ATF, I just wanted to thank you for the feedback you gave me on my capture story. Is there a way I could just write general stories about Mark's experiences in Saffron and the Kanto region? I ask because I want to tie up some of the loose ends you mentioned (like the explosion), and perhaps link Mark with some of the other trainers in Kanto.

 

By general stories do you mean ones not geared towards catching Mon? If so then yes, you're allowed to do whatever you like with your characters and such. Not everything posted here HAS to go for a Pokemon; in my story Monsters of the Machine I had 3 long chapters with no capture attempt at all, because they were focused on moving the story's plot along.

 

hey guys, I'm stuck with even starting my story.
I'v got a problem were I'm not very good at ether art or writing/story telling and I don't feel like I could produce anything that is up to standard for URPG.

I'm wondering if there are any good tutorials or people willing to give me feed back, or suggestions on how to begin something like this.

I have a story that is currently pushing the limit of what is acceptable to post on here, I kind of want to take it over that limit, is there any way I can have it graded and available to those over 18 but not below? It will also be insanely slow introducing pokemon, if I do end up deciding to go down that route (think 45-50k chars before the first mon mentioned).

 

Maybe you should be a bit more specific when you say "pushing the limit of what's acceptable" lol. As for making it available only to certain people, unfortunately there's no way the forum can filter people by age. A person determined to read the story would just create another account and put their profile page as 18 or older. The best you can do is put a disclaimer and list exactly why the story has it so people know up front what they're reading before even hitting the first sentence.

 

It's currently pushing the limit in the sexual and gender exploration themes contained within. If I were rating it, I might rate it PG now, bordering on M, but it will probably hit M or R later.

 

Hey, could you guys give me some feedback on this? I'm not sure if I should try for the Sewaddle I had planned for, or try to go something higher like a Medium. Introduction alone has almost taken up the amount needed for Sewaddle, at around 2,800 or so characters.

It was a simple day in the forest. Nobody really knew the name of the woodlands near the ranch of the Alibi family; it was always just there, with no true story behind it. The place was filled to the brim with flora and fauna of all kinds, making it an amazing place for exploration and adventure, as far as Alex Alibi was concerned. The boy, since the age of 6, had always quietly trampled through the vast grove, searching for pokemon that were just as adventurous as him. He was yet to find one in the 5 years he had been searching, although one day he knew that would change, and he could go on an adventure along side it. His brother, however, had a different opinion.

Lucas Alibi, as he is more commonly known by, did not favor his brother’s opinion in adventure and charging happily into battle, expecting everything to go his way. He found his brother a bit too optimistic, knowing that the world around them was harsh and not quite as happy as he may think. He was a beginning trainer, 18 years old, with only two pokemon to his name, Lara and Liam, a Grumpig and Pineco respectively. The two were more friendly to Alex than Lucas, but Lucas still cared for his brother quite a bit and was highly protective of him. Maybe that’s why he didn’t want him traveling. There are quite a few things that could happen to a boy traveling alone. But hey, I’m just an omnipotent narrator. What do I know?

The two boys were similar in appearance, with both having dirty blond hair and tanner skin than most from working with their parents on their ranch. Lucas was a bit more buff than his younger brother, Alex favoring a thinner build. Lucas had more of a square shaped head, with thicker features over all and Alex having an almond shaped head along side thinner features. Lucas wore tee shirts and his black jacket, usually with jeans and some sort of sneakers. Alex’s clothes were kiddish, although he clearly looked up to his brother in most regards wearing the same, minus the jacket.

In this particular instant, the two have been travelling through the aformentioned forest. Lara was springing along with the two, Liam motionlessly standing watch in Alex’s arms. The two were watching silently; Lucas was hoping to find another teammate to round out his team a bit. They were in need of a melee attacker; something good with close range attacks, at the very least. Alex was hoping for his own pokemon, but I’m sure we’ll get to that eventually. This will be a series, after all.

So, yeah. What would should I try for? Also, is there anything I could improve on?

 

The only thing I have to say is, don't use the length of your story as the basis for choosing which rank of Pokemon you're going to go for. You could be well over the recommended range and still not capture it; likewise, you could be just at the bare minimum or even under but still manage to capture it. Length really isn't the biggest issue/factor, I'd say. It still all goes back to your content - to the plot, characters, and details... Though I'm probably not the best person to ask, but I'd say for a first story (I assume it is your first - apologies if I'm wrong) it's not a bad start.

I was just going to post capture and battle chapters hear as that's all I thought that could be.

Might go make a thread hear so I don't have to keep post for feed back about completed chapters in this thread.
