Why can't you use the new calc on the ref test?

The thing about the whole "you made this decision without consulting us" complaint is that this decision was made years ago, with due deliberation. We're not going to re-make all of the old decisions. That'd undermine structure and political stability and what have you. You guys weren't privy to it, and not a lot of people who were there at the time remember it, but it's still there, and it's still applicable. Which I know you in particular aren't arguing, Evan, but other people are. So. xDD

I really don't care that you just took the ref test, I've failed it five times (though I haven't taken one recently) and I'm more than qualified to speak on any subject in URPG. arty:

I've been using both calculators longer than you've been a member of URPG, so I'm not really worried about that. It does not make it too easy.

And, the new calc just does math for you. Make the rounding question a question on the quiz. There is no point in doing unneeded math, sorry there isn't.

You guys can keep spouting stupid crap, but you're never going to convince me that we need to be doing extra math. LAME!!!

And again, if the new calc does too much math then I guess the old calc does too much math too! So we should just not have any calculators at all right?!?! Oh wait, then probably even Ataro, the head ref, would be fucked. HYPOCRITES!!!!

And maybe you thought ST was head ref because he runs around thinking he owns the place and has the final say in everything when we all just humor him so he doesn't go insane. :sweatlol:

it makes no difference weather or not you allow it, i get the same results using both, difference is simply how long it takes (from my point of view)..if we don't want to waste hours ref testing, use the new one, save those hours, otherwise keep the old one.

And whilst i am happy to use the old one for the test, i prob never will again. Thing is, I could say i used the old one, give the tester a link to it etc and still use the new one. I wouldn't but i could.

A better idea would be to test how well they can use the ffa calculator as well instead of making us use the old one

 

Whatever happened to respecting what the higher ups have to say? This is a senseless debate that should have ended a month ago when people stopped posting in it. Perhaps even sooner. I personally hate the new calculator, the old one is just simpler and less cluttered. Even after I get around to taking the ref test a second time if I pass I would still not use it myself.

Regardless. No one needs to be convinced of anything. Everyone just needs to accept that this is the way things are. If you have a problem with it, discuss it in private with someone in charge. In the case of reffing that would be Ataro, being the head ref. There was never a need for this thread in the first place and other people never needed to be coming in here and picking sides and going back and forth. It was banned for a reason, deal with it, and move on.

Also, just an observation, but Sota... If you have failed five times it might be time to give up. >_>

It seems to me the trainer court should be to politely discuss issue that are important. Not complain because something isn't your way and use naughty words to fill space. Do you type to your mother with those hands? For shame Sota, for shame.

The higher ups have said a few reasons why it was banned and have said it won't be unbanned. Why isn't that enough?

No, by my logic people should have discussions not posts full of "fuck you, fuck this, fuck that." I'm not saying people shouldn't talk about these kind of things, but after all the complaining and ignoring the answers you get I think it might be time for you to give up. Otherwise this will just turn into more ignoring what people say so you can act all high and mighty when in the end, despite your attitude, you don't really have any power to change the rule the people in charge have said they won't change.

 

@Elrond...I'm merely pointing out facts, why are we implementing rules that are hard to enforce.........yes, much of the urpg runs on honesty but I honestly believe that at least 20% of the refs that have passed since the new calc have used that calc in a test.



No, you don't need to be able to use the FFA calc but it sure save a lot of time and effort, espesh if there are lots of mons. We don't want people making mistakes with it
