No need to post it here Rave, a curator will eventually claim it. We have a bit of a backlog right now though.

Please don't double post, or post anything that doesn't have to do with the art section and how to improve it. This thread isn't for specific people to come in and talk about their own artwork, it's to discuss the Art Section's rules and such.

Ahhhhh..... sorry for my lack of activity. I have and continue to have a severe family emergency, which has lead me to spend almost no time on myself. Just head up for y'all.... letting you know why I haven't been curating. Sorry stuff came up right after my "initiation." As soon as I get past this cloud, though, I'll get back to curating stuff. Thanks. for your understanding.

Say, if I do a really bang-up job on a piece that includes several different pokemon can I try to claim more than one at a time?

Specifically, I'm looking up what other pokemon might fit into a habitat with Clauncher on Bulbapedia-- I was thinking Dragalge & Skrelp would be a good match for the atmosphere I've got going on (also, all on Route 8!)

And if the answer is "yes", then do I need to beat score for both of them? As in, 55 for Clauncher, plus another 55 for Skrelp, for a total of 110 points in order to catch both? Or would each pokemon I want to capture be graded separately in the piece?

    [EDIT]
    Ah, nevermind.

Well, I ought to beat a Hard, at least!

    I gotta say

Your Trapinch and Gulpin pictures are cute. They're probably not "professional-looking" enough so I doubt you'll get them (which is dumb), but I think they're pretty ace.

Particularly, they have a load of "story" which some curators praise more than others so. If you keep getting graded poorly-- by which I mean, not-catches, not that the Curators are doing a poor job-- I have something that I think it would be cool to see you try: Write a short little story-- sort of like you did The Trapinch and the Bug-- and then draw out the whole thing, like a kids' picture book.

Because I think that your drawings are like they are, pretty much just because that you like to draw. WinterVines mentioned that you your colouring is iffy (though he said it better). I think that's more the style of a kid who is enjoying him-or-her-self and not worrying about grades. Having used coloured pencils myself (who hasn't?) I know it can be a pain in the butt to fully colour and shade everything in solidly, mostly 'cause it wears down the soft pencil lead really fast.

So my suggestion for you-- not that I came in here looking to give you advice, or that my advice is actually any good-- is to keep doing what you're doing. Do try to improve, but don't push yourself so far that it makes drawing not-fun. Because you'll get "better". As your tastes change and your skills develop (through practice), you'll naturally get closer to what the curators on URPG are grading for. If you keep drawing, and keep enjoying it.

But yeah, just wanted to pop in and say I like those two of your pics.

Can we still paint higher-evolved forms of Pokémon but aim for one of its lower-evolved forms? Like pass a Dragalge painting but aim (and be curated accordingly) for a Skrelp. Thought I'd ask, didn't see this mentioned in the other curator threads. : )

Agreed. I'll do the part where it deletes after 10 seconds.

The How to Make Pokeart thread has been updated with slightly more information regarding medium requirements (Modeling, Graphics).

A section about basic elements of art to keep in mind for artists has also been added. These are things that a lot of people forget about/haven't been exposed to yet, and Curators will keep them in mind when judging art, so check them out for some new or refresher tips.

The rule for being able to claim a lower-ranked evolution from a piece of art with the evolution/higher rank has also been officially listed. For example, if someone draws a piece for a Charizard but doesn't score high enough, the artist may claim a Charmander instead if the piece scores enough for Charmander's rank.

This is an idea I've had for some time now, but just never got around to posting it. Would it be alright to allow members to submit artwork depicting their interpretations of what a Mega Evolution / Pre-Evolution / Evolution would be for an existing Pokemon? It sounds messy, I know, but tbh we already allow people to make art of one evolutionary stage of Pokemon in order to capture another, so I dont see why this would be any different.

The "accuracy" portion of the curation would be replaced with creativity and believe-ability in this case. For example, obviously Magcargo would not Mega Evolve into a dolphin, but making it evolve into a bigger magma-slug would also be pretty uncreative without proper details. When a submission is made, you'd state which actual Pokemon you're going for, and the piece would be curated based on the corresponding difficulty.

I just think this would be a cool way to get them creative juices flowing! Maybe the idea is terrible, but I've thought of worse, I think!
