    Maxie (Cranidos) vs. Dinobot (Larvesta)

Bee had a good Hidden Power for these, and Maxie sometimes made some weird move choices. Cranidos often times would've been able to win had it used Head Smash more often, but when it did, my dice sometimes wouldn't let it happen. Larvesta is a perma so no pay for Bee. Good game!

Dinobot wins (x5) and loses (x2) and earns $0

Elite Four Member Ataro (Infernape, Whimsicott, Alakazam, Blaziken, Metagross, Jolteon) vs. Challenger WTP (Infernape, Whimsicott, Metagross, Dragonite, Jolteon, Togekiss)

There were several points where the battle could've shifted, and I honestly couldn't tell who was going to win until the very end. To start things off, both battlers led with Infernape. After the Fake Out, Ataro's Nape got Encored into Stealth Rock. When Whimsicott swapped in, WTP's Nape used Stealth Rocks of its own. Whimsicott stayed in for Encore, but an unexpected item in Mental Herb allowed Infernape to break free of the Encore and OHKO Whim. Ataro's Infernape came back in, won the speed tie, and took out WTP's. Whimsicott scared away Infernape, drawing out Alakazam, but Whim predicted a switch and got a cool U-Turn off. Metagross came in and took out the Alakazam with a surprise Choice Scarf, and it was honestly starting to look down for Ataro. However, Blaziken came in, got a few speed boosts while KOing Jolteon, and Baton Passed the boosts to Metagross. Meta proceeded to KO Dragonite and eventually KO Whimsicott from an Explosion. However, WTP's team had launched a Tailwind, which allowed a speedy Togekiss to threaten Ataro's team. Ataronape worked its magic to out-stall Tailwind but died in the process. Then, Ataro revealed his last mon to be Jolteon. Jolteon got a lucky paralyze on Discharge while Togekiss yawned, and then Jolteon Volt Switched into Blaziken. Blaziken finished off both of WTP's remaining Pokemon, giving Ataro the win. Good Game!

Ataro wins, defends his position, and receives $4000
    WTP loses and gets $3000

Elite Four Member Ash K. (Chandelure, Togekiss, Blaziken, Murkrow, Espeon, Lugia) vs. Challenger Synthesis (Mamoswine, Whimsicott, Slowbro, Jolteon, Metagross, Ditto)

An intense match in every sense of the word. Chandelure tried doing its Trick shenanigans on Mamoswine, but Mamoswine simply attacked, bringing it down to dangerously low levels. However, Mamoswine was then locked into Earthquake, which allowed Togekiss to come in and get a free turn while Mamoswine swapped out. However, Whimsicott countered this pretty well - it absorbed the Yawn and allowed Mamoswine to come back in, no longer locked. Using Stealth Rock here was probably one of the most influential moves of the game - it was pretty unexpected too, considering that Mamo was Scarf'd. However, it paid off in the long run. Whimsicott came back in again and worked its mojo, gaining some health from lefties as it did, but when it used Protect, Ash used Encore. Jolt swapped in and said "no way." By this time, Tailwind had petered out, which allowed Jolteon to strike fear into Togekiss’ fluffy little heart. Ash swapped into Blaziken, but then Jolteon ended using Thunder Wave! Blaziken would have a hard time setting up and baton passing, but Jolteon was still susceptible to Blaziken’s attacks, so Syn played it safe and went into Slowbro. Blaze attacked, but Slowbro’s bulk, resistance, and lefties made it have a tiny impact. Blaze knew it was in danger of being KO’d, so it swapped to Murkrow while Slowbro attacked (wasn’t enough to take Murkrow into KO range though, especially with Prankster Roost). Murkrow Roosted, Slowbro Yawned. Murk stayed in, hoping to catch Syn off guard, which was kind of true because Slowbro yawned once more, but Murkrow fell asleep after using Toxic. Jolteon came back in, Roared away the Calm Mind-boosted Murkrow (a lucky Sleep Talk roll), and ended up in a showdown against Espeon. Syn didn’t like his prospects against the Magic Bouncer, so he switched to Metagross. They had a bit of a stat-up war, Meta gaining speed, attack, and accuracy while Espeon used Heal Bell and Psych Up. Ketchum thought that an Acc+2 Sing would really punch Metagross in its metal testicles, but SURPRISE METAGROSS HAS A CHESTO BERRY. This allowed Metagross to outspeed and threaten Espeon. However, Espeon swapped into Chandelure, sacrificing the Ghost to the rocks in order to avoid a potential boost from Meteor Mash. Murkrow came back in, Hazed, and tried to confuse Metagross, but Meta was having none of it and KO’d Murk without taking any damage. However, Blaziken, now unparalyzed, could outspeed and KO with Flamethrower, which it did, gaining Speed and lefties in the process. Slowbro came in and Trick Roomed, using the speed against Blaziken, but Blaziken thankfully Baton Passed outta there. Togekiss came in and drove away Slowbro, which was fearing a Magic Coat. Jolteon came in and activated Togekiss’ Red Card as it Roosted, bringing itself back up to reasonable health. Slowbro came back in and used Ice Beam as Kiss used Wish. Bro was expecting a Baton Pass to Blaziken, but that was when Ash decided to reveal his final Pokemon: Lugia. Lugia ate the Rocks damage, took the Surf, and then was put back at full health due to the Wish. Lugia attempted setting up a bit, but Jolteon came in and Roared it out. Espeon came in, and Jolteon Volt Switched out. Syn used his last unrevealed Pokemon, Ditto, to come in and copy Espeon’s boosts. Espeon thought it was silly, but Syn used Espeon’s Trick against it! Espeon was stuck with the Choice Scarf and locked into Calm Mind! That forced out Espeon into Lugia, which attempted to Calm Mind/Recover stall with mild success, except for the fact that SHADOW BALL DROPPED BOTH TIMES IT WAS SUCCESSFULLY USED. Lugia was scared out by Whimsicott after Ditto had died, and Espeon came in after, planning on Tricking away its Choice Scarf for Whimsi’s yummy leftovers. However, Whimsi’s priority Substitute blocked that, leaving Espeon locked into a failing Trick. Whimsicott set up Leech Seeds when Lugia came back in and was getting some massive HP off of Lugia’s high base stat. Lugia knew it couldn’t survive indefinitely against Whim, so it swapped to Blaziken. Blaziken scared out Whimsicott (after Hurricane missed), so Slowbro replaced it, which scared out Blaziken. We decided to leave the haunted house and Blaziken instead used Baton Pass to Lugia. Slowbro got a Toxic off, which managed to eventually bring Lugia down to near death levels before it switched out to Espeon. Espeon tried to Trick away its Scarf again, but Mamoswine (who had already been tricked a scarf at the beginning of the battle) came in. Mamoswine’s Icicle Crash missed, and Espeon’s Psychic hit Mamo. Once Syn knew Espeon was locked into Psychic, he went back into Slowbro, who could stomach Psychics just about all day. Then, Slowbro set up Trick Room, which really was quite influential. Slowbro oustped and KO’d both Togekiss and Blaziken eventually. When Trick Room ended, Ash K. was left with only his Espeon and Lugia. Then there was some stalling with them that lasted about two hours no big deal!!! Eventually, Espeon came to the point where it was locked into Morning Sun against Whimsicott, and Espeon then switched into Lugia for the last time. Leech Seed was slowly sapping away at Lugia’s health, it was Taunted, and didn’t get the critical hit it needed on Aeroblast. THE BEHEMOTH FELL TO WHIMSICOTT’S HIDDEN POWER. It was over after that. Espeon was locked into Signal Beam. Whimsicott died due to confusion (which I totally predicted btw), and Mamoswine came in to finish up. Mamo used the scarf it had been Tricked with to use speedy Bulldozes and finish up the game.

Good, perhaps even a great game! Long as hell, but totally worth it!

Synthesis wins, receives $4000, and is one step closer to becoming URPG champion!
Ash K. loses and gets $3000
I ref and get $12000 (WTP, Senior Ref/Mod, said I should get triple pay for this 9 hour monstrosity)

Pastoria City Gym Leader Nitro (Rotom-Wash, Gyarados, Gastrodon, Kingdra) vs. Ace Trainer Liam (Ludicolo, Jolteon, Kabutops, Whimsicott)

Ludicolo was hard to counter. However, Rotom-Wash made some pretty good predictions, T-Waving Ludicolo and using Pain Split for insane health regen. Rotom-Wash Volt Switched to Gyarados, who could handle the Ludicolo from here on out. It didn't quite OHKO though, so Gyara went for a Dragon Dance as Ludicolo switched to Jolteon. Now that Gyarados outsped Jolteon and threatened to OHKO with EQ, Liam swapped to Kabutops, which took an EQ to the face. However, due to Swift Swim, it was able to outspeed and almost OHKO. However, it could not, so Gyarados took that out. Jolteon came in and Quick Attacked for the KO, halting the Moxie sweep. Gastrodon came in, scared out Jolteon, took out Ludi, and then fell to Whimsicott's Giga Drain (which recovered precisely the amount of HP that Ice Beam dealt in damage). Kingdra used its mixed attacking stats to end the battle. Pretty close! Good game!

Beldum (Dragonite, Metagross, Magnezone, Raichu) vs. Ace Trainer Liam (Whimsicott, Swampert, ??????, ??????)

Dragonite started the battle strong, threatening Whimsicott with its Hurricanes, but Swampert came in and put a halt to that. Metagross came in for Dnite, which was fearing an Ice Punch, and Metagross retaliated with a Grass Knot. When Whimsicott swapped into the relatively weak Grass Knot, Metagross took the chance to try and set up. However, setting up on Whimsicott is next to impossible. Whimsicott scared out Metagross, but not before taking out a chunk of its health via Leech Seed. From there, Dragonite came in and made one mistake that Liam continued to capitalize on. Whimsicott subbed while Dragonite used Thunder Wave, and Whimsicott Encored that one mistake so that it could easily get some boosts (Def+6 Att/SpAtt+3 SUB) before disposing of its target. From there, the battle was basically over. Whimsicott's Hidden Power was super effective against the rest of Beldum's team, and its massive boosts made it impossible to stop. Good game!

Growlithe had the perfect abilities to counter Charmander's playing style. Flash Fire and Intimidate both made winning the basics very hard for Mlouden, so Growlithe took the win. There was a possibility of Charmander's win, but it involved multiple crits, which my dice weren't willing to hand out. Good game!

Petalburg City Gym Leader Feng (Porygon2, Clefable, Togekiss) vs. Challenger SLC (Infernape, Alakazam, Espeon)

A mega shit-storm. First there was a scuffle about the rules. Then after Porygon, Clefable, and Infernape had all fallen, Togekiss came in and haxxed the shit out of Alakazam. Even though Magic Bounce Espeon could've swapped in at several points to bounce back some stuff. When SLC realized that his Zam was going nowhere and doing nothing, he switched to Espeon, who repeatedly hammered Zap Cannon (which missed all but once). Then we realized that the PP ran out, so we had to reverse back to earlier in the battle. Espeon died and then Alakazam died. Good game!

This was pretty fast! Gengar attacked Jynx the first turn, which warranted being attacked the next turn. Sigilyph forgot to send, and Jynx was KO'd by Heracross' Feint to get a Moxie boost. However, it couldn't hold onto that boost for too long because it died from Skarmory's Drill Peck soon after. Ampharos fell to a combination of Heracross' previous EQs and Glalie's Hidden Power. Ditto had to head out so it Exploded @ Skarmory and was dead. Jellicent forfeited soon after it sent Calm Mind, which it couldn't learn. Glalie could've won if the Accuracy rolls were nicer, but my dice didn't let it happen. Skarmory won from Steel Wing hitting with dat EVA-1 ! Good game!

DarknessRuler (Salamence, Ambipom, Charizard, Gengar) vs. Sky Lark (Blaziken, Togekiss, [Tyranitar], [Gengar])

Salamence Intimidated Blaziken at the beginning, which made the looks of a Baton Pass sweep unlikely, but all that Blaziken needed to pass was that one speed boost. The attack drop didn't even matter because Toge was too cool. It was probably anybody's game until Togekiss was able to Encore Salamence into Fly. This allowed Togekiss to set up two Nasty Plots while retaining relatively high health. It then took out Salamence and Ambipom with little issue, but Kiss failed to OHKO Charizard. Luckily, however, Togekiss got a freeze on Tri-Attack, allowing Togekiss to remain unscathed and finish off the job. Gengar fell soon after. Good game!

A pretty quicky FFA. Klinklang became an immediate target after getting some boosts and fell to a combination of Vaporeon's and Raichu's attacks. Raichu was brought to a low HP after Vanilluxe got a 5 hit Icicle Spear off, and it fell soon after from Vaporeon's Quick Attack. Vanilluxe was paralyzed and at low health, so it fell soon after as well. From here on out, it was Ditto-chu, which had boosts in speed and special attack as well as a sub, Togekiss, which had Psych Up'd Ditto's boosts, and Vaporeon, which was kind of vulnerable. Togekiss' Extremespeed broke Ditto's Sub, but the contact move caused Static to activate. This allowed Ditto-chu to take out Vaporeon on turn 1 with a Thunderbolt and take out Togekiss on turn 2 with a super-charged Electro Ball. Good game!

    Zoned (Vanillish) vs. BlueTowel (Roselia)

Closer this time around! Roselia outsped and 2hko'd with Petal Dance, but Vanillish had a counter to that plan - Icy Wind! Icy Wind and an Ice Beam were strong enough to take down Rosie. Good game!

Maxie (Houndoom, Flareon, Serperior) vs. Synthesis (Weavile, Starmie, Volcarona)

    Start of this battle:
    goooo
    weavile, m, pressure

    Maxie the Smugleaf 10:38 am
Goo Houndoom M Early Bird !!!

    Synthesis 10:38 am
    =-O
    using type advanatges against me!

    Maxie the Smugleaf 10:39 am
    yup dark vs dark

    Hannah Warder 10:39 am
    lol

    Synthesis 10:39 am
    lmao

From there, it was basically punch for punch. Weavile managed to take out Houndoom first, however, and that basically sealed the deal for Syn. He was always one-up from Maxie, which allowed him to pick appropriate 'mons to take out Maxie's. There was a slight chance of an Attract-based comeback by the snake, but Volcarona powered through love and won. Good Game!

    Synthesis wins and gets $1000
    Maxie loses and gets $500
    I ref and gets $1500

Challenger Mlouden03 (Tyranitar, Gengar, Garchomp, ??????) vs. Vermilion Gym Leader Proto (Raichu, Luxray, Electivire, Jolteon)

Proto made one mistake with Raichu towards the beginning that was pretty difficult to come back from. Sand also netted an important KO, but overall Mlouden's mons simply overwhelmed the electrics. Good game!

Mlouden wins and gets the Thunder Badge, TM Thunder, and $3000
    Proto loses and gets $1500
    I ref and gets $2000

Challenger Elysia (Tyranitar, Chandelure, Serperior, Alakazam) vs. Vermilion Gym Leader Proto (Luxray, Rotom-Wash, Rotom-Heat, Eelektross)

Things were looking pretty even throughout most of the battle. Luxray, who was originally to take out Tyranitar, instead fell victim to Chandelure, which in turn fell against Rotom-Wash. Blow for blow until Alakazam vs. a Overheat-dropped Rotom-Heat. Alakazam took as long as possible to Sub, Calm Mind, and Recover stall Rotom-Wash into dying from Sand and LO-related events. By the time Eelektross had been switched in, Alakazam was more than capable of OHKOing the snake-lizard thing. Good game!

Elysia wins and gets the Thunder Badge, TM Thunder, and $3000
    Proto loses and gets $1500
