Challenger Ash K. (Blaziken, Lucario, Medicham, Archeops) vs. Goldenrod City Gym Leader Ataro (Diggersby, Pyroar, Ditto, Staraptor)

A very close game! Blaziken set up a bit and Baton Passed to Lucario, but then Focus Sash Rivalry Pyroar came in and narrowly avoided being KO'd by Bone Rush and took out the Mega-Luke. Blaziken came back in and finished Pyroar off with a Power-up Punch. Scarf Ditto hopped in briefly to finish Blaze with a Stone Edge, but that was forced out when Medicham came in and set up a sub. Diggersby took out the sub but fainted in the process, which allowed Staraptor to come in and threaten it out with Brave Bird. However, Archeops came in, and it was looking like Ash had it in the bag, but then Rock Slide missed. Ditto came in after Archeops had Roosted back to non-Defeatist health, but then Medicham swapped into the Dittocheops and proceeded to set up on its AncientPowers (which nabbed a rise, at one point). Before Medicham was KO'd, Ash Psych Up'd on the Ancient Power boosts, giving Medicham some insane power. When Medicham was going to finish off the Dittocheops and the rest of Ataro's team, Ataro forfeited. Good game!

Ash K. (Ampharos, Sigilyph, ??????) vs. Maxie (Ampharos, Flygon, Weavile)

Ampharos with Ampharosite v Ampharos with Ampharosite, Ash made some good plays by not Mega-evolving the first turn so that he would maintain respectable health and would outspeed the next turn to KO. Flygon came in and scared away Ash's Mega-Amphy into Sigilyph, which in turn made Weavile swap in. There was a lot of stalling and Snatching, Ash's Roosts putting Maxie in a tough situation - does Maxie snatch away the roost or does he simply attack? Ultimately though, Sigilyph was able to grab +2 Special Attack which allowed Flash Cannon to OHKO right after Sigilyph used Tailwind, and by this time, Sigi's Ice Beam was more than capable of OHKOing the Flygon. Good game!

Eelektross was just too hard to take down! When it got a Coil in, the accuracy boost allowed for a hefty Iron Tail to hit Sylveon and Dedenne on their fairy parts. Dedenne almost took down Eel once, but then Eelektross Rested and after a while, Dedenne had fallen as well. Good game!

Blaziken set up and was incredibly hard to take down after that. It was able to take out both Skarmory and Aegislash with little damage. Bronzong came in and survived a hit but wasn't able to KO in retaliation, leaving Blaziken at about 10% health. However, Bronzong was KO'd on the next turn, and Blaziken's Double Kick was narrowly able to avoid Aggron's Sturdy. Good game!

Challenger Synthesis (Whimsicott, Dugtrio, Electivire, ??????) vs. Sunyshore City Gym Leader SLC (Magnezone, Galvantula, Electrode, Jolteon)

Whimsicott baited in Magnezone, but a U-Turn into Sitrus Dugtrio with Arena Trap easily dispatched the magnet. Galvantula scared Dugtrio away with Giga Drain and Whimsicott came back in. Galvy swapped to Electrode to avoid the Encore, and then there was some stalling and LO recoiling until eventually Whimsicott was able to set up Seeds on Galvy and eventually KO with Moon Blast. When Jolteon came in, SLC's fate was sealed - the Thunder allowed Banded Motor Drive Electivire to switch in, which would OHKO the rest of SLC's lineup with EQ. Good game!

Randoms Ladder. Prince Vultan started out strong, Tricking a Flame Orb onto Swampert and snatching up its Lefties, but Swampert was Roaring things after it set up Stealth Rocks. Scolipede switched in after Ampharos confused Swamp and Amphy was promptly KO'd. Clefable was trying to pull some tricky maneuvers once more, but a lucky crit on Scolipede's Poison Tail took it out before it could be managed. Dusknoir managed to Burn Scolipede and slowly drag it down, but not before sustaining some serious injuries and a Toxic. Swampert came in once more to lower Dusknoir's speed and drag one more turn of Toxic onto the playing field, and shortly, Swamp too had fallen. Rhyperior came in, easily finished Dusknoir, and lived to face Carracosta nearly unscratched. Carracosta Shell Smashed, but Rhyperior, predicting this move, went for a Rock Polish. This allowed Rhyperior to outspeed and KO with Earthquake due to the defense drops. Good game!
