(Really? I still have one more Pokemon on the list besides this one.)

    NBP13

Just as Nidoqueen had left and we had continued on our way, Ralts woke up. He was well-rested, which was a good thing.

“How are you doing buddy?” Jathan asked the little Pokémon. Ralts started to chirrup happily.

We passed by a marker that signaled that the Outpost was not far. Of course, I already knew this because of my Browser.

“We’re almost there,” I told Jathan. “I wonder if we’ll see anymore Pokémon on the way.” I knew that Jathan had already managed to capture three Pokémon, but he could still capture more. Who knows? There may be some better Pokémon to encounter.

Suddenly, I something caught my eye. It looked like a caterpillar or a worm crawling into the bushes. When the worm-like creature reached the bushes, the bushes started to rustle. I stopped to see what it was.

All of a sudden, something popped out of the bushes. It was covered in all sorts of leaves. Most of the leaves were in perfect shape, without any bite marks or rotten parts. It was a Burmy. I must have seen a Burmy trying to make itself a cloak.

Burmy evolved to a different Pokémon depending on their gender. Female Burmy evolved into Wormadam. Male Burmy evolved into Mothim. I wondered which gender this Burmy was.

“Jathan, are you interested in capturing a Burmy?” I asked the trainer.

OOC: My bad, I thought the Nidoqueen was the second to last encounter. By the way, if I don't take a Pokemon with me that I caught, do I get the Poke Ball back? Lastly, female please.

We walked on down the road, towards the lights in the sky. I doubted that there was anything in the Woods that I wanted more than what I had right now.

Even as I was thinking this, Dee pointed at a moving bush. Something inside the bush was wriggling around, and as I moved closer I saw that it was a Burmy. Like usual, the Universe was probably chuckling at me. I certainly wanted a Burmy, much more so than the Kricketune I had captured.

“Jathan, are you interested in capturing a Burmy?” Dee asked me.

"I certainly am!" I replied. Ralts, sensing action, jumped down from my arms and stood, ready to battle.

"Ralts, let's start small and conserve your energy," I said. "Try and confuse it with Confusion!"

Confusion was one of the least demanding attacks Ralts knew - it hardly tired him at all. Furthermore, it was a solid opening move, as sometimes, like with the Kricketune, it allowed him extra time to set up and fortify himself.

Ralts started glowing with a blue nimbus, and his eyes shone purple, try to meet the Burmy's.

    vs. Burmy BP1

(Is it possible that I rolled too many encounters? No matter, I'm willing to go on anyways. Also, couldn't post at all yesterday because BMG was down. I'm surprised I'm not too far behind.)

Jathan started the battle right away. He ordered Ralts to use Confusion. The Pokémon’s eyes started to glow as it used telekinesis to lift the Ralts into the air. Burmy wriggled from side to side as she attempted to break free of the psychic grasp. I could see some of her leaves fall off as she wriggled, revealing a black worm-like body.

Ralts then used his grasp on the Pokémon to slam it down into the ground. Burmy turned over on her back. More of the leaves surrounding her body fell to the ground, revealing her true form piece by piece. The slam had knocked Burmy out of her mind. She was seeing double everywhere.

She dived back into the bushes, perhaps to collect more leaves. Burmy would not do anything if their body wasn’t covered in some kind of cloak. Even if they were inside, they would find something to cover up their body with. I found it weird that this Burmy would try and create another cloak while in the middle of a battle. While Burmy would refrain from activity is their cloaks were not present, they would at least fight back, even without a cloak, if they determined that they were in danger. Maybe Burmy was confused and couldn’t quite grasp the situation that she was in.

I watched, patiently for the Burmy to come out of the bush. I wondered if Jathan would take advantage of this opportunity to get in a free attack.

After being knocked around by Ralts' Confusion attack, the Burmy had lost most of the leaves that made up its cloak. It immediately ran around underneath the bushes, making a rustling noise. I guessed it was recreating its cloak. I thought it was a little strange to be doing that in the middle of a battle, but it might be a species-wide idiosyncrasy that I didn't know about.

Besides, it was an advantage to me. Now Ralts could charge up another shockwave undisturbed.

"Start charging another shockwave, Ralts!" I called. "But only make it about half as big as last time, I don't want you overtiring yourself."

I had a quick thought, and then added: "Also, if the Burmy charges you before you're ready, just fire whatever you have!"

Ralts chirruped and began charging a ball of power, just like in the battle with Kricketune.

    vs Burmy BP2

Burmy’s obsession with having a cloak to protect his body had given Jathan and Ralts valuable time to think up a strategy and gain the advantage.

Start charging another shockwave, Ralts!” Jathan commanded Ralts. “But only make it about half as big as last time. I don't want you overtiring yourself.”

It looked like Jathan was taking measurements to prevent from laying himself the same trap as he did the last time he had used the shockwave attack. The last time that Ralts had used this attack, he was so tired that he was unable to battle for a long time. I even had to step in and prevent a Pokémon from attacking us since Ralts was unable to do so himself.

The little Pokémon started to squeal as he started to churn up his most powerful attack. Only this time, he wasn’t going to compress so much energy. Maybe when he evolved, he would be able to handle more energy, but right now, he had to stay within his level.

Burmy peeked out of the bush and saw Ralts focusing a giant sphere of pure energy towards him. He inched out of the bush and started to glow yellow. Soon, blue circles started to surround him. He would soon release these circles towards Ralts.

The attack that Burmy was using was called Hidden Power. Hidden Power varied between each Pokémon. Any Pokémon had a unique combination when using Hidden Power. I used my Browser to figure out what type of Hidden Power the Burmy had, so that I could relay the information to Jathan.

“According to my Browser,” I said, “Burmy’s Hidden Power type is Flying.”

The information that I gave Jathan would prove valuable to Jathan as he developed his strategy to capture the Burmy. After I gave Jathan the information, Burmy released the circles towards
Ralts, who was still focusing on his shockwave attack.

Ralts squealed as he again created the shockwave. Rarely did he get to use this move, so it was good practise. The blue sphere had already started to push his hands apart. I knew that the optimum time to fire was when his shoulders had to move to maintain the shell. So far, only his elbows were moving apart.

The sudden lack of the rustling sounds reminded me of the Burmy, and I looked back over to the bushes I had last seen it in. It had left them, its leaf cloak firmly reattached. It squeaked, and blue circles began swirling around its tiny figure. I had no idea what kind of attack it was until Dee edged over.

"According to my browser, Burmy's Hidden Power type is Flying," Dee said quietly.

This was good. It wouldn't do any major damage to Ralts by type disadvantage, and furthermore it was a special attack, which was good. Ralts' special defense was better than his physical defense.

By now, Ralts arms were almost as wide as they could go. I was hoping that Ralts would reach the optimum level before the Burmy fired the spheres, but no such luck. The spheres buzzed towards Ralts, separating and converging on him so he couldn't escape.

Okay, my options were to abandon the shockwave and escape, or fire the shockwave and hope for the best. I decided to have Ralts attack, because he had plenty of health and I didn't want to waste the shockwave.

Next, I could fire the shockwave before being hit or after. If I waited, some of the spheres might be weakened and Ralts would have a clearer shot, but the attack might break his control over the shockwave.

"Ralts, fire the wave now!" I called.

Ralts used his telekinesis to start chipping a tiny hole in the shell towards the Burmy. I could only hope that it would fire before the Hidden Power attack struck him.

    vs. Burmy BP3

Ralts had managed to charge his shockwave to the point where his arms were stretched out wide. Burmy’s Hidden Power attack was heading straight for him. Either, he would have to use the attack now and take damage, or he would have to ditch the attack to prevent being hit. It was a hard dilemma.

"Ralts, fire the wave now!" his trainer Jathan ordered.

Ralts concentrated on the front of the sphere to try and weaken the shell once again. Since it was smaller this time, he would not have as much trouble as the last time, when he had used this attack against Kricketune.

When the shell cracked, a steady beam fired towards the Burmy. At almost the same instant that Ralts had fired his attack, Burmy had released his Hidden Power attack. The attack discharged from Burmy in a circular fashion, going in each direction.

Ralts’s attack had managed to hit and did a bit of damage, but when one of the circles from the Hidden Power attack hit Ralts, he lost control of the big sphere of energy. He was knocked back and the sphere was left in between Ralts and Burmy. It was sustaining itself. I figured that it would probably die out when all of the concentrated energy had been released.

The energy from the sphere was released in every direction as the sphere itself spun rapidly.

“Luxray, use Protect on Jathan and me,” I ordered my Pokémon. Luxray nodded and created a transparent shield that would reflect the attacks that came towards us.

I should probably figure out a way to protect Ralts and Burmy too, I thought. I didn’t want them to sustain too much damage. Besides, Burmy would probably try to use the distraction caused by the rogue shockwave to escape.

I threw out 2 Pokeballs, which contained Umbreon and Dragonite

“Umbreon, use Protect on yourself and Ralts! Dragonite, you protect Burmy!” Both Pokémon nodded and created shields like Luxray had done for Jathan and me.

Meanwhile, the sphere continued to spin, releasing violent beams of energy in every direction. The wild Pokémon had managed to retreat to their habitats safely. None of the trees had been uprooted. Otherwise, it would have been bad for me and the trainer I was escorting. However, a few bushes had been shaved, and one tree had a big gaping hole in its trunk.

The sphere was slowly getting smaller and smaller. My Pokémon were straining themselves to keep their shields up.

“Hang in there!” I yelled to them. They nodded and continued to protect us from the blast.

Finally, the shockwave had completely emptied itself, and the attack subsided. I looked around the forest. There was that tree with the big hole in it. I didn’t make a big deal because it would make the perfect habitat for a Hoothoot. A big path of dug up dirt created a border between Ralts and Burmy; however, this would grow back. In short, no serious damage had occurred, which was good.

I recalled Umbreon and Dragonite and thanked them for a job well done. Then, I told Luxray that she could let her shield down. She lay down on the ground and started to rest.

    I looked over at Jathan.

“Yeah,” I said, “your Pokémon did that.” I smirked a bit to show that I was joking. Then, I stepped back and motioned with my hand to signal to Jathan that he could continue with his battle.

Ralts fired the shockwave and the somewhat weaker burst of energy shot towards the Burmy. It smashed into the Burmy, sending it flying backwards. But it had already launched the Hidden Power spheres, and one of them struck Ralts, knocking him backwards - away from the sphere.

Now that Ralts wasn't controlling the protective cover, the shockwave began erupting in all directions. The shockwave spun in a circle, and it seemed like a typhoon was blasting throughout the forest, but it was only emanating from a single point.

Dee acted fast. He summoned a Dragonite and an Umbreon, and all three of his Pokemon protected the two battlers and us spectators. We rode out the violent storm, and when it seemed to have ceased, Dee returned his Pokemon and surveyed the damage.

"Yeah, your Pokemon did that," he joked, but I wasn't paying attention. It seemed like every time Ralts used a shockwave destruction and chaos happened. There were holes in trees, shrubs ripped up, and a deep trench inbetween the two combatants.

I shook my head and tried to regain my concentration. The Burmy was starting to look tired - time to use the finisher plan.

"Ralts, get a little closer and use Hypnosis," I called, "but don't get too close!"

Ralts got up, dusted himself off, and began walking slowly towards the Burmy, his eyes glowing deep blue. I hoped the Burmy looked up - Hypnosis required eye contact.

    vs. Burmy BP4

Jathan shook his head at the literal path of destruction that Ralts had created. The little guy didn’t just pack a punch. He packed a wallop (sorry for that)! Burmy lie down on the ground, immobile. He didn’t move one bit. For a minute, I thought that maybe he had been knocked out, but then, I could see that he was actually struggling to get up.

"Ralts, get a little closer and use Hypnosis," Jathan commanded his Pokémon,” but don't get too close!"

Ralts did as he was told. He approached the Burmy. His eyes glowed as he attempted to lock eyes with the Burmy. Burmy slowly struggled back up. Some of his leaves had been removed. He was frantically collecting the leaves that had fallen off when his eyesight connected with Ralts’s. Instantly, the Pokémon fell to the ground, asleep. His black worm-like body was fully exposed, offering Jathan and me a rare opportunity to see how a Burmy actually looked.

Jathan and Ralts now had the advantage over Burmy. Since Burmy was asleep, he had no way to defend himself. This battle will be over soon, I determined to myself. The sleeping Burmy made me crave my own bed. As much as I loved guiding trainers through the park, I couldn’t wait to go to my quarters and rest up.

OOC: I'm kinda antsy to finish this off, so if you don't mind, assuming I capture the Burmy, can you please start the last Encounter in the same post?

Ralts slowly moved closer, and while the Burmy was trying to repair its cloak it made the chance mistake of looking up, meeting Ralts' eyes. It immediately fell asleep, and its cloak fell apart on it, revealing the body inside. It was fully black, and had multiple stubby legs, although nowhere near as many legs as a millipede.

Now the battle was almost mine. I felt Ralts reach for commands over our empathic link - he knew the battle would soon be over, and he wanted to end it. He wasn't very tired, but he was fatigued. We had both been up for about twenty four hours now, and even though the adventure had been fun, we were both running out of steam.

I sent through the link a mental image of my plan. Ralts would switch into Dream Eater mode, absorbing that one last piece of health from the Burmy, lowering it into the potential capture range and at the same time restoring his health in case of emergencies. Once he'd sucked one load of dreams from the Burmy, I would throw a Park Ball, attmempting to capture the little creature. With any luck, it would be sucked inside and captured.

Ralts receieved the plan, and his glowing nimbus turned very dark blue as he began Dream Eater. I knew that this was probably the last battle of my run coming to an end - I still had one Encounter left, but it would probably be a Pokemon I either did not want or were not prepared to throw and of my current captures over for.

So, with the knowledge that perhaps my last battle was drawing to a close, I watched silently as Ralts began his Dream Eater attack.

    vs. Burmy BP5

    (Sure, that's cool.)

After Burmy had fallen asleep, there was a brief pause. I thought that maybe Ralts and Jathan were communicating via psychic link. A few moments later, Ralts had jumped back into action and started to glow a dark blue color. The same color surrounded Burmy. A slow, steady, dark blue mist emerged from Burmy and floated towards Ralts, who absorbed the mist. Ralts was using Dream Eater to damage Burmy and at the same time, heal himself.

Burmy stirred in his sleep. Whenever Dream Eater was used on a sleeping Pokémon, that Pokémon’s dreams would suddenly become a nightmare. Pokémon with the Dream Eater attack fed off of the energy created by pure dreams, rendering them into nightmares as they “ate” more of the Pokémon’s dreams.

Ralts glowed as he received more health. Slowly, the scratches on his body started to disappear, and he started to look healthier and more energetic.

Then, after the Burmy’s dream had been fully secured, Jathan pulled out a shiny Park Ball from his bag. With a slight flick of his wrist, he threw the ball at the sleeping Pokémon. The Parkball released a red stream of light that engulfed Burmy and sucked him within. Burmy didn’t struggle much. It was asleep and had a very low HP count. A few seconds later, the Parkball had stopped glowing and a sound signaled a successful capture. I picked up the Parkball and congratulated Jathan on a successful capture.

We didn’t really stop to talk or anything because Jathan seemed ready to get the Park run over with. We’d been here for a while, not to mention the amount of time Jathan had already spent in the park when Leo was taking him through.

We continued walking down the path that we were taking. The pulsing outpost was a welcoming view. I pointed it out to Jathan.

“Well, we’re here,” I said. I could already picture myself in bed and not waking up for a few days; however, I knew that my duties as a ranger would only allow me to have a few hours of sleep at maximum. I had picked up the pace a bit towards the outpost when I was stopped by a crab/mushroom hybrid. I immediately tagged the Pokémon as a Parasect. It swiped the air, perhaps it was trying to show off its strength to us.

Jathan did have one more encounter available. His Ralts also seemed to be in good health. If he wanted to battle the Parasect, then he could so. All he had to do was say the word. I asked him if he wanted it.

“Jathan,” I said. “Do you want to battle this Parasect?”

OOC: Finally done. Thanks for finishing off the run, it was fun.

Ralts stayed in Dream Eater mode for a minute or so, and then I threw the ball at the unmoving Burmy. The ball wobbled a little bit and then the pressure point glowed red.

Dee picked it up and congratulated me. I smiled back, but I was quite tired and ready to end the run. We all stumbled towards the Ranger Outpost.

Just outside the Outpost I encountered my last Pokemon. A Parasect was waving its claws threateningly at us.

“Do you want to battle this Parasect?” Dee asked me.

I was torn. Parasect was on my National Park dream team, but I was happy with the Pokemon I had captured, and I was ready to leave.

"Nah, I think I'll be right," I said slowly. "I think I'm ready to leave the Park now."

As Dee led the way out, I knew that I would be leaving the Kricketune behind. I just hoped it wouldn't have any hard feelings towards me - after all, I didn't want to fight in the first place.

All in all, the run was a great adventure, and I couldn't wait to come back.

(I enjoyed it too. Hope you enjoy your Pokemon!)

    NBP14 (CLOSING POST)

"Nah, I think I'll be right," Jathan replied when I asked him if he wanted to battle the Parasect. "I think I'm ready to leave the Park now."

He continued towards the Outpost, leaving the Parasect behind.

“Tough luck, buddy,” I said to the Parasect as I dropped a berry next to it. I followed behind Jathan. When we had made it to the Outpost and teleported back, I exchanged goodbyes with him, and we each went on our way.

Thinking back from the time that I took the reins for the park run from Leo to now, I thought that it was a great run. I’d witnessed some amazing things such as the rare song of the Kricketune and the unbelievable power that Ralts was able to summon. I had fun and I was sure that Jathan did too.

At the checkout counter, I gave Jathan’s captured Pokémon to the operator there. The operator would register Jathan’s ID number to the Parkballs, a mandatory procedure that prevented Pokémon from being captured a second time. After that, the operator would relay the Parkballs back to Jathan, who could then take over training and raising them.

I filled out the necessary paperwork and sent them to the Park Warden. Then, I went to my quarters and plopped right into bed. Luxray curled up at the foot of my bed, and we both slept for a long time, at least until it was time to take another trainer through the Park.
