(OOC: Basically all you have to do is role play like normal [although, slightly lower quality is okay, as we're going for speed], and make sure you choose a direction in each post. That part doesn't have to be role played, and neither does things like healing, etc. Any questions, let me know.)

OOC: Using one use of my Crystal Ball asap, please.

I stood on the Docks nervously, rocking to and fro on my feet. My mind was drifting through the recent past. I had been at the family farm when James, my elder brother, had called me and asked for my help. There'd been a disaster at the Park and some new area had been discovered. Of course, he wanted to go help investigate it, but as an Elite he'd been bogged down with paperwork and committee meetings. So, he'd asked me to go in his stead. While I was honoured that he kept me in such high standing, it was a bit intimidating. Especially intimidating was the woman that seemed to spend a lot of time with James - while everyone said she was nice, she scared the hell out of me.

At my side was my old friend, Dual the Gallade. He was my Starter Pokemon and my most powerful partner ever, but the life of a breeder hadn't appealed to him, so he spent most of his time with James, protecting the Park. Whenever I dropped by, however, he spent the entire time with me. It felt more like he was a protector than a friend, but that was okay. As long as he was with me.

Floating in the water in front of me was Smash, James' Starter. The caves he wanted me to check out had an underwater entrance, and seeing as I didn't have any aquatic Pokemon he had lent the Swampert to me. I felt much safer with him around - it felt almost like my big brother was here.

I decided it was time. I recalled Dual to his PokeBall and jumped onto Smash's back. The Halloween Mask that doubled as an air filter was firmly secured on my face, and I tapped the giant Swampert to let him know I was ready. He gurgled happily and swam forward before diving underwater. The shock of the cold liquid made me tingle, but I tried not to think about it - instead, I looked ahead for the cave entrance, trying to pierce the murky depths.

The craggy fissure wasn't too far out, perhaps two minutes or so of Smash's powerful legs and arms driving through the water. We moved straight into the blackness before swimming up. The Swampert broke the water's top followed quickly by myself. I could barely see anything - thank Arceus the mask had some amount of night-vision built in. Smash climbed onto dry land and I dismounted, taking a quick look around. The cave seemed mostly empty, except for a white seed of some kind on the ground. I shrugged and pocketed it.

As soon as the strange object was secured, the Crystal Ball James had sent me flared up, and a beam of light flew down the passageway leading further into the caves. I tried to follow it with my eyes but the murkiness meant it disappeared from view. At least the orb continued to glow softly, and it exuded a slight warmth. Considering my clothes were sopping wet and I was freezing cold, any bit of warmth was greatly appreciated. I hugged the Ball against my chest and moved towards the passage, Smash following me dutifully.

    (OOC: Going West.)

After stumbling through a few passageways, I arrived in another largish room. It split off into three directions, and I had no idea what to do. The warmth was slowly leaving the Crystal Ball, but I wasn't ready to put it away just yet. Smash was quiet at my side - it wouldn't surprise me if he was a bit claustrophobic.

"You wanna go back in the ball?" I asked him.

Smash looked around furtively and then nodded. I gave him a smile (even if it was somewhat shaky) and returned him to his ball. The room was lit up by the red laser, but there was nothing in this one. I shrugged - I had no idea what the small seed was. I'd never seen anything like it before.

This wasn't the time to think about that, though. I just had to push on and see what else was hiding in these caves. I decided the best thing to do was to keep going in a straight line, so I walked down the corridor that was opposite the way I had come.

The last of the heat given off by the Crystal Ball left me. I decided to put the esoteric artifact back into my backpack - save me the trouble of carrying it. I didn't even need the soft light that the orb gave off - there was a low amount of ambient light and the mask had built-in night vision. The mask was actually pretty high-tech - obviously someone with a bad sense of humour had decided to warp it aesthetically.

I was about to walk around a bend in path when a large spider dropped down from the ceiling. It was mostly purple, although its long spindly legs were lilac and yellow and it had a piercingly white horn on its forehead. I recognised it as an Ariados, and I shuddered. I hated insects. Luckily, I had just to Pokemon to deal with this nuisance. He was one of my newest successful evolutions, and he was only second in power to Dual. I threw a shiny red-and-white PokeBall towards the Ariados and my Bisharp exploded out in a flash of bright light.

"Alright Koma, let's make this quick," I called out in my high-pitched voice. "Use Rock Polish so you have the edge on it speed-wise, and then crush it with a Stone Edge!"

Koma began to glow bright white, lighting up the tunnel. It looked much like I expected it - rough and pitted, pure rock with a few veins of dirt here and there. At least it was mostly dry, and Koma's Rock Polish would continue to keep the battlefield lit up.

Once the Bisharp had finished purifying the imperfections in his red armour and removing the thin layer of dirt that slowed him down, he smashed his white gauntlet into the stony wall beside him. When he pulled his arm back, the gauntlet was entirely surrounded by stone, and a long spike of rock pointing outwards from his wrist promised a bad time for the Ariados. Dual pointed the Stone Edge at the Bug-type and pushed off towards it, becoming a blur of white light.

(OOC: Apparently I need to say that I'm going north (assuming the Ariados dies) because Jathan is stupid and doesn't know how to follow a path.)

The pointy stone blade sent the Ariados flying. Koma yelled a battle-cry and jumped after the Ariados again. However, the Bug-type jumped off a wall and collided with my Bisharp, knocking both of them to the ground. The Ariados located a small gap in Koma’s armour, near his shoulder, and bit my Pokemon through his yellow skin. Koma grunted and pushed the Ariados off, but small green orbs leeched through his skin and flew over to the Wild Pokemon. Obviously it had just used some kind of health-absorbing move. Well, the best way to get past that was to hit it hard and fast.

“Good job, Koma!” I called now. “Now try to finish it off with a Psycho Cut and Metal Claw!”

Koma got to his feet, and his Stone Edge gauntlet crumbled into many tiny pieces as he did so. He held his parallel to his thighs. Silver light began to play around his left gauntlet, and purple lines of energy spun around his right one. The Metal Claw manifested completely as a glowing silver extension of his gauntlet – except it four claws instead of his normal three fingers, and it was twice his the size of his hand. The Psycho Cut on the other hand looked much like Dual’s, which was fitting, seeing as the Gallade had been the one to tutor Koma in the move’s use. Purple energy flowed back and along the small white blade on the rear of his gauntlet, extending it and reminding me heavily of Dual’s arm-blades.

Koma dashed towards the Ariados again, and as he did so he flung his right arm forward. The purple energy detached and formed into a disk, which buzzed towards the Ariados, spinning around erratically on an unpredictable flight pattern. He then drew back his Metal Claw attack, preparing to smash it into the Ariados with extreme force.

    (OOC: Going West.)

The disk collided with the Ariados, and the Pokemon keened in pain as the disk shattered into many tiny purple fragments. Koma then drew his Metal Claw attack back even further before smashing it into his opponent like a hammer. The Ariados squealed and scuttled away, through a hole in the ceiling I hadn't seen previously.

"Great job, Koma!" I called out happily. He looked at me and nodded simply as his Rock Polish light began to dim. It didn't look like he had even a single scratch on him. His training had paid off well indeed. I decided to keep him out, though - the ambient light he gave off was infinitely preferable to the mask's low-quality night vision.

I almost tripped over a broom as we continued on. I picked it up and scratched my head. What the hell was a broom doing down here? I shrugged and picked it up - thank Arceus it was one of those new collapsible ones. The stock folded into itself and I stowed it away in my backpack. I figured maybe some of this stuff James would want to look at. As I swung my bag back over my shoulders, I realised that there were some side tunnels I could go down. They didn't look as big as this one, though, so I decided to just keep on going straight.

We kept on moving through the cave network. I could hear some strange noises ahead, growling and scuffling. I was considering turning back when Koma shifted into his battle stance. I looked ahead to try and see what monstrosity was our next challenge.

It was a small green dog.

"Why hey there boy, what are you doing down here?" I asked him in my friendliest voice.

The dog growled at me and Koma pulled me backwards. A thin dart of electricity passed through the area I my chest had been not two seconds ago. Before I knew what was going on, the Electrike jumped backwards and launched a real attack. A blue sphere of electricity expanded outwards towards us. Fortunately, I knew exactly what to do.

"Koma, Sucker Punch, quick!" I called. "Follow up with Slash!"

Koma's ambient light faded completely, and he disappeared from view as he twirled around, preparing to dart towards the Electrike. I wasn't worried about not being able to see him though - when he fired off his Slash attack his gauntlets would be glowing bright white. I backed off and hid behind a pointy rock on the ground - I certainly didn't want to be struck by the Electrike's Discharge.

(OOC: Assuming it dies, West plz.)

I saw part of the electric sphere collapse and I knew that was where Koma had made his move. A second later the Electrike yowled and was sent flying. I heard a thunderous discharge and a bright white light blasted towards the little dog. Koma's determined face was revealed by the light as the Slash pushed the Electrike away into a wall. The Electric-type was nothing if not resilient, though - it immediately got back onto its feet. It barked at us before beginning to charge a large electrical attack.

My instant reaction to this was to return Koma and bring out Smash to absorb the attack. However, I knew my Bisharp wouldn't take kindly to being pulled out of battle like that. He wanted to start whatever he finished, and I could understand that. I wasn't going to return him if he wanted to keep going. Besides, we had a trick up our sleeves.

"Koma, grab onto the ground with Metal Claw! That should shave off some of the damage from this attack," I called out from behind my rock. "Then, hit it with Assurance!"

Koma's white gauntlets both started to glow silver, and he crouched low so that he could place both his palms on the ground. He stared at the Electrike calmly, waiting for it to unleash his attack so that he could respond. I didn't often use Assurance, but it worked well in this scenario - if the Bisharp took any damage from the attack (which he probably would) his Assurance would be that much more powerful.

    (OOC: Going South.)

The Thunder attack blasted towards Koma, but the majority of it passed into the ground through his hands. He stood up fully, and the energy fields around his gauntlets changed from cheery silver to darkest black in an instant. The glove-like Assurance fields expanded as Koma moved swiftly towards his opponent. He thrust his palms into its chest, and the Electrike was thrown backwards again. It yelped and ran past me down the tunnel we had come from. I was glad I hadn't needed to knock it out.

"Great job Koma, you could use a rest," I said. I pulled out his PokeBall and returned him. He'd done great, but there was no doubt in my mind that I'd need him again, so he'd best be refreshed for when that happened.

I found a packet of candy corn lying around on the ground. A small bit of spittle gathered between my lips - I wanted to eat it pretty badly. Still, that wouldn't have been sanitary - who knows what was in it, or even where it had come from? I picked the small packet up and stowed it in a lower pocket of my pants before moving on.

I heard a small trickling sound of running water before long. I emerged in a large room with a small stream running down a slope into a dark hole. I smiled - water flowed downwards, so if I followed it to its source there was a good chance I could find a way out of these caves! I jumped across to the stream's banks and followed it, hoping that the exit wasn't far off.

I followed the small river, feeling confident. However, I was wrong to be. I soon found myself at a dead end - the river was stemming from a small waterfall, and there were next to no handholds on the cliff face. I'd have to turn back. I muttered angrily and started to do so when I heard a flapping sound. I turned around to see a small black and white bird perched on top of the cliff face. It screeched at me, semi-dislodging the red feather above its eyes. I grinned - I'd brought the perfect Pokemon to deal with this Rufflet.

I held out a red-and-blue Great Ball, and my Jolteon was revealed in a flash of white light. He jumped around and licked my face before standing in front of me, ready to battle. I'd nicknamed him after one of my favourite characters in a video game I played in my spare time, because both of them were very powerful.

"Cole, your opponent is the bird on top of the waterfall," I said to him. "Hit it with a nice hard Thunder. Use the river to conduct and aim the attack."

Cole began to growl and yellow sparks leaked out of his spiky coat, falling onto the ground and jumping towards the river. I usually didn't like using Thunder - the move was notoriously inaccurate, except when in rain. And while this wasn't rain by any stretch of the imagination, the Rufflet wasn't too far from the stream, and I figured there'd be so much electricity that some would be bound to zap the little bird.

The electric sparks began to increase in amount, and then suddenly a huge coursing stream of electricity jump towards the little river. I saw Cole's eyes close in concentration - he'd need it to direct the huge attack remotely.
