Pretty even basics with Fenris pulling some fun Endure/Endeavor shenanigans to give himself a boost. Then Weir released the Original One upon Fenris and smote the Pokemon who remained.

Weir maintained control with a lot snazzy send tricks. Gliscor getting a free Poison Heal when it took Crobat's Cross-Poison didn't hurt him, either. The end of the battle was a lot of posturing - Whimsicott outmaneuvered and put in a clutch Stun Spore, allowing it to win an unlikely match against a Crobat.

Weir milked the broken combo that is "Fast Pokemon with Endeavor" for all it was worth, using Endeavor and priority moves to slam down on Xali's team. Snorlax took up the fight once Infernape could no longer go on and finished off. VeloJello/Katie rolled 99.

Weir played shenanigans whole Liam mostly played things straight. Shenanigans like Flash Fire Growlithe, Prankster Murkrow, and +4 ATK Simple Bidoof that allowed Weir to seize the win.

Challenger Xali (Eelektross, Spiritomb, Infernape, Lapras, Salamence, Metagross) vs Monsu Island Gym Leader weirlind120 (Krookodile, Sableye, Greninja (F), Greninja (M), Gengar, ???)

This was a really interesting battle - Xali was playing randoms against Weir's Gym. Eelektross and Metagross were Xali's MVPs; Greninja (F) was Weir's. Greninja got a Z-Happy Hour off and Xali's Spiritomb and Infernape didn't really have solutions to the problems that this posed. By the time Xali was able to bring out some better 'mons, send advantage and Stealth Rocks had battered him too much for him to make up the gap.

Weir defends and gets $5,500.
Xali loses and gets $2,500.

Fenris put up a good fight despite 2/3 of their team being NFEs. A Togekiss killed an Alolan Muk in this one. Improvise, adapt, overcome.

Setup nonsense made Gallade really useful and switching nonsense gave Rotom-Mow the drop on Fenris's team. Garchomp tried to Dragon Tail out a Magnet Rised Jolteon, who got replaced by... Cloyster. Coffin, nail.

A big ol' time gap made me forget the first half of this randoms battle. Things were fairly even, then Durant came in and got set up, Baton Passing its boosts to Lucario so that those two could clean up.

Xali and Weir had some humorous send mirrors. There were also some humorous dice mixups that caused a lot of abnormal secondary effects to go off. Weir's Jolteon did a whole big setup that Kingdra utterly wrecked, but Weir was undeterred.

TIL about recoil and how it affects victory. Feebas didn't get to do much, but Mareanie delivered decent damage to Houndour and allowed Growlithe to pull out the win.
