“Ugh,” Sec sputtered as he pulled at the tight collar of his parka.

Atop a large mountain like Mt.Oktori there was no choice but to wear a large jacket to keep warm; Sec however, was more used to lighter clothing and despised the puffy garment. Sec’s Weavile stood close by him, elping him to climb the mountain. The icy weasel Pokemon was used to the chilly temperatures and required no extra protection from the extreme temperatures.

“What’s the matter?” Weavile asked Sec telepathically, a skill that they had developed over many years of training together.

“It’s this stupid jacket,” Sec replied, “Its hot, itchy, tight, and makes me look like a burnt marshmallow!”

“Why would you even take an assignment out here if you knew you weren’t going to like the conditions?” The Weavile replied with a snap. “To be honest,” it continued,” I don’t see the problem with it out here.”

As Weavile said this it dove head first into a pile of snow and barrel rolled back and forth vigorously, making sure to cover every drop of its body with snow. The dark animal stood back up and shook off its fur, send a bit of the snow flying and splattering Sec directly in the face. Sec shot the creature an angry face before the couple began moving again.

Before long the duo began to see a small figure out in the middle of the snow. It was hard to make it out through the flurries, but Sec could only assume that it was his assigned trainer, Jay. Upon finally reaching the trainer, Sec figured the best way to start the expedition would be with an introduction.

“Hi! I’m Sec,” he chattered through his shivering, “I’ll be escorting you across this snowy mountain!”

Jay shuffled through the packed-in snow. The journey was taking far longer than he had hailed for and the mountain was much colder. He gave a little shiver as a light, cool breeze swept by. Jay pulled his hands out and blew on his frozen fingers. His fingertips had a slight purple colour to them. The warm blast of air helped greatly, but he felt the snow creep in. He shoved his hands into his almost empty pockets afterwards.

Inside his pocket, his right hand clutched on tight to a warm Pokeball. This ball contained his Clefable and was his first Pokemon he had ever seen. He pulled out the ball and three it in to the air. A red beam of light shot out and a Clefable materialised moments later in front of him. It had a big dopey grin plastered onto his face.

"Aren't you c-c-cold," Jay said through chattering teeth.

    It shook it's head vigorously.

"Oh yeah, you're Magic Gaurd ability blocks off all of the cold," Jay grunted.

The two trudged onwards up the mountain side until they saw two figures up ahead. The taller one didn't seemto be doing much, but the smaller one was rolling around in the snow. The taller was probably his ranger, and the smaller his Pokemon. Presumably an Ice Type.

It looked as though the ranger hadn't noticed the two yet. Jay had a plan. He ducked down onto the snow and lay motionless.

"Alright, Clefable. Pretend to be me,"

The snow would be hard to see through and this plan might actually work. The Clefable tottered forwardsas told, and surely enough the person ahead shouted over.

"I’m Sec,” he chattered through his shivering, “I’ll be escorting you across this snowy mountain!” th ranger called out.

Jay crouched up behind Clefable and pinched Clefable. Clefable knew this signalled for it to open it's mouth. As the Clefable opened his mouth Jay spoke in his own voice.

"Hello, there. You must be our ranger. I forgot to mention in my application that I sent off that I was diagnosed with Pokesyndrome, which has progressed... immensely. I... er now am a Pokemon," Jay said, fighting back floods of laughter.

Clefable, followed by Jay, continued walking through the harsh snow until it was standing oinly a few feet away from their ranger, Sec.

"Before I forget. I brought along a PokePlayer and two Sneasel voice disks, which I plan on using. The next part was rather tricky. Clefable turned around and started to fumble with something. She returned with a small tape recorder and placed one of the two discs inside. Jay peered at the Weaville from behind Clefable and longed for one desperately. As Clefable bent down to push the play button Jay became visible behind Clefable for a few seconds. As soon as he realsied he ducked down.

A metallic voice echoed out from the Pokeplayer. Jay had never seen or heard a Sneasel before so listening to the cry was a big thing for him. The voice carried on down the mountain, as though it was searching for a Sneasel.

    OOC: Hope that's ok.

    OOC: I laughed, you're very creative :3

Sec was honestly shocked when the Clefable began talking. He had never heard of this disease, Pokesyndrome, before and its affects were completely baffling. Who would have thought; a disease which turned you into a Pokemon! Sec was thinking just that until the Clefable bent down to press the button on its Pokeplayer and a bit of cloth, like that of a jacket, became visible as it lowered behind the fairy Pokemon.

Sec giggled to himself for a moment as he realized what was going on and then giggled once again once he realized he had been gullible enough to fall for it. He decided then that he would have a little bit of fun with the trainer, as the trainer had with him.

“It’s kind of sad…” he began, “I lost a dear friend because of Pokesyndrome once… He became a Tropius and one day while we took a stroll through the Plains of Fortree he was shot by a poacher who had taken him for a real Tropius. Apparently their leaves are rare and Tropius are native to the area.”

A fake tear rolled down Sec’s face as he tolled the sad story, attempting to put the trainer on a guilt trip for playing the practical joke. Sec was roaring with laughter within his own head as he thought of the reaction the trainer had to be having at the moment.

“It’s…Well…” Sec pretended to choke up and another fake tear fell as he turned away from the Clefable and hiding trainer, “this is all too much, I’m sorry for your condition, but it just brings back too many bad memories. I’ll have another ranger sent up the mountain for you but I’m afraid I just can’t do this!”

Sec took tree steps away and snickered as he waited for the trainer’s call, the “Wait!” and the pounce from behind the Clefable that would unveil the trainer’s trick. Sec waited as he very slowly began to walk from the trainer, grinning all the way.

"It's kind of sad…” Sec began, “I lost a dear friend because of Pokesyndrome once," he added with a hint of sadness.

"Huh? Um, yeah oh yeah. Yeah it claims almost three lives each year. Quite unusual that you knew someone who died from the disease..." Jay trailed off regretting everything even more by the second.

Jay cringed slightly behind his idle Pokemon who was gazing up at the sky vacantly.

"Perhaps this wasn't such a good idea," Jay mumble into the Clefable's ear. Clefable shuffled his feet nervously in agreement.

"Oh my!" Jay squeeled in shock. What had he got himself into? Surely this disease couldn't possibly exist...

Jay watched a big, fat tear roll down Sec's face. Jay watched in silent horror. He should really confess, but maybe this is a joke... Yeah... that could be it. Although those tears seemed awfully realistic and he had already gotten off to a bad enough first impression with his new ranger.

"This is all too much, I’m sorry for your condition, but it just brings back too many bad memories. I’ll have another ranger sent up the mountain for you but I’m afraid I just can’t do this!”

"No!" Jay erupted as he leapt out from behind his Clefable. "I'm sorry, it was all a joke. Honestly, it was!"

Sec turned around with a massive grin covering his face. Jay realised then that Sec had known all along.

"Or am I?" Jay muttered mysteriously. "Perhaps I made a... miraculous recovery. Yeah, that's it!"

"Anyway," Jaysaid strolling over. "Glad to meet you," he said, extending his arm to shake. "I'm Jay, as you probably already know," he shrugged. "Can't wait to catch me some Pokemon!"

I sat in the office and perused by bag for Pokemon. I really wanted to take either my Tyranitar or Torterra, but both of those choices had an extreme disadvantage on Mt. Oktori. I pulled out Poke Ball after Poke Ball, considering them before deciding against them.

I really needed some Pokemon. Suddenly, I remembered something and laughed. Shandera.

I walked over to the drawer where ghost type Pokemon owned by the park were kept and pulled out a darkly colored PokeBall after rummaging a bit. Shandera was perfect. It, like all of the park Pokemon had been generously TMed and caught by master trainers. I was really excited to use this pokemon.

I slipped on my under-armor and put on a large jacket with a hood and stepped outside, locking the door after me. The outside was cold and dreary. Very foggy, the air made my face wet just by stepping into it.

I saw a figure approach and prepared to greet the trainer.

Jay peered to through the dense fog. He couldn't remember what happened, but the fog seemed to make even the straight, narrow path impossibly complex. He knew that the ranger outpost was somewhere around here, but the question was where exactly? It would have been a lot easier if he hadn't dropped his map down the gorge earlier. Yes, a gorge. Of all places! He brought his hands out of his pocket and blew a blast of hot breath onto his gloved finger tips. He watched the steam surge around his fingers and vanish, bringing the warmth with it.

"This fog is ridiculous," he murmured to himself. "Magnezone, help me out here," Jay said as he threw a Pokeball into the murky, mountain top. There was a bright flash of red light and a whizzing sound as it's pokeball flew back into Jay's hand.

"Zone," it chimed, eager to be in the National Park. "Mag, mag, zone!" he chanted.

"Good to see you too, Magz! Now, use your Flash Cannon to provide some light!" Jay roared.

Magnezone rose a little higher in the air and began to shake suddenly, it's metallic body started to glow an eery blue colour and then it shot out a beam of light, that stretched a far as Jay could see. The light momentarily illumination the mountain. And, as the flash of light faded, Jay just made out the shape of a wooden hut up ahead.

"There it is," Jay pointed out. "C'mon Magz, we've got to meet our ranger now," he smiled, before sprinting up the hill.

"Hello, is anyone there?" Jay called out when he was a fee feet away from the large cabin.

The figure stopped moving and then released a Pokemon.

What are they doing? I thought to myself reaching for Shandera’s Pokeball just in case, it wasn’t the trainer.

Suddenly there was a huge Flash that emanated from the Pokemon and radiated energy outward. Running I released Shandera and ran towards the figure. Shandera was floating alongside me ready, as ever, for a valiant battle.

But Right as I reached the Pokemon, a Magnezone, I noticed that the figure had been knocked to the ground from being so close to the pulse. I recognized Jay, my trainer, from the picture in his submission form. I raised a calming hand to Shandera and she floated to a stop. I helped Jay up shaking my head and said,

“You shouldn’t just fire off a Flash Cannon like that. You damaged the park. Luckily, it wasn’t too bad, but don’t do it again.”

Jay looked a little ashamed. I decided to just pretend that it hadn’t happened.

“This is Shandera, the Pokemon I’ll be taking on the run with me.” I gestured toward the eerie lamp Pokemon, which looked a little happier to be introduced.

“We should get going,” I said after a while and walked toward the trail head. It was icy, but my boots dug into the ice and gave me a good hold. Jay didn’t look like he was having much trouble either. Both of our Pokemon were floating so they didn’t need to worry about that.

We had barely reached the trailhead and started hiking when a Tyrogue appeared, cracking small, fist-sized rocks in half with tiny chops. It looked up at us briefly and then resumed its work.

    “You want it?”

Suddenly there was a huge Flash that emanated from the Pokemon and radiated energy outward. Jay hadn't quite anticipated the power of the attack and the force knocked him to the hard ground below. He gave a sigh. Having a rash nature, Magnezone tended to be stronger, but it was far more reckless. A person ran forward, who Jay assumed was the ranger, and extended a hand to help Jay up.

"Thanks," Jay said, slightly embarassed. "Oh, that's a nice Pokemon," he added spotting the mysterious chandelier-like Pokemon.

“You shouldn’t just fire off a Flash Cannon like that. You damaged the park. Luckily, it wasn’t too bad, but don’t do it again,” the ranger warned Jay.

Jay could feel his pale cheeks turn a rosy red colour. "I'm so sorry. Magnezone is one of my newest pokemon and well..." Jay trailed off, still slightly shaken by the power of the Magnezone's attack. He could feel his head pounding, but it was his own fault, so he tried to ignore the throbbing forehead.

“This is Shandera, the Pokemon I’ll be taking on the run with me," the ranger said, indicating to the eery Pokemon floating beside him. Just like Magnezone, it seemed slightly out of place in this harsh environment.

“We should get going,” the ranger said after a while and walked toward the trail head. It was icy, but his boots dug into the ice and seemed to give him a good hold. Jay didn’t look like he was having much trouble either.

We had barely reached the trailhead and started hiking when a Tyrogue appeared, cracking small, fist-sized rocks in half with tiny chops. It looked up at us briefly and then resumed its work

    “You want it?”

"Yes, very much so," Jay squeeled at the thought of having another fighting type.

Magnezone revved forward and examined the small, hard worker. It payed no attention to the Magnezone and continued working on the ice.

"I don't want to attack it when it's unaware. Magnezone annoy it, but don't hurt it," Jay called out.

Magnezone let out a loud, piercing humming noise and aimed it's magnet arms at the Tyrogue. It started to him louder and there was a flash as a blue electrical spark shout out. The spark hopped through the air, dancing around the Tyrogue, distracting him.

"Excellent, now try and hit it with that spark in a Thunder Wave attack!"

The Tyrogue looked up, clearly annoyed and then the circle of static closed in on the Tyrogue, threatening to paralize him.

    OOC: using thunder wave.

The trainer showed much interest in getting this Pokemon. Tyrogue was okay, but ig=f I’d wanted one of its evolutions, I’d have waited.

Jay commanded Magnezone to annoy the little guy with small jolts of electricity. Chick was happy to do it and began to zap the rock that the Tyrogue was standing on with jolts of electricity. Maybe Chick thought it was funny because it used its power to throw the small rocks Tyrogue was holding, into his face.

Tyrogue did not look happy. He stood up and faced Chick. Jay ordered Chick to paralyze Tyrogue. Chick made a loop of blue electricity around the area and closed it in around Tyrogue. Just before the crackling energy was about to smash full on into him, Tyrogue leaped high into the air so fast, that I almost thought he disappeared. I looked up but the sun had decided to peek out and blind us. Or maybe Tyrogue had.

The clouds above us further dissipated to reveal a blazing sun. It didn’t warm us but it did blind us. I was concerned for what Tyrogue was planning. He landed back on the rock and stood stock still, waiting for the next attack.

Jay watched nervously as the Thunder Wave attack closed in on the Tyrougue. His face alive with energy, ardent for this move to hit. Then, the Tyrogue broke it's spell of motionless and leaped up hig into the sky. Jay's eyes followed theleaping figure as it soared upwards. Jay cringed slightly and averted his gaze as the glaring light of the afternoon sun shone brightly into his gaping eyes.

The Tyrogue dropped down a few metres fro Magnezone and returned Magz' stare, wondering what the Pokemon would do. It resumed it's seemingly petrified stance.

"Magz, don't worry. I've come up with an idea. Now, please concentrate on performing this combo. Iknow you have a low-attentionspan, butplease concentrate on this," Jay pleaded. "Now, use your Lock-on attack!" Jay screamed over to him.

Magnezone rose slightly higher upwards as the ground had a slight tendency to distract Electric types, for one reason or another. It'sserene blue eyes turned a cold, red colour as it took in every detail of the opponent. It's face was etched with concentration and Magnezone started to hum again. The humming grew louder as Maagnezone began to pin point it's foe'sexact location to the nearest millimetre. It's magnetic arms rose slowly and aimed at the Tyrogue, taking it's proportions into account. It's eyes focued on every intake of breth the Tyrogue did, but the opponent never broke it's stare. Jay thought this must have been exceptionally hard as the sunlight was reflecting off of the Magnezone's body straight into the hard eyes of the Fighting-type Pokemon.

Magnezone's humming came to an abrupt halt and Jay knew that it was ready for whatever Jay had planned.

"Zap Cannon," Jay replied calmly, desperate not to distract his Magnezone.

Magnezone' head tilted slightly to show that it acknowled this andit began to work on it's Zap Cannon. A spark went off inside the pit of Magnezone. It copied and multiplied. Doubling every nano second. The sparks danced around inside, getting bigger and stronger and emitting a static sound. The amount of energy in Magnezone' body started to become over whelming and the electricity started to pour out. Jolt's of it spread along it's body like wildfire, seeping out of every nook and cranny. The Magnezone'blue-and-red magnet arms began to vibrate rapidly and the charges of electricity surged towards these magnets. They poured into the magnets, seemingly without stop and Magnezone gave a slight shudder as it realised that it could no longer control the attack. The electricity burst out of Magnezone erratically in all directiond, but it's Lock-on attack helped control the spars. It dragged them all into one big heap of cackling, blue sparks. The energy required was enormous to hold the ball shape and then Magnezone ordered the attack.

The ball of energy shot forward, twisting and turning in the air. This move was an extremely dangerous move if Lock-on isn't performed beforehand, but luckily it was in this case. The ball of energy split into three identical balls and circled the Tyrogue threateningly. Then they split and formed an electric cage around the Tyrogue, making escape near impossible. The walls of the electric cage shook and then closed in on the determined Tyrogue, who still hadn't budged a muscle.

As Magnezone was charging. Tyrogue leaped up into the sunlight once again, blinding anyone who tried to look up at him. What was he planning. Magnezone was nearly finished charging up its blue energy for the attack.

Suddenly, Tyrogue appeared out of nowhere and smashed straight into the top of Magnezone’s main body, leaving an orange streak behind it as it moved. Unluckily for Tyrogue, the energy that Magnezone had been charging all this time was rapidly discharged at point blank range right when he kicked. He was thrown backward hard into a rock.

Magnezone had been crunched in between Tyrogues foot and the ground so it was weak but still standing. Tyrogue was struggling to move. From the way that electricity was cackling around its body, I could tell that he was paralyzed.

“This is as good a time as any to catch it.”

Jay watched in bewilderment as the Tyrogue leapt up high into the air. The sun blocked Jay'e eyes once more. He cursed softly, wondering what was happening. Thankfully Jay knew that the Lock On attack would give Magnezone a huge advantage when it came to accuracy. There was a horrible crashing noise as the rogue Tyrogue gaave an almighty kick into Magnezone's side. Jay grimaced slightly, but held his breath as he heard a thundering, powerful attack shoot through the air and then a sickening crunch.

The tyrogue had been knocked back a good bit and it looked extremely weak. It twitched slightly indicating to Jay that it was paralyzed.

"Magnezone, you did so well!" Jay smiled. "Now, that thing is ours," he grinned as he lobbed a regular Parkball through the air. Jay watched the red-and-white sphere soar through the air. He crossed his fingers. Praying silently that he could have this Pokemon.

OOC:No fancy bolds for now. ill get the html back once my computer stops flipping out.

The parkball spun through the aair dramatically towards the weakened Tyrogue and tapped it square on the chest, transforming it to red light, and swallowing it whole.

It then fell to the snow and wriggled weakly before giving up and laying still.

"Congrats on your new pokemon!" I said to Jay smiling. It wasn't a very difficult capture but it was a capture nonetheless. I looked back at the trailhead and noticed a detour that we could take.

"From here we could take that cave," I pointed at the cavern in the side of the sheer cliff, " Or the main road to the top."

I waited for my trainer to choose.

My heart stopped in my chest as the ball wiggled on the snow-ridden mountainside. It came to an abrupt halt and I gave out a squeel of joy at my capture.

"Before we go I have something I would like to do," I said calmly, retrieving the Pokeplayer along with a shiny disk from my navy backpack. I placed it on the snowy ground and inserted the disk. The machine whirred as it loaded and then a growl emitted from it. I listened carefully as the Sneasel Voice echoed through the mountain side, before the mountains returned to their silent state.

"From here we could take that cave," my ranger said pointing at the cavern in the side of the sheer cliff. Or the main road to the top."

I looked up at the steep cliffs and nodded. "I'd love to go up to those caves. I've heard Sneasel live in the mountains and in caves," I beamed before beginning the short walk to the cliff side.

As he pressed the button on the pokeplayer I clenched my teeth; Sneasel calls weren't the most pleasing to the ears. A surprisingly quiet screech came from the player and I relaxed. I guess that Sneasel could hear pretty well.

We paced towards the opening and went under a covering where the snow began to thin. I was glad that my trainer didn't make me trudge through the snowy day.

When we made it into the part where there was no more snow, I removed my jacket and stuffed it in my overlarge pack which I then threw into the air towards Shandera knowing she would hold it for now.

We rounded a corner and continued along the corridor for a little bit until something desturbed us.

A scratching noise coming from the cieling caught my attention so I looked uselessly up at the black abyss. I barely had time to step back before a jet black streak flew right where I was milliseconds before. The Sneasel looked up at us happily and skated effortless circles around us at speeds I had not seen in any other Pokemon.

"Guess you were lucky, first try."

We progressed through the mountainside, eagerly searching for a Pokemon. I peered through every crack in the rough walls and held my breath as we turned every corner. The snow beneath our feet gradually started to thin out until the dirty, grey floor beneath had become visible. I was concentrating on the ground below as my ranger let out a gasp and a black flash shot by face. I jumped back and searched for the source of the disturbance. Then, to my upmost happiness, I saw the Pokemon I had enterred the Park for. Standing in front of me was a beautiful Sneasel. It's inky black fur shone and it's pearly white claws seemed to shine in the poor light of the mountain. It had look of exuberant happiness on it's otherwise calm face and it's mouth arched into a broad smile.

"Hello there little fellow," I cooed. "Magnezone, take a break for now. I think Togekiss might want to battle this," I beamed withdrawing two Pokeballs. I pressed the button on the smaller of the two red-and-white capsules, emitting a brilliant red beam that sucked up Magnezone. I stowed the ball in my parka pocket and threw the other out onto the field. The ball opened up and shot out a slightly brighter ram of red light. As I looked down I saw my beloved Togekiss fluttering up near the cave roof. I caught the retreating pokeball with ease and turned my attention to the slightly startled Sneasel.

"Toge, please go easy with it and start things off with a Thunder Wave," I commanded.

Togekiss opened her mouth and I could see a small ball of electricity start to form. I watched nervously as the sparks leapt over one another in their attempt to form a perfect sphere shape. The blue sparks continued in this manner until Togekiss gave me a sly wink. She lifted her head back and gave a squeek as she shot the ball at her target. I winced as the weak jolt of electricity cackles past my face straight at the awaiting Pokemon. "Be easy with it," I said, not wanting to hurt the Sharp Claw Pokemon.

    OOC: Male please

Talon charged down the pathway, ignoring everything he passed. He had just been called to take over as the ranger for a trainer who was in Mt. Oktori, and he rushed to get to the location. He drew closer to the trainer and his ranger, and saw that the trainer was battling a Sneasel.

"Hey, I'll take over." Talon breathed out.

The ranger walked back down the path, heading back towards the Ranger Outpost, and Talon turned his attention to the battle that was taking place. The wave of electricty crashed into the Sneasel, and it let out a yelp as it was flung backwards, before it quickly scurried back to its feet, and it let out a long, loud hiss, and charged forwards, sparkles of electricity surging across its body, seemingly unaffected by the electricity rampaging across its small body.

The Sneasel stopped running, twirling its arm around, ice crystals shooting out of its arms, and amassing into a ball of cyan ice which floated in front of the Sneasel, before the Sharp Claw Pokemon fired a large cyan beam out of its mouth, which shot the ice ball forward, the crystal ball crashing into the body of the Togekiss, before the Ice Beam slammed into its left wing, the cold cyan crystals exploding all over the Togekiss' wing, small shards flying through the air as the Ice Beam impacted with the white flying egg Pokemon's left wing, and the wing became encased in several layers of ice, and the Togekiss lowered as it struggled to keep afloat due to the sudden ice covering its wing.

A new ranger skidded into view as the twisting yellow sparks smashed into Sneasel's chest, knocking it backwards on to it's back. I recoiled slightly atthe sight of the new ranger that had rushed here. I found it unnerving and slightly worrying. Neither ranger had mentioned anything to me about this strange turn of events so I figured that it was best to keep my mouth shut aswell. Surely there was some reason. Maybe my old ranger had to leave or maybe the new ranger was ambitious. So ambitious that he never even told me his name... It wasn't important anyway. These things could be explained later on, after the battle.

I looked over at the Sneasel that had since leaped up to his feet and hissed at my Togekiss. Togekiss poked it's Tongue out in return, clearly unaffected by the somewhat-intimidating Pokemon. Sneasel's eyes glazed over as it fought back the urge to succumb to paralysis. It gave me a sickeningly venemously smile as it started to sprint towards the Togekiss. He spun his arm around wildly sending shards of ice flying into the air in front of him, clicking into place together, forming a large ball of ice. I staredat the ball of clusterred ice uneasily. Togekiss was part Flying type which means that she has a fairly awkward weakness to Ice. I sighed. Only someone like me would bring a Pokemon that was weak to Ice, to a snowy mountain littered with Ice type Pokemon.

The Sneasel opened it's mouth, revealing rows of jagged, White razor-sharp teeth. A blindingly bright beam of ice emerged. The beam whizzed through the air, crashing into the crystalline ball of ice, which, in turn, was sent shooting towards the startled Togekiss. Togekiss gave a feeble cry as the ice sphere smashed into her wing, shattering into bits. I gave a startled cry as I watched Togekiss drift downwards. I was wondering what the hell she was doing until I saw her wing. Ice was covering it all over, hindering her flight.

"Togekiss, come down," I ordered. "You did sooo well. You should be really proud of yourself. I'm so proud of you too!" I smiled at her. To my surprise, Togekiss gave me a quick nod telling me she wanted to continue the battle. "Kiss, kiss!" she chimed happily, regardless of the state of her frozen wing. "Don't worry, I have an idea. Now, I know that you can't learn any Fire type moves to melt the ice, but I have a nice and hopefully beneficial solution. Try and use a Water Pulse!" I commanded.

Togekiss' mouth filled with clear, liquid after I ordered our next attack. "I know this is a bit vague, but please try and heat it up." Togekiss caught mt drift, my plan becoming more and more clear. She swishes the warn water around in her mouth, gargled and even burped to try and heat it. "Now, squirt some onto your frozen wing!" I ordered. Togekiss squirted the room-temperature water onto her wing. As the inside of her body was far warmer than the freezing climate outside it appeared to make a large difference. The wing cleared up a bit and she relaxed. The tip of the ice melting slightly. I knew it was just a matter of time before her wing would defrost.

"Now, squirt the rest onto the Sneasel!" Togekiss opened her mouth wide and a torrent of warm, crystal-clear water shot out towards the curious Sneasel. This must look so weird to him.

Togekiss obeyed her trainer quickly, and gargled the water in its mouth, before spewing it over its left wing. The ice did begin to melt, however, Togekiss let out a yelp of pain as the water scorched her body, sending jolts of pain throughout her. However, she managed to recover, and unleashed a spurt of boiling water which splattered over the Sneasel, small plumes of smoke rising from its body as the water met the electricity. A jolt of pain shredded the Sneasel's body, as the electricity strengthed in intensity.

The Sneasel let out a growl, firing ice shards in the direction of Togekiss, the shards clipping the slightly frozen left wing of the white flying egg Pokemon. The ice remaining on the wing shattered, a small shard embedding in the side of the Togekiss, and it let out a yelp of pain.

"Oh, my name is Talon by the way." Talon introduced himself. "I don't want to distract you from the battle, so continue."

As the seemingly-harmless jet of water splashes against Sneasel it gave out a horrifying yelp that sent a shiver down my spine. I felt my face scrunch up as I watched it's face contort with pain and frustration. To my disbelief the hot water reacted with the weak jolt of electricity that was still evident within the Sneasel. The Sneasel twitched uncontrollable and I felt a sudden urge to leap over and try and help it. Of course I wouldn't actually do that. But deep down I had a kind heart, whether I realised it or not. Besides, what could I do exactly? Nothing, that's what. The Sneasel wouldn't understand if I tried to help it out. Infact Sneasel might not understand at all and see me as a threat. Afterall I was on the same team as Togekiss, the Pokemon that had just inflicted so much pain on it.

It must be tough to be a Sneasel. Their whole life is one of loneliness and solitude. I had read about it before in a documentary book, how they eat eggs of other wild Pokemon and live in nest high up in the mountain. All by themselves. Sneasel were commonly abandoned by their own mother at birth to test how tough they were. It was a prime example of survival of the fittest. The weaker ones would perish in the harsh cold climates or, even worse, be eaten by another wild Pokemon just hours after birth. I dabbed at my copper-flecked eyes as a hot tear poured down my face. I wasn't going to let this Pokemon suffer the way it's kind usually does. I was going to capture it. I would teach this Sneasel all about love and compassion, and, maybe some day it could return the same back to me and my fellow Pokemon.

I glanced up after realising I had just gotten lost in my own thoughts again. The Sneasel flicked some icy shards at the Togekiss, most bouncing off her bulky skin. But, one large one pierced right through her creamy coloured skin and stuck out of the same wing that was frozen. I noticed that the wing looked a lot better than before. Most, if not all, of the ice was gone at this stage. Although the huge puncture thr icicle would leave worried me slightly. I would have to take my poor, brave Togekiss to the Pokemon Center afterwards and make sure that they can heal the wing and that it isn't infected. I had brought my own disinfectant with me, but now was not the time to do so, now was the time to bring this fight to a conclusion.

"Oh, my name is Talon by the way." Talon introduced himself. "I don't want to distract you from the battle, so continue," the ranger said to me, drawing attention once more from my Pokemon and bak to the battle. The Sneasel looked a lot weaker than before. Clearly, the water attack did a lot more internal damage than I had noticed. The Sneasel looked worried and it was shivering and panting slightly, although not from the cold. Ice type Pokemon tended not to feel the cold as much as other Pokemon.

"Alright, Togekiss. Let's give this Sneasel one final attak before we attempt a capture," I said to my injured Pokemon. "We don't want to hurt it too badly as we've clearly hurt it a lot as is. Do you think you're capable of pulling off one more move and bracing thr pain in your wing?" Togekiss shifted her wing anxiously as she was eager to ginish this battle. "Shadow Ball!" I commanded.

Togekiss opened her mouth, revealing a dark blob of energy swirling around above her rosy red tongue. The sphere of shadows emerged and began to grow larger and larger as it absorbed darkness from the air and around us. Togekiss' eyes were closed with concentration and the snowy area seemed to get lighter as some darkness was sucked into the ball. "Try not to hurt it too bad," I added, lowering my hand to my belt and pulling out a Park Ball. I glanced down at the dimple red-and-white Pokeball that I had purchased from the National Park Shop before coming here. Thr standard issue ball was just like a normal Pokeball, but they weren't allowed here. I raises the hand as the Shadow Ball hurled through the air. I was going to throw the Park Ball after the attack got closer. I watched hesitantly until the glowing, dark and grey ball was about a metre from the Sneasel and I hurled the Park Ball. Hopefully it would be a successful capture. I wanted to save this Sneasel so badly.

"Please..." I whispered, crossing my fingers.
