No, battling or capturing isn't necessary in a URPG story unless you want it to be part of the story. It's not required at all, and graders prefer that you get more creative when writing for your Pokemon. You could write a story telling about the life of a Caterpie and it would be fine. that's probably a bad example too.

But as long as the Pokemon you're capturing has significance in the story, it should be fine. It really depends on the rank of the Pokemon you're writing for too. A Magikarp could be mentioned once or twice, and you could capture it because it's of the Easiest rank. However, if you wanted to catch something of the Medium rank, you'd have to get the Pokemon you're trying to capture more involved in the plot of the story. If you wanted to write for a Volcarona, which is of the Stupefying rank, you'd have to write something pretty amazing in order to get it. It all depends on the rank and the Pokemon~

I would like to mention that 9 days have gone by, and CrazyLilChicken's charming story of young love and a Slowpoke, Snap, still has yet to be graded. I enjoyed reading this story, and I am sure that the writer would love for it to be graded as soon as possible.

My own story is still only 6 days old, so I will not complain. Yet........

Grading takes time, and it's up to the grader's discretion as to when they grade. It is admittedly sad when a story spends a long time going without a grade, but graders are people too! I'm sure that both your story and Crazy's will be claimed in time, but complaining about it in this thread doesn't raise awareness.

My apologies. I had noticed that this thread says that grades should not be asked for until at least seven days have gone by, and seeing as how Snap hasn't even been claimed after nine days, I thought I might just see if I could turn a bit of attention to it. I am sure that the grading process is long, arduous and deliberate, but claiming a story is not, and I know personally that waiting for a piece of work to be marked is a nerve-wracking ordeal, even if it is a for-fun thing like URPG. Now, I recognize that I am new here and do not understand the grading system, but would it not be reasonable to suggest that Snap at least gets claimed?

Again, I am sorry. "Complain" was admittedly a poor choice of words.

Grading is pretty hard, but most of it comes easy enough if the grader really likes the story, and is excited to do it. Well, at least, that's how it is for me. I really think it's sweet that you wanted someone to grade my story, but part of writing is waiting for the review. Sometimes there just isn't enough time for things to get done and asking for them faster can rush things and the person won't exactly get the best result. I really don't mind waiting because I know how hard grading can be. When the time comes, I know that someone will grade it, and I can wait for that time. Granted, it is nerve-wracking, and it does make me bite my nails knowing that someone is reading something I poured my thoughts, hard work, and sweat into, looking for errors and mistakes. But that's just the way it is. To be honest, my story is fairly long for just a Slowpoke, which happens to be a medium ranking Pokemon, so I can see why graders aren't rushing to snap it up, pardon the pun. I guess what I am trying to say is Rome wasn't built in one day. It took time to get the results, even if it did sort of fall apart at the end. If stories were claimed the exact day that they were posted and graded immediately, than no one would be used to waiting and such. Sometimes, it just takes a bit of patience, and everything will progress naturally. Again, your intentions are appreciated, but people are busy here. They have school and other things to attend to, and things take a bit longer than others expect.

As a side note, having your story claimed the first day it was posted is even scarier than nine or ten days later. It can mean it was so bad that someone just had to correct it, or so good that they just had to claim it and pick it to pieces out of excitement for the story. Have some patience. People weren't lying when they said it was a virtue. Your story will be graded in due time as well as mine. Sorry for the rant, I know I sound a bit redundant, but I wanted to get my point across, even if I did ramble. :p

I usually claim stories based on when they were posted, & I check all three forums before claiming something. If a story on PE2K has been sitting for 10 days without a grade & a story on BMGf has been waiting for 9 days, I'm gonna claim the one that's been waiting for 10 days rather than 9 days. It's more of a time thing for me than anything else. Whether or not I like the story makes no difference to me when claiming it, but for me, it's more so the amount of time.

I once had to wait three months for a grade on my Houndour, & then Emma came along and graded that one & another story I had written, both of which were on PWN. (Yay Emma! ♥) If we're gonna talk about stories that have been waiting a while for grades, there's one on PWN that I've just claimed that's been waiting nearly a month. Tbh, stories on BMGf get claimed way faster than the ones on PWN or PE2K, & that's because BMGf is the more active forum.

On an unrelated note, I'll probably do some grading next week because my first semester of college is almost over, & I don't want my brain to turn to total mush. & I want stuff to do. plus grader wages are cool & i've kinda been a crappy grader lately

Thank you all. Now I realize how dumb I was- darn my teenage impatience! I had never really thought that waiting for a grade could be a good thing, but I guess I should have known that, as a newbie URPG member, I could not possibly have known what a good waiting time between posting a story and getting it graded should be. I am sorry, I really put my foot in my mouth here. Thank you for enlightening me to the situation.

It's really not that big. Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone has to correct them. That's just life. Anyway, I am glad we all could help you out, as small as the matter was. Remember, patience is a virtue, one that you will need later on in life.

Nitro, I think it would be good for you to read the rest of this page. >_> (Unless that's sarcasm.)

Anyhow, I'm here because I have a question and nowhere to ask it, and this has...like...something to do with stories. What I'd like to do is have all of my stories in one thread. (When the count gets too numerous I would probably put links in the first post.) That way, I can easily access previous stories (since I plan on having them all continue a single plot line, which has already been fully planned out) without causing discrepancies and stuff. I would be allowed to do this, right?

Hello! Just a quick question- is it possible to change the name of a thread, and if so, how? I named a thread one thing and the story inside another, and I would love nothing more than to make the two match.
