First battle of basics for two new players! Gastly's hopes of confusing Houndour into smacking itself didn't pan out too well, and Houndour proved to be a formidable opponent for the poisonous ghost cloud thing. A combination of Crunch and Faint Attack, neither of which being smacks, allowed for Houndour to KO Gastly. Even Hypnosis missed, sealing the deal for Amakiir. Good game!

Poliwag needed for two Hydro Pumps to hit to KO Gastly. Generally speaking, this happened! However, one game, Gastly's Hypnosis put Poliwag to sleep and Dream Eater healed Gastly out of KO zone. This allowed Amakiir to pull off a decisive victory! The other games though, Poliwag was just too tough to beat. Good game!

Quite the intense match! Gastly quickly put Houndour to sleep, and Houndour had no choice but to brute out its slumber. Gastly was so cruel and even cast some voodoo Nightmares onto the Houndour, hurting the poor fire-puppy in its sleep! However, Houndour woke up before too much damage could be done and landed a powerful Crunch against the opposing ghost. Gastly, near death, used Destiny Bond to take its opponent with it, but seeing as it was the end of the match and Gastly was the first mon to fall, the battle was tilted in Crockin's favor! Also, seeing as Gastly now has 5 battles, it's able to evolve into the spookiest of them all - Haunter!! Good game!

Salamence switched out of Cloyster's range after activating an Intimidate, which allowed Electivire to come in and comfortably take out Cloyster. Gengar was looking to be difficult to handle, but Electivire scored a paralysis that allowed Salamence to outspeed and eventually KO the ghost. Good game!

Randoms. Both Salamences ended up doing most of the sweeping, with DR's taking out Lucario and Camerupt and Knitty's taking out Raichu, Charizard, and Sylveon. Other than that, it was pretty much blow for blow. Ultimately, Knitty came out on top. Good game!

Blastoise had a tough time against Ferrothorn, but Charizard came in and took it out quickly. However, the speedy Excadrill was then able to take out almost all of Andarene's remaining mons. After it had been weakened greatly, Empoleon came in and Aqua Jetted for the KO on the mole. However, Neon still had two sends so he put in MegaLucario and KO'd with a Close Combat. Good game!

WinterVines (Weavile, Vaporeon, Stunfisk, Starmie) vs. Akinai (Glaceon, Scrafty, Butterfree, Alakazam)

Weavile took down Glaceon with a combination of Sub and Focus Punch after a lolzy turn of Swords Dance/Charm. However, Scrafty came in and threatened pretty badly. Weavile swapped for Vaporeon, and Scrafty got a few boosts and managed to bring Vaporeon to a pretty low health. Vaporeon Baton Passed Aqua Ring and Acid Armor to Stunfisk, but Scrafty Dragon Tailed it out of there. Starmie came in and was scared, so it switched back to Stunfisk, who managed to score a critical paralysis on Scrafty. While I'm pretty sure the paralysis didn't actually paralyze Scrafty once throughout the entire battle, it did allow for Vaporeon to come in and use a faster Haze, stopping the potential Moxie sweep. Starmie came in afterwards and was prepared to take down Scrafty, but Scrafty switched to Butterfree. Starmie used a handy-dandy Reflect Type to stomach Butterfree's moves with relative ease, as well as avoid the SE Crunch when Scrafty came in after Butterfree had fallen. Ultimately though, Scrafty roared Starmie out into Weavile, but Weavile's Brick Break ended Scrafty's reign of terror once and for all. At this point, Alakazam was Akinai's only remaining send. And it had no moves that would actually do anything to Weavile. Two Night Slashes sealed the deal for Akinai. Good game!

Armaldo was looking pretty scary, at the beginning of the match. Airik had given Gourgeist a Choice Scarf, hoping to Trick away Armaldo's Red Card so it could be taken out, but it used Trick Room first which lead to Gourgeist being locked into TR! Ferrothorn replaced Gourgeist and slowly whittled Armaldo's health away from Iron Barbs/Rocky Helmet, to the point where Ferrothron had set up Swords Dance and would be able to KO Armaldo without activating the Red Card. Machamp came in and took out Ferrothorn as Trick Room ended, but Sceptile's Flying Gem Acrobatics took out what remained of Machamp. Ludicolo replaced the fallen Macho Mon, but Sceptile outspeeded Ludicolo due to Unburden! That allowed Sceptile to grab a Swords Dance boost and finish off Ludicolo. Finally, Swoobat came in and used its Unaware shenanigans to survive and take out Sceptile. However, Gourgeist was still in healthy condition and was able to come in and KO with Shadow Sneak. Good game!

Challenger BestyxD (Blaziken, Gengar, Leafeon, Infernape) vs. Olivine City Gym Leader Neonsands (Excadrill, Empoleon, ??????, ??????)

Excadrill 2tuff. Blaziken swapped into Gengar to avoid the EQ KO, but Excadrill outsped Gengar due to Sand Rush. As such, it was able to set up a Swords Dance and proceed to sweep almost all of Besty's team. By the time Infernape came in, Excadrill had been lowered enough by Life Orb recoil and other damage that a Banded Mach Punch would KO it, but this allowed Empoleon to take advantage of the situation and set up with an Agility and carefully time the activation of a Petaya berry. This allowed Empoleon to take out the rest of Besty's team, finishing off with a Hydro Cannon KO against Blaziken. Good game!

Challenger legs (Greninja, Aegislash, Blaziken, Talonflame) vs. Olivine City Gym Leader Neonsands (Metagross, Excadrill, Ferrothorn, Empoleon)

Pretty close game. Metagross had a hard time against Greninja and a harder time against Aegislash, but Excadrill came in and took out the sword thing after some confusion about Stance Change. Ferrothorn came in against the returning Greninja, which took the opportunity to Taunt and switch to Blaziken. Blaziken attempted to set up and was mildly successful but its Speed Boost was mitigated by Bulldoze. Talonflame was Baton Passed the Swords Dance and was looking pretty dangerous, but the recoil/sand/iron barbs dropped it to a low enough level where Empoleon could come in and set up a bit before comfortable handling the rest of JoM's team. JoM had little moves left so he forfeited. Good game!

Charmander always stayed on top. When Purrloin would give Char the opportunity, it would set up with a Dragon Dance and KO with Outrage. However, it often came down to Purrloin's Night Slash activating Blaze. Purrloin may have won some of them had Night Slash critted, but my dice weren't up for it. Purrloin had 3 prior battles where Charmander had 1. Good game!

Challenger WinterVines (Conkeldurr, Whimsicott, Basculin, ??????) vs. Geosenge Town Gym Leader Felly (Malamar, Hydreigon, Honchkrow, Houndoom)

Conkeldurr did a lot of damage. Malamar's Psycho Cut was Countered, KOing the squid thing. Then Hydreigon sent an illegal move, allowing Conk to get a Drain Punch off for free and raise it to almost full HP. Mach Punch finished off the dragon, and finally Honchkrow was able to take down the beast. Whimsicott came in and finished off Honch after taking a Sucker Punch, but then Mega-Houndoom came in and looked pretty intimidating. Whim's Cotton Spore then allowed Banded Adaptability Basculin to come in and OHKO with Waterfall. Good game!

Baby New Year's Eve's Eve FFA! Send a NFE Pokemon and get +1 in three stats of your choice (or +3 in a single stat/any combination that adds up to 3)

FFA. Not a good idea when the ref has to leave for an hour and a half during the middle of it. Sorry dudes ;_;

Other than that, was a good FFA! Nice balance of NFE mons who were taking advantage of the stats and FE mons that were taking advantage of the NFE mons being NFE. Gourgeist was taken out by Smoochum (who had been personally offended prior to the FFA), and Talonflame was taken out by the boosted Froakie soon after. Dusclops was playing dangerously, Snatching subs from mons while Murkrow A would Foul Play it, surviving until both Murkrow teamed up to take down the Ghost together. Cloyster boosted its already high defense, which left it a big target for the several electric types that occupied the battlefield. Crobat was then taken down by a combination of Charge Beams and Psychics from Rotoms and Porygons. Lucario, having been previously weakened by Talonflame's speedy Flare Blitz, was soon taken out by another Rotom-Wash. Murkrow B was playing it risky and went for a Tailwind instead of Protect/Sub and paid the price when several mons attacked it, finishing off one of the Krow brothers. Smoochum, already weakened by a Belly Drum-boosted Headbutt, was taken down by the other Murkrow as a last attempt to better Ash's own place, seeing as he was taken out briefly afterwards. Froakie was paralyzed by a Discharge, leaving it an easy target. At this point, Syn's Rotom was the only thing without substantial defense boosts, so the rest of the mons worked together to take it out. And then from here, it just went down hill. There were a lot of stat boosts, including a situation where 4/6 remaining mons had Defense+6 and SpDef+2 or higher. Goomy, the only mon without Psych Up/insanely high defense was taken out soon after Metapod, leaving 4/4 mons with Psych Up. Ouch. Reuni was the main booster, grabbing Calm Minds and Trick Rooms as it went. Finally, when everything had enough boosts, Porygon2 became the next biggest target. Reuniclus' Focus Blasts always seemed to hit, allowing for P2's health to be slowly whittled away. When Ditto was inflicted with a crucial Toxic, WTP thought it was game over for the imitation washing machine, but Rest brought it right back to the top again. This allowed to P2 to be KO'd and for Swablu to pull off a Haze in hopes of limiting the defensive capabilities of its opponents. However, the remaining Pokemon retaliated against Swablu and KO'd it promptly. At this point, the Charge Beam boost really sealed the deal for Ditto - it's Shadow Ball would now outspeed and 2hko, leaving a KO'd Reuniclus in the wake. Good game!

Challenger legs (Venusaur, Rotom-Wash, Blaziken, Greninja) vs. Sunyshore City Gym Leader Synthesis (Raichu, Heliolisk, Manectric, Eelektross)

Venusaur was looking pretty difficult during this battle. It Roared away Raichu and forced Heliolisk into battle, which wasn't actually that awful because of Dry Skin. Venu had been Yawned, but chose to stay in and Roar Heliolisk again, bringing in Manectric (who too would come back to be pretty useful). Finally, as Venusaur fell asleep and switched to Rotom-Wash, Manectric Volt Switched out when its sub had been broken. Eelektross rolled around, and Wash switched back to Venusaur. Eel got pretty lucky though, with Venusaur's Leech seed missing and a fully par'd move allowing Eel to take control and eliminate Venusaur. Rotom-Wash came in and got a Rest off, Lum activating and bringing it back to full health. Heliolisk was poisoned while attacking Rotom, limiting its sweeping capabilities. However, when given the opportunity, Heliolisk switched for Raichu, who scared away Rotom and brought in Blaziken. A well timed Counter brought Blaziken to a particularly low health, allowing Extremespeed to KO. Blaziken swapped for Greninja before that could happen, and Greninja beckoned Heliolisk to come in and soak up a Hydro Pump. After a few moves, Heliolisk was able to weaken Greninja and Volt Switch into Mega-Manectric, which outspeed and OHKO'd the rest of legs' team. Good game!

Wash was just too hard to take down. It out-stalled Quagsire, took out Krook, and let Nidoking die to LO recoil while resting to get up to nearly full health. A Dark Pulse and a Hydro Pump finished off Golurk. Good game!
