OOC: No thanks, and I'm not too well so apologies for the crappy post.

Dual finally made a choice. The purple on his arms dimmed and his head flashed bright blue. A branch snapped off one of the trees, hitting the Toxicroak in the head. It made a distressed croaking sound, and ran away.

I returned Dual to his Poke Ball. He needed a rest after that fight. I then brought Kai back out - he'd been resting long enough. He greeted me with a rumble - he was ready to fight again.

As we moved passed, I noticed two candy canes on a low-lying tree branch. I grabbed them and shoved them in my pack - they'd be a good snack for later.

We left the trees and I found myself walking alongside another lake. It wasn't snowing as badly, and there was no ice on this lake. I stuck the tip of my glove in and licked it. My suspicions were confirmed - this was a saltwater lake. That explained why there was no ice - saltwater didn't freeze as easily as freshwater.

As Kai and I walked along the edge of the lake, keeping an eye out for other life forms, I noticed there was an island out on the lake, partly surrounded by fog. Very few lakes had islands in the middle of them, but some did, so I must have stumbled across one of them. I paid it no mind.

Until twenty minutes later. I noticed that the island hadn't moved. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem, except we were moving, so we should have traveled away from it. I used my Aura Reader to zoom in on it. I couldn't see any trees or rocks - it was almost like the island was just barren dirt. Suddenly, a geyser of water erupted off the top of the island and I realized what it was - a Wailord.

"Ohh, this one is gunna suck," I muttered to myself.

Kai looked at me and raised an eyebrow, silently asking me if I said anything.

"There's a Wailord out there," I said quietly to Kai, without making any obvious movements. "It hasn't attacked us yet, so it might be peaceful. Put up a Light Screen inbetween us, and if it attacks us return fire with a Thunder."

I hoped that the Wailord would leave us alone, but somehow I knew it wouldn't. Something strange was going on, and I was willing to be the Wailord wasn't immune simply because of its sheer size. The only good thing to come of this scenario is that because the Water type was so blasted big, there was very little chance of Kai's Thunder missing.

I was right. The Wailord didn't leave us alone. As soon as Kai put up the Light Screen, it began moving closer. Shit was about to go down. I decided the best thing to do was fight here, where the surroundings were nice and simple and there was very little chance of us being in trouble.

"Kai, get ready to fight," I said to him as I backed away from him. He nodded and grunted, entering his battle stance.

I thought the Wailmer would prepare a long-range attack, but I soon realised that was a stupid assumption. It didn't show any signs of slowing down.

"Kai, fire off that Thunder now!" I yelled, and he fired a huge blast of yellow electricity at the incoming whale. As big as the blast was, it couldn't have been more than a nasty sting to the Wailord. It moved as close to the shore as it possibly could, and then stopped abruptly. The result was a huge wave that roared over Kai. Luckily, his Light Screen caught the worst of the blow, but the wave was so powerful it got me wet, even a good twenty metres from the edge of the water.

"Quick, Kai, while it's close nail it with a Thunderpunch, then use Quick Attack to get back onto land!" I called out. Kai's two fists became covered with blue sparks, and he began wading powerfully out towards the partially land-locked Wailord. As I watched the Light Screen dutifully follow him, I hoped this wasn't a bad choice.

    OOC: lol wtf

Kai reached the Wailord, and rammed both of his fists into its thick blue hide. I heard a deep moan that sounded like a foghorn, and I realised it was the Wailord. Kai began moving back towards land as fast as he could. Before he could fully make it, though, I saw something amazing. The Wailord sunk underwater for a couple seconds, then launched out of it! It was like the ocean had thrown an island at Kai.

"Wow, there's no way he'll survive that," I muttered to myself, quickly grabbing Kai's Poke Ball off my belt and pointing it at him. My plan was to bring Kai back to safety and use the only Pokemon that had no yet made an appearance - my Dusknoir, Specialle. She could phase into the ground or something and wait until the attack passed, and then use Shadow Sneak to get nice and close and do some damage. I wasn't sure how hurt the Wailord was, but after taking a Thunder and a Thunderpunch I was willing to bet it was pretty pissed off, and it wouldn't take much more to encourage it to leave. I just hoped that I could make the switch before Kai got flattened.

I was lucky. The tracking mechanism in Kai's Poke Ball managed to get a lock on him. A red beam shot out like a glowing spear in the mist, and it struck Kai. He turned red, and returned to the Poke Ball. At the same time, the ball in my other hand opened up, and a subsequent flash of white light revealed Specialle.

"How you going, girl?" I asked her.

She crooned happily in response, then turned to look at our opponent. She stared at the flying Wailord, dumbfounded, before turning back to me with an accusing look.

"Hey, it's not my fault," I protested, "I don't ask for this shit. Just finish it quickly with Shadow Sneak."

She rolled her eyes and sunk into the ground. As soon as she did so, the Wailord crashed into the ground. The resulting tremor knocked me off my feet. As the huge whale began shuffling back into the lake, Specialle rose from its shadow and smacked it behind where the ear would be with one of her hands. It moaned, and when it got back into the water it swam away.

"Wow, thank God that is over," I said, and I felt a shiver, like God was close to me or one of my friends. I waved to Specialle and we moved on along the Lake. As we did so, I picked up another packed of Milk and Cookies - it was automatic by now.

I decided to return Specialle and bring Dual back out. After all, I might need her later on to assist in some rescue efforts, and she should be fully rested in case of any scenario. Dual reappeared in a flash of white light that was almost indistinguishable against the backdrop on the snowstorm. He swung his arms around a little bit warming himself up.

"How you feeling buddy?" I asked him. "Want to go back into the Ball?"

<I'm fine,> Dual replied, <besides if I'm not out here watching you God knows what trouble you'll get into.>

    "Fair enough." I grinned.

<I could do with a Gardevoir to keep me warm, though,> he muttered just loud enough for me to hear.

"What, the Muk I just captured doesn't hold any appeal for you?" I laughed.

Dual shot me a look sharper than his blades, and blocked off his mind from our telepathic link. I continued to grin - I often made fun of him for the fact that he couldn't breed with very many human-shaped Pokemon. He was used to it by now, but it didn't make him any less angry.

We continued along the edge of the lake, but after twenty minutes I was just about convinced there was no one here. I was just about to move onto the next lake when I heard an epic roar. It spoke of fury, revenge, and punishment to be administered. My head shot up, and I saw yet another island-sized Pokemon (albeit a bit smaller than the Wailord) heading my way, floating on the surface of the water. It roared again, and as it did so red lines started glowing along its face and fins.

My jaw dropped. "You have to be kidding," I muttered underneath my breath. It was a Kyogre, and it was pissed off. Knowing my luck, it was the same Kyogre that Dual had held off on a Park Run earlier this year, and apparently it was here for revenge.

<See?> Dual asked scathingly, <Look what's happened. If I was inside my Poke Ball right now you might be stupid enough to consider using Flash or Kai.>

"I'm assuming that's your way of saying you want to deal with this?"

Dual's silence was enough to answer my question. I sighed, and pulled out something I'd prepared ever since his Kyogre fight. It functioned much like a holster, strapping to Dual's leg, except instead of being used to hold a gun, it could hold a healing potion. I designed it for Dual to use just in case he was too far into battle to return for healing. I passed him the holster with a Super Potion inside it, and he strapped it to his left leg.

"Just for insurance," I said, "this is a Legendary after all, and everyone is tired and not at his best."

Dual nodded, and then stepped in front of me, ready to battle. The Kyogre roared. It had seen Dual, and it wasn't getting any less rageful. I had better start the battle ASAP.

"Dual, start off with a Swords Dance. Once you're done intimidating that big beast out there, Teleport up onto it's back and give it a nice solid Leaf Blade to think about!" I called.

Dual formed four glowing blue swords made out of psychic energy, and began waving them around while moving provocatively. I knew it wasn't just to intimidate the opponent, though - the dance was carefully designed to stretch Dual's muscles so that he's get maximum damage output. I considered using Bulk Up, a technique of Dual's that raised his defence as well, but the Attack rise wasn't as good, and Kyogre was known for its ranged attacks, not its physical ones.

Gallade finished the dance, and the four swords exploded like fireworks. He yelled a feral battle-cry and disappeared in a flash of blue light. I wasn't worried about sending him over open water - not only could he teleport, he had access to Shadow Sneak, and he could use Psychic to manipulate small grains of matter to effectively walk on water. The question wasn't would he be alright, it was would the Kyogre?

Dual flashed into existence on top of the Kyogre. His two blades extended until they were three metres long, and as they did so they started glowing bright green. He smashed one of them into the top of the Kyogre, and dragged the other along its hard skin towards its head. The Kyogre screeched in pain and began bucking hard. Just before he got to the tip of its face, it shook hard, sending him flying off. Dual crashed into the ground, hard.

As he groaned and got to his feet, I wasn't worried. Kyogre used energy and water-based attacks - Dual could take those easy, I thought. But no, the Universe decided to shit on me once more. Instead of shooting water or lightning at Dual, something he could handle, the Kyogre decided to sit on him.

Not literally, but the image was close enough. The Kyogre threw itself out of the water towards Dual. Thankfully it didn't actually make contact, but the shockwave caused by the Kyogre slamming into the ground was enough to send Dual flying backwards. He skidded through the snow, and then bashed into a rock that was hidden by the fluffy white powder. He cried out in pain.

I reached for Dual through our mind-link. I saw through his eyes that the rock had gashed a hole through his shoulder - already red blood was dropping, staining the white pureness laying all around us. There was no way he'd be able to move, and as a physical attacker that would be a problem.

I knew that Dual wouldn't be able to hear me over the sounds of the Kyogre and the muffling effect of the snowstorm, so I reached for him through our telepathic connection. Dual, I'm on my way, don't move around too much, I thought. Try firing off some Thunder Waves at the big bastard, that might keep it from getting close.

I began running towards Dual, pulling out one of my Full Heals as I did so. I saw Dual painfully raise his left arm, the one that was damaged. He supported it with his right hand, and began firing lightning bolts at the Kyogre. I didn't expect them to do much, but hopefully they'd hold it off until I could get Dual healthy again.

    OOC: ATK+2 from SD?

Thankfully, the blasts of electricity Dual was firing kept the Kyogre from coming any closer. I used the Full Heal on his wounded arm, and small sparks from his Thunder Wave attacks crawled onto my hands. Slowly, the Full Heal closed the wound and rejuvenated Dual. He got to his feet shakily. Just as the Kyogre returned fire.

A huge blast of white light shot out from the Kyogre and smashed into the ground in front of us. It sent both of us flying through the air, smashing into more snow. I saw that Dual had some serious wounds, so I pulled out another Super Potion and used it on him. The blood and bruises easily wiped away, and when the spray had finished its job, he looked a lot better.

"Alright Dual, it's time to continue this," I said to him. "Get a bit closer and Bulk Up. If it tries to hit you Protect yourself."

Dual nodded, got up, and began running towards the Kyogre. As he did so, he stretched his muscles using his hands and calves. When he was done, he'd flick me over our mind link and I could order his next attack.

As Dual got closer to the Kyogre it made a deep moaning sound. I wasn't quite sure what it was doing, so I looked at it through my Aura Reader. The heartbeat and mental-activity sensors were reporting extremely low levels. I realised that it was using Rest to recover its lost health and heal the muscle paralysis caused by Dual's Thunder Wave.

As soon as the thought occurred to me, Dual touched me through our mind link.

Okay Dual, the Kyogre has gone to sleep for a bit, I spoke telepathically, so this is a chance to hit it hard. Use Leaf Blade again, and toss some Magical Leaves while you're getting there.

Dual nodded. He began sprinting towards the dozing behemoth. He held up his hand, and six silver lights started swirling around in front of him. When the lights had taken on a circle shape, he reached out and grabbed them. The circles then stopped glowing silver and started glowing all the colours of the rainbow. Dual threw them like shuriken at the Kyogre, but I couldn't see what happened to them because I was too far away.

Just as Dual began extended his glowing-green blades to begin his Leaf Blade onslaught, my phone buzzed. I frowned, surprised that there was any connection out here. I checked the timestamp - it was from a few days ago, and it was from Buzz. I opened up the message.

Hey, James, Leo; You two seen the new stock lady? Daaaaamn, prime view from my office! Buzz

You lucky son-of-a-bitch. The one with the perfect hourglass figure? I typed back, full-well knowing it probably wouldn't send until the storm was over.

Over near the lake-banks, Dual sighed. Even when fighting a Legendary Pokemon, James couldn't concentrate to save his life.

Dual's blades were now extremely long - probably over 6 metres from what I could see. He ran up to the dozing Kyogre and smashed it hard in the face with one of his blades. He then ran up its fin, dragging the glowing green energy with him. Suddenly, the Kyogre's eyes snapped open and it roared.

Dual jumped off of it and threw some more Magical Leaves in the Kyogre's face. It flinched, and began to back away.

"That'll do Dual, it's running," I yelled out. "No need to overly piss it off."

Dual watched the fleeing Legendary as if considering chasing it, but eventually he sighed and began walking back to me. As I walked to meet him, I saw a part of a red suit sticking out of the snow. I pulled it out - it was a Santa suit, like what the helpers at malls wear. I shrugged and tucked it into my bag.
