Individual RP: Airik

"Thanks for the offer, but I've got some water of my own. However, let's keep going - I'm sure you want to find some new Pokemon." John said as Airik offered him the drink, Airik simply nodded and waited for John to lead on. It wasn't long before the Ranger had led Airik to a wonderful fountain shaped like a trio of Magikarp with water gushing from there mouths. Airik had noticed a distinct lack of human architecture since arriving in the gardens but this singular item actually managed to improve upon the natural beauty of the area.

The way fountain was a beautiful piece of art and enhanced the natural peace and quiet of the garden with the gentle trickle of water and it wasn't hideous to view either. They both stood for a moment admiring the fountain when a disgusting but not unfamiliar smell reached them. That smell was most assuredly that of a Gloom, Airik checked the limited notes they made of the last one they encountered and he couldn't quite tell if this was the same one or not. That would teach him to make more extensive notes next time, John approached the Gloom from the other side of the fountain

"Want to battle Gloom this time around?" John said

Airik looked at it and weighed up his options, and made his decision he reached into his jacket pocket and grabbed some notes "Not really, maybe if i had caught that one previously but I'm not to bothered in getting just one of these as I think you know." Airik said this making a show of the cash "If I need to buy a pokedoll to escape then im prepared to".

"Not really, maybe if I had caught that one previously but I'm not too bothered in getting just one of these as I think you know." Airik responded. He took out a wad of cash. "I need to buy a pokedoll to escape then I'm prepared to".

I nodded, and I led him away from the fountain. This Gloom seemed shy; I doubted it would follow us. My suspicion was correct. It watched us leave, but made no move to attack us.

"You won't be needing a Pokedoll, then," I said to Airik.

"Sunflora!"

The sunflower Pokemon eagerly stepped up to us.

"Want to battle this one, Airik?" I asked him.

"You won't be needing a Pokedoll, then," John Said

"Sunflora!" John shouted this as the sunflower pokemon stepped up towards him and Airik

"Want to battle this one, Airik?" John asked.

"Not really, this is one I want in the future at some point but am not really desperate for now. I would rather take my chances further on a Tangela or Tropius might be nice or a Foongus but we will see what is in store for me." Airik said as he reached back into his jacket and withdrew his money. "Same arrangement as before if we can avoid it without a doll it would be nice but if its unavoidable well I am willing to pay."

Airik looked at the Sunflora and he wanted it, he had to remind himself that he had a higher chance at capturing rarer pokemon than Sunflora in here than out in the wild and that if he wanted a Sunflora he would be better off starting with its unevolved form Sunkern and then he and Sunkern would be able to grow together as pokemon and trainer.

I nodded, and motioned for him to follow me as we skirted past the Sunflora. The Pokemon realized we had no intent to battle and seemed a little saddened, but walked away from us without causing a problem. Maybe it inspired a little bit of guilt in Airik, but things worked out fine for him anyways.

"Sunkern!"

Almost immediately, we were approached by the younger form of Sunflora, Sunkern. It was very likely these two had some sort of relationship - maybe they were siblings, or parent/child. However, if Airik hadn't wanted Sunflora, I doubted he would want Sunkern. I had to ask anyways, however.

"Want it?" I asked shortly.

"Sunkern!"

Airik and John had only been walking for a few moments before the ranger shouted out the name of the pokemon, it was Sunflora's unevolved form Sunkern.

"Want it?" John asked matter of factly despite probably already knowing the answer

"Not Really, lets see if we can lose it and if we cant then i will need to buy a doll" While saying this again Airik reached into his wallet and produced the appropriate amount of money. "Hopefully the pokemon after will be something more ing" or at least Airik hoped it would be interesting.

"Not really, let's see if we can lose it and if we can't, then I will need to buy a doll," Airik answered.

I nodded, and like with Sunflora, I tried edging around the Sunkern. However, this one was a lot more feisty than its elder. It mewed at us with a surprising ferocity, and I knew we'd need a doll. Airik already had a wad of bills out, but I tossed the Doll well away from us before claiming the money.

"Hopefully the Pokemon after will be something more interesting," Airik remarked as we trudged on.

We arrived at a park bench a few minutes later, and I suggested we take a break. We hadn't had a rest in a while, and I figured this was a good time for one.

However, one of the plants beside the bench began shaking wildly when we sat down. No, it wasn't a plant - it was a Maractus!

"Maractus!" the Pokemon cried.

"This is Maractus... Not a bad Pokemon," I commented. "It's certainly interesting, though I don't doubt there being better Pokemon along the road. However, it's your call. Want to go for this one?"

Airik walked on with John until they arrived at a bench, the duo arrived at a bench and John sat, obviously this was his way of suggesting they take a break for a short while. Airik joined the grader on the bench despite itching to get on, he had been in the park for sometime and despite seeing a wonderful variety of pokemon he hadn't seen anything else he had wanted to capture.

Just as his thoughts where running through his mind a bush next to them began to shake and move it took a second for Airik to realise what was happening, it was a Maractus not a bush

"It is a rarer grass type, however although I don't have one of my own I do have a colleague with one and I have had ample opportunity to observe his, so I think on this occasion I will pass" Airik again began reaching for his wallet. "Again if I need to buy a doll I will but this guy seems friendly if not a bit excitable"

"Again, if I need to buy a doll I will, but this guy seems friendly if not a bit excitable."

I nodded, and I looked at the Maractus again. It was true this Pokemon seemed friendly.

"Sorry little guy, but my friend here isn't really looking for a battle," I said softly to the Maractus. The Maractus wasn't upset by this at all, nodding and smiling at us.

"Well, it doesn't look like there's going to be a problem," I said to Airik as the Maractus hopped away into the bushes. "Let's keep going."

A few minutes from our encounter with the Maractus, we happened a Pansage. The small green monkey was picking berries off of some of the berries off to the side of the road. It hadn't noticed us yet.

I turned to Airik, and quietly pointed to the Pokemon to ask him if he wanted it or not. If he didn't want it (which I suspected would be the case), then trying to sneak past it would be much easier if we avoided alerting it.

The Maractus as Airik suspected was friendly enough and simply hopped off into the bushes dancing to a tune only it could hear.

"Let's keep going." John said and Airik simply nodded, following his ranger guide Airik continued along the road some moments later John made a motion to crouch down and come in close as Airik did John pointed out a small green figure eating berries off of a bush. It was a Pansage. The Duo sat for what felt like hours but in reality was only a few moments observing the monkey like grass pokemon foraging for its dinner. John quietly asked Airik if he wanted to capture this pokemon and although thrilled to see it in the wild like this Airik simply shook his head.

Airik motioned for the two of them to leave and whispered that if he needed to buy a doll that he was fine with that, but so far they had remained unobserved and so should be able to get away with ease in theory at least.

Airik motioned for us to keep going, and whispered something about paying for a doll if necessary.

Oh, the irony. Pansage's ears perked up as it heard Airik's voice, and it turned to face us. It seemed very disturbed by our presence, and screeched at us loudly.

"Well, looks like you're going to need a doll," I muttered, tossing one away from us. Pansage immediately jumped after it, screeching loudly and flailing his limbs maniacally. "What a weird Pokemon, let's book it."

We kept going. Very quickly, we reached another fountain. I looked around, checking for any Pokemon.

"Oh, there's one!" I cried, pointing towards what I saw. The Turtwig slowly walked over to us, inspecting us closely. It seemed more curious than wary, however. Already having a Torterra, I doubted Airik would want this. Still, I asked anyways. "Any interest?"

"Well, looks like you're going to need a doll," John Muttered. The Pansage started going mad flailing all its limbs as it chased after the doll "What a weird Pokemon, let's book it." John said as we carried on our journey through the park.

"Oh, there's one!" John cried, it was a Turtwig the basic form of Torterra. Amazing to see it out here like this Airik thought, he also had an idea about getting Torterra out and letting it play with this Turtwig but time was pressing on and there where more pokemon to be discovered in the park.

"Any interest?" John asked, "Not Really" Airik replied "Only mildly curious about how it and my Torterra would get on, and not enough to do anything about it. As before if i need a doll I will buy one" Airik reached into his wallet drawing out another 500 worth in bills

I nodded, and I told Airik to follow me as we walked away from the Turtwig. It seemed indifferent to us leaving, and returned its attention to the fountain. We moved on, following a path until we were back at the flower gardens.

"Well, we've walked a full circle around the park area, and now we'll just be going back through the flower gardens," I said. I noticed two bright red flowers moving through a group of pale white lilies. This was very odd, and we walked over to inspect. The red flowers hopped out of the lilies, and the Bellossom that wore the red flowers landed gracefully in front of us.

"Bellossom!" it cried happily, excited by our appearance.

"Do you want this one?" I asked Airik. I highly doubted it, however, after skipping two Glooms earlier.

As Airik and John left the Turtwig it seemed to not care about them leaving, thankful he didn't have to pay for another Pokedoll Airik carried on following behind John. His first trip to the park had been fairly good Cacnea although not on his list of wants was a good solid grass and dark type and Ferroseed was one of the pokemon he came in here searching for so it had been a good trip.

"Well, we've walked a full circle around the park area, and now we'll just be going back through the flower gardens," John said but his attention began to drift

Airik followed his gaze to some red petals that began to rustle and then suddenly hopping forth out of the bushes a Bellossom landed gracefully in front of the duo

"Bellossom!" it Cried

"Do you want this one?" John asked, "Not really for the same reason I passed on the Gloom Earlier, I would like to get two Oddish and study them side by side until they reach there final evolutions so just capturing a Bellossom on it's own is of no interest to me at this point." Airik stood awestruck by Bellossom, "It is a Magnificent looking pokemon, if i have to buy a doll for our escape I will."

"Not really for the same reason I passed on the Gloom earlier: I would like to get two Oddish and study them side by side until they reach their final evolutions so just capturing a Bellossom on its own is of no interest to me at this point. It is a magnificent looking Pokemon," Airik conceded. "If I have to buy a doll for our escape, I will."

I nodded, but this Bellossom didn't look like it was interested in causing a problem for us. It overheard our conversation, and instead of making things difficult for us, it simply bade us a cheery goodbye, and returned to walking through the flowers.

"Well, that was convenient," I muttered. "Let's keep going."

The next Pokemon was much more obvious. It was wading its way through a bunch of bright red roses, and the blue mess of vines were easily visible.

"It's a Tangela!" I exclaimed, recalling that Airik had said he wanted one earlier. This was a stroke of luck for him. "If I remember correctly, you wanted one of these?"

"Well, that was convenient," John said as the Bellossom just waved us goodbye. "Let's keep going." Airik followed John back through the familiar flower gardens heading towards the park entrance or exit depending on your perspective. It wasn't long before we stumbled across another pokemon it was wading it's way through a mass of bright red roses its blue vine like body clearly standing out.

"It's a Tangela!" John said, however Airik was well aware what it was he was after one of these. "If I remember correctly, you wanted one of these?" John looked at Airik

"Yes I am after one of these, now I need to capture it." Airik realised that there was one pokemon he brought along today that he hadn't used yet and that also it would be perfect for the job. Looking over his shoulder to the silent still form of Shiftry Airik simply nodded the Wicked Pokemon somersaulted over Airik's head landing in a position directly in front of the Tangela. "As you can see John we're battling this one" Airik said

Shiftry began to wave its huge fan like arms around in a menacing fashion to try and put off the Tangela, Airik shouted across to his companion "Shiftry, use Fake out follow that up with a Faint Attack" Airik Smiled this had turned into a rather good park trip

 

BP-1: Shiftry VS Tangela

OOC: Just a heads-up, I have my school finals and provincial exams this week and the first few days of next week. I can probably still post at a good rate but if not, well, then you know why. Also, Tangela's gender?

"Yes, I am after one of these, now I need to capture it." Airik responded. He nodded towards his Shiftry behind him, and the Pokemon leaped over to meet the Tangela. I had yet to see this Pokemon battle - this should be very interesting. "As you can see, John. we're battling this one. Shiftry, use Fake Out, then follow that up with a Faint Attack!"

Shiftry nodded. He immediately leaped off his feet, and reappeared beside Tangela a few moments later. Fake Out required incredible speed, and was a surprise based move that would flinch the opponent. Shiftry hit Tangela with a light pound, and Tangela's eyes went wide in surprise as it struggled to comprehend what was going on. Shiftry cackled, and went with another surprise move: Faint Attack. He imitated punching Tangela's face, but halted his fist just before impact and instead punched Tangela in the back with his other fist. Tangela was knocked away, tumbling a few steps off the path.

"Tangela..." the Pokemon moaned, slowly returning to its feet. While Fake Out and Faint Attack were moves that used surprise to their advantage very effectively, they weren't the most powerful moves. It was a good start to the battle for Airik, but it wasn't surprising to see Tangela only a little hurt from the combination. Still, its nerves were certainly rattled, which would be something Airik could use to his advantage, especially when using a Pokemon like Shiftry.

Though all that was visible of Tangela's face were its eyes, it put on a clearly frustrated expression. The exasperation was obvious in its eyes - Tangela was clearly upset with the way it had been made a fool of in the beginning of this battle. It reached out with a long vine, and aggressively stabbed the Shiftry's chest - this attack was Frustration.

"Shiftry!" the Pokemon cried, falling to one knee. The attack had been very obvious and aggressive - a very different way to kick off the battle compared to Shiftry's lead-off moves. However, it showed what I had suspected: Shiftry had established the psychological upper-hand. However, this Tangela had turned out to be very aggressive. I wondered how Airik would handle this particular Pokemon.

Airik had been with Shiftry for a long time now and he knew exactly what the Wicked pokemon was thinking. It was thinking, How dare you strike me. Airik was going to use that to goad his partner in to fighting harder and striking fast. "Shiftry, don't just stand there and take that from this Tangela. Fight back" Airik had struck a nerve the Wicked pokemon's eyes burned like little black coals, he knew if he could keep Shiftry angry and kept the pace fast the slower Tangela might not be able to keep up with Shiftry.

"Ok Shiftry, Tornado Time" Airik said barely audible, he didn't need to shout it out loud he knew Shiftry would know what he had intended to do next the two worked well together like a well oiled machine, that and Shiftry had a limited psychic power but he seemed to just be able to Read Airik as easy as Airik could read a book.

Tornado Time referenced two moves used in tandem, Shiftry began to almost pirouette on the spot spinning so fast that it was difficult for the human eye to keep track of certainly Tangela would be having difficulty spotting the Wicked pokemon as it continued to build up momentum. Soon winds began to pick up around Shiftry lifting leaves and other detritus up from his feet it wasn't long before Shiftry was enveloped in a ever growing twisting tornado. As the winds whipped into a crescendo an unnerving sound of cackling could be heard from with in the tornado's core that ended suddenly with a mighty crack as loud as thunder, this was Shiftry Clapping his huge leaf like hands together. As he did so the Tornado split in two, the two tornadoes began to to circle each other while heading toward Tangela. Tornado Time involved Shiftry creating one huge swirling vortex before splitting it into a Whirlwind Attack and a Leaf Tornado both of which where now heading straight toward the already frustrated Tangela

Airk's face twisted into an evil grin that matched Shiftry's as he delighted in the magnificent scene Shiftry had created before them.

 

BP-2: Shiftry VS Tangela

"Shiftry, don't just stand there and take that from this Tangela. Fight back!" Airik called, trying to fire up his Shiftry. "Okay Shiftry, tornado time!"

I lifted an eyebrow, very curious. He hadn't ordered an attack directly, so I didn't know what his next move was going to be. Shiftry began forming a large tornado, whipping his fan arms into the air. Leaves were intermixed into the wind, and Shiftry cackled in the center of it all - a very ominous sight.

I heard a loud clap, and Shiftry split apart the tornado into two seperate tornadoes that were identifiable: one was Whirlwind, and the other was Leaf Tornado. The two gusts of wind flew towards Tangela. Whirlwind was being used as an offensive move, akin to the Dragon-type Twister, while Leaf Tornado was also a very effective Grass-type tornado attack. The two attacks slammed into the Tangela.

"Tangela!" he cried. However, when the tornadoes had blasted by, I noticed Tangela had somehow managed to stand his ground. Against two tornado-based attacks, that was very weird. Then, I saw that some of the vines that were a part of Tangela's body had dug themselves into the ground. Tangela had probably used those vines to help him weather the attack, I realized.

All of a sudden, the ground beneath Shiftry erupted. Two vines reached up and slapped Shiftry right in the face. These were the same two vines that Tangela had dug into the ground with!

"Shiftry!" he cried.

Tangela wasn't done yet, however. His vines immediately wrapped around Shiftry, and squeezed tight. This was Bind. It wasn't a particularly powerful attack, but it put the target in a tough spot and damaged it over time. I looked over to Airik, wondering what he would do.

Airik Pondered for a second looking at the scene before him, Tangela had let loose two of its powerful vines and wrapped them around Shiftry. Airik knew this was a Bind attack not powerful but it kept stacking up the damage and so could eventually cause a lot of pain. Shiftry was in pain but Airik wanted to keep up the annoyance strategy, "Shiftry use Swagger" Airik was hoping that Shiftry could confuse the Tangela and cause it to hurt itself instead of Shiftry.

Airik thought for a second and then came up with a plan "Shiftry, try an Extrasensory. Get inside it's head" Airik was hoping that confusing it and then messing with its mind might cause the Tangela to hurt itself.

Airik was thinking and would probably be switching out in a turn or two and swap to Roserade for the type advantage

 

BP-3: Shiftry VS Tangela

"Shiftry, use Swagger," Airik commanded, before adding, "Try an Extrasensory. Get inside its head."

Shiftry locked eyes with Tangela, and let loose a boastful cry. Swagger was a move that took advantage of the target's emotions to confuse it, although it was very risky since it boosted their Attack and also aggravated them, making them more aggressive.

Shiftry held his gaze with Tangela, but his eyes turned blue as he moved on to Extrasensory. Extrasensory was a Psychic-type move that heightened the target's senses to an overwhelming point. Tangela fell to a knee, confused and overcome by the Swagger and Extrasensory combination.

"Tangela," he muttered, breathing heavily. Green energy formed on Shiftry's body, and traveled along the vines to Shiftry. However, this wasn't Shiftry's attack - it was Tangela's Giga Drain! He was using Giga Drain to leech some health from Shiftry, trying to settle things down a little bit. It wasn't very effective, since Shiftry resisted Grass-type moves being a Grass-type himself. However, it would certainly help calm down Tangela.

Tangela moved on to an attack that was probably going to be a little more powerful. A large vine lashed out from Tangela's body, rushing towards Shiftry. It aggressively slammed into the Pokemon's side, and Airik's Pokemon immediately crumpled from the brute force of the attack. This was no ordinary Vine Whip - it was the much more powerful variant, Power Whip, and it was also being powered up by the Attack boost from Swagger.

Shiftry was in a very difficult situation here. He was still trapped in Tangela's Bind, and now Tangela was beginning to get aggressive. However, the Pokemon was in a confused state. That would probably come into play very soon. I wonder what Airik's next move would be here.
