    Shit, I was late.

I was on my way to the National Park - I was going to take place in a special, festive event being hosted by the Park. I was definitely excited for the event. While I could not capture Pokemon during this special run, I figured that not only would this be a fun event nonetheless, but I also stood to benefit from taking place in the event in more than one way.

However, I was running a bit late.

"Come on, Dragonite! We're late, can you go a bit faster please?" I called to my Pokemon. I was riding on my Dragonite's back, and we were zooming through the sky towards our destination, the Park.

"Dragonite!" she responded, and she put on a burst of speed.

Within five minutes, we landed in front of some caves. This was where I was supposed to meet up with my Ranger.

    There she was.

"Welcome to the docks, Trainer. The Caves lie before you. Are you and your partners ready?"

"Yeah, let's go. My name's Isaac Booth, by the way." I said.

The entrance to the Caves was to the north. That meant we would be going that way.

Together, my Ranger and I entered the Caves. We had entered a room - stalactities and stalagmites dotted the area, and there was an exit to the north - directly opposite me. I was about take a step forward, but I was stopped almost immediately by a twinkling trill.

    "Jirachi!"

I gasped. The legendary Pokemon Wish Pokemon gracefully glided into the middle of the room - it had been hiding behind a stalagmite. She was a small, silver Pokemon with a large yellow headdress. On the headdress were three teal 'wish tags' - tags that, if bestowed upon one by Jirachi, would grant any wish. I was sorely tempted by the lure of these wish tags, but I restrained myself - forcefully taking a wish tag from Jirachi would render the wish tag useless as one had to be gifted the tag by Jirachi.

    "Jirachi!" the Pokemon cried again.

"Looks like I'll have to battle it," I muttered, grabbing the first Pokeball off my belt. "Let's go, Dragonite!"

My orange Dragon appeared. Roaring loudly, Dragonite stomped her feet on the ground and wagged her tail enthusiastically - she was excited to get this event started, as was I.

"Well, time's ticking! Let's see how much damage we can do to Jirachi right off the bat with Flamethrower!" I called.

Dragonite nodded her head, and blew out a stream of flames at Jirachi. The wild surge of flames rushed madly towards Jirachi, and I waited to see how my legendary adversary would respond.

You call out your female Dragonite, and quickly command for a Flamethrower. She acknowledges the order, releasing a twisting blast of fiery flames from her mouth. The blazes envelop their target, scorching it fully. The inferno only covered the legendary creature for a moment, before it lashed back out with an attack of its own.

Its eyes were glowing with Psychic-energy, the mystical aura soon surrounding your partner. Soon, she is glimmering in the same power, too, which has already taken control of her. As the Steel-Psychic-type concentrates, it slams the Dragon Pokemon against the walls of the cave. It tosses her about, causing her to come into contact with the stalagmites around you.

This continued on for a moment, but fortunately, your friend did not take as much damage as she should have for her Multiscale Ability had activated. Furthermore, the Scarecrow Mask you had in your possession (I won't even say you're wearing it :p) had helped restore a portion of her health. Now, as you take a look at the situation, it seemed as though you Dragon-Flying-type barely got assaulted at all.

My Dragonite's Flamethrower engulfed Jirachi. I could hear the Steel Pokemon's cries of pain, and as guilty as I felt, that was a good thing.

However, Jirachi quickly bounced back. Its eyes suddenly started glowing blue, and a blue aura of the same hue shimmered into reality around Dragonite. This was the Psychic attack, and I watched helplessly as the much smaller Jirachi tossed my Dragonite into the cave walls with the attack. The stalagmites scratched and slammed into her body, leaving cuts, scrapes and bruises.

"Dragonite, are you okay?" I called. From what I could see, Dragonite seemed to have taken very little damage from the move. Its ability, Multiscale, and the Scarecrow Mask in my possession had both activated, resulting in what seemed to be a very small HP loss.

    Dragonite nodded, confirming my thoughts.

"Alright, let's switch to a physical attack. Dragonite, use Fire Punch!" I ordered.

Dragonite nodded again, and her right fist suddenly burst into flames. She charged towards Jirachi, her flaming fist ready to strike the wishmaker.

My Dragonite's Fire Punch knocked out Jirachi. The legendary Pokemon fell ungracefully to the ground, making a thud as her large headdress hit the ground. I was sorely tempted to take one of the wish tags right now, but I decided against it - there would be repercussions for me, and it just wouldn't be right.

Instead, I recalled Dragonite to her Pokeball.

"You did a good job, Dragonite!" I called to my faithful Dragon.

She roared in pride as she was sucked into her Pokeball. I set the Pokeball back on my belt, and looked up.

    It was time to continue.

There was an exit to the north - the only exit available not counting the entrance to the south. I walked through the north exit.

You walk onwards, ready to pass through the only possible exit - the one heading to the north. The damaged Jirachi stops you, however, and floats forward. It held out a Deformed Pumpkin as a recognition of its defeat and your victory. You accept the gift, and with a humble nod, the legendary retreated into the shadows and soon disappeared from sight.

You cross into the next room, encountering another wild creature. This time, a Venipede.

As I walked towards the exit, Jirachi floated back up into the air. It came up to me, and offered me a Deformed Pumpkin seemingly as my reward for defeating it. I accepted the item with a thanks, and watched the Jirachi disappear into the shadows.

I continued forth. As I entered the next room in the Caves, I heard a small growl.

    "Venipede!"

    Oh boy. Another Pokemon battle.

A Venipede crawled out of the shadows. It was a small, bulbous larvae-like Pokemon. It was mostly magenta-coloured, but had a green abdomen.

    "Venipede!" the Pokemon growled again.

Venipede was a Bug/Poison-type Pokemon. That meant the best Pokemon to deal with it would be my Infernape.

"Let's go, Infernape!" I hollered, tossing the ape's Pokeball. Infernape leapt into existance, and jumped around excitedly. He was eager to battle.

"Start off with a Fake Out, then use a quick Fire Punch!" I commanded.

The idea here was that Infernape would use Fake Out, a move that caused the opponent to flinch, and then cash in on the opportunity with a super-effective Fire Punch. Given that Venipede was a weak, unevolved Pokemon, I figured this combo should be enough to put Venipede without KO range swiftly.

You summon your Infernape, who makes quick work of the opponent upon your command. Fake Out plus Fire Punch combo equals one very unconscious Venipede. Your partner has knocked it out cold, allowing you to continue onwards.

Upon hearing my command, Infernape barked. He zoomed towards Venipede, and quickly jabbed it with his palm - the Fake Out move. Venipede cringed, unprepared for Infernape's speedy attack.

Then, Infernape followed it up with a Fire Punch. Flames suddenly erupted into existance around Infernape's right fist, and he slammed the burning fist into Venipede's flank. The Bug/Poison-type Pokemon was knocked away by the punch, and there was a slightly burnt bruise where the Venipede had been hit.

A few moments passed. Venipede did not get back up.

It seemed the combination of moves had done much more than I had hoped. Venipede was Knocked Out, and I could continue forth.

"Great job, Infernape!" I called to my Pokemon, returning him to his Pokeball.

Like in the last couple of rooms, there was an exit to the north. I went that way.

You walk northwards, for that was the only possible option. You meet your next opponent, a Water-type having a vague resemblance to a weasel. Buizel, was what the species was known as.

As I walked into this room, the first thing I noticed was that this room was different. Instead of having only one exit to the north, this one had two exits, one in the east and one in the west.

However, to advance it seemed as though I would have to defeat the Pokemon that had just appeared in front of me - Buizel.

"Buizel!" it cried enthusiastically. The orange beaver stood on its hind legs and waved its long tail energetically - much like a fan. There were three distinguishing black whisker-like marks on both of its cheeks.

"Alright... Buizel is a Water-type Pokemon. The best Pokemon to deal with this would probably be Venusaur, so let's go Venusaur!" I tossed Venusaur's Pokeball in front of me.

The large green dinosaur exploded into view, and shook her back much like a dog would to shake off water. The distinctive pink flower growing on her back wobbled.

"Let's start off with Seed Bomb and see how much damage that does," I said.

Venusaur nodded, and closed her eyes in concentration. A large, brown seed was expelled forcefully from the golden center of the flower on her back. It flew towards Buizel, and the Pokemon's eyes widened.

You call out your mighty Venusaur. Immediately, the Water-type seems to back down for her size and shape was rather intimidating. It thought of the only possible option, as the Grass-Poison-type powered up to perform the attack, it zipped forward, looking to inflict some amount of damage. At its speed, it left a trail of white chrome behind. Next thing you knew, the Buizel had slammed straight into your Pokemon. She reacted quickly though, releasing the glowing oval-shaped orbs at the opponent. The seeds dropped onto it like a bomb, taking out a massive chunk of its health.

You had two options. Where would you like to go? (And, yes, Scarecrow Mask heals and whatnot)

As my Venusaur prepared her Seed Bomb, Buizel immediately jetted towards it. Clearly, the Pokemon was planning to at least land a hit before being taken out.

Buizel's Aqua Jet landed. The orange weasel Pokemon tackled Venusaur, hitting her flank. However, the move only appeared to do minimal damage. Venusaur's Seed Bomb then connected. The large seed hit Buizel head-on, and the Water-type Pokemon was quickly defeated.

"Great job, Venusaur!" I called, smiling. I returned the Pokemon to her Pokeball, and then looked up.

This room, unlike the others, had two exits. One to the west, and one to the east. I thought about it for a moment, then shrugged and turned to the right. There really were no clues telling me which direction would be the best one. I could've just flipped a coin to decide, but I figured that was unnecessary and continued through the eastern exit.

You choose to go east, as you did not have a single clue as to which path would lead you to the exit. The room had yet another obstacle. It was a common Pokemon, a Starly.

    What...? lol

IC: I walked through the eastern exit. This room, like all the other rooms, contained a Pokemon.

"Starly!" the Pokemon cried. The black-and-white starling looked at me, and there was an evident desire to battle in its eyes. However, Starly were, for the most part, weak Pokemon. I suspected I would have no trouble with it.

"Let's go, Infernape!" I tossed the Pokeball of my Infernape. The flaming ape appeared again, and screeched loudly, beating his chest. "Let's try to end it quickly again. Use Fake Out, and then ThunderPunch!"

It was almost the same combination of moves I had used to take out the Venipede earlier; only this time, the Electric-type counterpart of Fire Punch was used rather than Fire Punch itself to capitalize on Starly's type disadvantages. If it was able to defeat Venipede, I suspected it would be able to defeat Starly, a Pokemon of equal strength, just as easily.

Infernape commenced the attack, immediately zipping towards Starly. I waited to see how this would turn out.

OOC: You entered from the west, and in this new room, there is an exit going east or back west.

Infernape causes the Starly to flinch by using the move Fake Out. Then, quickly, he charges up his arm with electricity. He delivers a rapid punch to the opponent's body, sending it flying. You receive a Scarecrow Straw.

Infernape zipped up to the Starly and slapped it in the face with his left hand. The Starly cringed, clearly surprised and unprepared for the attack. Infernape then completed the combo by charging up his right fist with electric power and slamming it into the Starly's chest. The Flying Pokemon was knocked into a corner of the cavern from the impact of the super-effective blow, and landed out of sight behind some stalagmites.

"A great job again, Infernape," I said, smiling affectionately as I returned the Pokemon to his Pokeball.

A Scarecrow Straw was on the ground in front of me where Starly had been before Infernape had taken him out. I bent down and pocketed the Scarecrow Straw.

Now, it was time to advance.

There was an exit to the East as well as one to the West behind me, which I had entered from. To me, it seemed counterproductive to return through the Western exit, so I walked towards the exit to the East.
