it wasn't really fair. And then there was the Toxic eating away at Cacnea's body. It was now a matter of time for Airik, since the damage from Toxic really built up over time.

"Yes" Airik exclaimed as the ball of toxic goo impacted with the Cacnea. Just then Roserade whipped around with the grace of a dancer and pointed one of her bouquet like hands at the Cacnea and unleashed a Poison Sting. It was on target however the little cactus type pokemon in front of her retaliated shooting off its own thorns the two streams of tiny daggers collided mid air, after the dust had settled both battlers had Barbs sticking out of there bodies but it appeared that the Cacnea had come off worse.

"So" Airik said turning to John. "Have you been a ranger long?, what do you know about the history of the park and the gardens." Airik looked at the Cacnea "I hadn't planned on capturing a Cacnea today, I am sure you have trainers come in here with a list of pokemon that they want to capture but this little guy has guts."

"Well done Roserade your doing really well" Airik knew that some of it was luck and part of it down to Roserade's experience and finesse in battle. "Ok Roserade, gather some of the suns energy and use your weather ball." Roserade spun around on the spot raising its arms to the sun and a small orb began to form between her hands. "Good Roserade, Follow that Weather Ball up with another Poison Sting lets weaken this Cacnea down some more"

    BP-2: Roserade VS Cacnea

    Ranger John Shay

"Well done, Roserade, you're doing really well!" Airik exclaimed. "Okay Roserade, gather some of the sun's energy and use your Weather Ball."

Rosreade nodded, and gathered a ball of energy between her hands. The air around the ball seemed to be sucked into it, and it took on a fiery-red tinge. This was Weather Ball, an attack that changed type based on the weather. With this Sunny weather, the attack would be Fire-type - perfect against Grass-types like Cacnea. Roserade tossed the Weather Ball at Cacnea. The Grass-type Pokemon, still shaken up from all the attacks it had been taking of late, was unable to dodge in time and took this attack square to the chest.

"Good, Roserade, follow that Weather Ball up with another Poison Sting! Let's weaken this Cacnea down some more," Airik said.

Roserade nodded, and flung another row of purple needles at Cacnea. Cacnea was struck again, and winced. It was really taking a beating here.

Cacnea lifted his head. There was a clear sense of stress on his face as he realized he was getting totally pummeled here. At the same time, though, there was some determination. This caught my attention, and I wondered what he would be trying.

I noticed a few roots snake their way out of the ground, and latch themselves on to Cacnea's lower body. This was Ingrain - a healing move that would definitely lessen Toxic's effects on Cacnea. It would help the Pokemon revitalize himself a bit for the daunting task of pulling off a comeback here, which admittedly was realistically impossible. Still, I didn't blame the Pokemon for trying to have faith, even in an hopeless situation. It was something I found admirable, actually.

Next, Cacnea began gathering in energy from the air around it. Particles of energy became visible as they formed a ball in front of Cacnea's mouth. I recognized this move - it was the infamous Grass-type move, Solarbeam. In the sun, it would form at even quicker rate due to the extra sunlight energy being available in the air. Roserade resisted Solarbeam as both a Grass-type and a Poison-type, but the sheer power of the move alone meant it could do a solid amount of damage.

Cacnea fired the beam at Roserade. Airik would have to respond quickly here to avoid taking the hit.

Airik looked at the situation before him, this Cacnea was brave it had used its Ingrain to try and regain health. "John, this poor mite is going to try and hold out to the end isn't it" Airik said looking over at his ranger guide. "I like that, it will make this a good solid capture" Airik looked at the Cacnea some more and pulled out his Pokedex. The Little red box whirred into life and a small Mechanical voice began to talk "Cacnea, the Cactus pokemon. Cacnea lives in dry desert areas, and attacks by swinging it's pin covered arms like hammers" the noise from the pokedex stopped and Airik shut it down.

Roserade was waiting for it's next command patiently eyeing up the competition "Roserade, do you see Cacnea has used Ingrain. I would like you to use another Weather ball, aim for its lower body try and burn away some of those roots lets limit it's ability to heal" Airik shouted across he again looked at the situation Cacnea was staying awfully still. Suddenly small orbs of light started to become visible travelling towards the Cacnea spiralling right out of control into it's mouth where a small ball of pure light began to form. A Solar Beam Airik thought, this is one tough Cacnea. Taking a few seconds to think Airik decided on a plan of action, it was risky but might just work.

"Roserade, After using the Weather Ball I want you to take the hit from the Solar Beam, use your body to absorb the hit and contain the energy and then use Synthesis." Airik turned to John "I'm thinking if Roserade can take the hit and absorb the energy from it she can heal right back up using synthesis, all that does is convert stored solar energy into nutrients quickly healing damage and all Solar Beam is, is pure solar energy." Airik was smirking this plan was clever but he wasn't exactly sure that, that was how it would work. Regardless he thought to himself, the suns out and synthesis will likely heal Roserade up anyway and she would resist some of the damage, if it didn't work Roserade wouldn't be much worse than she was now.

Airik looked over at his ranger and began to eye him up slightly, I wonder what he thinks about all this. "John, any thoughts on the battle my strategy or any improvements that could be made, I'm always looking to collect as much data as possible during an experiment and that's what this is. I don't think I've ever heard of a Solar Beam being countered this way before. Then again that's not surprising usually you wouldn't use a grass attack against a grass type pokemon." Airik waited to hear what his Ranger had to say on the subject, again he had his notepad out and was taking notes.

"After that Roserade, Retaliate really hit it with your Poison Sting and make it count." Airik knew this fight was coming to an end, the Toxic was building up in its system and would do a lot more damage now than before and Roserade's Weather Ball was likely to heap more on top of that. Hopefully the effective counter of its Solar Beam will demoralise it and make Cacnea realise this fights over. Airik reached into his bag and pulled out one of the park balls, he looked at it and then tapped the button in the middle of the ball and prepared to throw it. In that brief moment Airik remembered capturing Roserade, it was only a Budew then but it put up a fight, eventually it's weakness to psychic types allowed Shiftry to get the upper hand using Extrasensory but not before Shiftry was poinsoned and burned. That was a tough battle, nothing like this but still this Cacnea was brave and hopeful however wrong it really was.

    BP-3: Roserade VS Cacnea

    Ranger John Shay

While Cacnea had been charging up SolarBeam, Airik had not been standing by idly. I noticed he had commanded his Roserade to use another Weather Ball, aimed towards the roots connecting to Cacnea's body. Roserade flung another ball of fiery energy at Cacnea.

Cacnea fired the SolarBeam, but was struck by the Weather Ball at the same time. The SolarBeam cut off abruptly as Cacnea winced and dropped to the ground in pain, but there was still enough solar energy heading towards Roserade to do a fair amount of damage.

"Roserade, after using the Weather Ball, I want you to take the hit from the Solar Beam. Use your body to absorb the hit and contain the energy and then use Synthesis," Airik commanded. Turning to me, he explained, "I'm thinking if Roserade can take the hit and absorb the energy from it, she can heal right back up using Synthesis. All that does is convert stored solar energy into nutrients, quickly healing damage and all SolarBeam is, is pure solar energy."

I raised an eyebrow, very impressed by his logic here. This was an ingenious plan, one I never would even have considered. I fully expected to work out very well for him.

Roserade stood her ground, and took the SolarBeam. Immediately, however, she began glowing light green as she used Synthesis, transforming the energy from SolarBeam into HP. Very quickly, she had absorbed all of the SolarBeam, and from the looks of things, she was back at full health. She hadn't taken much damage to begin with, but that was all due to Airik's very impressive battling thus far.

"After that, Roserade, retaliate! Really hit it with your Poison Sting and make it count," Airik commanded. It looked like he was busting everything out now to set up for a capture. Roserade obliged, throwing another round of poisoned thorns from her flowers at Cacnea. These struck the Pokemon as well, and I noticed it was looking very weak. Even with Ingrain offsetting some of the damage, Toxic was really beginning to build up. Cacnea was ready to be captured now.

Cacnea raised his head, clearly weakened but still showing some resiliency. He began glowing dark brown with energy I recognized as Fighting-type energy. Suddenly, that energy exploded towards Roserade and slammed into her. This was Counter, an attack that did double the damage of the last hit the user had taken, as long as that hit was from a Physical move. Poison Sting certainly fit the bill as a Physical move, and because Cacnea was a Grass-type Pokemon weak to Poison-type moves, it would've been more powerful to begin with. This was a very gutsy move from the Cacnea, and I could tell that even in his weakened state, he had some moxie left. Very impressive, though this battle was looking like it was about to wrap up.

"Ok" Airik shouted, "Roserade You've done great now jump back and take a break use synthesis to recover your health". Roserade jumped out of Cacneas way as Airik threw the pokeball in an attempt to capture the Cacnea. Airik and John waited with suspense to see what would happen, as the ball flew through the air a knot of anxious excitement grew in the pit of Airik's stomach.

ooc: Yes I am aware this wasn't much but I'm going out today and sort of wanted to get this capture over and done with so I can carry on with more mons later

OOC: I'm fine with posts being short every once in a while, and if they're capture posts, then I can understand you not wanting to type up another 3k long post. With that said, the Park has a minimum character limit for posts: 500 characters. Yours was 377. I made an exception here because this is your first time in the Park, but even when you don't want to write much, you'll have to at least cough up 500 characters. Also next time, you'll need to specify which type of Pokeball you're using, but I'll just say Park Ball here because I'm sure that's what you wanted.

"Okay Roserade, you've done great, now jump back and take a break! Use Synthesis to recover your health!" Airik commanded. Roserade nodded, and hopped away from Cacnea. Solar energy wrapped around her as the sun's rays began to heal her, returning her to full health.

Airik, meanwhile, tossed his Park Ball at the Cacnea. He was definitely on edge right now - it was evident on his face. As the Park Ball approached Cacnea, he put up one last stand before submitting to the capsule. He lifted an arm, and fired a brief round of Pin Missiles at Roserade. The few needles he managed to fire off connected, but for minimal damage. Cacnea was sucked into the Park Ball.

The Park Ball began shaking violently. Cacnea was definitely very weak, but it was still putting up a remarkable fight. This Pokemon's will continued to impress me, but it was futile. The Park Ball dinged once, twice, and thrice, and then stopped moving.

I smiled at Airik. "You've just captured your first Pokemon in the Park - congratulations!"

I let him and his Roserade celebrate as I walked over to the Cacnea's Park Ball, putting it in my pocket for now. "Since you're only allowed to take three Pokemon away from the Park, I collect your captures and hold on to them until the end of the run, at which point you'll be allowed to pick three of the Pokemon you captured to take home with you," I explained. "So, whenever you're ready, let me know and we can keep moving."

"Roserade Return" Airik holding up her pokeball she nodded and basked in the beam of red light as it enveloped her before she vanished back in to the ball. "You've just captured your first Pokemon in the Park - congratulations!" John smiled at Airik while saying this, "Thank you" Airik replied. "I'm ready now, I would quite like to find a Ferroseed or the evolved form Ferrothorn, other than that I'm just here to expand my now growing collection of grass types" Airik said his eyes darting all around to see if he could spot any more wild pokemon.

"I'm ready now, I would quite like to find a Ferroseed or the evolved form Ferrothorn. Other than that, I'm just here to expand my now growing collection of Grass-types," Airik replied, eagerly casting his eyes about for Pokemon.

I nodded at him. "Well, if it's a Ferroseed you're looking for, hopefully you can find one soon. I have a good feeling you will, and you know what they say - a Ranger's gut is usually on point."

I led Airik onward through the gardens. The flowers smelled wonderful today, as they always did. No wonder the caretakers of these flower gardens loved them so.

As if on cue, a horrible stench found its way into my nostrils. I immediately recoiled, and looked around for the Pokemon that I knew would be nearby. Only one Pokemon in the Botanic Gardens released this horribly a stench, and I spotted in walking out of a patch of nearby lavenders.

"It's a Gloom!" I called, pointing it out to Airik. "Do you want to try to capture this?"

John said this as he steered Airik through the Gardens. "Ferroseed is a interesting pokemon, the only grass and steel typing I am aware of it merits study."Airik said

Airik followed John through the gardens and it wasn't long before a foul stench reached his nose, he knew the distinctive sickly sweet smell of Gloom. Gloom was a grass type Airik wanted in fact he wanted two of them it had two different final stage evolutions Bellosom and Vileplume both of them he wanted to study side by side. "It's a Gloom!" John called, pointing it out to Airik. "Do you want to try to capture this?".

"No, not today. No doubt I will be back soon and will try to capture one of these if I'm lucky two but right now lets leave this one be" Airik said taking in the sights and sounds of the gardens. "I'm sure if I need to I can buy one of the dolls"

I nodded, and looked at the Gloom. From the looks of things, we hadn't attracted its attention. It waddled on by, and very quickly disappeared into another patch of flowers. It disappeared from view, and thankfully, its scent disappeared as well. We moved on, heading towards the last stretch of the flower gardens. Up ahead was a small path through a park with some trees, where we were bound to find some different types of Pokemon.

Before that, however, we were stopped by one last Pokemon at the edge of the gardens. A small pink blob with two green leaves sticking out of its head floated into our path, eyeing us with curiosity. This was Hoppip, a common but cute Grass-type.

"Want to try your hand at this one?" I asked Airik.

Airik watched as the Gloom walked off into some flowers and eventually it was gone, luckily so was it's smell. "I wonder if the smell is to ward off predators or attract prey." Airik said. Up ahead was what appeared to be a wooded park, more the sort of area Airik wanted if he was going to capture a Ferroseed. As Airik and John continued on up the path another pokemon crossed in front of them, It was a Hoppip the unevolved form of Jumpluff a pokemon Airik already had.

"Want to try your hand at this one?" John asked

"I've already got a Jumpluff" Airik said, "I would like to try just move on if we can however again I have money if I need to buy a doll to distract it"

it just floated there its two leaves jutting out from the side of it's head catching the thermal rises allowing it to stay aloft, Airik was itching to carry on tho and hopefully stumble across something rarer.

This hoppip looked rather stubborn, Airik grabbed $500 pokedollars from his wallet, "Just in case we can't escape from it"

"I've already got a Jumpluff," Airik said, "I would like to try just move on if we can. However, again I have money if I need to buy a doll to distract it."

I nodded at Airik, and I motioned for him to follow me as we tried to skirt around the Hoppip. The Pokemon refused to let us pass, however, floating into our way. From the look on its face, I figured it wasn't boding any sort of ill will towards us - maybe it was just dumb. Still, that would make it the perfect victim of the Pokedoll.

I nodded at Airik, and he handed me a wad of cash. In return, I laid down a Pokedoll on the ground for him. Immediately, the Hoppip swooped down for it, its attention fixated on the toy. We could move on safely now.

I led Airik on into the park. This area didn't have as many flowers, but a few daisies were visible here and there. Small trees enclosed the area, but it was still open and nothing like the cramped spacing of the Forest. I kept my eye out for our next encounter.

The moment I spotted it, I smiled. This was something I knew for sure Airik would like. The spiky, silver Pokemon eagerly hopped out to face us, clearly itching to battle.

"Looks like this is what you wanted: Ferroseed," I said to Airik. "Luckily for you, it seems itching to battle. There will be no chasing it around necessary here. I presume you're going to want to battle it as well?"

After handing over the money John grabbed one of his Pokedolls and laid it on the ground, the Hoppip swooped down for it and while it was distracted Airik and John went past it. They continued on into the park and the scenery changed almost immediately, the large flower beds where gone replaced with small groups of daisies and small trees around the edges forming a wooden boundary.

John smiled, and Airik knew why he saw it too. Laying in the grass was a small spiky silver pokemon it ever so quickly hoped out of the grass and over to us. It wanted a fight and so did Airik. "Looks like this is what you wanted: Ferroseed," John said to Airik. "Luckily for you, it seems itching to battle. There will be no chasing it around necessary here. I presume you're going to want to battle it as well?"

"Yes, I will I have been looking for one of these for some time" Airik said as he reached into his bag he grabbed his pokedex. The Pokedex was rectangular and red slim and easily sat in the palm of Airik's hand, as he thumbed the button on the side it flipped open and turned on. Straight away it scanned the pokemon in front of them, it's mechanical voice whirred "Ferroseed, The Thorn Seed pokemon. These Pokemon stick their spikes into cave walls and absorb nutrients from the rock. When threatened, it attacks by shooting a barrage of spikes which gives it a chance to escape by rolling away." the Pokedex stopped and Airik closed the lid and put it away.

"Right, well the problem with most steel type pokemon is they have a lot of resistances" Airik said. "However this particular pokemon is very weak to fire type attacks which would make the same Sunny Day weather combo I used earlier supper effective here." Airik mused on this for a second before coming to a decision

"Torterra Go" he grabbed a ball from his bag and the tortoise like pokemon appeared in a bright white flash it's form huge. The mind boggled at how such a vast creature would fit inside the tiny Pokeball. "I don't just want to constantly use Roserade so ground type attacks wont be resisted as well as Torterra here having rather strong defences should ward off the worst of this Ferroseed's attacks" Airik Explained.

"Ok Torterra Use an Earthquake let's shake things up" Airik said

    BP-1: Torterra VS Ferroseed

    Ranger John Shay

    OOC: Gender?

"Yes, I will. I have been looking for one of these for some time," Airik responded, taking out his PokeDex. After the machine was done reading Ferroseed's entry, Airik commented, "Right, well the problem with most Steel-type pokemon is they have a lot of resistances. However, this particular pokemon is very weak to Fire-type attacks which would make the same Sunny Day weather combo I used earlier super-effective here. Go, Torterra!"

Airik's Torterra roared as he exploded onto the path. He eyed his opponent, the small Ferroseed. I wondered what Airik's Sunny Day weather combo was. Torterra could certainly bring in the sun, but how would it capitalize on that sun? I waited to see what Airik's plan was.

"Okay, Torterra, use an Earthquake. Let's shake things up," Airik commanded.

Torterra nodded, and angrily stomped the ground. The earth rumbled, and Ferroseed fell over as seismic waves knocked him off balance. The Pokemon was wincing, clearly in pain. This was a solid start to the battle for Airik.

Ferroseed gave Torterra a resilient look. Like Cacnea, this Pokemon seemed to show some grit in battle. It began glowing silver with energy, and fired off a reflective and distorted beam of light at Torterra. This could only be the unique Mirror Shot attack. Torterra winced as the attack struck his flank, although it didn't seem to do too much damage given his bulk compared to Ferroseed's lackluster offensive ability.

However, Ferroseed wasn't done yet. It began spinning, firing off some of its spikes at Torterra. This was Pin Missile. What would Ferrothorn do here?

    ooc: Male please.

Torterra began stamping its feet on the floor and small seismic waves could be seen rippling forward cracking the ground in front of them until they collided full force against the small Thorn Seed pokemon, Torterra nodded in satisfaction it's opening attack had managed to do a decent amount of damage to the small silver pokemon before them. Then the Ferroseed retaliated a flash of light shot off from the metallic surface of Ferroseed's body and struck Torterra's flank, it hadn't appeared to do much more than irritate the much bigger Continent pokemon so named for it's vast size but then it followed up by shooting several of its thorns at Torterra the hard silver spikes embedded themselves into Torterra's side some bouncing off of its shell.

The Pin Missile attack seemed to grab Torterra's attention it began to prepare what looked like a charge straight at the Thorn Seed Pokemon. "Hold it, you did some damage with that Earthquake attack use it again" Airik shouted. "Then you can Charge at it and hit it with a Wood Hammer attack"

Torterra nodded understanding the need to inflict more damage before closing down the distance between him and his opponent, just like before Torterra's feet began a rhythmic pounding on the ground.
