Lanturn missed with her Spark to Mantine, yet again. With her not doing much damage this time was out of her trainer's concern at the moment since she was about to get pulled back to earth through gravity. If she didn't act soon, she would fall right back to the cold waters. Even though the water might cushion, it would still hurt.

"Lanturn, try to use Bubblebeam around you to make your fall less painful. Charge Beam at Mantine, next."

Upon facing her fall, large clusters of bubbles appear from her mouth and then surrounded her. In the middle of her show, the bubbles gave off a flash, partly because of the electricity charged as she used Charge Beam and the bubbles reflecting the light. This partially blinded Mantine.

"Now!"

As Lanturn landed safely to the waters, she shot the charged Charge Beam towards the stunned Mantine. This was the natural way of hunting for wild Lanturn, after all. They would first use blinding light to stun their target before they give the finishing blow.

As Lanturn defeated the wild Mantine, the Kite Pokemon fled right away. Type Advantage clearly did help when one should fight groups of Pokemon. As he left, two of Santa's Hats fell from the Mantine and slowly landed to the ground. Apparently, Pokemon carrying Christmas items are occupying the whole Park.

Cenon collected the Santa's Hats and continued walking along the shoreline of the lake. With Lanturn ready to act if any Pokemon attacked him, he concentrated more on navigating alone through the National Park. Most of the time, trainers should be accompanied by rangers. "Now I know why they do," Cenon muttered as he tried to work out a possible way to Meteor Valley through his map.

Out of nowhere, a mad looking Feraligatr came from the bushes. This caught both Cenon and his Lanturn by surprise. What are the odds of running straight to a fully evolved Pokemon after another. This one looks different, though, because it suddenly grew aggressive even with Cenon not doing anything to provoke it.

Suddenly, the Feraligatr began thrashing about. Luckily, it was Lanturn that was hit or else, the commander would've been knocked out.

"What was that?!" Cenon asked himself as he tried to steady himself. Dusting off the dirt from his clothes, he noticed that the Feraligatr was already engaging in a fight against Lanturn. Now was the time that Lanturn needed to get serious. "Use Discharge, and follow it up with Toxic!" he ordered.

The dolphin-like Pokemon nodded and discharged blue electricity from one of the yellow orbs at his head. From Lanturn, sparks traveled towards the air, and most significantly, through the water. Since Feraligatr itself is submerged in the water, the attack had to definitely hit it.

A purple orb appeared at Lanturn's mouth afterwards. As the Electric-type Pokemon shot it towards Feraligatr, the Toxic attack scattered to the wild Pokemon's body. Highly contaminated poison would soon scatter through the Feraligatr's body and slowly weaken it, if ever it takes effect.

As the Toxic attack hit Feraligatr, it was already sure that only in a matter of time will the wild Pokemon get weak and, like most of the other wild Pokemon Cenon met, run away and leave another item relating to this season's event, Christmas. Though there can be other possibilities of what could happen, Lanturn should be the one to remain victorious in this match. Feraligatr got advantage over size and strength, but Lanturn can obviously outwit it and use effective moves against it.

Feraligatr's body could not appear weak as of now, but sooner or later, it has to fall against the effects of Toxic. Even so, the large alligator Pokemon continued rampaging due to the effects of Outrage. Currently, it would not have any control to its body and soon, it would get confused of its surroundings, as well as who its target is. Right now, Lanturn has the advantage against the wild Feraligatr.

"Try to stall him as long as you could," Cenon said to his Pokemon as he thought of a combo. "Cover yourself with Aqua Ring, then proceed to making a thicker layer of it using your Ice Beam."

Lanturn, then, proceeded with her trainer's order. With what control of water she has, droplets from the ice cold lake levitated and slowly formed multiple rings around her. As more of those rings formed, they immediately combine into a spherical ball of water, mimicking a fish bowl. Almost the second later, the cold lake waters around Lanturn began being covered by ice. Crusts of ice formed until the whole Aqua Ring is frozen.

"Let's see if Feraligatr can pass through this!"

"This doesn't look good," the trainer commented as he saw his Lanturn getting overpowered by a larger and, possibly, stronger Pokemon. Feraligatr's great strength combined with its bulk doesn't sound good for a trainer who still tries to understand his Pokemon's capability. Since Lanturn isn't used at battling mostly, including the fact she needs water to move freely, Cenon doesn't give this Pokemon of his much battle experience it needs.

A sudden movement of the ground in the middle of Feraligatr's Outrage made Lanturn's condition more unfavorable. Her iced shield was damaged by it and with the Big Jaw Pokemon still barraging its arms to Lanturn's shield, there was no doubt it would succeed in destroying it. With its last bash, Lanturn's shield was no more and her body exposed to the effects of Earthquake.

Fortunately, the Aqua Ring still hasn't left Lanturn yet. Though this may not continue to protect her, at least there was something to heal the damage done to her.

"Don't worry about losing, Lanturn. Only a few more moments before Toxic completely affects his body," Cenon told his Pokemon. Although he said such reassuring words to Lanturn, he knew that Feraligatr can still deal injuries to his Pokemon during those moments. "Use Bubblebeam and try to keep a distance between the two of you. Meanwhile, use Stockpile to increase defense!"

Although Feraligatr is beginning to act confused, it is still a dangerous beast. As her trainer said, Lantern swam farther away from Feraligatr and sprayed a foam of bubbles. The bubbles occupied the space in between them before they reach Feraligatr. As those bubbles reach land, where the alligator is, they started to explode, knocking back Lanturn's foe. As the bubbles did their thing, Lanturn glowed white as she charged for Stockpile

Feraligatr wailed for the last time and scurried away from the scene. Apparently, the poison Toxic has left in his body was now taking its effect and would slowly weaken the beast. Though Toxic was still active, it didn't stopped the Feraligatr from stamping through the foliage that block its path. Small tremors still broke, telling how the Feraligatr must've felt from suffering under Lanturn.

Those small tremors the wild Pokemon made shook some nearby tree, making a Snow Star Crystal fall. Luckily, it fell to a soft mound of sand and thus preventing it to be damaged. "I guess I should pick this up, too," Cenon said as he went over the fallen object and placed it inside the first thing he got for the day, Santa's Present Bag. Since he haven't brought any bags for this day, he was obtain the present bag.

"Oh, right!" the trainer said as he came back to his Lanturn. "Try to rest for a while while I check the map again." Leaving Lanturn again to recover her health, Cenon got a map from his pocket and continued to guess any possible routes towards his next location.

"Eureka!" Cenon shouted as he figured a way to the next place in their route, the Meteor Valley. Though it took him a while before he figured out their position on the map, at least they can finally move on. "Come on, Lanturn," he told his Pokemon, "Let's go!"

"Lanturn, what's taking you so-"

Cenon's words were interrupted by a magnificent sight as he glanced at the view behind his back. The legendary Suicune was standing right in front of his eyes. Sightings of legendary Pokemon inside the National Park are rare, but he never would've thought he'd encounter one right in this special day. With its charming grace, how could Cenon even attack it? But since it didn't appear hostile, maybe some nice words may prevent a battle.

Approaching Lanturn slowly, and not trying to provoke the Legendary Pokemon, Cenon whispered a command to his said Pokemon. "Here's the plan: Try to prepare a shield first by using a Substitute, and follow it up with a quick recovery by using Swallow. We don't want to get aggressive against that type of Pokemon, so let's get on the defensive side first." With the orders given out, Cenon gave a pat to Lanturn and watched the show.

Though battered and tired, Lanturn somehow got active again. At least, the commands given to her this time wasn't all about hurting and battling. If she had to admit, she somewhat liked her trainer's first move.

First, Lanturn decided to make a Substitute, as she was told to. By sacrificing a part of her health, she made a copy of herself, although with duller colors and such. With the small sacrifice she had made, at least she would be protected against attacks from the Suicune in case the Aurora Pokemon would attack them afterwards.

With Suicune's attention centered at her Substitute, she continued with the Phase Two of this round of commands. Swimming deeper to the lake, she concentrated on diverting the energy she got from Stockpile into healing herself. She glowed white for a moment, and then it was done. Swallow is a nice recovery move since it recycles the excess energy Lanturn has. Hopefully, the recovery done would be enough to compensate for the health Substitute had stripped off.

"Are you sure we really need to fight you?" Cenon told Suicune in hopes of it answering a 'no'.

 

As Lanturn used Swallow while underwater, Suicune breathed a whitish-blue beam, covering the parts of the lake that wasn't frozen. Eventually, using Ice Beam, Suicune was able to trap Lanturn underwater by freezing the lake heavily by using Ice Beam on the lake. Eventually, Suicune opened its mouth and released a gust of wind with lots of snow that blanketed the frozen lake with snow--it would make Lanturn difficult to escape.

IC: As Lanturn prepared for a direct attack, what Suicune did was nothing near what she and her trainer thought. After releasing an Ice Beam, which froze the whole lake once again, the Aurora Pokemon even decided to cover it with a blanket of snow. This act led Lanturn's trainer to think whether or not Suicune really wanted to fight or just trap Lanturn to prevent one.

"Lanturn, can you still hear me there?" Cenon asked his apparently trapped Pokemon. "If you do, please reply."

As Lanturn did reply with a high-pitched sound from underneath the ice, an idea hit Cenon. If I can still hear her voice, then that means that the ice isn't as thick as I thought it would be, he thought. "Well then, let's see if what Suicune will do if we really want to fight. Lanturn, use Supersonic and follow it up with a Surf!" If sound waves can break through glass, maybe they could break through ice!

Though the command wasn't clear for Lanturn, at least she understood what her trainer said. She inhaled, to relax her vocal chords, and began releasing her Supersonic attack. Sound waves from her mouth was directed straight to the ice. Although they were noise to the ears for most, due to the incredibly high-pitch sound it makes, the thick layer of snow cushioned Cenon's ears to hear the loud sound. Then, as Cenon assumed, cracks on the ice were appearing until all of them was shattered by Supersonic. Whether or not it would affect Suicune was not in Cenon's thoughts. All he cared about now is to see the Legendary Pokemon fall.

Knowing that Surf would be the next one to be launched, Cenon quickly ran and hid behind a thick trunked tree. He didn't care for any more details, as long as it looks thick enough to protect the boy. With the two fighting with their full force, it's always good to take precautionary measures. "Show that Suicune who's the boss, Lanturn!" he cheered. This was the least he could do, besides aiding his Pokemon through commanding it with effective attacks.

With what little time Lanturn has left before Suicune could act against her attack, she continued on Phase Two. Since she was already underwater, summoning a tidal wave won't be hard. Gathering her control over the water, she soon rose above sea level with a tidal wave beneath her. And due to unsuspected turn of events, blades of ice, too, joined in her attack. A large tidal wave should probably deal a lot of damage to a regular Pokemon, but since it was Suicune who'd be dealing with it, Lanturn knew that her enemy would withstand the attack. Without further ado, she crashed her Surf into the Legendary Pokemon and scattered the broken shards of ice into the area.

"That's it, girl!" Cenon cheered from behind a tree, just in case any attacks go out of hand again, like Lanturn's previous Surf.

 

Lanturn, using its vocal cords somehow, released a large wave of sound that rebounded against the ice, breaking Lanturn's sub along the process--it turned into ice a bit for being exposed into the cold for a few minutes. But the Supersonic had managed to break the ice, some of them reached Suicune and managed to damage it. Then Lanturn and Suicine began to execute their attacks.

Stuff happened as Suicune and Lanturn executed their attack. The great power that Lanturn accumulated was just wasted on an instance with Suicune's Protect. Surely, the shield that Suicune made was stronger that the attack Lanturn just have unleashed. To top that all, Suicune also used Aqua Ring to heal off any damage done to itself. If ever its going to be worse, the battle might just get any longer than its supposed to be.

"Now's the right time to inflict pain to that Suicune, Lanturn," Cenon told his Pokemon. "Since Protect wouldn't probably work consecutively, why don't we use Toxic?"

Lanturn, doing what she was told, spat a purple orb of pure poison. If ever there was something that would make a Pokemon sick, Toxic would be one of the possible answers. The Toxic attack flew right in the direction of Suicune, as if Lanturn had the best accuracy she could ever have. Even one touch of it would make a Pokemon sick, so the only problem they're going to face at the moment was Suicune being hit by it.

"Just to make sure, pierce through that Toxic with Charge Beam!"

Being Charge Beam a relatively weak move, it was one of the moves Cenon let his Lanturn use most of the time. Coupled with the chance to raise one's Special Attack stat, what's not to like? Lanturn began to charge electricity on the orb above his head, once more. Sparks danced around it at first, before Lanturn pulled out the move. A charged beam of electricity flew straight from Lanturn and pierced through the Toxic attack, just as Cenon said.

The Charge Beam, however, made the Toxic attack explode before the Charge Beam managed to hit the Aurora Pokemon. At the explosion, the Toxic was divided into millions of parts and flew straight to Suicune. The explosion can be compared to a missile that divides into more parts in order to have more chances of hitting the target.

"Without Protect, let's see how he evades this."

This time, Suicune did a different approach at evading Lanturn's attack. By quickly moving onto the the ground and using Dig, Lanturn's attack almost did nothing again. Luckily, some of her Toxic had reached the Aurora Pokemon before it retreated under the ground. This way, if Suicune continued on stalling Lanturn's attacks, the poison in his body would just worsen by every minute, just like what the Light Pokemon did to the viscous Feraligatr she battled earlier.

"All it seem to do is evade our attacks!" Cenon ranted angrily. "Okay, make a quick Charge-and-Discharge combo. Remember to wait for him to surface before unleashing it. You can do it, Lanturn!"

Lanturn's lamps glowed brightly as she concentrated on charging electricity. The orbs charged and charged as Lanturn waited for an opportunity to unleash her attack. As long as Suicune hasn't surfaced yet, the next electric attack Lanturn will unleash, which would be Discharge, will increase its power to the extent Lanturn's opponent would feel double the pain.

As soon as the ground shook, Lanturn readied to unleash her Discharge attack. If ever Suicune would jump out of its Dig attack, Lanturn's charged Discharge attack would meet the Legendary Pokemon and, hopefully, hurt the Aurora Pokemon without it evading again.
